Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeProjection20:07

Insight page
NegativeValue41:41

A listener take suggests that swapping Jalen Hurts to the Texans and CJ Stroud to the Eagles would benefit both teams, though the source pushes back, noting that Hurts' success is heavily tied to the Eagles' dominant offensive line and the 'tush push' play.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection44:15

Insight page

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

NegativeValue57:14

The source notes that Justin Jefferson is being priced as the fourth receiver off the board, suggesting there is no value at his current ADP despite his talent.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

PositiveValue52:23

The source identifies Kyler Murray as a 'screaming value' in fantasy drafts, emphasizing his rushing upside (550 yards two years ago) and his role as a perfect regular-season quarterback. The source notes he is frequently falling in drafts, sometimes into the 14th round, making him a high-upside target.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

PositiveProjection26:53

0:23Why wait? Welcome to The Ringer Fantasy Football Show.
0:26My name is Danny Heifetz and I am joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Horlbeck and today it is Power Hour where every Wednesday we power rank something.
0:34And this Wednesday we are power ranking things we are excited for this NFL season because the season is starting, Danny Kelly.
0:41We're actually here. It's crazy. I cannot believe we're starting.
0:43We have a Wednesday game. Is this the first time ever that we're starting on a Wednesday?
0:48I can't remember. Is that right? There's been another Wednesday kickoff?
0:52Like 13, 14 years ago, the Democratic National Convention was like on a Thursday so they did it like the 2012 season.
0:58Politics always getting in the way. But I'm excited about that.
1:01Seahawks is going to kick the Patriots butts. We're going to have a preview for you guys of week one.
1:07We're also going to be going. We're going to have like a Patriots Seahawks conversation after that game free this week.
1:13We're going to have a Niners Rams conversation after the Australia game.
1:17No one knows when it is. Kyle Shanahan doesn't know what time that game is.
1:21Nobody knows when Niners Rams will be. But whenever that game happens, we're going to have a reaction to it that'll be up on the feed this week.
1:29And then we're in our in-season schedule, right, Craig?
1:32We got Sunday recaps, Monday waivers and power hours on Wednesdays.
1:35And we're going to have previews for each week on Friday.
1:38So we're here. We're in the in-season. Don't touch that dial.
1:42Go look at that dial and leave it alone.
1:44We are going to get to listener purges. We did the take purge earlier this week.
1:49It's the most fun we probably do all year.
1:51And then all the listeners sent in purges, including the Discord channel.
1:55Join the Discord if you like Discord. That'll be really popping with the games happening and actual threads.
2:00But so we have emails and also take purges from listeners.
2:03Fantasy Court is back. Emails Fantasy Court. We're going to settle your disputes because we are actual lawyers.
2:09And so settle your Fantasy Court disputes with us.
2:11Emails those. And we'll talk about the Ringer Fantasy Football League.
2:15We're going to get at all that. But first, we're going to take a quick break.
2:19This episode is presented by Verizon. Let me tell you all about Verizon's new simplicity plan.
2:24You get one plan, one price, just $30 a line per month, even for a single line.
2:29So while everyone is running four trade analyzers before offering a backup tight end, Verizon said one plan, one price.
2:35Sometimes the simplest move is the best one, like the simplicity plan.
2:38Head to verizon.com today. For new customers who switch to Verizon, $30 per line includes auto pay and switch discount, additional taxes, fees, and terms apply.
2:46All right. It's time for Power Hour. Week one Power Hour.
2:49Week zero. Never know what to call it, but we're going to go with week one.
2:54For those who don't know, we Power Rank every Wednesday.
2:57We're going to Power Rank stuff. And this week, we're Power Ranking things we're actually excited to see because the season's here
3:03and we talk about all this stuff in circles.
3:06And now it's actually just arriving. It's like this thing in theory.
3:09And then suddenly it's like no longer on the horizon.
3:12You just get out of the car and you're here.
3:15So we're going to go through and just things we are earnestly, unironically, just happy to see on our televisions this week.
3:21Yeah. Excited to see, curious about. And I will say that Power Hour is going to sound a little bit different this
3:28year because, look, we're on Netflix now, okay? And Netflix, we can't just play TomTom Club on Netflix.
3:33We'd have to pay TomTom Club a lot of money and we can't do that.
3:37So TomTom Club, if you want to help us out, hit us up.
3:41If you're listening, that'd be great. Either the Toms.
3:44Either the Tom or Tom, or if there's somebody in club, maybe.
3:47Please hit us up. But in its place, we're going to be testing out new sound drops today.
3:53We have three that we're going to run through.
3:55We're going to play them kind of in order, back to back, over and over.
4:00By the end, we're going to see if one of them sticks.
4:03Maybe we'll hate it and move on to a new one next week.
4:07Also at home, if you're listening and you have an idea for what the sound drop should be that is royalty free,
4:13let us know and we'll consider it. Email us.
4:16And again, for those who don't know, we're going to do a power hour style, as Craig's alluding to.
4:21So we're going to go, we're going to three minutes on the clock because we were two minutes we were really skimping last year.
4:28We're going to do three minutes on the clock.
4:31And you know what? Just because we're on Netflix, it's not going to change how we're doing this show.
4:37Like Craig said, we're not going to just change because we're on Netflix.
4:40So every three minutes, you're going to hear this sound.
4:43Oh. Okay. That's a little bit of a change.
4:46No, I think we're good. It's pretty good. Yeah, I think that's fine.
4:50Okay. We're going to find, we're going to find what the sound is, but yeah.
4:54So every three minutes, we're going to, we're going to do our pilot Tom, Tom sounds.
4:59We're going to figure out what the new Tom, Tom is, but without further ado, we're going to do it.
5:05Cam, start the clock. Three minutes on the clock.
5:07Danny Kelly, I'm starting with you. Give me the number one thing you're excited to see now that the NFL season is actually here.
5:14I am earnestly and sincerely very excited to see the Chargers and Justin Herbert with Mike McDaniel at OC.
5:20Like that, maybe the most excited I've been to watch a new, like a new offensive coordinator and his team in a really long time.
5:27Yeah. I just, I cannot wait to see what this looks like.
5:31Do you remember when I think Trevor, was it the Trevor Lawrence draft was the first time we had our own feed
5:37or maybe that was two years in, but I remember we ended up just not talking about Trevor Lawrence very much because
5:43we knew he was going to be the first overall pick in the draft.
5:48And then like a week before the draft, we're like, why haven't we actually talked about Trevor Lawrence?
5:53Who's definitely the best quarterback in this class. And like, this is so exciting and all.
5:57And how cool is this? The Jags are going to get Trevor Lawrence.
6:01I feel the same way about the Chargers and McDaniel where I'm like, like a quarter and a half into week one,
6:08Herbert might have 200 yards and two touchdowns. Everyone's going to be like, holy shit.
6:12This is clearly like the biggest leap any team has made this season.
6:16Every now and then things live up to the hype.
6:19Yeah. And you never get credit. And you know, things don't get credit.
6:23Unlike the Odyssey, right? You know what? Look, I am happy that it exists.
6:27It's cool that it exists. I just, you know, it's, yeah.
6:30But we should do a ranking. We should do, we should do things that lived up to the hype.
6:35I actually think number one is LeBron James. Properly rated.
6:38That's good. LeBron's number one. He had the chosen one tattooed on his back when he was like 16.
6:44And he's like, he just the second greatest player ever.
6:47It's pretty damn good. Yeah. That's a good one.
6:49Second greatest? I mean, worse, but I'm just, I think.
6:52Second greatest, the McRibby. I don't know. Yeah. But I think that Mike McDaniel Chargers is going to be right there.
6:58Like, I just, I really think Herbert is underrated in the whole, oh, yes, what a playoff game.
7:04I just think that's going to kind of quietly go away.
7:07All the criticism and everyone's going to, everyone will pretend that they were on Herbert the whole time.
7:12And I just think that this could be really cool.
7:15I understand we're probably just going to step on a rake and it's like Charlie Brown, we're trying to kick the football again.
7:22Maybe. Doing the 20th anniversary of like, this is the year for the Chargers.
7:26But I actually just kind of think it's going to work.
7:29It'll be amazing immediately. Let me throw some numbers at you real quick.
7:33Mike McDaniel in Miami in four seasons. They were 12th in points per game in that stretch.
7:3823.3. Basically the same, almost exactly the same as what the Rams have averaged over the last four years in scoring.
7:44The Sean McVay Rams. They were 11th in points per driver of that stretch.
7:488th in success rate. 8th in yards per game.
7:515th in yards per play. 4th lowest three and out rate.
7:54And the 12th most rushed TDs for those of you who are hoping for Omari and Hampton to be a thing this year.
8:01And he did all of that with Tua and Tyler Huntley at quarterback.
8:04And like half that time was with kind of noodle arm Tua.
8:08Totally. And I think we're kind of forgetting a little bit about McDaniel.
8:12He got fired or whatever at the sort of a sloppy end to this whole Tua era in Dolphins history and everything.
8:18But man, I just think there is a real chance like after two months or something, we're talking about this team.
8:24This is like similar enough. Oh God. I kind of like it.
8:28It's also quite long. You gotta fade it out.
8:30Ooh. Wow. I like that. The sound drop itself takes three minutes, so that's its own category.
8:35Yeah. Right off the bat, I'm gonna rule that one a no.
8:39Oh. Really? I like that one. Really? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
8:42I mean, you know. I totally agree, DK. I think that's among the top three things I'm most excited for.
8:48I would say the thing I'm most excited for is are the Bears and Caleb Williams actually going to be a franchise of destiny?
8:55Or was last year a one-off run where this team got really lucky, hit a couple Hail Marys, won every single score
9:01game they were in, and they're gonna go back to being basically a team of regression?
9:06And to me, it's basically Heifetz, are you thinking with your brain or are you thinking with your dick for the Bears?
9:12In the words of Robin Williams, men have enough blood to, you know, oh, fuck, men have two heads but not enough
9:18blood to run both at the same time they screwed it up.
9:22No, but I- You're paraphrasing him, yes. I hear you.
9:25I might be a quote, I don't remember. I think this is a great one.
9:29I mean, I have said this a lot. I just think Caleb Williams is Aaron Rodgers all over again.
9:35I can't speak highly enough about him. I think he's already gonna be the best quarterback in Bears history, basically.
9:41I think the defense is gonna suck, but that might actually make it more fun.
9:45Yeah, like I- There's a few things that interest me about the Bears this year.
9:49One, I think all of the emphasis people are putting on, what were they, 7-2 in one score games last year, and
9:56the Hail Marys, and all that stuff is gonna go crest back to me.
10:00I would like to counter that with, like, year two in Ben Johnson's system.
10:04And Caleb Williams actually not even being that great for a little bit of last year because they were just figuring stuff out.
10:11And then actually kind of hitting their stretch. I would also argue that close games build momentum.
10:16They build confidence in high-pressure situations. And so, sure, maybe it'll even that a little bit, but I feel like the floor
10:22is just gonna be way higher with the Bears this year.
10:25Yeah, I think it is one of those things where it's so fascinating because we're pairing up Caleb Williams, who was one
10:32of the highest, the most hyped quarterbacks in our lifetime, right?
10:35Like, he's up there with all of them. He's up there with Peyton.
10:39He's up there with Andrew Luck in terms of just hyped quarterbacks.
10:42And first year was a disaster. Second year, there was a ton of improvement.
10:46And he was paired up with, I would say, one of the most hyped offensive play callers in Ben Johnson.
10:52What he did with the Lions, I think everybody wanted it.
10:55Like, you know what I mean? Everybody wanted Ben Johnson.
10:58He waited a year. He decided to go back to the Lions to wait for the right opportunity.
11:04And then it is just this storybook potential pairing between the great play caller and the great quarterback prospect.
11:09And can they mesh together and create, like, the most magical offense?
11:13Maybe. I'm still kind of a little bit skeptical, I think, in the back of my mind.
11:18Just a little fear that Caleb is a little too messy and too reliant on out-of-structure playmaking.
11:22I think a lot of people feel that way.
11:25I mean, the Bears are 16th in Super Bowl odds.
11:2816th! They almost made the Final Four last year.
11:31They have the third best odds in their own division.
11:34The Lions and Packers have better odds. Oh, I kind of like this one.
11:38I kind of like this one, too. Oh, once again, too long, but fun.
11:42Maybe we can cut that one by 70% and it'll work.
11:45Speed it up. One final thing on the Bears.
11:48They have the best rest edge in the league this year.
11:51Warren Sharp does, like, rest edge. They have number one, 15 extra days of rest.
11:55Oh, interesting. Than their opponents. Nice. All their bad starters on defense will be very well-rested each week.
12:00No, it matters. The thing I'm most excited to see actually just begin this season and just tired of talking about it.
12:07I want to see it. I want to see the Jalen Hurts-AJ Brown revenge tour.
12:11Ooh. I want to see it start. Who's more interested in revenge?
12:15Do you think it's quietly Jalen Hurts? Because the obvious answer would be AJ Brown.
12:19But do you think it's secretly Jalen Hurts? I was shocked Jalen Hurts did that interview last week.
12:24That, like, big interview. Was it with GQ where he sat down?
12:28And he sat down for, like, a long time and that thing went viral.
12:32He was like, oh, he has the interview to stay because he wanted more time.
12:36But I was shocked he even addressed it right before the season.
12:40I think that alone meant to me it was bothering him.
12:43I want to see Jalen Hurts actually do this offense everyone can't say he can do.
12:48And I want to see AJ Brown have, like, 1,800 receiving yards and be really angry.
12:52I want to see these things play out. Well, because I would say it's very obvious to me that Jalen Hurts is
12:59way more to prove than AJ Brown. Oh, yeah.
13:01I mean, people might think AJ Brown is, like, over the hill physically.
13:05But I don't think anyone is questioning whether or not AJ Brown is a good player.
13:10I think there's legitimate questions. If Jalen Hurts is not good in week one, the narrative will continue to grow that Jalen
13:16Hurts was perhaps, like, a two-year flash in the pan.
13:19I think he also— You could almost say propped up, propelled forward by teammates, maybe?
13:24Just shoved into success. No, I actually think Jalen Hurts has a chance to be really good in this Eagles offense.
13:30I just—whatever happens, it's going to be, like, really messy.
13:33And honestly, it's going to be really interesting. If Jalen Hurts is fantastic in the Sean Mannion offense where they're going to
13:39do more, all these things that allegedly he can't do, throwing over the middle, which he has not done as well, no
13:45matter what happens, it's going to be really interesting.
13:48Because if he's terrible, then Eagles fans are going to want to replace Jalen Hurts next season.
13:53And he's going to get Carson Wentz. But the flip side, if he's great, we're going to be like, wait a second,
13:59like, the whole Jalen Hurts was a James Bradbury flag away from having the same amount of Super Bowls as Patrick Mahomes.
14:06Like, the delta on the public perception of Jalen Hurts this season is as dramatic as it could be.
14:11For people that didn't see the interview, what did he say about A.J.
14:15Brown? Because I didn't actually see that. He just was really, he basically was asked, like, did you guys grow apart?
14:21And he was like, obviously. Yeah. But just him even acknowledging it, he's such a quiet, stoic person that even sitting down
14:28for such a long interview, I thought was actually kind of notable.
14:31You know when couples are better, like, divorced than they are together?
14:35Like, I feel like that's Hurts and Brown. I saw them chatting, like, at the joint practice between New England and Philly.
14:41And it seemed like they were getting along. I'm like, you know what?
14:45Sometimes, sometimes you need to move out. It's like Affleck and his, his.
14:49And Jennifer Garner. Co-parenting with Jennifer Garner. Sure. They're great co-parents.
14:52Every other year. Jalen Hurts is Affleck. Just 2021, it was a horrific Eagles loss in the wildcard round.
14:58And Hurts was, it was horrific. And then the next year they made the Super Bowl.
15:02And then the next year was a disgusting Eagles loss in the wildcard round where Jalen Hurts looked unplayable.
15:08And then the next year they won the Super Bowl.
15:11And then last year was a disgusting wildcard loss in the playoffs where Jalen Hurts looked terrible.
15:16And I'm, I just, the Eagles have been way too high on their own supply when they had a good year.
15:22And then they just get all over the place.
15:24What is this song? Wow. This one I kind of like.
15:28What? What do you mean it's a song you kind of like?
15:31That's not going to be in Power Hour. I think I, I think I ironically like it.
15:36I would like to vote that that one is immediately removed.
15:39Oh, come on. You don't like to drop? I, look, there was a time and a place for dubstep.
15:45And when I was 18, I love Skrillex. There was a time and a place for dubstep.
15:50There was. Maybe that time is back. But I don't think so.
15:53Number four, DK, give us, give us another. Yeah.
15:56Well, I, I just, the Eagles, they're an every other year team.
15:59They are. Yeah. I agree with you. I'm very excited to see the Eagles offense.
16:04I can't wait to, they're going to have seven points in the third quarter and I'm going to be pissed.
16:10All right. The next one that I'm very excited about is the answer to the question of whether Lamar Jackson and Jane
16:16Daniels can bounce back after collectively playing horribly last year, especially in fantasy.
16:20I think this is a fantasy specific thing for me because there's a world in which Lamar and Jaden are just one, two in fantasy, right?
16:27Like we've seen Lamar's history, what he's done. And then Jaden as a rookie was, it was incredible, but I just want
16:34to see if they can bounce back is basically is it's going to be so fun to see this in week one.
16:40This is probably the two biggest risky quarterbacks that you're going to have to spend a lot of money on in drafts this year.
16:47I would say Lamar, I'm much more confident that he just had a hamstring injury.
16:52I think like this, the, this surrounding situation of Jane Daniels is much more up in the air, like the offensive line.
16:58Yeah. You have McLaurin and you have digs, the running game, uh, even the system with, with David Blau.
17:04I, I, I heard some guy in the take purge yelling about young offensive coordinators and how that bubble is going to pop.
17:10Thought that was a decent take. Um, but I feel much more confident that even though I guess Lamar Jackson's OC is
17:17also 30 years old, but they also have a new center who I've never heard of a seventh rounder playing center for them.
17:23What could go wrong after Linderbaum's gone, but I feel much more confident.
17:27I mean, it's, we've seen it more with Lamar.
17:30I feel more confident that Lamar is going to bounce right back and Derek Henry and the offense will be fine.
17:36I, I am torn because for the same reason.
17:39Yeah. What's his name? Javon Gwynn. That makes me sad at center, but over, I really would love nothing more than it.
17:45Just a giant Lamar Jackson bounce back season. It's incredible to me how people act like the 44 touchdown for interception season, like didn't happen two years ago.
17:53Two years ago, he averaged 25 points a game.
17:56Yeah. Yeah. I just think Lamar fuck you season would be phenomenal.
17:59I would absolutely love to see that. I feel like people will forget Jaden Daniels rookie season more than they forget Lamar's 2024.
18:06Jaden, the fluke, the fear is that Jaden Daniels like is a twig who's not necessarily going to be able to stay
18:12healthy for like an entire season has a bad offensive line, had Kingsbury.
18:16It's like, I just think people are dubious that he can even stay healthy.
18:20Honestly, that he's RG four. That is the, that is the fear that Washington fans have a Jaden Daniels Lamar.
18:26I mean, he was incredible for six years. I want to see him run again.
18:31I think we all want to see Lamar go fast again.
18:34He's like Ricky Bobby, like just, just, just go fast.
18:37You sure it's not RG five legally? Oh fuck.
18:39That's really good. Oh my God. Jaden Daniels is RG five.
18:43No, we can't say that because it's retired. Well, we can't.
18:46Oh yeah. Right. Um, RG four out of respect for RG three and Jaden Daniels.
18:50That's Jaden. That's good. I just have to like remind myself of how good Jaden was.
18:55Like I have to go back and almost watch highlights from his rookie season to remember that there was a time in
19:01which I thought this guy was like a top three, top four quarterback guaranteed over the next five years.
19:07And that he was literally unstoppable. If it was like third and three, his, at the end of his rookie season, I
19:13was like Josh Allen, Mahomes, and like maybe Jaden Daniels number three in terms of getting a third, third and three Washington made the NFC championship game.
19:21Yes. They made the NFC championship game. What if, what if we, Oh, Cam cut that short.
19:26He's been in the lab. Holy shit. Someone cooked here.
19:29That, how do we feel about that? That's not, I don't like the like, I still don't like it.
19:34It sounds like, like soft core porn. Craig, get the fuck out of here, man.
19:39Come on. It's good. Tom, Tom kind of did too.
19:42Did you make that song DK? Why are you offended?
19:45I don't know. Did you quietly make that? Like soft core porn.
19:48Can I tell you, I don't even know the definition of soft core porn.
19:52I believe it's, I believe it's no penetration. No full penetration.
19:55Yeah, I think so. Fake penetration. I believe nudity is, is okay, but there's no penetration.
20:00Right. I don't think there's even dick. Like you can't, like, it's just, well, maybe that's wrong.
20:05It might be top up nudity. I don't know.
20:08But I believe, no, yeah. It's like all this stuff that used to play on like HBO late at night.
20:14Right. Like, like, like skin a max. Is that what it's called?
20:17All the stuff that we were watching scrambled. Was that what it was called?
20:21I don't know. Anyway. Anyway, the thing I'm most excited to see.
20:25Yeah. What's your soft core porn you're most excited to see?
20:28Well, yeah. I won't get into what I'm really most excited to see.
20:32For the purposes of this show. No. One thing I'm very excited to see, very curious to see is like what CJ Stroud looks like for the Texans.
20:40Because I do think if he comes out the gate, they play the Bills week one.
20:44If he comes out the gate looking solid, I think the Texans will immediately be viewed as the Super Bowl favorite in the AFC.
20:51And yeah, I just, I can't tell if the hate has gone too far with Stroud.
20:56I think it might have. I thought it was very interesting.
20:59Jeremy Fowler reported that he turned down a, that Stroud declined a $50 million a year contract.
21:04The Texans like neither confirmed nor denied that, but it sounds like Stroud is going to play out this season and try to get an even bigger deal.
21:13He's like, everything suggests that Stroud has really like focused up this year, doubled down.
21:17He came dressed to camp like a middle schooler, which I thought was kind of good.
21:22And look, I say this all the time. Complimentary.
21:24Yes. Complimentary. He's focused on the game. I say this all the time, but like year two in the system, we're talking about Caleb with Ben Johnson.
21:32Trevor Lawrence or Liam Cohen. Quietly, this is year two for Stroud and Nick Cayley.
21:36So yeah, I'm interested to see if Stroud can get back to you much like Jaden Daniels, like the guy we knew
21:43two years ago who I thought was going to be one of the best five quarterbacks in the league.
21:48Yeah. I like this one a lot. I think, especially just when you consider, you know, the Texans have one of the best defenses in the NFL.
21:56If he even just plays average, if he even just isn't a disaster, they're going to be, you know, one of the best teams in the NFL.
22:04Um, it doesn't help that, you know, Jaden Higgins got hurt.
22:07I think that kind of potentially hurts them, but they do have a pretty deep receiver core.
22:12Nico Collins. I like Jalen Noel coming into year two.
22:15There's some guys in that offense that I think it would kind of like help pick up some of the slack.
22:21And then obviously David Montgomery, the run game, if the run game can get going even a little bit, just that'd be huge.
22:28Just a little bit. I mean, since Stroud was drafted, the Texans are 31st in rushing success rate.
22:33And they've probably had a bottom five line the entire time.
22:37So I will say the line in the rushing game has not helped Stroud perhaps more than any quarterback in the league.
22:43I think David Montgomery's just rock solid. He's also really good at pass protection.
22:47And Woody Marks was not the rookie last year.
22:50I think that's going to help a lot. I think the offense has got to be a little more creative.
22:56I feel like there was a Kaley offense. There's, there's a lot of stats about how, how under, how underrated Stroud was
23:02when they used to like play action or motion last year.
23:05And when they were just kind of static, Stroud struggled a little bit more.
23:09So I don't know. I, I do think the hate's gone a little bit too far with Stroud.
23:14We have the bad taste in our mouth from those two playoff games.
23:18I mean, four picks against the Pats. He was terrible against the Steelers.
23:22Which of your favorite, which of the five fumbles Stroud had in a playoff game was your favorite?
23:27Whichever one made me think, shit, are the Steelers going to win this game?
23:31Is that the best Texans defense stat that there is?
23:34Is that Stroud fumbled five times in the D and they won a game?
23:38It was, that was like a one point game going into it.
23:42Wasn't that seven to six going into the fourth quarter?
23:45It was very close. Yeah. I, again, if Darnold can win a Superbowl, then Stroud can too.
23:50But also I don't think there's anybody in the league that has more pressure on them this season than CJ Stroud and the Texans O-line.
23:57And this soft jazz. Wow. Anyway, I just, I want to get back to that.
24:01I want it to be Stroud complimentary, not Stroud.
24:04I think, I think I might, is it illegal for me to like pause mid power hour and do a take purge
24:10because it actually involves two players that just came up or is that insane?
24:15Is this a listener take purge or your purge?
24:17It's a listener take purge. Sure. Let's, we'll pause power hour.
24:20I'm going to throw one out there. Okay. Because this is, it's, it's on topic and I just, I just think it has to be done.
24:28Okay. Or do you have to go search and find the email?
24:32No, I got it. We just explained what, if some people didn't listen to the take purge, could you explain what we're doing here?
24:39Yeah. Once a year we step inside the take purge for 60 minutes to give, to give our hot takes that have
24:45been lingering inside us, but without any professional credibility, we're not held responsible for the, any takes that have been festering that
24:51we give out during the take purge every year.
24:54And we did it on labor day this year.
24:57So this, this is a listener purge from nerd works, nerd works and bone.
25:01And I'm a little obsessed with it. It's that swapping CJ Stroud to the Eagles and Jalen hurts to the Texans would be better for both teams.
25:09Oh, interesting. Hurts on the Texans who never Jalen hurts never turns the ball over in Houston.
25:14And then CJ Stroud plays for the Eagles and both teams would be better off.
25:18I want to see it. Who says no? Who says no?
25:21Who says no? Does anyone say no? Well, it's a fun take, but here's my only pushback.
25:26Wouldn't, wouldn't we argue that hurts hurts has been, you could argue that one of the reasons why hurts has been so
25:32successful is because of the dominance of the offensive line and the tush push and like all of that stuff would cannot happen in Houston.
25:40And in Houston, it would be a disaster. Just had to throw it out.
25:44Good take. I was like, I do like to just switch these players who says no discussions.
25:49Eagles fans are like, we would never, but it's not.
25:52Eagles would say no, but it's not hard to imagine a year from now.
25:56Maybe, maybe it dovetails. I have a question that I, that I, I really don't mean to be sycophantic to our boss,
26:02but did Bill Simmons invent who says no? He made that phrase popular.
26:06He did. Right. For trades. Yeah, I think he did.
26:09I don't know. Who says no? Yes. That's become kind of a part of the lexicon in my, like I say, who says no all the time now?
26:17No, that, that one Bill gets credit for. I'm like, I'm like pizza and a salad.
26:22Who says no? Like I'm doing that constantly. Who says no?
26:25And everybody loves it. Softcore porn music for power hour.
26:28Who says no? Who says no? I feel like you guys are kind of messing up the who says no format though.
26:34It has to be two different things. It's true.
26:37No, I know, but I just kind of throw it out there.
26:40I was like a, why not? You know, speaking of messing up formats, we're messing up power hour.
26:46It's my fault. I messed up power hour. We all said yes to that.
26:50But anyway, back to power three minutes on the clock.
26:53Kim, I want to throw one out. Things we're actually excited for.
26:56This is kind of lame, but we haven't talked about this person at all.
27:00This is like maybe the last ride with the chiefs as we know them.
27:04I know there was news. There was news today that Mahomes is playing in week one.
27:09I was like, oh, right. I guess that was kind of a question.
27:13Yeah. Like Patrick Mahomes just coming back off an ACL.
27:16We're in this weird gap year where the first half of Patrick Mahomes' career is over.
27:20And the second one hasn't quite started yet. We still have all the old characters transitioning us to the sequels like Travis
27:27Kelsey's the leader, but they've set themselves up to move on from Chris Jones after this year.
27:32Unless Chris Jones plays great. I think they're going to cut Chris Jones.
27:36Kelsey might retire. And Andy Reid is 68 years old.
27:39And this is probably the last year we have all four of those people.
27:43And it's also Mahomes coming off an ACL. Like, I kind of want to see Patrick Mahomes have this fuck you season.
27:49Like, it's probably very weird for Patrick Mahomes to look and just not be a part of NFL discourse whatsoever entering the
27:55year, at least the least he's been since he started being a starter.
27:59And I would love to have Mahomes come out and just like go guns blazing from the jump.
28:05I don't know if it's going to happen, but I don't know.
28:08It's funny that he's just not a main character entering this year, at least the least he's been so far.
28:14It is funny that throughout the offseason, across most of the NFL media coverage of this upcoming season, there has not been
28:20a lot of like takes about the Chiefs. I'm picking the Chiefs this year to win the division.
28:26I think the Chiefs are going to be sneaky good.
28:28Like, the Chiefs have really just gone undiscussed pretty much for the entire summer.
28:33Which I don't know if that's a good sign for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are a bad sign.
28:38Being in jail and rehabbing his knee. Other than that, Kelsey getting married, I think was more than the Chiefs.
28:44It's all off field stuff. Yes. I don't know if that's a good sign.
28:48Like everyone's sleeping. This is a nobody believes in us team.
28:51Or if it's a bad sign that everybody who analyzes football doesn't believe in them.
28:56Well, he's rushing back from the ACL. It's weird.
28:58I kind of think if the Chiefs miss the playoffs again, I think people are going to have whispers about Andy Reid should be out as the coach.
29:06I think you can miss the playoffs with Mahomes once.
29:09Once you do it twice, people are going to be like, okay.
29:13They're not going to have to fire Andy Reid.
29:15I don't think they're going to fire him after this season.
29:19But if they miss the playoffs again, they're going to go into next year and they're going to be like, okay, well,
29:25you can't miss the playoffs with Mahomes three times.
29:28Like, that's just. Heifetz, weren't you sitting on a take?
29:31We were talking about this when you guys were in LA last week.
29:34We were all kind of like circling a take purge about Kyle Shanahan is going to be the coach of the Chiefs in 2027.
29:41It's the perfect outcome. If the Chiefs miss the playoffs this year, the coach of the Chiefs in like 2029 should just be Kyle Shanahan.
29:49Because Andy Reid's going to be 70. And honestly, the game is moving.
29:52There's nothing wrong with it. Like you're 70 years old.
29:55He's no longer the best coach in the NFL.
29:58And Kyle Shanahan's kind of the perfect person. The Niners thing seems exhausting.
30:02And like it's Kyle Shanahan kind of is Andy Reid.
30:05Honestly, like if you look at Andy Reid's tenure with the Eagles and just making NFC Championship games, not getting over the
30:11hump, offensive genius with game management things, runs an incredible old school program.
30:15Kyle Shanahan. Like I see that Andy Reid beating Kyle Shanahan in the Super Bowl is like Atlas giving the weight of
30:21the world on a Kyle Shanahan's shoulders. God damn it.
30:24Is this what the substation sounds like? That's what the inside of your helmet sounds like.
30:29That's what it sounds like inside George Kittle's Achilles.
30:32But yeah. Yeah. I do think I think there's there's something there.
30:35Niners underperform. Chiefs underperform again. They get rid of Reid.
30:38Shanahan wants a new new situation. He's tired. He's like, I'll take I'll take Patrick Mahomes.
30:43That sounds great. I do. I'm going to already disrespect this new thing.
30:46We don't have a name for it. But I do want to just think that never gets discussed.
30:52Mahomes is career in Brady is like insanely similar.
30:54Like his 20s are over. We're now Mahomes and he's going to be pre ACL tear and post ACL tear will be how we discuss Mahomes is career.
31:03It's the same time they basically tore their ACL and Mahomes is 20s made five Super Bowls one three and then never
31:09missed an AFC Championship game until he tore his ACL.
31:12Well, pretty good 20s. There was a 10 year stretch between Patriots winning Super Bowls.
31:16Oh, four to 2014. It's like there's so there was that dip.
31:20And so it's like it is kind of happening right now with Mahomes.
31:24So I kind of think that there will be a plateau and we don't move on anyway.
31:28The other one I want to throw a three minutes on the clock for something we've talked about a ton that I just want to see.
31:36Like I'm tired of just like predicting what's going to happen.
31:39I can't wait to just watch it. Is Kyler Murray on the Vikings?
31:43This is bizarre to me. It is a huge test for Kevin O'Connell and it's a huge test for Kyler Murray, who
31:49another to steal another Bill Simmons ism is so overrated now that I think Kyler Murray is underrated.
31:55Well, to use another Bill Simmons ism. Can I see it before I hop on board?
31:59Can I see it? Can I watch a half?
32:02What about the Justin Jefferson piece? Oh, OK. We just do an entire episode of Bill Simmons ism.
32:07That'd be actually pretty fun. Yeah. I do just think this Vikings Kyler team's the perfect regular season team.
32:13We did a whole episode. Who's going to be the Colts this year?
32:17I think it's the Vikings. The like everything about Minnesota, honestly, defensively to Brian Flores.
32:21They're really built really well to overwhelm teams with bad quarterbacks.
32:24And then Kyler is a perfect regular season quarterback.
32:27I don't want him on my team for $50 million a year as a as a leader, as a body language guy,
32:33even running the structure of the offense. I have questions under center.
32:37He's played mostly in shotgun. It's like he's an aging, smaller athletic guy, which usually ages badly.
32:42But holy cow, it's almost under discussed. This is the best contract in the entire NFL.
32:46Kyler Murray, if he was a punter, would be not in the top 20 highest paid punters this season.
32:52What do you think is a better deal? Getting Kyler Murray for a million or paying 50 to not have Tua?
32:58What's better? It's a toss up. Who's like getting more out of Tua, Miami or Atlanta?
33:03I don't know. Really good question. I don't know who has a better deal right now, Atlanta or Miami regarding Tua.
33:09Trade them back. Who says no? I don't know.
33:11If you can tell Miami, you would get the $50 million back, but you have Tua.
33:16If Tua is your starter and you're trying to be good for $1 million or you pay him $50 to not be
33:23your starter and you're trying to be bad, what's a better situation?
33:26It's Miami. Tua's going to play three quarters and then the Falcons are going to be like, damn, we kind of wish Jack Strand could play.
33:34Heifetz, I have a bone to pick with this Minnesota take because I don't feel that you fully believe it.
33:39Because if you did, you would have been hyping up Vikings players all offseason and you didn't.
33:44You have not really talked about Jordan Addison, Jawan Jennings, even Justin Jefferson.
33:48I feel like a little Aaron Jones, Jordan Mason.
33:51I feel like you've been lukewarm in Minnesota. You have not leaned all the way in and you just hopping in here September 9th and being like...
33:59Haven't I been saying Kyler is the guy you want?
34:02Kyler, yes. Sure. I think it's a lot like Jaden Daniels.
34:05You said they're this year's Colts. If that's the case, why aren't you drafting every Viking?
34:10I think because if you look at like Jaden Daniels in Washington two years ago...
34:14I don't mean to ambush you. Sorry. This is...
34:17Fine. Fucking ambush me all you want. I'm ready.
34:19Accountability right now. It's power hour. This is our closest to first take.
34:23Power hour is closest to me. We should have a segment called ambush.
34:27That's actually really funny. Two years ago in Washington, who did you want on that team?
34:31You wanted Jaden Daniels. Terry McLaurin. But... Sure. Sure.
34:34But where's Justin Jefferson going? He's going 10th. Like there's no value there.
34:38He's literally being priced like the fourth receiver. There's no value.
34:41Yeah. I just think if you think they're going to be this year's Colts, does that not imply everybody on the Vikings is a screaming buy?
34:49Well, we have been. We've been talking about Jordan Mason as a really good value at running back.
34:54I don't like Aaron Jones because I think Aaron Jones just always gets hurt and has workload management.
34:59We talked about Jordan Mason. I think the person who's going to be good is Kyler Murray, who I said over and over.
35:06He ran for 550 yards two years ago. Kyler Murray is the guy I want fantasy because he's going to be scrambling
35:12and the scramble is going to happen. And if Jefferson's doubled, sure, he might look to Jordan Addison.
35:18He's just going to run. I think Kyler's still way more athletic than people give him credit for.
35:23And again, I have done two different drafts this year where he didn't even get drafted sometimes.
35:28Like he's falling and falling and falling. And I'm just like, he's falling.
35:32I've some fall in the fifth, 14th round. Okay.
35:34Satisfied? Oh yeah. Not really. Because I feel like I meant, Jordan Mason was my sleeper this year.
35:39I feel like you haven't mentioned many receivers. Hawkinson.
35:42We had a whole Kyler argument and you yelled at me about Kyler.
35:46It's just Kyler. I was the one bringing up Kyler.
35:49I'm just surprised you haven't been mentioning other Vikings.
35:51That's all. Hawkinson you were on like three months ago.
35:54You kind of backed off that. I think the answer is because you want Kyler Murray.
35:59It's because Justin Jefferson, I think is priced. This is Kyler will definitely get on the ball.
36:04Jordan Addison. I do like, but I think it's very touchdown dependent.
36:07I just think the person that's like the screaming value is Kyler.
36:11Kyler is the guy. All right. I'm sorry. No, you're not.
36:14I didn't mean to yell at you. I really didn't mean.
36:17I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to call you out like that.
36:21I was more just curious. Like, oh, why haven't you been more into other Vikings players?
36:26Well, I think the short answer is because I think the value is that he's just the scrambling is the value.
36:32Okay. Great. All right. This is like, all right.
36:35Can I fucking talk now about the next thing?
36:37Well, actually, can we do three minutes? Three minutes.
36:40I'm ambushing Craig. Okay. No, no, not really. I actually can.
36:43I just. This is while we're doing unironic. You're going to talk about DK Metcalf and his conspiracy theories for a second there.
36:50It's spreading, Craig. What did he say? Bilateral Achilles tendonitis.
36:53It's like the rot. DK Metcalf. DK, maybe I only read a couple of headlines.
36:57So maybe I didn't actually read into it deeply, but it was basically like, yeah, I'm a conspiracy.
37:02DK Metcalf was asked about this on the when he was doing his press.
37:06He says, yeah, I'm a conspiracy theorist. Shout out my quarterback.
37:10And then he starts talking about, are there, there's a whole nother world.
37:13I didn't even fucking heard this conspiracy. There's apparently a whole nother world on Antarctica.
37:18Yeah. Like a different dimension. I stopped listening, but.
37:20Yeah. You can go there if you want. Aaron Rodgers is like a Hollywood guy.
37:25Do you ever think this is maybe a distraction?
37:27All this bullshit? I don't know. It seems bad.
37:30I would argue it's team building, but. Yeah. They're talking about worldviews, you know?
37:34Do your own research. Have you got an Antarctica?
37:37Team building. They're telling ghost stories around the campfire.
37:39Big deal. Sure, sure. Let them have a good time.

38:15I think this game is going to be even worse.
38:18I think the Seahawks are going to win by even more than they won by the first time in the Super Bowl.
38:24So, I love every bet involving Seattle. I love all the Seattle overs, the Patriots unders.
38:29I like the Seattle spread, the Seattle money line, every quarter, everything.

39:25We haven't given Super Bowl picks. Do you guys have Super Bowl picks?
39:28Sure. I'll go. I'll go. Fuck it. How about this?
39:31The Seahawks. Oh, yeah? Yeah. How about that? Oh, you're following Bill Simmons once again?
39:36Come on. Oh, did he pick the Seahawks? Hell yeah.
39:39Yeah, he did. Seahawks, number one. They just won a Super Bowl.
39:42You really think that they're going to go back to back?
39:45No, but I'm going to say that I do.
39:48What? No. Who? If you had to bet a...
39:51Picking a Super Bowl winner is like so ridiculous to be able to...
39:54The Seahawks are one of the best teams in the NFL.
39:58I'm picking the Seahawks. If anyone's wondering why we didn't do it until now, this is why.
40:03DK hates picking the Seahawks. So DK just said...
40:05DK hates picking the Super Bowl. The Seahawks are the best team in the NFL.
40:10I'm going to say it. You just said, no, I don't think they're going to repeat, but if I had to pick
40:16a Super Bowl winner, which I think is stupid, I would pick the Seahawks.
40:20Yes. That's what I'm saying. That makes literally no sense.
40:23That is like a fucking riddle. I think it's silly to say, oh yeah, this team's going to win the Super Bowl
40:29when there's like 17 weeks of crazy injuries and weird shit that's going to happen.
40:34Like, I don't know who's going to fucking win.
40:36We should pick who we're going to pick to win the Super Bowl.
40:40Do I actually believe in my heart sincerely that any of my picks are going to turn out right?
40:46No. DK. DK. What? If you had to bet a million dollars, who would win the Super Bowl?
40:51Who would you pick? The Seahawks. You would? Yeah.
40:54Okay. I just asked if you really thought that.
40:56I don't think any of our picks are going to be right, probably.
41:00Well, yeah. Okay. Is that, because that's what you asked me.
41:03Do you really think they're going to win? I'm like, I don't know.
41:07Maybe. You're like my mom. I think they're the best team in the league.
41:11You're like my mom and I ask her a hypothetical.
41:14I'm like, would you rather eat gum off the roof of your, the floor of your shoe or would you rather lick a subway handrail?
41:21Would you rather? And she's like, neither. I'm like, well, you can't pick neither.
41:25She's like, why not? Because you can't. That's not the game.
41:29You have to either lick a handrail or eat the gum off the ground.
41:33She's like, neither. Well, I picked the Seahawks. But you just said you don't think they're going to win.
41:38Look, we're going in circles here. Exactly. You asked me to pick a winner and I said the Seahawks.
41:44I'm licking the handrail. Okay. All right. Hi, Vince.
41:46Who do you think is going to win the Super Bowl?
41:50Seahawks, but I don't think they're going to win.
41:52No, I'm kidding. I kind of think, I kind of keep just coming back to Rams-Ravens.
41:57I know it's really lame to just pick the Rams and super teams probably never work and Stafford will get hurt.
42:03But holy cow, man. The Rams are probably going to be really good.
42:07And yeah, like Stafford get hurt. But the Texans defense, anyone gets hurt on that thing.
42:12Stingley, Will Anderson. I'm like, I don't know about them either.
42:15I just think the Rams are going to be really good.
42:18And I kind of believe a lot in Jesse Minter and the Ravens, man.
42:22I think it's Mike McDonald took, he needed an extra year to teach the Seahawks the defense.
42:27But the Ravens, the things Jesse Minter is going to try to do, like they've kind of all know that stuff.
42:33Like Kyle Hamilton knows this stuff. I kind of think they'll just be able to adapt easier.
42:38And obviously it depends on Declan Doyle in this random center we don't really know much about.
42:43But I kind of think the Ravens are good and Lamar kind of shuts everyone up.
42:48Hmm. Kyle. You really think that? Okay. You really think it's going to happen?
42:52No, I don't actually think that. I just say.
42:54I think, I love the team. If you had a million dollars, are you making that bet?
42:59You should have said that on the take perch, predicting the Super Bowl.
43:03What is that mocking me? I'm saying if you literally had a million dollars and somebody said you have to pick a
43:10team that you think is going to win the Super Bowl, who would you pick?
43:14Okay. Okay. Sorry. I was just trying to lighten the moment.
43:17We don't have to re-litigate it again. The team is responding.
43:20No, litigate it again. It's fine. Like, this is not the most common question in the history of all of football.
43:27It is. It is. I'm just saying, like, if we started the playoffs, I'm, like, still not super confident who's going to win the Super Bowl.
43:34My question is not, who do you know will win the Super Bowl?
43:38Of course not. Okay. Well, I think the CX are going to win.
43:42How about that? Okay. And then they're going to beat the Texans.
43:45I didn't give my opponent. Greg is so mad at me.
43:48This is great. I just, I can't believe that you're, like, put out by being asked, who do you think is going to win the Super Bowl?
43:56That's not true. At all. Okay. I'm going to pick the Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl.
44:02That makes me happy. I think it's the best thing left on the board in, like, American sports.
44:07Now that they won the title, I think the Bills would, like, unite the country.
44:11Yeah, I don't know. I just think, like, the Bills are good every year.
44:15Josh Allen has a number one wide receiver. I still think he's the best quarterback in the league.
44:21And I feel like because he hasn't done it the last three years, everybody just assumed it can't happen now.
44:26But I 100% think the Bills would be my pick.
44:29I don't know who I'd pick in the NFC.
44:32It's tricky because, like, the Rams are sitting there.
44:35And I'm like, I guess I would say the Rams, but they just feel so top heavy.
44:40And if you don't pick the Rams, Seattle repeating, and then you get down to, like, the Eagles in San Francisco.
44:46I don't know. Maybe I'll just pick fucking Chicago.
44:48Maybe I'll say Buffalo Chicago in the Super Bowl.
44:51That'd be fun. Yeah. I mean, that would be good for content.
44:54Bad for defense wins championships. But I just do it.
44:57Well, the Bills will win. There you go. So that's why.
45:01You know, there's my pick. DK, what do you think, DK?
45:04Do you think he actually believes that? Look, he kind of did what I did on the whole NFC side.
45:10I'll be honest. I picked the team to win the Super Bowl, which was the question.
45:14You were like, ah, and then the NFC. I don't know.
45:17I'll say the Bears. This makes me so happy.
45:20You did. A couple other things I want to get to.
45:23That's essentially what I did with Seahawks. No, it's not at all.
45:27It's not at all. It is. No, it's not.
45:29You said it's a stupid question. It shouldn't be asked.
45:32No, that's not what I said. It's not a stupid question.
45:36I said a stupid question is you really think that.
45:38I'm like, I don't know. Yeah. No, I believe you said being asked who do I think is going to win the Super Bowl is a ridiculous question.
45:47No, it was your response when you said you really think they're going to win.
45:51I'm like, I don't know. No, this is my pick.
45:54That was what I was reacting to. No, you said no.
45:57I said you actually think they're going to repeat.
46:00You said no. Like, okay. If we're assigning probabilities is what I meant.
46:04Like, who knows? But you think they have the best chance in your mind?
46:08Yes. Yes. Okay. All right. I'm glad we got that.
46:11DK always pretends that predictions mean that like, if you're wrong, you die.
46:14And so he just won't make them. It's fine.
46:17This is why we invented the tank purge. Yeah.
46:20Right. For complicated questions like, who do you think is going to win the Super Bowl?
46:24That was our first segment of ambush. Once again.
46:27I was reacting to your reaction more than the question.
46:30It was like enthusiasm. I was like, oh, really?
46:32You think they're going to repeat? And you're like, well, no.
46:36Okay. Imagine if DK had to do all the Fandul ads and he's like, oh, I got to make a bet for six Patriots.
46:43I mean, who knows? Really? Yeah. I don't actually think this is going to happen.
46:47Maybe the Bears. I don't know. Chicago? I don't know.
46:50It's 32 teams, man. Hell, Ricky. I was high when I said that.
46:54You could be second, third, fourth. We should be able to bet.
46:57Yeah. DK, who do you think will come in fifth this NFL season?
47:01That's what I want to know. Okay. I do want to get to two other things that I think are really funny.
47:07Okay. One, I want to give an update on this Australia game, which I.
47:12It's just being talked about the proper amount. It is unbelievable.
47:15There's a NFL game in Australia. I can't get enough of the time zone thing.
47:19I do think it's funny. David Lombardi, who covers the Niners, noted that for all 70 players on the Niners active roster
47:26and practice squad participated for the first time all year, which is just funny that as soon as they get away from the substation.
47:33One day away from San Francisco. I said this in the take bird.
47:36This is what I'm saying. Niners? You got away.
47:39Kind of. I want to just play the clip that maybe you've seen it already, but if you haven't just, you get
47:45to enjoy this for the first time. Just, you only get to experience this for the first time once.
47:51Cam, can you please play the clip of Kyle Shanahan?
47:54This is like watching the movie Tenet. Yeah, it really is.
47:57Kyle Shanahan. Here's Kyle Shanahan again in Australia, a week early to prep for the game.
48:02He's had seven days to prepare for being there.
48:04Please play Kyle Shanahan trying to explain to the media what day it is.
48:08It was yesterday. I don't even get how that's possible.
48:11So I feel like I'm in the future and then also when we play on our Friday, which I think is a Thursday in the U.S.
48:19We're such creatures of habit. So I call today Tuesday.
48:22No, wait. Sorry. I call it today Wednesday, which is the first day we put in a game plan.
48:27But I think it's Monday. However, it's Sunday in the present.
48:31So like I'm going to mess that up all week if you guys ask me.
48:35But today is just our first day of the game plan, which is a Wednesday.
48:39We'll put in some on a Thursday. Friday is the final part of the game plan.
48:44Saturday, we walk through when we play on Sunday, which is a Friday in Australia on a Thursday in the U.S.
48:50So don't ever make me do that again. You want to hear something?
48:54My take coming out of that is that Kyle Shanahan's fucking back because that was exactly right.
48:59I know. I was going to say, is it weird that I totally see what he's saying?
49:04He nailed it. The fact that he just rattled that off extemporaneously was incredibly impressive.
49:08His concussion is fixed. And I'm betting the Niners.
49:11It's fixed. They fixed it. He fucking nailed that.
49:14Like, I can't believe he was like, it's technically Friday, but it's really Thursday.
49:18So for me, it's Tuesday, even though it's actually really Monday.
49:21But in reality, that's actually Sunday. I'm like, you're cooking right now, Kyle.
49:25You're right. Borderline the guy who's like noon to three.
49:28That's my second day. I'm kicking your ass. Oh, my God.
49:31He lives four days, three days every day, four days every day.
49:34That's my favorite video of all time. I'm kicking your butt.
49:37Noon to 6 a.m. That's day one. 6 a.m.
49:40To noon. That's day two. No, I actually now I think the 49ers are going to win.
49:45I do, too. I legitimately feel that way. And I actually am now.
49:49I've now flipped where I think what the Rams are doing is reckless.
49:53Yes. I never say. They used to smoke at halftime.
49:56They'll be fine. The jet lag is not that big of a deal.
49:59It's fine. It is amazing. It just comes back around.
50:02They'll fucking live. The other one we have to talk about is this college football, this Michigan Hail Mary situation, which has a great start.
50:10This season is. I was watching that shit live.
50:12Were you guys? No, I watched it after. I was not.
50:15I was not able to watch it live. And then I just kind of heard everything blow up on my phone.
50:21And then I watched the replay. I mean, it actually has to remain the worst call of the season was the first call of the season.
50:29And it's actually one of the worst calls of all time.
50:32I fully agree with you. And when they gave once, when they put one second back on the clock, I was with friends in Tahoe.
50:40And we were all like, Michigan, they're obviously going to complete this Hail Mary now.
50:44Like, this is just how this works. Yeah. And of course they did.
50:48What's funny is like. This is just how this works.
50:51So initially it was like, this is bullshit. They gave this to Michigan.
50:54They would have never done this if it were flipped.
50:57But then I believe the Big Ten and the Mac kind of like came together.
51:02And the Big Ten provide their reasoning for why this happened.
51:05And the Mac accepted it. And it was like, hey, if you actually look at it, when the Western Michigan defender touched
51:11the ball, he jumped from out of bounds, thus ending the play.
51:15And if you check the clock, the ref's clock or like, you know, the internal clock, there was one second left.
51:21And when I read that, I was like, all right.
51:24I mean, I guess that's just really unlucky for Western Michigan.
51:27And now there's been a pushback to that where Western Michigan is like, actually, you shouldn't be using an internal clock.
51:33You need to be. The rules say you need to use the game clock.
51:37And when you look at the game clock, it fucking expired.
51:41So give us the goddamn win. It's one of the worst application of the rules I've ever seen, both in the moment
51:47and then like it took them three days to even get to the ruling itself.
51:51Yeah. Because for those who don't know, I mean, everyone's probably seen it, but they were literally Michigan's losing by five, throws
51:58a Hail Mary with nine seconds left. Ball hits before the ball even gets to any of the players.
52:03It's at zero seconds on the clock. Michigan loses.
52:06They come back on the field. They're like review.
52:09They give them the ball back. Michigan, they decide there's like a tenth of a second left.
52:14Michigan hits the Hail Mary wins the game. But to your point, the refs come out.
52:18They're like, well, we had our own clock in the booth that no one's allowed to see.
52:23And that clock says there's a double secret probation clock.
52:26Our secret clock says there's two tenths of a second.
52:29And then they're like, and there's no way it's wrong because we synchronize them with strobe lights.
52:34So there's no way it's wrong. And then they just go through this.
52:38Why would the broadcast want to be wrong then?
52:40Because they were showing the clock that was on the field.
52:44They were wrong. Like the answer is the refs were wrong and they doubled down on it.
52:49Everyone was panicking and making mistakes because they cited it.
52:51It was like dodgeball. They're like rude to 1280 AD.
52:54And Mike Pereira. And every now and then you forget these guys are great at this.
52:59Mike Pereira comes out and just says it in English.
53:02And he's like, the rule is just the referees in the booth are supposed to go off the telecast.
53:08This whole, well, we have a fake clock. You don't use that in that situation.
53:12You go with the public. The whole point is supposed to build public trust.
53:16Why is there a second clock? Use the TV copy.
53:19What's the part of the second clock? Dude, he's like, don't be an idiot and use the secret super clock.
53:25Like literally he's like, use your brain. That's why you haven't been replaced by a robot yet.
53:30And so, but the thing that happened today is now they, the big 10 referee association is asking.
53:35Let me make sure it's the big 10, right?
53:38Put out a referee association, put out a statement.
53:40They want to overturn the result of the game, which I've never seen.
53:44And I don't know. It's not the big 10.
53:47It's the Mac. Oh, the Mac. Yes. Well, the Mac.
53:50So, oh yeah. No wonder they want to do it.
53:52Was it not the big 10 referees agreeing with it?
53:55Not the big 10 itself, to be clear. Well, I, the official statement was put out by the Mac saying, give us the goddamn win.
54:03Yeah. But I feel like they can't because it's like, that's opening up Pandora's box.
54:07I think the voters should honestly just treat it like Michigan lost the game for the entire season.
54:12Voters should ignore the Michigan win and treat Michigan like they lost.
54:16Like they dropped out of the poll. I think some people are.
54:19I mean. Even the Michigan fans I know were like, yeah, that was, that was, that was bad.
54:25They're like, luckily Michigan doesn't have any blemishes on their record in terms of fairness and following the rules and whatnot.
54:31There's nothing of that sort, sort of like casting a pall over this whole situation.
54:35Is there? It was one of the most. No, I don't think so.
54:39I think they're clean. Nothing, nothing to note. It was one of the most egregious screw jobs I've seen in a long time.
54:46The other thing we have to mention is that the.
54:48I love that Adam Schefter's out here fucking tweeting about it.
54:52God damn it. These Michigan men. Just give it a rest.
54:55Yeah, Schefter, the Michigan thing. So, so Michigan then stormed the field and the victory and stat hole.
55:00Shout out stat hole in sports reference who actually put out this.
55:04I can't believe they had this. It was the worst storm field, storming of the field ever by point spread.
55:09Michigan was a four touchdown favorite. Saddest. It's storming of the field.
55:13The literal biggest favorite ever on record to storm the field after a win.
55:17The most pathetic storming of a field. Who basically wanted like a technicality.
55:21It's all the Michigan lawyers running on the field.
55:24Did you guys see the initial statement from the Big Ten that was explaining why they overturned it?
55:29It's like the weirdest choice in font and back.
55:31It was like a black background with blue words over the top.
55:35This guy, Clue Hayward, was like making fun of it.
55:38He's like, what layout and font should we use for this controversial ending statement?
55:42This looks like the opening credits of the movie Halloween from the 70s.
55:46Dude, 100% it's like from Stranger Things or something.
55:48This font is on the Mount Rush. It's with Dan Gilbert's Comic Sans letter after LeBron left and the papyrus from Avatar.
55:55And then this letter. Why are you using the papyrus from Avatar?
55:58It's like unbelievable. It's the least serious thing I've ever seen.
56:01Just fucking use white background black writing in normal font.

56:55You want to be Fantasy Court, then purges? Oh, yeah.
56:58Fantasy Court. We're bringing Fantasy Court back. I can't wait.
57:01Fantasy Court's back. Do we have an intro for Fantasy Court?
57:04We're going to update it for the season, but right now we'll do the old one for old time's sake.
57:10Definitely don't tell anyone about this thing that you're doing.
57:13I don't really want to be handcuffed. The definition of an object is a material thing that can be seen and touched.
57:19Can you touch a cloud? It will never not be funny that we're reading the dictionary definition of an object.
57:25We have to add when Craig said, to me, night is when it's dark.
57:29Night, to me, is when it's dark. Night is when it's dark.
57:32Okay. This is a Fantasy Court from, well, this one's from Redacted.
57:36Redacted, of course. Yeah. Keep your anonymity. 23 years old, breakfast all over the place, but this morning was two Costco egg
57:42bites, two banana pudding Oreos, yogurt-covered raisins, a Liberty and Justice for Apple Rain, which is the goat energy drink.
57:48I don't know what that is. What? I feel like I just got hit with a fire hose.
57:53A Liberty and Justice. What was it? Apple Rain.
57:56Rain is with an eat like a king. Apple Rain.
57:59Liberty and Justice for, I don't know what that is.
58:02A Rain is a drink. Rain is an energy drink.
58:05So it's a Liberty and Justice. I don't know, man.
58:08I don't know what this energy, Liberty and Justice for Apple.
58:11I don't know any of these words. That's an energy drink.
58:14It's a, yeah. The Rain, I do, I do know that Rain is an energy drink.
58:19Liberty and Justice for Apple is a limited edition tart green apple flavored energy drink featuring 300 milligrams of caffeine and zero sugar.
58:26We should do an energy drink taste test this year.
58:28So that's basically fucking liquid nitrogen that you're just guzzling down.
58:32It's insane. So Redacted writes, 30 seconds before the draft, one of our league members texts the group chat and says, hey,
58:38send the invite because I can't get into the draft because my account is on my other email and I have a new one.
58:45And then everyone just makes fun of him and flames him in the group chat.
58:50And the commissioner's like, well, he's the commissioner. He's like, well, the draft started, so I can't do anything.
58:55And so the auto draft, he just auto drafts.
58:58And then he looks at his team. He's like, yeah, fuck this.
59:01And wants his money back. Oh, and everyone votes and it's like, obviously not.
59:05Sorry, you're an idiot. And so he sees that and it's like, all right, well, screw you guys.
59:11I don't want to be in the league anyway.
59:13Keep the money. I don't care. And like leaves the chat.
59:16I don't want to play. It's like, okay. So the commissioner is like that.
59:20Yeah, soft. So the commissioner is like, well, my wife has been wanting to play fantasy.
59:25So she my wife is like, do you want to take over the team?
59:29And she's like, yeah. And she's really excited. And everyone kind of agrees that if she wins, people get their money back because she didn't pay anything.
59:37She's kind of paying on that guy's buy in, which they all agreed to.
59:41And I'm like, I get it. That's fine. Because she didn't pay any money.
59:45So the catch is the guy texts the next day and is like, hey, I want to come back in.
59:51Screw it. I was being a little bitch. I want to come back in.
59:55And he says, what do I do? Oh, you say no.
59:58Easy. That's what I thought. Anyone who fucking threatens to leave the league and then does leave is like, all right, we're better off.
60:05Bitch move. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, the fact that he didn't prepare until like the 10 minutes before the draft and the
60:12first, that's like, that's like strike one threatening to leave strike two, leaving strike three, trying to get back in strike four like this.
60:19You're just better off without it. I think screw this guy.
60:22But I would send him his money back though.
60:25Yeah. Give him the money back. Don't let him hold anything over you.
60:28I agree. I would just send him the money back.
60:31And then maybe your wife pays half price or something, but I would.
60:35Yeah. Yeah. Email us at ringer fantasy football. Is he like in the group?
60:39Is this like a beloved friend in the group?
60:42He left. I know. I guess I'm just like, I'm trying to, I'm trying to be a little bit more diplomatic here.
60:48If this is like a beloved friend and he was having a bad season's Wednesday.
60:53And on Monday, he's like, I don't want to be in the league.
60:56And I quit. Like you have to replace him.
60:59Also, this guy, like told your wife's in the league.
61:02Like, come on. No. DK, if it was one of your close friends who did this and was like, Hey DK, I'm sorry.
61:09Can I come back in? I was being a dick at a bad day.
61:13Are you like, fuck off? I'll never talk to you again.
61:16Or are you like, all right. I would probably be much more diplomatic about it and say, sorry.
61:21It's too late now. We already filled the position.
61:24I don't want, I don't feel comfortable kicking this other person out.
61:27Per your earlier note, we can go drinking later.
61:30So I think I would say you can, you can be back in next year.
61:34Sure. Yeah. I think that's fair. Yeah. If you're really, you're on time.
61:38It depends on the person. It depends on the person.
61:41Of course. Yeah. If there's a history of this, then I would probably just be like, eh, we're better off without you.
61:47He's not allowed back in. Give him his money back.
61:50Maybe he's back next year. I think that's the answer.
61:53Yeah. Email us at ringer fantasy football gmail.com and email us your fantasy courts.
61:57We will litigate. Remember last year or two years ago, someone dropped Marvin Harrison when they were drunk and we were like, yeah.
62:04And then, you know what? Turned out to be a great move.
62:08You never know what happens. So email us that.
62:10Accidentally drafting Brian Robinson and not Bijan Robinson. That happened.
62:13Someone texted me. Shout out to Max. He texted me.
62:16Some genius in a Yahoo. Those auction, those salary cap drafts nominated B.
62:20Robinson and Falcons went for 60 bucks. Dude, if you look at it.
62:24I did an auction draft on Yahoo a couple of days ago.
62:27And Brian Robinson's average price is like $19 because people fuck it up too much.
62:32Oh, that makes sense. What would you do in that situation?
62:35It's one of those, hey, sorry, you got to click on the thing.
62:39But that's kind of a formatting error. Like if someone immediately starts in third season, spends 70 bucks and beat out Robinson and they're like, screw it.
62:46Like it's a good bit. You probably have to keep it.
62:50But it is bullshit. No, I would give them their money back.
62:53Would you do that, DK? Yeah. I like the fact that you're not like holding anything above them or whatever.
62:59Full transparency. I just made a trade with Joe Phan in our Traders Alley Dynasty League.
63:04And he was trying to trade for T. Etn on my team and was offering a lot for him.
63:09And I had to let him know that it was Etn's brother, Trevor, that he was inquiring about.
63:14You could have done it. I know. It's like, that's bad faith.
63:18That's bad karma. Yeah. Totally. There was this catcher on the Mets when we were in eighth grade named Jose A.
63:24Reyes. And it said Jose A. Reyes on the Mets.
63:27And Jose Reyes had like won the MVP. And this guy was in AA.
63:31And I flipped him for Chase Utley, who then won the MVP.
63:35Oh, Jesus Christ. Yeah. Well, it's just a window into both of yours.
63:38I was 12. So you've been rotten since the start.
63:41Exactly. People don't change. People don't forget. All right.
63:44You want to do a listener take Purge? Yeah.
63:47This is one of the favorite developments we've had all year is that we have the Discord channel.
63:52People throw in their purges. I've been amazed by the quality of them, to be honest.
63:56And I'm so excited. It turns out that the Purge should expand.
64:00Everyone needs to Purge. Get these thoughts off. I've had low expectations for all of you.
64:05It's becoming... No, I just... Much like the movie, it's becoming a franchise.
64:08No, they were amazing. Dude, one of the Purge...
64:11One of the listener purges from the draft was that the 2024 draft class, none of them will ever be as good as they were.
64:18Their rookie year, Jaden Daniels, Brian Thomas, Brock Bowers, Malik Neighbors, all these guys peaked.
64:23And I'm like, that's an amazing take. That's a good Purge.
64:26I hope that's not right. Like, it's just good.
64:29Like, it's... The take purges are good. So I want to go through some of these.
64:33And some of these I'm truly jealous of. Some I want to disavow.
64:37But so we're not going to quite do the sirens and the music, but like, that's the vibe.
64:42Like, you know, these are things people are trying to get off their chest.
64:46Mm-hmm. This one is from Eckstein. With a CK, Eckstein.
64:49Okay. E? Ebone? Eckstein. Yes. B. John Robinson is going to be a huge bust this year, and Atlanta is going to go down in flames.
64:57The Falcons will be worse than the Cardinals. You know...
65:00Craig believes this already. It's a good take. I'm actually...
65:03I'm already jealous that none of us... I feel like we talked so much shit about the quarterback situation in Atlanta.
65:09We're so nervous about Tua. I didn't mention. None of us had the stones to be like, maybe B.
65:14John shouldn't be the second pick in the draft.
65:17Damn. My brother was trying to talk to me about this over Labor Day weekend.
65:21He's like, so you think the Falcons are going to be terrible, and you think Tua is going to be bad, and
65:28Penix is like as big of a risk to get hurt as anybody.
65:32I was like, yeah. So why do you guys have B.
65:35John at number two? And I was like, well, because he's really good.
65:39He's like, isn't that stupid? And I'm like... Quite possibly.
65:42And he's like, who do you want me to take it to?
65:45I'm like, B. John. He's like, but that doesn't make sense.
65:48And I was like, take Jamar Chase then. He's like, I don't want to take a receiver.
65:53I want to take a running back. The beauty of doing the take purge at this point in the season is when
66:00you think about it and you try to put yourself in your shoes, whatever, four or five months from now, and thinking
66:06about what went wrong in the season, this makes so much sense to me.
66:10Yeah, it does. I'm like, oh, obviously the Falcons' offense is going to be a disaster.
66:15Why do we have B. John second? We literally have, as a tattoo, take into account overall environment.
66:20And it's why we had Gibbs as number one, but it's weird to be like...
66:24Something there. Maybe. Good one. I'm still taking B.
66:27John second though, probably. This one I'm jealous of.
66:30Gene's take purge is that the Browns are starting to Sean Watson to begin the season with the hopes that he gets
66:36injured so that the insurance will cover his salary.
66:39Oh, God. They're literally throwing him to the wolves.
66:41I mean... It's good. There's something there. It's Bounty Gate, but like reverse.
66:45Yeah. It's on their own guy. How can we hurt our own guy?
66:49For those who don't know, if you take out an insurance policy on a player and they get injured, every game they
66:55miss the injury, you get a cap credit the next year, which is how the Browns have survived this thing.
67:01Their Jets did that, or the Jets, I think, did it with Rodgers.
67:05This is a good theory. Heifetz, is this like, you know your take about the Chiefs and Mahomes and...
67:11Is it Josh Simmons? Who is it? Yeah, Josh Simmons tossing the defensive end.
67:15Yeah, Josh Simmons does the wrong thing. This is like how they were practicing all preseason.
67:19It's like... Just chuck your guy into the quarterback's legs.
67:22Schefter tweets, it's like, the Browns have traded for Josh Simmons.
67:25God. That's a great take. From Gene. Gene! Gene!
67:28Gene! Gene! Parmesan. Gene! This one's from Allison. Allison.
67:31A-Bone. Many of the NFL players who get in trouble for speeding come from Texas.
67:35Especially Dallas. Because in Dallas, our driving etiquette is to treat the highway speed limit as the minimum.
67:40Huh? They're just built different in Dallas. You know how in Landman everyone's driving really fast?
67:45In Texas, it's like culturally, 75 is like, don't go below 75 on the highways.
67:49This is how I felt when I went to Florida.
67:52Yes. People in Florida are insane. Allison is saying, Miles Garrett, who has the nine tickets.
67:57It's Rasheed Rice. All these people learn to drive in Texas, and then they move to other places, and then it doesn't feel well.
68:04Drive in Texas for one day, and you're like, oh my God.
68:07This place is terrifying. I gotta go. I was unaware of this.
68:11This is a good take. It's a good take.
68:14I went down a deep dive, and I'm like, most of the people with speeding issues are Texas or obviously Georgia.
68:20So in Dallas, they're just like, yeah, speed limit.
68:22Don't really worry about that. It's a guideline. You don't have to worry about it.
68:27Don't go below it. What's the Pirates of the Caribbean line about the rules?
68:31It's like, what is it? The Pirates Code's more like guidelines.
68:34Allison said that there have been times she's been going 20 over and been passed like she was going 20 under.
68:40People just ripping it around her. Wow. So, all right.
68:43This take purchase from, I don't know how to say this, Daffin's Rock.
68:47I don't know. Demone. They're Discord usernames. Daffin's Rock says, fantasy football was more fun 15 years ago when the majority of
68:53people were just taking their favorite players instead of treating it like the stock market and doing all this analysis.
68:59Back in the day, if you just showed up talking about maximizing value and taking calculated risks, you'd be shoved in a locker.
69:06Or talking about your portfolio. Yeah. This is essentially private equity ruined fantasy football.
69:10It's like how private equity just ruined everything. It's like now the Lakers are an asset to flip.
69:15And like a movie studio is like a balance sheet now than taking creative risks.
69:19Yeah, this is a good take. There is a pretty strong, whatever the middle circle in a Venn diagram is of like Bitcoin bros and fantasy players.
69:27There's a lot of overlap there, I feel like.
69:30Yeah, I know. I mean, people literally talk about fantasy players.
69:33They'll say like, I have a lot of shares of DJ Moore.
69:37Totally. I kind of like this take. It's a great take.
69:40Michael Lewis should write a book about it. I have some non-football take purchase here I want to hear.
69:45I want to hear the light of day. Yeah, yeah.
69:48I like these. Okay. A-C-Z says citronella candles attract more mosquitoes, which gets you to buy more candles.
69:54It's like a pyramid scheme. Dude. Yeah, I would love it.
69:57Email us if you actually know how to prevent mosquitoes from nipping at your heels because I can't do it.
70:03Brandon says Christopher Nolan is lying about not having a smartphone.
70:06Oh, that's good. It's just performative. It's like Tarantino, same way.
70:09Yeah, it's just performative. It's cool to not have one, you know?
70:13I'm unreachable. But if I call you, answer. Christopher Nolan just had pay phones all over the city.
70:18I still have them. He's got a pocket full of quarters.
70:21Lewis says that Craig is not the hottest person on the pod and I'm tired of pretending he is.
70:27Whoa. This is just, this is trying to strike a wedge between the three of us.
70:31We've already established the hierarchy here. And we can't, we can't unseat the balance.
70:35I want to know who the answer is. I want to see you two battle over the throne.
70:41There could be only one. I saw Highlander. It was shit.
70:44DK comes back on the next episode with giant veneers.
70:47We're getting, we're getting hair plugs and veneers. Start the GoFundMe.
70:50DK is going to record the season from Turkey.
70:53Turkey. That was the only thing he'd answer. It was if we send him to Turkey.
70:57He's like, yeah, I'd go. He's like, duh. Okay.
71:00Thank you to everyone who did the take purge.
71:02Thank you for emailing us your purges. Email us at rainyourfantasyfootball.gmail.com.
71:06Email us your fantasy courts. Email. We want fantasy court cases.
71:09We want, what are the other things we want?
71:12Tell me how to prevent mosquitoes. How to prevent mosquitoes and trivia questions.
71:15We want trivia questions on Monday. Waivers. We do trivias.
71:18We do trivias to kind of do the tiebreaker.
71:21The trivia questions have to have like a, like a numerical answer.
71:24Closest to the pin style. Yes. So just that way for wrong, we can be wrong by an amount.
71:30So at least an amount has to be. If we're wrong.
71:33Come on. If we're wrong. We won't be. We're right.
71:36Yeah. Thank you, DK. Thank you, Craig. Thank you, Nikhil.
71:39Thank you to Cam. Thank you to Austin. And thank you to everyone for listening.
71:43Thank you to everyone who emailed you take purges.
71:46Thank you to the seven for doing the hot quarterback rankings.
71:49Fantasyfootball.theraer.com. We will have our rankings this week. So if you want to do start to sit rankings, we'll have that for you for the weekend.
71:57And thank you to everyone who's listened to us for the whole off season and preseason and the season's here.
72:03So now we're going to actually talk about football games that happened.
72:06So most of all, though, thank you, Lord. Lord.
72:0980s month. Continued. Continues. You have one, DK? I got one if you want.
72:13Yeah. Yeah. Hit me. Hit me. One of my favorites.
72:16It is a real classic Motley Crue home sweet home.
72:19Oh. I'm on my way. Oh, banger. I'm on my way.
72:22Home sweet home. Home sweet home. I love a good.
72:25I love the 80s, man. They just like the ballad.
72:28The true ballad is just like so glorious. Feels like I'm going on a real journey every time I hear this song.
72:34Yeah. It reminds me also of Hot Tub Time Machine.
72:37Oh, sure. So just a great song. No offense.
72:40I didn't really know what song you were talking about when you guys were singing, but I pulled it up.
72:45And now now. Yes. You really got to hit some some high bars to be able to sing that.
72:51Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So this video is also just one of the most 80s things I've ever seen.
72:56It looks exactly like I thought it would look Motley Crue.
72:59First of all, great name. Sure. With the two little umlauts over the O and the U.
73:04Yeah. Why is that? I don't know. Not sure.
73:07I feel like they were. I feel like that was.
73:10I was. Oh, when I did that. Hell, Ricky.
73:13I don't know. They just woke up and someone included it.
73:16They're like, sure. Yeah. Um. Do you think they would have had the same career without the umlauts, without the little dots?
73:22No. I feel like that made them stand out.
73:25I think they wouldn't have. Should we do that on our show?
73:28Ringer Fantasy? Maybe. Just have the dots? Did Motley Crue have Nikki Sixx?
73:32Yeah. Bassist Nikki Sixx. Tommy Lee was. Of course.
73:35Yeah. The drummer. He married Pamela Anderson. I know him from that.
73:38Yeah. I'm now learning he's from this. I think if I had to bet which band did the most drugs, Motley Crue
73:45would be among my top five picks. Yeah. Yeah.
73:47Yeah. They're up there. What do I not know about Nikki Sixx?
73:51Tommy Lee was married to freaking Heather Locklear too?
73:53Man. He's like Billy Bob Thornton. This guy. Uh.
73:56Nikki Sixx. Nikki Sixx. I almost said Nikki Dix.
73:59Nikki Sixx was addicted to heroin. Oh. That's true.
74:01Can I ask you a question? Where did the term Motley Crue come from?
74:05Was that before? Was like a group of mangy kids of Motley Crue before Motley Crue became a band?
74:11I imagine. Or now are they Motley Crue when you see like some kids?
74:15No, I think it's like it's five o'clock somewhere.
74:18It was a saying that then like Jimmy Buffett was like, I'm going to build a song around it.
74:23Make it. I think Motley Crue existed as a phrase, right?
74:26I don't know. You know how you and Jackie have that like list of phrases that people only use for one specific thing?
74:33Oh, yeah. No one. I feel like Motley is only used with Crue.
74:37I've never heard Motley used outside of Motley Crue.
74:40Also, I'm seeing Motley Crue is very old from the 17th and 18th centuries.
74:44Maybe Motley Bunch, but Motley is mostly with Crue.
74:46And just for people who've known him when I talk about, there are certain words that just immediately it's only for phrase.
74:53My favorite one being spangled. The banner. Star Spangled Banner.
74:56What does that even mean? Spangled. Spangled. What does that word even mean?
74:59I mean, yeah. Splashed. Decorated or sprinkled with small shiny objects or lights.
75:03Brought you some cupcakes. They're spangled. Look at me like I was crazy.
75:07There are certain words where I'm like, we don't need a word for that.
75:11We don't need a word for decorate with small shiny lights.
75:14I don't know. I feel the same way about- Too many words, says Craig.
75:18Well, you know what word I think truly does not need to exist, and I don't know why it does, and I've always felt this way.
75:26This is so random. It's defenestrate, which means to throw someone out of a window.
75:30Why is that a word? I don't know. Why aren't there words for- Quicker than saying to throw someone out a window.
75:37Okay, but why aren't there words for throw someone off a roof?
75:40Why isn't there a word for that? There might be.
75:43I don't think so. There's a German word for it.
75:46No, it's your call. Because it's like, there's this thing like the defenestration of Prague.
75:50And they're like, oh, what'd they do? They burn the city down?
75:54They're like, no, they just threw this guy out a window.
75:57I'm like, well, just say that then. Why is there a word for that?
76:01Just say that. That's a complicated word. It throws somebody out of a window.
76:05That's why we like the old German words, because they're just smashing together.
76:09Like when you're sad and when you eat, the word's just grief bacon.
76:13Just do that. Anyway, that's my beef with defenestrate.
76:16Craig, there is no official standard English word for throwing someone off a roof, though some people use a word called detectumation.
76:22I'm just like, throwing people out of windows isn't common enough to justify a word for it.
76:27There's so many other actions that I feel like are just as common, if not more common.
76:32Can I? I want to ask you an important question, DK.
76:35Okay. The Tommy Lee thing, the Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson thing.
76:38I feel like I heard a lot about this as a kid, but just hearing about, but I didn't know the main text.
76:45I just, everything I learned about the Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson sex tape was just like jokes.
76:50I'm like, whose line is it anyway? And like jokes from like Jay Leno.
76:54But were you like, were you like a kid trying to find this in the woods?
76:59Are you asking me if I've seen it? All right.
77:02Can you ask me a direct question? All right.
77:04I'll ask. I'll just ask it. DK. Yes. Who's going to win the Super Bowl?
