A.J. Brown

NegativeBust48:01

The source drafted AJ Brown this year despite not believing in him last year and now regrets it. He didn't believe in AJ Brown last year (thought he was bad, hurt, and uninterested in playing football), but changed his mind after AJ Brown switched teams and Bill Simmons compared him to Randy Moss. The source admits he played scared, driven by FOMO, and bought in despite his original skepticism. AJ Brown is now on IR with a projected six-week recovery that will likely stretch to eight weeks, meaning he'll miss roughly half the season.

Insight page

Blake Corum

NegativeRole40:01

The source states 'Blake Corum is not going to be the lead guy on the fucking ramps'—asserting he will not be the lead back in the Rams' rotation; used as an example of a player where assumptions about significant playing time changes proved incorrect.

Insight page

Bo Nix

NegativeBust15:00

Nix had what the source calls the worst game he's played in the NFL, showing poor pocket awareness with defenders easily knocking the ball out of his hand; he had delays of game on third-and-two pre-snap and struggled with decision-making both pre-snap and post-snap. The source notes his lack of spatial awareness for a third-year quarterback was concerning, and when he did get the ball in the right spot, receivers like Waddle were dropping it due to pressure. The Broncos' offensive line couldn't block effectively, and Nix's inability to navigate the pocket compounded the team's discombobulated offensive performance.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection60:30

Bryce Young was the third-best quarterback in fantasy football in Week 1 despite being heavily targeted for elimination in the draft. Multiple opponents attempted to block him out, but he still finished second in scoring on the team that drafted him, beating every quarterback except Josh Allen and Caleb Williams.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveProjection60:48

Caleb Williams was one of only two quarterbacks to outscore Bryce Young in Week 1 fantasy scoring, indicating strong early-season performance.

Insight page

Chase Brown

NegativeValue20:20

The source drafted Chase Brown one pick before Ken Walker in their league and immediately regretted the selection, feeling foolish about the pick order despite acknowledging Brown will probably be fine long-term.

Insight page

Chris Brooks

NegativeRole42:53

With Josh Jacobs suspended and the Packers' offensive line bad and lacking depth, Chris Brooks is among the backfield options (alongside Marshawn Lloyd) who will be irrelevant for fantasy; the Packers are not going to have a running game.

Insight page

Christian Watson

NegativeRole42:21

Plays in two-receiver sets for the Packers alongside Matthew Golden; part of the team's receiver rotation structure where Jaden Reed operates as the slot receiver in three-receiver sets.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout43:13

Christian Watson was awesome in Week 1; the source was right about him and he looked great for at least a quarter and a half.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveProjection67:08

DeAndre Swift delivered 30+ points in Week 1, contributing to a dominant fantasy performance alongside Derek Henry and Kenneth Walker.

Insight page

Dallas Goedert

NegativeValue51:51

Dallas Goddert was considered as a late-round tight end option alongside other players like Jake Ferguson and Chica Conquo, but the analysts collectively decided Isaiah Likely had the most upside and should have been the pick.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeBust25:07

The source drafted DeVante Adams expecting regression-defying performance based on his 14 touchdowns from the prior year despite only 700 receiving yards; after Week 1 underperformance, the source expressed immediate regret, noting Adams was an afterthought in the game and that the pick now depends on him massively defying regression to salvage the season.

Insight page
NegativeUsage28:00

Devante Adams had a dramatic usage collapse in Week 1 with only 3 catches for 26 yards, a stark decline from his role last season where he was on 16% of the Rams' goal-line snaps. The source attributes this to the Rams' offensive scheme changes and reduced involvement in high-value situations.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveValue24:39

The source drafted Derrick Henry as part of a strategy to target good veterans over Chargers players; expressed satisfaction with the pick after Week 1, noting it felt phenomenal alongside Ken Walker.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection0:15

Drake May is described as great and talented; the source notes he is in his second year in the Patriots system and expresses belief that the offense should improve from Week 1 performance against Seattle, though the overall Patriots roster lacks talent outside of a few standouts.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup60:18

Drake Maye faced Seattle in Week 1, which was noted as a tough matchup for the team that drafted him, though the team expected to recover from this early challenge.

Insight page

Emmett Johnson

PositiveUsage12:30

Johnson, the Chiefs' backup running back, looked explosive in Week 1 and was used in goal-line situations, including being tackled at the five-yard line before Ken Walker was inserted to score a touchdown. The source notes the Chiefs' willingness to use their running backs effectively and mentions Johnson as part of a completely different offensive approach.

Insight page

George Pickens

NegativeValue31:34

The source expresses regret over ranking George Pickens ahead of Josh Allen in draft strategy, questioning the decision to prioritize Pickens over an elite quarterback option that delivered dominant Week 1 production.

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

PositiveSleeper19:08

Isaiah Likely was identified as the best late-round tight end option heading into drafts with the most upside, yet none of the analysts took him despite collectively agreeing he was the top choice; he went on to have an incredible Week 1 performance with 8 catches on 8 targets and 2 touchdowns, making his omission from their rosters a major regret.

Insight page

Jake Ferguson

NegativeValue51:51

Jake Ferguson was considered as a late-round tight end option alongside other players like Dallas Goddert and Chica Conquo, but the analysts collectively decided Isaiah Likely had the most upside and should have been the pick.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

NegativeBust39:07

Wide receiver 75 in Week 1 after being WR71 last year; only plays in two-in-three receiver sets and rotates in and out even then; had 3 catches for 20 yards on 57% snap share; the source drafted him despite being frustrated with identical role last year, noting the Packers offense may be worse due to offensive line issues and inability to run the ball; the source expresses regret, comparing the draft decision to booking an impossible travel connection—recognizing all variables point to part-time, unreliable production.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveBust0:47

Waddle had one catch for two yards on three targets with a drop in Week 1 against Kansas City; ran routes on only 82% of team dropbacks (well below elite receiver benchmarks like Jamar Chase at 98%) and was the first-read target on just 14% of his routes, comparable to rookies and role players like Jahan Dotson, Malachi Fields, and Ryan Flournoy. The source notes he was moved all over the formation early but became a clear-out receiver who couldn't catch passes over the middle or in traffic; after the drop on third-and-seven, Sean Payton appeared to abandon him entirely. This represents a massive disappointment for a first-round trade acquisition.

Insight page
NegativeBust19:31

Waddle's Week 1 performance (1 catch, 2 yards) was a major disappointment that prompted instant regret about his draft selection. The source expresses serious concern about his role, noting that if he doesn't achieve a higher than 14% first-read target rate in the following week, they don't know what they'll do, suggesting the trade acquisition and draft capital invested in him may have been a mistake.

Insight page
NegativeBust47:27

The source ended up with Jalen Waddle on multiple teams this year at a reasonable price and regrets the pick. The speaker frames this as the opposite of how he should be thinking—taking a player because he's cheap rather than because of conviction. This represents a draft philosophy mistake: Waddle was selected for value rather than belief, which the source now views as a flawed approach.

Insight page
NegativeProjection66:50

Jalen Waddle was on a team's lineup in Week 1 but did not produce significantly, contributing to a second-place finish in league scoring despite the team's strong overall performance.

Insight page

Jordan Love

NegativeProjection43:00

Jordan Love without a running game (due to the Packers' bad offensive line and lack of depth) is going to be tough to watch; the source regrets not being lower on the Packers offense than the consensus.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection30:34

Josh Allen delivered a dominant Week 1 performance against the Texans with two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. The source expresses regret for advising listeners to wait on elite quarterbacks and recommends reaching for Allen in the first round, arguing that the conventional wisdom to wait on quarterback is consistently wrong and that elite options like Allen and Lamar Jackson should be prioritized in drafts.

Insight page
PositiveProjection59:57

Josh Allen's correct ranking is 28th, but the source argues his ranking should be 16th based on "vibe"—the lived experience of fantasy ownership. When Allen scores 38 points, the emotional satisfaction justifies a higher ranking than traditional metrics suggest.

Insight page

Kendrick Bourne

PositiveBreakout45:11

Kendrick Bourne, who just showed up in Arizona at 31 years old, cranked out a strong performance in Week 1, providing a contrast to the disappointing debuts of Kyle Pitts and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveProjection67:08

Kenneth Walker delivered 30+ points in Week 1, contributing to a dominant fantasy performance alongside Derek Henry and DeAndre Swift.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

NegativeBust43:45

Kyle Pitts combined with Marvin Harrison Jr. for one catch for 33 yards in Week 1; the source regrets ranking him and refuses to draft him on principle because he is a 'fun and energy vampire' who steals joy—even if drafted late, he sits on the roster projected for 11 points and kills your team.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeInjury30:52

Kyler Murray suffered a concussion in Week 1 after throwing an interception on his first play of the game. He left the game after just 11 snaps, representing an immediate injury setback that undermines draft positioning.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeUsage28:46

Kyren Williams salvaged the Rams' backfield performance in Week 1 with 11 carries for 41 yards, though the yardage total was modest. He was the only Rams offensive player to produce meaningful fantasy output amid the team's overall Week 1 struggles.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveProjection30:47

The source recommends reaching for Lamar Jackson in the first round as one of the elite quarterback options that should not be waited on, arguing that conventional wisdom to defer on quarterbacks is consistently wrong and that elite options deserve early draft capital.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveSleeper46:49

The source reached for Luther Burden in multiple drafts because he wanted him, framing this as the correct drafting philosophy: reaching for players you believe in is preferable to taking cheap players you don't. The joy of reaching for Luther Burden and being right outweighs the disappointment of being wrong, making conviction-based reaches the right approach versus discount-driven selections.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

NegativeRole42:53

With Josh Jacobs suspended and the Packers' offensive line bad and lacking depth, Marshawn Lloyd is among the backfield options (alongside Chris Brooks) who will be irrelevant for fantasy; the Packers are not going to have a running game.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeBust43:45

Marvin Harrison Jr. combined with Kyle Pitts for one catch for 33 yards in Week 1; the source regrets ranking him and refuses to draft him on principle because he is a 'fun and energy vampire' who steals joy—even if drafted late, he sits on the roster projected for 11 points and kills your team. The source ended up with him in a league and didn't want to play him because he hates him.

Insight page
PositiveBust45:47

The source regrets drafting Marvin Harrison Jr. at a discount after he fell in the draft; the speaker took him despite hating the pick, didn't want to play him in Week 1, and is upset he exists on the roster because he sucked in Week 1. The core regret is that there's no world he could perform well enough to justify the emotional cost of owning him at a discount price, illustrating the principle that taking elite prospects at a discount is 'not fine' if you lack conviction—reaching for players you want is preferable to taking cheap players you don't believe in.

Insight page
NegativeProjection60:03

Marvin Harrison Jr.'s unadjusted ranking is 75th, but the source would rank him 140th based on "vibe"—the emotional experience of owning him. One catch in a game creates such negative feelings that it warrants a significantly lower ranking than traditional projections suggest.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

NegativeRole42:21

Plays in two-receiver sets for the Packers alongside Christian Watson; part of the team's receiver rotation structure where Jaden Reed operates as the slot receiver in three-receiver sets.

Insight page

Omarion Hampton

PositiveBust24:02

The source drafted Marion Hampton on the Chargers despite off-target rankings, feeling obligated to put money behind the Chargers narrative after extensive team coverage; immediately regretted the pick after Week 1 performance, describing the decision as a mistake driven by emotional commitment to a team narrative rather than sound analysis.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveSleeper46:49

The source reached for Parker Washington in multiple drafts because he wanted him, positioning this as the correct drafting strategy: conviction-based reaches for players you believe in are preferable to discount-driven selections. Reaching for Parker Washington is framed as 'fine' in contrast to taking Marvin Harrison Jr. at a discount without conviction.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveProjection9:00

Mahomes returned from a torn ACL in Week 1 and immediately scored a 23-yard rushing touchdown on the first drive, running it in Josh Allen-style. The source expresses regret at ranking 15 players ahead of Mahomes in off-season analysis and notes that six of seven people in the Ringer Fantasy Football League bet against him on Monday Night Football, calling this a massive error in judgment. Mahomes looked faster than expected and was not hindered by an undrafted free agent left tackle; the source frames this as the only time to buy the dip on the greatest quarterback of the generation.

Insight page
NegativeValue21:28

Ranking Patrick Mahomes as a backup quarterback was identified as an instant regret after Week 1, suggesting the source made a draft positioning error with the elite quarterback.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeProjection28:36

Puka Nacua had his worst game since the start of last season in Week 1, with the only worse performance being a game in which he suffered an injury. This represents a significant regression from his established baseline and raises concerns about his Week 1 performance.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

PositiveUsage15:00

Rice scored a touchdown in the Chiefs' dominant Week 1 win, described by the source as a play where he barreled into a linebacker and bounced off him into the end zone. The source notes Rice is solid and part of the Chiefs' receiving corps alongside Travis Kelce and Worthy, though the team is thin at wide receiver overall. Rice's involvement in the offense reflects the Chiefs' ability to move the ball effectively despite limited receiving talent.

Insight page

Rashid Shaheed

PositiveRole67:29

Rashid Shaheed is highlighted as a good returner whose value is significantly juiced by a league's new kick return scoring rule (kick return yards worth one-tenth of a point, equivalent to rushing yards). A bad return from the 1-yard line to the 15-yard line yields 1.5 points, making returners like Shaheed particularly valuable in this scoring format.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeUsage50:08

Ramondre Stevenson had a pretty good game in Week 1 against Seattle; the source raises the question of whether to be worried about the Patriots offense after Week 1 but does not express concern about Stevenson specifically.

Insight page
NegativeUsage50:14

Travion Henry was very bad in Week 1 for the Patriots against Seattle, suggesting limited upside in the Patriots backfield.

Insight page

Romeo Doubs

NegativeUsage50:14

Romeo Dobbs was very bad in Week 1 for the Patriots against Seattle.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

NegativeRole10:00

Charbonnet is mentioned in the context of Seattle's previous running back rotation with Ken Walker, where the Seahawks would remove Walker from goal-line situations and insert Charbonnet instead. The source notes this was part of Seattle's unwillingness to give Walker a full workload, contrasting with Kansas City's approach.

1:10My name is Danny Heifetz. I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck.
1:14And today it is Power Hour, where every Wednesday we power rank something.
1:17And this week we are power ranking all of the things we instantly, immediately regret after one week of football and feel really stupid about.
1:25Inspired by Jalen Waddell on Monday Night Football. Right, Craig?
1:28Yeah, you guys witnessed me kind of crashing out in real time.
1:31I was at the Emmys, which we can talk about at the end of the episode.
1:36And I was also watching the game on my phone and checking the Denver box score over and over, thinking this can't be right.
1:43Is Jalen Waddell playing? Did he tweak an ankle?
1:46What happened? And yeah, it inspired the idea of what's the immediate Week 1 regret?
1:50The post-nut clarity of what was I thinking? Of course this week.
1:54Horribly wrong. Of course! Just feel unbelievably immediately, unbelievably stupid for a bunch of things.
1:58We have a whole list here. We have to start, though, with this Broncos-Chiefs game.
2:02The Chiefs absolutely obliterated the Broncos. It was 31-10.
2:05It just kept getting worse and worse as the game goes.
2:08Because I want to give... I don't even know where we want to start.
2:12Like, Ken Walker, Jalen Waddell, the Holmes, all these things.
2:15Do we start... Do you want to give Ken Walker his flowers here, or should we just talk about Jalen Waddell?
2:22We hate him so much. I would like to start with Jalen Waddell.
2:25Start with hate. And then we can get to the more exciting stuff.
2:29The Jalen Waddell thing, to me, is just... I can't believe I fell for it again, man.
2:34Yeah. Like, I can't believe I did this to myself.
2:37Everyone knew I was going to regret it immediately when I was talking about this.
2:42Why didn't anyone tell me directly? Why didn't anyone call me or stage some kind of intervention?
2:47Jalen Waddell had one catch for two yards. One catch for two yards.
2:50He had one catch... And a drop from two yards.
2:53Yeah, he had three targets, one of which was a blatant drop.
2:57Yeah, so I don't know why I did this.
3:00I don't know why I did it. I... It's a fourth-round pick for a lot of people.
3:05I haven't been in the Ringer League. Yeah, yeah.
3:07I took him... My longstanding high school league that I've had for 15-plus years, I took Jalen Waddell.
3:12He was there. It seemed like a reasonable price.
3:15And I was like, everybody seems to be in on Jalen Waddell.
3:19And I guess I'll just hop in. What if I'm wrong?
3:22What if Jalen Waddell's great? I'm not going to be the stupid idiot who sits this one out.
3:27I needed, on Monday Night Football, to win in week one for my team, I needed 14 points from Waddell.
3:33A reasonable number. And a half PPR league. I was like, all right.
3:3760 yards and a touchdown, I'd probably get it done.
3:40I needed 14 points. He didn't even get 14 yards.
3:43And I just... And you know what's funny is I knew it.
3:46Like, after the first quarter was over, I was like, I know it.
3:50I know it's not going to happen. I can feel it.
3:53I know the way they're... They're like, he's like a decoy.
3:57They're just like running him in certain directions and then throwing it the other way.
4:01Pat Bryant and Evan Ingram are running around like crazy.
4:04You know, I went... I just... The guy who doesn't fucking play any of his best players that DK's been talking about for three years...
4:11Four years. I don't know why I decided to bet on that.
4:15He's... They turned him into expensive Marvin Mims last night.
4:18Makes no sense that we were in on this guy.
4:21We are so stupid. Just so everyone knows how stupid we are.
4:24Jalen Waddell is Craig and I's least favorite player in fantasy football.
4:28We invented the Waddell model, which is the idea of a player underperforming their fantasy projections every week because it's Jalen Waddell
4:34always, always shows 12 points, 13 points, and he'll get you seven.
4:38Never hits the projection. And then Danny Kelly's least favorite coach in the NFL is Sean Payton.
4:43And Jalen Waddell unites... You gotta say why. You gotta say why.
4:46Because he doesn't play as good players. Right. He decides which guy is going to get a bunch of targets in any
4:53given game, and it's never the one that you're playing in your fantasy league.
4:57It's not because he thinks it's a smart strategy.
5:00It's because he wants you specifically to be upset.
5:02He wants to fucking piss you off. That's why he does it.
5:06Our least favorite and most disappointing player in fantasy united with the coach we hate because they don't play their good players.
5:12And instead of being like, this is the biggest player to avoid this year, we're like, yeah, no.
5:18Let's take him. Just take him. It's fine. I kept him in one of my leagues.
5:22What the fuck are we doing? Idiot. I'd like to get granular for a second because this stat just really pissed me off.
5:29I wanted to look at how many routes he ran and what his route rate was and how much he was actually playing.
5:36It was all fine. It wasn't anything egregious, but he ran around on 82% of team dropbacks, which you'd think is like, okay, that's not so bad.
5:4482%. To be true, we were duped. Sean Payton told his wife that his wife should draft Jalen Waddle.
5:49And Sean Payton was talking up that Jalen Waddle's going to play everywhere except the offensive line.
5:54And he did. Like the first two drives, Jalen Waddle's in the backfield like Jackson Smith and Jake was in the NFC Championship game.
6:01They're moving him all over, slot, outside, motion, everything.
6:04It just turns out that instead of, we thought there was some small chance that Jalen Waddle was fast Michael Thomas.
6:10And it turns out that he's like expensive Marvin Mims.
6:13He's just a clear out receiver who can't catch passes over the middle and won't catch passes in traffic.
6:19And because he had a drop on third down, Sean Payton hates him now.
6:23He ran routes at a percentage this week that was lower than the likes of Ted Hurst, Makai Lemon, and Trey Tucker.
6:29He ran less percent of the routes. When the team drops back to pass, when a guy is running a route, he
6:36ran less routes than Ted Hurst, a rookie on the Bucs, Makai Lemon, a rookie on the Eagles, and Trey Tucker on the Raiders.
6:43This is the most dead dove, do not eat, what were we expecting?
6:47There is something going on in this building, in this team.
6:50Because I think we need to say, Sean Payton was not the one calling plays today.
6:55We need to say that it was Davis Webb, the new offensive coordinator, who probably won't be the offensive coordinator for very long.
7:01No, does somebody have eyes on Davis Webb right now?
7:04I want to say though, like... They're going to find him floating in a lane.
7:09This is, Craig, to your point, he ran a route on 82% of his snaps.
7:13All the best players are like 95. Like Jamar Chase was 98% of routes Jamar Chase ran.
7:18He also was the first read target, this is according to Fantasy Points, which tracks this, the first read target on 14% of his routes.
7:26So they went out and traded a first round pick for a veteran established receiver and then like one out of 10 plays, he gets a look.
7:34I swear to God, every time he lined up, I thought they were like punking me.
7:38Every time he lined up on the field, they would immediately drop back and look the opposite direction.
7:44I thought it was like, it was a bit.
7:46He wasn't involved. We're not even going to look in his direction.
7:50He wasn't involved. It's the second straight game because the Bills Broncos game too, or I guess the one with Bo Nix, second straight game.
7:57The first three plays were scripted for Pat Bryant, who they like mostly because he blocks really hard.
8:02And the whole thing is annoying, but the Broncos, I mean, they were obliterated and they deserved it.
8:0831 to 10. The other, I mean, I truly, we need like a, we're going to have to do like an autopsy
8:14here to figure out how we didn't, how we ended up being excited about Jalen Waddle.
8:19I just can't believe, I can't believe that now in week two, I have to seriously decide if I should start Jalen Waddle or Devon Vele.
8:27Literally all, this is why we said we'd get tattoos on our body.
8:30I, the other, do you want to hear, do you want to hear some other players that had around his first read target rate?
8:37Yeah, I would love to actually. Jahan Dotson. Okay.
8:40I don't even remember what team he's on. Is he, is he on the Falcons?
8:44He's on the Falcons. Jahan Dotson. Malachi Fields in his first game in the NFL.
8:49Yep. Antonio Williams in his first game in the NFL, who also, by the way, played like 20% of the snaps for
8:55the offense and still had the first, had like 60 yards and a touchdown.
8:59Yeah. 80 Mitchell, who never generates targets ever. We should have expected that.
9:03And then Ryan Flornoy, who I, again, I don't remember what team he's on.
9:07He's on Dallas. Yeah. Okay. That was what the, the Broncos after an entire off season of planning decided to do with
9:14this guy who they traded a first round pick for.
9:17That was, that was the strategy. And that was very, they did that on purpose.
9:21I think we need to get Sean Payton's wife on the show.
9:25Yeah. She's one of the, maybe she's one of the seven.
9:28I think. This is going to drive me insane.
9:31It's important to note that sometimes a player, has an outsized impact on the game than the box score reflects.
9:37Jalen Waddle was worse than the box score reflects because he dropped the third and seven that honestly would have completely changed the game.
9:44And then immediately, he like forgot what the ball looked like.
9:47He forgot what it felt like to get a target.
9:50He was scared. But overall though, the chiefs came back.
9:53The other thing that I thought made me feel really stupid.
9:56So the chiefs come back. It's obviously Patrick Mahomes, his first game back from the torn ACL is like 287 games or whatever.
10:03Ken Walker's first game after winning Superbowl MVP. First drive, Patrick Mahomes immediately just runs in like a 23-yard touchdown and just
10:09like barrels in, does a Josh Allen-esque touchdown immediately runs it in.
10:13And I'm sitting there and I'm like, did we take six months and we decided to rank 15 players ahead of Patrick Mahomes?
10:20Were we at like a fugue state? What was happening?
10:22I'm like, we just doubted the greatest quarterback of our generation.
10:26The only time we'll ever be able to buy the dip on him.
10:30I just, that also was up there with Jalen Waddell for me where I'm like, what the fuck were we thinking with doubting Mahomes?
10:37Ringer 107, everybody, six of the seven people in the contest bet against Patrick Mahomes on Monday Night Football, which is also
10:43should call all of our sanity into question. I've made a huge mistake.
10:47Off-season brain is a disease. It actually really is.
10:50It's a fucking disease. It really is. Like, literally we would have been so much better if we just had all of
10:56our work reviewed by someone who had not watched or heard a second of football content since February ended.
11:02It'd be like, Mahomes next to Jared Goff, huh?
11:04At home. Yeah. Mahomes versus the Broncos. But the Broncos, Ken Walker obviously looked amazing.
11:09Ken Walker completely changed the Chiefs offense. Yeah, this is a palate cleanser.
11:12This was the only reason I wasn't crashing out quite as hard as Craig last night is because I was just in
11:19a euphoric state watching a team give an extremely talented running back a lot of touches.
11:24Like, can you imagine the gall, the fucking just hubris and giving a good player the football a lot?
11:29Like, what the fuck are these guys doing? Ken Walker?
11:3223 carries? Fucking career high? 173 yards and two touchdowns?
11:35Ken Walker had more years through scrimmage in his first three quarters than he did in the entire Super Bowl when he was a Super Bowl MVP.
11:43This was just so validating because I've been, like, an annoying idiot about Ken Walker for the past, like, four years.
11:49And granted, like, he has been injured a few times during his career, but, like, for the most part, it was just
11:56the Seahawks were unwilling to give him a big workload and then we saw immediately what would happen if a team was willing to do it.
12:0323 touches, or sorry, 23 carries. He also added three catches and a touchdown.
12:08The best part was, and I love this, and I said this to you guys at the time, I was like, I
12:14don't think the Seahawks really ever had a chance of keeping him because he just wanted to leave because every time he
12:20would get, even sniff the end zone, the Seahawks would take him out and put him on the sideline and put Ken Charbonnet in, or what's his name?
12:29Zach Charbonnet. Yeah. One of Craig's great original takes was that Ken Walker and Zach Charbonnet should switch names because it benefits their playing styles.
12:36But in this game, Emmett Johnson got tackled at, like, the five-yard line and they put Kenneth Walker in and he scored a touchdown.
12:43Can you imagine? I can't even believe it. It was so amazing to watch this game.
12:48Ken Walker was actually an example of when off-season analysis is exactly correct, which was the Chiefs had the lowest explosive run
12:54rate in the NFL the last two years and also, the stat that blew my mind is the Chiefs were dead last
13:01in just running back scoring touchdowns from outside the red zone.
13:04Like, last over the last couple seasons. And Ken Walker is there to be a home run hitter and, like, create shit that isn't there.
13:11And he comes in and immediately does that over and over and over again.
13:16There was so many times. A six-yard touchdown. Yeah, there were so many times where the Chiron was like, first time since
13:222017 that the Chiefs had XYZ or whatever. It was like all these, you know, Kareem Hunt stats from his rookie year.
13:28His debut in week one, which we kept referencing.
13:31And this game was exactly like that game. Ken Walker, 16 broken tackles in this game, you guys.
13:3616. First, first most tackles per attempt. Miss, sorry, missed tackles forced per attempt.
13:41He also had 88 yards on explosive runs, which was most in the NFL this week.
13:45Obviously, the only thing that I'm worried about is him getting hurt.
13:49But like, you could say that about any of the running backs in the NFL.
13:53I just, I just love the fact that they're willing to use him as their workhorse, as the guy that's going to be the engine to their offense.
14:01So, the stat you just, how many missed tackles did you say Denver had?
14:06According to Fantasy Points, he had 16 missed tackles forced in this game.
14:09Which is twice as many as anyone else. We'll get to Bo Nix in a second, but I do want to, Mahomes
14:16looked way faster than I think I thought. He wasn't perfect.
14:19I mean, he had an undrafted left tackle at free agent.
14:22Or sorry, undrafted free agent at left tackle, which I thought would be a huge issue.
14:27And shockingly, it was not. The Broncos defensive line was really, I don't want to say a non-factor, but kind of a non-factor versus the Chiefs.
14:35Well, how do you neutralize a pass rush? Great running game.
14:38And the Chiefs defensive line really couldn't, kind of had their way with the Broncos offensive line.
14:43They were getting to Bo Nix easily. So frankly, the Broncos looked soft and unprepared.
14:47They could not block, they could not get off blocks, and they could not tackle.
14:52That's like the kind of stuff that old school coaches like Sean Payton, like that is a physicality issue.
14:57And that is, they don't know their assignments and they're not playing fast.
15:01They're not playing locked in. Like there were times Rasheed Rice's touchdown.
15:05Yeah, he didn't even extend his arms to tackle him.
15:08He just like rammed his shoulder into him and Rasheed Rice bounced off of him.
15:12It was like a Rasheed, I mean, this is morbid, but he did a hit and run.
15:17Rasheed Rice just barreled into that guy, knocked over the linebacker and ran into the end zone.
15:22I'm like, he's running into you. They could, the amount of missed, Ken Walker breaks that 60 yard run for the touchdown.
15:2940 yards down. One of the Broncos cornerbacks catches him.
15:31Oh right, yeah, yeah. And then he's like, you know when the running back's on the sideline and the guy like hits
15:38him out and you're always kind of like, oh, do something.
15:41But you kind of, there's nothing you can do to not be knocked over one foot and step out of bounds.
15:47This guy couldn't knock Ken, he got two hands on him and didn't knock Ken Walker out of bounds.
15:53There was like, the trenches, the entire game, the Broncos had no physicality and then, on top of it all, it was
15:59like the worst game I've seen Bo Nix play in the NFL.
16:03I thought Ken Walker looked like Saquon Barkley. He's got that kind of bow-legged gait that Barkley has, you know, with like
16:09where his legs are always just, he's always kind of at the ready to make a cut.
16:14Yeah, it's like he's like skiing through mountains through like the defenders.
16:18He looked, he looked fucking unbelievable and it finally looked like the Chiefs, like I don't, I'm not, it's not like a
16:24one-to-one saying that like they now have their Tyree kill again, but it is nice that the Chiefs now have a player
16:31that Patrick Mahomes can rely on to get explosive plays without involving Patrick Mahomes.
16:35It already seems like this offense is just so different.
16:38I thought even Emmett Johnson, their backup running back looked really explosive as well, but they look like a completely different team
16:44already and they're like, they're thin at wide receiver.
16:47Like you have Worthy who's I think kind of what he is.
16:51You have Rasheed Rice who's solid and old Travis Kelsey and that's kind of it.
16:55But this running game and the way that Ken Walker's playing, dude, he was like, it wasn't like a couple big runs.
17:02Like he was just rattling off chunk play after chunk play.
17:05It looked like Saquon two years ago. It was unbelievable.
17:08Yeah, and again, the Saquon two years ago is what happens when a really great talented running back is able to make
17:14people miss four yards downfield and not in the backfield like real Saquon Barkley was.
17:19I completely agree. And also, I mean, the Broncos defense is supposed to be the strength of the team.
17:24Look terrific. I, Ken Walker, we had high for all these reasons, but I mean, I mean, the Broncos defense last year was top five in DVOA.
17:32And, and the, I, a year ago that Chiefs Chargers game, Mahomes even from week one on, he was having to get the buckets.
17:39Like he was when they needed to play. He usually saves running for the December and the playoffs.
17:45And he had to do it starting week one last year.
17:48And now it's like, he doesn't need to do that.
17:51And so it was money well spent. The flip side is Bo Nix.
17:55I really, usually when team comes out as flat as Denver did in all three phases, you're like, that has to be coaching.
18:01Like, like, but Bo Nix's lack of pocket awareness, the amount of players that were just getting close to him and just
18:08knocking the ball out of his hand is like a level of spatial awareness for a third year quarterback that I found really concerning.
18:15And then when he did get the ball in the right spot, it's like Jalen Waddle's dropping it because he sees a guy about to clock him.
18:23Bo Nix pre-snap was like getting delays of game on third and two.
18:27Like, like all these like pivotal moments, pre-snap, post-snap, all the decision making was off.
18:31And then during the play, I just, it was really concerning how unaware he was of what was going on around him.
18:37Yeah. Webb is going to get the hook quickly.
18:40Oh yeah. I feel like. Yeah. Yeah. Cause that was a, it was just discombobulated on, on offense the whole game.
18:46This is kind of a version of coping with week one overreactions.
18:50Yes, exactly. I'm sure people are listening right now being like, can you settle down?
18:54The Broncos are going to be fine. None of these teams barely, they barely, these players barely play like real game level snaps in August.
19:02And they're just like getting into the swing of things.
19:05They, they have a new play caller. Like, it'll be fine.
19:08There's a very like, likely chance that like Waddle will be fine.
19:11However, this sucks right now. Yeah, totally. I get it.
19:14I, if everyone's thinking like, dude, it's week one, relax.
19:17Totally fair. Totally true. The Broncos look terrible. And maybe in a month, it'll be fine.
19:22And they didn't play a lot in the preseason.
19:25Every team you could make that argument for still not a great sign.
19:28Some offenses did look good this week. And it's right.
19:31It's, I agree with everything you're saying about Denver, but the inspiration for this episode was watching that Jalen Waddle thing and
19:38being like, why did we take him? And that is going to be the point of this power ranking.
19:43It's we're power ranking things that we just instantly regretted after one week of football that made us just instantly just be like, we're so stupid.
19:51And I, I think Jalen Waddle was the right place to start because he, you know, he has, it says one catch
19:58for two yards, but the way the box scores work, I just, I was like, oh, that's weird.
20:03The targets must be after the catches. That's weird.
20:05Oh no, that's yardage. That's, that's really concerning. So I hate him.
20:09One catch for two yards is, is incredible. It's remarkable.
20:12If they, if they don't have a higher than 14% first read target rate next, next week, I don't know what I'm going to do.
20:19I can't, I don't, I honestly don't know what I'm going to do.
20:23I might, I might blow a gasket. Why trade for a guy?
20:27I feel, I don't understand. I also feel really stupid that in our ringer fantasy league, I took chase Brown one pick
20:33before Ken Walker and I feel like a clown.
20:36Yeah. I also, I'll probably be fine though. But yeah.
20:39Well, we're going to do this power hour style.
20:41We're going to come back to that in a second, Craig, power hour style.
20:46For those who don't know, here's the way it works.
20:48We are going to rank all these things that we really regret after a single week of football.
20:54And we're going to put three minutes on the clock and every three minutes you're going to hear this sound, which is no longer Tom, Tom club.
21:02Okay. Do we like it? Are we locking this sound in for the season?
21:06I think, look, we tested out three last week.
21:08We selected this one. We'll test this one out exclusively today.
21:12And if we don't like it, we can, we can move on, but we don't have to get married to the damn song.
21:18Right? Yeah. It's a, it's a great song. It's, it's a great copyright free song.
21:23Yeah. It's such a good song. Number one. Well, really number three on these power rankings after Jalen Waddell, believing in Jalen
21:29Waddell was stupid and ranking Patrick Mahomes as a backup quarterback was stupid.
21:33Number three and things we instantly regretted. Craig, you texted me believing in the chargers was something you instantly regretted.
21:39This is the definition of insanity. It's doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
21:45Yeah. Heifetz, you said something last week and maybe it was a Sunday night and it was the first time I was
21:51like, oh, I think you might be right when you were like, yeah, I just took a step back.
21:57I was, I was hanging out at the Justin Herbert fan club bar and I just like took, I just kind of like stepped back a little bit.
22:05I just like, everyone was at the bar and I just kind of, I'm still, I stayed in the restaurant.
22:11I'm still inside, but I just took a step back.
22:14I'm closer to the door. I'm close, just a little closer to the door.
22:18I'm ready to Irish exit. I checked my watch, you know, and you y'all calculated yawn and eye contact with your partner.
22:24It is getting late, isn't it? I don't know, man.
22:27I, it's very likely it's week one, Mike McDaniel complicated offense.
22:31It's going to take a minute, but I'm nervous and I feel, I feel stupid that I once again talked myself into
22:37everything working on a team that's never worked. I feel, I feel like I, I've almost like disassociated with the Chargers a
22:44little bit where I'm just like, I'm going to do this every year.
22:47I don't care. Like, it is what it is.
22:50I, I have no control over this. When I, I'm just going to keep doing it.
22:55It's like drinking. You're like, I don't, whatever. I know, like, you're, you're about Damon in the Departed.
23:00Yeah. Yeah. Craig, it's like, Craig, why do you do this to yourself?
23:04You feel like shit every Sunday morning. I'm like, I'm just going to keep doing it.
23:09But it's, when I started at the Ringer, I think my first year, um, they, it was a big pitch meeting and like Robert Mays was there.
23:16Kevin Clark was there. All the Ringer writers are there and I went last because I was like basically an intern and
23:23I pitched like, this is the year for the Chargers and Mays looked at me and was like, man, so I think
23:29someone's pitched this room that for seven years in a row.
23:33Sweet summer child. Yeah. It was 27. That was 10 years ago.
23:36And then five, four years ago, I wrote a story called The Complete History of Chargers Failure, which I actually think is
23:43now missing a lot of Chargers Failure. And then somewhere in 2026, we decided with them having this really hard schedule.
23:49And again, all these players coming off injury means they're all rehabbing that we were like, yeah, no, this is the one.
23:55And I just, I feel like a moron. And also to your point, I took a Mary, like a Marion Hampton.
24:02I was like, man, we talked so much about the Chargers in the Ringer League.
24:06I feel like I have to put my money where my mouth is, even though the rankings were off.
24:12I was like, I just think I should have a Marion Hampton in this league.
24:16And I was like, I feel like I've said so much shit about the Chargers.
24:20I put my money where my mouth is and I regret it.
24:24My money and my, my mouth and my money are really hurting.
24:27Wow. What timing? That's quite the line. My mouth and my money are really hurting.
24:32Yeah. She just fucking took Ken Walker. Like we said we should.
24:35I did. We said we should just take the good veterans.
24:39I gotta tell you, it feels phenomenal. Yeah, I have freaking Henry and Walker.
24:43And you did that to spite me. Yeah. Yeah.
24:45It was awesome. I don't regret that. Okay. Here's the next one.
24:49We've talked about this a little bit, but I think it must be stated once more for the record.
24:54And we have to dive into this. It was ridiculous that we believed or even entertained to the idea that flying to
25:01Australia the day before a game was like in any way a good idea or like there was some kind of science behind it.
25:08I don't, I don't care about the science. This is stupid.
25:11These people are going to be tired after flying 15 hours in an airplane.
25:15We heard that. That's my credit. Yeah. Yeah. Can I expand a little bit to like the Rams in general?
25:21Yeah. In the ringer league where I'm in dead last, I, I drafted Devante Adams and let me tell you something.
25:27The instant regret I felt when he was just kind of an afterthought in this game where I was like, man, I
25:34took the guy who's going to be 34 this year who had 700 yards last year and 14 touchdowns.
25:40And I just kind of expected that to happen again.
25:42Yeah. And it didn't week one. And now I'm like, well, all right, well, let's hope this works because if this guy
25:49doesn't, if this guy doesn't massively defy regression, I'm fucked.
25:52Yeah. It's like, oh, well, he only had 700 yards, but he had like 14 touchdowns and you're like, and then he doesn't score a touchdown.
26:00You're like, oh shit. Wow. I kind of need those 40 yards every week to have a touchdown next to it.
26:06Don't I? Can I, I feel like if we ranked next year's rankings in like week six, we'd nail it.
26:12We should just do next summer's rankings now. I think we should, I really do feel like we should invent the, it's the week two fantasy league.
26:20It starts in week two. Maybe. You know, you know how the, you know how Jeopardy has a category that's just like
26:26stupid answers and it's like an extremely obvious answer or question or whatever, however they form the, the, the question.
26:32Uh-huh. Basically like, what kind of fruit does a coconut tree have?
26:35And it's like, what is a coconut? Yeah. Isn't Jeopardy?
26:38This continent comes from mustard seeds. They really do do that.
26:42And all the answers are really obvious. That's an SNL bit.
26:45This comes from mustard seeds. Um, the answer was mustard.
26:48Mustard comes from mustard seeds. The answer to, to the question of, uh, which team is going to look more hungover or
26:54jet lagged after flying there the day before? It was the, it was the Rams guys.
26:59It was obviously the Rams. Can I tell you a stat?
27:02I already said this before, but Matt Stafford in the first half of all the games last week, dead last in success rate.
27:09This is the MVP of the NFL. Below Cooper Rush.
27:12Below Deshaun Watson. Dude. I, and on that note, can I give you a stat that we didn't discuss and I cannot
27:18let the show keep going with it, never mentioning this.
27:21Did you see that Raheem Morris the defensive coordinator for the Rams did not have a 50th birthday?
27:27The Niners. His birth, sorry, yeah, the Niners. I apologize.
27:30Oh, too late. Shit. It was like a leap.
27:32Was it like a leap year thing? No, it was a leap day thing.
27:36They missed his birthday because on the Wednesday before the game.
27:40They flew on Tuesday, landed Thursday. So Raheem Morris never turned 50 years old.
27:44That's his new job. Hell yeah. So he's 49.
27:46But like I, but yeah, anyway, this, um, I, I can't believe we just actually debated which of the strategies was better.
27:53I think the, the point we're bringing up here right now too is just like it affected everybody.
27:58Stafford sucked. He was actually quite literally dead last among all starting 32 quarterbacks and fantasy points in week one.
28:04Did not expect that from the league MVP. Uh, Devante Adams, three catches for 26 yards after last year being the goal line back for the Rams.
28:12He was in on 16% of the goal to go snaps for the Rams.
28:16They just took him Pukunakua had his worst game since the start of last season.
28:21And the, the only game that was worse last year was one in which he got hurt.
28:26So it affected everybody. Kyron Williams salvaged it, but he only had a 11 carries for 41 yards.
28:31I just came up with a hot take on the Rams that is so hot that I'm going to write it down
28:37because it's not even ready right now, but it's like a borderline purge.
28:41Write that down. We've disrespected royalty free Tom Tom enough.
28:44Sure, we did. Hyvitz is up next with his instant regret.
28:47The host is writing something down. I just thought of something.
28:51The Ringer Fantasy Football Show is brought to you by FanDuel.
28:54Welcome to your most rewarding season ever. Only on FanDuel.
28:57How rewarding are we talking? More rewarding than an 18 point comeback?
29:00Maybe even more rewarding than an O-lineman catching a touchdown.
29:03In this NFL season, that feeling doesn't stop on the field.
29:06Look out for the all new FanDuel Rewards Club.
29:09Exclusive offers surprises and more. Looking at week two on IC, the Cleveland Browns are at Tampa Bay and the Bucs are
29:16favored by eight and a half points. Even though last week the Jags were favored by eight and a half over the Browns and won by like 90.
29:24And so I'm just, I know the Bucs turned the ball over a bunch, but I kind of just don't think the
29:30Bucs are going to do that again. And I think Buccaneers are actually just going to blow out the Browns and Deshaun Watson exactly like the Jaguars did.
29:38So I'm going to take the Bucs giving eight and a half, which is a lot, but I just, you don't know
29:45how many times left in your life you'll be able to bet against Deshaun Watson.
29:49Like, you know, life is short. Like, get it in while you can.
29:53So every week, check the FanDuel app to see what's waiting for you.

30:09This episode is brought to you by Paramount Plus.
30:12On September 18th, prepare for uncivil war. Mobland, the hit crime series from the underworld of Guy Ritchie, returns to Paramount Plus.
30:19The Harrigans are back and their empire is spiraling into chaos from the inside out.
30:23As power plays, fractured loyalties, and reckless decisions collide, Fixer Harry is left to clean up the fallout.
30:28Don't miss Mobland starring Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren like Cass Rain on September 18th on Paramount Plus.
30:34My next instant, immediate regret after week one, I cannot tell you how stupid I felt watching Josh Allen and remembering I
30:41told people not to take Josh Allen this year.
30:43And just being like, I spent six months being like, wait on quarterback.
30:47Like, you know, who needs all these elite, amazing to watch quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson.
30:52You know, you should take Kyler Murray. Who got hurt on the, who threw a pick on his first play and then
30:59like left with a concussion and his 11 snap.
31:01I was gonna say, it wasn't even the injury.
31:04First play of the game, he chucks up some duck and gets picked.
31:08And I was like, oh shit. Like, I was like, this is terrible.
31:12I just, I, what's the succession line? It's like, oh, your guns turned to sausages.
31:16I was like, fuck, I talked about this guy for a month.
31:19And then Josh Allen is going against the Texans defense and just destroying them.
31:24Bill and Sal have a good thing that two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns by a quarterback should just be called a Josh Allen.
31:31They're right. Josh Allen had a Josh Allen on the Houston Texans.
31:34And I'm sitting there and I'm like, where the fuck did we rank George Pickens over Josh Allen?
31:40Just, you have to, every off season I'm telling you guys, listeners at home, ignore everything we, it's like Odysseus.
31:46Just ignore everything you hear. The wax in the ears.
31:49Yes. Just take the best two, take Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen whenever you want.
31:53Reach for them. Take them in the first fucking round.
31:56I don't care. Don't listen to anything anybody says.
31:59If they ever say quarterback's deep this year, they're wrong.
32:02Just take Josh Allen. We have to do the tattoo thing right this year because the reality is we say, we actually are right.
32:09Like the tattoos were like, take cool players, rounds early, stop over worrying about it.
32:13And then we kind of like at the end capitulate and make our rankings like mathematically sound and we forget shit like,
32:19like, like it is, it was correct according to the market to rank Drake London ahead of Josh Allen.
32:25And then you watch week one and Drake London had 29 yards and I'm like, why the fuck did we rank this guy ahead of Josh Allen?
32:33That was insane. Yeah. When I was in, when I was in Toronto, I was talking to Matt Bellany about his fantasy
32:39team and every year he keeps Josh Allen for like an absurd amount of money.
32:44And he like, is a, an extremely casual fantasy football player.
32:47We're walking out of the hotel to go somewhere.
32:50He looks down on his phone. He's like, oh, I won.
32:53I scored the most points in the league this week.
32:56And he's like, Josh Allen, man, I saw you had like 40 points.
33:00That's great. He's like, stars are all that badder.
33:02The rest is interchangeable. I was like, God damn it.
33:05If I zoom out, if you zoom out at the highest level, it's like, why, why did you not take Josh Allen this year?
33:12It's like, yeah, cause I'm smart and I thought about it.
33:16Fuck it. We spent six months thinking about football and we're like, don't take Josh Allen.
33:20I just love him. The best player in the league.
33:23So casually, he's like, stars are all that matters.
33:26The rest are interchangeable. I was like, fuck. Fuck.
33:29What are we doing? We're so close. My, my next instant regret and look, Philadelphia fans.
33:33I understand if you're upset about what I'm about to say, that's totally fine.
33:37You won the game. You beat the commanders and you're one to know, but like taking Saquon, really paying up for Saquon
33:44and having high expectations for any relevant player on the Eagles is stupid to me.
33:48And I don't know why I did it. And I'm upset with myself because while they won and there was big splash plays.
33:55And if you watch the highlights of the Eagles, you'll see a deep ball to Wicks.
34:00You'll see two great passes to Dallas Goddard who scored.
34:03You'll see Hurts with like three really good runs.
34:05If you remove that, this game was really messy.
34:08The Eagles had 10 first downs in this game, which was second worst in the NFL.
34:13They had 10, the Broncos were dead last with nine and then it was the Eagles with 10.
34:18Kim Ward, Malik Willis, Deshaun Watson all had more first downs than the Eagles offense.
34:23Saquon Barkley had 83 yards rushing. He had eight fantasy points.
34:2678 of those 83 yards came after contact and he was hit behind the line of scrimmage seven of his 15 carries.
34:32He had one catch for negative three yards. He had the fifth worst yards before contact per rush in the league this week.
34:39And I'm just like, Landon Dickerson just went out.
34:42He's on IR. And I'm like, this offense once again looks like stagnant Eagles bullshit and I don't know why I'm back in on it.
34:49Craig, I feel your pain. Because his name's Saquon Barkley.
34:52Devontae Smith didn't do anything. Honestly, my indictment of the Eagles this week they reminded me of the Giants.
34:58And what I mean by that is it reminded me of Saquon Barkley on the Giants which is when Saquon has good
35:04blocking one of the best rushers of all time.
35:07And still looks great. He had a 40 yard run which is like the only reason why his stats were decent.
35:13He looked awesome. He still looks great. And he was a more disciplined and he's more disciplined now frankly going north-south than
35:19he used to be with jump cuts and all this stuff.
35:23But the Eagles offensive line it's borderline not special anymore.
35:25It used to be the best offensive line in years.
35:28And then Landon the truth is Landon Dickerson is actually one of those players who plays when he's hurt.
35:34And Landon Dickerson has not been healthy since week one of last year.
35:38Like Jeff Stoutland who is the run game guru Yoda that retired or was basically like I'm sick of dealing with Sirianni
35:44and retired went on the Kelsey podcast he said Landon Dickerson was the toughest player he coached in 40 years.
35:50People have no idea what Landon Dickerson goes through.
35:53I think he got hurt versus the Cowboys last year.
35:56It hasn't been the same. Plays this game toughs it out and he's like I need to go to injured reserve I'm
36:02not good enough but the Eagles don't have the half.
36:05Lane Johnson this is probably his last season and then Jason Kelce is not there and suddenly you're like this is just
36:12a mediocre line and now the Jalen Hurts offense looks fucked up and I'm not trying to be mean to the guy
36:18but it's the same thing as it always is which is they're just they're a python strangling people it's like a live
36:25stream of a python strangling something to death and you watch it for three hours every week and you're like God and
36:31there's four plays that look cool right? Like the Devontae Smith sideline stuff is cool like Jalen Hurts has four cool throws
36:38and everything else is like watching the life squeezed out of you dude man what a great royalty free tune amazing song
36:44did you know that the Eagles last year had a worse three and out rate a higher three and out rate than
36:51the Jets they were lasting lower than the Titans with Cam Ward and Brian Callen getting fired well it's about the same
36:57as the Titans I'm just looking at the stat right now this year so far they are second to last like Craig
37:03said like Craig said Deshaun Malik Wells Cam Ward all had more first downs and I will say before we move on
37:10really quick Saquon got interviewed after the game about the offense's performance and he was really candid he was like he said
37:16quote look we won the game we have to be happy that we won but he said quote there's stuff we got
37:23away with and we have to be honest with ourselves that's what Saquon said after week one week one and like here's
37:29and Eagles fans are probably some Eagles fans know that we're talking about some Eagles fans are mad and here's my honest
37:36counter if you're like well they keep winning because winning is the point and that is still the point it's not fantasy
37:42points it's winning the game look at the Chiefs and Eagles who played each other in two Super Bowls and I think
37:49are fair comparisons even the year that Eagles won the Super Bowl through 10 weeks Eagles players and AJ Brown were arguing
37:55and freaking out about what the offense should be and AJ Brown and Hurts were arguing what the offense should be all
38:02that year but look at the Chiefs and Eagles this offseason with Super Bowl caliber rosters spending what an entire offseason looks
38:08like to get the running game going to make it easier for their quarterback and look what Ken Walker and the Chiefs
38:15looked like with an offseason to prepare and all the Eagles talked about was getting Saquon back to be the function of
38:21the offense and it looked terrible and I just they had a long time to come up with something better and more
38:28effective and they just couldn't which is like a big red flag and that was the Chiefs going up against Denver and
38:34Philly going up against the Commanders it's a huge red flag that it couldn't be better and yeah Saquon's saying that week
38:41one's bad okay sorry DK why did I take an eagle dude what the fuck is next year we have to have
38:47a blacklist we have to have a blacklist of teams and like we were so close to doing this no Dolphins no
38:54Dolphins why don't we have Devon HN just make certain teams I don't want to watch is there some sort of like
39:00plug like a black like a you know black mirror some sort of plug-in where you can just like the guys you
39:07just don't even want to consider taking you can like blur them out I have a pitch for this I was going
39:13to do it at the end but I could pitch you guys right now I have a stat I want to create
39:19oh I was going to say that I think my new strategy is going to I'm going to literally have a list
39:26of 30 players and I can only draft them I kind of want to do so I want to move players that
39:32well I'll talk to you guys with a solution for this at the end but DK I want to get to here's
39:39the player that I'm thinking of while we talk about this it's Jaden Reed I don't know why I took him again
39:45this year after being completely frustrated about him last year the same thing that happened last year is happening this year guess
39:52what Jaden Reed the wide receiver 71 this week sorry the wide receiver yeah he was the wide receiver 71 last year
39:58guess what he was this week the wide receiver 75 I don't know why I did this to myself I don't know
40:05why I thought anything would be different he only plays in two in three receiver sets he does not play in two
40:11receiver sets and guess what he doesn't even play in all the three receiver sets he was kind of like he was
40:18in most of them but he was kind of rotating in and out and now the Packers offense just might be a
40:24lot worse than it was last year because their offensive line is an absolute disaster and they can't really run the ball
40:31yeah and they can't really run the ball he had three catches for 20 yards played 57% of the snaps I don't
40:37know why I do this to myself it's like a it's like a weird sort of tick where I'm like oh I
40:44see that name I somehow in my brain recognize that I think he's a good player and therefore I'll take him even
40:50though all the variables point to him being a part-time player and never going to be reliable at all do you guys
40:57ever have this thing where I was talking to Skippy about this the other day there's times where in my life where
41:03I'm like planning travel and I just like book a connection or like a train connection or something and there's no physical
41:10possible way I could actually make that connection and I did it anyway and I looked at it 18 times in the
41:16process of doing it and then I get on the plane and I'm like oh my train leaves an hour before we
41:22land like I don't why did I think we were going to why did I think that was going to work and
41:29then I had to like I literally had this happen or I had to like book a different flight on the flight
41:35because I was like I don't how is that going to work in any world that's how I feel after drafting Jaden
41:42Reed this year I'm like I hated watching this offense I was out on the Packers all last year because the way
41:48they rotate very much like the Broncos and they get rid of a couple receivers and I think something's going to change
41:55with Jaden Reed and it's exactly the same three catches for 20 yards it's all the rotational stuff whenever we try to
42:01assume that playing time is going to significantly change we're usually wrong like it's like the same like Kyron Williams Blake Corum
42:08it's like Blake Corum is not going to be the lead guy on the fucking ramps alright he's just not I don't
42:14think it's not the rotational no it's Jaden I don't think that's it because we the Packers I think it's what we
42:21thought it would be which is Matthew Golden Christian Watson play in two receiver sets and then Jaden Reed is the slot
42:27receiver I think the mistake we made with Green Bay and I was so I kind of I can't believe I didn't
42:34end up saying this in the take purge but I think I decided it was too obvious for the take purge there
42:40are four teams every year where their offensive lines are bad enough that like the running game is irrelevant for fantasy and
42:47there is like an uphill climb to be good and the Packers offensive line's bad and the Packers offensive line just lost
42:53a lot of depth and isn't that good frankly and they couldn't block in this game versus Minnesota and there was bad
43:00coaching I mean they took a field goal off the thing and then didn't get a touchdown which I think Packers fans
43:06are going to be mad about all year and but the offensive line's bad and like I'm realizing the whole God it's
43:13nice royalty free music basically the Josh Jacobs suspension like oh who's in the backfield Marshawn Lloyd Chris Brooks all of them
43:19are bad and they're going to be irrelevant like the Packers are not going to have a running game and Jordan Love
43:26without a running game is going to be tough to watch and that was not that hard to see coming we kind
43:32of talked about it in March and then I guess we just fucking forgot to be lower than everybody else and I
43:38hate myself I hate myself Christian Watson was sick though we were right about that Christian Watson was awesome yeah okay they
43:45looked awesome for like a quarter and a half my maybe my biggest regret after week one is ranking Kyle Pitts and Marvin Harrison Jr.
43:52when I promised myself I wouldn't put him on the list this is just a principle thing we should just refuse to
43:59do it this is perhaps our greatest faux pas this offseason is not a lot is allowing anyone to draft Marvin Harrison Jr.
44:06or Kyle Pitts at the end of last year I vowed that we wouldn't I would not rank them because there is
44:12no world I want them on my team because this is about fun and having enjoyment in your life and Kyle Pitts and Marvin Harrison Jr.
44:20are fun and energy vampires because they steal my joy here's the things if you're thinking okay well what if they were
44:26great values what if you got them for a dollar you got them in the 13th round it doesn't matter because that's
44:33the Jaden Reed argument because once they're on your roster it doesn't say next to them what round you you drafted them
44:39and they're just sitting there and they're projected 11 points and you're like well I guess I'm going to start this guy
44:46and they kill you I'm going to leave with my high school friends sorry real quick Craig said he's only going to
44:52rank 30 players maybe we just rank 30 players next year I'm just yeah just take one of these take one of
44:59these sell your old team with one of these guys 35 players and I'm like I can only select people on this
45:05list I think we would do better I swear to god like I just maybe that should be the new turnkey it's
45:11just like can this guy be on your team I don't care if Jalen Waddell's going for $15 cheaper than he should
45:18and then somebody else takes him and everybody goes wow that's great value I don't care and also to be clear first
45:24of all I didn't say Kyle Pitts and Marvin Harrison Jr.
45:28combined have one catch for 33 yards combined keep in mind Kendrick Bourne who just showed up in Arizona at 31 years
45:34old just cranked out I made the mistake this year I'm in too many leagues now so good I made the mistake
45:41of I ended up with Marvin Harrison Jr. in a league because he fell and fell and fell did you start him?
45:47and I was like what if he and I took him and I'm like now I'm fucked I don't want to play
45:54him because I hate him did you play him in week one?
45:57no but that's the point I didn't want to play him because I hate him and he sucked and I'm like great
46:04I can't cut him I don't want this can't trade him I'm so I opened the team and I'm upset he exists
46:10there and it's like there's no world he would have been good enough to justify how upset I am because he's if
46:16he's bad and like that is the thing we forget in August and I just I just it's you know as a
46:23former Ringer colleague of ours once said scouting's not about finding players it's about eliminating players like we need to just take
46:29guys off our board like the real teams do it it's deduction yeah real teams take players off their board we should
46:36do it it's like we really need to promote and teach like reaching for Parker Washington is fine taking Marvin Harrison Jr.
46:42at a discount not fine it's all guys yes exactly we should talk like that all the time too yeah not fine
46:49not fine because for I would say for half of my drafts like in the Ringer League I was like I'm reaching
46:55for Luther Burden because I want him I'm reaching for Parker Washington because I want him and then in other instances it's
47:02like well Jalen Waddle is sitting there at a reasonable price so I guess I'll get him that's the opposite of how
47:08I should be thinking you should only do it the former reach because you want don't take because he's cheap the real
47:15answer is that when the the joy of reaching for Luther Burden and being right way outweighs the disappointment of like reaching
47:21for Luther Burden being wrong and similarly the joy of taking Marvin Harrison and being right sucks it's great DK or Craig
47:28wait Craig who's your next instant regret we're gonna we're gonna go all the way back to last Wednesday but I just
47:34drafting AJ Brown it's just when I when I didn't believe in him last year and I don't I don't know why
47:41why do I have Jalen Waddle and AJ Brown on my teams this year like why you guys didn't listen to me
47:47on the AJ Brown thing gotta say like and I I know it's like yeah well he looked good on that slant
47:54I agree he did but you know what he got hurt and now he's on IR and now they're like it's probably
48:00actually gonna be like six weeks which means really it's gonna be like eight weeks so he's just out half the year
48:07and I'm like I don't know why I did this last year I thought he was bad and hurt and uninterested in
48:13playing football and he changed teams and Bill Simmons is talking about how he's Randy Moss and I bought in and I'm
48:20an idiot and I shouldn't have done it I played scared I didn't want to miss out I didn't want to miss
48:26out the FOMO got you yeah it did it did like a fool I hit you with all the body bliss you
48:32did and I came and Bill had the haymaker yeah I I'm not gonna lie can I tell you guys I've been
48:39meaning to talk about this obviously I talked about A.G.
48:42Brown up a lot this season a lot of people listening probably have A.G.
48:46Brown because they told you to take him it actually I don't know if I could sleep at night if he hadn't
48:52had those two good plays because if he had just kind of gotten hurt immediately and then the idea that he even
48:59looked good at all was in question like thank God he did have two moments where like man he might change this
49:05offense then he got hurt I actually think it would materially change my day-to-day existence sometimes I like I just like can't
49:12even believe football as a sport exists because I'm like yeah it's like A.G.
49:16Brown is so talented and good he caught a couple and then it's just like a guy just kind of fell on
49:22his leg and it's like well eight weeks see you later I'm like I can't believe this is real Dominique Foxworth put
49:29it well this week where he was like there's not many jobs in America where you got a group of 50 co-workers
49:35and they're like yeah man we're not all gonna make it to the end of the day right like we're like we're
49:42just not gonna make it like it is crazy any given play like Vlad McConkie takes a hit and you're like well
49:48he's holding his ribs see in a month and it's just brutal it's so brutal just I the injury thing I you
49:55know I feel like the IR spot in fantasy no one's figured it out yet because it's like it's kind of really
50:01nice it used to be a quirk and now I think you can put players out and more leagues on IR if
50:08you're if they're just out right instead of on IR yeah and I think you guys have more leagues like that and
50:14part of me is like fuck it just give me like 10 spots like I just I don't know the right 10
50:21IR spots I don't know but I just the injury thing just breaks my heart but I have a question regarding the
50:27Patriots real quick are we are we worried about the Patriots offense after week one I know they played the Seahawks but
50:34like Drake May uh Ramondre versus Travion I guess Ramondre had a pretty good game Travion uh you know Romeo Dobbs was
50:40very bad in that one I don't know like I don't think there is Super Bowl contender against the defense as good
50:47as Seattle's because they it's shocking how little they change their offense with so much time yeah but their coaching is still
50:53so good that I think that they will be an above average team maybe make the playoffs I do think it's probably
51:00a year from hell for them overall like I just think they're not I frankly I think they're incredibly well coached but
51:06they're not that talented of a roster is the truth they have a few great Drake May is great Christian Gonzalez is
51:13great like but the I mean Morgan Moses is the right tackle he's been around forever I will say they played Seattle
51:19who's awesome I think their offensive line is better I think their wide receivers are better and it's once again Drake May
51:26in the same system year two in the system so I would like to believe that it's not going to be a
51:32mess I'm not there are some teams I'm like they will not make the NFC championship game I would not I would
51:38not say that the Patriots in the AFC championship game like there's some teams like that's not a serious team the Patriots
51:45the coaching's high level enough but a tough year though DK anyone else just sitting in your craw yeah this one's like
51:51this one's not as emotional as some of the other ones but it's just more like a like a head slapper I'm
51:58like idiot why didn't I do this because we talked about this guy but not taking the Isaiah likely at the end
52:04of every single draft feels like a stupid move none of us I feel like all of us collectively decided we were
52:11like oh yeah the best late round tight end we're like staring at guys like Dallas Goddard and like it's got you
52:17know Jake Ferguson's and all these people Chica Conquo and we're like it's got to be Isaiah likely we all we all
52:24turned key like that's most upside got to be him none of us took him I know I don't understand he goes
52:30out and looks amazing eight catches on eight targets two touchdowns now we've done we've seen this in the past where he
52:37had an incredible week one and then totally fell off but I think this is a very different situation I think he
52:43is a big part of their offense he's de facto number two in their offense which you know obviously is really valuable
52:50in fantasy so and I think he's a really good player I just don't know why just didn't do it I was
52:56just like one of those things where I'm like again why did I not do that I was sitting on the he
53:03was sitting there in the draft room right in front of my face so many times and I have him in exactly
53:09zero redraft we had the whole conversation where the Giants receiver room is just an old version of the Miami receiver room
53:16but with Malik neighbors on top and it's like under the hood of the injured Malik neighbors where John Harbaugh kind of
53:22like politely bullied him into playing the Giants it's Malachi Fields it's a fourth round who's a third round rookie kind of
53:29like Caleb Douglas playing it's Darnell Mooney who is just you know like fourth receiver at this point and like not a
53:35versatile and then Odell Beckham made the goddamn roster after basically being out of the NFL he made the team like that
53:41those are the Giants four they carried four receivers they're interviewing Odell before the first game of the year like that's the
53:48state of the receiving Giants are the only Sunday night football intro I could ever remember where the intro lineup was 22
53:54personnel it was a fullback a running back two tight ends and one receiver on the Sunday night football intro that like
54:01that's the Giants receiver room and we didn't yeah I don't know how he did Isaiah he was the number one tight
54:07end in fantasy this week I think I do have a whole I do have a whole theory on this but I
54:14just the Giants when you go full back running back to tight ends you're going such heavy personnel that like in theory
54:20you could match that with four linebackers well the Cowboys don't have four linebackers you know what I mean so they bullied
54:27him off the field so I do think tight ends are going to carve up Dallas this year but likely it's going
54:33to be good for New York whenever man oh he looks awesome he's great he's only 26 years old fifth year the
54:40man he actually checked a lot of boxes for like things that breakout tight ends usually have like their their characteristics heading
54:46into a season he like checked every box we need to be comfortable reversing players sometimes I the thing that actually bothers
54:53me is we were with market but we talked about all these underlying things he should have been flipped Harold Fannin I
54:59can't believe we ranked Harold Fannin have Isaiah likely we should it's like Drake May last year where we were the highest
55:06on Drake May of anybody and we're like the hype is right and it's not actually priced in still and we're like
55:12we know Deshaun Watson's bad all the spreadsheets have no idea that Deshaun Watson is the yips like it's worse than the
55:19out the 10,000 simulations can even imagine like likely needs to be where Fannin is and Fannin needs to be like way
55:25way outside the top hundred right and I can't believe we didn't fucking do it oh at least you can enjoy at
55:32least you can enjoy him on your real team Heifetz that was sick to just beat the Cowboys and have them suck

56:23I had instant regret watching Ashton Gentey after not taking him because of this fake ass ankle injury and he's totally fine
56:30and looks like the best running back in the league I believed in this guy all offseason thought he was awesome as
56:36a player didn't pay attention to any of the shit on analytics that says he was bad last year I believed in
56:43the coach I believed in the scheme I believed in the offensive line upgrades and I didn't touch him with a 10
56:49foot pole in drafts this year because he hurt his ankle a month before the season and I feel like a fool
56:56Craig I after the whole ankle injury scare thing I was in a draft and I accidentally auto picked on one of
57:02my thing I was like camping or biking I can't remember what was happening and I like missed the window it was
57:09like a two-hour clock or something slow draft and I came back and I had drafted him in the second round and
57:15I was like oh fuck like oh that's such bad value so risky or whatever and then I just watch him week
57:22one I'm like hell yeah this is the best this is the best feeling ever auto draft maybe is the best thing
57:28that's ever happened to you it's it's actually like I don't know why we do this sometimes I we got points in
57:35week one we got an email from someone named Eric Ebone breakfast was leftover Sundays door dash last night from friendlies holy
57:41shit Eric geez that's wild wait what is it a leftover sundae from friendlies for breakfast like an ice cream sundae I
57:48yeah it's spelled with an e wow that's sick that's awesome I've never wow uh Eric says I have a dilemma my
57:54wife's auto drafted team doubled my team score in our matchup breakfast what's wild I said this guy's married and he's eating
58:00that for breakfast I know Kevin McAllister breakfast he's married he Eric literally said my wife auto drafted her team and doubled
58:07my score this week she is now offering to manage my other teams for me yeah how do I respond I'm not
58:13gonna lie so this is this is hilarious the auto draft to the auto draft point I am in a league with
58:20Skippy's family and there's like four people in the league that quite literally never look at their rosters we've been in this
58:26league for over 10 years I've never once won it and I'm like this is the most embarrassing thing I'm a freaking
58:33professional fantasy football person I've never even beaten the four people that don't even look at their rosters the entire year I
58:39I had to auto draft that one this one this year because I think we were doing our live show that literally
58:46that night what is and my team is fucking stacked we I kicked ass week one I think I'm gonna win it
58:52this year is there an equivalent where like the theoretical experts in an industry have no edge on normal people like is
58:59there another type of sector like that oh yeah that's a good question you know we're like email us at ringer fantasy
59:05football gmail.com I do have a couple in mind but like where an auto drafting team theoretically has the same chances of
59:12you as winning at winning yeah I want to know that okay can I mean you know what it is it's investing
59:18in the stock market like just invest in an et just like an s&p 500 you're gonna do better than like the
59:25so-called x the s&p is just auto drafting more or less yeah it's the wisdom it's the wisdom of crowds it's just
59:31dollar cost average just put it in s&p right so yeah over a long period that I simply is just auto drafting
59:38is good I do have a thought I want to pitch you guys in this and I think we should actually build
59:44it into our rankings next year I want to call it vibe it's value including basic emotions okay okay I like I
59:51like the acronym already basic things like do I hate this player do I hate watching this team do I want to
59:57watch this person play football Josh Allen vibe it's like his correct ranking is 28 the vibe of yeah basic emotions of
60:03when Josh Allen scores 38 points I feel like I have two cocks he should be 16th yeah and Marvin Harrison's ranking
60:10unadjusted is like 75th but when I watch him get one catch for me I want to die so he's gonna be
60:16140th and like we actually should fucking include that because that's the lived experience of playing this stupid game I like it
60:23I like it yeah let's do it vibe is a very like modern name for an acronym it feels like it sounds
60:29like a CBD drink but I do like it what is the what is it value including basic emotions okay it's good
60:36we can work with that I agree we should have a secondary ranking yeah you're like if you if you want to
60:42like come in third use her rankings if you want to have fun yeah and maybe still come in third use the
60:49vibe we'll just remove all the players that'll potentially piss you off yeah if you want to like actually have fun watching
60:55football this season we'll we'll give you different rankings I think that's what we should fucking do oh okay moving on the
61:02last thing I have to did you guys see that Adam Schefter posted that the when Bo Nix broke his ankle before
61:08the AFC championship yeah Drew Brees yes and then blew my mind and and not only that so then Drew Brees then
61:15reached out to like the Hall of Fame to make sure that if he played in this game that it wouldn't delay
61:21his ability to get into the Hall of Fame and they said no it's fine so then he went to a field
61:28and practiced and said that his shoulder hurt too much and he had no velocity throwing like 15 yards so he eventually
61:34said no he's 47 years old I can't believe it got that far honestly yeah yeah yeah I just I that makes
61:41me think a lot less of Jarrett's did him right yeah he was what's his name Peyton was like talking and stood
61:47him up so much I'm like you really went and tried to get a 47 year old it's almost like Sean Peyton
61:54is not a reliable narrator it's almost like he doesn't tell the truth interesting do you think he's what he probably what
62:00we probably didn't know about Sean Payton telling his wife to draft Jalen Waddle is that Sean Payton's probably also in that
62:07fantasy league and is sandbagging his own wife and then he probably drafted Pat Bryant yeah that's a good point all right
62:13update on the ringer fantasy football league yeah so I would like to start by saying that how are things going good
62:19everything good yeah how'd you do Craig everything good in that league Bangkok Craig is in the trenches you are 0 and
62:261 you're last in the league in points Bangkok Craig is down in the muck right now clawing his way out I
62:32will rise don't you worry I'm not worried I'm not worried at all you look a little worried now this is like
62:39we're right back to last year Heifetz and I are in first and second I think this literally I got those first
62:45no one talks about the fantasy regular season Deacon I ran the table we were just yeah we were the number one
62:52and two yeah look we had a couple bumps and bruises along the way it made a bad start some tough matchups
62:58for the squad Drake may against Seattle we'll be all right um but yeah I just you know I wanted to even
63:05things out I didn't want everybody to get super mad and it's like whoa all three of the Danies and Craig are
63:11top three in the league it's cheating so you're welcome I will say real quick Heifetz is he had the second highest
63:18or what I don't know what score you got you didn't get the second highest score but you're in second now how
63:24many points did Bryce Young get you after all that effort thanks for asking DK he was the third best quarterback in
63:31fantasy football remarkable after you literally everyone block him out of yeah to fuck me over and take how many quarterbacks were
63:37taken between like the ninth and the tenth and eleventh rounds combined like 18 yeah yeah I took all you guys two
63:44of them uh I got Bryce Young and I beat everyone except Josh and Caleb what like this is another per this
63:50is this is a perfect example of fantasy football we literally tried to steal 27 quarterbacks from you and you were like
63:57fine I'll just take whichever one's left and you were second you were grudgingly I took Bryce Young yeah I he beat
64:03every quarterback except Josh Allen and Caleb Williams like your team Jalen wall you had Jalen Waddle on your lineup your defense
64:10got you one point and you're still second in the league in points because you're Bryce Young goddamn right can I can
64:16I point out a quick fact here we've been revel in it for a minute I scored 183 points the next closest
64:22team Heifetz scored 129 yeah yeah yeah nobody yeah yeah I'm it turns out taking Derek getting 30 plus points from Derek
64:29Henry Kenneth Walker and DeAndre Swift feels it feels really good Derek Henry is an example of what we're supposed to do
64:35which is decide on something at the end of the season and just not fucking change our minds which was Derek Henry
64:42still got it don't let anyone like build the aging into like his I took him in the first round unnamed unnamed
64:48sites had him 30th and I'm like I I just that that's yeah I got an F for my draft by the
64:55way hundred 183 points wait I have a question how did um Bill and Dave took um kickers in the eighth round
65:01how'd they do Dave Chang and Bill just taking Cam Little and Aubrey in round eight how'd they do Bill's in 10th
65:08I believe Dave is in 11th oh yeah dead last with Craig okay well he built by 80.
65:13Hi but you're closer to last in points than you are first so settle down I just am at it you two
65:20for not backing me up when they were taking kickers and I was the only one who's like that's a really stupid
65:26idea and then you guys you guys weren't there with me I'm not gonna lie that's all right we kind of threw
65:33you to the wolves a little bit on in the early in the early part of the draft as well I'm like
65:39in a dark alley screaming at Dave Chang about a kicker he's like well they have a lot of points and I
65:45turn around and I'm like I'm the only one I'm like okay I'm like I added Cairo Santos 24 hours before week
65:52one and he got me 12 points if your opponents are making mistakes don't interrupt him all right Sun Tzu yeah well
65:58he already did it well then Bill did it right after that yeah we were hoping for a run on him sure
66:05okay it's time for an important segment it's time for fantasy court ooh definitely don't tell anyone about this thing that you're
66:11doing I don't really want to be handcuffed the definition of an object is a material thing that can be seen and
66:18touched the music is so dramatic it's one of these days we're gonna add the Craig saying night to me is when
66:24it's dark to me night me me is when it's dark that's a good point like how can you dispute that spot
66:31the life fantasy court this one's from Rachel Rachel our bone Rachel's the plaintiff breakfast is a banana with peanut butter cherry
66:37chia seed yogurt and a coffee with pumpkin pie creamer wow okay sounds good Rachel says I am one of the seven
66:44it's a fantasy court case all hail Rachel says I am in a league with my fiance and this week I played
66:50the commissioner of the league in our matchup and the commissioner is officiating our wedding later this year okay we have a
66:57ton of weird rules in this league including defensive individual defensive players so linebackers and stuff yeah and they get bonus points
67:03and apparently there's now points for punt and kick returns and a kick return yard is a tenth of a point so
67:10kick return yards like a rushing yard okay so the returners are worth a lot yeah so a return from the one
67:16to the 15 yard line which is a bad return you did a bad job you shouldn't have done one and a
67:23half points yeah so Rachel saying this really juices players like Rashid Shaheed who are good returners yeah so the league voted
67:29all these scoring changes via what seems like a scatter shot survey in the league chat Rachel says probably 10 surveys with
67:36like three to four options were all posted within like an hour or two I can't even keep up with my like
67:42really important work email having to keep up with a bunch of I'm telling you if you are the commissioner of a
67:49league it should be a full fledged dictatorship it should be an authoritarian regime no that is on anything no votes it's
67:55never it never works just fucking why I love these I it is why I love these because it is the smallest
68:01version of a government and it really is smallest version of government and I'm learning like it don't work yeah we tried
68:08democracy now on the way else yeah it had a good run so Rachel writes our commissioner did not adjust the league
68:14settings to reflect return rule okay so now it's week one and the commissioner who again is Rachel's wedding officiant are playing
68:21each other Rachel versus her commissioner slash wedding officiant and the commissioner officiant starts Rashid Shahid who is one catch for four
68:27yards and gets not like you know point four yards then the game ends and the commissioner realizes he did not add
68:34the kick return rule and changes the league settings which results in Rashid Shahid getting eight more points for his 80 kick
68:40return yards oh do we think this rule should be included in week one since he didn't even add the rule and
68:47only changed it when he noticed his player did not get enough how should there be an issue was that the difference
68:53between a win and a loss I followed up with Rachel to see if the outcome changed but I kind of don't
69:00think that should change the answer okay I have an immediate thought do you guys yeah look I think so the way
69:06I see it is the commissioner himself forgot to change the rule you got to live with that buddy sorry you're gonna
69:13you can change it for week two if if the commissioner were not involved in this matchup maybe you could argue to
69:19retroactively change the points and put it back in place if everybody voted on it but the commissioner himself switching it so
69:26that he can get more points and potentially win it's like buddy you're you forgot it's on you you got to live
69:32with your mistake yeah for one week you can change it next week that's how I feel I agree with that completely
69:39I will the I worry that like he messed up someone else though like did he mess up anyone else in this
69:45league and affect material outcomes of games because if he did that makes me a little more worried but I agree with
69:52Craig that said like if he's the only one affected that he has to change it for everyone but him yes you
69:58want to know about the communication manually adjust their scores yeah yeah except it's one of those if there was a draft
70:04and before the draft it was like hey everyone reminder we're doing this thing and everyone agreed that kind of is one
70:11thing however if it was just kind of like yeah I sent 10 polls four of the 12 people voted and three
70:17of the four of the 12 people voted to like do kick return yards so we're doing kick return yards that's kind
70:24of crazy and also never mind the fact that kick return yards I think they're kind of dumb especially now how it
70:30works like I involve making them equal I think not ideal I think ultimately it's his responsibility to get the rules set
70:37correctly before the season starts and if he if it would have benefited him that is shady you make a good point
70:43to going forward it for going into week two I agree but DK makes a good point that like there's there was
70:50probably one game in their league where some some guy should have won because of this kick return rule had it been
70:56correctly instituted and it wasn't is there any world they should just not do this rule if it was not communicating if
71:03it was if it was just the poll I'm kind of like well no because the flip side is that probably affected
71:09how you drafted people well that's the flip side is here's the thing let's say people didn't know and maybe it wasn't
71:16communicated because usually you want to know your rules but if you check the settings and it's not there if you're auto
71:22drafting and the site you're using is not accounting for kick return yards that completely changes the draft list so if people
71:29if it wasn't communicated well I think there's one thing that's clear though it's they maybe they need a new officiant for
71:35the wedding I mean can you trust him is he gonna even show up with a speech we don't know I think
71:42that's the choice I think it's like option a is you gonna have the light the marriage license for the right state
71:48who knows yeah I think kick return yards or officiate the wedding and they they can pick I think if he's a
71:55good commissioner and he wants to earn the respect of the league he should apply the kick return statistics to every team
72:01in the league but his own from week one retroactively he loses the points that week alone and then he changes the
72:07rules permanently for week two and beyond I actually agree with that he's a benevolent dictator that's what he would think that
72:14would be a good that would look good I uh I actually completely agree with that okay I'm glad we're on the
72:20same page with that so do you think he officiates the wedding yeah yeah if he does it that way for sure
72:27absolutely okay good otherwise though all right can I read you guys an email here sure email this one's from Elliot Elliot
72:33writes breakfast was wow I love this breakfast thing man yeah six breakfast sausages three eggs two pieces of toast half a
72:40banana decaf coffee he's gotta be lifting he's getting ready for a marathon that's gotta be a lift right six sausages yeah
72:46that's a lot that guy's starting his day with like 75 grams of protein fueling up so Elliot right so the last
72:53episode we did the band we're doing Craig what month is it if the 80s were nuts month well well let me
72:59tell you about the 80s how nuts the 80s were okay our last band was scorpion yeah scorpions or scorpion scorpion wait
73:06the scorpions the scorpions I don't even know what was it here I got scorpions scorpions what was plural a German a
73:12German band know the drop the so Elliot writes I thought you'd find it interesting that your latest 80s banger came from
73:19a band the scorpions who may have had a song written by the CIA to help end the Cold War really I'm
73:25listening yeah keep going so essentially the scorpion song the winds of change may have maybe been written by the CIA as
73:32a covert mission to get into Russia during the Cold War they're a German man and there is an eight-part podcast series
73:38about it from I get Patrick Keefe who apparently wrote a book called say nothing which then they made a TV series
73:45about apparently Chris Ryan and Andy Greenwald to talk about the show I read the book and watch the series it's great
73:51wow you watch the show read the book didn't bring this up when we talked about scorpions for five minutes that they
73:58were a CIA psyop maybe well sorry the book say and say nothing oh yeah sorry that one's about the troubles right
74:04right that one's not about this sorry sorry you're right yes that one's about the troubles so that guy who wrote that
74:11book and TV show Patrick Radden Keefe yes did a pod an eight-part podcast that is a I can't prove it but
74:17apparently well researched that that song was written by the CIA winds of change and the score and it was like a
74:23psyop to get into right take me to the magic of the moment on a glory night so it's a good song
74:30is that that's kind of what I crazy is so is there like one really creative guy in the CIA like how
74:36do you think they figured that out they're like who who can write a song who wants the Don Draper meme and
74:43it's like hair bands you know what song this that that comment reminds me so much of there was a song by
74:49sting I think it was that and it was like I hope the Russians love their children too or something like that
74:56it was like a very cold war song about hoping song is called Russians yeah and I very vividly remember that um
75:02being like a thing and listening to it and being like scared I'm like this is what wait who's gonna bomb us
75:09I you know what I was gonna know I want an email from our like older listeners I want to email reminding
75:15us like about the cold war because I had a professor once in college be like you guys don't get it we
75:22didn't know anything about what was going on over there he's like we didn't know what cars they drove we don't have
75:28clothes they wore we didn't know what they were doing we had never seen any like he was like you have no
75:35idea how little we knew at the time yeah and I don't think about that but that is kind of crazy to
75:41think about well during the cold I mean still I imagine still but during the cold war is like the American embassy
75:48there like they the Russian KGB would follow literally everyone all around a hundred percent of the time like if you're if
75:54you're in Russia you you have someone following you around the entire time all right Soviet Union I guess but yeah well
76:01I'm surprised why were we allowed to even have an American embassy there for diplomatic communication and things like that yes it
76:07was probably in that like getting assigned to the Moscow yes uh whatever did like uh what's it called bureau yeah but
76:14no but what's it called the embassy in Moscow was like going getting called up to the big leagues like you're going
76:20to the fucking show now like going to Moscow it was even before Ukraine even before the Ukraine invasion the people I
76:26know in DC I had multiple people across different levels of experience tell me that they would rather get deployed to like
76:33Baghdad or Afghanistan than in Moscow like well everything is there yeah yeah anyway but anyway yeah but that's kind of crazy
76:39that is wild so wait can you sorry can you re-explain the story the CIA wrote this song apparently as like I
76:46don't I can't prove it but there's this podcast by a very respected author that investigates that the scorpion song wins a
76:52change was written by the CIA and I don't know to the extent to which but that basically it was like that
76:59was they wanted to get into Russia with music so but I wanted to give them like they wanted to give it's
77:05like it's like seven nation army but for like you know they wanted to get behind the they wanted to get behind
77:12the iron curtain because this is a German band so you're saying yeah but I think they wrote a song that Russia
77:18would like so much that the scorpions would then play in Russia and they could sneak in with them like what do
77:25you mean I don't know but the wall fell down man so who knows I don't know it was I don't know
77:31maybe I don't know what happened man okay but I just found out about this too so here so this what I'm
77:38seeing is basically the the the idea is the CIA wrote it as Cold War propaganda to like um be like a
77:44sign of peace and at the end of communism and like basically be like pro-west propaganda so it was not a literal
77:51plan to like in like invade Russia it was more of a they wanted the song to incite change I don't know
77:57they wanted to incite change and help topple the Soviet Union yes it came out like right it came out like right
78:04after the the Berlin Wall fell got it it's also like it says on Wikipedia it says again I guess there's a
78:10whole eight-part podcast we listen to also this guy this author is like a staff writer at the New Yorker so I
78:17think it is Patrick Raden Keefe is like he's one he's he's on a heater right now he's done some really good
78:23books the thing I'm thinking about is apparently this started as a rumor at the CIA like internally and I keep thinking
78:30about Zero Dark Thirty where like they made a whole movie about like how we got Osama bin Laden and like that
78:36whole story was kind of a cover story to make up to protect the person that actually gave them the info on
78:42Osama bin Laden like the whole thing with the courier and everything it was all made up was it yeah like like
78:49that that is not what happened so I'm kind of like I don't know maybe they made the song interesting yeah it
78:55is very fascinating also that's a great song by the way wins a change yeah yeah the CIA also wrote where's the
79:02love by the black-eyed peas to end the war in Iraq but it did exactly okay Craig tell us about you went
79:08to the Emmys last night tell us about going to the Emmys um it was the Emmys are really fun the Emmys
79:15are like a bigger more chaotic Oscars there's like way more people it's in downtown LA not in Hollywood it's in a
79:21much bigger venue um actually the Oscars are moving into the Emmys venue in two years so the Oscars are going to
79:28be where the Emmys are two years from now much bigger venue but it's much so you're the producer of the town
79:34with Matthew Bellany so you're not like buying a ticket like you're actually going and in his suit and everything yeah you
79:41can't buy a ticket to the Emmys you have to get invited to the Emmys I just realized I didn't really set
79:47that up for you sure sure sure but yes I'm Matt is gracious enough to uh bring me as his plus one
79:54thank god his wife doesn't like going to award shows because otherwise I'd be screwed but um yeah it's cool the Emmys
80:00are just like way more accessible because everyone's kind of just in one area Oscars are like kind of separated by floor
80:07and if you don't have the right pass you kind of can't get to the right floor Emmys it's like anybody if
80:13Mark Ruffalo or Nicole Kidman wants to go get a drink at the bar like it'll be the same bar you're at
80:20that's sweet um so who'd you rub elbows with yeah who's in line at the bar for you well well I the
80:26cooler part is I went to the HBO after party and there was a lot of fun HBO celebs from HBO shows
80:33like I saw Steve Carell I saw Tim Robinson who's in the chair company which is a show I love at HBO
80:39Stephen Colbert was there um I got stabbed by an Emmy in the hand accidentally and I bled I drew blood from
80:45an Emmy yeah like what is the is it like a wing or what I forget how yeah there's like these pointy
80:52prongs at the end of the an Emmy award and it's literally a guy was going down the stairs and I was
80:58going up the stairs and it he accidentally stabbed me in between my ring finger my middle finger and I drew blood
81:05it's on the town Instagram stabbed you you yeah you got stabbed at the at the Emmys by I got stabbed by
81:11an Emmy the wings of the person on the Emmy or whatever that is and then and then what happened did did
81:18Gary Oldman apologize to you or what happened I wish I knew who it was because I'm gonna I'm gonna keep looking
81:24for them but it was cool uh HBO did a great job it was like really good food it was like at
81:31this kind of fun social club place and they were just like we had like howlin raised chicken and waffles there was
81:37like Henry's secret ice cream which is like this new ice cream spot in LA they did a very good job I
81:44was I was kind of eating my fill I didn't have dinner so I was kind of just going from station to
81:50station Matt and I just kind of eat a lot when we go to these parties yeah so yeah that sounds awesome
81:57what uh who was the best dressed who was the best dressed uh I think it hates asking being asked questions and
82:03then I love him asking just like the sorry who's the best dress well Meg Stalter who's in show hacks was literally
82:10dressed as an Emmy she painted her body gold I'm looking so I'm gonna give it to her really yeah who's that
82:16Meg Stalter oh wow yeah she literally dressed as the Emmy that's funny I thought like the in memoriam really hit the
82:23in memoriam with uh uh Catholic uh Catherine O'Hara really hit yeah I have it's your girl Mariska Hargitay she crushed I
82:29thought she was she was off dude the opening bit right yeah the opening bit with uh Jalen Brunson and she was
82:36like you have no idea what it's about sorry like I have to do this all my own Jalen I don't have
82:42anyone to tip it in for me it was really good they did a Dolly Parton tribute that was good um and
82:48Widow's Bay was like the big winner Widow's Bay fucking cleaned up they won 14 Emmys dude what about Mulaney coming I
82:55forget what award Mulaney did like best actor in a drama and he just had like a like a five minute stand-up
83:01bit he did yeah you know what I didn't realize it was hilarious it absolutely it was like easily the funniest part
83:08of the night he's just the best dude he's so I guarantee you he was like he told the Emmys producers he's
83:14like I'm just give me five minutes I'm not telling you what I'm saying I'm just gonna go out I'll do it
83:21don't worry and he did this whole bit about like how men have been slighted in television for years and how they
83:27deserve a chance and how uh the types of roles that men play he had a DJ he was like the once
83:34he's like the great DJ Khaled once said that real men and they bleeped that out on NBC yes they bleeped it
83:40on TV I didn't realize you couldn't say that can you say that on Netflix are we gonna bleep that on Netflix
83:47I don't know um but it was really fun it's always uh it's always a treat you know and a privilege to
83:53be able to go to these things it was cool trying to think if I uh my show slow horses won for
84:00best directing yeah direction yeah jack and I have to watch slow horses I know you love it DK but can we
84:06just we got off the Craig being stabbed in the hand too quick what did you you're bleeding at the Emmys what
84:13what do you would now what is it the after party at the Emmys I was bleeding oh so you got you
84:19got stabbed by an Emmy at the HBO after party that's yeah because there's no there's no if you're at the Emmys
84:26no one's running around with Emmys just yet I guess after they win but at the after party everyone like I saw
84:32Noah Wiley was holding two Emmys from the pit and he's like holding them just kind of walking around holding his tequila
84:39and two Emmys so they're really heavy I know I was gonna say oh yeah I forgot yeah the pit won everything
84:45and so everyone's just what are people so when people put their Emmys down are people like losing their Emmys and shit
84:52like well I think you you know you got a team around you you know you hand it to your assistant or
84:58something somebody on your team can hold your an Emmy holder so what are you doing when you're bleeding now at the
85:04HBO after party you know I just poured a martini on it to kind of sterilize it nice and then there was
85:11a martini fountain there was like a martini ice sculpture bar inside of a fountain and you could like build a martini
85:17from an ice sculpture it was they go hard at these things and then Matt was like dude this is nothing 20
85:24years ago this stuff was like 10 times as crazy the money that they used to spend on parties in Hollywood back
85:30in the day they used to host premieres on the Santa Monica pier they would close down the pier for like spider-man
85:37and it would be like the entire thing was just for this movie premiere now it's like they shut down half a
85:43street you know you guys ever feel like we missed an era ever we're about to do 80s month continued so yes

86:16take this one if you like Craig you just got last one did I okay then you take it because you hit
86:22us with scorpions oh that's right you take it you take it absolute banger this is coming from a man who kind
86:29of I don't want to say this man's ugly because that's rude but I did have I did have a take that
86:35like we need more ugly musicians again because they made better music and so I'm not going to say that this guy's
86:42ugly but he doesn't look like a pop star he doesn't look like a major musician he's not hot right um I'm
86:48going to go with in the air tonight by Phil motherfucking Collins oh my god Collins 1981 he looks like an accountant
86:55and he's on stage look at this video I just sent you he is we have the same Instagram this came up
87:01with my algorithm he's wearing like a crisp button-down shirt and a headset like he's literally an IT guy it looks like
87:07he's about to give a TED talk about like some computer chip or something yeah he looks like he's like number six
87:14at Amazon and he and this is what he wore to perform he's really sweaty from the 90s he like he wore
87:20this to perform it looks like he was at a dinner with friends and they're like Phil you know you're on right
87:27he's like oh crap like he put this on on purpose this is just what he wore and he just goes and
87:33absolutely brings down the house within the air tonight I love it's like so iconic you know what this reminds me Phil
87:40Collins reminds me so much of that line from uh from Austin Powers where she's like in the 70s you could be
87:46a sex symbol and have bad teeth like in the 80s you could be ugly and be a sex symbol you know
87:53what they didn't care back then what's different about now because honestly this probably has to do with how impatient we are
87:59because of modern technology and social media and all that crap but like dude back in the day in the air tonight
88:06takes a long time to get going like it is forever you real there's an entire old town road before anything cool
88:12happens I mean songs like um money for nothing by dire straits or like four play long time by Boston it literally
88:19has four playing the title but like it takes like two minutes before like the song gets going but by the time
88:25you get there where it pays off when you wait yeah the payoff is twice as good so it's just a shendo
88:32song we have a whole playlist people were willing to wait for the good things back then man this this video from
88:38that concert man dude he just had it sweet he looks like Steve Ballmer out there like on stage with Bill Gates
88:45like he looks like he could be one of them doesn't he get behind the drums and like he does the whole
88:51like thing and and sings it well because it's why he's wearing the headset oh yeah yeah it's not because it's it's
88:58not because it's cool no he looks like he's playing halo on his break yeah that's he's like answering like a service
89:04call in the middle of the concert it's like a lunch break lunch break playing he's like the lamest streamer of all
89:11time I love it it's the best people were more comfortable back then just being themselves should we should we do it
89:17should we get those headsets for an episode dude he's in like slacks and a belt like I don't what he's in
89:23front of like a hundred thousand people it's great he looked like he was like at work he does so good I
89:30mean he was technically at work he's just walking around he looks like Chris Nolan on set like it's unbelievable this is
89:36like legitimately how my dad dressed he does it's crazy it's so good uh like pleated slacks what are the what are
89:43like the really generic dress shoes called I don't even know what those are called oxfords sure he's he's got like a
89:49severe widow's peak like it doesn't care he's balding he's like whatever you know what though he's he rolled up his sleeves
89:56yeah so he's he's a little you know he's a little loose casual yeah right that's that's his party outfit took his
