0:00This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports. What a play!
0:03Can you believe this? He had no idea. It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
0:08Off to the races and he stays on his feet.
0:11He's just gonna go the distance. Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie and Heath.
0:16Surprise! It's worse than we thought. Jaxson Dart, long-term injury, could be out for the season reportedly and we are here to react.
0:23I probably should pick up my energy level a little bit, but this is genuine disappointment here for everyone, especially for Jaxson Dart.
0:30This kid cannot catch a stinking break. Welcome to Fantasy Football Today.
0:34It's a bonus episode here as we're gonna react.
0:37Adam, Dave and Jamie here. Well, I think you gotta pick up Jameis Winston over Mariota now, Jamie?
0:42Yeah, I had it that way in the column.
0:45We certainly showed that graphically. I don't know how much it was you came across discussing it, but I mean, we don't
0:52know the extent of Jaden Daniels' injury either yet.
0:55So that could, you know, put them in a similar standing.
0:58But yes, Jameis Winston is going to be the starter for the foreseeable future, maybe for the rest of the season.
1:05He's not officially out for the year, but it sounds like he's headed to season-ending surgery.
1:09So you'd love to see Dart come back at the end of the year and maybe show some signs of still being
1:16the fantasy breakout candidate that he was going into this season.
1:20But he's not going to help fantasy managers for most of this year.
1:24So in redraft leagues, you know, maybe you stash him on an IR spot just to see.
1:29But I think this is a guy we're gonna end up dropping and then hopefully Jameis can come in and do some
1:36of the things that Jameis has been known for, which is giving his receivers chances to make plays, giving us some, you
1:43know, great fantasy performances, but also frustrating us with lots of interceptions, several pick sixes, and, you know, not always being the most competent quarterback.
1:50We'll see how long Harbaugh sticks with him, you know, if they decide to go another route as well.
1:56I just think that Jameis is a must-add in superflex and two quarterback leagues.
2:00And with Dart being out and Daniels being out and Caleb Williams being out for however long he's gonna be out, and
2:07now Tyson Bajan's out also, you know, you might be looking at Jameis in one quarterback leagues also.
2:13And if you're in a superflex league and you don't need a quarterback, it's really not a bad idea to go out and get that next one anyway.
2:21Give you some depth, give you maybe a player you can trade for something better than what was on the waiver wire.
2:28So, you know, like I don't need Jameis Winston in my superflex league.
2:32I'm going to put in a bid. I'm probably not gonna put in as much as someone who needs to...
2:38I'm not gonna get him, I think, because the Jackson Dart manager is probably gonna unload, but whatever.
2:44We'll see. You never know. You never know. Dave.
2:47All right. So listen, Jameis Winston, when he took over for seven starts in 2024 with Cleveland, he was on pace for nearly 5,000 yards.
2:54And 29 touchdowns and of course 29 interceptions. His pass catchers...
2:58I mean, Jerry Judy was on pace for over 1,900 yards.
3:01Unbelievable stuff. Cedric Tillman in his three healthy games was on pace for almost 10, 9 and a half targets, 1,200 yards, 17 touchdowns.
3:09He had caught a touchdown a game and only three healthy games.
3:12Elijah Moore was on pace for 141 targets. It was okay.
3:16Njoku kind of struggled. I don't think he was fully healthy.
3:19But, you know, the question is, is this even that big of a downgrade for the Giants pass catchers?
3:25Man, I hope neighbors is as good as those guys.
3:28I buy into Jameis Winston's style of play. Jamie talked about it.
3:32He's an all or nothing type of quarterback. Where do I have it?
3:36I've got it in my notes. He's like the lowest among qualifiers in rate of passes at or behind the line of
3:43scrimmage and second highest on throws of 10 plus air yards.
3:46So he's willing to sling it. He's he tried to do it as recently as last night.
3:51Malik neighbors was real close to catching a contested catch and what's the Trent McDuffie knocked it away at the last second.
3:58There will be opportunities for huge numbers for the receivers in New York, but it's really primarily Malik neighbors who were worried about there.
4:05And Isaiah likely likely probably would have a better game if they had it next week because it just looked like the
4:12timing was off between Winston and likely I'm mildly encouraged.
4:15And I might even say that I'm excited for at least this week to see what we've got with Jameis under center against Tennessee.
4:23That's a team that can't put pressure on the quarterback.
4:26They play a lot of zone coverage. There should be ample opportunities for both of those guys neighbors and likely to put
4:33up big numbers and then we can take it from there about whether or not they're sell high candidates or guys that
4:39you just continue to roll with each week with Winston at the helm.
4:43So the one concern would be is an Adam if you have in front of his his laminate sheet that the schedule
4:50coming up for the Giants is not exactly very daunting.
4:53And so what we've seen from Jameis mostly he's made nine starts since 2024.
4:58He's been on bad teams and I don't think the Giants are a great team, but I think the Giants are going
5:04to be in these games or favored in some of these games certainly this week being one of them.
5:10We saw a very conservative game plan. I know Dart had a good fantasy game, but he ran for 54 yards.
5:17So we saw a conservative game plan for for D'Arte in week one.
5:21And I just wonder if that's going to be sort of the mantra of not putting Jameis in the spots that we're
5:28used to seeing him have a ton of success, especially in these games like when they play Dallas.
5:33That's going to be the case. Washington is not the same team right now.
5:38You know, I just don't know like if he has to do a lot of these similar type of things that we're used to.
5:45I hope he does. But listen, I mean the Giants secondary right now is in shambles.
5:50Brian. Yeah, but again, what's the schedule coming up?
5:53Because it's this week. So like I could see it this week with Tennessee.
5:57Like think about this way over under 30 pass attempts this week for Jameis against Tennessee.
6:02I would agree. Arizona next week under over. I'd say over at Washington under.
6:06I think he's going to go over most weeks.
6:09I think he's going to go over most weeks, too.
6:12He's got New Orleans after that and then he's at Houston in week seven and then there's a buy and then the
6:19schedule does get a little rockier, but short term.
6:22Yeah, there's a lot to like here. And in the playoffs Detroit and Dallas in weeks 16 and 17.
6:28Now listen, first of all, we said it could be dark.
6:31Could be dark and Winston. I can't see him losing this job unless they make a trade because they have nothing behind
6:38him basically, but Jake inner quarterbacks who turn the ball over lose their job and he's probably going to turn the ball over now neighbors.
6:45I didn't mention this on the show on Tuesday morning, but I should have Trent McDuffie did a great job on him.
6:52This was a true shadow. I mean he was with him most of the routes and neighbors just wasn't really winning against McDuffie in my opinion.
7:00So that was a tough but he's not going to have that kind of quarter cornerback shadowing him.
7:06Now if you were drafting again today in what round would you draft neighbors and what round would you draft Scadaboo and how about likely Jamie can start.
7:14So neighbors by the end of it was back in round three for me.
7:19I probably you know again, we're putting this in a vacuum.
7:22We're not taking into account every other player around him or other receivers.
7:26So I'll say conservatively late round three early round four.
7:29Okay, slight downgrade just because who knows how this will all play out Scadaboo.
7:34I was concerned about so he was around five pick for me.
7:37So I probably just keep him in round five and likely I think still round eight ish, you know tight end 10 range.
7:44And that's saying something right because he was tight end one in week one and then he had 10 or 11 targets yesterday.
7:52So it was a great start to the season for Isaiah likely.
7:55So are you thinking, you know, you take Kincaid and Laporta and crack over him?
8:00Well again, like, you know, for if we're drafting right now, I'm taking Isaiah likely over Colston Loveland, but we're not putting out really.
8:07Yes, right now. Yeah, I mean for week three.
8:10Yes, but rest of season. Who do you like better?
8:13Also, it looks like garbage. The Bears just lost their quarterback.
8:17Yeah, I'm going to take Isaiah like the Giants.
8:19I think Giants did too, but I think we all would take Jameis Winston over the combination of Tyson Bajan and Case Keenum.
8:26I forgot to mention this. Andrew Thomas is also hurt.
8:29That's probably their left tackle. He hurt his his groin.
8:33He came into the game with ankle injury ankle and something and he hurt his groin in this.
8:38I don't know. I'm mixing up the injuries, but he got hurt.
8:42He hurt his groin. He came into the game with a knee and ankle injuries.
8:46I don't know what the time timeline is for Andrew Thomas, but that's a huge deal for them.
8:52Their star left tackle. All right. You know, I think when you when you know it's not a Cooper Rush situation.
8:59Let's put it that way. This is not the Giants are going to fold and be terrible, but I wish it were Dart.
9:06I could see it being better with Jameis, but he did look so bad last night that I guess you have to
9:12wonder is he just he's old now. I mean, I know you're shaking your head Dave and I am too.
9:19He's older and he clearly wasn't prepared for that game and to go cold off the bench to looking right into the eyes of Aaron Donald.
9:27That was not I know he's supposed to be prepared to do that stuff.
9:31I don't think he was whatsoever, and I don't think that it's fair to judge him solely off of that when this
9:38dude's been in the league a long time and then maybe he should have been far more prepared because he's been in the league a long time.
9:46But I think the easier matchups mean something, and I think the track record of what he did last year with the
9:53Giants the year before that with the Browns should carry a little more weight.
9:57Now, if we get to next week and he's completing 40% of his throws and he's way off target, he can't even
10:04complete 10 yard throws, then obviously, A, it's going to be too late to get anywhere close to fair value for neighbors or likely.
10:11And B, you can pretty much expect to write off the entire season for New York.
10:16I don't think that's going to happen. Yeah, someone commented that the stat of almost being on pace for 5,000 yards with
10:2329 touchdowns and 20 interceptions is wild. And then I'll remind you that in 2019, Jameis Winston threw for 5,109 yards in
10:3016 games with 33 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. Yeah, he had a 30-30 year.
10:34It's so Jameis. He's given us phenomenal. They were so in love with him.
10:39They got Tom Brady the next year. Yeah, but he's been great for wide receivers.
10:43I mean, at different points in his career. The best of Jerry Judy.
10:47That was probably a huge season for Goblin and Evans, I'm guessing, that 2019 season.
10:52So, it's possible. I just hope he looks better.
10:55Doesn't throw to the running backs a ton. I should point that out.
10:59That was also seven years ago. This puts in very deep leagues Darnell Mooney on the radar.
11:04He had a little bit of a connection with him last night.
11:08And that's the type of play. That could be like the Cedric Tillman if you're talking about comparing it to the Browns.
11:14He's not going to do Godwin-Evans type things. But just because if Jameis gets in the YOLO mode, he's going to lean on his receivers.
11:22And it seems right now that Mooney's ahead of Malachi Fields.
11:26But Fields also is in the same scenario of dart throw, maybe benefits because of Jameis.
11:30But the hope is just, look. They get in some...
11:34You mentioned that the secondary is a mess right now.
11:37I don't think they're going to be such a disaster for the majority of the season.
11:42We'll see Bob Burns because that hurts the pass rush, how long he's out.
11:46But if they do get in a lot of shootouts, then we're looking at the best of Jameis.
11:51So you want to see Jameis in that 35-plus pass attempt range.
11:55You want to see him having to sort of carry the offensive load because of either score or run game struggling or both.
12:02I just think the flip side of that is you know that Harbaugh's going to try and be as conservative as possible
12:09and not put Jameis in those situations. So when they're in these games against mediocre offenses or struggling offenses or defensive-type games,
12:16I think we could see a scenario where Jameis just isn't at his best.
12:20But look, nobody should be viewing it right now as Jameis is the number one quarterback to go get in one quarterback league.
12:27Jameis is the guy that's going to save your fantasy team.
12:31Jameis is the best one-to-one replacement for Jackson Dart on your fantasy roster.
12:35There should be guys out there that are in a little bit better spots either on a short term like we talked about earlier today with C.J.
12:43Stroud and Geno Smith and their matchups. Obviously, Bryce Young, Kyler Murray.
12:47And if you're not sold on Jameis and you want especially four points for passing touchdowns, Mariota, his last eight starts, four games with 40-plus rushing yards.
12:55So he might be better in those type of formats.
12:58They're both the same age, by the way. So he's looking at two guys that once upon a time was the debate
13:05who should be the better quarterback in the NFL, who should be the better fantasy quarterback.
13:10And here we are in 2026. The first and second picks thing was, what, 2017 draft?
13:152016 draft? You know, here we are with those two guys back still starting again for NFL teams in 2026.
13:212015 draft. All right. I'm going to end with these questions.
13:24Likely or Schultz, rest of season? Likely. These are the chat questions.
13:28Likely or Fannin? Likely. Likely is top six still in the trade chart.
13:32Should I drop Michael Penix for Jameis Winston? One QB league or super flex?
13:36No, super flex. Maybe it's got to be super flex, right?
13:40Why would you even carry them both? I'm not dropping either one.
13:44I'm dropping somebody else because if it's a super flex or two quarterback league, I'm carrying both these guys and trying to trade one.
13:51Well, who would you rather have then? I would rather have...
13:54I think I'd rather have Jameis. Jameis. I'm starting golden over neighbors.
13:58I need to see it before I trust it.
14:01Don't hate that at all. I have it ranked that way by almost 10 spots.
14:05Right. It's closer for me, but I don't hate it.
14:09Oh, no. I'm sorry. I was thinking of Watson.
14:11I do have golden ranked out of neighbors. Yeah.
14:14Jameis is a YOLO weekly start. Yeah. He's fun.
14:17Yeah, he is. He's good for DFS. Would you trade neighbors and Kincaid for Javante Williams?
14:22I need an RB2. No, it's way too much for Javante.
14:25Would you drop likely for Gadsden, Ferguson, or Waller?
14:28No. And what are the chances the Giants make a move?
14:31I think Slim. So one of their beat writers, Gary Myers, suggested that they trade for J.J.
14:37McCarthy. That's, you know... I don't think he's a beat writer, though.
14:40I think he's like a columnist. A columnist. I'm sorry.
14:43So, you know, one of the members of New York media suggested trading for J.J.
14:48McCarthy. Like, that's... I think if you had a veteran quarterback that was dealing with an injury, and on his way out of the franchise, like...
14:56I'm guessing Minnesota's not just giving away J.J. McCarthy.
14:59They might be, but... They would have already. I'd rather Jameis.
15:02I would do. Huh? I'd rather Jameis. I think I'd rather Jameis.
15:06Of course you'd rather Jameis. Jameis has a decent contract here.
15:09I mean, they have him for a reason. So I don't know that they're gonna...
15:14I'm thinking no. What's his contract? Two-year extension. Yeah, they just extended him.
15:18Two-year extension over $4 million this year. I think the thing that you could see if Jameis really stinks is, like, does
15:25Harbaugh go make a move to get Flacco back, you know, off of Cincinnati's bench?
15:29You know, that type of thing of someone he's familiar with.
15:33Or does Nagy go get somebody that he's familiar with, like Gardner Minshew?
15:37Trubisky. Right. I don't think Trubisky's in play, though, because he's the backup in Tennessee.
15:41They don't have any... Well, I mean, you could potentially see him, you know, see them go to Arizona and get Minshew,
15:48who was just with Nagy in Kansas City. That's true.
15:51All right, guys. That'll do it. Thank you for taking the time to, you know, cheer up this Giants fan.
15:58And, yeah, we'll talk to you... So which team are you pivoting to now?
16:02I think you've got to be all in on the Eagles at this point.
16:06The Eagles? No, no, no. I'm gonna... You know what?
16:09I'm gonna go... I'm gonna go with my hometown team.
16:12I'm gonna be a Dolphins fan this year. That's gonna cure everything.
16:16What... How do you feel? Because you just, you know, had one of the greatest victories of your life with the Knicks.
16:23Yeah. And now the Giants are probably gonna struggle.
16:26I don't know how the Yankees finish, but, you know, judges banged up going into playoffs.
16:31You have your Hurricanes, but we'll just keep it to the pro situation.
16:35Like, do you get just a little bit of a...
16:38One of my favorite teams, one, I can deal with this disaster?
16:41You know, it's... The Giants have only been good, like, once in the last 10 years or something.
16:47And that was a really fun year. It made the fall...
16:50It made the season even more fun. So, I'm a little upset that they're back to being not just bad, but they're probably gonna be, like, unwatchable.
16:59You know, I think... No, Jameis is much watched.
17:01No. Dude. I don't know. They look so incompetent yesterday.
17:05Well, with your eye, you probably can't see it.
17:07Yeah, they're much watched. I'm disappointed. But, you know, it's football.
17:11You know, we have more important things in life to care about.
17:14But, um... Now you get a better draft pick, though.
17:18I'm still tired of it. Like, I'm just tired of it.
17:21I really think you gotta ask yourself if you're the Giants.
17:24Like, this loaded quarterback class. If they have a terrible year, what do they do?
17:29Does Dart look pretty good, but can you rely on this guy?
17:33No. You're franchise quarterback. You're all in on Dart.
17:35I don't... I don't think you have to be.
17:38The guy can't stay healthy. So, let's just say they don't win another game.
17:43And you're picking in the top three. Oh, my God.
17:46The storylines. Of course you take Arch Manning. You take Arch Manning over Jeremiah Smith?
17:50If you're the Giants? Yes. No way. Oh, you think because of...
17:54I got it because of Manning. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't care about it.
17:59And you're out of the Dart business. You're trading Jackson Dart for whatever you can get.
18:04You can get a first or a second round pick for him.
18:08You can't get a first. You might. I mean, he looks like a first round player.
18:12He might when he's on the field. Coming off a bad knee injury.
18:16Yeah, probably second. I don't even know if a second will get it done.
18:21You might have to kick in a third. Oh, come on.
18:24For a third year quarterback who's been this good?
18:27He's been so good at going to the blue medical tent.
18:30I like the guy. I think he's talented, but I'm thinking like what an NFL team would say back to the Giants if they tried to acquire Dart.
18:39That's what they'd throw in your face. For you to say they're unwatchable with Jameis Winston, like that's just crazy.
18:45I mean, maybe not. He's the most fun quarterback to watch.
18:49They were unwatchable yesterday. I'll tell you that. Well, I mean, like Dave said, he wasn't expecting to be in that spot.
18:55That's a tough place to be. Over under three and a half pick sixes for the season.
19:01Under. That is so many pick sixes. Didn't he have seven in one year?
19:05Yeah. The 30 interception year. How many did he have?
19:08Deron Land did. I don't know how many Jameis did.
19:11Google those. All right. How many pick sixes did Jameis Winston throw in a season?
19:16Seven. Seven in 2019, according to Gemini. That was the year that he was just amazing on every way possible.
19:22Playing against him, playing with him. Amazing. Okay. Thanks for watching and listening, everybody.
19:26We'll talk to you tomorrow on Fantasy Football Tonight.
19:29It was a gruesome discovery off a dirt road in Georgia.
19:32Hunters had found a body. Was it immediately clear to you that this woman had been murdered?
19:38Yes. But who was this mystery woman in the woods?
19:41That looks like Mindy. I'm Erin Moriarty, and from 48 Hours, this is The Woman in the Woods.
19:46I have never wanted to be wrong like this in my whole entire life.
19:51Follow and listen to The Woman in the Woods wherever you get your podcasts.
