1:39What a play! Can you believe this? No, I can't.
1:42It's time to dominate your fantasy league. Off to the races!
1:45And he stays on his feet! He's just gonna go the distance!
1:48Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
1:51Yeah, and I thought it was gonna be a Thursday bag.
1:55But Dan has plans on Thursday. So it's a Wednesday mailbag.
1:58Welcome everybody to Fantasy Football Today. Dan, great to have you on, buddy.
2:02Yeah, it's great to be back on the bag.
2:05It's been a while. Listen, it's my birthday today.
2:07I wasn't gonna say anything to say. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
2:11So I couldn't think of a better way to spend my birthday than debating with you pre-show about all the stupid things
2:18we talked about and then rolling into a mailbag fresh like that.
2:21Yeah, I mean, Dan, Jamie, Dan is definitely one of those guys that, you know, it's my birthday.
2:27I don't say everyone make a big deal out of it.
2:30No, I'm not. Yeah, it is. I mean, if I invited people to come on the show on their birthday, anyone else
2:37that we do the show with, they wouldn't have even bothered telling me it was their birthday.
2:42You immediately were like, it's my birthday. Let's do it.
2:45That is so untrue. And that is not how that went down at all.
2:49But in typical mailbag fashion, I'll let you have this one.
2:52How old are you today? Oh, that I'm not saying on there.
2:56Okay. I said, can you do mailbag Thursday at 10?
2:59He said, not this Thursday. Can we do it next week?
3:02I said, yeah, I suppose so. I said, how about tomorrow?
3:05And he said, put an exclamation point at this.
3:08Yeah, let's do tomorrow. And then he put in caps, my B-Day, little B-Day bag, he said.
3:13So, yeah, I think. That just excitement about being, you know, having a mailbag on my birthday.
3:18It's something good to look forward to. Okay. Well, happy birthday.
3:22And come on, tell us how old you are.
3:24You're 36. No, no, no, no. We'll talk about this post-show.
3:28How is this a big deal? I just don't like it.
3:31I don't like doing personal info on the show.
3:34Not my thing. What? I've already exposed enough on this thing.
3:37Wow. Okay. You don't want to say old you are?
3:40That's amazing. I don't really want to. No. All right.
3:43Anyway. I feel old, Jamie. I feel old. That's why.
3:46You look old. The email address is fantasyfootball@cbsi.com. I'm wearing a 20-year-old shirt right now.
3:50That gives you an idea of how old I am.
3:53I was wearing a sweatshirt. It was my high school kind of shirt.
3:57I did this to intimidate you. Oh, okay. You were in high school 20 years ago.
4:02So that means he graduated. No, no. Then I miscounted.
4:05I'm not 38 yet. So you got it right the first time.
4:09Okay. Okay. Email address is fantasyfootballatcbsi.com. The letter I.
4:11And we're going to get to a few Dynasty and Keeper questions, but mostly try to keep questions that are helpful for a lot of people.
4:19News and notes. Josh Jacobs arrested, charged with several domestic violence charges.
4:23And obviously we don't know what this is going to mean for him.
4:27Jamie, it's not the deepest running back room in Green Bay.
4:30So who would you be looking at there if Jacobs were to be suspended?
4:34Today would be Christopher Brooks. We'll see if Marshawn Lloyd is going to get healthy.
4:39He's had a hard time staying healthy since coming into the NFL two years ago.
4:43This feels like an easy connect the dots between two brothers making a trade between the LaFleurs from Arizona to Green Bay.
4:50So would not be surprised if this is a James Conner, Trey Benson destination to the Packers to get some more depth
4:56in that running back room and alleviate some of the crowded running back room in Arizona.
5:01So it could be Alvin Kamara. You know, could see that situation as well.
5:05But my guess is that this is going to be something that they have to, you know, look into.
5:11To me, the one that makes the most sense would be Trey Benson because he's easily expendable in Arizona.
5:17You get a young running back that may have some upside.
5:20They could get out of Jacobs' contract, you know, just seeing some stuff yesterday if this is bad and they want to move on from him.
5:28They can get out of his contract relatively easy within the next year or so.
5:32And so maybe Benson is the guy that they could build around if they so choose.
5:37But, I mean, obviously this is a running back room that is missing some depth and some proven depth, you know, after moving on from Emmanuel Wilson.
5:45So definitely a situation you have to monitor. I just, you know, getting ahead of it a little bit.
5:51Josh Jacobs was a late round two pick for me.
5:54Now he's a mid-round three pick. So he's probably going to continue to slide.
5:58I wonder if we finally say hello to the ghost of Marshawn Lloyd.
6:02Remember him from Dynasty Drafts a few years ago?
6:05Just injured his whole career but had a lot of hype coming out and was viewed as somebody who could be like
6:11a change of pace at one point. But I don't know what's going on there with Green Bay.
6:17Just thinking back to the backs that we've had success in that scheme and in that system, Jacobs and Wilson, I don't necessarily feel like Benson's a fit.
6:25I do understand why you'd mention him. I think they're going to go a different direction.
6:30I'm just not quite sure yet who it's going to be.
6:33I just think the type of back it's going to be is going to fit with the Jacobs-Wilson mold.
6:39I just was thinking, you know, younger of the guys there that are expendable.
6:43I mean, look, if they can get Connor or Kamara or guys that, you know, can adapt and have experience in different
6:49systems per se, more so with Connor than Kamara.
6:52But, you know, looking at just they're in win-now mode, you know.
6:56So, you know, trying to find a long-term solution isn't probably what they need the most right now.
7:01It's who can help us in 2026. And maybe Connor makes the most sense there.
7:06Yeah. And we don't know what will happen. Let the legal process play out for Josh Jacobs.
7:11And we'll see. Okay. Patrick Mahomes participated in OTAs.
7:13Not to say that he was, you know, doing everything, but good to see him back on the football field.
7:19Yeah. Nico Collins got a raise. That's also good.
7:22Seattle wide receiver Torrey Horton's been dealing with an injury.
7:25He could return at the end of spring. And Jacksonville's offensive coordinator said that Parker Washington is capable of repeating and even
7:32exceeding what he did at the end of last year.
7:35And one of the beat writers for the Jaguars is John Shipley.
7:38Yep. He said Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. had great days in the first day of OTAs.
7:43He also said Bachel Tutin had a great day.
7:46And he said Trevor Lawrence is going to have great.
7:49It was a very optimistic article. But he did single out.
7:52It's your favorite time of year, Adam. Best shape of your life season.
7:56Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. But yeah, he did single out Parker Washington as having a really strong debut in the opening day of OTAs.
8:03He'll be one of the more interesting picks in all fantasy, in my opinion, going into this redraft season.
8:09Top five most interesting player. He's not. His ADP won't move to a point where, in my opinion, it will reflect what his upside can be.
8:17But obviously, there's the possibility that because Brian Thomas was so hurt and all the other factors that played into the last
8:23season, that's why the volume was where it was at last year.
8:27I think when you watch him, though, he gets open with ease.
8:30And some people have said it's similar to the paths of players like Amon Ross, St.
8:35Brown, and players who maybe not on paper look like the flashiest, best receivers in the NFL.
8:40They just know how to uncover. And the quarterback trusts them and goes back to them over and over again.
8:46I don't think his ADP will rise to a point where it will match what his upside can be.
8:52It's honestly the most fascinating wide receiver room. Yeah.
8:55You know, you can make a case for all three of their top guys why they should be the first one taken.
9:01You know, Thomas with his one season is – I don't think anybody can get to there of the other two guys.
9:08You know, you want to throw Travis Hunter in their three guys.
9:11But Washington, can he do it again? Can he do it again after what he did last year?
9:17And so far, it seems like he's off to a great start, and I agree with Dan.
9:22And then Jacoby Meyer's resume obviously speaks for itself.
9:25Right. And so just what he's been able to accomplish.
9:28It's a good problem to have here at Jacksonville.
9:30It's very frustrating for us just knowing that you may take a swing at a receiver in this group, and you may
9:37miss just because the other guy or two guys are better simply because of what they are capable of doing.
9:43Yeah. All right. That was Parker Washington that we were talking about there mostly.
9:47All right, Dan, I have a challenge for you.
9:50You missed one big one, what Todd Bowles said about Bucky Irving.
9:53Oh. Injury timeline? Yeah, go ahead. Yeah, it's terrible.
9:56I mean, the fact that he says – I don't know if anybody knows how seasons work, but he said he could be the summer or the fall.
10:04The fall. The fall. Pretty bad. What is – Adam, because the resident person who weighs in and makes decisions on what
10:11morning is, what afternoon is, things of that nature, what is considered the fall to you?
10:16Yeah, I think fall is basically when football starts.
10:19I would say – The first week? Labor Day is fall.
10:22Labor Day is the beginning of fall. Labor Day is fall.
10:25Interesting. That's early for fall. I would say that winter is probably like December 1st.
10:30That I'm more on board with than the Labor Day fall call because I feel like when we get closer to Halloween,
10:36that's when it feels like fall to me. I mean, honestly, like once school starts again for the kids, I feel like summer is over.
10:44You're on that calendar. I get that. Yeah. So you guys in the Northeast, you still have good weather and Labor Day weekend.
10:51So it's – True. That's my point. Like we're still in that summer feel Labor Day weekend.
10:56Labor Day weekend? Is it hot or is it fall-y?
10:59It's usually hot, dude. Okay. I don't know. I just feel like when football starts, when school starts, it's fall.
11:05Yeah, I think Frank in the chat said it best.
11:08Summer is Memorial Day to Labor Day. Yeah. Yeah.
11:10I like it. Exactly. I think in regards to the Bucs, you know, Dan was just talking about ADP.
11:16This is going to be some wild swings in best ball drafts.
11:20Oh, yeah. Because, you know, if you're hoping that Bucky Irving is still going to be the guy there and is healthy,
11:26this is going to drop his ADPs, I don't think significantly, but enough that it's, you know, a good value to take a chance on him.
11:34It's also going to push up the value of Kenneth Gainwell and even Sean Tucker.
11:39And does that get out of hand a little bit?
11:41So, you know, you have a new offensive coordinator coming in in Zach Robinson.
11:46He did great things throwing the ball to Bijan Robinson.
11:49Now, obviously, there's not a Bijan Robinson in this backfield, but there is a very good pass-catching running back in this backfield.
11:55And so Gainwell is going to be, I think, probably overpriced at some point where it becomes like, why are you taking
12:02such a huge swing at this guy if he's not going to be a full-time guy?
12:07That being said, if Bucky misses significant time, you might get a steal with Gainwell.
12:11So it's going to be an interesting one to track.
12:14It was funny because it's still in my eliminator draft, and the news happens right after I pick Josh Jacobs.
12:20And the next pick after me was Christopher Brooks.
12:23And a few picks later was Sean Tucker. Now, I had taken Gainwell earlier prior to the Bucky news, you know, a
12:29few rounds ago, which is like two weeks ago.
12:32And it was because I was just hoping for some cheap receptions.
12:36You may get a lot of cheap receptions if Bucky misses a lot of time.
12:40The eliminator leagues, by the way, they're charity leagues for fantasy cares.
12:44They are guillotine league, best ball guillotine league. So they're 18-team leagues.
12:47And, you know, you can draft coaches. You can draft punters.
12:51It's tight end premium, all that. I'll be on the clock in about – I'm like seven picks away.
12:56I'll probably be on the clock in about three days.
12:59They go pretty slow, but I'm in round 12 now.
13:02Okay. Anyway, those are your news and notes. Dan, now, are you ready for your birthday challenge?
13:07Yeah, what is it? Promote Beyond the Box score in 20 seconds or less.

13:42Oh, I have a big what grinds my gears.
13:44Okay. Let's do a little grinds my gears segment toward the end.
13:48All right. I'm going to put it in the notes right now before Fantasy Cops.

15:57Progressive Casualty Insurance Company and Affiliates. National average 12-month savings of $946 by new customers surveyed who saved with Progressive between June 2024 and May 2025.
16:05Potential savings will vary. Let's talk about Devon A-Chan.
16:07Devon A-Chan in three seasons. That is Devon ETN.
16:10In three seasons, he's been the number four running back per game, the number six running back per game in full PPR
16:17in 2024, but number 11 in half PPR. And last year, he was number five or six per game in all three formats.
16:24Bill's email speaks to something that Jamie talked about in our FFT Express busts episode.
16:28He says, I have some concerns regarding Malik Willis' playing style and how it might impact Devon A-Chan's performance.
16:34Given that Willis tends to either scramble for a deep pass or run the ball himself, he doesn't seem to frequently check
16:40down or pitch the ball to his running backs.
16:43Do you think this poses a significant risk to A-Chan's ceiling, or do you expect Miami to design specific outlets to ensure
16:50A-Chan remains a productive part of the offense? Before Jamie answers, and then Dan, I will tell you that, Bill, you are
16:56right to be concerned about Malik Willis based on, I think, 144 throws or something like that.
17:01He's really barely thrown the ball in four seasons, but he's never thrown more than 23 passes in a game.
17:07He's made six starts. He's never thrown more than 23 passes.
17:11That's startling. He also has one of the lowest running back target rates of any quarterback that's thrown 150, maybe it's 154
17:17passes, whatever, 150 or more passes in the last four years.
17:21But he has had Derek Henry and Josh Jacobs as his primary running backs.
17:25But Jamie, you do have concerns about this, so you can kick it off.
17:29I mean, it started to show itself a little bit when Tua was benched at the end of last season that the targets went down for him.
17:37I don't know about the route participation, but the targets went down for Devon A-Chan.
17:42And I think you just look at it as the positive in this scenario is the team stinks.
17:47On paper, the team is absolutely abysmal. So why would you not feature your best player as much as you possibly can?
17:54And, you know, you're looking at it as if anybody can guess right now who the top three receivers are going to
18:00be in week one, kudos to you because it's, to me, it's still a guessing game.
18:05We don't know who the first three receivers are of the step chart because there isn't anybody that stands out, at least again on paper, above the rest.
18:13We'll get some answers going into camp, but obviously that's the case.
18:17So I think just looking at it as A, hopefully they, or the pro is that they should feature him in the
18:23passing game as much as possible as a guy that's averaged over 70 catches in each of the last two seasons and
18:30over 80 targets each of the last two seasons.
18:33That being said, you have a quarterback that wants to use his legs that they're probably going to have a lot of
18:39design runs for that when things break down, he's going to use his legs to, you know, get out of trouble as
18:46opposed to the immobile Tua and certainly the design throws from Mike McDaniel that favored Devon HN.
18:51So I think there's a decrease in his passing downs work coming to some degree.
18:56And then this is sort of another layer to it.
18:59This team is not competing this year. This team doesn't want to compete this year.
19:03They've kind of laid out that blueprint for you.
19:06So I'm thrilled that they paid HN. I don't know how much they want to run this kid into the ground knowing
19:12that their blueprint is to compete 2027 and beyond.
19:15So it's just all factors into it. Then you take away the potential of increased touchdown chances versus now decreased touchdown chances
19:22because the team's going to be bad. It just feels like we're headed toward a struggling season for him.
19:27So he's going to make a lot of great plays.
19:30He's obviously an electric player. It doesn't take much for him.
19:34One or two runs to save your fantasy day and then if the catcher is still there, we're great.
19:39But I just think we're seeing a decline coming for him.
19:43So the people that are pro, Devon HN are going to say all this work is going to be there for him.
19:49He's the whole offense. For me, it's a little bit more of the negative side of things that I see too much.
19:56Dan, he's so good. I think the question is that let's say he has 50 catches or something.
20:01That feels like a lot. You think that's a lot?
20:04Can he still be a first-round player with 50 catches?
20:0750 would be a lock first-round player, I think.
20:10What did he have, Stephanie, over the last two seasons you said, Jamie?
20:14He averaged over I believe it was 72 catches each of the last two seasons.
20:18Each of the last two seasons, yeah. That was that.
20:21Well, no. He had 78 catches in 17 games in 2024.
20:24He had 67 catches in 16 games last year.
20:27Okay. So about that. So he'd be a bit of a drop-off.
20:31I still don't think he'll get it. 86 targets and 72 and a half catches the past two seasons.
20:36What does that mean? I don't think he's getting to that number just based on what I've seen from Sloic.
20:42But I do think the efficiency could go up in the run game because there is the potential for them to work in zone.
20:50I don't know, man. He led the NFL last year in yards per carry.
20:54Yeah. But he's been at like that since his days at A&M.
20:57Like he's been a dominant player from a yards per carry standpoint forever.
21:01It's not just something new for him. He's a great running back.
21:05But I'm saying that because their offensive line took such a big jump last year.
21:09I believe they were one of the better run blocking units in the NFL and then they added Caden Proctor in the strap with the first round.
21:17So I don't think it's impossible to suggest that Sloic can design something where they're using more zone read with Willis.
21:24The DNs can't crash down on A&M because they have to respect Willis' possibility of keeping the ball and running to the outside.
21:31And that just creates some more gaps for A&M.
21:33That's the positive case. I don't think there's any scenario where he's going to match the receptions he's got.
21:39And I'd actually be surprised if he even gets to 50 personally.
21:43And then the question becomes like, you know, if he's getting even 50 or 40 receptions, are they the same kinds that McDaniel designed for him?
21:50Because McDaniel was really good at just designing different types of options for A&M.
21:55If you watch back those Dolphins' offense last couple of years, it's not just like check down to A&M if, you know,
22:01Tua doesn't like what he sees through his first and second progression.
22:05It's not just a swing pass or a swing route.
22:08There were these specific routes designed for A&M vertically speaking and, you know, wheel routes, different types of option routes, angle routes,
22:14because they were utilizing his ability to see. I'm not saying Bobby Sloan can't do that, but Mike McDaniel was really good at doing that.
22:22I've seen a lot of coaches who aren't as good at that and Bobby Sloan, nothing he showed me, you know, from
22:28what I watch in Houston tells me he's going to be that guy.
22:32So I think the receiving profile will come down to a point where he's slightly a bit of an overpay at current
22:39ADP, but I don't mind drafting him where he's at.
22:42A-chan or let's say half PPR, A-chan or Derek Henry?
22:45A-chan. Half. I think it's still A-chan for me.
22:48Listen, this isn't to suggest, obviously, I'm pretty negative and Dan's not far behind.
22:52I think it's just a matter of what your expectations are.
22:55So you say first round pick, Adam, we'll see where his ADP settles.
22:59I think right now it's sort of at the turn, depending on what sites you look at.
23:04So I think when you start to say, okay, him versus McCaffrey, for example, you've got to build in the risk for McCaffrey.
23:11Him versus the two sophomore running backs that are coming off either injury or disappointing seasons in Gentey and Hampton.
23:17I think that's a good place to start. Chase Brown, and people concerned about can he do it again?
23:23I don't know why you still have those concerns, but can he do it again?
23:27So this is where I think A-chan starts to come into play.
23:31So I think if you're taking him in round two, you're sort of building in the risks of what it could be.
23:37It's where he was, I think, at the start of this process for a lot of people.
23:42Was he the third running back? Was he the fourth running back?
23:46Was he an easy first-round pick? We had the conversation with Dave.
23:50Remember, Dave was talking himself out of it as we were breaking it down.
23:54There's just a few concerns, I think, when you look at what his ceiling is.
23:58I don't think he's played at his ceiling. I don't think he'll fall from his ceiling if everything is working out well
24:05for him, but I just fear that everything's not going to work out well for him.
24:10We see this with these terrible teams, and sometimes guys are still really good, but this just feels like it's going to be a really terrible team.
24:18Let's go to our next question here. It's about running backs that are busts, and it is from Brian.
24:24He says, hey, Daniel, Pierce, Sean, and Timothy. Pierce?
24:26Daniel, Pierce, Sean, and Timothy. Not my question. Nope, can't get it.
24:30Jamie? Done trying. Oh, come on, guys. These are James Bonds.
24:33I don't know who Timothy is. Oh, yeah. No.
24:36Mickey Dalton. I've seen at least one of the Bonds.
24:39I'm trying to think how many Bonds I've seen.
24:41Maybe one or two tops, and it's a long time ago when I was a kid.
24:46I haven't seen that many, but the first Daniel Craig one is the poker one.
24:51Casino Royale. I never saw the poker one, which I did.
24:54It's so good. It's so good. Okay. Brian says, these slam dunk no-brainer locks of Bijan and Gibbs at one and two
25:01have me both excited and terrified of landing a top pick in this year's draft.
25:05It's just never that easy. Can you guys research the last 15 years of fantasy and share the results of the top
25:12two consensus running backs for each season? Would love to see how they actually perform.
25:16considering the riskiness of the position and the dreaded bust potential.
25:20Okay. I did the last 10 years. I did not do the last 15 years.
25:24There were a decent amount of busts. So we're talking 20 running backs.
25:28Let's see how many of them were busts. One, two, three, four, I'd say four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11.
25:3411 of 20 were busts. Wow. Now, and who are they?
25:38I'll give you the performance busts. The performance busts were Todd Gurley in 2016, Saquon Barkley in 2019, Saquon Barkley again last
25:44year, Dalvin Cook in 2021, Jonathan Taylor in 2022, Austin Eckler in 2023.
25:48The other performance busts or that was the ankle injury?
25:51Which one? 2022 for Todd. So, right. I mean, technically, he played hurt.
25:55So did Barkley, right? Barkley in his second season.
25:58In fact, three of those five performance busts, or six performance busts, because Eckler too.
26:02He had a huge week one. He went 16 carries, 117 yards and a touchdown, four catches, 47 yards, and I believe
26:09he had a high ankle sprain in week one.
26:12Right. And then he struggled. So the only reason I called them performance busts was they didn't, it wasn't like Christian McCaffrey who played three games.
26:19It wasn't like Le'Veon Bell who sat out the year.
26:22David Johnson played one game. You know, so we had guys who played one, three, four, seven games.
26:28These guys played at least 11 games, 13 games, 14 games, and they struggled.
26:32But I would say the good news is most of these busts were injury related.
26:36If not completely injuries, it was they played hurt throughout the year.
26:40So that was the good news. Bad news is there were 11 players who didn't even come close, didn't even come close
26:47to finishing as a top two running back of the last 20 who were drafted to be that way.
26:52Yeah, I mean, this is the anti-fragility argument that we've gone over in the past on this show.
26:58And you hate that argument, Adam. But when you draft running back, there's a bigger chance of injury.
27:03So you're making a bigger investment with a bigger upside because if a running back hits, he's going to be outscoring the
27:10receiver almost every time, especially if they have the receiving profile there, the running back, but you have a better chance to bust.
27:17So it's up to you as a fantasy player, how you like to play that.
27:21It's also when you're looking at these two in particular, they are right at the, I don't want to say the middle
27:28of their prime, but I think still on the front side of their prime.
27:32And so especially in the case of Gibbs, this is what we were waiting for.
27:36We were waiting for David Montgomery to be out of the way.
27:40And look, Isaiah Pacheco is going to do some of the things that Montgomery did, but he's not Montgomery.
27:46So now the runway is as clear as it can get.
27:49And in the case of Bijan, like, which is why I think most people still prefer Bijan where I still think someone
27:56in the minority of taking Gibbs over over Bijan is that Bijan is coming off this amazing season.
28:01So what this high end profile and stud coming out of college struggle a little bit as rookie campaign.
28:07The last two years have been absolutely awesome. And no Algier, finally.
28:10Right. You know, so, you know, you're looking at just two guys that have, barring injury, the chance to be absolute superstars.
28:17I would say that this conversation also, you have to like, let me tell you who the top five wide receivers in ADP were last year.
28:25You're going to talk about running backs being so risky.
28:28Jamar Chase, CD Lamb, Justin Jefferson, Malik Neighbors, Amon Ross St.
28:31Brown. Three of those guys were busts. One of them tore his ACL.
28:35So, I just went back while you were speaking, sorry, I wasn't really listening, and looked at the wide receivers over the last four or five years.
28:43There are a lot, there are a decent amount of busts there too.
28:47That's happen more lately. I've done the research and looked at round one and two running backs.
28:52I haven't done top two overall, but round one and two running backs versus round one and two wide receivers, running back has actually been a safer pick.
29:00They finish top 12 at their position at a higher frequency than the wide receivers drafted in the first two rounds.
29:07Or maybe it was in the top, yeah. So, I think I've pretty much through my research personally feel like I've dispelled
29:13this myth that running backs are riskier than wide receivers.
29:16I would say another thing that some of these busts had in common, these running back busts, is that some of them
29:23were on offenses that really you know, that 2016 Todd Gurley, he was actually on the worst offense in the NFL or
29:29the second worst offense in both his rookie season when he was good and his second season when he was bad.
29:36Saquon Barkley, that wasn't really, I'll skip that one.
29:38But Jonathan Taylor, his team went from 11th in scoring to 32nd.
29:42Austin Eckler's team went from 10th to 20th. Justin Herbert didn't have a very good year.
29:47So Saquon Barkley's team went from winning the Super Bowl to being pretty disappointing last year.
29:51So to me, I flip-flopped on this, but actually doing this today, Gibbs is number one for me over Bijon because I,
29:58look, the Lions, they have some offensive line concerns, I think, but I have a lot more faith in their offense than I do the Falcons.
30:06All right, question from Tom Cruise, spelled C-R-U-I-Z-E, Tom Cruisey.
30:09Do any of you guys get in ruts where you put fantasy on the back burner, like the motivation isn't quite there?
30:15I found myself here the past few months. I still listen to all the shows, but I'm looking to get hyped up for the upcoming season.
30:23Any advice? Dan, hype him up. Hype Tom Cruise up.
30:26I don't know if I've ever gotten in a fantasy rut with football, but I can totally relate because this happens to me every year with fantasy baseball.
30:35I just get in a total rut, and then preseason for the NFL rolls around, training camp, and all the intrigue from
30:41there, and I'm just out of the league at that point in baseball, and I'm not even a factor, and I blow it.
30:48But I think to get back into it, maybe you can start listening to Beyond the Box Score.
30:53It's a fun little show over here on Fantasy Football today.
30:57Are you kidding? That is, you've gone over your 30 seconds now.
31:00It's my birthday. I'm allowed to do something like that.
31:03That's true. I think it's fine to be in a rut, but it's May.
31:08It's May 27th. Yeah, don't worry about it yet.
31:10What you need is a training camp highlight to hit some player that you love, and he breaks it, you know, something
31:17fun, he does some crazy thing, and now he's moving up the depth chart.
31:21You need something like that. You need intrigue. Or Dynasty League.
31:24Play Dynasty. Dynasty keeps you involved. Right, or maybe you need something like maybe it's your favorite player's birthday or something like that.
31:31Oh, speaking of birthdays, it happened to be Dan's birthday today.
31:35My next question is from Kevin. Jamie, Kevin says, why do you all do mock drafts when best ball drafts are available?
31:41It's like poker for play money instead of real money.
31:44Oh. I mean, best ball drafts are awesome. We probably don't talk about it enough, so we can do a little bit better job of doing that.
31:52I think just in the case of what our audience is and what most people, I think, come to us to look
31:59for is season-long fantasy, Dynasty fantasy content, things of that nature.
32:02But yeah, we obviously mentioned it. I think I mentioned it earlier in regards to our draft, but yeah, strategy in regards to it.
32:09I think just in terms of the drafts that we do, we're doing it more so for the majority of what people play for this game.
32:17Right. How different do you think a typical best ball draft right now would look from a typical 12-team PPR mock draft?
32:24They're not that far off. I think the biggest thing is...
32:27The back end looks more different. Huh? The back end of the draft looks more different.
32:32The front end looks... You know, you're shooting... And obviously, rules matter too.
32:36You know, so... Yeah. You know, in an eliminator versus, you know, season-long situation.
32:40But I think just in the... The biggest thing for me is the stacking.
32:44You know, so in best ball drafts, you're trying to win weeks.
32:48And the best way to win weeks is stacking.
32:50But that doesn't always work in redraft leagues. Well, Dan says rules matter.
32:54But I think what we've learned is that for Dan, rules don't really matter because if he breaks the rules, he's just
33:01going to complain loudly about the rules for two weeks.
33:04And... Oh, no, no, no, no, no. We're not doing that.
33:07We're not doing that today because that's not true.
33:10And I'll just be honest with all of you here.
33:13We've heard a lot of... We've had a lot of people reach out and I have proof.
33:18I've been collecting the evidence and cutting stuff up, sending a few here and there to you guys.
33:23And people were on my side with that whole debate.
33:26Nobody likes Heath's rule. I don't think so. Nobody likes his rule.
33:30Terrible rule. I definitely think that the rule... What else to say?
33:33The rule is worth revisiting. Oh, yeah. Yeah. How you approach the draft...
33:37But what was I supposed to do, Jamie? So the first thing I did, just to be clear, just to clarify...
33:44No, no, no, Adam. No, no, no. You bring it up and I get my chance.
33:48Okay? You already had it. You already had your No, no, no, no, no.
33:53You're going to hang me out dry like that without people knowing the context?
33:57The first thing I did was trade back and give up my pick in round two.
34:02And he lost Emmitt Johnson. If you heard, Emmitt Johnson was number two running back and he lost...
34:07Right. And I don't need to say all that again.
34:10The point being, I didn't complain about that. The next thing I did, I did two things.
34:15Somebody proposed a trade to me and he texted me and he's like, dude, I did the same thing as you.
34:21I didn't even know about the roster thing. Now I can't make my picks.
34:26I think I found a way around the system because in our minds, and I thought this was in the Heath minds
34:32too, I thought we all agreed this is a pretty stupid thing that you can't drop a player to draft a player.
34:39No, apparently not. We don't know. You screwed up though.
34:42You screwed up and not checking what the I already admitted I screwed up, quote unquote.
34:47Yeah, that's a stupid rule. It's a disingenuous admission because I don't really...
34:50It is very disingenuous. Yeah, you don't even believe it.
34:53It's not the rule though. The rule where you screwed up has nothing to do with the rules.
34:59Where you screwed up was not paying attention. I tried, Jamie.
35:02I've tried to change the email settings. It won't come to my email.
35:06It's not about that though. Listen, my emails are not working either.
35:10So you just know when the draft is. I should have known when the draft is.
35:14That's fine. As I asked you on the last episode you were on, I said you play enough dynasty leagues to know
35:21that right after the NFL draft, there are rookie drafts and he had posted messages.
35:25You should have gone to the message board and saw what the deal was and made the proper adjustments.
35:31I already admitted I was wrong on that. Let's move on.
35:34I strongly disagree with what Andy said. Cutting down a team to accommodate an incoming draft like a standard practice.
35:40No, it's not. Every other dynasty league I'm in has expanded rosters and you don't make cuts until close to the season just like an NFL roster.
35:49So this is not standard practice. This is the only...
35:52I'm in 12 dynasty leagues. Only he's leagues play like this.
35:55And everyone who I've talked to since has agreed with me on that.
35:5912 dynasty leagues? Yeah, 12. Wow. At least seven of them are best ball though, which helps.
36:04Make it easier. All right. Some of them are three with us.
36:07Yeah, three with you guys. Right. We're taking a break.
36:10We're taking a break. We got some keeper questions.
36:13We got some fantasy cops. We have... You know what really grinds my gears?

37:14Keeper question from Alex. Would you rather keep Bejal Tootin in the 10th round or Jonathan Brooks in the 14th round, assuming
37:20we get through training camp and Brooks is healthy and looks good?
37:24So Brooks has been a big winner so far in OTAs.
37:27You know, I know you didn't mention him with the news and notes, but he's moving well, looking like he's, you know, over the knee injury.
37:35Again, it's in shorts and, you know, no tackling, but that's a really positive sign.
37:40So what was the question again? I'm sorry. Tootin in the 10th or Jonathan Brooks in the 14th?
37:45I mean, right now, I think I'd go Tootin because the draft compensation is close enough that you're taking the chance on
37:52the guy that could definitely be the starter versus the guy that might be the starter or might need an injury to be the starter.
37:59I feel like they're going to give Chuba Hubbard a pretty long leash and let Brooks work his way back into it
38:06before we see the best of Jonathan Brooks or at least the full scope of what he can do.
38:11So for me, I would lean Tootin even though it could be a timeshare with Chris Rodriguez.
38:16All right. Next question. Kind of fantasy, Copsie. It's from Ace.
38:20He said, listening to your conversation about league rules for Dynasty Draft, I wanted to address dropping a kicker midweek for a
38:26pickup and then picking up a kicker by game time for a full roster.
38:31Is that something you all look at as cheating?
38:33If I understood your conversation correctly, in my leagues, this happens all the time and is allowed as long as you have a full team by game time.
38:42That's not cheating. I think it's right. I think it's pretty close to cheating.
38:46I mean, it depends on what your what your roster limitations are.
38:49Most of the leagues we play in on CBS or most leagues I run on CBS.
38:54I don't want to speak for anybody. Most leagues I run on CBS, you have roster limitations so you can't do this.
39:01Right. So it, you know, I mean, this is a workaround of getting away with carrying another player and then making a
39:07decision later in the week so you're holding a player from somebody else because you don't have your quote unquote lineup filled properly.
39:14All right. Yeah, I look for example, you know, I'm sure Jake will love this.
39:19Jake Sealy would love this conversation. If you don't have kickers, you can't get away with this.
39:24Exactly. If you don't have kickers, sure. I don't play in, I play in barely any leagues with kickers at this point.
39:30Ace also asks, do you confidently draft? What? No, I'm just thinking if I play in any leagues with kickers at this point.
39:37All right. Jay Ace also asks, do you confidently draft DeAndre Swift without Kyle Mononga guy this year considering the usage as a rookie and being drafted?
39:45Yeah. Anyway, also, that's a question. Do you draft Swift without Mononga guy and which Jags and Bucks receivers are you targeting?
39:52So you, the question is, do they need Mononga?
39:55I'm sorry. Do you draft? If you draft Swift, do you do it without Mononga?
39:59Do you feel like you have to handcuff him?
40:02Those are independent players for sure. I mean, I think it's similar to the Jacksonville situation.
40:07When I think about Toon and Rodriguez, I think the answer is yes.
40:11You look at those two run games, Ben Johnson and Liam Cohen, the best designs in football right now from a run scheme standpoint.
40:18That's what the tape said last year. You watch it and you see it.
40:22It's so abundantly clear. So I want all four of those guys to me are good bets at cost.
40:28For the second question, I'm going in on a book of this year.
40:32I've been reading a lot on what this new offensive coordinator is saying about what's going to happen.
40:37And it felt like he was kind of pigeonholed into a role last year that they don't envision is the best for
40:44his skillset, the best at getting him targets. And this year, they feel more free because obviously Evans is gone, but they have a different plan.
40:51They might even get Hearst out there at the X early, which would excite me because I've been watching and it looks
40:58like he's off to a fast start. So a book is the guy I'm targeting there.
41:03I'm really high on him going into this year.
41:05As far as the Jags go, I'm a Parker Washington guy, but I'm okay getting Myers at value.
41:11I don't think I'll be back in on Brian Thomas Jr.
41:14Even at the depressed value. I'll go back to what I said about the Jaguars a couple of weeks ago, where if
41:21you're comfortable with your wide receiver group and they're all still on the board, the one with the most upside to me is still Thomas.
41:28So if I don't need to play any of them right away, I'd want to see what Thomas can potentially become.
41:34If I need somebody, I think to help me right away, I'll probably go to Washington or Myers first, because I think
41:41those are going to be kind of constant numbers without just, you know, the, the potential of getting to that high end
41:48ceiling, you know, Washington can do it. Myers can do it.
41:51But again, I think if they all hit their ceilings, Thomas is the best.
41:55So if I just want to see what can possibly be a league winner at a cheap price, it would still be Thomas first for me.
42:03Agree with Dan wholeheartedly on, excuse me, on a book.
42:06And I think, you know, when you look at there, there's obviously a lot of, I don't want to say the Bears
42:13backfield is, is an ambiguous backfield, but I kind of look at the Bears backfield, the Rams backfield kind of similar.
42:19Like you're, you can get Kyle Mononga and Blake Corum and they could be flex options for you depending on how your team looks, especially in larger leagues.
42:27There's going to be scenarios where Corum outscores Kyron.
42:30There's going to be scenarios where Mononga outscores Swift.
42:33And then you have the injury upside that if, if the starter quote unquote starter misses, misses any time like I could
42:39be a top 10 running back, you know, Blake Corum can be a top 10 running back.
42:44So you want to have those guys if you can't.
42:47So some, we have a comment in the chat says Parker Washington's target share was insane when all the wide receivers were
42:54on the field, all in on Parker. And that's actually not true.
42:57Well, you know what? Let me, let me put it differently.
43:01Thomas was really never healthy. That's like in the last six games when Brian Thomas came back from injury, Brian, you know,
43:07Jacoby Myers had a 25%, 24.6% target share. Now Parker Washington, it's hard.
43:11He did have an 18.7% target share, but he missed a game and he played less than 56% of the snaps in three of five games.
43:19So that's, you can't really look at that, but to who was it?
43:23I'm sorry, who said it in the chat? I forget, but oh yeah, Andy.
43:27This is a great number for Parker Washington in those six games after Brian Thomas Jr.
43:32came back from injury, everyone was healthy. Parker Washington had a 26.3% target per route run rate.
43:37That's huge. It's a big, big number. So we don't see it in the target share because he missed the game.
43:43He didn't play that many snaps. Now is he going to play most of the snaps?
43:48That hasn't really been his situation for most of his career, but if they really like him and he gets that kind
43:55of, I don't think he'll have a 26% target per route run rate, but if it's 22%, 23%, then we're talking here.
44:01Brian Thomas Jr., things have to change. He had a 16.6% target share, same as Brenton Strange.
44:06That's terrible. And Brian Thomas Jr. had a 17.6 yard ADOT.
44:10So that's the way it worked. It was Brian Thomas Jr.
44:13was the vertical, we use the expression everybody uses it, sacrificial X.
44:17He was the vertical guy, 17.6 yard ADOT. That's ridiculous.
44:20You know, Parker Washington... But you hear what Liam Cohen said yesterday?
44:23No. He wants him to push the ball down the field more.
44:27Yeah, but that's not a sustainable ADOT. I mean, that's...
44:30No, no, no, I'm not saying for him. I'm just saying like he wants this offense to be a little bit more vertical.
44:37I think the wild card in all this though is, again, whether it comes to fruition or not, they have egg on
44:43their face for the Travis Hunter trade. And how much are they going to force that next year?
44:49Hmm. Kind of... What did you call the yolk egg juice?
44:52Did you say egg juice, Dan, back in the day?
44:55I said, yeah, if you're making eggs, you got to have that egg juice.
44:59I mean, look, scrambled eggs, deece, deece at best, got to have it cut in and you get that egg juice.
45:05You can... It's the best part of the egg.
45:08All right, let's go a little faster here. One final thing, Austin Lim, thank you, sir.
45:13He said, honestly, I agree with Dan because collusion warrants that someone is put into an advantaged position and you guys, you
45:19two were simply avoiding being put into a disadvantaged position.
45:22Oh, give me a break. That's right, dude. Forfeiting draft picks in a dynasty league is a disadvantageous position.
45:28Who said this? Austin? It's as stupid as it gets.
45:31Oh, let's just play in a league where two teams are forfeiting second and third round dynasty draft picks.
45:37no, no, no. You didn't follow the rules. Oh, we didn't follow the rules.
45:41Okay. Are you telling me there's a difference between being put in an advantageous position and not being put in a disadvantageous position?
45:48somebody screws up and doesn't get the roster cut by the time you hit start on the draft and now you want
45:54them losing second and third round picks in a dynasty league.
45:58How dumb is that? What are we doing here?
46:00What are we doing here? Is that fun? You have 206 unread text messages, Dan.
46:05They're all group chats, dude. I can't keep up with the group chats.
46:09Some of these group chats are insane. You have to keep up with it.
46:13I can't read through a whole group chat during the middle of a work day.
46:18I don't even know how these people are able to text.
46:21You have to keep up with the communication in your league.
46:24All right, let's go. We'll go faster here. This is from Ted.
46:28He says, Dear Josh, Carl, and Jalen. Josh, Carl, and Jalen.
46:31I don't know. I'm in a 12 team, half PPR, super flex league, six point per pass and touchdown.
46:37Two keepers count as first and second round picks.
46:39I have been keeping Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow for a few years, but I picked up Jackson Dart.
46:45Am I crazy for considering keeping Dart over Hurts in a super flex six point per pass and touchdown league?
46:51There's draft values the same first and second round picks for his keepers.
46:55So would he, should he keep Dart or Hurts?
46:58Those are the only players he's keeping. It's a, yeah.
47:01Forever. Yeah. It's tough. I think you still have to keep Hurts.
47:04The question would be how, how much faith do you have in Dart long-term going into just year two with Matt Nagy as his coordinator?
47:12And I think there's a case to be made that he's a risky asset from that standpoint, but I don't think Hurts
47:18is as safe as people probably think he is.
47:21If you kind of look at that contract, there's an out soon for the Eagles.
47:26So, and then if he doesn't, if he gets caught by the Eagles, I don't know, man, for him generally speaking.
47:32And then his fantasy and dynasty value as well.
47:35Like, I don't know where her, I don't know what's going to happen with Hurts.
47:39If he doesn't, this is, this is kind of the situation for him.
47:43Okay. Next up from William. I'm a big best ball fan.
47:46I feel like Dazon stripling could be getting slept on.
47:49There's a clear path to injury concerns with basically the entire receiving core in San Francisco is Dazon stripling worth a late round investment.
47:56Yes. I, I, I just wrote the 49ers team outlook.
47:59It's on cbssports.com. You have 33 year old by the time we get into the season, 33 year old, Mike Evans, 33
48:06year old George Kittle coming off an Achilles. You have Ricky Pierce, all who's played 20 games in the last two, in
48:13the first two seasons of his career. So he's missed a lot of time.
48:17You have Christian Kirk who's, you know, not obviously someone that they're heavily invested in.
48:21I think he's going to play a role. No, John Jennings, no Brandon.
48:25you, this is, you know, a guy that they're taking a lot of crap for where they drafted him.
48:31So they value so far from what, you know, everything I've read, his blocking ability, which is going to get him on the field.
48:38And so he may play right away. He may have a big role right away.
48:43Uh, and certainly if anybody misses any time, remember Mike Evans missed a lot of time last year due to injury.
48:49Uh, if Kittle's not ready to go and they don't really want to feature Jake Tonga, Tonga's in the, in the passing
48:55game, like there's a huge opportunity for him here.
48:58So yes, absolutely. In redraft leagues, he's worth a late round pick.
49:02And certainly in rookie only drafts, you can make a case he's a late first round, certainly early second round pick.
49:08Uh, he should not be off the, he should not be still on the board by the middle of the second round.
49:15All right. One more keeper question here from Brian.
49:17Dear car, Stingley, Watt and Henry. Those are the Eric Derrick's.
49:21I'm so mad you brought this up again, Adam.
49:23Now I'm all tilted. I'm talking to the chat.
49:26Just go bitch in the chat about it. I mean, you know, it's just unbelievable that you brought this up again.
49:32I thought this was over with. I got lambasted on the show without even having to say, getting to say a word in defense for it for days.
49:41I think it's lamb. It is what it is.
49:43Look, it is what it is. It's over with.
49:46It is what it is. I have to do a better job of checking the league.
49:51Personally, I'm, I'm lobbying to get the rule changed because Oh, you are.
49:55I hadn't heard that. He said, unless there's an overwhelming majority, which I think there actually will be, but I don't think he wants to change the rule.
50:03This is a rule he likes. He actually enjoys this rule.
50:06So it is what it is, I guess. Okay.
50:09How do you feel about the rule? I'm not really clear on that.
50:13I don't know, man. I mean, let's keep doing this.
50:16Let's, that's fun. No, no one forfeited draft picks.
50:19You, you, you know, because we circumvented the thing, but that's a legal inclusion, according to you guys.
50:24So we actually should have forfeited our draft picks.
50:27That's what the end result should have been kicked out of the league.
50:31Listen, this is, I don't even want to get all right, right, right, right, right, right.
50:35This is from Brian 10 team, full PPR one keeper, choose a keeper.
50:39Drake may in the eighth Olave in the eighth pickings in the seventh Bowers in the third.
50:44Um, and it's, what was the format? 10 team PPR.
50:47I'm going pickings in the seventh. And this is not super flex, I assume.
50:52Correct. Okay. May drink a lot. A lot of in the eighth pickings in the seventh Bowers in the third.
50:58I agree. Pickens. Dan, you know, it really grinds my gears.
51:01Yeah. What is it? You want me to go first?
51:04You want to go first? You can go first.
51:07It happened right before the show. When you spend so much time remembering and memorizing your credit card number.
51:12Uh-huh. And then, of course, you need a new passport.
51:15So you Google new passport or whatever. You click on the first link and you end up giving all of your personal information to a scam website.
51:23So you have to cancel your credit card number.
51:26I know that. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it might be a different reason for you guys, but that's what happened to me.
51:33And now, it's been, what did you do? It's been like two months and I can't remember.
51:38I'm like two numbers away, but I can't remember my damn credit card number.
51:42And every time I buy something online, I have to get up and go walk across the house and get my stinking wallet.
51:49Really grinds my gears. I got to get this thing remembered.
51:52Yeah, I got scammed. You got scammed on a fake passport website?
51:56I don't know. What? I don't know if it was fake.
51:59I don't know if it was a scam. I don't think it was, I don't think it was, you know, scammers, but it was not a .gov.
52:07If you're going to do this, it's got to be .gov.
52:10And I didn't use a .gov. And then I realized that I was like, oh my gosh.
52:15Oh no. Yeah, it was bad. So my advice to everyone, even before.
52:19What happened though? What's the end result? Did you like lose money?
52:23I don't even understand what happened. I lost like a little bit of money, but they gave me a refund, but it
52:30just wasn't a website I should have used. But freeze your credit.
52:33Dan, have you frozen your credit? No. Jamie, have you frozen your credit?
52:37Have I ever had to? No. Freeze your credit.
52:40There is absolutely freeze your credit. But everyone, freeze your credit.
52:43There are three websites where you have to do it.
52:46It doesn't take long. I'm not taking your advice on websites.
52:49Trust me. I know. What the heck? Freeze your credits.
52:52It's Equifax. I don't remember the others. I don't know.
52:55It's Equifax. .gov. Freeze your credit. At the end of the day, I don't think it was a fake website.
53:01I think it was like a private service that does passports or something.
53:05I was way too young to be getting scammed on the internet.
53:09I know. It was really embarrassing. Way too young.
53:11Really embarrassing. My dad, at least five times, I feel like at least five times a month, my dad texts me like,
53:18hey, Dan, I got this text from this and this.
53:21Should I click? I can't click this link, right?
53:24And I'm like, no, dad, don't click this link.
53:26It's like my big fear with my parents, for sure.
53:29Because it's tricky. They trick them. They put Amazon.
53:32They do tricky stuff. It's really actually really screwed up.
53:35What grinds your gears, Dan? So the credit card thing grinds my gears.
53:39I understand that. What grinds my gears, in the past, I've talked about the shopping cart theory, just to revisit that one.
53:46I believe that people who leave their shopping carts, buy their cars in grocery stores to just roll around and hit other
53:52cars are some of the worst human beings on earth.
53:55Now, I provide an exception. If you're a mom with multiple kids, I respect.
53:59You shouldn't have to return the car. If you see me ever in that lot, wave me over.
54:05I'll return the cart for you. Any other person, probably a bad human being, to be honest.
54:10I have people now who I think are worse human beings than the cart people.
54:14Yeah, yeah, worse human beings. These people are the people who, your plane lands, you're sitting in row 27, they're behind you
54:21or wherever you are, let's say you're row 21, 22, whatever, and they're in row 27.
54:26They're behind you. All of a sudden, the plane lands, everybody knows there's time between when the plane lands and you exit the plane.
54:33This is common in society. You should have to understand this.
54:36There are the people who get up behind you, rush to it, get all their stuff, rush.
54:41Now they're standing, they're in your lane, they're moving up as fast as they can.
54:46They're trying to beat everyone to get off the plane.
54:49Now, again, there are some exceptions. If you have a connecting flight you need to get to, fine, go ahead, I'll let you through.
54:56Usually those people are nice and they're smart enough.
54:59They say, hey, I got a connecting flight, let me get through.
55:02But there's people you can read, Adam, Jamie. There are people you can read, they're just bad people, jerks.
55:08And you know these people aren't connecting any flight, aren't going any connecting flights.
55:12They just feel for some reason like it's their world and they are allowed to put themselves, pass everybody along the way
55:19and get off the plane first for no real reason just because it's their world and they want to do it.
55:25And so this happened to me on a flight recently and there's this guy right behind me pressing through the row, pressing, pressing.
55:32And so you know what I did, Adam? I put my arm up between mine and the row and the back of the seat and I blocked him.
55:40And I blocked him and I was ready for a confrontation.
55:44I was ready. What happened? He didn't say anything.
55:46No, he bowed down to the block. He just kind of looked at it and I looked at him and we kind of gave it a little thing.
55:55This could get, this could get saucy. Like I am not going to bow down to you.
56:00I am not letting you push through this, even like pressed up against it again.
56:04So I can put like a tiny bit of pressure on it.
56:08Like, oh, well, this guy will just break his hand and it'll move and like, he'll let me do this.
56:14I wasn't letting him go by. There's no go.
56:17You wait, you wait for every row. And there's like elderly, like woman across the, uh, for me and the other row,
56:23like the one, you know, perpendicular and I'm like, let her get her stuff and let her get out, dude.
56:29Like you're going to get off this plane in turn.
56:32And that's how it's going to go. If I'm on the plane, I love it.
56:37That's it. Yeah, that's a bad guy. I don't like those people.
56:40He's a bad guy. It's not your world. Everyone's living in this world.
56:44Not just you. Dan, I went out to dinner.
56:47I went out to dinner with a, no, he's right.
56:50I went out to dinner with my wife last Thursday and I pulled into a parking spot and bam, there's a shopping cart in it.
56:57And I was so mad. I had to get out and I had to move it.
57:02And I called, I said, this person is the scum of the earth.
57:06Oh, I love it. And my wife thought I went a little bit too far.
57:11She goes, there are worse things than leaving the shopping cart in the, in the parking spot.
57:16I said, you're right. But the people who do those worst things are the same ones who leave their shopping cart there.
57:22Well said. It is. It is a game. And the same ones who rush off the plane first.
57:28Yeah. They can get. Yeah. It's the same. Gateway crime.
57:31I'm pointing that term. All right. Fantasy cops. Let's do it.
57:34We got two fantasy cops here to end the show.
57:37This is from Jack 10 team dynasty league. It's a fab league.
57:40We just finished our rookie draft and free agency was immediately open.
57:44We have rolling waivers in our league, except for Sunday.
57:47Basically he has fab every night in his league, except for Sunday to keep people from not having someone to be ruled
57:54out and not have a, blah, blah. So our draft happened to end on Sunday.
57:58If it would have ended on any other day, there would not have, there would have been waivers with fab bids.
58:04And it was the start of the new league year.
58:07So the resulting consequence is that everyone automatically went to free agency if they were dropped during the draft.
58:13We all believe there would be a bidding war for notable free agents.
58:17So the person with the last pick ended the draft in the middle of the night and well, chaos ensued.
58:23So please help us decide should those players go back into free agency or should people who grabbed what they could keep the players?
58:30I feel like you need a supplemental draft here.
58:33Obviously the answer is not people grab what they could keep the players.
58:37That's as dumb as it gets and that's awful for competitive balance of the league.
58:41I think you need to come up with like a kind of a like maybe an outside the box solution though, like
58:48a supplemental draft of some source, maybe an auction where everybody gets X amount of dollars and these players go into a bidding.
58:55I don't know, or a snake. Well, no, they just, this is what I would do.
59:00I would just go back and you start the league on Monday.
59:03Yeah. You put the players back and then you do fab.
59:06This is what they intended to do. You just do fab.
59:10And then their fab goes down for the year.
59:12They've less fab for the year. Yeah. Okay. All right.
59:15But here's the thing. You turn off this, turn off this Sunday setting until the season starts.
59:21Exactly. You know, because it could happen again. It sounds almost like this league had a bad rule in place, recognize this.
59:27And now we're suggesting that they do something not, they don't just follow the rule.
59:32Okay. It's a bad rule. They do something different.
59:34It almost sounds like that's a suggestion there for you too.
59:38I don't know if I'm picking up on the right thing there though.
59:41All right. Next one is from Vinny. All right.
59:44Okay. Arm block. Take it easy over there. Vinny says, our home league is entering its 23rd season with mostly the same group from inception.
59:52And the league is extremely competitive. Love that. By the way, the movie inception.
59:56Don't understand it at all. I mean, they explained it like five times in the movie.
60:01I couldn't. Yeah. It's not great, but somehow tenant was worse.
60:04What is that? And it was even more unexplainable and as dumb as like, here's a smart movie by me, Christopher Nolan.
60:11It's like, I can't follow this at all. And I don't know how any human could be.
60:16Maybe. Jamie, you liked it. Tenet. Yeah. I mean, it's good, but it's confusing.
60:20Okay. Um, all right. League parameters in this league, 12 teams, PPR, six teams make the playoffs based on, it says head
60:26to head standings, but I assume he just means record with total fantasy points as the tiebreaker.
60:32Our league entry fee is $500 and we reward the team with the most fantasy points at the end of the regular season with a thousand dollars.
60:40dollars. So that's a $500 profit should be more, but we implemented a rule about 15 years ago called the decision.
60:46That's funny. If a team that has the most total fantasy points at the end of the regular season does not qualify for the playoffs.
60:53So it doesn't finish top six and head to head.
60:56That team has the option of either receiving the thousand dollar payout or taking the final playoff spot.
61:02Wow. If that team takes the final playoff spot, they have to give the $1,000 payout to the six seed that got
61:08booted as compensation for being removed from the playoff field.
61:11So that's awesome. The booted team ends up profiting $500 for the season, which is not too shabby.
61:17Our thought is that any league that doesn't have the team with the most regular season fantasy points in the playoffs cannot be taken seriously.
61:24Uh, this rule almost came into play last year, but didn't.
61:28And many members want the rule thrown out thoughts.
61:30Is this rule whack? It does get extra league wide attention during the final week of the regular season.
61:36This rule is unique. It's fun. It's interesting. It's something I haven't heard before.
61:40I think it makes your league different and I like it.
61:43I would not get rid of this rule. Yeah.
61:46I think it's great that you're rewarding the person for finishing first and total points and then you're giving them the option.
61:53Now, I guess the only thing would be is has there ever been any collusion situation of, Hey, listen, man, my team,
61:59sorry, you know, your team has a better chance to win.
62:03Uh, let's, let's split the thousand dollars and, and that, you know, kind of throws things off, you know, I can see
62:09a certain member of our staff doing that. Um, but if they, if they split the thousand dollars, it's only a $500 profit.
62:16So, yeah, but they both. Yeah. One is still good.
62:19So like, Hey, if I win the whole thing, yeah.
62:22Okay. I, I like the rule. I mean, I do like the rule itself though.
62:27I do have a rule in my leagues where the highest point scorer is guaranteed to make the playoffs and would get
62:33the six seed and would bump the, the, I've seen that.
62:36I've seen the leagues where it's like the five seeds are determined and the six seed goes to whoever has the highest
62:43points remaining, which I also think is a good rule.
62:46Mine's a little different than that. Mine only comes into play if the highest scoring team did not make the playoffs.
62:52Oh, ours is just that last seed is always going to the highest points remaining, which I think is great.
62:58Like last year that team ended up winning the league.
63:01I don't know. Let me ask you a question.
63:04Let's say the six seed, like the number one seed scores the most points or the number three, the six seed, if
63:11you go by record has is three games better than the team that has the most points and the team that has
63:17the most points is 30 more points than the six seed.
63:20I don't think that team should make the playoffs.
63:23Are we talking about in apex scoring or in regular scheduling, regular scheduling, then I do think the higher point team should make the playoffs.
63:31And if it's apex, I'm more along the sides.
63:33I think the schedules for the most part are just luck based joke.
63:37I mean, it's fun to follow. It gives to some in a root for on a week to week basis.
63:43But if you're not using apex scoring, it's just very luck based.
63:47How much do you think in my home league?
63:49Yeah, of course it's luck based the schedule. What do you mean?
63:53It's a little bit of luck, but it's not.
63:56I mean, you're making it out to be like you get no credit for drafting a good fantasy team.
64:01It just happens to be did you play a crappy team that week?
64:05That's not it. I mean, it's not a lot of the stand.
64:09A lot of the record is luck based. Yes.
64:12You play one team. If your record doesn't match your points, you know, right.
64:16That happens all the time. You're the number one seed and you're like fifth in points.
64:21Then you're right. Obviously from a great record. Great.
64:23I also think he'd be first in points, seven, seven, second in points.
64:27I also think that you can have a lot of points and not that great of a record if you have a really inconsistent team.
64:35That is also true. Sometimes there's also times like to say schedule is not a lot luck based thing.
64:40There's times you could fate. You have just the year where you are the team that plays that has all you never
64:47hit a team when they play up their by weeks.
64:50They're good players on by that happens all the time.
64:53That doesn't happen all the time. We don't, you don't know that there's a lot of bad seasons.
64:58I've seen where teams are first or second in points and they don't make the playoffs.
65:03That's to me, I've never seen that for the record.
65:06It has never happened since my leagues have switched to apex scoring.
65:10I've never seen the rule that I have in place.
65:13I've never actually implemented where a team leads the leads the league in scoring and hasn't gotten a top six seed.
65:19Now I haven't done it for that long. Before apex scoring, it happened multiple times in my home league twice.
65:25Actually one time the team had the most points.
65:28The second time the team had the second most points, by the way, how much do you think in my league of
65:34the pot, my home league, we assigned two points winners first and second.
65:38We give what would you guess? 30% 50% and we're proud of it.
65:42We are proud of it. The best teams deserve to get paid.
65:46That's how it is. We don't go by the scheduling lock.
65:49We want the teams that are actually drafted the best to get rewarded for it.
65:53Um, and playoffs are still fun. You know, there's still 50% of the pot in there.
65:58So do you do apex scoring? Yes, we do.
66:01So then where's the scheduling look? It's still locked to like, it's still locked to get like who you get put in them.
66:08Like apex for those don't know it's you get two records each week.
66:12So you get one for who you play in your schedule.
66:15That's one to know. And then the top six teams get a win and the bottom six teams that that week get
66:22a win if it's a 12 team league. So you can go one and one, two and oh, oh and two.
66:28It does make it better and less luck. There's still luck in schedule.
66:32Okay. All right. It's a lot of money. He's for not the non-playoff winner, but those are the best teams.
66:38They deserve something. Any final thoughts, Jamie? You know what grinds my gears?
66:42Yeah. When podcasts go too long. It's an hour.
66:44You should you you should never join us on beyond the box or the we'd love to have you on.
66:50You should hear Dan's new rating system. I'll be on the box score.
66:54Oh, it's got destroyed. You heard about this. I listened to a little bit.
66:58You listened to it. Oh, God, it seemed fine.
67:01I only got off the rails fast. It seemed fine from what I heard, but it went off the rails fast and
67:08I got destroyed in the comments for it. Not an understanding that it was mostly in jest.
67:13Like we're doing her fun episode. It's the middle of May guys.
67:16It's fantasy football in the middle of May. I do.
67:19I do have one thing that does grind my gears.
67:22The fact that I wasn't considered the most patient person on our show.
67:26Wow. You were rated that and who considers that?
67:29I would say the fact that that Dave and Heath don't have to listen to the two of you bicker sometimes.
67:35Who's the most patient of you for? It's certainly not Adam.
67:39He's least. No, Dave was considered the most patient person on the show.
67:43It's either you or Dave. It's definitely either you or Dave.
67:46They don't have the poll results. He has like the stoicism is I don't know if that's considered patience.
67:52It's stoicism. I don't see Heath sometimes like. Then the vein is about to pop out of his neck because he's getting
67:58He does a good job of not reacting at all.
68:01He's very stoic. You're obviously last on this list Adam.
68:04I think that goes without saying. I do interrupt Dave the most I think.
68:08So I gave him points. Dave also interrupts you the most.
68:12Does he? You guys don't interrupt me that much.
68:14I think we know who the least patient is if you consider me and that it's clearly me and Adam you're clearly second in that regard.
68:22Yeah, no, I'm very impatient. In fact, I was just yeah, never mind.
