Amon-Ra St. Brown

NegativeValue53:00

St. Brown was mentioned as part of a trade package where Carnell Tate and Javante Williams were traded for Amon-Ra St. Brown, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2027 second-round pick. The source considers this trade worth doing, as it gets a first, a second, and more than replacement-level production compared to what's expected from Tate in the Titans' consolidated offense.

Insight page

Antonio Williams

NegativeBreakout44:08

Williams ran only 11 routes in Week 1 but was super productive with 4 catches on 4 targets; had two targets inside the 20 and a .36 targets per route run rate. The source notes his win rate is really good, fantasy points and expected fantasy points lined up, and he performed as expected in opportunities given. He's currently fourth on the wide receiver depth chart but played far less snaps than Deami Brown, which the source expects to change quickly. The source is bullish on Williams as a buy but cautions not to overpay (avoid sending a first-round pick), expecting opportunities to buy cheaper as variance regresses his early efficiency. He's likely capped as the wide receiver three behind Terry McLaurin and Stefan Diggs for most of the season but could eat into Diggs' slot usage if he continues providing explosive plays.

Insight page

Blake Corum

NegativeRole24:00

Source ranks him below Emmett Johnson as a handcuff option, characterizing Corum as 'much more of a two down player' with a less versatile fantasy archetype than Johnson. Source would start Johnson over Corum if both Ken Walker and Kyron Williams went down.

Insight page

Calvin Ridley

NegativeMatchup53:26

Ridley was mentioned as a historical reference point for quarterback play in Tennessee. The source notes that Mason Rudolph was at least functional for Ridley when Ridley last produced, implying that current Titans quarterback play is worse than even Rudolph's performance.

Insight page

Cam Ward

NegativeProjection48:38

Ward had an abysmal Week 1 performance at home against the Jets, which is one of the few spots all year the Titans should look competent. The source notes Ward was worse from a clean pocket than Deshaun Watson, which is a brutal signal. Ward airmailed a screen five feet over Ty Shakespeare's head from 15 feet away and spiked one three feet below Ron Wanda Robinson's feet. The source expresses serious concern given Ward's rookie season, full offseason, new coaching staff, and new play caller, yet he came out looking non-viable in Week 1. The source expects the Titans offense to remain a mess unless Ward improves significantly.

Insight page

Carnell Tate

PositiveBust49:18

Tate is a downfield, intermediate wide receiver who is environment-sensitive and not the type to get featured on easy-button work like slot receivers or yak gods. In Week 1, Cam Ward was abysmal, which severely limited Tate's fantasy value. The source notes this was the feared scenario going into the season: Tate in a dysfunctional offense. The source is not optimistic on Tate's fantasy value this season and suspects limited progression from Ward. Tate is not startable in this offense unless Ward improves significantly. The source compares this to a Roma Dunse-esque rookie season where not enough information will be gathered. However, the source notes Tate didn't do anything wrong himself and may be a buy-low candidate by Week 8-9 when frustrated owners want out of the environment.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveProjection35:10

Christian McCaffrey looked really great as a rusher in his Week 1 opportunities and remains one of the most dynamic offensive players in the NFL in the passing game; the source expects McCaffrey to maintain a decent rushing volume to keep the defense honest and maximize his receiving game value, suggesting his role will not be significantly diminished by Kalen Black.

Insight page

Deebo Samuel

PositiveRole33:13

Debo Samuel is back into his role from where he left off, taking over the pass-catching duties when Christian McCaffrey is off the field; the source notes that Kalen Black did not receive targets in Week 1, suggesting Debo is the preferred receiving option in the backfield.

Insight page

Dyami Brown

NegativeDepth Chart44:48

Brown played far more snaps than Antonio Williams in Week 1, but the source expects this to change quickly as Williams' production and efficiency warrant increased playing time.

Insight page

Eli Stowers

NegativeInjury55:18

Stowers was put on IR, and the source suspects it may have been just for roster management rather than a serious injury. The source notes Stowers had a worse start to his rookie season than Makai Lemon, and the Eagles' decision to place him on IR means they'll be running plenty of three-receiver sets, which could benefit Lemon's route volume.

Insight page

Emmett Johnson

PositiveRole21:00

Johnson looked phenomenal in week one, earning the number-two running back role over veteran Amari Di Mercado despite preseason competition. He started the second drive of the game and played in all game situations, positioning him as a premier handcuff who can be trusted in high-value touch situations if he ever gets a lead role. The source notes Johnson was always viewed as a contingent play given his smaller, slower college profile and lack of elite per-touch advanced metrics, but his week-one performance was a very positive outcome.

Insight page
PositiveRole21:47

Earned starting role on second drive of preseason game after strong summer and preseason; played in all game situations including third down, though less snaps than Ken Walker on first drive. Source views him as premier handcuff with trust to play in all high-value touch situations, noting he has everything desired in a handcuff prospect.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout23:00

Source expresses growing confidence in Johnson's NFL talent after watching preseason film; initially had concerns about college profile (smaller, slower, lacking elite per-touch advanced metrics compared to Aaron Jones, Bucky Irving, Devin Singletary), but has become increasingly impressed. Source made 'hot take' that Johnson is the number one handcuff in entire NFL already, ranking him above Blake Corum; would start Johnson over Corum if both Ken Walker and Kyron Williams went down, citing Johnson as better all-around fantasy archetype than Corum's two-down profile.

Insight page
NegativeValue23:58

Difficult to value in dynasty given no plausible path to standalone value before 2028-2029; source would not trade him for a low-value second-round pick and would not accept less than a late second in return. Source expresses frustration with valuation challenge: 'what would you let him go for? You're not going to just let him go for third, obviously. You're probably not even going to let him go for like a low value second.'

Insight page
PositiveProjection25:00

EPA added was a point (positive), though rushing yards over expectation was negative 7.4; source attributes negative RYOE to Denver's poor tackling performance, calling it 'one of the worst tackling performances' and 'one of the worst for missed tackles in a game ever,' suggesting Johnson's efficiency metrics were strong despite negative rushing yards over expectation.

Insight page
PositiveRole42:29

Johnson is the number one handcuff in football; the source prefers him over Washington because there's more to his profile and more meat on the bone, suggesting greater upside and role security.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

PositiveProjection7:00

The source is bullish on Mendoza's future performance after observing the Vegas offense operate efficiently with Kirk Cousins, who posted 0.21 EPA per drop back despite limited weapons. The offense featured heavy play-action usage, crossers, in-routes, and backfield targets—a scheme that should suit Mendoza well. Clint Kubiak's design intentionality and the improved offensive line (Linderbaum at center, Colton Miller at left tackle) suggest a strong environment for Mendoza when he enters the game, even though he may currently be limited as a player.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

NegativeValue52:48

Wilson was mentioned as a straight-up trade target in response to Carnell Tate's poor Week 1 performance and the Titans' offensive dysfunction. The source notes this trade makes sense given the environment concerns around Tate.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

PositiveRole12:15

Price posted the highest week-one snap rate for a rookie running back in the Fantasy Points data suite's history, operating as the lead back in the Seahawks' outside-zone scheme. The source was impressed with his explosiveness, comfort in the scheme (even more so than at Notre Dame), and pass-catching ability, including a sideline catch where he held on after getting hit. While the committee approach (with George Helani and Emmanuel Wilson handling short-yardage) is frustrating, the source sees a clear pathway for Price's role to improve given Helani and Wilson's poor performance (0.268 EPA for Helani) and Price's strong efficiency metrics (5.86 yards per carry, good yards before contact, low stuff rate).

Insight page

Javonte Williams

NegativeValue53:00

Williams was mentioned as part of a trade package where he and Carnell Tate were traded for Amon-Ra St. Brown, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2027 second-round pick. The source considers this trade worth doing.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveRole32:32

Jeremiah Love is the preferred back over Tyler Algier; the source expects Love to get on the field more often in a playoff-contending team situation, positioning him as the lead back going forward.

Insight page
PositiveProjection43:25

Love's film was absolutely phenomenal and he's projected as a top 12 running back within four to six weeks; his skill set is far too good to keep off the field long-term despite current committee usage with Tyler Algier.

Insight page
PositiveUsage46:50

Love received a touchdown from the four-yard line in Week 1, indicating the Cardinals are not exclusively using Tyler Algier near the goal line; Love got a four-yard touchdown, which is bullish for his red-zone role.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout47:19

Love looks as advertised as one of the best players in the league immediately; his skill set is far too good to keep off the field for Tyler Algier even in the short to medium term, making him a dynasty lock for workhorse status.

Insight page
PositiveRole47:30

The source believes Love's skill set is too good to keep off the field long-term despite Tyler Algier's current role. While not expecting an 80-85% snap share workhorse role this year, the source sees that as a clear career trajectory for Love. The improved Cardinals offense and competitive positioning should incentivize Arizona to get Love on the field more, especially if the team is in a playoff race.

Insight page
PositiveProjection47:30

The source projects Love as a top 12 running back within four to six weeks as he recovers from ankle injury and acclimate to the NFL. The source is very optimistic on Love's skill set and expects a gradual upswing in production over the season.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup49:16

The source was impressed with how the Cardinals offense operated in Week 1, noting the offense looked sharper than expected and was well-adapted to personnel deployment. This functional offense should help Love's upside by end of year, as the offense can sustain plays and drives, creating more touchdown expectation and incentivizing Arizona to get Love on the field more if the team remains competitive.

Insight page

Jordan James

NegativeDepth Chart34:12

Jordan James is not the RB2 for his team; Kalen Black has taken that role, confirming James is behind Black on the depth chart.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeRole24:00

Used as comparison point in hypothetical scenario; source states if both Kyron Williams and Ken Walker went down, would start Emmett Johnson over Blake Corum, implying Williams is a lead back whose injury would create opportunity.

Insight page

Makai Lemon

PositiveRole53:42

Lemon had 73 yards in Week 1, which was 78 more than Don Tavian Wicks, but the source notes the Eagles had just one plan for Lemon: bubble screen to death, which was very predictable and resulted in him getting blown up for losses twice. The source is bearish on Lemon's near-term outlook and was skeptical in the rookie expectations episode about whether Lemon would be out there in three-receiver sets until a good chunk of the way through the season. However, the source notes Lemon's upside is that he's having a worse start than Eli Stowers (who was put on IR), meaning the Eagles will likely run plenty of three-receiver sets, and the source believes in Lemon's talent and is willing to buy on the dip.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeRole49:16

The source notes that the Cardinals offense operated well for everybody not named Marvin Harrison Jr., suggesting Harrison Jr. was the primary focus of the offense in Week 1.

Insight page

Mike Washington Jr.

NegativeRole19:00

Washington looked great in week one with 5.86 yards per carry, good yards before contact, and low stuff rate, benefiting from the same Vegas offensive environment that helped Ashton Jente. However, the source views him primarily as a premier handcuff rather than a standalone starter because Jente looked fantastic and showed no signs of deserving reduced work. Washington had no carries inside the five and only a 9.7 route share with no targets, limiting independent value. He is best viewed as a contingent play to vacuum work if Jente gets injured.

Insight page
NegativeRole21:47

Source mentions Washington as a handcuff comparison point, noting Emmett Johnson is 'a guy that I trust to play in all high value touch situations' even more than Mike Washington, suggesting Washington has more limited role flexibility.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

NegativeProjection46:28

The source was not impressed with Diggs' Week 1 performance, noting he looked a little slow and a little cooked. Despite getting 36% of crossers and very easy targets over the middle from Gene Daniels, the source projects him as a 10-11 point per game player unless an injury occurs or he carves out a bigger role. This projection is notably downbeat given Diggs' pedigree, and the source suggests Antonio Williams could eat into his slot usage if Williams continues providing explosive plays that Diggs may not deliver at this stage of his career.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

NegativeMatchup45:24

McLaurin didn't do anything in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The source notes that most X receivers won't do much against the Eagles this season, suggesting a difficult matchup environment for outside receivers.

0:00Well, it's official. Week 1 has come and gone, and of course, we have lots to talk about in terms of the 2026 rookie class.
0:08Dynasty Points is here for our weekly rookie report.
0:11So much to talk about. If you like videos like this, make sure to hit the subscribe button, like, and leave a
0:19comment at the end of the video. We'd love to hear from you.
0:23Sit back and relax. This is Dynasty Points, and it starts right now.
0:27Hello, everybody. Welcome back to Dynasty Points, our small corner of the Dynasty Fantasy Football landscape.
0:33Happy you are here with us. If you are new to the channel, thanks for joining us.
0:38If you're returning, welcome back. Jacob Sanderson, I'm your host, Thomas Tipple.
0:42Ryan Heath can't join us this week. He is busy with the everything report.
0:47Be on the lookout for that at fantasypoints.com. But Jacob, that doesn't mean we don't have a ton to talk about.
0:54You and I were talking in the DMs yesterday as we were trying to put this show together in a way that
1:01was best for our viewers and our listeners and loyal subscribers.
1:05And I was having a hard time really digesting this rookie class.
1:09I was very disappointed. And I think it was simply because I'm so down on this class.
1:14I was blinded a little bit by some of the performances in what was, I believe, the highest scoring week one ever.
1:22Maybe I think we were a field goal away.
1:25I think the courtesy kneel. I think Ryan Paganetti said the courtesy kneel by Kansas City removed us from the record.
1:32Yeah, we did 42 going into Monday night, and I guess they got 41.
1:36That's right. The kneel removed it. But with such a high scoring week one, I really expected more rookie performances that really popped off.
1:44And we're going to talk about a few performances that stood out, some that we might be fading a little bit situationally.
1:52But there's a little more juice than I thought initially.
1:55So I'm excited to dive into this. I wanted to first kind of ask you, though, how do you how do you
2:02go through these performances and not overreact? Because I want to overreact to a couple.
2:07You know, maybe I'm underreacting to a few. But how do you just digest week one for dynasty managers that might be
2:14ready to pull some triggers too quickly? Well, it depends on which direction I guess we're talking about overreacting.
2:21I think it's really easy to not overreact to like uninspiring rookie box scores.
2:25You know, to that extent, like I posted in our chat last night, just everyone who's currently going in the first round
2:33or I guess not currently, but everyone who went in the first round of redraft leagues this year and what their week one looked like.
2:41I mean, obviously, this is a massive combination of players from all different draft capitals and situations.
2:47But I just thought it was a fun thing to look at.
2:51Like Jameer Gibbs was a first round pick who played about 25 percent of the snaps behind David Montgomery.
2:57Bijan was in a committee with Tyler Algier, much like another rookie was just in a committee with Tyler Algier.
3:04You know, Jamar Chase, Puka Dukua, immediately awesome. They were like top five wide receivers from from day one.
3:10JSN had three catches for 13 yards in his first game.
3:14Amin Ross St. Brown was a fourth round pick who I don't think played at all or barely did.
3:20CMC had like a very Jeremiah Love-ish like RB2 week in a committee with Jonathan Stewart.
3:25Jonathan Taylor was a total backup. He then became a starter of that game after Marlon Mack tore his Achilles.
3:32And soon after would get benched again for Jordan Wilkins and Naeem Hines.
3:36James Cook was a third stringer who effectively didn't play.
3:39Lamb had like five catches. Cool. Jefferson did nothing.
3:42H.N. was a healthy scratch. Those are your 12 guys.
3:46So like most of the people who are the consensus superstars in the NFL today did absolutely nothing or a little bit
3:53more than nothing in their first ever NFL game.
3:56Um, especially in a class like this where the collective ADP on the rookie class in seasonal leagues was substantially lower than
4:03what it's been in the past couple years. We should have had to calibrate expectations downward.
4:09Um, the highest drafted rookie this year in seasonal leagues was of course Jeremiah Love.
4:14He was going as a mid to late third rounder, especially after suffering his ankle injury.
4:19There was no, you know, Ashton Jenty or Marvin Harrison, um, like there was the last couple of years or B.
4:26John Robinson that we were all drafting to be an immediate week one difference making top 12 option at their position.
4:33Like that's, that's the reality is that Love was drafted as a mid range RB2.
4:38And that's probably with the expectation that he would start slower than that and would eventually close higher than that over the course of the season.
4:47Jameer Price was drafted, um, right on the edge of the top 24 running backs.
4:52Carnell Tate was drafted as a back end wide receiver three and nobody else was drafted as a fantasy starter.
4:58Jordan Tyson is the only one who was at some point.
5:02And he of course then suffered an unfortunate injury and won't be a part of a part of the fantasy discussion for probably close to half the season.
5:11So the initial expectation should be, we're not getting a ton of starting value from rookies overall.
5:17Like I came away probably more positive than negative.
5:20And I guess the, to get all the way back around to the question that you asked me at the beginning, like, how do you avoid overreacting?
5:29Like I said, I think it's pretty easy to not overreact to things in the negative direction.
5:34I kind of expect negative outcomes for rookies in week one.
5:38I guess the challenging thing to me is how far do you go in the positive direction for a couple of the guys who really did stand out?
5:47And we're going to get into those today. And I think probably you just try your best to take a look at
5:55the box score, take a look at the advanced stats, take a look at the film.
6:00And most importantly, I think, try to keep in mind the longer view profile and the team environment and just try to
6:07put it all together and come up with the best take that you kind of can.
6:13I always go through this exercise every year in the intro to the Hitchhiker's Guide after week one, where I kind of
6:20just point out from the previous season, a bunch of equally plausible reactions that went in vastly different ways over the course of the rest of the season.
6:29The reality is, is we can't be very certain.
6:32The best we can be is try to beat the market and try to determine, okay, what's our level of certainty on
6:39a give and take compared to the market's level of certainty and try our best to play the right side of it.
6:47That's a great way to look at it. And you're right.
6:50You want, you want to be open-minded to a lot of the outcomes, but really grounded at the same time in the situations.
6:58And I think situation is very, very important. We're going to break down a couple of that.
7:04Let's, we're going to do this position by position and not a whole lot to talk about at quarterback, but I do want to talk about Mendoza.
7:13He didn't play, but after watching Kubiak cook and Kirk cousins actually provide decent fantasy scoring at the 15.8, I am more
7:20optimistic with Mendoza after seeing the offense operate with somebody as limited as Kirk cousins, who still was responsible for an explosive play.
7:28He was doing it without any real offensive weapons, a mayor though.
7:32Good, not exactly an explosive weapon. Trey Tucker, who was the wide receiver.
7:36They talked about the most, uh, didn't really perform much.
7:39Jack bash scored a touchdown, but it wasn't, it wasn't really an impressive showing from anybody, but Ashton Jente.
7:45But Kirk cousins still provided value. Now, yes, it is Miami and you can say what you will about that, but we're
7:53talking about an offense that really did well in play action.
7:56Kirk cousins, you can see a 0.21 EPA per drop back, uh, obviously play action heavy, but I liked how this offense operated.
8:04And I'm very bullish for someone like Mendoza. A lot of crossers is the most targeted, a lot of in routes, a
8:11lot of targets to the backfield, which obviously we want to see with Jente being the guy.
8:17I think you tweeted that. I think Jente, you said friend, like 60 Texas routes.
8:22Like he was, I think it was like three or four, but it felt like 600 compared to what you're used to seeing.
8:30It was, it was electric. So I am more bullish on Mendoza than maybe I was before after now seeing the offense.
8:37I still think he might be a limited player, but do you have any thoughts on the Vegas offense in general?
8:44What we saw from Kirk cousins and how you expect Mendoza to perform here?
8:49Because again, I'm very much into this. I agree with you.
8:52It was kind of the best case scenario for Fernando Mendoza, where I feel like everything that wasn't Kirk cousins looked excellent.
9:00Um, and the only issue was Kirk cousins, right?
9:03Like he threw two horrendous interceptions and he looked pretty immobile and uncomfortable at times moving around and executing the various bootlegs.
9:10And every other aspect of the offense to me looked great.
9:13Um, in particular, you know, everything to do with Ashton Jente in the run game, Clint Kubiak, man, like he's the way
9:21he used, you know, I think I said this to Scott, uh, cause he was in my replies about some of the Ken Walker stuff.
9:29Like I'm very happy that Clint Kubiak is where he is, but the running back he's with of the Ken Walker's where he is with the coaching staff.
9:38He's with like, clearly that combination was bad, but I'm happy with how it all worked out because everything Kubiak does in
9:46designing an efficient run game, the way that Ryan's brought this up before in articles, but the way he's been able to
9:53boost yards before contact for running backs at every stop he's ever been in, uh, was huge.
9:59Like the offensive line looked so improved with Kubiak coaching it and Linderbaum in at center and Colton Miller back at left
10:06tackle, uh, and no longer having Pete Carroll's nepotism son coach up the unit.
10:11I thought that the run game looked fantastic. The usage of Jente was like so bullish for Jente himself, but I just
10:18think bullish about the offense in general, like the variety of ways that he was used in the past game.
10:25You mentioned the Texas routes, but there was a slot screen at one point.
10:29There was that second touchdown that he had, which was like on a play action leak out of the backfield.
10:36There was a, at one point he was lined up running a choice route out of a bunch formation from the slot, which was super cool.
10:44Just like the level of intentionality in realizing, okay, this is the best player on our offense.
10:50We're going to use him in all these different creative and advantageous ways.
10:54Like that makes me really excited for what it's going to look like when Brock Bowers is back in the offense.
11:01And what are the different ways that they're going to utilize him as another really unique matchup piece in their offense?
11:08Um, this is clearly a guy who is putting in the work of designing interesting schemes around his most interesting players.
11:15And I love to see that as someone who's potentially investing in the offense.
11:20So I totally agree. I don't know when exactly we see Mendoza.
11:24They seem committed to some degree to, you know, making him sit and learn and all of that.
11:30But I definitely think that, uh, there's nothing to be excited about from Kirk Cousins play.
11:35And there's a lot to be excited about in the surrounding environment.
11:39And so maybe we see him sooner and it probably looks pretty decent.
11:44Yeah, I think, I think, you know, that perfectly.
11:47We didn't really get to obviously see a lot of neutral pass rate stuff, but I think we have enough history on
11:54Kubiak to kind of know how that's going to go.
11:57But I mean, success rates positive in the EPA per drop back with Kirk Cousins has me feeling pretty, pretty good about
12:04Mendoza when he actually does get into the game.
12:07Let's move to running back. We have a lot more to discuss than we do with the quarterbacks, but I think we
12:15should start off with possibly the most frustrating in terms of the situation, regardless of how good he looked.
12:21And it's Jadarian Price, which I, it's come to my attention that that is how he introduced himself.
12:27I thought I was getting Mario Todd in, in a very one guy situation, but no, apparently it is Jadarian Price.
12:34So, uh, I w I was definitely thrown off on that broadcast, but let's talk about this.
12:40We obviously we're recording this episode on Tuesday, because we've got to watch Ken Walker go absolutely insane on the Monday.
12:47And it makes us dream of Jadarian Price getting the bell cow workload.
12:51But Jacob, you talked about on the long view with Ben Gretch, kind of a, a step-by-step breakdown of how frustrating these patterns can be.
12:59But you and I were both bullish. He looked very explosive.
13:03He looked very good. Um, but again, they just seem committed to rotating these backs towards the goal line.
13:09Um, let's talk about Jadarian Price. I will just say I was more impressed with his pass catching than I was with the rushing.
13:17Cause I expected an explosive type runner, but he made that one catch on the sideline and got absolutely rocked, held onto the ball.
13:25I was very impressed with that. Where are you with price?
13:29And do you ever think we're going to get away from this committee frustration?
13:33Yeah, I, I don't know. I mean, is the ultimate answer, but I guess I've been a little bit surprised at the degree of negative sentiment on price.
13:43I, I understand that all of the Seahawks stuff last year was super aggravating.
13:47Um, I guess to me, like if you're prior is that the Seahawks are just destined to use one running back in
13:55this kind of trap back role where they're the lead back, but they don't get the passive work.
14:01They don't get the short yardage and that's what it's going to be no matter who the backs are.
14:07And another back or multiple backs are going to vacuum up the high value touches.
14:12Like if that's your prior, then, then like, you know, I, I, price just probably should never be, never have been in your consideration set.
14:20Um, because I don't really know how one game, especially when it's the first game of a rookie's career would ever be
14:28enough to like dramatically shift you onto, okay, well, this is just what it's going to be for life.
14:34Like, I think clearly that sentiment is baking in a lot of leftover frustration from the 2025 season.
14:40And I get the reason for that frustration, but I think if you were that firm, that that was how it was
14:47going to be, you know, even though that was a Ken Walker, Zach Charbonnet split.
14:52Now we're just mapping that onto a Janarian price and George Halani and Emmanuel Wilson split.
14:57Like that's how certain you were about how they were going to run things like, okay.
15:03But then I guess Janarian price was just never in the cards for you.
15:07I don't really know that we got such affirmative information in week one, most rookies, you know, barely play in, in week one, most rookie running backs.
15:16You would be pretty thrilled to have played as the lead back, the starter, even against admittedly very suspect backfield competition.
15:23If this role sticks, he's going to be, yeah, I mean, kind of tough to trust beyond what Walker was last year,
15:31which was like a, a low end RB to flex play who has a chance to be a top 15 running back.
15:38If, and when he hits an explosive long touchdown and otherwise it's really tough because you're only getting a couple targets a
15:45week and you're, you're not getting a ton of carries.
15:49You're not getting the goal line stuff. So I think the plan is just, okay, do, do the Seahawks view price the
15:56same way that they viewed Walker, which was a guy that they needed to limit for whatever reason, whether that was injury or like success rate issues.
16:05I'm not really sure, but they view them the same way.
16:08Is it a philosophical commitment or is the guy that they went and drafted in the first round someone they potentially want to score touchdowns for them?
16:17Like, I think it's at least plausible that it's the latter.
16:21So I was really impressed with how price looked, uh, got a ton of chances to operate the outside zone scheme.
16:28I thought looked great. He had, um, reps where he cut it back up inside really impressively perhaps free stayed on lane
16:35reps where he bounced it all the way, way around the edge.
16:39Like I thought he looked super comfortable, even more comfortable than he did in that scheme at Notre Dame.
16:46So all in all, I think more good than bad for price.
16:50As long as you have the priors that this is like a team that's capable of giving high value touches to their starting running back.
16:58And I guess we'll see. I think it's important to note that the, uh, the short yardage touches to George Helani and Emmanuel Wilson went terribly.
17:07They didn't convert any of them. Yes. Yeah, it was, it was not good.
17:11We're talking about a negative, uh, sorry, we're talking about a negative, uh, 20, well, a 27, a 0.268 EPA for Helani.
17:19Uh, and I don't even want to look up Wilson just cause I know it's not good.
17:24It's not good at all. And I think the goal line stuff is a little frustrating.
17:29We had Wilson come in. Um, they had subbed Wilson in, then they got the penalty at the goal line because, uh,
17:37um, lock had to check his play sheet. If kind of forgot the call, I think that they ended up, um, getting a penalty.
17:45Then price came back out. Uh, then he ended up kicking a field goal, but I think that's a little frustrating, but
17:52Ryan Heath did tweet out, uh, as I put on the screen here, highest week one snap rates for a rookie running back.
18:00Since the fantasy points data suite came into existence and he is the highest ever.
18:05I'm bullish on the role improving. I think that we should be, but I also think that, uh, if you direct, like
18:12you mentioned, like price just wasn't for you. I think if you went up and drafted price with the one Oh two,
18:19simply because you thought this wasn't a possibility. I think that is where the mistake was made, but I think that there is a clear pathway to improve.
18:29I'm not very high on Charbonnet. I'm definitely not high on Helani.
18:33And I think this Wilson stuff was purely just week one Wednesday type stuff.
18:37I think he definitely impressed. He impressed with me.
18:40I've moved him up my rankings actually, uh, just based off of week one.
18:45So, uh, very happy with that. Let's talk about another running back.
18:49From this weekend. And he, he looks good too.
18:52It definitely sucks that some of these rookies got, um, put behind stud players.
18:56Cause I think Mike Washington was fairly impressive as well.
19:00Um, obviously the 5.86 yards per carry is really good.
19:03The low stuff, uh, rate was really good. The yards after, uh, yards before contact, obviously good.
19:09I think the scheme really helps him, but I thought he looked pretty good as a player.
19:14Definitely should be rostered as a, a handcuff specifically, but Mike Washington, let's talk about him.
19:20Yeah, I thought he looked great. I mean, I think he's benefiting from a lot of the same environmental, uh, positives that
19:27we mentioned when we're talking about Ashton Gentry, we're talking about Fernando Mendoza.
19:31I mean, I guess the downside on Mike Washington is if you were hoping that he was going to make this like
19:39a, a true committee, uh, you probably wanted Ashton Gentry to either miss this game with the ankle injury or to not look as fantastic as he did.
19:48Uh, I mean, Washington, I, I work, I think we're going to talk about Emmett Johnson soon too.
19:54I think there's, there's similarities in the Washington kind of did all that he could do.
19:59And I'm really excited about him as a contingent play, but I didn't see anything from Ashton Gentry that suggests he's worthy of less work.
20:08So I don't think you're starting Mike Washington anytime that Ashton Gentry is healthy based on how fantastic he looked in week
20:15one, but purely as a contingent play as like a player to vacuum.
20:19I liked what I saw to Mike Washington and I like him being in this scheme.
20:24That's for sure. Yeah. He's moved to premier handcuff territory for me, pretty much exclusively the hope of like, uh, the independent
20:32value or startability factor, I think isn't really there.
20:35Uh, no carries inside the five and only a 9.7 route share, no targets under 20% of the snaps.
20:41But when he did get on the field, he looked good.
20:45That to me is very handcuff like. So if you can sell off of that and, and benefit in terms of 27
20:52draft capital, I would, I would consider, but it definitely feels like you're, you were right in that you needed Gentry to,
20:59to kind of not play this week. But apparently this prayer circle needed ankle was just him being perfectly fine.
21:06So shout out Vegas for that name with the Bauer stuff, truly diabolical.
21:10Uh, but you're right. We are going to talk about another handcuff type player in, uh, Emmett.
21:16Sorry. We are going to talk about another handcuff type player in Emmett Johnson, who obviously got a little bit more work
21:23because of the score of the Broncos chiefs game on Monday night.
21:27But I mean, he looked, he looked truly incredible.
21:30Um, Emmett Johnson, Jacob, what are your thoughts? You're muted.
21:34Sorry. I was unmuted. Uh, he looked absolutely phenomenal.
21:37Um, was a really positive outcome for Emmett Johnson.
21:40This was a guy that for most of the summer, you know, we were curious, could even win the number two job
21:47or would it be the kind of the veteran Amari Di Mercado had a really strong summer, really strong preseason to earn
21:54that job and wound up starting the second drive of the game.
21:58I mean, obviously that was after Ken Walker caught, I think seven carries on the first drive of the game, but started
22:05the first, uh, started that second drive stayed on for a third down when he played, which was obviously far less than Kenneth Walker played.
22:14He played in all game situations. So to me, the bet on Emmett Johnson was always a little bit more of him
22:21being a very, very premier handcuff who even more than Mike Washington is a guy that I trust to play in all high value touch situations.
22:30If, and when he would ever have the chance at a lead role, you know, I think there were some concerns from his college profile in terms of.
22:39Can a guy who's kind of smaller, slower, doesn't have as many of the elite, like per touch advanced metrics that some
22:46of the guys who've succeeded like this and Aaron Jones, a Bucky Irving, even in Devin Singletary had coming out of college.
22:54Is this a guy that a team would draft high enough to have a featured role?
22:59You know, that made me a little bit nervous about him pre-draft, but sliding all the way to day three, going to
23:06a spot where he is, unfortunately for him, a pretty clear cut number two, he has everything that I want in a handcuff.
23:14And I mean, I don't think we're going to get the payoff for a long time because Ken Walker looks pretty phenomenal.
23:21But the more I've seen it of Emmett Johnson, the more I'm curious of whether this is a starter level NFL talent.
23:28I've continued to get more and more impressed by him the more that I've watched.
23:33So, you know, right now he's a handcuff, not startable, but Ken Walker is not a picture of health.
23:40I mean, I can't say enough positive things about how he looked last night, like franchise transforming free agent signing for the Kansas City Chiefs.
23:48But if he gets hurt and historically, when you give Ken Walker this type of workload, it's not a terrible bet that
23:55he will get hurt at some point. Emmett looks like he would be, I mean, I made the hot take in the Hitchhiker's Guide today.
24:04I think he is the number one handcuff in the entire NFL already.
24:08That includes Blake Corum. Like if Kyron Williams and Ken Walker went down tomorrow and I could only start one of Emmett
24:15Johnson or Blake Corum, I would start Emmett Johnson.
24:18He is a better all around fantasy archetype than Corum, who is much more of a two down player.
24:25Like I think Johnson was remarkably impressive. I really liked the profile very in.
24:29I wish that he had like some sort of path you could sell yourself on of how he gets a starting job before like 2028 or 2029.
24:38So it's hard because if you have him, like what would you let him go for?
24:43Right. You're not going to just let him go for third, obviously.
24:47You're probably not even going to let him go for like a low value second.
24:52And what are you going to trade for a guy that has no plausible path to standalone value?
24:58I wouldn't trade, you know, more than an assuredly late second for that.
25:03So it's a tough spot to value him in Dynasty, but I'm super, super excited about him.
25:08Yeah. Where I was selling Washington for say a 27 second, I just feel so much different about Emmett Johnson and what he could provide.
25:17Now there was some stuff kind of underlying that maybe you'd like to see some improvement on the rushing yards over expectation
25:24was in a negative 7.4, but his EPA added was a point that were really, really solid, really strong.
25:30And I think Denver just probably one of the worst tackling performances I might have ever seen.
25:36I think somebody said it was one of the worst for missed tackles in a game ever since it was really recorded.
25:43So maybe that was a part of it. But again, we want players attached to good offenses.
25:49I'm not selling Emmett Johnson the same way that I was selling my Washington because again, I just think there's not only
25:56more to the profile, but maybe more meat on the bone.
26:00Like you said, he's the number one handcuff in football and I'm completely with you there.
26:05Let's talk about Jeremiah love because we were putting the show together and I genuinely had to read multiple times that Tyler
26:12Algier had as many touches as he did. It was honestly staggering to me that he had 17 carries, which you hate to see that.
26:21But I also think it was a product of they were in the lead for a lot of that game and maybe
26:28didn't actually want to kill their superstar running back.
26:31Like they decided to do in the preseason. I don't know.
26:35Feels a little more time-share-ish than I would like it to be.
26:39But overall, you have to feel really good about the consensus 101 of this rookie class.
26:44Yeah, I thought love's film was absolutely phenomenal. I was overall like reasonably encouraged by the usage.
26:50I was benching him in a lot of places, frankly, this week just based off of the high ankle and, you know,
26:57in conjunction with all the talk that they wanted to use a lot of Algier.
27:02And I mean, I, like pretty much everyone else, expected the Cardinals to get their doors blown off by the Chargers in
27:09this spot and was quite surprised that they won this game.
27:13And I was envisioning, you know, it's the second half.
27:16They're down by multiple touchdowns. And how many touches are they going to give to this back that they just invested so
27:23much in coming off a high ankle sprain? So I was not that surprised by the committee.
27:29I was really impressed by, again, just how he looked in and out of his cots coming off an ankle injury.
27:36Super impressive. Both him and JT. I mean, and then Mahomes on Monday night off the ACL.
27:42Injuries, I guess they just don't matter anymore. People, like everybody's on the good peptides.
27:47You can have a high ankle sprain. You could tear your ACL.
27:51You could tear your Achilles. Doesn't matter. Everybody's fine.
27:54Bizarre. Algier's role, like, is what it is. That's what I was going to ask.
27:59I thought it was a pretty, I thought it was a pretty even split.
28:03That Algier really didn't pull away from until the kind of closer touches at the very end of the game.
28:10Until that, they were pretty even on touches. I mean, love getting a touchdown from, I think it was the four-yard line.
28:17That's pretty bullish. It's not like they are exclusively using Tyler Algier near the goal line.
28:23I think that would be the most annoying, like, potential outcome for him as a rookie season.
28:28You know, this being a dynasty show, the Tyler Algier stuff is pretty immaterial to me.
28:34Like, at some point in time, Jeremiah Love is obviously going to be a workhorse NFL back.
28:39He looks as advertised as one of the best players in the league immediately.
28:44So, whether that happens in week two or week six or week ten matters to me very little.
28:50In terms of expectations for this season, I still feel like the Jeremiah Love skill set is far too good to keep
28:57off the field for Tyler Algier, even in the short to medium term.
29:01I would guess that he is a top 12 projected play at the running back position within four to six weeks, probably.
29:09And I think it will just be a gradual kind of upswing from here as he gets further away from the ankle
29:16injury and just more acquitted into the National Football League.
29:19So, I'm very optimistic on Love. Algier is fine.
29:22You know, he's a quality adult NFL running back.
29:25History is littered with very talented rookies who start as a 1B to players like Algier, make it even pretty fast, get to 1A pretty fast after that.
29:35And, you know, do I think we're going to see him as like an 80 to 85% snap share workhorse?
29:41Probably not this year. But, like, I think very clearly, you know, in his career, that's something that's going to happen.
29:48Yeah, and I think I was very impressed overall with just how the Cardinals offense operated for everybody not named Marvin Harrison Jr.
29:56I don't know where Bourne just kind of they decided that he was the guy to run the offense through.
30:03But overall, I was more surprised with the offense in general in Arizona than I think I was expecting to be.
30:09I don't know if that's just a reflection of maybe how bad the Chargers defense might be for this year.
30:16But I really just felt the way they deployed their players in Arizona was a lot sharper.
30:22I know a lot of the knock on Jeremiah Love heading into the season for seasonal purposes was that the offense wasn't projected to do much.
30:30And so it might limit his upside. But if this offense is functional and really adapted to the personnel that they have
30:38and really highlighting their key players, which I felt like they were for the most part, his upside by the end of
30:45the year is really going to shoot up. So if somebody is out there and very concerned with the box score numbers
30:52for Algier, I'm very open to putting out some really early season feelers on Jeremiah Love.
30:58Because like you said, I don't think that workload really improved significantly for a couple of weeks yet.
31:04So not worried about Algier. I again, I just had to read that multiple times for that to really sink in because
31:11I really didn't believe it at first. But I thought Arizona looked way better than advertised.
31:16Yeah, that's going to help Love in two big ways.
31:20I mean, first is just there'll be more touchdown expectation for the offense.
31:24They'll be able to sustain plays and drives. But I also think that the more competitive they are this year, the more
31:31incentivized they are to get Love on the field as much as possible.
31:35There's been a lot of talk about, you know, could Arizona just kind of limit Love's workload all of this year to
31:43save some tread on the tire for future years when they're looking to be more competitive?
31:48I think Albert Breer had a report out that was along those lines.
31:52I'm always really skeptical that that's actually how NFL teams think.
31:56I think that usually that kind of stuff is cool for media figures and fantasy analysts to talk about and maybe even
32:03teams to think about in the offseason. Usually, once it gets to game day, they're just trying to win kind of regardless
32:11of what their record is or what their team situation is.
32:14But if there is any credence to that, that goes away if they actually are more like a 500 team and less
32:22like one of the worst teams in the league.
32:25So, you know, if you're in a playoff race and you're trying to win playoff games, like I love you, Tyler Algier.
32:32I think you're a decent player, but you're not Jeremiah Love.
32:36And that's the guy they're going to want to get on the field more often.
32:41Yeah, I definitely agree. Let's talk about another committee back that had people kind of stirring about Christian McCaffrey and his outlook on the season.
32:49Kalen Black debuted this week. Thought he did pretty well given his opportunities.
32:53But diving into it a little bit more in the Data Suite 2.0, it really was, hey, we're leading.
32:59Let's get you out there. If you look at his snaps by down, if you look at his snaps by personnel, it
33:07really was just the, we need a run here.
33:10We're not giving this to Christian. We are up early.
33:13And so you're out there. I believe you tweeted about how we're moving certain touches from McCaffrey.
33:19Still would have had him. So I don't recall the tweet offhand, but you'll know it better than I will.
33:25I am not worried about Kalen Black taking away from McCaffrey, but I'm also not buying this idea that he is some
33:33playable top tier must add type player. Maybe not even an elite handcuff per se because the targets weren't there.
33:39It didn't feel like that's how they wanted to use them at all.
33:44I think they were more comfortable with Debo kind of taking that role away when McCaffrey wasn't on the field, giving where
33:51he lined up and the snaps and the targets and how that worked out for them.
33:56It feels like Debo is kind of right back into that role from where he left off.
34:02So let's talk about Kalen Black. I was not as impressed as the Dynasty community seemed to be with him.
34:09Where do you sit? Yeah, probably similar to you.
34:12I mean, I'll definitely be moving him up in my next update for sure.
34:16I mean, the question kind of coming into the season was, would he even be the RB2 or would it be Jordan James?
34:24He's obviously the RB2, led the team in carries.
34:27So that's great. And the usage is super bullish.
34:30I thought he was, yeah, not like quite as amazing as I felt like a lot of people were leaving him up to be.
34:38I have my issues with RYOE as a stat.
34:41I do think it's always notable when a player is efficient in yards per carry but has negative RYOE.
34:47That was the case with Kalen Black. I thought he ran into contact on occasion.
34:52I think he's going to clearly have a role.
34:55I would guess, though, like, it kind of reminds me a little bit of the DeAndre Swift-Kyle-Mannunguy stuff last year where a
35:02lot of times people see the rookie bigger role than expected.
35:06They assume it's just going to keep getting bigger and bigger like we talked about with Price or talked about with Love.
35:13I would guess that if anything, his role gets smaller over the course of the season or stays the same.
35:20I don't think it's going to get bigger. Christian McCaffrey was not a very effective rusher last year.
35:26I understand that. He was still one of the most dynamic offensive players in the NFL in terms of what he can do in the passing game.
35:35And he actually looked really great as a rusher in his opportunities in Week 1.
35:40So in order for McCaffrey to do everything he can do in the passing game, you need to be able to hand
35:47him the ball at least a decent amount of the time.
35:51Otherwise, the defense isn't going to respect that you're going to hand the ball off to him when he's in there.
35:58And then it becomes a lot less valuable in the receiving game.
36:02So McCaffrey is still, I think, going to see at least half the carries even between the 20s.
36:08And he saw all of the carries inside of the 10.
36:11So I view Black as like a, you know, between the 20s carries only type of play, which is just not fantasy viable.
36:19It's kind of similar to what Blake Horm's role is with Kyron Healthy.
36:23And I just have a longer sample on Corum.
36:26I have a higher view of him from a college perspective.
36:30And he's done this now over a year plus.
36:33So I'm not going to go ahead and put Kalen Black into the Blake Horm tier of handcuffs yet.
36:39That's probably the upside. And who knows? You know, is this their running back of a future post McCaffrey?
36:46Maybe. I wouldn't race there probably quite yet. But I'm higher on Black.
36:50But like, again, similar to Emmett, similar to Mike Washington.
36:53Like, I don't really see a path to sustainable standalone value.
36:57And so I'm not giving up meaningful dynasty assets for contingent value running backs.
37:02The time to add contingent value running backs is in rookie drafts in the third round.
37:07And then you just kind of sit on them and you play them when there's running backs ahead of you that get hurt.
37:14But you don't go out and trade meaningful assets for contingent value running backs.
37:19Yeah, this was your tweet. If you took away every Christian McCaffrey carry that didn't result in a touchdown, 301 carries vanishing
37:26into thin air, CMC would have scored 70.4 PPR points per game.
37:30You mentioned his seasonal round one price. It really just shows to me that I don't think San Francisco values the touches
37:38that the fantasy community was valuing for Caitlin Black.
37:41And that stands out to me. He's a very what do you win when you win.
37:46If you win and you guess right and he has that lead handcuff rule there, you get, I don't know, Jordan Mason?
37:53Like, it's just that's not something that truly excites me.
37:57So I would be looking to sell off of whatever hype it feels like.
38:01Not really an explosive run. Not really a big play generator here.
38:05I actually thought he left a lot of meat on the bone, like you mentioned.
38:10So we are in lockstep with that. And last one I kind of want to talk about just because it was a
38:18player I was very into in the pre-draft process.
38:21All memes aside and jokes about the fat man nickname.
38:24But Catron Allen found himself on the field. And the reason I want to talk about this is maybe why he was
38:31on the field is what's noticeable to me. I had to go back and look.
38:36But Ja'Cory Krosky-Meritt had some fumbling issues. With a chance to win the game, Washington decided to put the rookie on the field.
38:44I probably would have went with Rashad White personally in that situation.
38:48But they gave him a carry in that situation to try to win the game.
38:53Now, obviously, he didn't really do much with his opportunity.
38:5614 yards, four attempts. He did force one missed tackle.
38:59Only 10% of the snaps to the game. But I think that signals that there might be a runway for him that
39:07maybe we thought would take a little longer or potentially an injury.
39:11If the coaching staff is willing to, in week one, sit a guy who, as much crap as I give Ja'Cory Krosky-Meritt,
39:18he was pretty good in this game. He looked explosive.
39:21He looked like he fit the role well that they were working him in for.
39:26But they were very quick to pull the trigger on sitting him in a potentially game-winning scenario.
39:32That, to me, is what matters here. I think the Rashad White role is pretty cemented.
39:37They're not going to be taking him off the field, let's say.
39:41But Katron Allen has at least an opportunity here.
39:44He should be on the very much paying attention to list.
39:48Maybe not on my immediate buy list. But that was my takeaway from seeing Katron Allen around that two-minute mark.
39:54What did you feel with Katron? Yeah, I agree.
39:57I'm definitely going to try and pick out the pace here since we've got our live show coming up.
40:04But I wrote about this backfield in the Hitchhiker's Guide.
40:07I thought it was interesting how it all played out sequentially.
40:11They started off with a pretty even split between JCM and Rashad White.
40:15I thought JCM earned more touches as the game went on by just, frankly, looking better.
40:20And we saw Rashad White's role that kind of started playing more on early downs, getting more carries to mostly just playing
40:28in passing situations over the course of the game.
40:31Katron got his first two snaps in the third quarter before this JCM fumble.
40:35He came on, he got a carry, it was whatever.
40:39I thought the most important play of the game for Katron Allen was the second down.
40:44They see a rookie in there. Eagles bring a blitz.
40:47Katron had a masterful blitz pickup on that second down carry.
40:51I thought that earned him a lot of goodwill with the coaching staff that will not soon be forgotten.
40:57Then it's third down. Rashad White comes in. We don't hear from Katron again until, as you mentioned, JCM fumbles on what is potentially the game-tying drive.
41:06Washington recovers the fumble. Nonetheless, it's punishment time for Krosky Merritt.
41:10And him, it was Katron who played as the rusher for the rest of that drive, and White mixed in on passing plays.
41:17They didn't give White a carry, though. So, yeah, I thought that was really meaningful that they seemed to kind of sour
41:25on White's ball-in-hand ability throughout the course of the game.
41:28Obviously, they were upset with JCM over the fumble.
41:31I thought that they still clearly liked what he was providing up until that point.
41:36My expectation for next week is that JCM will still be the pretty clear leader of the committee.
41:42I think, like, all in all, he was by far the most impressive of the three players with the ball in his hands.
41:50But I definitely think whatever goodwill JCM created over the course of the game with his rushing ability, he certainly forfeited a lot of it with that fumble.
41:59So I suspect it to be JCM lead back.
42:02Rashad White passing down back. Katron will mix in a little probably next week.
42:07Probably a little earlier than he did in week one.
42:10But I think JCM will have a short leash.
42:13If that ball comes out again, you know, or we see a massive missed blitz pickup, or, like, any sort of mistake
42:20from JCM next week, then the talent versus mistake spectrum can start to tilt pretty quick.
42:26And I think it was notable that they seemed to want to put the ball in Katron's hands over White's hands at the end of the game.
42:35Yeah, I'm definitely with you. Let's quickly move to wide receiver.
42:38And there's only a couple here that I really want to talk about or feel that we have enough time to give the proper amount of attention to.
42:47One of them, we're staying in this game. We're going to start off with Antonio Williams, one of my favorites in the
42:55process, one of my favorite second round picks. I wish I had the opportunity to have more of him, but I just
43:02did not have a ton of second round picks in this class.
43:06I traded them a lot for fat running backs that are very slow, but 10 point scores.
43:12And maybe I regret that a little bit now.
43:15But let's talk about Antonio Williams because he is a priority buy for me.
43:19He's not just somebody that I'm casually looking into.
43:22I'm very into Antonio Williams. I thought the way he was deployed was masterful.
43:27I think if I am Stefan Diggs, I'm going to start paying attention to my slot snaps.
43:33I think he was a matchup nightmare. Tons of explosive.
43:366.25 yard per route run from the slot is so promising.
43:40They gave him so many routes that are very easily targetable.
43:43Very bullish on the usage here. What were your thoughts on Antonio Williams?
43:48And of course, I mean, he caught the touchdown that put him in a position to tie the game.
43:54Yeah, on a terrible route, by the way. He drifted like two yards upfield and then he barely caught it.
44:01Outside of that play, which was the almost game-tying touchdown that I thought was his worst rep, where if he just runs
44:08the route flat to the pylon like you're supposed to, it's a very easy catch.
44:13And then he almost doesn't catch it because he drifts way too far upfield.
44:17And everybody was saying, Gene Daniels made a bad throw.
44:21So that aside, I thought Williams looked really great and ran only 11 routes.
44:25Was super productive. Had four catches on four targets on those routes.
44:29Had a really great one. The one in the, I believe it was in the first half that led to the JCM rushing touchdown.
44:37That was, I thought, an outstanding rapper. He's matched up with Cooper DeGene.
44:42Fakes to the outside. Swings back on the inside on a skinny post.
44:46Almost scores on that one. I think he was tackled like the half-yard line.
44:51So really bullish start for Antonio Williams. In terms of trading stuff, like he is a buy for me, but I'm not going over the top.
44:59Like I wouldn't be spending a one or anything on this guy.
45:03And then again, how do you trade for some of these players if you're not willing to spend a one?
45:10I guess what I would say is he's still pretty clearly, I mean, he was fourth on the wide receiver depth chart in this game.
45:18He played far less snaps than Deami Brown. I think that's going to change real fast.
45:24See you, Deami Brown. But he's still going to be, I think, a clear third in the pecking order behind Terry McLaurin, Stefan Diggs.
45:31I know McLaurin didn't do anything in this game.
45:34I don't think that most X receivers are going to do much against the Philadelphia Eagles this season.
45:40And I would guess that we see probably some regression back from running red hot on a very limited role that he
45:48had in this game before we eventually see more of a takeoff later in the season.
45:53That accounts for some of the early efficiency he's showed.
45:56So I would guess that you will have opportunities to buy in not coming off of quite as hot of a performance.
46:04So I'm labeling him as a buy. I'm into this player.
46:07I liked him as a prospect. But just don't go crazy and send a one or anything for him.
46:14You probably have opportunities to buy hopefully cheaper if just in the natural course of variance, we don't see him run this red hot early in the season.
46:23I still think he's probably capped for most of this year as the wide receiver three.
46:28I was not impressed with what I saw from Stefan Diggs.
46:32I thought he looked a little slow. I thought he looked a little cooked.
46:37But if we're getting 36% crossers, very easy for him to target.
46:41Jane Daniels, that is over the middle in his opportunities.
46:44Like I could definitely easily see like a 10, 11 point per game type player until maybe an injury happens, unfortunately.
46:51Or he really does start carving out a bigger role.
46:54But in terms of bullish signal, I don't think you could have asked for much more from Antonio Williams.
47:00Especially after Diggs signed there. It was a full stop in the Dynasty community on Williams.
47:06He had two targets inside the 20, which I really, really liked.
47:10A .36 targets per outrun I thought was really, really good.
47:13His win rate is really good. Really liked everything I saw.
47:17The fantasy points plus the expected fantasy points lining up.
47:20That matters to me. He performed as expected in the opportunities given.
47:24I really like this. And we're talking about under 40% of the snaps so far.
47:29Only 31% of the routes. I think he can eat into some of that Stefan Diggs slot usage.
47:35If he continues to provide the explosive plays that maybe Stefan Diggs isn't at this stage of his career.
47:42So that's why he's kind of on the priority by.
47:45You're right. Not sending anything crazy like a first.
47:48But there are some pretty dusty players that I think somebody, a contending team could accept.
47:53Just on name value alone still. I mean, Devontae Adams looked as washed as possible.
47:58But I think that entire Rams team looked as washed as possible.
48:02I definitely think that there's an opportunity to sell off of a bounce back for a high scoring offense like the Rams
48:10for somebody that, like you mentioned, it still has a ways to go to secure that upper tier role.
48:16So I think that there's some buying opportunity still now.
48:19But I think it's going to get much, much harder as we go.
48:23But he was the player I was probably the most bullish on for this week.
48:28Let's talk about two of the top wide receivers.
48:31Then we're going to get out of here. We got to talk about the misery in Tennessee.
48:37Because I've been low on Cam Ward from the jump.
48:40I couldn't have predicted how bad it was in week one.
48:44This is like worse than Will Levis bad in Tennessee.
48:47It was really bad. How bad? Cam Ward was worse than Deshaun Watson from a clean pocket this week.
48:54And if you're on the internet and you see Deshaun Watson and you see how much is being talked about, how bad
49:01he was, worse from a clean pocket is a brutal signal for me with Cam Ward.
49:06And that, of course, affects Carnell Tate. You had some fantastic posts about this game on Twitter.
49:12They had me both laughing and crying. But let's talk about Tate and how you project him moving forward.
49:18Yeah, Carnell Tate gets the Robin Williams Not Your Fault award for this week.
49:23I mean, this was kind of the fear, I think, going into the season is that Carnell Tate is a wide receiver
49:30prospect who is not really the type to get featured on easy button type work.
49:35He's not a yak god. He's not a twitchy slot receiver that you're going to send in motion like Casey Concepcion.
49:42You know, you mentioned Deshaun Watson struggling predictably. Casey is that type of guy who, even in a terrible offense, you're probably
49:49going to scheme enough kind of BS touches to that you'll see flashes.
49:54That's just not really Tate's game. Tate is more of an intermediate, downfield, wide receiver.
49:59And so that makes him environment sensitive. And I suspect, you know, based on what we saw from Cam Ward in week
50:06one, that we're probably not seeing as much of a progression from Cam Ward this season as we would have hoped.
50:13Um, I think that the, I think that the, the clock is really starting to run on Ward who was abysmal, just abysmal in this game.
50:22Everything about the Titans was horrible in this game in at home against the Jets, right?
50:27Like this is, this is one of the few spots all year that you would think, okay, maybe this is a game
50:34where the Titans can look competent, right? We just talked about the, the, the Raiders for a while and the big caveat
50:42on all the Raiders positivity, which is a fair one is yeah, but it was at home against the dolphins.
50:48It's like, well, at least they looked really good at home against the dolphins.
50:53You know, here were the Titans at home against the Jets looking like shit for three hours.
50:59And so, and I mean, some of it is like independent of a part.
51:03I mean, Cam Ward airmailed a screen like five feet over Ty Shakespeare's head from 15 feet away.
51:09And that was earlier in the game. He spiked one like three feet below Ron, Wanda Robinson's feet.
51:15It's like, you can't throw screens dog. I don't really know what's happening here.
51:20So it's just that, uh, it's a mess and it's going to be a mess unless it gets better for Cam Ward.
51:27And with Tate, unfortunately, like all we're going to have to do, I guess, is just kind of mine peripherals unless it gets better.
51:35Because I don't think he's startable in this offense unless Cam Ward looks better and he's looked non-viable for now a season and a game.
51:43And so you have to get seriously concerned when you see that level of rookie season, you get the full off season,
51:51a new coaching staff, a new play caller. And you come out, you look that bad game one against the Jets.
51:58It's really concerning. Well, then what are we going to learn about Carnell Tate?
52:02I don't know. It's going to be probably to me like a Roma Dunse-esque rookie season where we're just not going to get enough information on Carnell Tate.
52:12Um, so, you know, I guess like maybe I would consider selling from that perspective, but I don't really think it's like anything to do with Tate specifically.
52:21I didn't, I didn't see anything that Tate necessarily did wrong.
52:25Um, but I, I'm not very optimistic on his fantasy value this season.
52:29Yeah. And on screen, you can see people have, uh, sent trades today.
52:33We have Garrett Wilson straight up, which I completely understand.
52:36And then of course the big one, Carnell Tate and Javante Williams for Algier, Jameson Williams, a 27, one and a 27, two.
52:44And that second trade is one that I would definitely consider doing.
52:48Uh, gets you a first gets you a second and more than replacement level production than what I would expect from Carnell
52:55Tate, especially in such a consolidated offense in, um, in Detroit.
52:59And of course I never wanted, never thought I'd hear myself say like, give us Mason Rudolph, but like Tennessee, give us
53:06like Mason Rudolph was at least functional for like Calvin Ridley when Calvin Ridley last produced.
53:12Uh, but man, it is bleak in Tennessee. It's bleak for Tate.
53:16This is definitely worst case scenario. I'm probably going to be wanting to buy by week eight or nine.
53:22I think by week eight or nine people are going to be so fed up with the environment.
53:28They're just going to want to get out. That's probably when I'm looking to buy last one.
53:34And the one that confused me the most, and this is another thing that I had to read multiple times when you wrote it.
53:42Uh, he said, Don Tavian Wicks had 73 yards.
53:45You put that 78 more than Makai Lemon. Uh, that is when I say it took me a minute, it took me
53:52a minute to figure out what was really being said here.
53:55It looked to me that the Eagles really had just one plan for Makai Lemon and it was just bubble screen to death.
54:03And it was very predictable when it was coming worst possible run out for him.
54:08Uh, there was already negativity stemming from the preseason.
54:11Where are you at with Lemon? You were very high on him.
54:15This is obviously worst case scenario for him in week one.
54:19Fine. Like, I don't know. It's, I just, I just don't put a lot of stock into like bad rookie performances in, in week one.
54:27Um, he was used a bunch kind of short area.
54:30They wanted to see the ball into his hands.
54:33The screens obviously didn't work. He got blown up for losses twice on them.
54:38Um, I think that the more, the more frustrating thing for this year is that Wicks, looked great.
54:44He's looked great all camp and I'm a Wicks believer.
54:47So I, I'm not, I'm pretty open-minded to the idea that Wicks can just hold down the X receiver role all season long.
54:55Um, I, I'm bearish on Lemon's near-term outlook. Me and Ryan did the rookie expectations episode last week.
55:01I think I said that I, I was skeptical of whether Lemon would be out there in three receiver sets until like
55:08a good chunk of the way through the season.
55:11The upside is, is that, you know, he's having a way worse start to their rookie season than like high lemon, the
55:18twink himself, Eli Stowers, who was put on IR, I think just for sucking.
55:23Um, so they could keep a roster spot. I don't know that he had a very serious injury.
55:29Um, so they were basically only passing at three receiver sets.
55:33Um, and ran plenty of routes, like he's going to run plenty of routes and I believe in the talent.
55:39So I'm happily going to buy, I guess on the Kyle and I don't know that anyone's panic selling after one game,
55:47but I think that the whole two receiver, three receiver set issue looks to be not that much of an issue with
55:54how many three receiver sets they're going to be running in the, the, uh, intentional absence of Eli Stowers.
56:00Yeah. And speaking of Stowers, I, I'm more and more leaning on panicking terms with him because Goddard is just so good.
56:08I'm wondering if they just don't let him leave the building for free.
56:12Like we talk about a lot. So not going to dive into the tight ends too much just for time's sake.
56:19Sadiq obviously looked really fun in how New York tend to use them.
56:23Um, especially with how limited he was all preseason, definitely something to look forward to there.
56:29Just not a whole lot to dive into for tight ends.
56:32So that's going to do it for this week's rookie report here with dynasty points.
