0:59Everyday training camp creeps closer and closer and closer, which means the season is right around the corner.
1:05There's been enough news and enough notes over the last couple of weeks that me and the guys, Jacob Sanderson, Ryan Heath,
1:12have decided it's time to continue re-ranking every position.
1:15This week, it's running backs. We are going to absolutely dive a little bit deeper into running backs for you guys, so I'm excited.
1:23These guys are excited. I'm excited. I'm excited. I'm excited.
1:27I'm excited. I'm excited. I'm excited. I'm excited. I'm excited.
1:30Hello, everybody. Welcome back to our small corner of the Dynasty fantasy football internet landscape.
1:35Thanks for joining us once again. If you're new here, welcome in.
1:39Take a seat. Join us as we dive into what I'm sure is going to be somewhat controversial to someone somewhere.
1:46Someone's favorite running back isn't making the list. Another person's favorite running back is lower than they feel it should be.
1:53Definitely a few players are going to be too high.
1:56I'm excited to dive into it. This is always a good exercise for us.
2:01The way we do things is we each gave out our rankings.
2:05Jacob has compiled an overall set of rankings based on that with tiers.
2:09We have them all here, so I'm excited to dive in.
2:12I'll kick it to Jacob. Jacob, you can read off these first few player names as we dive in.
2:19Yeah, so if you caught our last episode, our live on quarterbacks, it's the exact same system.
2:24Everybody provided ranks. They provided tier breaks. I had a scoring setting to average out the rankings with a little penalty for
2:32tier breaking and put together the consensus tier list.
2:35So our top tier, I think is pretty uneventful.
2:37We had it all the exact same way. I think probably most people have it the same way, which was Jameer Gibbs, RB1, B.
2:45John Robinson as RB2 and a tier break after those two.
2:49We all had it exactly in that order. I think probably where you'll see the most disagreement is you'll see some people might prefer B.
2:57John at RB1. I think everyone agrees. These are far and away the top two running backs in dynasty and very easy round one startup picks.
3:06Yeah, there's not much to really add here. I guess on the B.
3:10John versus Gibbs debate, my contribution would just be I'm more comfortable with Gibbs's offensive environment in the short term and especially
3:17in the long term being attached to Jared Goff to Dan Campbell.
3:21Like this is just a functional team year in and year out, and that's just something we're not going to have to worry about at all.
3:30Whereas with B. John, there's like at least a little bit of risk that the Falcons bottom out in any given season.
3:37They don't really have quarterback figured out at the moment.
3:40Like I think there's a few more ways that B.
3:44John's outlook could kind of turn for the worse.
3:47I don't think this is at all likely. I think they're my 101 and 102 far and away in redraft as well.
3:54But that's probably just like the slight edge to Gibbs there that's separating them for me.
3:59I agree with Ryan on that. That's what gets me on Gibbs ever so slightly ahead of B.
4:05John. I think if you wanted to make the case the opposite direction, probably what you'd point to is just B.
4:12John still is a little bit more of that prototypical workhorse build.
4:16And so if you try to fast forward two, three, four years down the line, maybe these guys are no longer quite
4:23as scintillating of talents as they are right now.
4:26Maybe B. John's the easier one to bet on just in terms of kid.
4:31He still maintain 300 plus touches a season over the long haul, even if they're no longer the most efficient back in the league.
4:39That's kind of playing devil's advocate because no one had it ranked that way.
4:43I ultimately agree with Ryan and with Tom that Gibbs is the number one.
4:48Yeah, I think if the quarterback situation were at all different, I think there would be probably a little bit more for the one and two.
4:57But again, we don't need to put a lot of time into one and two.
5:01You have one of these two guys. You're you're living the good life.
5:06Let's just say that. Jacob, what do we have for the next set of tears?
5:11Yeah. So the next set of tears, that's where we finally start to see a little bit of disagreement.
5:17It ends up being a three back tier. So Ashton Gentie and Jeremiah Love actually tied.
5:22I'll tie break to Gentie because two of the three of us had Gentie ranked higher, but Gentie and Love wound up at the same cumulative score.
5:31And then a Marion Hampton got in this tier as well.
5:35All note, I had it. Gentie, Love, no one else at the tier.
5:39Ryan and Tom both had this as a three person tier.
5:43Ryan going Gentie, then Love, then Hampton. Tom went Love and then Hampton ahead of Gentie.
5:48So I want to hear that take from you.
5:51Yeah, there's I think for offensive environments, I think Hampton is just a little bit better.
5:56We know that Kubiak is a good coordinator. He can call a great offense, but that offensive line is still kind of a mess.
6:04There's still a lot of question marks, in my opinion, for a quarterback and how they're going to play.
6:10So we've also seen enough of Gentie fully healthy and his impact.
6:14He's had some really big games, but for running backs environment really matters to me.
6:19And it still doesn't feel like the Raiders are going to be that upper tier environment.
6:24Love, we haven't seen play yet. So it's a little bit of a, you know, he could be this, he could be elite, etc.
6:32But I for me, Hampton getting into this tier was 100% about the environment.
6:37I think he smashes. I'm not as big into the maybe they'll come after me for this.
6:43I'm not as big into the Keaton Mitchell hive and I'm definitely not a Vidal guy.
6:48So I think that Hampton can catch five, five passes a game, four passes a game, getting most, if not all of
6:55the goal line work in this run heavy system, which we're going to have.
7:00Because Harbaugh is still the head coach with an offensive line that is healthier.
7:04We're really starting to see Hampton really take off.
7:07I think he belongs in this tier. I think even if you have doubts about his talent, let's say, or his lateral
7:15ability, I just think the offensive environment makes it not matter.
7:18And if he goes out there and puts up an absolute smash season, 1400 total yards and 12 touchdowns, I think it's
7:25going to be impossible to take him out of this tier to me.
7:30I just feel like I need to see it.
7:33I mean, it could be as easy as like after week one, I move him right up into this tier if he
7:40comes out and has the role that you probably expect him to have.
7:44And it wouldn't surprise me. I just want to see it over a sustained period of time.
7:50His rookie year was so disjointed. He starts pretty poorly.
7:53Then he feels like he's really hitting his stride.
7:56Then he gets this big injury, comes back and doesn't do a whole lot after.
8:01But I think that was pretty clearly injury related.
8:04I just want to see what is the actual usage?
8:07Is he the lead of a three back committee or is he the workhorse back?
8:12Can he ease some of my nitpicks in his prospect profile or not?
8:16Is he getting all the high value touches at least within this committee?
8:21And I think it's an incredible offensive environment. So the ceiling really, really, really high.
8:26I don't fully trust the player just yet. He still does work out to be my RB5 just behind these guys.
8:33But I think he'll be one of the most interesting players to watch in the first couple of weeks of how they
8:40ultimately use him in this fun, exciting Mike McDaniel offense.
8:43Yeah, I think I come in kind of in between your guys' two positions.
8:48I agree with Tom just in terms of the offensive environment.
8:51Graham Barfield on the main channel the other day made what was a pretty convincing argument to me that maybe Hampton has
8:59a higher overall ceiling, at least this year than Jenty, if we're just going out to the theoretical best case scenario with the offenses that they're in.
9:08But I will like concede a little bit to Jacob that I think there is like a 20 percent chance that the season opens.
9:15We get through week two, week three, and we're not super happy with Hampton's role.
9:20I think more than likely he's getting most of the pass catching stuff, all of the goal line stuff.
9:27I think it's like a very minor concern to me that just kind of keeps him behind a Jenty, behind a love
9:34who are also two more just unquestioned kind of talents in the dynasty community.
9:39And I think that matters a little bit as well, just in terms of value insulation and upside.
9:44Like Jeremiah Love could come out and not be all that amazing for fantasy this year.
9:50He could be getting constantly like taken over at the goal line by Tyler Algier.
9:55Maybe his efficiency metrics won't be as amazing, kind of like Ashton Jenty's were without context last year.
10:01Right. I think Love can have that and still be a consensus top five dynasty running back next offseason.
10:07That's not the case with Hampton. So, yeah, a little bit to Jacob's point, like that's why Hampton's at the back of
10:14the tier for me, just because he has the most to lose in the eyes of dynasty managers.
10:20And I think that the perspective of, well, maybe he's not really on these guys levels as talents could could just win out with that evidence.
10:29Again, I think it's like a 20 percent chance, but it's enough for him to be behind the other two for me, despite the awesome offensive environment.
10:37Perfect. So that's the next year. That's our top five.
10:41So it rounds out to be Gibbs, Robinson, Jenty, Love, Hampton.
10:44Who's next? All right. So that is our top five.
10:48Like you said, bit of a break. We get into now number six.
10:52Number six is Devon Achan. We had him, I think, all ranked exactly at six.
10:57That's followed up by Jonathan Taylor, who we similarly all had at number seven.
11:02James Cook, who we all had at eight. And Ken Walker, who we all had at nine.
11:07So I didn't even realize that, but it's a four player tier of players that we all ranked in the exact same order.
11:15The only difference is I had a tier break between Achan and Taylor before we got to Cook and Walker.
11:21But obviously, we're pretty on the same page with this tier.
11:25I don't know how much we want to discuss it, given that there's such a consensus.
11:30But maybe why is there such a consensus among us with this tier?
11:34I will say that I think us talking a lot about Achan and being in or not in definitely more resembled just about this year specifically.
11:43I still think he is an amazing talent. And I have heard Scott talk a lot about a potential Christian McCaffrey in Carolina type scenario this year.
11:52I don't know if I can get there. But if he's 80% of what he's been over the first couple years of
11:59his career, he absolutely belongs to be in this spot with an infinite range of outcomes if they get any competent quarterback play.
12:07I think they did a lot of work on their offensive line.
12:11I know Brett Whitefield has talked a lot about that on first read with Joe Marino.
12:16I think he absolutely belongs here. Almost tier of his own to me.
12:20I don't know. Taylor was on pace to just absolutely smash.
12:24He seems to do that every couple of years.
12:27So, yeah, I definitely just wanted to note that the fading of Achan was definitely more about just startup costs for this year.
12:34I think he's an absolutely electric player. Obviously, he's our consensus ranked number six.
12:39He's probably been the player that we all have probably talked negatively the most in this tier.
12:45So I just wanted to highlight we're not out, as you can tell by our ranking.
12:50It's just a little caution for this year. Well, and I wanted to note that the market has come with us to some extent.
12:58You know, I think that early in the offseason was really when we were kind of talking about being out on Achan
13:05relative to some of these other prices. His price has come down early in the offseason.
13:10He was ranked ahead of Ashton Jenty in ADP or on Keep Trade Cut at times.
13:16That's clearly no longer the case. He's now even moved behind Hampton in ADP of startups right now.
13:22So we have him at the RB6. That is the consensus ranking right now.
13:26The only guy in this tier that we have above ADP, because Achan, Taylor, Cook are all right now going at 6, 7, 8 respectively, is Ken Walker.
13:35We have him all up at 9. He's currently going at RB11.
13:39And that's a guy that I'm just getting continually more and more excited about.
13:44Ben Gretch and I had a great conversation about the Chiefs offense on the long view, and I was a little lower on the offense as a whole.
13:53And, you know, a lot of his points were looking at, like, pretty objective metrics, like their Vegas point expectation and kind
14:00of how can I pair this, all of my issues with their passing game to can they even be an above average offense this year?
14:09I think the key to how they could be an above average offense this year has to be running more and more through Ken Walker.
14:17I just don't think that their pass catchers are viable to be a high volume passing attack that's successful in the 2026 NFL.
14:24But I think that they can lean on Walker a lot to get more explosive plays to open things up for them.
14:32I think they can throw to him a lot more than they've been able to do with the less dynamic running backs
14:39that they've had on this team for years now.
14:42I mean, when is the last time that the Kansas City Chiefs have had a truly difference-making running back?
14:48You probably have to go back to the first run of Kareem Hunt, which ended, like, God knows how, unless you want to count my goat, Damian Williams.
14:57So, I think, like, you know, outside of, like...
15:00I mean, league winner, Jarek McKinnon? I mean, let's not disrespect him.
15:04Outside of the Lynn Sanity runs of Damian Williams and Jarek McKinnon for about a month each, I think you're probably going
15:12back to, like, Kareem Hunt, really, to when they had a true difference-maker.
15:16And I'm not talking about last year, Kareem Hunt.
15:19So, I think it's a potential... I think it's potentially underrated, like, just how much of a shift this is going to be to their offense.
15:27I think that, in this case, running backs do, in fact, really matter.
15:32And I think he's going to make a pretty massive impact as the focal point of this offensive attack.
15:38I've gone kind of up and down on Walker throughout the offseason.
15:42It's taken me a while to figure out exactly where I am on him.
15:47I think I've ended up at generally pretty positive.
15:49Even if you don't want to make an assumption that the Chiefs are going to become more run-heavy, this has at least
15:57been a very valuable offense for running backs at the goal line, specifically.
16:01In 2024, there was a stretch that Pacheco missed from, like, week 4 through week 12.
16:06And Kareem Hunt averaged 17.5 expected fantasy points per game.
16:10So, easily an RB1-level workload. And he led the NFL and carries inside the 5-yard line over that span.
16:16And we have seen, like, similar kind of outcomes if you want to aggregate together just the volume, especially in the red
16:23zone, that Hunt and Pacheco and this amalgamation of completely washed and sub-mediocre running backs that have gone through Kansas City have had.
16:31I just think there is, like, a really big opportunity here for Walker to smash in a big way.
16:37I am still torturing myself on whether I'm ranking him or Derrick Henry higher in redraft.
16:42They're, like, neck and neck for me. And I'm pretty positive on both of them.
16:47So, yeah, in Dynasty, for me, it comes down to Walker is, like, the last guy that has a, like, multi-year contract
16:54that just kind of gives you that stability as well.
16:58I think it's, like, an underrated angle. Basically, everyone else we're going to talk about is either in a multi-year contract on
17:05a bad team, is old and could fall off at any moment, or doesn't have, like, that stability.
17:11So I think Walker, kind of interestingly, is just one of the last guys that you can say that about, just even
17:18from, like, a floor perspective in Dynasty year-to-year. I think that's a completely fair outlook.
17:23It's probably, justifiably, the end of this tier. Jacob, who's next up?
17:27Yeah, so after that is when we really start diverging from each other.
17:31We're pretty much in lockstep for those first nine backs.
17:35But you put it all together into the formula, and what shakes out is Chase Brown at the 10 slot.
17:41That's Ryan's RB10. That's Tom's RB11. It's my RB12.
17:44Judkins then comes in at 11. That's Tom's 10.
17:47Ryan had him at 11. I have him at 13.
17:50And then Christian McCaffrey is the last number of this tier.
17:54That's my RB10. It is Tom and Ryan's RB12.
17:57And we have some various tier gaps. But that's a three-back tier here in this middle section, with one very young back,
18:04one very old back, and one right in the middle.
18:08I guess as the high man on Chase Brown, I'll kind of make my case first.
18:13With Chase Brown, I feel like I'm a year ahead of the Kyron Williams phenomenon.
18:18And what I mean by that is there were a couple-year period in Dynasty where Kyron Williams, I think people fairly recognized,
18:25maybe this isn't the most talented running back in the league.
18:29He just has one of the best roles on one of the best offenses.
18:33This could kind of fall away at any moment, right?
18:37The floor could come out here. Another running back could be introduced to the backfield.
18:41He could lose the work at some point, right?
18:44And you got like a pretty big discount on Kyron Williams in Dynasty relative to his age and his fantasy points per
18:52game for years because of that fear that people had.
18:55To me, Chase Brown is much the same. I think he's a better back than Kyron Williams.
19:01That is one main difference. I think he's a much better, certainly as a receiver than Kyron Williams.
19:07So that just leaves his fantasy scoring in like a more stable place in general, which is a nice kind of bonus.
19:14And I think there's legitimately a chance that Brown has a good year this year.
19:19He just re-ups with the Bengals on a multi-year deal.
19:22So you have also that kind of value upside at the end of the year.
19:27But he is like sort of a year-to-year bet, but it's one that I feel really good about and that I'm not nervous about making.
19:35Just because I'm very high on Chase Brown in redraft, I think that leads to, oh, things go well for him in the offseason kind of naturally, right?
19:44So that's like my perspective on Brown. I understand that that's not quite going to be like the consensus.
19:51But he just, of anybody else I'm looking at that isn't like anciently old, he's the one I feel best about in
19:58terms of this is just a top five, top six running back in 2026.
20:03And therefore, I think the dynasty value will naturally carry forward from that.
20:07I've gone back and forth on whether or not the Bengals are going to extend him.
20:12I've gone back and forth. This is one of the cheapest franchises that I can remember.
20:17And can he just be replaced? And he's a later round pick.
20:21It's really hard to get behind these guys. Just where my big issue with Bucky is, which we'll get to later.
20:28But I think the Bengals are in position to extend him.
20:32I think the minute it happens, I'm going to have him right where you do, Ryan.
20:37But that's 100% the only reason is, is this later round running back going to get that second contract in this great offense?
20:45I mean, I'm glad you brought up Kyron Williams because I'm lower than both of you guys on Brown.
20:51And then I was interested to see that I'm significantly higher than either of you on Kyron Williams.
20:57And like, I guess like, I don't know what's the difference.
21:01Like Brown's role is a little better. He definitely gets more receiving stuff.
21:05I think if you want to nitpick that in redraft, that makes a little bit more sense to me.
21:11From a dynasty standpoint, I'm trying to be a little bit more zoomed out because I just think Chase Brown is a
21:18pretty severe talent gap from everyone else that we've talked about so far on the show.
21:24And I think it's like almost necessary that over some point in his career this year, I wouldn't be surprised.
21:30Future years, I certainly wouldn't be surprised that someone takes like at least what Blake Horam is taking, which is like a
21:37small chunk of fairly trivial rush attempts. And Kyron Williams is younger than Chase Brown, by the way.
21:43And so I'm kind of surprised to see this massive of a gap between them.
21:48I still view them as very similar. I have Chase Brown ranked higher.
21:53But like my gap on these two guys, I have Brown at 12.
21:57I have Kyron at 18. You guys were up at 10 and 11 on Brown and then Kyron's down in the 20.
22:04So I guess I am curious like why it's such a big difference between those two backs that I think are similar
22:11profiles in terms of being like fine talents, not high pedigree guys, but certainly, you know, very strong fantasy assets.
22:18I really what it comes down to is I have like a project, not my literal projections.
22:24I don't do literal projections. I leave that to Chris Wecht.
22:27But my like median projection gap for Chase Brown versus Kyron Williams this year would be between like four and five points.
22:34Like I just think Brown is going to outscore Williams by that much this year, largely because of the situations.
22:41I think maybe you're even underselling a little bit just how big of a difference it is between Kyron having already lost
22:48that 40 percent opportunity share to Blake Corum and maybe more versus Chase Brown having.
22:53Yeah, there were some games last year when Samaj P.
22:56Ryan was slightly more involved, but I've tweeted up a storm about all of these splits.
23:02They basically all end up in Brown averaging close to 20 fantasy points per game.
23:07Anytime Joe Burrow's playing kind of regardless of whether he's in this CMC light 90 percent of the snaps role or this
23:14like 16 to 18 carries and a bunch of passing down and goal line role like it.
23:20It all just kind of equals out to him being a high end RB one or like, yeah, a top five, top
23:27six running back by actual fantasy points by expected fantasy points.
23:30So I just see I guess I don't see it as nearly as likely that Brown takes kind of a fall as
23:38we've already seen Kyron do as Kyron could easily continue to do as Blake Corum continues to look pretty good to me at the very least.
23:46So, yeah, I just think if if Blake Corum was on the Bengals, I might have the rankings literally swapped, maybe not
23:53quite as high on Kyron in that scenario. But that's kind of where I am.
23:58And I just don't really think there is a Blake Corum on the Bengals right now.
24:04I think there's something interesting, too, where we're talking about Chase Brown potentially getting that next shiny extension where Kyron kind of already got his.
24:12What I find interesting is it's only a two point three million dollar dead cap in 2027 to release him and a
24:19zero dead cap for 2028 in that contract. The extension he signed was a little bit of a funny money type extension.
24:26And I don't see that being the case for Chase Brown.
24:30So there's a very real chance, let's say, is the Rams continue to push all these chips in that Kyron Williams doesn't
24:37play his way into the the ten million dollars he's owed next season.
24:42And they move on from him to get some extra help somewhere else as this team really has a two year window.
24:49I'm putting kind of that in place. And as Ryan laid out, there is not a Blake Corum on the Bengals.
24:56We've got the P line himself still kind of being the big threat for a takeaway on two really good offenses.
25:03And then, of course, should anything happen to Stafford in terms of retiring after year one, I don't think it really matters
25:10if Kyron is on that team in two years.
25:13So that offense just immediately becomes not the same.
25:16So we saw the effect with even Puka at the moment that it kind of looked like Stafford may not play or
25:23he might retire or they didn't have to put him in a cryogenic chamber to heal himself up.
25:29So magically, Puka's value is already kind of starting to take a hit.
25:33So I think it is a little bit just kind of tied too much, let's say, to the environment with not enough to back it up.
25:42But I have Kyron Williams a little bit down, which I've been the Kyron guy of the show for a couple of years now.
25:50I'm just ready to be ahead now, I think.
25:53All right, into the next tier. So we now go on to Brees Hall comes in as our, lost the count here, looks like RB13.
26:01So we're into the RB2 range at Dynasty now.
26:04Saquon Barkley at RB14. Trevion Henderson, RB15. Cam Scadaboo comes in as our RB16.
26:09So that is another four-person tier and a little bit of a difference between us.
26:13I had that tier ranked Hall, Scadaboo, Henderson, Barkley.
26:16Brees Hall I had ahead of both Chase Brown and Quinshon Judkins.
26:20Ryan has Hall the highest of this tier as well, but a little bit further down than me.
26:26And then Tom has Saquon Barkley as the highest guy in this tier.
26:31So going with the old man. I think there's a massive bounce back here ahead for Barkley.
26:36I think that offensive line being healthy again. If you look at the splits with guys like Lane Johnson on the field
26:43and off the field, I think it is a massive difference.
26:47I can also definitely see a world where they kind of ease off the tush push a little bit.
26:53Even the offensive linemen in Philadelphia have talked about kind of wanting to dial it back a little bit.
27:00Again, health and longevity if that's the case. And there's an opportunity for more inside the three even.
27:06Goal line work for Barkley. I really like that.
27:09I'm not as big on a Tank Bigsby as some people around the industry have been.
27:14But really eating into his workload. I think they want it to run through Barkley.
27:19And I think the absence of A.J. Brown is definitely going to lead to more opportunities for Barkley on the ground near
27:26the red zone to finish more drives off. I just think what we saw last year is a little bit of a
27:33little bit of circumstance with his outcome. And it's coming off the big 2,000 yard season.
27:38And he's going to replicate it. And we've got ourselves really hyped up for it.
27:43And yeah, the offensive line and other issues with the team is a massive bounce back year for Barkley.
27:50Could be his last shot. But I don't know.
27:53I think last year is definitely the outlier. I'm inclined to agree with you on Barkley's outlook for this year.
27:59I've been drafting him quite aggressively in seasonal leagues.
28:02I'm very ahead of market in my best ball and FFPC rankings.
28:06Dynasty, I just tend to be very low as a general rule.
28:10On the older running backs. I come away highest with Hall ahead of the guys in this tier and most of the
28:17tier above because I just think he is the safest.
28:21And I guess that's kind of where I'm leaning at this stage of the running back era where he's only 25.
28:28I'm not really worried about age concerns with him for a couple of years.
28:32The situation is not ideal, and that's what's suppressing his price.
28:36But I do feel quite confident this is one of the most talented running backs in the league and one of the
28:43most fantasy-friendly profiles in terms of what he can bring as a receiver.
28:47I'm weirdly optimistic about the Jets' offensive environment this year.
28:51I think that it's a lot better on paper than it is when you just think Jets' offense.
28:57And so I'm pretty ahead of the market on every member of the Jets' offense this year.
29:02But Hall in particular has always been a player I've had a ton of affinity for and I think is a pretty strong bet.
29:10The other ones all have different risk factors. Like Barkley, it's purely just an age thing where as long as he is
29:17Barkley, he's going to score a ton of points.
29:20If there's ever an injury, if there's ever a sign of decline, you just have so much downside risk in Dynasty, and
29:28it's how much you calibrate that in. Henderson, Skadaboo, a pretty wide range of outcomes bets, and it comes down to your risk tolerance.
29:35Like the value ceiling there, really high. If you have Henderson taking over the lead role this year, if you have Skadaboo
29:43coming in fully healthy off the injury, I do think that compared to any other running back who's worth this much or
29:50more in Dynasty, these are the two that have the highest risk of just not being a starter on their team going into 2027.
29:58That's probably because Skadaboo gets replaced, and it's probably because Henderson doesn't ever become the starter over Ramondre Stevenson.
30:04And so I think it just comes down to like, what are you looking for in this range?
30:10Are you looking for the highest projected points right away?
30:13I think that's clearly Barkley. Are you looking for the highest possible value upside swing?
30:18That's probably one of the second year backs. For me, it's Brees Hall that middles that a little bit between the two,
30:26and I find that the most attractive. But it's a very interesting range of what types of assets you're willing to prioritize.
30:33Yeah, I'd largely agree with all that. My only addition here to this tier is I've been having nightmares.
30:39I have nightmares about like a handful of players every offseason where I get concerned.
30:44Am I way too low on these guys? Are these guys going to come back to bite me for not being ahead
30:51of market on them just in general? And that's been Cam Skadaboo for me for the last couple of weeks.
30:58I am not moving him up from where I have him, which is right behind Travion Henderson.
31:03I don't think I'm moving him up in redraft or anything like that either.
31:08But man, just like the more I look at like running back workloads and what really leads to fantasy points at the
31:15running back position, the more Skadaboo just constantly pops in all the research I do.
31:20This was a fun stat that I had up on the screen right now.
31:25This is expected fantasy points per game over the last two seasons, only in games above a 50% snap share.
31:31So just to take out like injury games or games where a guy maybe wasn't the starter yet.
31:37And Skadaboo's fourth on this list behind only Christian McCaffrey, B.
31:41John Robinson and hilariously Joe Mixon, who just got completely fed in that final year with the Texans two years ago.
31:48But yeah, with Skadaboo, it's scary to me because I've been out for injury based reasons and offensive environment based reasons.
31:55But I do worry like the way that Skadaboo scores points or his like path to fantasy relevance is pass catching and
32:02just being like a goal line hammer. That those things aren't super reliant on how elusive and how explosive he necessarily is coming off of an injury.
32:11Right. Like I could like imagine Skadaboo having like a 2017 Melvin Gordon type of season.
32:16I don't know if I have the year right, but just to paint the picture of like kind of a slower plotting,
32:23like big back that just is constantly finding the end zone.
32:27Like, I don't know. I'm a little nervous because, yeah, if that does happen and if he is anywhere near like a
32:34top 12 running back this year, yeah, he's vaulting into the top 12 of Dynasty ADP for sure.
32:40And that will be like a massive missed opportunity.
32:43So, yeah, he's just just wanted to share those thoughts is my little like therapy circle that I'm using preemptively to lessen the pain.
32:51If Skadaboo does hurt me this year. I think it's really hard to predict what Skadaboo is going to look like with that much precision.
32:59There's just so many unknowns about the situation from the injury to a new coaching staff to a teammate's injury.
33:06Malik Nabors, which is also very volatile and I think massively impacts what the offensive environment is going to be.
33:13You also are dealing with a second year quarterback who himself has a pretty volatile projection in terms of what he is going to be.
33:21There are just so many unknowns that I think it's kind of impossible to have a high degree of confidence.
33:27And I think ultimately it's just a spot where you have to try and average in all these different factors and come
33:35to the best kind of middle ground that you can in terms of setting an appropriate price.
33:40And then compare that to where the market is.
33:43I probably come away a little bit higher than you.
33:46I think I'm slightly up above the market in all formats, but only slightly.
33:51And I also have a lot of fear about how this goes.
33:55So I definitely think it's one of the tougher projections to get right going into 2020.
34:00Yeah, he's a very exciting player, but it is...
34:03Like you said, it's just very hard to predict any sort of future with him.
34:08But he did not lose all of his value off a very significant injury.
34:13So maybe that in and of itself is a little telling.
34:16But let's talk about who we have in the next run of tiers.
34:21Because I feel like this is really when we start differing in rankings.
34:25Yeah, this is our biggest tier. And one of the reasons it's the biggest tier is we just kind of had a wide spread.
34:33And they all wound up coming in somewhat similarly in the wash.
34:37And it was hard to draw a line between them.
34:40But we start off with Josh Jacobs. That's the guy that we had the most agreement on.
34:46Every single one of us had him at RB19.
34:49So that's interesting. After that, we get Derek Henry.
34:52Tom was the highest on him. I was the lowest by a pretty decent margin.
34:57We then get into Beishel Tootin. Highest on Tootin was Tom and Ryan.
35:01I was only one spot behind. So a lot of consensus on him.
35:05We get into Jadarian Price next. That's another one where there was a pretty big gap.
35:11Tom had him up at RB18. I had him at 22.
35:14Ryan down at 24. We get into Kyron Williams after that.
35:18Actually tied with Price technically. We got into how I was kind of oddly the highest person on Kyron Williams.
35:24I was a bit surprised by that given especially like mine and Tom's previous conversations about him.
35:30And then Bucky Irving was the one probably had the biggest split.
35:34Ryan and I both had him at 17. So we would have had him all the way at the top of this tier.
35:41Tom has him all the way down at RB27.
35:44So a full 10 spots behind. Excited to talk through him.
35:48Travis Etienne gets into this tier. We all had or I should say Ryan and I had him ranked very similarly.
35:55Tom also a good bit behind on Etienne. And then Javante Williams rounds out this tier.
36:00Tom had him the highest up at 21. Ryan at 22.
36:04I had him a decent bit lower. That's a big, big tier we'll get into here.
36:09And maybe we'll start with, maybe we'll start with Bucky because that was the biggest split.
36:14So I'm super interested to hear from Tom on him.
36:18So Bucky Irving is a guy that really excelled in his big breakout year because he got so many of the snaps.
36:25He's not a phenomenal athlete for a guy his size, which was always a bit alarming.
36:30You know, he doesn't really, he doesn't have the size that you would like to see from a really lead Belkow type.
36:37And Rashad White is gone and they replaced him with, in my opinion, a more capable running back.
36:43And not just that, a running back that also excels at the things that Bucky Irving is good at, which is pass
36:51catching and being a shifty type back. And they paid Gainwell pretty legitimate money, in my opinion.
36:56And the one thing we always talk about it when a team brings in or drafts a running back, you don't want
37:04him to be as good or better at some of the things that that 1A back does.
37:09And I think Gainwell can pass, he can do everything.
37:12Even though he hasn't really been looked at in NFL standards as a upper tier type player.
37:18He's always been a bit of a role player.
37:21I think the Bucks saw what he did last year and said, oh, if anything at all happens with Bucky, if he's
37:28not 100% there or we just want to split it up, they now don't have to tip their cap, if you would,
37:35when a different running back is in the game.
37:38And that worries me. Bucky Irving being a later round pick again.
37:42We talked about that with Chase Brown. I think last year was the worst fear or worst possible scenario for Dynasty managers with Bucky Irving with the injuries.
37:52And now again, you get a competent veteran back coming in on a team that has some serious contract stuff to really consider at quarterback.
38:00Like this team could look completely different next year, two years if Baker's gone or just how the makeup of the team is.
38:07Too many question marks for me. No real safety in his long-term outlook.
38:12Because again, they're not that invested in him. So I could end up wearing egg on my face for this.
38:18But this just screamed he's different than Kyron Williams.
38:21He didn't produce consistently like Kyron Williams did. He doesn't have that massive upside, let's say, like Chase Brown does.
38:28And in that environment that he's in, I think we could have been maybe duped a little bit with the Cohen magic, potentially, with somebody like Bucky Irving.
38:37I don't know. But again, I'm going to be okay wearing egg on my face, kind of avoiding him.
38:43I think these other backs that I have ahead of him have more upside long-term, potentially, than some of them like Bucky.
38:51Even though some of them haven't scored like him yet, I think the upside for some of these guys is just a little bit higher.
38:59I'll just take that. I think here. You go, Ryan.
39:02Okay, yeah. I'll just take that where you left that, Tom, which is the, yeah, just like the value upside for Bucky Irving.
39:10The reason I have him where I do, which is higher than a lot of names where you have him, is I
39:17actually think he's one of the last running backs that has like legitimate dynasty value upside.
39:22My base case for this offense is not that Bucky Irving is like the bell cow and is massively productive for fantasy this year.
39:30I'm lower on him in redraft, but it's still a talented player, at least in theory.
39:35He had a pretty fun profile coming out for a day three pick.
39:40He was extremely efficient as a rookie last year.
39:43Not so much, but dealing with injuries, dealing with an extremely decimated offensive line.
39:47And you get Zach Robinson, the OC, coming in this year, who has had one of the most valuable, most run-heavy backfields
39:54in the NFL over the past couple of seasons.
39:57Of course, he had B. John Robinson. I don't necessarily think that's anywhere near like the most likely outcome, but there is
40:05a world here where the Buccaneers are a bit more run-heavy.
40:08Bucky Irving is just able to get more volume, stays healthy, continues to be clearly the most efficient back in this backfield.
40:16Maybe doesn't get squeezed from both directions quite as much as he was last season if he's staying healthier, getting the goal line work.
40:23There are ways that this year can go very well for Bucky Irving, I guess is how I would put it.
40:30And I put a little bit more of a premium on that in Dynasty than I necessarily do in redraft, just because
40:38everyone that I have ranked after him, like Derrick Henry, Josh Jacobs, Travis H.
40:42and Javante Williams, Kyron Williams, all of these guys kind of are what they are.
40:47You're kind of getting their 2026 fantasy points and rolling over to next year and hoping, well, hopefully they're in the same
40:54type of spot and maybe I can get another year of fantasy points.
40:59None of these guys can do a whole lot to like shoot themselves up the Dynasty ADP value boards.
41:05I think Bucky still can and has an opening for that.
41:09I not necessarily like my favorite guy to target in Dynasty.
41:12I think it's like very specific, kind of like a Cam Scadaboo, a Travion Henderson.
41:17You're making like a I would say a worse version of those bets.
41:21But that type of kind of wide range of outcome value bet.
41:25He just kind of naturally fit in like behind those guys for me.
41:30But it really is like what you're looking for.
41:33I think that's just kind of how I did my rankings a little more.
41:37So I'm curious what Jacob has to say on Bucky.
41:41And then when you're done, I want to pose a similar hypothetical to you that you just posed to me.
41:47You wanted me to explain my gap between Chase Brown and Kyron Williams.
41:51I want you to explain your gap between Kyron Williams and Javante Williams, because these are like the same exact guy to me.
41:59Oh, I don't think those are the same exact guy whatsoever.
42:03I just I think Kyron Williams has proven over multiple years to be might not be my favorite flavor of running back,
42:10but to be something that the Rams really like and rely on.
42:14And he plays in all phases. And I think that he is probably in the Rams plans for the long haul.
42:21And because I've seen multiple years now of success in this lead role, I think that he's pretty solidified in that, at least for this year.
42:29Javante has just he's just more turbulent to me.
42:32Like I want to see it for multiple years in this role before I trust that going forward.
42:38The receiving profile on him also is dreadful. I know it's rough on Kyron.
42:43Also, I think that that's really a like Sean McVay thing.
42:46They don't throw to running backs in this offense.
42:49Generally, Kyron Williams, as a college player, was a really strong receiving back.
42:54That was actually his calling card coming out of college.
42:57I think if you dropped Kyron Williams into a random NFL offense that he would have totally fine receiving skills.
43:04He's always played in those situations. Javante last year was like horrifically inefficient as a receiving back.
43:092.7 yards per target. 0.44 yards per route run.
43:12Had only one game with more than two receptions.
43:15And I think three with two receptions with CeeDee Lamb active.
43:19And we've seen JJ Zacharyson did some great research on this where running backs who have outlier low yards per route run
43:26don't actually just see decreased passing game involvement. But really see decreased passing game or decreased involvement overall in the offense over the course of the next season.
43:35And I think Javante just has a lot of really glaring red flags.
43:40You also add in how inefficient he was the previous years in Denver.
43:44And maybe you want to throw that all up to injury issues.
43:48I just don't think this is a very good player is really where it comes down for me on Javante.
43:54I think Kyron at least has to me very defined strengths.
43:58And my prioritization and skill set, you know, if I was running an NFL team, probably a little bit different than what the Rams look for.
44:07But like it makes sense to me in the context of they're this pass happy team.
44:12They don't care as much about the explosiveness of the running game as they do about the consistency and the pass protection.
44:19And like clearly Kyron Williams gives them what they're looking for.
44:23So that would be my difference between those two guys on Bucky and on the tier more generally.
44:29Like I think you can kind of divide this tier into two groups, right?
44:33Or maybe three because Henry is a little bit of his own thing.
44:37But, you know, you have the guys that I think are are low ceiling bets in Dynasty from a value perspective because
44:45they kind of can't increase their value that much.
44:48That's like Jacobs, it's Henry, it's Kyron, it's Javante.
44:51And it's I'm not calling him Travis HN. It's Travis Etienne.
44:54Thank you. I applaud you for sticking to your guns on that.
44:58I've been bullied by it so much that I have like just made the switch.
45:03But I really I applaud you. I wish I had your guts to do that.
45:08Yeah, it's Travis Etienne. And I'm still writing his name as Etienne as well.
45:13Whenever I use Twitter. So because I'm not paying for the extra characters.
45:17Screw you, Elon. So anyways, those are clearly like points based bets, right?
45:21And then the other guys, Tootin, Bucky, Price are more value upside based bets.
45:26And obviously how many points they score directly correlated to that.
45:30I think the distinction between which of those kind of groups of players you prefer is really a more of a philosophical
45:37one than it is like a diving into the individual profiles one.
45:41I tend to be in Dynasty at this level.
45:44A little bit more interested in chasing the value than chasing the points at this particular kind of range of drafts and of the trade market.
45:52When you get into the micro stuff and like why I have Bucky ahead of Price and Tootin, that's what I'm really
46:00interested to hear from Ryan on because, you know, you're talking about being a little bit lower on Bucky and redraft, but
46:07kind of made that philosophical case for him. I'll make the player case for Bucky Irving, which is I thought he was
46:14a really underrated prospect coming out of college. I mean, I think it's fair to say I probably don't value the athletic
46:21testing particularly highly outside of its impact on draft capital.
46:25I looked at him and I was like, this is a guy that has really strong past game involvement in college, was
46:32able to demonstrate an ability to handle a high degree of volume despite being undersized.
46:37I kind of care more about that than I do about the size in its own and then had really, really strong evasion numbers.
46:45So consistently great yards after contact, missed tackles, forced throughout college.
46:48Guy was really high on coming into the league, was great in 2024.
46:532024, 2025 was rough. And I think it just comes down to like, I was in a discussion back and forth with
47:00Zane and he made, I think, a pretty completely reasonable case about Bucky, which is we have, you know, one relatively small
47:07sample of him being a great back, one relatively small sample of him being not as great.
47:13You know, which one should we get? I'm kind of taking the longer view of a college profile that I really like
47:20that I view him still as an extremely talented player.
47:23And I get the concerns with Kenny Gainwell. My bet is that we see Bucky look more like he did in 2024, more like he did in college.
47:32And whatever the split is in week one, if Bucky is that strong of a player, I think we see him ascend over time.
47:40I'd put that similar long view lens on Kenny Gainwell, which is that he just had the best year he's ever had
47:48as a 50-year player, you know, on the Pittsburgh Steelers and a pretty odd offense.
47:53And like, I'm not necessarily relying on that. That's the Kenny Gainwell we're going to see going forward either.
47:59So I think we see Bucky and Gainwell both look a little bit more like how we would have perceived them from
48:06a talent perspective prior to last year. And I think things shift toward Irving over time.
48:11But I'm interested, especially Ryan, like if you're a little lower on Irving from a redraft perspective, why him over guys like
48:19Tootin or Price then who I think are pretty similar like value upside type targets?
48:24Well, I also had Irving as like a better prospect than I had Tootin as.
48:28I feel like Tootin is like the guy we talk about and pump up a lot like between our content for sure.
48:36But just because the market gap has been bigger for longer on that.
48:40But yeah, not all of Tootin's like evasion numbers specifically were as good as Bucky's if I'm remembering correctly.
48:46Certainly the passing down role wasn't quite as much there.
48:50I think that's even more of a projection with him than it is for a Bucky Irving.
48:55I still think it's like maybe 50-50 for them to outscore each other this year or like at least very close to it.
49:03But I think I still in Dynasty want to lean a little bit more toward who I think is the better prospect
49:10and the better player in a total vacuum. Than I do in Redraft because yeah, I may have Tootin is I think
49:17I'll probably have them back to back in Redrafts like actual rankings.
49:21That of course results in me getting a lot of Hootin and not a lot of Bucky.
49:27I just think that the gap as players and maybe even you could put it as like value floor is just gives like a little bit to Bucky.
49:36But yeah, I don't know. You're convincing me. Maybe I just need to move Tootin even further up my rankings honestly, but
49:43I don't know if that was your intended effect.
49:46But that's kind of the effect that this is having on me as I think through that question.
49:52Well, I mean I prefer Bucky to Tootin in seasonal formats.
49:56But like they're the same age and Tootin's even a year lower into his career.
50:01So to me, like if I prefer Tootin in Redraft to Bucky, I think it would probably be pretty reasonable to prefer Tootin to Bucky in Dynasty.
50:10Yeah, I think it's more like at cost. I've preferred Tootin to Bucky in Redraft.
50:15Have you checked on their costs recently? Because those costs are pretty darn similar.
50:19Yeah, they could be completely flipped by the time August 30th hits for sure.
50:24I think, I'm going to double check, but I'm pretty sure Tootin has the higher ADP in the main event right now.
50:31I'll double check that. Well, yeah, if that's the case, then yeah, totally.
50:35They are, as I said, they're basically 50-50 bets to outscore each other this year for me.
50:41And that's, yeah, that's where I would be in the main event.
50:45Luckily, I'm not writing content for the main event.
50:48It would be a pretty awkward blurb edit that I would have to make over in Anatomy of a League winner right now.
50:55Yeah, it's still a two-round-ish difference between Tootin and Bucky Irving in my ADP source.
51:00So there's still a little bit of a gap here that people are perceiving long-term.
51:05I want to say part of the thing with me, with Bucky as well, is the massive difference in goal line split.
51:13Year one is a 50% touch inside the five.
51:15Last year was a 0%. They didn't want him anywhere near it, healthy or not.
51:20So I think we're going to see what happens with Robinson.
51:24The other player we are so widely apart from is Derrick Henry.
51:28I think a lot of that can be willed away with the age conversation that we had earlier.
51:34I just think Derrick Henry stays in Baltimore. I actually think he retires in Baltimore, if I'm being perfectly honest.
51:41And I really think until the wheels completely fall off, you're getting, at minimum, a 1,200-yard, 12-touchdown running back.
51:47And maybe, just maybe, they get a, with the new offensive coordinator in town, they maybe pass to Derrick Henry a few more times.
51:55Because I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but every time they seem to do a design checkdown or screenplay
52:02to Derrick Henry that he doesn't drop the football, there is nobody near him.
52:07And that is just a max-level threat to other defenders' health.
52:10So we'll see what happens. I'm hoping that we get maybe a 20-catch season from Derrick Henry.
52:16If you add that on to 12 to 1,500 yards and 10 to 16 rushing touchdowns, I think he smashes.
52:22I think he's going to do this for the next couple of years.
52:27I think he is a bit of a unicorn.
52:30I'm going to ride with Derrick Henry until the wheels fall off.
52:34He's just a continuous point scorer. The other one for me is also Josh Jacobs I kind of want to mention before we get out of here.
52:42Last year of his contract, still some legal stuff going on, and yet none of us seem really phased.
52:49This could definitely end up being like a let's use whatever he's got left, and he kind of gets Joe Mixon, let's say, just without the injuries.
52:58I can definitely see that being a scenario. You could also end up re-signing and staying long-term.
53:03He's been the often kind of fat-ass RB god, the RB1 that nobody wants, let's say.
53:08But yet we all seem to consensus have him comfortably still sitting, not worried about the legal stuff right now, not worried
53:16about contract stuff right now, not worried about the athleticism plummeting year over year.
53:20Josh Jacobs still holding strong his leadoff spot, let's say, in the E tier.
53:25Found that to be interesting as well. Let's get to the next tier of players.
53:30All right. This is now going to be the last tier of players that we all three of us had ranked.
53:37So it's our second, our penultimate total tier, and that is DeAndre Swift, David Montgomery, and RJ Harvey.
53:43So I think it would be fair to say DeAndre Swift and David Montgomery are like, I don't know, kind of just
53:50like discount versions of all the boring veterans that we just named.
53:54You know, so like, you know, you look at like what we were talking about with Jacobs and Kyron and Etienne and Javante.
54:02I don't know exactly how you define this, but somehow Swift and Montgomery just kind of pop out as like the slightly worse version of those bets.
54:10And then Harvey, I think it becomes the slightly worse version of what we were just talking about with Irving and Tootin and Price.
54:18So Harvey was another guy that there was, I thought, or I was going to say there was disagreement on.
54:25There was actually shocking levels of agreement on, given he's a player that I think is pretty polarizing.
54:31Ryan and I each had him at 28. Tom had him at 26.
54:35Swift and Montgomery, we all had kind of in that similar range.
54:39What are your guys' outlook for, I don't know if we need to talk about DeAndre Swift and David Montgomery.
54:46We can if you want, but what are your outlooks for, all right.
54:50I think we need to talk about DeAndre Swift.
54:53Let's talk about it. As the leader of the Rutgers RBU late round God running backs like Pacheco and Kyle Monungay have
55:00been, the Kyle Monungay hive has gone insane. It's bypassed.
55:03They drive me nuts. There was a time last year where I didn't want to trade Kyle Monungay away with a draft
55:11pick to go and get a wide receiver because I thought he would be a legitimate player, right?
55:17Like I didn't want to trade an actual player with a pick to go and get like a T Higgins, let's say.
55:24This was in our home league. I went back and forth and then the day I trade him away, Kyle Monungay ends
55:31up scoring and he ends up going on having a big game.
55:35And I was like, oh, this is confirming my bias, whatever.
55:39And then we get here into this offseason. I can't believe the expectations people have with Monungay.
55:44DeAndre Swift being left kind of out in the cold.
55:48There's no chance that DeAndre Swift, he's going to lose his job by week four completely.
55:53I think DeAndre Swift was a lot better than people give him credit for and especially for your fantasy lineups.
55:59I mean, 37 missed tackles force is nothing to shake his stick at.
56:04People laugh at 13.4 points per game, but I talk about it constantly on this program.
56:09We're talking about what RB, what did you, what do you mean?
56:13RB 28 here. Something like that for somebody like DeAndre Swift.
56:17You're getting 13.4 points per game. That is insane value in my opinion.
56:21I think he's going to continue to be an insane value moving forward considering heading into last year, people were like, oh, Ben Johnson hates him.
56:29He's the reason he was run out of Detroit.
56:32There was all that narrative. I just think DeAndre Swift is going to be kind of the poster child for the Island of Misfit Toys.
56:41You know, the players that nobody wants but always produce.
56:44I think that's what this tier is going to be.
56:47I think Harvey has a really good chance of passing a lot of the guys in the tier above him, like Irving, like A-Chan, but like Javante, etc.
56:56I think Harvey could do that. So he feels a little off in this tier for me.
57:02But yeah, the Swift and Montgomery-esque tier is like my tier of running back in Dynasty.
57:07And I think they should get talked about. I think they all can't smash.
57:12I don't believe in Woody Marks. I think he stinks.
57:15So I like Monty. But for the same reason, Swift just should not be left out in the cold as bad.
57:22The Monunga stuff. It's making me crazy. All right.
57:25I'm glad you brought up Swift then because we had actually, on a recent episode of Ship Chasing, I ended up being
57:32an unsuccessful but impassioned case to take DeAndre Swift on one of our teams.
57:37And he's been oddly a target for me this year.
57:40I think he had his best year as a pro last year on the field.
57:45I'm not like talking about strictly fantasy stuff. I think that there's a conception a lot of times because often it is
57:52true that when you get a rookie that kind of comes onto the scene next to a veteran and the rookie starts
58:00to carve out more of a role over the course of the year, the inclination is people to say, oh, you know, the rookie needs to play more.
58:09The veteran needs to play less. The rookie is the more efficient player.
58:13And oftentimes that's the case. It was not the case on the Bears last year.
58:18I have my stack box pulled up from my off-season Hitchhiker's Guide article.
58:22And Kyle Manunga was marginally better in yards after contact per attempt.
58:26But almost every other metric I look at, Swift was better.
58:30He was better in missed tackles forced per attempt, substantially better in rush yards over expected, better in PFF grade, better in
58:37every single receiving metric, better in success rate. And better, this is the most amazing part if you are familiar with DeAndre Swift's career.
58:45Number one in the entire NFL last year among qualified backs in rushes over expectation percentage.
58:50That like, DeAndre Swift has been like dead last in that metric for honestly like most of his career.
58:57I think a lot of that I put on Ben Johnson where he was able to scheme each of these guys into
59:04pretty fortunate situations for the two of them. And that's fair and fine.
59:08But he still has Ben Johnson this year. He was the more effective of the two in all phases last year.
59:15And I think it's set up to succeed in a major way.
59:19I would love the Bears to invest in like a true superstar running back.
59:24I think it could take their offense to the next level.
59:27But if this is their backfield for this year, I think Swift is a much more dynamic player.
59:33And I agree as we kind of go down the value metric here that the ideas of Swift and Montgomery, that's kind
59:41of a pocket where I like to play for points.
59:44Harvey, pretty wide open profile. I think the difference to me between him, Tootin, Price, Irving is like he just has a
59:51far less clear picture of how he's going to be startable this year.
59:55I think he's going to have to show significant improvement as a down-to-down runner in order to get to the level of
60:03where those guys already project, which is kind of as the startable RB2s.
60:07I'm excited to see his second season. I've been very in on him at his price in best ball especially, where I
60:14don't necessarily have to worry as much about the specifics of the role from a week-to-week perspective.
60:20But in Dynasty, I think he's a really volatile asset.
60:23I thought he was a big sell early in the offseason.
60:27The market has cooled on him a ton. I would be interested in potentially acquiring him where I think people view him as somewhat of a finished product.
60:36And in this satellite role, I still think there's upside for him going into year two to take on more of the rushing.
60:43So I'm quite interested to see how his 2026 season pans out.
60:47Yeah, I agree with most of what Jacob just said on Harvey.
60:51I really like him relative to how people talk about him in Dynasty circles especially, is kind of what I'd put it on.
60:59Where am I actually versus ADP or the market?
61:02Probably pretty close to where it's settled at this point.
61:05But yeah, there is easily a possible world where J.K.
61:09Dobbins gets injured again, or Harvey is just a much more effective runner in year two, as we have seen for plenty of running backs.
61:17It's year two is like the big leap forward type of year, as we've seen from all the age curves research and
61:24everything else we've talked about for years. Like I do feel like people forget about that just a little bit with Harvey.
61:31Jonah Coleman being a prospect that I actually really liked coming into this complicates that a little bit.
61:37But yeah, I've been kind of more making my bets in redraft with Harvey than in Dynasty just because of that.
61:44I think at least in a one year sample, you have a little bit more of like safety from a Jonah Coleman
61:51coming in and kind of ruining things. But that's a possible path to that I would acknowledge.
61:57But I do think like the bigger point is going to be for me around DeAndre Swift, David Montgomery.
62:03I not only do I think that they're cheaper versions of like the Javante Williams or Travis H.
62:09And or Kyron Williams bets. I don't actually think there's that much separation or at least not nearly as much separation as
62:16ADP in any format would imply between any of these guys.
62:20All of them, save for Montgomery, are on what we expect to be pretty strong offenses.
62:25In fact, I might put the Saints at the bottom of that in terms of overall like running back expected points that I would expect.
62:34Right. I all of them are backs that could simply just run hot at the goal line on touchdowns if their offenses facilitate it.
62:41That's exactly what we saw, of course, with Javante Williams last year with Kyron Williams.
62:46Like they were on these high octane offenses that were constantly getting them to the goal line and giving them those opportunities.
62:54They're just priced as if that's guaranteed to happen again for them.
62:58Whereas that is not how DeAndre Swift is priced on an ascending offense that everybody is extremely excited about.
63:04That's not how David Montgomery is priced on an offense where at least even if they're not getting to the goal line
63:11a ton, this is one of the best defenses in the NFL.
63:15It could be just constant positive game script for David Montgomery.
63:19They're going to love to give it to him at the goal line.
63:23That was his role with the Lions for years.
63:26Like you can so easily paint a picture of just an outlier kind of touchdown total season for any of these guys.
63:33And that's like really their path to upside to being a high end RB2 to low end RB1 that you actually care about.
63:41And I just don't think the chances are that different for any of them.
63:45And yeah, you're getting Swift in Montgomery and even Ramondre Stevenson is like a slightly more fragile version of that bet much, much later in every format.
63:54This is the running back dead zone to me this year.
63:58And it's only the dead zone because you can get a pretty similar profile a couple rounds later.
64:04All right. That concludes the guys that each of the three of us all had in our top 30.
64:10We are through RB27 on our collective ranks. We each ranked 30 running backs.
64:15There were five backs that at least one of us ranked.
64:18And there were four here that at least two of us ranked.
64:22I'll cut it off with the top three. So 28, 29, and 30 based on how highly we rank them.
64:29Um, the collective RB28 is Jonathan Brooks. And this is an interesting one because he was not very close to being off the list for two of us.
64:38Um, I had him as my RB25. Tom had him as his RB23.
64:42He was left off of Ryan's list. So interested to hear about that one.
64:47The next up is Ramondre Stevenson. He comes in 26 for Ryan.
64:51He came in 27 for, or 28 for Tom.
64:54Um, he was off my list. I'll note that had I had literally one more spot on my list, he would have came in at RB31 for me.
65:03Um, and then Jonah Coleman rounds out our list.
65:06Ryan and I both had him right at the edge of our list here at RB29.
65:11Um, he does not make Tom's list. The other guy who came in, if we want to throw him on for fun,
65:19other guy who came in on two of our lists, Jalen Warren.
65:23Ryan and I each had him as our literal RB30.
65:26Just missed Tom's list. And then Tom had Blake Corum as his RB30.
65:30He did not make either of our lists. That's everybody that we had ranked in some capacity.
65:36I first want to hear from Ryan on Brooks because Tom and I had him quite comfortably on our list.
65:42Uh, you did not at all. You're, I assume a big Chuba Hubbard or Trevor A.
65:48Chan truther. I will concede off the top that I copied my rankings, uh, from three weeks ago when I last updated
65:55them before some of the Jonathan Brooks, uh, like hype train had really left the station.
66:00I would probably throw him on over Jalen Warren at this point as my RB30 if we were to redo this and I were to pay closer attention.
66:09So my bad there. Here's my thing with Jonathan Brooks.
66:13Brooks, Brooks, while I'm excited about him as like a late round redraft pick, like maybe he overtakes Chuba Hubbard.
66:19I think all of that is entirely possible. In Dynasty, whenever I have the opportunity to turn a player who has been
66:26basically nothing real into something real, which is, yeah, right now he's valued around a late first and early second.
66:33I tend to want to do that. I have questioned the overall value upside of a Jonathan Brooks.
66:39I think right now everybody is seeing him as, oh, this is like this new player.
66:44It's basically like he's a rookie. This is basically like his first year in the NFL.
66:49Uh, but that's not the case. People are going to realize that as the calendar turns and they see his age in
66:57their spreadsheets is right up there with some of the other kind of volatile value bets that we've talked about.
67:03Uh, through like throughout this show. Right. So I think like his best cases, he kind of ends up in the special
67:11to in or the Kyron Williams or the Chase Brown like area next year where people are debating like, is there enough runway here at his age anymore?
67:20Uh, is he actually talented enough to hold on to the role longterm?
67:24I just don't think there's a world where Brooks vaults himself into, oh, this is like an unquestioned top 12 running back talent in the league.
67:33I just don't see that really. And I could be totally wrong.
67:37As I said, I'm like, whatever. Why don't you see that?
67:40Uh, cause I didn't see him that way as a prospect.
67:44Really? I saw him as like a pretty decent prospect.
67:47Uh, I think I liked him over Trey Benson coming out that year, but like pretty clearly around two type of prospect.
67:54Uh, he did have legitimate passing game chops. So like, I see the every down like, or three down upside for sure.
68:02I don't know that he's like the most explosive player or that he's going to be like putting an NFL offense on
68:09his back, uh, in a way that like we've seen a Ken Walker do, for example.
68:14Like, I don't think he compares to any of these guys.
68:18So I, like, I, I just, to me, like Brooks has a good year this year and I'm sitting in front of
68:25Jacob Sanderson next off season and he's telling me, well, Jonathan Brooks is basically like Chase Brown.
68:31He's basically like Kyron Williams. That's just kind of where I see the market going on him and souring, but maybe I'm just totally out of step.
68:40Maybe everybody else just thinks Jonathan Brooks is a lot better than I think he is, or at least I is more
68:47confident that he's better than I think he is.
68:50And that, that's just a out of step, out of touch thing for me right now.
68:55So you said that you haven't paying as much attention into, uh, the redraft ADP.
69:00Um, do you know where he's been going in the, uh, in the main event lately?
69:05Yeah. Do you have to guess? Yeah. I'm aware he's going ahead of Chuba Hubbard in the main event.
69:11My guess is he's going at like the, the mid fifth would be my guess.
69:16No, not that. He's going at 65. So middle of the sixth round for Jonathan Brooks right now in, in, in a high stakes redraft.
69:25I mean, I tend to agree that that is assuming a lot.
69:29I don't think I'll be clicking him at that price.
69:32I mean, I don't think that the dynasty market now, it might get different where if you're talking to an individual Jonathan
69:39Brooks manager, they're probably more in tune with the Jonathan Brooks hype.
69:43And he might be hard to grab, but like, you know, we're talking about him in this bottom tier here next to like Ramond Ray Stevenson.
69:52I mean, that's a long way away in value range from what you're talking about with Chase Brown.
69:58You know, that, that was like 45 minutes of this show ago.
70:02So I think there's a lot of room to grow between that and like tier C.
70:07I agree that, yeah, probably this isn't, I agree that his prospect profile is definitely not like Ashton Gentry, Jeremiah Love.
70:14I wouldn't even say it's in the same tier as a Marion Hampton, Reese Hall, Trevion Henderson, you know, who hasn't been
70:21what I hoped you'd be as a prospect yet.
70:24But I agree that it was not at that level, but like, you know, you talk about the guys in E there, you mentioned Tootin, Price, Irving.
70:33Like, I think Brooks was a better prospect than all of those guys.
70:37And who knows how much is left of that, but it is pretty enticing that there's basically nothing in his path this year.
70:45I mean, it's true by freaking Hubbard who lost his job immediately to Rico Dowdle last year.
70:50And if Brooks is going to be healthy and can look good, I don't really know what's stopping him from just becoming
70:58the RB1 on that team this year. And there's probably going to be a lot of good vibes behind him.
71:04I think part of the reason why people are so excited is that no one really has any negative energy towards him yet.
71:12Like he's, it's, it's an easy story to root for.
71:15No one's had to go through a draft season arguing against him before.
71:19No one has grievances with the times that he let them down yet.
71:24So there's not really like a negative energy against him to counter push.
71:28And like, we've seen how much the very in tune market is willing to steam this guy.
71:33We just talked about it being around six redraft pick.
71:37Like if he goes out early in the season and looks like he's going to take hold of the job.
71:43I think that the dynasty price on him could completely balloon.
71:47So I don't know that we're all the way up towards full steam ahead yet.
71:52What I look at on this chart, at least is a pretty darn reasonable dynasty price.
71:57Like looking at where his ADP is going right now.
72:01He is still like not even on this list.
72:03RB32. And it's like, I think his value upside, you know, compared to guys like Blake Corum, Kyle Manungai, Jalen Warren, like
72:11I get maybe you can't trade for him at that price in your specific league.
72:16But if you can, I think you really should because his value upside is way higher than those guys to me.
72:23And the, the fear of missing out costs is pretty darn low.
72:27Like if you don't have a Corum or a Manungai or a Ramondre or a Warren on your team, you will be fine.
72:34And if you actually really do need Ramondre Stevens on your team that badly, it's time to reconsider your dynasty team because
72:41these are our RB2s that you can live without.
72:44I think Brooks remains one of the highest upside swings and a pretty big dynasty buy.
72:50I just don't think it's going to take much to boost Brooks to that next spot, which is why I believe I
72:57was the highest on him at this point. I can see if he does anything through that backstretch, if he finishes with
73:04say 900 yards rushing and another 350, 400 receiving, and most of that being towards the back half, I think that's going
73:11to 100% carry through to the following season. And I see a world where he can definitely get off to a slow start.
73:19Like you mentioned, Ryan, I just don't think that is going to eliminate hype for him through the back half of the year.
73:26If he takes off, I don't think people are going to care as much for a slow start with Brooks.
73:33I think that we're going to hit like a massive positivity run here with him.
73:38They're going to give him a little bit more grace while they're easing them in.
73:43They want to be a little bit careful. They want to see how things are going to turn out.
73:49I can already see these conversations hitting. I think you're going to end up a hundred percent correct.
73:55Like by week six, we're still not seeing, you know, 60% of the snaps and Chubahaw are taking most of the receiving work.
74:03I think, I think that week six range is where we would see some of that negativity, but I think Jacob's right.
74:10I don't think it's going to take much to fill that gap between the G tier and to that upper tier end
74:17of that, that E tier, let's say. And I think that's more than worth the price.
74:22So those are our tiers. Those are our running backs who didn't make the list.
74:27Who do you think shouldn't be on the list?
74:30I'm sure there's going to be someone here that someone adamantly disagrees with being too high, too low.
74:36That's where we have them. Not just tiered, but these are ranked as well.
74:41So these are the official consensus dynasty points running back rankings in dynasty right now.
74:46Hopefully you enjoyed the video. We'll be doing wide receivers on the next one.
74:51I can't wait for that two hour long episode.
74:53I know everyone's been asking for longer and longer episodes.
74:57Well, next week, that's, that's when that's hitting. I cannot, I cannot imagine that being a short episode.
