Player insights

35

Aaron Rodgers

NegativeMatchup0:39

Aaron Rodgers is not good enough at throwing deep balls and gets rid of the ball quickly, limiting upside for receivers like DK Metcalf.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

PositiveRole0:04

With Michael Pittman gone, Pierce could get close to seven targets per game in Indianapolis, consolidating targets left behind.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:17

Pierce is a steal at round 7 ADP; if healthy, he would be a round 5 receiver based on his contract and upside, though his injury status has depressed his ADP.

Insight page
PositiveInjury0:17

Pierce had surgery to ensure no issues for training camp and should be fine for the start of the season.

Insight page
PositiveUsage0:18

Pierce has led the NFL in yards per target and yards per catch two straight seasons but has one of the highest ADOTs in the NFL at 17 yards, limiting his target volume to only 84 in 15 games.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:19

Pierce's short-area receiving metrics are poor: 58% catch rate on throws 15 yards or closer, only 1 TD on 36 such targets, 7.4 yards per target, and 0.78 yards per route run, raising questions about his effectiveness in a shorter role.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:20

Pierce was paid like a number one wide receiver and with Michael Pittman gone, the Colts should use him accordingly, likely giving him more short and intermediate route opportunities.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:20

Alec Pierce is ranked around WR 6 in full PPR and has organic upside to exceed his 105-target projection and finish better than WR 21, though reaching for him in round 7 is a mistake.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

PositiveProjection0:11

Godwin was a top six wide receiver per game in all three formats in 2024 but not top 50 last year; expected to exceed ADP but likely finish between those extremes, not as bad as last year due to recovery trajectory from injury.

Insight page
PositiveValue0:26

Chris Godwin is the favorite player across rounds 7-9, returning to slot receiver role with strong rapport with Baker Mayfield; fantastic value in round 8, though downside risk exists from last year's injury.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

PositiveRole0:13

Jeff Howe reports Rodriguez should be an important part of the Jacksonville offense; he's a good short yardage and goal line running back with history with coach Liam Cohen.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveProjection0:20

Christian Watson is projected to get about 105 targets but may not turn that into top-tier WR production like WR 21-28.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:30

Christian Watson is clearly the alpha receiver for Green Bay no matter what LaFleur says, limiting opportunities for other receivers like Jaden Reed.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

PositiveProjection0:08

Sutton is sixth in touchdowns among wide receivers over the last three seasons but 15th in targets; his value depends on maintaining his end zone role despite Jalen Waddell's arrival, with hopes he becomes a Devontae Adams-type player.

Insight page
NegativeBust0:22

Courtland Sutton has no path to top-24 production and should not be drafted in round 7; even if Jalen Waddle got hurt, he likely couldn't achieve it.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveRole0:41

DeVonta Smith is hoped to get the bulk of A.J. Brown's 121 vacated targets, but that's not realistic.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

NegativeBust0:39

DK Metcalf will not be drafted due to Aaron Rodgers' inability to throw deep balls and his tendency to get rid of the ball quickly; Metcalf had a low ADOT last year.

Insight page

Jacoby Brissett

PositiveMatchup0:37

If Jacoby Brissett starts the majority of the season for the Cardinals, Michael Wilson could see more opportunities and targets.

Insight page

Jameson Williams

PositiveProjection0:20

Jamison Williams can get 105 targets and be efficient, finishing as a WR 19-21 type player.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

PositiveBreakout0:01

Rookie expected to get more playing time and has been one of the most efficient wide receivers in football since entering the league, ranking second among wide receivers in fantasy points per target over the last three years.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:29

Jaden Reed is a more efficient version of Josh Downs but faces snap count uncertainty; he figures to be the slot receiver for Green Bay with Christian Watson as the alpha, limiting his playing time.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveRole0:24

Jalen Waddle's performance or injury status is the only upside scenario for Courtland Sutton, as Sutton would need Waddle to underperform or get hurt to return to his previous role.

Insight page

Jordan Addison

NegativeUsage0:10

Addison has ranked 55th or worse in targets per route run among wide receivers with 50+ targets in all three of his NFL seasons, meaning he needs to score touchdowns to be productive.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveRole0:04

With Michael Pittman gone, Downs could get close to seven targets per game in Indianapolis, consolidating targets left behind.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:28

Josh Downs is a huge winner with Alec Pierce gone and will lead the Colts in targets alongside Tyler Warren; he averaged over 12 PPR points per game in 2024 and should see a significant increase.

Insight page

Makai Lemon

PositiveProjection0:01

Rookie wide receiver being drafted in rounds 7-9 according to Fantasy Pros PPR consensus ADP as a potential breakout option.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:40

Makai Lemon has more upside than Michael Pittman with A.J. Brown gone, leaving 121 targets available for the Eagles receiving corps.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeRole0:07

Harrison's presence limits Michael Wilson's production; almost all of Wilson's big games came when Harrison was sidelined, and with both on the field, Wilson averaged only 10.2 PPR points per game.

Insight page
PositiveRole0:33

Marvin Harrison Jr. is still viewed as the best receiver on the Cardinals and is going in round 5-6, but Michael Wilson's recent production raises questions about Harrison's target share.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

PositiveRole0:30

Matthew Golden was a first-round pick for Green Bay and will likely get opportunities to justify his draft capital, potentially limiting snap count for Jaden Reed.

Insight page

Michael Pittman

PositiveBreakout0:38

Michael Pittman could be the best receiver for the Steelers and one of the biggest surprises of 2026; he's young, had a good year last year, and could be a top-3 fantasy receiver with 77-800 yards and 6 TDs.

Insight page

Michael Wilson

PositiveProjection0:07

Wilson averaged 21.2 PPR fantasy points per game in his last 10 games, comparable to JSN's full-season average, though production was inflated when Marvin Harrison Jr. was sidelined.

Insight page
PositiveSleeper0:26

Michael Wilson averaged 21.2 PPR points per game in his last 10 games but was much better playing out wide than in the slot; he's ranked in the 40s with upside if he becomes the primary receiver.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

PositiveProjection0:16

Johnston is wide receiver 37 in ADP and will apparently play a different role this season; ranked between Pierce and Sutton in value.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout0:22

Quentin Johnson is a former first-round pick with huge upside under Mike McDaniel, who is comparing him to Andre Johnson and Julio Jones; he scored 8 TDs in each of the last two years and has big-play potential.

0:00This past summer, my wife and I took my parents, our son, and our granddaughter on vacation to Tennessee.
0:06We wanted to get out into nature, so we found the perfect cabin on Airbnb where all four generations could stay together.
0:13The amenities really made the trip special. We had our own hot tub with a mountain view, a fire pit for late night s'mores, and a full kitchen.
0:22When you're traveling with four generations, eating every meal out gets expensive, so it was great to make bacon and eggs for
0:28breakfast one morning and grill steaks for dinner another night.
0:32Booking a stay like this gives you the flexibility to vacation how you want, where you want, with the people who matter most.
0:39But it got me thinking, Airbnb isn't just great for finding places to stay, you can also list your own home when you're away.
0:46It's nice that the same platform I use to book family vacations can also help me earn a little extra money during
0:53high demand weekends without having to upend my daily life.
0:56Honestly, listing my house feels like a smart thing to do because it's just so incredibly practical.
1:02I'm already going to be traveling anyway, so why not earn a little extra money to put toward an upcoming vacation, help
1:08offset the cost of my flights, or upgrade my travel gear?
1:12Turns an empty house into an easy opportunity while you enjoy your own time off.
1:17Your home might be worth more than you think.
1:19Find out how much at Airbnb.com slash host. This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports.
1:24Swat play! Can you believe this? No, I can't.
1:27It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races, and he stays on his feet.
1:32He's just going to go the distance. Now, here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
1:38Looking to draft a surprising breakout wide receiver. Maybe a guy like Makai Lemon.
1:42The rookie, Jaden Reed, hopefully getting some more playing time.
1:45Josh Downs. How about Alec Pierce, Cortland Sutton, Quinton Johnston, Chris Godwin, Jacoby Myers, Wondell Robinson.
1:50There are more. These are just some of the wide receivers who are being drafted, according to Fantasy Pros.
1:56PPR consensus ADP in rounds seven through nine. We welcome you to Fantasy Football Today.
2:01Adam Azer with Dave Richard. What's up, Dave Richard?
2:04I'm looking forward to this conversation because I think we're going to have some good depth at the wide receiver position.
2:10And these are the rounds where you can chase it versus the crappy running backs that were around when we talked about them a day prior.
2:18Focus on these receivers. Jamie, is this just depth?
2:21Or do we have some league winners in rounds seven through nine, Jamie Eisenberg?
2:26There will be some league winners, but I think you're drafting them for depth at the start.
2:31Fair. Yeah. And what's interesting is that you're much further into the wide receiver pool than you are running backs.
2:37We're talking about wide receivers 36 through 49 in ADP.
2:40Whereas when we start with Tony Pollard yesterday, he was running back 28.
2:44And we finished with J.K. Dobbins, who was running back 38.
2:48So round seven starts with wide receiver 36. Round nine ends with wide receiver 49.
2:52Round nine ended with running back 36. Or 38, excuse me.
2:56So you're deeper into the wide receiver pool, but you still have really good players.
3:01And guys, the first point... What? I don't know why I was on.
3:05The look when Thomas realized he was on was amazing.
3:08Oh, Thomas Shaver just showing up. Let's talk about round seven through nine wide receivers.
3:12Thomas just did a WTF when he realized it, but he mouthed it out loud.
3:17All right. The most important thing for you to know about these wide receivers is that if you're going to get a
3:24guy who finishes top 24, either per game or overall, almost all of them, the ones who come out of this group
3:31and finish top 24, almost all of them averaged seven or more targets per game.
3:35Last year, for example, that was Chris Olave. Stefan Diggs did not.
3:39He was a rare exception. But over the last nine seasons, 26 wide receivers drafted in this range have been top 24 per game.
3:47And 21 of them have averaged at least seven targets per game.
3:50So look at the list. Sutton, Johnston, Pierce, Godwin, Pittman, Lemon, Michael Wilson, Jaden Reed, Downs, Pearsall, Jacoby Myers, Addison, Wondell Robinson, Xavier Worthy.
3:58Dave, who could average seven targets per game? I don't know if I'm comfortable saying anybody that you've named can average seven targets per game.
4:06I think the guys that could come closest might be on the same team.
4:10It might be in Indianapolis because we know that Michael Pittman's gone, leaves a ton of targets behind.
4:16I think they're going to consolidate. And I think Downs and Pierce could each get close to that number of seven targets per game.
4:23Jamie, any candidates here? Godwin. I think depending on how you view Michael Wilson, but I don't think I'll get to seven.
4:30Wondell certainly could, but that's the top. You know what?
4:33You're right. Wondell absolutely could. With Carnell Tate, if he's legit, then no.
4:37I think, you know, seven is probably the ceiling for most of these guys.
4:42The problem with Wondell getting past seven, and he's been past eight each of the last two years, is that he just
4:49doesn't do a ton after the catch. You're drafting him because of specifically the catches and the points you get with him in full PPR.
4:56But I'm looking forward to talking to him. He's somebody I'm targeting.
5:00Yeah, and he's one of the last guys in this group.
5:04He's wide receiver 48 and ADP. And remember, I said that's to finish top 24.
5:08None of these guys are being drafted anywhere really near that.
5:12So you don't need them to average seven targets per game in order to return value here.
5:17All right, so we're going to get into these guys in just a moment.
5:21I want to remind you, though, we are, you know, we're in July.
5:25We're ramping up our coverage. We're going to be at five episodes per week beginning next week.
5:31During the season, you'll have an episode every single day, sometimes more than that.
5:35We'll have live streams that are just on YouTube at youtube.com slash fantasy football today, including for at least 90 minutes before kickoff on Sundays.
5:43So we are really dedicated and we're year round.
5:46And this is our 19th year. So almost 20 years of fantasy football advice.
5:50So if you're new to the show, subscribe to fantasy football today to our YouTube channel.
5:55You can listen to us anywhere you can find podcasts.
5:58youtube.com slash fantasy football today. You can follow us on social media, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
6:03Just look for fantasy football today. And welcome to the family.
6:06We have a lot of fun. We have a great audience, especially that Facebook group.
6:11We have a Facebook group where you can just talk to other listeners and viewers and get your questions answered, those types of things.
6:19But we'd love to keep our podcast growing. So join us, tell your friends, and let's do this.
6:24Group chat stats. Some fun fantasy football facts that you can tell your...
6:28Why don't you say it around the water cooler?
6:31Because you told me I stole it. You shamed me.
6:34I much prefer water cooler stats. I like where you went with it.
6:38I like group chat stats better. All right, group chat stats.
6:42Your fantasy football group chat. Go ahead and tell them.
6:4521st century. Tell them. Why can't it be like Slack chats?
6:48No. Only people at work Slack. Not everybody has Slack.
6:51Yeah, come on. Like WhatsApp chats? You can have a group chat on WhatsApp and on Slack.
6:57These are group chat stats, Jamie. What's the green zone?
7:00You're starting to devolve into some other chat platforms that might not be suitable for this show.
7:05All right. Tell your group chat that Michael Wilson averaged 21.2 PPR fantasy points per game in his last 10 games.
7:12That is basically what JSN averaged last year for the full season.
7:15That's amazing. That's amazing. It is amazing, but I don't think that that encapsulates who he is.
7:21Like you call me out all the time when I give a stat that you can further Azer stat.
7:27Yeah, of course. And there were a bunch of games that he played late in the year with Marvin Harrison Jr.
7:33Almost all of his big games came when Marvin Harrison Jr.
7:37was sidelined. Yeah, yeah. Oh, for sure. But it's just seven games with him and Brissett and Marvin.
7:42He was at 10.2 PPR points per game, 5.7 targets per game.
7:46Yeah. But, I mean, it's just amazing what he did.
7:49I mean, I don't think there's any scenario where Marvin Harrison Jr.
7:53would have averaged 21.2 PPR points per game. I think that's kind of the point.
7:57And also, he was even better than Trey McBride in that stretch.
8:01All right. Over the last three seasons, group chat, Jaden Reed has 34 carries.
8:06Six of them have gone for 20 or more yards.
8:09He has twice as many 20-plus yard runs as Alvin Kamara and Ashton Gentty over the last three seasons.
8:15Gentty only one year, but Kamara three years. Also, Jaden Reed is second among wide receivers in fantasy points per target over the last three years.
8:23Now, number one is Jalen McMillan. Number four is Tim Patrick.
8:26But Reed actually has a lot of targets compared to those guys.
8:30So, I mentioned, and if you listen to the, if you just watched the Mailbag Show, I gave these stats.
8:36But Jaden Reed has been one of the most efficient wide receivers in football since he entered the league.
8:42Jamie, Cortland Sutton. If he's going to be good this year, and he's wide receiver 36 in ADP right now, he needs to score touchdowns.
8:50Well, over the last three seasons, Sutton is sixth in touchdowns among wide receivers.
8:54He's 15th in targets. Fifth in red zone targets.
8:5712th in green zone targets. Third in end zone targets.
9:00Do you think Cortland Sutton can keep that role?
9:03Because that's not really been Jalen Waddell's strength is the end zone targets.
9:07Whereas Cortland Sutton, 25 targets in the last three years.
9:1025 touchdowns. 22 of them were thrown to the end zone.
9:14I think he still leads the Broncos in touchdowns, but he loses everywhere else because of Jalen Waddell.
9:19So, that's the thing that's going to save him is, you know, you're hoping that he becomes a version of Devontae Adams.
9:26If you're going to still buy into Cortland Sutton.
9:29But this is a good spot to take a chance on him, this range.
9:33And Dave Waddell Robinson has two straight seasons with 140 targets.
9:37He was wide receiver 47 per game in 2024 and wide receiver 17 per game in 2025.
9:42Both times he had 140 targets. What changed? He had a bit of a higher ADOT.
9:47He had more end zone targets. He averaged more yards per catch.
9:51But, you know, anybody getting 140 targets is a must-draft player way before round nine.
9:56I don't know if he'll get there again, but it is amazing just how different his two seasons were.
10:01He's averaged 8.2 targets per game in his last 38 games in this offense.
10:06He was drafted by Brian Dable. He has followed Brian Dable to Tennessee.
10:10The Titans receiving core added Carnell Tate in the draft.
10:13They still have Calvin Ridley. They still have a couple of guys that they took last year who were rookies.
10:19I think he's an easy plug-and-play for the Titans offense.
10:22And he'll be an easy short area target for Cam Ward to lean on.
10:27And it would not surprise me at least if he continued to average eight targets per game.
10:32Man, that's a lot of targets. Jordan Addison is another guy that's in this group.
10:37We just talked about Waddell Robinson. How about Jordan Addison?
10:40Jordan Addison has ranked 55th or worse in targets per route run among wide receivers with 50 or more targets in all three of his NFL seasons.
10:48So a lot of numbers there, but the bottom line is Jordan Addison just does not command a lot of targets.
10:55He needs to score touchdowns to be good. And he's been pretty good at scoring touchdowns in two or three seasons.
11:01And finally, Chris Godwin. Now, real quick here. If you are watching the show live and you just watched the mailbag, then
11:08you know we recorded the Wednesday mailbag before this show.
11:11If you're listening, you're going to hear a lot of the same stuff about Chris Godwin that I was on Wednesday's mailbag
11:18show that I'm about to say now. But Chris Godwin was a top six wide receiver per game in all three formats in 2024.
11:26He was not top 50 per game last year.
11:29Jamie, who's the real Chris Godwin? Somewhere in between.
11:31You know, I'm curious how much he's going to line up inside because that's typically been his best role is playing the slot.
11:39And so when you have Emeka Abuka and you have Jalen McMillan and we'll see what Ted Hurst does and obviously new
11:45play caller and Zach Robinson, where they put Godwin I think is going to matter a lot here.
11:51So you're seeing a lot. You know, I mean, obviously we can't be naive to the fact that our audience only reads and pays attention to us.
12:00You know, you guys are, I'm sure, seeing a lot of other publications that are hyping up Chris Godwin as the best receiver in Tampa Bay.
12:08And that makes some sense because of what his rapport is with Baker Mayfield and what his track record has been.
12:14So I think this is a great spot to take a chance on Chris Godwin.
12:19I think he's going to exceed his ADP. But I don't think he's going to be a top six fantasy receiver.
12:25And I certainly don't think he's going to be as bad as he was last year because as we've seen from him,
12:32there is a track record, now granted he's older, of him almost taking two years to recover from significant injuries.
12:39And so if that happens again, then we're getting a pretty good version of what Chris Godwin can be.
12:44So in this spot, I would take a chance on him, but I wouldn't be reaching for him much sooner than this.
12:51Much earlier than this. Yeah. And you're right about the slot rate for Chris Godwin.
12:56It was about 48% last year, which is low for him when he's been at his best.
13:01He's got five really good to great PPR seasons.
13:04His slot rate's been over 55% all those years.
13:07All right. We only have one news item that I saw, unless you want to throw in some others.
13:13But Jeff Howe of The Athletic says that we should be prepared for Chris Rodriguez to be an important part of the Jacksonville.
13:20Jacksonville offense. Anyway, Dave, right now, as we take a quick break from wide receivers, Bejal Tootin is on Fantasy Pros RB 24, and he's in round five.
13:29Whereas Chris Rodriguez is RB 43 in round 12.
13:32What's better value? Tootin in round five or Rodriguez in round 12?
13:35I guess it's Rodriguez in round 12, provided that he's healthy when training camp starts.
13:40It sounds like he will be. His profile suggests that he's a good short yardage goal line running back, but the stats
13:47say Tootin was better in that role last year.
13:50I would be nervous about those two becoming an ambiguous duo in the backfield.
13:54We touched on this in the mailbag episode, but we didn't really speak too much on Jacksonville being one of those backfields
14:01that you could potentially draft the pair and have a starter each week.
14:05I just don't know how effective the one starter will be because they could be very much like what Chicago was last
14:12year, where there's just weeks where one of the running backs is great.
14:16The other one leaves you hanging and you don't know which one it's going to be from week to week.
14:22It could go that way in Jacksonville. Frank in the chat says, I'm totally out on Jacksonville's backfield.
14:28This feels like such a mess, Jamie. I mean, it's it's potentially a mess.
14:32I mean, you know, you you lose a guy like, you know, Travis Etienne at the time, Travis HN, and they didn't
14:39really do a lot to replace him. I I'll go back to what I said yesterday or the other show, whatever data about Alvin Kamara and James Conner.
14:48Like this feels like a destination for those guys or one of those guys, because it would add a veteran presence that
14:55has maybe the opportunity for a little more pop than those two guys are certainly a better resume than those two guys.
15:02But Chris Rodriguez, as we've talked about, has a history with Liam Cohen.
15:06It's part of the reason why he was the fallback plan.
15:09They did want J.K. Dobbins. That was recently reported.
15:12It was something that I heard as well. And so, you know, if if they went out and tried to get somebody
15:19else and failed, then clearly that tells you, you know, a little bit about what they did.
15:24They settled for somebody and to and could maybe not be the guy that they're hoping he can be.
15:30But this is what they have right now. This is what they're going to go to training camp with.
15:36And obviously, it's a great offense. You know, it's a it's an offense that showed a lot of improvements and really, I
15:43think, helped Travis Etienne, who, as we know, last year is one of the best values.
15:48I think he was going in this range of running back.
15:51So I'm still hopeful for both at this point with Rodriguez missing all of the offseason.
15:56You know, Tootin's the one you want to draft first.
15:59But I still think Chris Rodriguez is a great sleeper to target with a, you know, late round pick, depending on where his ADP settles.
16:07Travis Etienne slash HN is one of the biggest asterisks in ADP history because they traded Tank Bigsby last year on September 8th.
16:14So that's why HN or Etienne HN was going as late as he was round nine, I think, last year.
16:21I don't know where he would have gone. He still would have probably been a really good value, though.
16:27I probably would have been more like a sixth, fifth or sixth round pick after the season he had been coming off.
16:33Just speculation. All right. That's our thoughts on the Jaguars backfield.
16:37We'll take a break. We'll come back and we'll get into Cortland Sutton, Quentin Johnson and Alec Pierce in round seven after this.
16:44Beginning our round seven through nine wide receivers discussion with round seven.
16:48Be weird to begin with round nine, wouldn't it?
16:51Cortland Sutton, Quentin Johnston and Alec Pierce. They are wide receivers 36 through 38 in ADP on Fantasy Pros.
16:57This is PPR. Dave, how would you rank Sutton, Johnston, Pierce?
17:00Pierce. And then Sutton and then Johnston. Sutton, Johnston.
17:03There's decent gaps between each of them, too. Okay.
17:06Jamie? Pierce, Johnston, Sutton. And Johnston and Sutton are very close.
17:09What do you guys make of Alec Pierce and his injury right now?
17:13How difficult is that making your ranking of him, Jamie?
17:16I'd probably be a little bit more excited about Pierce.
17:19But I think just looking at it is he's one of the most hardest players to project because you're asking him to do something that he's never done.
17:28And a lot of his production last season came at the end of the year without Daniel Jones.
17:34But obviously, no Michael Pittman. The contract is clearly something that you have to buy into.
17:39I believe in terms of his injury, he had the surgery when he did to make sure that there would be no issues for his training camp.
17:47So he should be fine. Certainly for the start of the season, he should be fine.
17:52This is a steal. I mean, I haven't seen Alec Pierce going around seven in any draft I've done.
17:58So I'm surprised that his ADP, like he's – the fact that he's in this range to me speaks to the fact that he's hurt.
18:06I think if he was healthy, no issues. You know, we were drafting right after free agency and he signed that deal
18:13in terms of like drafting for real. Like we're talking about a round five receiver.
18:17Like that's the type of upside he has. Man, he's so interesting because the guy was a second-round pick in 2022.
18:246'3", 211 pounds at the combine. He ran a 4-4-1.
18:27He's just always been pigeonholed as a deep guy at one of the highest ADOTs in the NFL.
18:33I believe Alec Pierce has led the NFL in yards per target and yards per catch two straight seasons.
18:39But deep ball, deep ball, deep ball. I wonder if he's going to have – I wonder if he's going to play
18:46a different role this year because he only had 84 targets in 15 games on pace for 95 targets.
18:51You can't get a bunch of targets when your average depth of target is like 17 yards.
18:57So will he play a different role and what will – how will he do with that role?
19:02You know, it's – we know who Cortland Sutton is at this point.
19:06Johnston – Quentin Johnston also is going to apparently play a different role.
19:10But Alec Pierce, Dave, I still think we don't really know what he's capable of.
19:15And we don't know how effective he'll be in the shorter area role.
19:19I just quickly looked and checked out what his receiving metrics were on throws of 18 – or 15 or fewer area yards.
19:26Excuse me. And it ain't great. His catch rate was 58%.
19:30One touchdown, 36 targets in total. 15 games, only 36 of his targets were 15 yards or closer through the air on the line of scrimmage.
19:38And that's with a high catchable throw rate from his quarterbacks.
19:417.4 yards per target. 0.78 yards per route run.
19:44This is nasty. This isn't what you want from a receiver.
19:48And so you've got to wonder, does that change if he gets more opportunities?
19:52And you can't help but think that he will get more of those opportunities because Michael Pittman walked out the door, was
19:59traded out the door with 111 targets from last year.
20:02I know Josh Downs is going to take a lot of those targets away, but Alec Pierce was just paid like a number one wide receiver.
20:10I think they have to use him accordingly. And it would make sense if they did.
20:15We just don't have the evidence that he can succeed on those short and intermediate routes.
20:20Yeah. Makes him a little bit tougher to trust.
20:23And that's probably a part of the reason that, along with Daniel Jones' injury, is making people a little squeamish.
20:29And I think that's why his ADP is what it is.
20:33You have his projections on the YouTube site from Sportsline, which is 105 targets.
20:37That's not ideal. No, but here's the thing. When you look at Christian Watson and Jamison Williams, who are going ahead of
20:44him, they are guys who can get about 105 targets and still be.
20:48I don't I don't think he's going to turn 105 targets.
20:51Alec Pierce into wide receiver. I don't think there's enough catches there, but wide receiver like 27, 28.
20:57You know, Jamison Jamo has kind of been like that that guy that you can get 105 targets, be that efficient.
21:04And Alec Pierce is even more efficient than him so far in his career.
21:08I just think like to get 105 targets in full PPR and only the projection was for 58 catches.
21:14I don't know how that's going to end up being wide receiver 21.
21:18No, that that projection is very close to what Jamo did over the course of the 2025 season.
21:24And on a per game basis, Jamo was wide receiver 19.
21:27And that's when receiver scoring was down. Yeah, right.
21:30It was a bad year. He might be able to cross over into top 24 territory.
21:35I think I think reaching for Alec Pierce is a mistake.
21:38I've got him ranked as around six wide receiver in full PPR.
21:42That might be a little bit too high. I just don't know how many other wide receivers I love more than him because he does have organic upside.
21:51If he can connect on those intermediate throws and they still throw downfield and Daniel Jones is OK.
21:56And maybe that's too many ifs, but there is upside for Alec Pierce to be better than what these projections.
22:03Suggests and certainly to get more than 105 targets over the course of 17 games.
22:07OK, I'm I'm just not going to draft Courtland Sutton in round seven.
22:11There is just no way because I really think that, you know, when when you gave that stat about getting seven or more targets.
22:19But the other stat is that about 22 ish percent of wide receivers drafted in this range over the last nine years
22:26have been top 24 guys and maybe about 10 percent have been top 12.
22:30Like you can find great players here. I don't see any path to that for Courtland Sutton.
22:35Honestly, even if Jalen Waddle got hurt, I don't know that he could do it.
22:40Maybe he's gonna be 31 in October. So I'm just not drafting him.
22:44I do like Quentin Johnson's round seven feels a little early.
22:48Jamie, you I know you like drafting Quentin Johnson.
22:50Do you take him in round seven? I would.
22:53Yeah. I mean, I think, again, this is gonna be another guy that gets hyped up to a point where he may
23:00be too rich to draft in the round six range.
23:03But, you know, when you start to talk about the wide receiver numbers, that's where I think it matters more, you know,
23:10so if you don't if you don't like the profile, you don't like the history.
23:15And obviously there are things, you know, you can nitpick about Quentin Johnson and I shouldn't say nitpick.
23:20You can obviously point out the flaws of what he's done in his profile in the early part of his career.
23:27I'm just banking on what I saw the first four games of the season when Joe was healthy, Mike McDaniel now being
23:34there and the things that he's saying about him and how he wants to unlock him and comparing him to Andre Johnson
23:41and Julio Jones, the players that he's coached in the past.
23:44And I think that's a little bit obviously hyperbole.
23:47But, you know, you're still talking about a player that is a former first round pick that has huge upside.
23:53And despite the struggles the last two seasons, if you want to call them struggles, he scored eight touchdowns each of those two years.
24:01And so this could be a guy that similar to Pierce, similar to Jameson Williams, similar to Christian Watson, you know, big
24:07play potential, doesn't need a lot of targets. If he starts to get those, though, then we could be looking at a
24:14guy that can, you know, approach the top 24.
24:17I don't think that's in the range of possibility.
24:20I shouldn't say I don't think that's going to happen, but it's in the range of possibilities that he can have an
24:27opportunity here to, you know, really take off and just dominate in this offense with McDaniel calling place.
24:32Dave, do you agree with my take on Cortland Sutton that he just doesn't really have a lot of upside?
24:39Well, what is the upside? It's that Jalen Waddle doesn't perform to expectations or he gets hurt and then he's forced into
24:46being back in the same role that he was in last year.
24:49And last year that role resulted in barely almost 13 PPR points per game.
24:54And I, that's probably okay. If we're talking about around seven wide receiver, it's great in round seven, but I, but that's if Waddle's not good or hurt.
25:02I, there are at least four wide receivers that I've found five, make it five wide receivers who last year had at
25:09least seven touchdowns and under seven targets per game.
25:12So minimum of seven touchdowns and under seven targets per game.
25:16Only one of them averaged more than 13 PPR points per game.
25:19So if Sutton is seeing a downturn in targets, but it's still going to be a red zone threat.
25:25I think you plan accordingly and expect them to be in that 11 or 12 full PPR range.
25:31That's okay for round seven. I don't, I don't love it, but I don't love a lot of, uh, I like more
25:38of these receivers in like that round eight, round nine range than I do pushing them up into round seven.
25:44Okay. Well, but except you said for Pierce, you think this is a good spot.
25:49Pierce is in that. I think Pierce is in a good spot in round seven.
25:53And I think some of the other players, if you're looking on the screen on YouTube, uh, round nine, Pierce, all Wanda,
26:00I think Addison and like, I think almost all the round nine receivers.
26:04If we're getting those guys in round nine, I would pass on most of the receivers in round seven and eight to
26:11go after those guys in round nine. All right, let's go to round eight.
26:16Round nine is Pierce, all Jacoby Myers, Addison, Wandale, and worthy round eight, six wide receivers from wide receivers, 39 to 44 and ADP.
26:23Chris Godwin, Michael Pittman, Makai Lemon, Michael Wilson, Jaden Reed, and Josh Downs.
26:27Chris Godwin, Michael Pittman, Makai Lemon, Michael Wilson, Jaden Reed, Josh Downs.
26:31Jamie, who are your three favorites in that group?
26:34God was my favorite player on this entire list.
26:36So he's one, um, Downs would be two and Wilson would be three.
26:41Godwin, Downs, Michael Wilson, ahead of Pittman, Lemon, and Reed.
26:44Dave, how about you? It's Godwin, Downs, Wilson. Oh, interesting.
26:47Did you know Michael Wilson averaged 21.2 PPR points per game in his last 10?
26:51Um, also. I heard that fairly misleading stat somewhere.
26:54Yeah. Also, Michael Wilson, much, much better playing out wide than in the slot.
26:59His slot rate was a lot higher with Marvin Harrison Jr.
27:02on the field. Um, okay. Jamie, Jamie, why is Chris Godwin your favorite player?
27:06Not just in round eight, but in all of these rounds, round seven through nine.
27:11So ahead of Sutton, ahead of Johnson, ahead of Alec Pierce, Chris Godwin.
27:15I mean, we've talked about this a little bit already.
27:18I think he goes back to being the slot receiver for Tampa Bay.
27:22I think he's going to be healthy compared to what he was last year.
27:27You're talking about Jalen McMillan, Emeka, Buka, Ted Hurst, young players with a lot of upside, but very unproven track records here.
27:34And Godwin and Baker Mayfield have a very strong rapport and strong history together.
27:38So I think the value for Godwin is fantastic.
27:41There's clearly a lot of downside as we saw last season.
27:44And to your point, he may be done. He may be washed up.
27:48That certainly could be the scenario here. But when you're starting to look at targets per game, I think he could lead this entire group.
27:56Production, past history. I think he's, you know, resume speaks for itself.
28:00And so if he's healthy, and I think Tampa Bay, despite the fact that he was hurt last year, I think it
28:07was last year when they gave him the contract extension.
28:10They still feel really comfortable with him as being a focal point of this offense.
28:15And I think that's going to happen. So I'm thrilled to take a chance on him if I get him around eight.
28:21I would take him as early as around seven.
28:24Okay. And you said Josh Downs after that. Yeah, I think Downs, between Downs and Tyler Warren, they're going to lead the team in targets.
28:32I think both guys out target out Pierce. And so how much of a big increase do we see for Downs, who
28:39averaged over 12 PPR points per game in 2024, started last year injured?
28:43Again, no Michael Pittman. He's the easy guy to, you know, fill that role and be the short area guy, along with Warren for Daniel Jones.
28:51Jones coming off the injury. How much is he going to throw downfield to Alec Pierce consistently, at least the early part of the season?
28:59So I think Downs is a huge winner with Pierce gone.
29:02Probably a bigger winner than Alec Pierce, although Pierce's contract, I'm sure he'll take that every day.
29:08I don't think. I think Downs is trying to earn that contract.
29:11Yeah. I believe he's not getting that year. I don't know, dude.
29:15He puts together a monster year for Indianapolis and he can.
29:19It's going to have to be like a Mount Rush St.
29:22Brown monster year for him to get that type of deal.
29:25What's the difference, though, between Josh Downs and Jaden Reed?
29:29I think Jaden Reed is coming off a really bad year where he got hurt almost immediately, played hurt, you know.
29:35But we say they've lost Romeo Dobbs, Dontavian Wicks.
29:38Both of them are very high slot guys, slot percentage, very high, who don't play enough snaps, really.
29:44But Jaden Reed has just, I think, been a better version of Josh Downs.
29:48I think based on... He's been a more efficient version of Josh Downs.
29:52Well, look at his last two years. You have to go back two years to see it, though.
29:58Yeah. Okay. Last year stunk, but the first two years of Jaden Reed's career were pretty good.
30:03I think the biggest thing for me is I know Josh Downs is going to be on the field a lot.
30:09I don't know if Jaden Reed is going to be on the field a lot.
30:14Right. And the biggest reason for that is they spent a first-round pick on Matthew Golden, and Christian Watson is clearly their
30:21alpha, no matter what LaFleur will say. He's their best receiver.
30:24And so Jaden Reed figures to be more as their slot receiver.
30:28And when you have Tucker Crafts and the personnel groupings that they're going to use, if they're not in three-receiver sets, I
30:35don't think Jaden Reed's on the field a lot.
30:38Josh Downs is going to play outside this year.
30:41There's no way around it. He's going to move around.
30:44He's going to be a different type of receiver.
30:47They said as much. And so I think Jaden Reed's value is awesome, but if you're telling me I have to take
30:53Jaden Reed over Josh Downs, I'd rather have Downs.
30:56One point for you. Is Jaden Reed who you go after if you don't get Downs?
31:01He's one of the guys I would consider. But, I mean, we're talking when you're in wide receiver 44, depending on how
31:08you draft, if you're putting yourself in a position where you're drafting these guys to have to be your starters, you may be making a mistake.
31:16Right. Just one point in Reed's favor is not necessarily over Downs.
31:20I would take Downs over Reed. He's scored in 2023 and 2024 1.3 and 1.4 points per game and rushing totals.
31:27It's a little scary because you don't know if he's going to get that, but he's been so damn good with the ball in his hands.
31:35Probably two of it. You probably shouldn't expect that.
31:38But I mean, we were calling him Debo Light.
31:40Yeah, I think you should expect that. I don't know.
31:439.1 yards per carry. Debo Samuel in those last three years has averaged 4.5 yards per carry.
31:49No, but in terms of opportunities, I think the Packers would be doing themselves a disservice if they don't give him those touches.
31:56And, you know, LeFleur, two owners meetings ago when he was coming off the 2023 season was, you know, saying as much.
32:03Like, you know, he's a dynamic player. Part of that, though, is why he got hurt.
32:08You know, it was just maybe he's not built to do all these extra things.
32:12I hope that's not the case, but you never know.
32:16But in the case of Reed that's in his favor versus Downs, his quarterback is much better.
32:21His offense is probably much better. And I think, you know, if he was on the field a lot more and did
32:28stay healthy and got those chances and he was, you know, put him on the Colts right now, then it's probably a
32:35better situation for him just in terms of playing time.
32:38But again, you know, does he does he make more sense if you're the Packers to play him as an outside receiver
32:45in whatever spot over Christian Watson or Matthew Golden?
32:47I would think they look at it and probably say, no, now they paid him.
32:52But again, draft capital production. They need Christian Watson to win.
32:56They need him to stay healthy. And I think they need Matthew Golden to sort of justify the draft pick.
33:02So he's going to probably get a little bit more opportunities to play just in terms of playing time than I think
33:09Jaden Reed does, at least early in season. I'm a little surprised that you guys had Michael Wilson third.
33:15Again, the group of six wide receivers were Godwin, Pittman, Lemon, Wilson, Jaden Reed and Downs.
33:20Jamie said Godwin, Downs, Wilson. Dave, you said Godwin blank Wilson.
33:23Who was the second one? Downs. Okay. So you both had Godwin, Downs, Wilson.
33:27I'm a little surprised because Michael Wilson was obviously amazing at the end of last season.
33:32But even in that 10 game stretch or seven, what was it?
33:36Seven game stretch, whatever. Eight games. Last eight games, the average 21.2 points per game.
33:41Even in that eight game stretch, there were three games where Marvin Harrison Jr.
33:45played. Right? Week 13, Marvin Harrison Jr. played 61% of the snaps.
33:49Michael Wilson had a 13% target share. Week 16, Marvin Harrison Jr.
33:53played 51% of the snaps. And Michael Wilson had a 16% target share.
33:57Week 17, Marvin Harrison Jr. played. Oh, I'm sorry.
34:00Those target shares are when Harrison was on the field.
34:03Week 17, Marvin Harrison Jr. ran 13 routes. When he was on the field, you did have four targets for Michael Wilson, which was a 40% target share.
34:11But even in the midst of this incredible run, as soon as Marvin Harrison was on the field, Michael Wilson was pretty much doing nothing.
34:19So compared to Makai Lemon, who's got a great opportunity, Jayden Reed, who we just talked about, Michael Pittman, who I will not draft in any leagues.
34:28I don't know. The going Wilson. No, I really cannot see myself.
34:31I like him better than Metcalf. I'm definitely not drafting Metcalf, but no, I'm not a Pittman guy.
34:37Dave, yeah, I don't know. I'm a little surprised Wilson was third for you.
34:41He's third, but he's also ranked 45th amongst all wide receivers.
34:45So I can't sit here and say that I'm a big proponent of drafting Michael Wilson, but you can't deny what you saw on film last year.
34:53You have to hope that the new coaching staff, and for what it's worth, Michael Fleur has said that he views Michael
35:00Wilson in the same type of role as Puka Nakua.
35:03And I kind of get it. When you watch Michael Wilson play, he's very physical.
35:08He's got good for his size, linear speed. He's got decent quickness.
35:12Not sure he's got the same type of hands as Puka Nakua.
35:15But then again, who does? Puka is just great at about everything, and he's a great fit for that offense.
35:22I worry about there being a target crunch that remains.
35:25And unless LeFleur is just completely done with one of Harrison or McBride, I'm worried that there's going to be modest at
35:32best target volume for Michael Wilson from week to week, and that he will not put up numbers like he did last
35:39season when he had so many opportunities, most of which coming when Marvin Harrison was off the field.
35:44So I think just the biggest thing for Wilson is, and I agree with almost everything Dave said, like Godwin could be great.
35:51Pittman may be the best receiver for the Steelers.
35:54Maybe Makai Lemon is A.J. Brown. Maybe Jaden Reed is the best receiver for the Packers.
35:59Maybe Josh Downs is the best receiver for the Colts.
36:02Alex Pierce, Quinn Johnson, Corwin Sutton, all these guys.
36:05One guy on this list averaged over 20 PPR points per game for a stretch last year.
36:10For a stretch? One guy. 20? For that stretch.
36:13Oh, oh, Michael. Oh, sorry. I don't know why I thought you were on Michael.
36:18He's referencing your set. I thought you were talking about Michael Pittman for whatever he is.
36:23Yes, Michael Wilson. Yes, he did. It's unbelievable. This is where I have him ranked as well.
36:28It's in the 40s. It's not with the expectation of him doing that again by any stretch.
36:34It's not with him being the best receiver on the Cardinals.
36:37I still think that's Marvin Harrison. But what if?
36:40And that's the reason you're drafting him is the what if.
36:43What if what we saw last year makes him the best receiver?
36:47Not receiving talent. Not better than Shane McBride. Best receiver.
36:50Better than Marvin Harrison who's going, I'm assuming, in round five or six.
36:54What if Michael Wilson is Pukunakua in the role?
36:57Not the production, but in the role. Like just those type of ifs makes you want to gravitate toward him and why
37:04some people think Michael Wilson is better than Marvin Harrison because Michael Wilson did something.
37:09Marvin Harrison, we've been waiting for. Yeah. So if he does get those opportunities, he's not getting over 13 targets per game
37:15because that's what he was averaging when when Marvin Harrison was out.
37:19Like if he gets just more chances and becomes a guy, especially if Jacoby Brissett starts the majority of the season.
37:26Look, there's there's every which way this can go bad.
37:29Michael Wilson's track record in history suggests when other guys are there, he's just not the same.
37:34But the if and so I think just if you're talking about your your fourth receiver, your fifth receiver, he's done things
37:41that nobody else on this list has and may ever, ever accomplish in those games that he did last season when Harrison was out.
37:49Yeah. The what if I mean, my biggest takeaway from what you just said, the what if is that I'm not drafting Marvin Harrison.
37:56That's fair. Yeah, because he's going. Yeah. Early round six.
37:59I would rather have Harrison because I think he, you know, again.
38:03No, but at a at cost, you'd rather have Harrison in round six than Wilson around eight.
38:08If it's only a two round difference. And yes, I'd rather.
38:12Okay. I'd rather have Harrison. I just. I don't want to pay the round six price for Harrison.
38:17I'd rather Harrison than Wilson. I don't know about the cost.
38:21Right. I'd rather have Wilson at this cost. We got to take a break.
38:25I'm sorry, Dave. I got to take a break.
38:28We'll talk about Lemon and Pittman when we come back and then we'll get to the round nine guys.
38:34We'll be right back on fantasy football today. Jamie, when I said I wasn't drafting Michael Pittman, you seemed surprised.
38:40Do you like him as wide receiver 40? In this range.
38:43I think I'm at 41. No, I'm sorry. I have Metcalf 41.
38:47I haven't met 44. I think Pittman could be the best receiver for the Steelers.
38:52It wouldn't shock me. I mean, again, the way that he plays, the routes that he's going to run, the type of quarterback Aaron Rodgers is right now.
39:01The only saving grace for DK Metcalf for me is McCarthy's offense is vertical.
39:05And is Aaron Rodgers at this age able to do the things I think McCarthy would like to do and certainly would like DK Metcalf to do?
39:13Pittman just seems to be a better fit. And so you lose Kenneth Gainwell.
39:18Obviously, Jalen Moore and Rico Dall are going to do some things in the passing game.
39:23And, you know, there's going to be other players that step up and perform.
39:27But for the cheap investment, still the production. He's still young enough.
39:31He still had a good enough year last year.
39:34He's had some really good years the past couple of seasons.
39:37I think Pittman could be one of the biggest surprises this year.
39:41Now, not Chris Olave surprise where you're getting him very late and he's a superstar.
39:46But like, man, I should have taken Michael Pittman sooner.
39:49Or why didn't I value Michael Pittman more? Like, he could be one of these guys we're talking about at the end of the 2026 season.
39:57Like, in PPR, I think if you're, again, looking at the sports line projections, six touchdowns, feels about the ceiling.
40:03I would probably take the over on the 673 yards.
40:06But like, 77, 800, that range, like that type of guy.
40:10Like, he could be a really good number three fantasy receiver.
40:13Okay. I'd take Lemon over him, though. Oh, yeah.
40:16More upside. Dave, Lemon or Pittman? Pittman. You sure?
40:19Yeah. Okay. Sorry. We've talked about him so much that I felt like I needed to play the music.
40:25And the fact that he's on the Steelers now, and he is legitimately the Pittman.
40:29Thank you, Michael Pittman. All makes sense. Yeah. Michael Pittman said that he was playing a role last year that basically just
40:36doing what the Colts were asking him to do.
40:39ESPN had a note that said, Next Gen Stats had Michael Pittman with 47% of his routes through week 15 being in
40:46breakers, which was the highest rate of his career.
40:49Get used to that, Michael. Well, no. The point of this whole spiel is that he felt like he was going to be used more versatility.
40:57With more versatility? Yeah. In Pittsburgh. Be more versatile.
41:00Sure. Someone's saying, like, Adam hates the Steelers. Adam's hate for the Steelers is real.
41:04Yeah. Yeah. I'm not going to deny it. I just don't think Aaron Rodgers is good enough, especially his deep balls.
41:11And he doesn't want to get hit, and he gets rid of the ball super quickly.
41:16That's why I will have zero DK Metcalf on my team.
41:19Right. Makes all the sense in the world. Metcalf had actually a really low ADOT last year.
41:25Just that's what he wants. And that's Metcalf we're talking about.
41:28He turned him into a low ADOT guy. All right.
41:31Let's talk about round nine. Pure Saul. I thought you wanted Lemon.
41:35Oh, yeah. Okay. I mean, I thought I kind of did.
41:38But sure. What do you want to say about it?
41:41Jamie, give me an outlook on Lemon. Well, I mean, we know AJ Brown is gone, so that's 121 targets that are left on the table.
41:50I think we're all hoping Devontae Smith gets the bulk of that, but that's not realistic.
41:55And so how much will Lemon stand out ahead of Hollywood Brown, Dontavian Wicks, there's one other guy, I forget, that group,
42:01and be the first-round talent and produce like he's capable of?
42:05And it's just an unknown. I don't like the fact that he was hurt in many camps, so hopefully he'll be healthy.
42:12But, I mean, my gosh, the easiest comp in the world is Amon Ross St.
42:16Brown. And if he could play like that and be that type of guy for Jalen Hurts, then I think it's just
42:23– it's an easy narrative, but I think it's a silly narrative to say that Jalen Hurts won't throw over the middle of the field.
42:31He definitely has done that. He will do that.
42:34He'll continue to do that. I think the new offense will, you know, force him to probably do it a little bit
42:41more, and that's where I think the comfort factor comes in.
42:44But, I mean, there's such huge opportunity here for Makai Lemon.
42:48So when you're talking about upside plays in this, I'm going to guess Jordan Tyson's probably around six pick based on his ADP.
42:55It wouldn't shock me if Makai Lemon is better.
42:58You know, just, again, looking at what their profiles are and quarterbacks and roles in offense.
43:03I think Jordan Tyson's a great prospect. I think his role in his offense is going to be fantastic, so it's not to knock him.
43:10But Lemon may end up just being in a better spot.
43:14And for every reason to love Devontae Smith, he's never had to be the alpha for a full season.
43:20It's three games over the course of the last two years that he's been that guy, and he's been fantastic.
43:26But Makai Lemon may end up being the best receiver of Philadelphia.
43:30I don't think that's the case. You should not draft to the case.
43:34I'm not saying that. But there is that potential for a guy being drafted in the first round for a team like
43:41Philadelphia trading up to go get him, knowing they're going to get rid of AJ Brown, understand him.
43:46But trading up to go get Makai Lemon for a reason.
43:50And I think they're going to feature him as much as they possibly can.
43:54Okay. Makai Lemon is a round eight pick, as you see.
43:58Carnell Tate is an early round six pick. Jordan Tyson is a late round six pick.
44:03Who's got the best value of those three rookie receivers, Dave?
44:06Carnell Tate, early round six. Jordan Tyson, late round six.
44:09And Makai Lemon, round eight. Tyson is the worst.
44:12I think Tyson and I think Lemon are closer to round nine or round ten.
44:17So by default, I will take Carnell Tate. Jamie, best value?
44:20I'll take the value of Lemon. I would rather have Tate over these guys.
44:24But, you know, going back to the Cardinals guys, like I would pay the two round difference for Marvin Harrison over Michael Wilson in this case.
44:33I would rather take Lemon two rounds later than Jordan Tyson.
44:36All right. Now we go to round nine. Round nine.
44:39And Ricky Pearsall, wide receiver, 45. Jacoby Myers, Jordan Addison, Wondale Robinson, Xavier Worthy.
44:44Ricky Pearsall, Jacoby Myers, Jordan Addison, Wondale Robinson, Xavier Worthy.
44:47I think I have every wide receiver at least one round higher.
44:50You really like this round, huh? I do. I love it.
44:54These were the receivers I was thinking about when we started the show.
44:58And I thought about, all right, these are receivers that could be potential wide receiver threes for your fantasy team.
45:04And you're getting them in the middle of your draft.
45:07Would you say you're on cloud nine? Nine. It's not quite seventh heaven.
45:11Yeah, but eight is great. It is great. We're on cloud nine.
45:15Okay. Who do you like the best, Dave? Who are your top three?
45:19Pearsall, Myers, Addison, Wondale, Worthy. I believe that I have Wondale in full PPR ranked the highest of this group.
45:25And it's based on everything that we've already talked about.
45:29The fact that he's not sharing with a tremendous alpha.
45:32And even if he was, he did it in 2024 with Malik Neighbors.
45:36And he still had huge target volume. And his role has changed since then.
45:40And he's probably a little bit better of a wide receiver now than he was two years ago.
45:46Pearsall's next, but the argument is all upside based.
45:49And then I've got Addison and Myers basically back to back.
45:52I currently have Addison one spot ahead. I could see Myers being a little bit safer and I might end up putting Myers ahead of Addison.
46:00Myers is another guy. I'm just not drafting. There isn't a great upside case to make for him unless it's all contingency based.
46:07Brian Thomas doesn't put it all together. Parker Washington was the flash in the pan.
46:12Jaguars have no choice but to up the targets for Jacoby Myers who could handle it.
46:17But last year in Jacksonville, 10 games, 11 PPR points per game, 6.5 targets per game.
46:22It's a little tough to see him being that much better this year.
46:26Yeah, I think it was the last six games when Brian Thomas Jr.
46:30came back after the ankle injury. Myers had a 25% target share.
46:34Parker Washington missed one of those games, played less than 56% of the snaps in three of the five games he played.
46:41So there is that. But Jacoby Myers definitely was a big part of the offense.
46:45And he's a good player. He'll probably outperform his ADP.
46:48ADP is wide receiver 46. Jacoby Myers does every year.
46:52Yeah, he'll probably outperform that. I just... I don't know.
46:55If I'm going to buy into Parker Washington, and I am to a degree, I just can't really get excited about Jacoby Myers.
47:02I don't know. This is a good round, but I think these...
47:06I personally think these guys deserve to be behind most of the players in front of them.
47:11Doesn't sound like Dave does. Jamie, how do you feel about it?
47:15Pearsall, Myers, Addison, Wandale, Worthy. Pearsall and Robinson should definitely go ahead of some of the guys in round eight.
47:21I think just looking at Robinson, the fact that he's still tied to Dable is important.
47:26I think the fact that Cardinal Tate has still proved something is important.
47:30I don't think Robinson matches anything close to his targets the last two years.
47:34I just don't think that's possible with Cam Ward and the offense they're going to run in Tennessee.
47:40But it could happen. And Pearsall is really just based on hope.
47:44You know, so can he ever... It's almost like what I was saying about Michael Wilson.
47:49Like, you know, totally different. I shouldn't say it.
47:52Pearsall is the hope that you get the type of player that we've seen flashes of.
47:57And so if that ever materializes, and again, he's had a hard time staying healthy.
48:01But age-wise, he's sharing the field with a 30-plus-year-old Mike Evans, a 30-plus-year-old George Kittle coming off an Achilles injury.
48:07And he's got the longest tenure of the, you know, top receiving options.
48:12I should say, of the wide receivers who are going to play.
48:15Because Stribling's a rookie and Evans and Christian Kirk are new to the team.
48:20So hopefully Pearsall can, you know, just stay on the field and start to produce.
48:24But I think Jordan Addison's an interesting case because we keep saying, oh, Justin Jefferson was great in the Carson Wentz games.
48:31Well, so was Jordan Addison. You know, he played really well when it wasn't J.J.
48:36McCarthy. And so hopefully Kyler Murray's presence and, you know, I hope not being ruined by Juwan Jennings' presence.
48:42But, you know, Jordan Addison can have an opportunity here to, you know, play at a high level hopefully and deliver on
48:49some of the things that we've seen from him, like you alluded to, whether it was the mailbag or this show.
48:55A lot of it has been touchdown-related in what he's accomplished.
48:59But that's still something to, you know, gravitate toward.
49:02So I think a lot of these guys on list, on each round, on this list, have the potential to pop.
49:08But just in terms of the round nine guys, you're hoping Wanda Robinson targets.
49:12Like he's, to me, just a cheap version of what we're expecting from Parker Washington and Josh Downs.
49:18And you can get him, you know, significant later than Washington and even later than Downs here.
49:23And Pearsall is more just hope. I do think that the Jacksonville scenario is very intriguing because we're going to sit here
49:30and say, hey, if Brian Thomas does this, if Parker Washington does that, and whatever Travis Hunter provides, like Jacoby Myers could
49:37just be the constant presence for this offense. Like you said, he played a lot.
49:42I think that's going to continue because the trade for him and the contract extension that they gave him.
49:48I think Myers stays on the field probably more than we want.
49:51So we'll see how that matters more so for maybe Thomas and Hunter because I do think Parker Washington stays on the field quite a bit as well.
50:00Myers is the kind of guy to me that has a really good five-game stretch.
50:05He never really puts it together for a full season, I guess.
50:09I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. No, I don't see him that way.
50:13He has one year in his career. He's 29.
50:16He'll be 30 in November. Jacoby Myers has one year in his career with more than 866 yards.
50:21He's usually in the 50 to 55 yards per game year.
50:25He had one really good year, 2024 with the Raiders.
50:28He averaged 67.4, 68.5 yards per game. Pardon me.
50:31When was that? After Adams was traded, right? Right.
50:33Yeah. Mostly. So he's had like half-year splits that are pretty good.
50:37Right. Yeah. And so it's not five games. It's like double that.
50:41Okay. Fair. But it's like something needs to happen in order for that split to reveal itself.
50:46And that's what I was kind of getting at with Jacksonville.
50:50If everybody stays healthy for the majority of the year and BTJ is better than he was last year, then it's the
50:56term Jamie's been using for 19 years. It's steady Eddie.
51:00He's probably in that 10 PPR range. Okay. Hmm.
51:02Let's talk about Xavier Worthy. We haven't really gotten to him.
51:06Didn't really get to see a lot of Xavier Worthy last season, at least the healthy version of Xavier Worthy.
51:12He got hurt in week one. When he came back, he wasn't running a normal route tree.
51:17He was limited by the injury. He finished his rookie season very strongly, but mostly if not all without Rasheed Rice.
51:24So I guess all. Jamie, how much hope do you have for Xavier Worthy?
51:28The last of these wide receivers in round nine, wide receiver 49.
51:32In ADP. The chiefs obviously have a lot of faith in Xavier Worthy because you got Rasheed Rice who went to jail
51:39and had another knee procedure and has all kinds of potential red flags surrounding his off field stuff.
51:45Travis Kelsey is 35 years old, going to be 36 in October.
51:48And they didn't do anything. You know, they went out and they got Cyrus Allen.
51:53You know, they, they didn't do anything to help this receiving core.
51:57And so I think that speaks to that. They are hoping, expecting, needing Xavier Worthy to play at a higher level.
52:03Now that doesn't mean he's going to be a great fantasy receiver because we haven't seen him do it consistently.
52:10And there's still, as of now, Kelsey back rice available, healthy, all things ready to go.
52:15So where does that leave him on a team that seemingly wants to run the ball a lot more after what they
52:21did this off season and going and get Kenneth Walker and Amari Di Mercado and drafting Emma Johnson.
52:27So plus you have my homes coming off an injury.
52:30So I think we're these appropriately priced. If you want to take him as early as round seven, I get it.
52:37If rice has another problem, health related or off field related, then his ADP will explode and, and worthy will hopefully play at a higher level.
52:45But that's the scenario that we went through last year and he couldn't stay on the field to open the season.
52:51So Taequann Thornton and these other guys are going to have to probably play more than I'm sure the chiefs want and probably more than fantasy managers want.
53:00But I think Xavier worthy is a good late round flyer just with the hope of maybe he can live up to the potential.
53:08I kind of, you know, again, I, I said this yesterday with, with a couple of guys to me, Xavier worthy and Matthew golden or the spider man.
53:16Like there's so much upside, so much potential. Um, will it ever materialize?
53:20That's what we're waiting to see. By the way, Travis Kelsey wishes he were 35 about to turn 36.
53:26He is 36 about to turn 37. Sorry. Did you hear you got married?
53:31I did. You know, I, I was gonna, I, I didn't want to bog the show down, but I was going to
53:38say, Hey, I got a good bit for you guys of, I was going to do, I was going to make Dave
53:44be Travis Kelsey and you be Taylor Swift. And I was going to marry you as Bobby Boucher.
53:50Oh, cause Adam Sandler married them, right? Right. Right.
53:53That sounded like the worst skit ever until you talked about Bobby Boucher.
53:57They would marry us. I was like, did, did, did, did you, mit, mit, mit, mit, mit, mit, the Kelsey take Taylor Swift?
54:04Like I take Vicky Valancourt to be my, my lawfully wedded wife, but I just couldn't think of like the funny stuff to add to it.
54:12Yeah. I don't even know what I would say as Taylor Swift, but it's not a bad, it's not a bad premise.
54:19I like where you're going with that. Uh, again, these round nine wide receivers are Pierce, all Jacoby Myers, Jordan Addison, Wanda Robinson, and Xavier worthy.
54:27Kelsey. I did see somebody like post on Twitter.
54:30Like, uh, he, he said to Taylor Swift, like, do you take Travis Kelsey, blah, blah, blah stuff.
54:36And then he turned to Kelsey and be like, skibbity doo.
54:39You know, like some stupid, just make him laugh.
54:42Uh, yeah, I, I like this group here and wide receivers fun, right?
54:46But it's weird because we're coming off this year.
54:49We say it all the time. Bad year for wide receivers, bad year for wide receivers.
54:54Yeah. Here we are talking about wide receivers 45 through 49 in round nine and being like, man, I can, I can get behind these guys.
55:02And there may not be that big of a difference between round nine and round seven, or maybe even round six.
55:08Um, yeah, that's a good question. Like how big of a difference is there between round seven and round nine, round seven
55:15being Sutton, Johnston and Pierce round nine being Pierce, all Myers, Addison, Wanda all worthy.
55:20But this is, this is the blob, right? So like, it's almost wide receiver 30 through 50.
55:25Like you can make strong arguments pro and con for each of these guys.
55:30Yeah. Yeah. I think it's, I think it's probably closer to like 40 through 55, something like that.
55:35And so I, I, to me, it just comes down to who do, who do you like, who do you think has
55:42a chance, uh, who's got huge upside and maybe a safe floor to go along with it.
55:47The stats are the guys you gravitate towards again.
55:50The stats would say who has huge upside is basically the same question as who can get seven targets per game.
55:57Right. Okay. So answer that question. And we did that to start the show.
56:01So yeah, but like Sutton, Johnston, Pierce, Addison, maybe worthy, maybe Michael Wilson, like Pierce all like that could be touchdowns more.
56:08So the targets that saved them for sure. Yeah.
56:11But they're going to need to score a hell of a lot of touchdowns to make up for a lack of targets, man.
56:18Godwin. What a rollercoaster I've been on with Chris Godwin last year was a rollercoaster.
56:23Remember the one game he came back the first time he came back and he looked unreal.
56:28And then every other game after that, he looked terrible.
56:31I don't remember that being the case. I remember him getting a ton of targets, but it's not necessarily thinking he looked
56:38unreal, but I could be, I thought he looked good in that.
56:42Remember we had an ADR touchdown and Adam hated it.
56:45Go. It's he's so slow. Um, I want to finish the year with five and a half targets per game.
56:51And he averaged about 11 people PR, I think a little more than 11 PPR points per game.
56:57So if you think he can get to six and a half targets per game, I think he's one of those guys that safe floor, decently high ceiling.
57:06I don't know about a mega ceiling, but a good solid top 24 type ceiling.
57:10It's not going to take much for me to be back on the Chris Godwin bandwagon.
57:15I just need to hear that. He's that he's healthy.
57:18So I know, I know he's healthy. Have you heard otherwise?
57:22No, no. I, I want to hear something like, I just wasn't myself last year.
57:26Now I'm fully back. And then, and then I really think he could be one of the true steals of the draft.
57:33Now he could say that and not mean it, but I put it this way.
57:38If he is back to being what he at, at the full strength of what he was in 2024, when he was
57:45the third best wide receiver per game in PPR, Chris Godwin is going to be the best value in fantasy.
57:51I mean, Evans is gone. Evans being gone is such a huge deal because this guy got all of the end zones
57:58and red zone and green zone targets. This is who Baker Mayfield looked at all the time.
58:03That guy being off the field is a, is a huge deal.
58:07Right. Which is why you're hoping that's a buka, but still Godwin could easily be that type.
58:12Right. Yeah. I mean, but right. You are hoping it's a buka.
58:16But like you said, it could be Jalen McMillan.
58:19You know, he's could be when, when those guys were hurt at the end of 2024, he was amazing.
58:25One other thing about that is that Baker Mayfield went from 7.9 yards per attempt to 6.8.
58:30He threw for, or the team threw for 750 fewer yards and 15 fewer touchdowns.
58:35When you look at bounce back wide receivers, you need bounce back quarterbacks to get there.
58:40Not always, but you, that's a, like a sort of a cheat code.
58:44I think the bucks could probably not going to get back to the 2024 levels, but certainly can be better than they were in 2025.
58:52I was, uh, just real life scenario. I took a Mecca buka and round five, uh, four of the fishbowl and through
58:59round six, I did not have a quarterback yet.
59:01And I was waiting to see, cause I'm picking two.
59:05So it was coming back the other direction. The manager picking at one also did not have quarterback yet.
59:10I was like, I'm going to take Derek off because I already committed to Gibbs and Laporta, but Baker was my fallback
59:17option to just sort of, you know, um, yeah, you know, marry him with, uh, with a book.
59:23And then I was going to try and see if I get gobbled on the way back.
59:28I have so many questions. First, the point of clarification earlier, I said, DK Metcalf had a low a dot with Aaron
59:35Rogers actually wasn't that low, but it was a career low for him, but it wasn't a super low a dot.
59:42Um, I have so many questions. You're in the Scott fishbowl.
59:45You don't have a quarterback. It's a super flex league.
59:48So it's not on, it's unusual that I have a quarterback in round six.
59:53How I am on pick 13 of the Scott fishbowl.
59:56How the hell are you in round five or six already?
59:59What is going on? This just started yesterday. Where are you?
60:03Eight. We're moving. We're cooking. It's almost to your advantage, Adam, to be in a slower draft.
60:08Oh, I love it. I love it. Yeah. Way more ADP information comes in that can help guide you.
60:14I mean, not just that, but I have a draft to look forward to for a while.
60:19I don't understand. That's not having a rookie draft to look forward to.
60:23Yeah. That'll happen at some point. You know, people in the Scott fishbowl, come on, let's hurry up.
60:29It's July 7th. We have not had one person be like, oh, you got on the clock.
60:34You got to go. Like this has been very organic.
60:37First time this happens. Very fun. I think it's not fun.
60:41I think you're, I think you're, I think what you've got a lot of drafts coming up.
60:46I think what you're doing is terrible. All right, everybody.
60:49Thanks so much for watching and listening. I get very impatient.
60:53So like, I have to stare at the thing constantly because I don't want to miss my picks.
60:58You want to hear what happened with me? I don't know if this actually.
61:03All right. So, so last night I played tennis and I was like on deck in the Scott fishbowl.
61:09So I put Trey McBride. It's a massive bonuses for tight ends.
61:12I put Trey McBride in my queue. Bowers was already off the board.
61:16And I, I forgot about the league and I log on it.
61:20I don't even know midnight or something. It was like 1030 after the soccer game.
61:25And I said, Oh, and it said the draft was paused and Drake may had been selected and the commissioner had removed
61:32Drake may from the pick and it was the pick before me, but I thought it was me.
61:37And I wrote, Oh damn. And I auto-picked. I had McBride in my queue.
61:42I figured it would select him. I'm sorry, everyone.
61:44Apologies for holding everyone up. And then someone said, no, someone who didn't, someone didn't pick.
61:49They were removed and they're looking for a replacement now.
61:53So I go, Oh, gotcha. Well then nevermind. I definitely do not have Trey McBride in my queue.
61:58I hate McBride. Right. So I totally gave away who I was going to pick.
62:03And of course the guy got added. What's that?
62:06Why would you do that? Because I thought that I auto-picked Drake.
62:09I thought I was on the clock. And they paused.
62:13I was just saying I had somebody in my queue, not who you had in your queue.
62:18Well, it doesn't matter. Cause I thought it was paused on my pick.
62:22I didn't realize it was the pick before me.
62:25So I thought I was on the clock. I was just going to take Trey McBride.
62:30And I, and anyway, they added the guy and he took McBride.
62:33So I don't know if he saw my chat or not, but it's probably because of you.
62:39I mean, you're the fantasy expert in there, right?
62:42I guess. I don't know if there are others, but I don't even know if these people know who I am.
62:48Everybody knows who you are. That's definitely not true.
62:51We'll see. We'll see. You're Dan Schneier's driver. I know you as Dave Azar's little brother.
62:56There you go. See? Famous. So is my mom.
62:59All right. Well, uh, we'll talk to you tomorrow on Fantasy Football Today.
