Player insights

33

Breece Hall

PositiveValue32:46

Heath suggests that recent injury news has provided a discount on Breece Hall, who he considers the team's best running back and pass-catcher. Despite being RB21 per game last year, Heath believes the floor is high and the current ADP is fair value.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

PositiveBreakout61:21

Brian Thomas Jr. is showing impressive development in Jacksonville, working all areas of the field and demonstrating the ability to make contested catches. He is expected to be the top target-getter for Trevor Lawrence. Despite a minor shoulder issue, he remains a high-upside target in drafts, with some analysts preferring him over other wide receivers in non-PPR formats.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

PositiveProjection39:19

Heath ranks Brock Purdy as his QB8, noting that he was the QB1 on a per-game basis through Week 17 last year. Heath highlights Purdy's potential for increased rushing production as a reason for his high outlook.

Insight page
PositiveValue64:24

Brock Purdy is considered a fantastic value on draft day. His outlook is bolstered by the development of rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, who has been fast-tracked into the first-team offense and is expected to be a significant contributor.

Insight page

CeeDee Lamb

PositiveProjection18:31

Dave targets Lamb in the late first round, citing his high target volume and the expectation that he will significantly increase his touchdown total from last year's three-score season.

Insight page
PositiveBust20:47

Adam argues that Lamb is potentially overvalued, noting that George Pickens has been more efficient on a per-target basis and outperformed Lamb in fantasy points per game during the latter half of the season.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

PositiveRole67:20

Chris Godwin is expected to play in the slot, a role that suits him well and aligns with Baker Mayfield's preferences. He is a reliable, high-floor option who has historically been a top-17 wide receiver per game five times in his career.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveBreakout28:31

Dave identifies Loveland as a late-round target, noting that from weeks 10-13 and the playoffs, he averaged 7.3 targets per game and 12 PPR points. Dave expects him to be a matchup nightmare and a primary target leader in the Chicago offense.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveValue24:08

Jamie highlights Swift as a target, noting that in the final 11 games of last season, he averaged 13.9 PPR points per game, which would have ranked as RB18. With competition potentially sidelined early in the season, Jamie believes Swift could perform as a top-10 running back during that stretch.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

PositiveProjection45:01

Dave ranks Achane as his top running back in the group, highlighting his consistent floor of 17.6 full PPR points per game over the last two seasons. Dave is convinced Achane will be heavily involved in the passing game, citing design targets and checkdowns observed in joint practices.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveValue69:28

Derrick Henry is being drafted as the RB11 despite a track record of being a top-seven running back per game in six of the last seven seasons. His production is tied to Lamar Jackson's health, and with a healthy quarterback, he is expected to see increased scoring opportunities.

Insight page

George Pickens

PositiveValue22:10

Heath argues that despite Pickens having the second-lowest target-per-route-run rate of any wide receiver to finish top-10 in PPR points per game over the last five seasons, his high route volume and improved target efficiency after a slow start to the season make him a must-draft player.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout33:19

Heath projects both Lamb and Pickens to dominate targets in a pass-heavy Dallas offense, noting that the team has consistently ranked in the top 10 in pass attempts under Brian Schottenheimer.

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

PositiveRole53:09

Dave views Likely as a high-value tight end, projecting him to fill a role similar to Zach Ertz's middle-of-the-field usage but with more downfield upside. Dave ranks him ahead of Kyle Pitts in full PPR formats and expects him to be a reliable fantasy asset worth a round seven or eight pick.

Insight page

Jake Ferguson

NegativeProjection23:09

Heath projects Ferguson for 98 targets, viewing him as a borderline tight end one. While he notes Ferguson is currently being drafted too high, he expects him to remain a significant factor in the red zone within a high-volume passing offense.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

PositiveUsage54:45

Dave is extremely high on Waddle, projecting him to be hyper-targeted by Sean Payton as a versatile weapon who can stretch the field vertically and horizontally. Dave considers him a round three or four value and is drafting him significantly ahead of his current ADP.

Insight page

Jordan Mason

PositiveValue47:35

Jamie views Mason as a safe, borderline flex option who is a more explosive runner than Aaron Jones. While acknowledging that drafting him at 80th overall is early, Jamie argues he is a valuable target in the round eight range as a potential starter if the primary back misses time.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeProjection11:37

Jamie argues that Herbert has only been an elite fantasy quarterback when averaging over 39 pass attempts per game, which may not align with the offensive philosophy of Mike McDaniel.

Insight page
PositiveValue13:46

Heath defends Herbert as a solid value, noting that he is a consistent top-12 finisher who should succeed with a healthy offensive line and a proven ability to support high-yardage passing offenses.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveRole42:26

Jamie favors Walker as a featured back, noting his high-level production in the playoffs when Zach Charbonnet was absent. Jamie argues Walker's trajectory is safer than other options like De'Von Achane or Derrick Henry, emphasizing his potential for a featured workload.

Insight page

Mike Evans

NegativeBust33:50

The analysts are downgrading Mike Evans due to recurring injuries during training camp. While he still has sleeper appeal in the late sixth round, his health status is a significant concern.

Insight page

Parker Washington

PositiveBreakout60:41

Dave identifies Parker Washington as a key target, comparing his role to Amon-Ra St. Brown. Dave notes Washington is dominating red zone drills and working all areas of the field, asserting he is clearly the top target-getter in the Jacksonville offense.

Insight page
PositiveUsage62:05

Parker Washington is locked into a significant role in the Jacksonville offense, projected for approximately seven targets per game. He has shown strong chemistry with Trevor Lawrence and is considered a value pick in the sixth round of drafts, especially in full PPR formats.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

PositiveValue64:15

Patrick Mahomes is being drafted as a top-12 quarterback, often falling to the 12th round in some leagues. Despite concerns about his rushing upside and past performance, he remains a high-potential asset who is being undervalued relative to his historical production.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

PositiveValue37:18

Heath argues that Rashee Rice is undervalued as a late second or early third-round pick. Despite concerns about target competition, Heath believes Rice can maintain a high target share and remains a strong pick at his current ADP.

Insight page

Sam LaPorta

NegativeInjury3:58

Heath notes that while LaPorta has dealt with a hip injury in the preseason, there have been no reports of structural or ligament damage, and he has returned to practice.

Insight page
NegativeUsage7:01

Heath expresses concern that LaPorta has not proven he can be an elite tight end when Jameson Williams is heavily involved in the offense, noting that LaPorta's targets per game dropped significantly when Williams' role increased.

Insight page
PositiveValue10:26

Heath highlights that LaPorta's ADP has fallen to the 99th overall pick (TE8) in recent drafts, which represents amazing value for a player with his upside.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

PositiveValue53:39

Jamie identifies Higgins as a consistent performer who acts like a top-16 wide receiver whenever he, Joe Burrow, and Ja'Marr Chase are healthy. Jamie targets Higgins in the early fourth round as a high-value pick.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

PositiveUsage68:26

Travis Etienne is a target in the third round of drafts. Despite potential competition from Alvin Kamara, Etienne was the RB14 per game in full PPR last year and maintained a high volume of touches (17.4 per game). He remains the clear lead back in the Saints' backfield.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

PositiveBreakout40:40

Jamie views Trevor Lawrence as a breakout candidate, citing his strong finish to last season and the addition of a talented receiving group. He also notes that offensive coordinator Liam Cohn has a history of boosting quarterback rushing production.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout40:58

Heath projects Lawrence as a breakout quarterback candidate, citing his strong finish to the 2025 season (over 30 fantasy points per game including playoffs) and the influence of offensive coordinator Liam Coen. While not expecting a repeat of nine rushing touchdowns, Heath projects 400 rushing yards and 3-5 rushing scores, which would significantly boost his fantasy floor.

Insight page

Zach Charbonnet

PositiveValue69:03

Zach Charbonnet is a strategic draft target, particularly for his potential as a goal-line back. He can be stashed in an IR spot early in the season, providing flexibility while waiting for him to potentially reclaim a significant role in the offense.

0:00This is Fantasy Football Today from CBS Sports. What a play!
0:03Can you believe this? He had no idea. It's time to dominate your fantasy league.
0:08Off to the races! And he stays on his feet!
0:11He's just gonna go the distance! Now here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie and Heath.
0:16Big day today. It is hump day. It is Wednesday, August 26th.
0:20Been counting down until Wednesday, August 26th because it's our draft-a-thon show tonight.
0:24Please join us from 5 to 8 p.m. Eastern.
0:26You, the audience, will be interacting with us. We'll be reading your chat questions and we're gonna have a mock draft during
0:33the show with two spots in the draft just for the audience.
0:37And then you get to vote in a poll and make the pick!
0:41How cool is that? And we're all here today on this Wednesday morning to tell you the players that we keep on drafting here for 2026.
0:49I'm Adam Azer. Dave Richard is back! Hey, Dave!
0:52What's up, fool? How was your trip? Good. I'm tired.
0:55Yeah. Saw a lot of stuff. Can't wait to tell you guys about it.
0:59Yes, we're gonna hear about that. He went to Raiders camp and saw Ashton Jeanty get hurt and then be okay.
1:06And, uh... I don't know how okay he is, but he definitely got hurt.
1:10Saw the Jaguars. He saw the Bucks. So we'll get some inside info from Dave.
1:15Hello, Heath! Were you there when Brian Thomas got hurt also?
1:18Right in front of me. Literally right in front of me.
1:21Yeah. Don't go in the room with Dave this week.
1:24Jeez, you got bad luck. No kidding. Well, he was there when Dan...
1:28So far in the last seven days, I've heard a running back, a wide receiver, a pizza restaurant.
1:34I'm on a roll. Yep. And you heard Dad belching for a half hour too.
1:39That killed me. All right. Let's... Here's what we're gonna do.
1:42We're gonna do the players we keep on drafting, but with a little bit of a twist.
1:47I'm gonna argue against them. I'm gonna play a little devil's advocate, make you defend.
1:52Not all of them. Two for each of you.
1:55Uh, we've sort of... I feel like we've moved past that portion of draft preview where we're debating things.
2:00And I think we need to get back to that.
2:03Let's, you know, let's have some debates here. Yeah.
2:06So, let's do part one of players we keep drafting with a twist.
2:10And just give me two. You gave me kind of longer lists, but we'll go one each and then we'll go one each again.
2:18Let's start with Heath. Who's the player you keep drafting?
2:21I didn't give you a long list. No. I gave you like three and a half guys.
2:26Yeah, not that many. But... I mean, we can start with, uh, with the guy that up until Jamie took him in
2:33our last draft, I had drafted in every real draft that I'd done so far this season.
2:38And it's Sam Laporta. Okay. So you want me to just get right into the why you, why you...
2:44I think everybody's heard my case for Sam Laporta 75,000 times this off season.
2:48So you can go ahead and do your well-researched.
2:51He hurt his back last year. His hip hurts right now.
2:54That's a problem. Well, yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's like, I wonder sometimes if, if we, I think I'm guilty of
3:01this too, is like, I really like a player so much and then he gets hurt in the preseason and I don't want to care.
3:09Right. And I, I don't discount him enough. How much have you discounted him since the hip injury, which may not be a big deal at all.
3:17Right. I haven't really, because it was like, he got hit really hard in the hip.
3:22I've heard nothing about any structural concerns, any ligament concerns, anything like that.
3:26If it was like something to where it could have been related, like he's got sciatica and it's related to a back
3:33injury, or he's got a hip flexor that he like pulled or something like that, then I probably would have.
3:39I think it's, it's really, and it's probably just because we have so much more coverage than we used to.
3:45But I think it would be a shorter list.
3:48If you made a list of guys who have not gotten hurt this preseason, then guys who have gotten hurt this preseason.
3:55Like we had six guys get hurt yesterday and most of them, we don't think it's probably any big deal.
4:01We're going to get to week four and there's going to be like eight guys that we say, yeah, we should have
4:08known he was hurt in the preseason. Well, so were 80 other guys.
4:12Well, why are we talking? He's back at practice, right?
4:15This is like a good thing. Okay. So my other arguments against Sam Laporta have nothing to do with the entry.
4:21Uh, he was tight end one overall tight in three per game as a rookie in that season.
4:27Jameson Williams played 12 games and had 42 targets.
4:29Since then, Sam Laporta has been tight at nine per game and tight end seven per game.
4:35Obviously Jameson Williams has had a bigger role in that stretch.
4:38Additionally, you could even look at last year. He was tight end seven per game, played nine games.
4:44He had 49 targets. So he's getting what's how many targets per game is that nine divided by 49 divided by nine.
4:50Not a lot, uh, five and a half targets per game.
4:54And in that stretch, Jameson Williams wasn't even getting targets.
4:57Jameson Williams is getting about five targets per game.
5:00So, um, I'm worried that I he's really good player, Sam Laporta, but hasn't shown that he can be an elite tight end when Jameson Williams is involved.
5:08And even when Jameson Williams wasn't that involved. And then the next two games after the buy, before he got hurt, you
5:15had both of them get 13 targets. They made a point after the buy, even before the Laporta injury say, we got to get Jameson Williams more involved.
5:24They did both at 13 targets in weeks. I want to say nine and 10, and then Laporta got hurt.
5:30So it's really the, my biggest concern is that he just hasn't been an elite tight end without Jameson with Jameson Williams
5:36really, you know, being a part of the offense.
5:39Where would you drive? Yeah. Round seven at the earliest.
5:42He has around seven ADP. He is currently being drafted as tight end six, a fraction, like not even a full spot,
5:49a fraction of a spot ahead of Tucker craft.
5:52Um, probably will change by tomorrow with the rate Laporte has been falling in drafts.
5:57So I think the, like, he's not proven that he can be an elite tight end, except for the year that he
6:03finished as the number one tight end. And Jameson Williams.
6:06Well, right. I don't think, I think that most of the history, the history we have suggests that when those two are
6:13on the field, it's been more Laporta than Jameson Williams.
6:16And they just hired drew Petsing as their offensive coordinator.
6:19By the way, look at where he's going right now over the last five days on NFC draft position, average draft position.
6:26That's 71 drafts. Sam Laporte is going 99th. It's tight end eight.
6:30That's still so. But at the same time, the tight end ADP is pretty low.
6:34Tucker craft 80th, Kyle Pitts, 81st, Harold Fannin, 92nd, Sam Laporte 99th.
6:38That'd be amazing value. Um, all right, Jamie, you're up.
6:41Give me a player. I don't know who you have an argument for.
6:45I mean, I can, I can do the argument at any time, but the players I picked for you were Justin Herbert and Deandre Swift.
6:53There you go. Pick one. All right, let's go to Justin Herbert.
6:57This one. Let's go. Okay, let's go. So I gave five names and you chose one of the five that I shared with Jamie to argue against.
7:05All right. I thought that would be better, you know, because you know, then it's like, I'm getting.
7:10Let's go Herbert. All right. Look at you. Herbert or Swift.
7:14Herbert. Herbert. Okay. Yeah. I mean, Herbert, I think is, is pretty safe.
7:18He pretty much always finishes as a top 12 quarterback, but the only times he's been, you know, an elite quarterback, he's
7:25averaged over 39 pass attempts per game. That's not really the M.O.
7:28of, of, of Mike McDaniel. He's more of a slow pace, run the ball kind of guy.
7:33Um, that's basically it. He also, as good as Herbert was last year, is on pace for 529 rushing yards.
7:40And he's usually more like a 300 rushing yard guy.
7:43So that was really strange. Uh, so let me get rid of this Laporta ADP here.
7:48Thank you. Um, so anyway, yeah, it just, he's, he's only been elite when he's thrown almost 40 times per game.
7:54Fair point. Um, he was averaging over 25 points per game last year in the six games with Joel.
8:00The offense was scoring over 25 points per game in the six games with Joel.
8:05And now you're getting Joel back for the season with Rashawn Slater.
8:08So losing be out. It sucks their center. Uh, that was, you know, just an added strength to it.
8:14But I just think when Herbert has things working around him, I'm sure he's the laugh at this.
8:20Uh, but when Herbert has things working around him, he will be in a very good spot to succeed.
8:26So he's in that jumbled mix of quarterbacks. If you're looking at the, the rank list, the consensus rank list on, uh,
8:32on YouTube, if you see it on our site, basically after QB six, it's Prescott, Herbert, Lawrence, Williams, Purdy, golf, dart, Mahomes.
8:39Uh, who am I missing golf? Uh, no, he's, he's in there.
8:43Um, I don't know the, the, the seven, six or seven quarterbacks that all go in that range of, I love Caleb
8:50Williams, or I think this is Trevor Lawrence's year or Dak's going to be awesome.
8:54Once again, you want to put them at the bottom of the list.
8:58That's fine. I just think that Justin Herbert's a very good value.
9:02I think he's going to have a good season.
9:05I think as long as his tackles are healthy or at least one of them, he has a chance to be successful.
9:11And I do think that Mike McDaniel, yes, while having the ability to be an offensive genius also does not necessarily say, Hey, I'm Ben Johnson.
9:19I'm going to throw the ball all over the place.
9:22Hey, I'm this guy. I'm going to open up things all like crazy.
9:26He did as shockingly as that may seem right now, watching that guy play.
9:31He got to a tongue of Iloa to lead the NFL in passing yards.
9:35Yeah. Amazing. To a tongue of Iloa. So I have a better, I think, argument against Herbert.
9:40Sorry, Heath, I'll let you jump in. But it's more like you have to commit to taking him ahead of players who might be just as good.
9:49Yeah. He's in a big tier and he seems to be at the top of the tier.
9:54That's, I guess, the more of the argument is like losing value in ADP.
9:58That's all. Yeah, I think, and I'm not the biggest Justin Herbert guy.
10:02I'm not sure if I've made that clear. I think he's fine and where he's being drafted is pretty close to fine,
10:09but he's going like a full round behind Caleb Williams and behind Trevor Lawrence.
10:13And so my, my thing I was going to interject was, I think we should pass a rule for Adam's devil advocate.
10:20If a player is being drafted after the first six rounds, the argument can't be he's only been elite win.
10:26Because we're drafting the guys in seven and eight.
10:29Like, I think that applies for running backs and wide receivers because there are so many of them going in the first
10:36six, seven rounds, but for quarterbacks and tight ends, especially for quarterbacks, we expect.
10:40To find elite quarterbacks all throughout the draft. Um, you're taking Sam Laporta in round six.
10:45I mean, there, you know, there are potentially, I don't know if they're potentially elite wide receivers there.
10:51There might be, there's Christian Watson and there's Mike Evans and guys like that and Parker Washington.
10:56But all right, fair enough. You want to, this is somebody said in the chat, beat up on Adam Wednesday.
11:02All right. Jamie's made his case. Dave, who's, who's your guy?
11:05As opposed to beat up on Adam Thursday, beat up on Adam Friday, beat up on Adam Sunday.
11:11It's kind of a thing we do. Let's talk about CD lamb, who I have gravitated toward taking with a late first round pick and full PPR.
11:19When I'm picking eight through 12 and there isn't a running back there that I just think is a slam dunk over him.
11:26Those running backs are usually Jonathan Taylor, Chase Brown, James Cook.
11:30I look at all the other running backs that are left and I like them, but there's a lot of them and
11:36there aren't a lot of wide receivers left. And so I'm going to gravitate toward lamb and I'm going to look at those six games.
11:44And we've talked about this a decent amount during the off season.
11:48There were six games with Quinn and Williams and Dallas, meaning, all right, they, they, they acquired this awesome defensive tackle.
11:54He made their defense better. He changed how much they passed.
11:58And there were six games in those six games.
12:00This is week 11 through 15. And then week 17 lamb averaged 16.4 PPR points per game, 10.9 non PPR points per game, 9.2 targets per game.
12:09And over the course of the entire season, CD lamb had just three touchdowns.
12:13He had a high ankle sprain that seemed to limit him.
12:16He's healthy now. I don't think he's going to catch just three touchdowns.
12:20I think he can double that. I think it's possible he can triple that and he's still going to get a hell
12:27of a lot of targets in this offense. I know George Pickens is there.
12:31I know what Pickens is capable of doing. I still think CD lamb is the straw that serves the drink here.
12:38And I'm going to take him as the fifth wide receiver off the board with that late round pick.
12:44Late round one pick. I mean, excuse me. Okay.
12:47Devil's advocate. He's not even the best wide receiver on his team.
12:50George Pickens has been a more efficient wide receiver throughout his career than CD lamb.
12:55And I think guys with high a dots usually are more efficient, but lamb actually had a higher a dot than George Pickens last year.
13:03And Pickens was still better on a per target and per catch basis.
13:07And in week seven through 17, after lamb came back from the injury, excluding week 18 where they played half the snaps, half the game.
13:14Pickens scored more fantasy points per game. So you're, you got the wrong cowboy.
13:19Excellent. Excellent. Excellent. So the guy I keep drafting most often is George Pickens.
13:23Okay. Well, let's let Dave respond to that. And then we'll go into George Pickens.
13:28The one thing that's really got me shook on both of these wide receivers is this track record that I discovered over
13:34the last, what is it like 15 years or 11 years?
13:38Something like that. Where only one receiving duo has repeated top 12 season over season.
13:42Last year, it was close between chase and T Higgins.
13:45They both finished top 13 in PPR points per game.
13:48It's rare. So how do you, how do you split that?
13:52Well, you could look at the stat that you gave Adam, but I don't know how much of that is, is fair.
13:59I don't know how CD lamb performed in those games before Quinn and Williams got there.
14:04And I know that the Dallas team operated differently.
14:06Once Quinn and Williams got there, there were three games in 2025 were both lamb and Pickens each had over 15 PPR points.
14:13There was another two where they had 13 plus, which means there were eight games or one of them did not have 13 plus PPR points.
14:21And it was usually your guy, Mr. Efficiency, George Pickens, which is why I feel like lamb is the better pick, the safer pick.
14:29The targets per game definitely favored lamb. I'm going to go with lamb.
14:33And I just want to be clear. I'm playing devil's advocate doesn't mean I believe all these things.
14:38I would also take lamb over Pickens, but Pickens.
14:41Um, Pickens, the main reason Pickens was better than lamb from week seven through 17 was what Dave already mentioned.
14:47Lamb just didn't catch enough touchdowns. Uh, if I can get the total.
14:51Weeks, I think Pickens was pretty low on touchdowns in that stretch too.
14:55Wasn't he? Yeah. I mean, Dax touchdown rate wasn't as high as it, as it could be.
15:01Dak Prescott, Jamie and I, we talked about this on the network show on Friday with Dan.
15:06Dak Prescott was on pace for almost 4,900 yards.
15:09I know we're not talking about Dak here, but in that stretch, he was on pace for almost 4,900 yards.
15:15The reason why he wasn't like a league winner basically is, uh, he didn't throw that, that many touchdowns, but if he
15:21can get the touchdown rate back up close to 6%, he could certainly be a top five quarterback.
15:27Um, all right. I'm going to let Heath talk about why he's drafting George Pickens, but we do have to take a quick break here.
15:35So just a couple of things again, 5 PM to 8 PM.
15:38Eastern tonight is our draft a thon show. Please join us.
15:42We need you there. We need you participating. We have got man, so many guests.
15:46Ben Gretch is coming on. Jake Seeley, Joe P.
15:49Cappia, Nando Dufino, hopefully Scott Fish. A couple of guys from Sportsline are going to be joining us to give us some player props that they like.
15:57We've got, uh, Rich Rebar coming on to talk advanced stats.
16:01I know I'm forgetting. Oh, we got the front yard fantasy guys on to do some fantasy feud at six o'clock.
16:07What? I apologize. I did talk a little trash last night on Joey Wright's birthday stream about how we were going to,
16:14about how we were going to beat them. Love it.
16:17Uh, the other thing you need to know is while we, Nando's making posters by the way.
16:22Nando has already made me so angry today. Oh, we know.
16:26Well, you don't know. I mean, but you don't know the draft pick he made.
16:30Yeah, we do. Yeah, we do. You know, they took Brees Hall over Javante Williams and it made me crazy.
16:37And why did that make you crazy? That's the one that made you crazy.
16:41I have Brees all ranked higher than Javante Williams.
16:44Well, you're wrong. I usually, he's a bell. He's a bell cow.
16:47Didn't you hear Frank Reich? He confirmed it today.
16:50So is, I, uh, so is Javante Williams on the Cowboys.
16:53Um, anyway, uh, yeah, Nando's coming out tonight. The other thing we need to tell you about is our must draft players page.

19:55Back to players that we keep drafting. Heath, George Pickens.
19:59Yes. And I want to say, I agree with Dave drafting a lot of C.D.
20:03Lamb, the last three or four picks of round one.
20:06And I draft George Pickens in round two. So I am expecting them to repeat.
20:11I expect these two to dominate targets. I have them projected if they both play 17 games for a total of 300 targets, which sounds insane.
20:19But Brian Schottenheimer has been in Dallas for three years.
20:22They've averaged 618 pass attempts per season. They've been top 10 in pass attempts all three of those years.
20:28And the last two years, the defense has been awful.
20:31I get it. But in 2023, Schottenheimer's first year as an offensive coordinator in Dallas, they had a top five defense in both yards and points allowed.
20:39They were third in passing yards and first in passing touchdowns that season.
20:43I love this is going to be one of the most pass heavy offenses in the NFL.
20:48C.D. Lamb's awesome. George Pickens is awesome. Dak Prescott is off.
20:52Awesome. This is just draft them all. I'm so glad you brought that up because we've gotten that question a lot about
20:59their improved defense and Cincinnati's improved defense. And first of all, you're talking about two of the worst defenses in the NFL.
21:05Like they're not going to be top 10. I don't think this year.
21:09But yes, they both teams have a history, especially the Cowboys, of having great.
21:14Well, the Cowboys had great defenses, as he just said, and they still threw a lot.
21:19The Bengals in Burroughs tenure, they've had two good defenses.
21:22One time they didn't throw that much. One time they did throw a lot and went, I believe they went to the Super Bowl that year.
21:30The Pickens was the other guy that I was going to argue with you about.
21:34I guess the only thing is like, let's see, if you look at it really kind of stole your thunder that you
21:41use George Pickens to argue against CeeD Lamb. I know.
21:44You had to try to argue against George Pickens.
21:47If you look at the top 10 wide receivers on a per game basis in PPR, all of them had a target
21:54per out run rate of 25.8% except Pickens. His target per out run rate was 22.6%.
21:59It was more like 24%, you know, if you remove weeks one and two when he wasn't really that involved.
22:05Um, what did I, what was, uh, George Pickens in the last five seasons, George Pickens has the low, the second lowest
22:12target per out run rate of any wide receiver to finish top 10 in PPR points per game.
22:17That's kind of interesting, but I don't think it matters because he'll run so many routes and his target per out run rate was higher.
22:25You know, after, after a slow start to this season, those first two games, it moved up.
22:30I don't have an argument. Okay. Jamie, I have just two things.
22:34I'm curious to see. First off is the hype that Ryan Flannoy got early in camp.
22:39Does he throw a little bit of a wrench into the targets these guys are going to get?
22:44And then Jake Ferguson, is he going away? He's not going away in the red zone.
22:49That's the problem. Did Jamie just go away when he asked me?
22:53Wow. He just Mike dropped there and left. I mean, there's no better Mike.
22:57Now we heard John Ferguson too. You, you, you literally said, and it's Jake Ferguson going away.
23:02And then you went away. Uh, well done. What do you think he's, um, I, I think they're going to throw enough
23:09to where like, I have Jake Ferguson projected for 98 targets.
23:12There's still 92 targets left for a wide receiver.
23:15I just, I think that this team throws the ball and maybe that maybe this will be the year that they, that changes.
23:22Um, but it's not just like a super high pass rate.
23:26They've run more than 1100 plays each of the three season that Schuttenheimer has been there.
23:31And so that's a, I mean, that's just, that's four more plays per game that everybody's running.
23:36So I just think that, yeah, Jake Ferguson's probably going to be a borderline tight end one, um, that I think is
23:43being drafted too high, but he probably will be.
23:45I don't think they'll throw to their running backs as much as most teams, because why would you, when you have CD
23:52lamb and George Pickens and Javante Williams was like the worst pass catching running back in the NFL history last year.
23:59Yeah. Okay. Let's, uh, go to Jamie's next round here.
24:02Must draft player or player. You keep drafting pick one.
24:05Oh, let's see. The other argument I had was swift real.
24:08I mean, it's a quick argument. The last 11 games of the year when Kyle Mononga started getting involved, he averaged 13
24:15swift average 13.9 PPR fantasy points per game over a full season.
24:19That would have made him RB 18 per game.
24:21Uh, this does not count week nine, by the way, which, which swift missed.
24:26Uh, so yeah, I mean, is he going to be better than that?
24:30I mean, Mononga is not out for the year.
24:33Mononga might be ready for week one. I don't know if he's been pushed up so far, uh, in draft that it's
24:39become a little difficult to draft swift. Most of the shares I have of swift, I got in rounds four and in some cases around five.
24:47Um, but I still think the fact that they've just been raving about him.
24:52I think they said he's had the best camp of anybody on the team.
24:56Um, and Mononga is out for however long when I'm guys out probably going to be a little bit of a ramp up period.
25:03Until Mononga is back in maybe the same type of workload that we saw from him last year, but he's always been
25:10sort of criminally underrated in how he's finished and how he's performed.
25:14And even last year, um, in some cases, I think you've mentioned that he's been, he was better when Mononga was involved
25:21in the second half of the season or his workload didn't really change in the second half of the season.
25:27So I think there's just a good running back on a very good offense that has his competition, maybe not there for
25:33however long of a time that Mononga is not there.
25:37So to go back to Heath's point, like, I don't think he's elite because otherwise we'd be drafting him in the first two rounds.
25:44But I think when you get to that second group of guys, which starts really with Jacobs, I guess.
25:50Uh, so Jacobs, Kyron Williams, that group, like he's right in the mix.
25:54He should be in the mix. He's, you know, at this point I'm taking him ahead of Jeremiah Love.
26:00I don't know if that's going to be the case reflective of ADP, especially now that we saw Love carrying pizzas upstairs.
26:06Um, but, uh, you have, you know, that group of guys behind him or initially, and, and, you know, I'll, I'll, you know, full disclosure.
26:14Like I thought this is going to be a better year for Scadaboo than Swift for Judkins than Swift.
26:20And that's been a, you know, rapid change based on everything that we've seen, um, happened a while ago, but it's, you
26:27know, certainly something worth noting that, you know, I thought those guys had a better, better outlook than them because of Mononga.
26:34And then when Mononga got hurt, it was just easy to put Swift ahead of them.
26:38And then all you're just hearing is great things about Swift.
26:42I guess this kind of goes back to what I was talking about with Heath earlier.
26:47When do you, do you fear that maybe you could be overreacting to preseason injuries to Mononga and love putting Deandre Swift
26:54ahead of Jeremiah Love where they probably weren't even really close, uh, a month ago.
26:58No, but you have injury for one and backfield mate injured for the other, but look at him carry the pizzas.
27:05He looks great. It was great. He was, you know, no limp.
27:08Yeah. All good. I look, if, if Jeremiah Love hits, the ceiling is higher.
27:13You know, we saw this with a high profile rookie on a bad team last year with Ashton Gentry that he was RB 16, you know?
27:21So I think that's kind of the range of outcomes for Deandre Swift going into it right now.
27:26And if Mononga misses more time, you know, we've said this about, oh, when you draft Blake Corum, what if Karen Williams misses?
27:33If you draft Mononga, what if Swift was as well?
27:36When the backup misses, you know, the better player might be actually amazing.
27:40And so Deandre Swift, if he has a stretch of games without Mononga, which could be the start of the season, that's probably a top 10 running back.
27:49Yeah. Yeah. I do think it's just kind of a couple of things.
27:53Like one, I've had Swift and Love very, very close for most of the summer, just because I've expected Algier to have
28:00a bigger role than we expect than we hope he does early in the year.
28:04But the other thing is, I feel like you're just, we're drafting Swift where he's probably going to finish unless Mononga misses
28:11time and then he's going to smash. All right, Dave, last round here for you of your second player that you are drafting.
28:18Why are you saying round? Who the hell do you keep drafting, Dave?
28:22That's what I want to hear. Yeah. Let's stick in Chicago and talk about Colson Loveland, who I've been gravitating toward with a late third round pick.
28:31And therefore, I've got some teams that have CeeDee Lamb and Colson Loveland on him because they're both late in those first couple of odd rounds.
28:39You take out those first eight games when he was working his way back from an injury and learning the offense.
28:45And Loveland averaged nearly 12 PPR points per game, over seven non-PPR points per game, was getting 7.3 targets per game.
28:51That's six games from week 10 through 13 and in the playoffs.
28:55And that's probably a fair expectation for Loveland because Burden was on the field, Odunze was on the field.
29:01That's who he's going to be sharing with this year.
29:04That might be the floor because we know that his last four games of the year, he had at least 10 targets in every game.
29:12He had 20 PPR points, 13 non-PPR points. He actually averaged 12 targets per game.
29:16Odunze missed two of those four games. I just think that he's going to have a great chance to be the target leader in Chicago.
29:24There aren't a lot of tight ends that can do this.
29:27We think that Bowers is going to do that in Las Vegas.
29:31Yeah, I think that's pretty safe. I still think McBride can be that guy in Arizona, and I think Loveland can be that guy in Chicago.
29:39And he's way more of a matchup nightmare than an inline blocker or any of that other stuff that tight ends do.
29:46I expect him to be a humongous part of the Chicago offense.
29:50Their schedule at the beginning of the year, Carolina in week one, Minnesota in week two, Philly in week three, Jets in week four.
29:57That group of four kind of scares me a little bit more for Swift than it does for Loveland.
30:03And I think we could see Loveland come down with some huge games then and just carry it all season long.
30:09Okay, sounds good. So let's see if I can remember here.
30:13For Heath, it was Sam Laporta and George Pickens.
30:15For Dave, it was CeeDee Lamb and Colson Loveland.
30:18Jamie was Justin Herbert and DeAndre Swift. And we have many, many more names to give you.
30:23But let's go through the news and notes. Ashton Gentty is on the mend, according to Raiders head coach Clint Kubiak.
30:30Ken Walker mispracticed with a foot issue. Jamie, I know Ken Walker is also on players you keep drafting list.
30:36Any concerns here about Kenneth Walker? No. Okay. Seems like it was just a maintenance day.
30:41Frank Reich called Garrett Wilson and Brees Hall bell cows, Heath.
30:44What did you make of that? I think we already expected Garrett Wilson to be the bell cow in that offense in terms of wide receivers.
30:52Though I've never heard that phrase used for a wide receiver.
30:56But it's fine. That was kind of the expectation.
30:59Listen, what's the nice way to say it? It would only make sense for Brees Hall to be that.
31:04This is a team that's going to need to score some points.
31:08He's their best running back by far. He's their best pass-catching running back by far.
31:13And if he's healthy, he may turn out that kind of like I think with Luther Burden, the injury just gave you a great discount on Brees Hall.
31:21Yeah. I think after this comment yesterday, thinking about what Dave has always used as the argument against Brees Hall, which is
31:28accurate in that Frank Reich has always used multiple running backs.
31:32And Frank Reich has been fired everywhere he's been for multiple reasons.
31:35This could be one of them that he hasn't featured his best players enough.
31:40Like, use your best guys. I don't know. That's just crazy.
31:43I love the sound of that. I wish he'd listened to you.
31:47And the Jets staff last year basically listened. And they gave Brees Hall 17.4 touches a game.
31:52That's pretty close to bell cow work if you ask me.
31:55And he still averaged 13. But everything is upgraded.
31:58To whatever degree you want to say upgraded, it's upgraded.
32:01Yeah. I hope so. Yeah, I was going to say that.
32:04I mean, he was a bell cow last year, and he was RB 21 per game.
32:09Because bell cow for the Jets last year was 258 carries and 38 catches.
32:14That was a 17-game pace. Hall missed one game.
32:16They just didn't run enough plays. They've been bottom three in goal line carries three straight years.
32:22It can't get any worse. Right? Like, that's the thing.
32:25It can't get any worse. He was RB 21 per game.
32:28So if you're drafting a coach. Sure, again, he has a groin injury.
32:32Well, it doesn't really seem like he has a serious groin injury here.
32:36Not yet. But if he's healthy, I don't know how he finishes worse than RB 21, you know?
32:42It seems like that was his four. Where is he being drafted right now?
32:46He's not being drafted anywhere near RB 21. Right behind Swift, isn't he?
32:50I think he's RB 20. Yeah, I thought he was 19 last time I checked.
32:55So that's 19. Yeah. I think that's perfectly fair value for what we're talking about right now.
33:00He was getting drafted a lot higher before the injury, but now you're getting a discount on what could be a great player.
33:07I see RB. He and Travis. Fantasy. He and Travis HN are two ships passing in the night.
33:13They are. Next time you blink, HN will be ahead and all will be 20.
33:17Now you got me thinking about how often I blink.
33:20Jamar Chase hyper extended his knee. Oh, that was scary.
33:23Is he still the third overall pick for you guys?
33:26Jamar Chase? He's fine. Yes. Yeah. Okay, cool. Sam Laporta is back.
33:30Mike Evans mispracticed with a groin injury. They're still downplaying it.
33:33But is anybody downgrading Mike Evans yet? I can't because I was already so low.
33:38But where do you have him? Like round seven.
33:41Yeah, I've got him at the end of round six.
33:44Okay. He's fallen from round five to round six for me.
33:47Yeah. Yeah. Brian Thomas Jr. got hurt. How do you feel about Mike Evans?
33:52Yeah, downgrading. Downgrading Evans. Like, you know it's bad when you'd rather draft from Andre Stevenson.
33:57Well, I think that's selling from Andre Stevenson a little short.
34:00But no, I wouldn't rather draft from Andre. I'd still rather have Mike Evans.
34:04Oh, okay. The question is, I just don't know if I want Parker Washington and Christian Watson and Jameis and Williams ahead of Mike Evans.
34:12I do. The answer is yes. Yeah, I know for you guys, but I've always been like super high on Mike Evans.
34:19Yeah, well, let's change. If Frank Wright can change, then you can change too, Adam.
34:23Everybody can change. But yeah, I still think he's got really good sort of sleeper appeal at late round six.
34:29I think if he's healthy, he's going to be really good.
34:33That's where I come out on it. That's a big if.
34:36It's already two injuries this training camp. Yeah. Chris Olave left practice, got the wind knocked out of him.
34:42He should be fine. Travion Henderson not back at practice yet.
34:45He slipped the other day. Alec Pierce is expected to practice next week.
34:49Did you guys move Alec Pierce up on the news?
34:53No. No. Have you just left that in your notes for all of training camp?
34:57Because he has been expected to practice next week.
35:00Like, did you see? Listen, we make too much of these things sometimes.
35:04But we talked about the Jeremiah Love walking with the pizza.
35:07Did you guys see the video of Alec Pierce walking from behind on the field?
35:12Weird, right? Did. Yes. His legs do not look the same size.
35:16He did not look like he was walking like with a normal gait.
35:20I'm very concerned. Okay. We've got Nate Atkins of The Athletic saying that Devontae Adams was great in joint practices against the Cowboys and the Saints.
35:28He was virtually uncoverable. That's Devontae Adams. That's good.
35:30How long has Puka been out for? It's been like two weeks already with the groin, right?
35:36Yeah, he's been out. I believe two weeks is close.
35:39Yeah. Yeah. I'm starting to get interested in Devontae again.
35:42Was that sloth from the Goonies? No, that was Sylvester Stallone from Rocky IV.
35:46Everybody can. If I can change. Imagine sloth going.
35:49We can change. Yeah. It's kind of sad that my Sylvester Stallone sounds a little bit too much like sloth.
35:55Anyway, Ian Rappaport says the Falcons quarterback job is basically Michael Penix's for the taking and the Falcons still haven't named a starter.
36:02Rams edge rusher Miles Garrett remains out with a knee issue.
36:06A couple of teams that might, you know, maybe, you know what we need to do is an offensive line episode.
36:12We need to do that. But two teams that need some help.
36:16The Commanders signed offensive tackle DJ Humphreys. The Chiefs acquired offensive lineman Joshua Izudu from the Giants for a seventh round pick in 2028.
36:23I don't think these are going to really move the needle for those teams, but it's just a reminder that like the
36:30Chiefs are struggling at right tackle right now. And the Commanders obviously could be struggling on their offensive line without Tunsil.
36:36Giants wide receiver Calvin Austin sustained a potentially serious knee injury.
36:40It's a torn ACL. That stinks. Yeah. Rookie tight ends Eli Stowers for the Eagles.
36:44Oscar Delt for the Saints. They have hamstring injuries.
36:47And Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq is going to have his workload scaled back early in the season.
36:53He's missed all of camp with an injury. Hopefully plays week one, but won't have a full role.
36:58All right, we can get back to players. We keep on drafting and Heath gave us Laporta and Pickens.
37:04You've got three other players. One of them is DeAndre Swift.
37:08Let me ask you with Rasheed Rice. I talked about this with Jamie, I think last week, but it's like based on
37:14what he's done, I don't get how he's a late second round pick or third round pick.
37:20He should be a late first round pick based on what he's done.
37:24Why do you think there's such value in Rasheed Rice?
37:27Well, I think some of it is the knucklehead factor.
37:30Some of it is the people are just worried that he's going to do something else that he shouldn't do.
37:36Some of it is the video of him running a deep post where he looked kind of like Alec Pierce, except he was trying to run.
37:44And then some of it is Kenneth Walker and fear that all these screens they're throwing to him are going to take away from Rasheed Rice's target share.
37:53I thought there was a pretty good quote from Eric Biennemi came out yesterday or the day before talking about how he
37:59thinks that Rice can be even better. Sounded pretty optimistic.
38:03I don't see anybody in this receiving core that's going to cut into his target share.
38:07And the thing that I love about drafting him where you can is that we can take a 10-15% hit in target
38:14share, which would be maybe 20 targets off the top and give those to Kenneth Walker.
38:19And he's still a good pick late in round two, early in round three.
38:23So, Nico Collins, George Pickens, Rasheed Rice. How do you rank them?
38:27Heath, Dave, Jamie. Go ahead. Nico Pickens. Pickens, Rice, Nico.
38:30Collins, Pickens, Rice. Collins, Rice, Pickens. It's a tough call.
38:33It's a tough call that people are going to have to make.
38:37Those are great picks at the 2-3 turn. How about Bowers?
38:40Do you take Bowers ahead of all those guys?
38:43I've got Bowers ahead of Pickens and Rice. I do not.
38:47I have Bowers ahead of Pickens and Rice. It really depends, too.
38:50I just took Bowers ahead of – No, I think maybe ahead of Nico in the FFT Open.
38:56Rice went right before me at the 2-3 turn, and then I took Pickens and Bowers.
39:01But it's a two-wide receiver league, and I'm playing against 431 other teams.
39:05And so I wanted the upside of have Brock Bowers on my team, and hopefully I can find a great wide receiver, too, later.
39:12All right, give me 30 seconds on Brock Purdy, and then we'll take a break, and we'll get to Jamie and Dave's list.
39:19Have I said this 17 times yet this year?
39:22Through Week 17 last year, Brock Purdy was the number one quarterback on a per-game basis.
39:27Over the last three seasons, Brock Purdy is the QB4 on a per-game basis.
39:31Listen, there's lots of question marks about his receiving weapons.
39:34I can't imagine it's going to be worse than it was last year, and he was awesome.
39:39And he's even talking about how – I think Purdy is one of those guys that if you look at what he's
39:46done as a rusher over the last couple of years, which over the last two seasons, his 17-game pace for rushing is like 360 yards and five-and-a-half touchdowns.
39:55And it seems like, yeah, but you probably can't count on that.
39:59And the only thing I've heard about Brock Purdy rushing was Purdy himself talking about how he wants to do more with his legs this year.
40:07Yeah. All right. You have taken Brock Purdy, and we'll look at just NFC draft position over the last five days.
40:13Brock Purdy is QB12 in between Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff.
40:16He's QB8 for me, and he's closer to Dak at QB7 than he is to the other guys.
40:22All right, we're going to take a break. We got a lot more guys to get to here on the players we keep on drafting list.
40:30We'll be right back. Okay, we're back with Jamie's list.
40:33Jamie's already given us Justin Herbert and DeAndre Swift.
40:36A lot more names on the list if you want to just fire through them.
40:40Ready? Trevor Lawrence. I mean, it's hard to avoid the rapid rise that I've seen in ADP, which is a little frustrating
40:47because he was such a good price for what the upside could be.
40:51So now I think on our site, he's up to QB7 or 8.
40:55Just very, very rapid rise. But it makes sense.
40:58You see what he could be coming off of last year, over 30 fantasy points per game to close the season, including the playoffs.
41:05The run game could be a little suspect, clearly, with the loss of Travis Achan.
41:10I feel like when we talk about it in past tense, we have to say Etienne, but Travis Achan.
41:16And here's these receivers that may be the best group of receivers that he's ever played with, if Travis Hunter is going to do anything significant.
41:24So I just think that this is one of the better breakout quarterbacks for the season.
41:29Again, you got the little portion of it last year, and we've seen that snippets from him over the course of his career.
41:36I just hope we can put it together. So Liam Cohn's gotten great production from the last two quarterbacks that he's worked
41:43with, Baker Mayfield 2024, Trevor Lawrence 2025. Big influence on the rushing production for both of those quarterbacks.
41:48I don't think we're getting nine rushing touchdowns again from Lawrence, but as I think we talked about on Fantasy Football to
41:55Express, I think you can get 400 yards and maybe three to five touchdowns from him on the ground, and I think
42:02that's going to boost his numbers significantly. So right now ADP has Caleb Williams as QB8, Trevor Lawrence QB9, Justin Herbert QB10.
42:08That's CBS ADP. How would you rank them? Caleb, Lawrence, and Herbert, and they're all within about 14 picks of each other.
42:15Herbert, Lawrence, Caleb. Dave? Double checking, I've got Herbert, Lawrence, Caleb Williams, all top 10.
42:20You want me to do it as well? Oh, yeah.
42:23Purdy, Lawrence, Herbert, Caleb. Okay. Let's go to some more.
42:26Ken Walker. I don't know if there's much else you want to say about Ken Walker, but I'll just ask you now.
42:33We got Hampton, Kenneth Walker, Barkley, Henry, Jamie. How do you rank?
42:37Oh, and let's throw HN in there. So Hampton, Walker, Barkley, HN, Henry.
42:41How do you rank them? Walker, Hampton, HN, Barkley, Gentie.
42:44Henry? Barkley, Henry, Gentie. Is there anything for you guys when you're deciding between those running backs?
42:49Chase Brown and James Cook and Taylor and McCaffrey are off the board, and you're deciding between those, call them early round two running backs.
42:57Hampton, Walker, Henry, Barkley, HN, Gentie. Is there one deciding factor that makes Jamie, you take Walker first?
43:02Dave, I don't know who you take first, Heath, et cetera.
43:05But Jamie, you can start. What's the one deciding factor for Walker?
43:09I think just getting the opportunity to be the featured guy, because when he's been the featured guy in his career, he's been pretty awesome.
43:17And now he gets that chance. We saw it in the playoffs when Charbonnet was not there.
43:22Scored more points per game in that four-game stretch when you factor in the divisional round through the Super Bowl than Christian
43:29McCaffrey did for the season, points per game-wise. So, like, I'm terrified of the Dolphins' offense, which is why I take him over HN.
43:36The other report we got yesterday, it just gets worse by the day.
43:40What was that? It was Omar Kelly and then another one of their – maybe it was the day before, but Omar Kelly and then Joe Shad.
43:49When Malik Willis brought the team together in the middle of the field and just said, guys, we've got to do something better, basically.
43:56Like, if they're not producing against their own defense, which is not going to be good, like, it's going to be a struggle.
44:03So I don't care how many times HN's going to touch the ball, he's not going to score a lot of touchdowns.
44:10And I'm just terrified of the entire process of where he's getting drafted.
44:14So I'd much rather take the guy on the Chiefs that Andy Reid's had a lot of success with his backfields when he's had good running backs.
44:22Hampton, I think, you know, we'll see what this Keaton Mitchell injury is and the timeshare that that could still unfold.
44:29Forget about what Mike McDaniel said, they're going to use a couple of guys there.
44:33So I like Walker's situation a little bit better.
44:36Henry is obviously such a wild card here, but their offensive line just got worse.
44:41And, you know, no fullback. We'll see how that goes.
44:44So it's just more nitpicking there. And Barkley, I think just coming off the year that he had, he'll be better.
44:50But I think Walker's trajectory for me is a little bit safer.
44:54So that's why I lean Walker the highest. Take Walker the highest.
44:58Dave, your favorite in that group of five and why?
45:01A-chan. Jamie talked about you want a guy that's going to have a feature workload.
45:05A-chan's had it the past two seasons. The worst he's been is 17.6 full PPR points per game.
45:11That's better than any year Kenneth Walker's had. And granted, Walker is going to get a great opportunity in Kansas City.
45:17But the thing that I keep going back to, two of them with Walker.
45:22And I've moved him up. I'm taking him now as a top 15 pick.
45:26Number one, we know that he's a little injury prone.
45:29Seahawks were afraid of it. That's why they didn't run him out there all the time until the end of the year
45:36when they knew that they were going to let him go into free agency.
45:40And he's already dealing with a foot injury now.
45:43It's minor. That's fine. Two, Patrick Mahomes is still the quarterback of this team.
45:47And from all accounts who have gone to Kansas City's camp, he looks the same as he did before.
45:53And that there are no lingering effects of the ACL.
45:56And push comes to shove. I still think Mahomes is going to do his thing in the offense.
46:02And Walker will be, I say next in line.
46:04And I don't necessarily mean that as a bad thing.
46:07Obviously, they're going to want to run the ball more.
46:10And Walker gives them the chance to be more effective.
46:14And I think Walker will be good. But I'm just a little bit worried about Walker having that offensive player of the year type season.
46:21Because I'm not sure if he can play enough games to earn that award.
46:26Because I'm not sure he's going to get the ball in the high leverage situations that we want him to every single time.
46:33Whereas A-chan, yes, he's going to get the ball a lot.
46:36I am more convinced than ever that he's also going to catch plenty of passes.
46:41Saw it in the joint practice against the Giants.
46:43He had a couple of checkdowns. He had three design targets in the game.
46:48I think that we're going to see him be a big, big part of what they do.
46:53And that was an in, I can't say an in-game adjustment, an in-practice adjustment.
46:57Because that Giants pass rush was getting to Malik Willis really quickly.
47:01So that encouraged me. And I don't think he's going to be as good as he was last year, Devon A-chan.
47:07I don't think he's going to be 20 points per game.
47:11But I bet he gets to 17. And I think that that's going to be better than Kenneth Walker.
47:17And so A-chan is at the top of the list for me.
47:20I love the case for Hampton. He's ahead of Walker too.
47:24My top three from that list. A-chan, Hampton, Walker.
47:27Back to back to back. End of round one.
47:29Beginning of round two. Okay. Heath? A-chan, Walker, Hampton.
47:32Everything Dave said about A-chan. Cool. Jamie also likes Jordan Mason.
47:35I think I took him 80th overall, Jamie, in the FFT Open.
47:39Is that too early for Jordan Mason? He's kind of getting to that point where it's a little too soon.
47:45But that's kind of where I think you see a little bit of a tear break in the running backs.
47:51So once you get past the Patriots guys, the Steelers guys, he's in the mix for me with Ja'Cory Krosky-Meritt and the
47:58Broncos guys and start to get into that group of ugh.
48:02I think for Mason, you know, the reports and the preseason action don't mesh so far.
48:07So it's really what do you believe? Because everything you hear out of Minnesota is Mason is their running downs guy.
48:13Then we get to the – I don't think they both – I don't think they played in the second preseason game.
48:20But the first preseason game, you get Mason and Jones sort of alternating drives here.
48:24Yeah. So that's a little bit tough to buy that Mason should be going so far ahead of Jones or even ahead of Jones to begin with.
48:33Because if he's going to share rushing downs work, he's definitely going to have passing downs work because that's not what Mason does.
48:40He's got 28 catches in his career. So, you know, David brought this up.
48:44You know, they've implemented a different rushing scheme to favor Mason or that caters more to what Mason does.
48:50I don't know what they did just for Mason.
48:53Caters more to what Mason has had success in when you go back to his days in San Francisco.
48:59But if you just look at it, he's the younger running back.
49:02He averages five yards per carry for his career, 4.8 yards per carry during his time with Minnesota.
49:08This is a much more explosive rusher at this point than Aaron Jones.
49:12And then you factor in Jones' durability where he missed time last year and fought through a bunch of injuries the year before.
49:19Plus, he's going to be 33. So, I just think when you're looking at it, if you want a safe borderline flex, good backup running back.
49:27Maybe if things break right because he did average over 13 PPR points per game in the five-game Jones missed last year.
49:34That's the type of player you're talking about. So, not to the same heights of like a Blake Corum who should go
49:40ahead of him or Monongai when he's right. If you're just looking for, okay, who has higher potential if the starter gets hurt.
49:48But if you're looking for like a safe type of RB4, really, I think Jordan Mason qualifies.
49:53Packers, Bears, Bucs, Dolphins, Saints. First five games of the year for Minnesota.
49:57I think that's a great platform for Mason to take off.
50:00I agree with Jamie on the Aaron Jones thing.
50:03There's something that's not connecting here because I thought Jones looked pretty good in the preseason.
50:08But I would imagine that the Vikings will kind of treat the veteran with kid gloves and not use them a ton.
50:15And the Mason, I love the idea of getting him in that round eight range as a running back that you can
50:21start the season with in your lineup. But we all agree that 80 is too early, right?
50:2780 is too early. Well, that's the thing. It's like, like I said yesterday, 80 is too early in theory.
50:33But the way the draft was going, Jordan Mason was one of the last potential starting running backs.
50:38Like I consider him differently than I consider Kenneth Gainwell and Rashad White.
50:42You should. Those are the guys who were going after.
50:45Ja'Cory Krosky-Merritt also went after him. And I think they're pretty similar.
50:49But Ja'Cory Krosky-Merritt went like seven picks after him.
50:52So it wasn't realistic to get a starting running back in the hundreds.
50:56Of course, I think Jordan Mason. Yeah. I'm sorry.
50:59I didn't mean to interrupt. But you did. This is the podcast league draft?
51:03No, this was the FFT. My FFT openly. Okay.
51:06I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I was going to say the podcast league.
51:09How many. So how many running backs did you have when you made that?
51:14So you only had one? I think he was my third.
51:17Okay. Yeah. Okay. It's really like when you start to compare him and, and, and several of the guys that, you know, were mentioned, including Ja'Cory Krosky-Merritt.
51:25Like when you start to compare him to Wondale Robinson and Quinton Johnston and Cortland Sutton and those type of receivers that
51:32does it make sense to take your third or fourth running back versus your fourth or fifth receiver.
51:38And where does the upside lie with those players?
51:41I absolutely, that's a great point and a great question.
51:44And I absolutely think you, not in every case, but I lean running back there because I know receiver, there's like 30
51:50more receivers than including the Jalen Coker and Jaden Reed.
51:53Right. So that's, that's, that's the perfect way to frame it.
51:57Like, do you want to have Jordan Mason and Deshaun Stribbling, for example, or Jordan Mason and Jalen Coker, or do you
52:04want to have Wondale Robinson and RJ Harvey? Yeah.
52:06Yeah. Whatever it is. I mean, I think we've all talked about how you get to rounds nine, 10, 11, maybe not 11, but eight, nine, 10.
52:15And you're still looking at some wide receivers like, oh, I'm happy to get this guy here.
52:20And I think it dries up at running back pretty early.
52:23You know, 80, I don't know. Like ADP tells a different story.
52:27What happened in the draft, the FFT open draft made me take Jordan Mason because I didn't want to be without a reliable number three.
52:35You can't, you can't really rely strictly on ADP because now we're starting to see kickers and defenses get pushed up to
52:41levels that the casual drafters take that most seasoned fantasy players do not.
52:45Yeah. That's why tears are so important at every position.
52:49All right. Uh, let's wrap up Jamie here. You just got Coker, Coker and Jaden Reed late Isaiah likely and Travis Kelsey, but running out of time.
52:57So I'm just going to ask you about, well, real quick on likely and Kelsey, how much earlier do you take likely than Kelsey?
53:04Uh, maybe two rounds. You know, I, I think, you know, once you start to get to that group of the middle,
53:11the middle group of tight ends, which I think still ends with fan and I would take likely over fan and, but that ends with fan.
53:19And so when I see fan and come off the board and I don't have a tight end at that point, that's
53:26when I start to look for likely. If I miss likely it's usually, uh, Kelsey's the fallback option.
53:31So with two wide receivers that could go in round three, Devante Smith and T Higgins, they're on the players you keep drafting list.
53:39Do you ever take both of them or is this a decision you have to make Devante Smith, T Higgins?
53:45Higgins falls much more often than Smith does, you know, and I think we'll start to see Smith rise a couple of
53:52spots now that he's back at practice and there's no legitimate concern, not that there was ever a concern, but no legitimate concern about his hamstring.
54:00So I was in a draft last night, 12 team PPR.
54:03I had the 11th pick. I got Smith at the end of round three.
54:07Um, I think Higgins might've went early around four.
54:10Um, so, you know, it, you see Higgins, I think much more in the round four early part of round four range.
54:17So Higgins is a late round three for mix for me.
54:20Smith is an early round three pick for me.
54:23Um, I just, whenever I see Higgins around four and I can draft him, I do it.
54:28Yep. He's basically been a top 16 wide receiver every year based on his points per game when Burrow and chase and
54:35Higgins have all been healthy, performs like a top 16 wide receiver, except for a terrible 2023 season.
54:41I believe that's it. Um, Higgins is awesome. All right, Dave, you said CD lamb.
54:45You said Colson Loveland. Jalen Waddle is the other guy I was going to disagree with you on just cause I, I just fear the targets.
54:53Like he had a 33 yard catch. I think it was, uh, in that preseason game.
54:58He looked great, but, but Sutton had two targets on that drive.
55:02Waddle had one, not to say it'll play out that way.
55:05And, um, and then Sutton's always a big factor in the end zone and Waddle really hasn't been.
55:11So I love all of your calls. Uh, and you've talked about Waddle a lot.
55:15This is the one that as a friend of Dave Richard, I get the most nervous about, uh, the way it will play out.
55:23And I'm not nervous at all. I think the Broncos had clear intention that they wanted to improve their receiving core and
55:30not lean on the corporation of, or I should say conglomerate of Sutton, Franklin, Mims, uh, Pat Bryant.
55:35I know Bryant's gotten some great pub and camp and he's looked good.
55:39They needed somebody like Jalen Waddle to stretch the field both vertically and horizontally line up anywhere.
55:44Catch short passes, make a play after the catch.
55:47Catch downfield passes, make a play after the catch.
55:50And we've seen it from Sean Payton before when he's got that dude at wide receiver, he hyper targets him.
55:56It was Michael Thomas many moons ago in new Orleans, Marcus Colston before that.
56:00He hasn't quite had that guy in Denver, but two years ago, Corlin Sutton had a ton of targets then.
56:07And I don't really buy into the theory that targets are going to be spread all around.
56:12And I don't think the Broncos want to do that when it comes to Waddle because of the investment that they've made in him.
56:19I think he's outstanding. I love the way that he looked in the preseason game.
56:24The camp reports have been great too. People are worried about him missing time.
56:28He's played at least 14 games every year of his career.
56:31He is not shackled by Tyreek Hill and Devon Achan in a pop offense in Miami now.
56:37This is going to be a better version. Bo Nix also looks good.
56:41The offensive line is healthy. I'm actually hyped about this Broncos offense.
56:44And I think that their run game is the biggest question mark of all.
56:49And now here's somebody that can help take some pressure off that run game on short screens, those layup throws that we talk about, Adam.
56:56I think Jalen Waddle is going to be one of the best values on draft day.
57:01Love his ADP. I would take him a full round ahead of his ADP.
57:06So you'd take him. ADP is amazing. What is, let's see?
57:09Round five. Yeah. I mean, I think I have him as like a round three pick because I'm insane.
57:15He's like a round three, four pick for me.
57:18So I'm getting him in pretty much every draft I'm in because I'm taking him higher than anyone else on the planet.
57:24Like Jalen Waddle's mom isn't taking him as high as I'm taking him at this point.
57:29Someone asked in the chat, Dave, Waddle or Garrett Wilson?
57:32I have Wilson in full PPR one spot ahead of Waddle.
57:36Okay. Okay. And more players? I mean, he's a bell cow receiver after all, Garrett Wilson.
57:41I'm curious why you think their run game is going to be bad though.
57:45Because I just, I don't think, I don't think they've got a guy that they really want to put the whole workload on.
57:52And so they're going to use a rotation of three and they'll be effective, but I don't know if that necessarily means that they're going to be good.
58:01And I think it'll take them a few weeks to get comfortable with the idea of Jonah Coleman getting some work.
58:07We'll see if J.K. Dobbins can hold up and be better than he was last year.
58:12R.J. Harvey is a runner, really wasn't great last year, hasn't been great so far this year.
58:17He's more of a pass catcher. I think that I feel a lot better about Bo Nix throwing than I do about Bo Nix handing off.
58:25I wonder if Sean Payton feels that way though.
58:28I don't think Dave said the running game would be bad.
58:32I think he said it's the biggest question mark.
58:34It's the biggest question mark. But it could be bad too.
58:38I mean, especially, I'll say if J.K. Dobbins misses time.
58:41Because I love Jonah Coleman. He's one of the guys on my list too.
58:45Taking him in the double digit rounds every draft that I can.
58:49But I don't know if he's truly ready. I know Sean Payton is talking like Coleman is just ready.
58:55I'm not 100% sure that he is. And so there could be some lingering effects of the decisions that the Broncos have
59:01made with their run game over the last couple of seasons.
59:05You also have Isaiah Likely on the players you keep on drafting lists, just like Jamie.
59:10I moved him back ahead of Pitts in full PPR too after what I saw in the joint practice against the Dolphins.
59:16Do we think it's going to stay that way when Neighbors is back, which seems to be week one?
59:22Yeah, this is the – remember how Zach Ertz had this middle of the field role in Washington where he would just
59:29catch all these short throws whenever the number one read was covered?
59:33I think that's Likely's role with a little bit more on top.
59:36I think there's going to be some plays where Likely works downfield a little bit more often.
59:42He's got the athleticism to make plays after the catch.
59:45To me, it's the only part of the Giants offense that I'm confident in at this point as far as naming specific
59:52players because I'm really confused on the run game at this point.
59:55And I think Neighbors is going to be great.
59:58I'm drafting them like Neighbors is going to be great.
60:01But I can't say with 100% certainty that Neighbors will be great.
60:05I do think Likely will be very good and worth a round seven slash eight pick.
60:10I believe that's ahead of ADP. And his track record when he's had volume has been outstanding for fantasy.
60:16Starting to think he won't be 12.5 PPR points per game like he's been in eight of nine career games with at least six targets.
60:23But he can get to, let's call it 11.
60:26And that's really good value in the middle of the draft from a tight end that not everybody's going to gravitate toward.
60:33But they should. Heath, how are you doing over there?
60:36Oh, it's been good. Yeah. I'm going to let you introduce the Parker Washington portion of this show.
60:41Because this is someone that Dave says he keeps on drafting, Parker Washington.
60:45What questions did you have for Dave about Parker Washington?
60:49Oh, thanks. I did draft Parker Washington. I mentioned this in a draft a couple days ago.
60:54And Dave, I took him before Christian Watson and Marvin Harrison Jr.
60:57And Brian Thomas Jr., which I think everybody's taking ahead of Brian Thomas Jr.
61:02now. But taking him ahead of Watson and Harrison in particular really made me feel like I know I did this so
61:09I could have him on one of my teams.
61:11But I feel stupid. No, you just drafted a guy that might end up getting volume and the same type of role
61:18that we've seen from Amon Ross St. Brown. And that's exciting.
61:21And seeing him in person and watching him leap over two bucks defenders for a touchdown in red zone drills from Trevor Lawrence was exciting.
61:29Watching him leap and do the exact same thing on the other sideline, not for a touchdown, but for a first down in drills.
61:37That was exciting. And he's working all areas of the field.
61:40He's willing to run over the middle. Definitely a ton of horizontal routes, just like what we've seen from St.
61:46Brown, JSN, that ilk of wide receiver. And I don't think there's any doubt that he's going to be the top target getter in Jacksonville.
61:54BTJ is awesome. Hopefully the shoulder is fine. Sounds like it's going to be okay.
61:58The team just shut him down in practice. And Liam Cohen said afterwards, yeah, we're just going to get him ready for Cleveland.
62:05And Parker Washington was still dominating. Clearly the number one guy.
62:09The Bucs knew it. And he was still doing very, very well.
62:13There was one play where he had a pass go off his hands.
62:17It was a bullet from Trevor Lawrence over the middle of the field.
62:21I'm going to forgive him for that one. Everything else that he did was pretty great.
62:25I am taking him over every single one of those wide receivers that you said in full PPR.
62:31In non-PPR, I might be a little squeamish about some of those names.
62:35Mainly Christian Watson, because I'm excited about him too.
62:38But I don't think Parker Washington is going away.
62:41Tack on the question mark of their run game.
62:43Tootin looked better than Rodriguez yesterday for what that's worth.
62:46And he seems to have a little more juice than Rodriguez.
62:50But they split pretty evenly in practice. And I just think that Washington is going to be locked into like seven targets per game.
62:57He averaged 6.3 per game overall last year. I had a draft last night where I took Washington in round six.
63:04And then in round eight, Thomas was still sitting there.
63:07I'm like, you know what? That's just too good of value.
63:10Yeah. Parker Washington, if he's good this year, like really good, it would be so improbable for a sixth round pick who,
63:17in the first 36 games of his career, three seasons, three and a half seasons, averaged 37 yards per game, was not
63:24on anyone's fantasy roster unless they had return yards, basically.
63:27And then he finishes the season really strong, including an amazing playoff game.
63:31Coaching. We just, yeah. I'm not ruling it out.
63:34It's just we've never seen, well, I wouldn't say never, but I can't remember anything like that with a day three pick, start their career that slow.
63:42That'd be cool. And the thing for me that helps me fully believe in Parker Washington is that I've seen him develop.
63:49And I remember the joint practice with the Dolphins last year, and he was close to making plays with Trevor Lawrence.
63:55And then by the middle of last season, he had the opportunity.
63:59Travers Hunter got hurt right before Hunter got hurt.
64:02It was supposed to be Hunter who was going to be the big play guy.
64:06And then that middle of the field guy for Jacksonville and Washington just took the role and ran with it.
64:12And he's been in simpatico with Trevor Lawrence ever since.
64:15Okay. Dave also has Patrick Mahomes, who is now going ahead of Jackson Dart and CBS ADP.
64:21He should be. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. How about Purdy or Mahomes?
64:24I've got Mahomes ahead, but the most compelling thing I've heard from Heath this year has been the case for Brock Purdy.
64:31And it's really, really, you can buy into it very easily.
64:34Yeah. Absolutely. I really love it. And it helps that Stribbling has looked better than what the thought was on him before the draft.
64:42It's almost like the Niners, and the Niners have screwed up so many wide receiver picks before, but it looks like they
64:48finally got one that might end up being just right.
64:51And they've worked really hard to fast track Stribbling into the first team offense.
64:56And he will help Brock Purdy. At bare minimum, Purdy is a fantastic value on draft day.
65:01Oh, yeah. He is. so many of those quarterbacks are, but Holmes was like a top three quarterback for much of the year.
65:08Okay. Someone is the rushing though. That's the thing.
65:11He's not going to do that again. He's not going to do that again, but I bet push comes to shove.
65:17He, he will leave some pockets and start running and sliding.
65:21And, well, I mean, obviously he's still going to run, but you go back to there's, there's a pretty telltale example when
65:27he busted his knee on the goal line, tush, push, whatever they were calling it.
65:32And then they just stopped doing that because, Hey, let's not ruin our best asset.
65:37Right. You know, so now never done it again.
65:39Yep. That's fair. But that was multiple years ago.
65:42Yes. A year ago. Andy reads a smart guy.
65:45He realizes, let's not do that. Well, but we're not drafting Mahomes anywhere close to where he finished last year either.
65:51And it's not just because he's coming back from the ACL again.
65:55It sounds like he's over it. It's because Walker's there and Walker is absolutely good.
66:00Also the two years prior to that, he was a mediocre fantasy quarterback.
66:04Correct. He was, but last year is what I'm kind of leaning toward.
66:08I don't think he'll be, I don't think he's going to be as good as he was last year.
66:14That's going to be impossible, but I still think he's one of the top 12 quarterbacks in draft day.
66:19And the fact that I'm able, I've had him in like round 12 in some leagues and I don't even care.
66:26I've drafted Josh Allen and Mahomes on the same team.
66:29I'm just not going to let somebody else get that kind of value that late in the draft.
66:35I'm not reaching for him, but he's absolutely got potential to still be an awesome asset.
66:39And based on two drafts that I'm doing right now, one of them ended the most slow drafts.
66:45Jackson Dart would actually be on my list of players.
66:48I keep drafting. He's gone from a guy that I thought had one of the worst ADPs to like, nobody wants Jackson Dart anymore.
66:55And I'm willing to take a shot with, you know, my one of my last picks because he was so good last season without Malik neighbors.
67:03So let's see if I understand it's been a really bad camp for the giant giants offense.
67:09The same things were said about the bears offense last year with a new offensive coordinator.
67:14It's true. And all the Titans keep that in mind.
67:17Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So here's real quick. My list of players.
67:20I keep drafting Chris Godwin in a wide receiver, heavy draft.
67:24I will take Chris Godwin in round six. I like what Dave tweeted about Chris Godwin.
67:28What Baker Mayfield said about him. He's going to play in the slot.
67:32It's going to be really good for him. I will take him ahead of Marvin Harrison jr.
67:38If I want a safe player, I will take Godwin ahead of Brian Thomas jr.
67:42If I'm looking for more upside and I feel good at receiver, I'll take BTJ.
67:47He has been over Thomas. Fair enough. He's been a top 17 wide receiver per game five times in his career.
67:53He has been a top three receiver twice in his career.
67:57That's insane on a per game basis. Chris Godwin.
68:00I mean, now you love that 80 yard touchdown.
68:02No, I still, I'm, he needs to be, he needs to be a better player than he was last year.
68:08Cause he was really bad last year. He's in a role that's very familiar to him and Mayfield.
68:14I felt like they were on the same page.
68:17I thought Godwin also moved well in the joint practice against Jacksonville.
68:20I liked this call a lot. Adam Travis, a Chan is now a player that I keep on drafting.
68:26I think late round three is certainly in play.
68:29I don't want to overact, overreact too much because Alvin Kamara might not miss much time and Kamara might be the third
68:36down back, but a reminder, Travis, a Chan was the number 14 running back per game in full PPR a little bit better than that.
68:44And the other formats without being the third down back last year, he had 17.4 touches per game that ranked 16th among running backs.
68:51And he finished as a top 14 running back and he should be drafted around 15th or so overall.
68:57But I think he's got a lot of potential because he's clearly the best running back in the saints backfield.
69:03Zach Charbonnet is a player I've been drafting a lot.
69:06I don't know. I don't really think Zach Charbonnet could be a league winner, but if he gets back early in the
69:13season, first of all, I like putting him in an IR spot, freeing up a spot and just, you know, picking up somebody on waivers.
69:20But if he becomes their goal line back again, and he's pretty damn good at that, Zach Charbonnet could be a very good player.
69:28And Derek Henry is not someone that I really went into drafts trying to draft, but I got him, have him in
69:35two of my three FFT open leagues. So Derek Henry, look, top seven running back per game in full PPR for a
69:41guy that never catches the ball in six of the last seven seasons.
69:45And he's being drafted as something like RB 11 right now.
69:49Yeah, he, I know he's 32, but he scores a ton.
69:52And one of the reasons why he didn't have such a great year last year compared to his seventh per game, compared
69:59to other years is Lamar Jackson missed some time.
70:02And he really struggled when Lamar Jackson was out.
70:05So if you assume Lamar Jackson is going to be healthy, should be more touched on opportunities for Derek Henry.
70:11Here goes, I sped, I followed too closely, I ran a stop sign, I almost hit a Chevy, I sped some more,
70:17I failed to yield, I changed lanes without signaling while speeding.
70:21That was the liar liar scene where he just talks really fast.
70:25You know? Okay. That's my list. I think we're done.
70:28We'll talk to you tomorrow. Oh, no, we'll talk to you tonight.
70:31Oh my gosh. We'll talk to you tonight with the draft-a-thon show, 5 to 8 p.m.
70:36Eastern. See you later, everybody. Talk to you. Podcasts.
