44

Alec Pierce

NegativeUsage62:13

Pierce is a 'buy the dip' candidate at his ADP, but he should be benched for week one as he likely won't see the volume needed to be a fantasy starter immediately.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

PositiveProjection70:30

The source is bullish on Baker Mayfield, expecting a slight leveling up in performance and noting he played through multiple injuries last season.

Insight page

Breece Hall

PositiveValue60:55

The source considers Breece Hall a must-start and expects him to be a tremendous profit at his current draft cost.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

PositiveProjection34:07

John Laghezza advises starting Brian Thomas, noting that despite uncertainty about his role, he is a player you should roll out after spending draft capital on him.

Insight page

Bryce Young

NegativeProjection48:20

The source is out on Bryce Young, citing his poor efficiency metrics (6.3 YPA, 6.5 air yards per attempt) and lack of rushing upside, which is a critical flaw for undersized quarterbacks who cannot attack the middle of the field.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

NegativeUsage73:22

The source has been avoiding Bucky Irving but notes that if Sean Tucker is ruled out, Irving becomes a viable start. He warns of a crowded backfield with Kenneth Gainwell as a threat.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveProjection55:25

The source recommends starting Caleb Williams, noting that the Panthers' defense is inefficient and struggles to create pressure, which should allow Williams to perform well.

Insight page

Chris Bell

PositiveSleeper68:18

Bell is a must-add player who is in line for a starting role without restrictions; if he returns to his pre-injury form, he could significantly improve the Dolphins' offense.

Insight page

Chris Rodriguez

PositiveSleeper35:28

John Laghezza highlights Chris Rodriguez as a deeper flex play who projects to be the goal-line back for the Jaguars; he recommends adding him if he is on the waiver wire.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveBreakout79:50

Watson is in line for a breakout season, with the source noting he looks like the best player on the field when working intermediate routes.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

NegativeRole54:09

The source views Chuba Hubbard as a boring but likely lead-back option for Carolina, though he expresses skepticism about his explosive play ability, noting he struggles to break 20-yard runs.

Insight page

Cooper Rush

NegativeProjection18:54

John Laghezza is pessimistic about Cooper Rush starting for the Dolphins, citing his poor performance in Baltimore last year (179 yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs) and the difficulty of facing a Pittsburgh defense that excels at creating pressure.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveBreakout48:57

Moore is a 'freestyler' who excels at finding space when plays break down, which fits perfectly with Josh Allen's playstyle; he is a must-start despite coming off a down season.

Insight page

Dalton Kincaid

PositiveBreakout50:14

Kincaid was underpriced all offseason and is a strong breakout candidate for a top-five tight end finish, especially if Khalil Shakir is limited by injury.

Insight page

Dalton Schultz

NegativeUsage53:54

Schultz is a deep-league option who earns consistent targets but lacks the high-end upside of a player like Dalton Kincaid, as he is primarily a 'catch and fall' tight end.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

PositiveProjection60:22

Jones is practicing without restrictions and is a player to watch; while starting him this week might be risky, his ability to tuck and run makes him effective, and he has the tools to facilitate a high-scoring offense.

Insight page

Dylan Sampson

PositiveSleeper31:35

John Laghezza prefers Dylan Samson over Quinchon Junkins due to superior advanced receiving metrics; he views Samson as a sneaky flex start in deeper leagues.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveBreakout62:08

The source labels Garrett Wilson as a smash pick for the upcoming week.

Insight page

Greg Dulcich

PositiveRole69:06

The source is starting Dulcich over Andrews and all other 'catch and fall' tight ends, noting that he is a strong play for crossers and out routes in the Dolphins' offense.

Insight page

Jalen McMillan

NegativeInjury75:20

Jalen McMillan is doubtful to play due to a potential setback, making him an easy sit for fantasy lineups.

Insight page

James Cook

PositiveProjection48:47

Cook has significant potential to catch more passes this season, and the addition of DJ Moore should help open up the field, making Cook a must-start player.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

PositiveProjection73:11

The source views Daniels as a top-five quarterback who should have been drafted closer to Lamar Jackson, noting his ability to break down plays similarly to Josh Allen.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

PositiveRole81:03

Reed is preferred over Matthew Golden as a high-probability start in divisional games due to his reliability when the chips are down.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

PositiveUsage26:36

John Laghezza is bullish on Jalen Warren, projecting him to step into a high-volume role similar to Kenny Gainwell's usage, making him a rare Steelers player worth starting.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

NegativeUsage54:56

The source is pumping the brakes on Jonathan Brooks until he proves he can handle volume or make a big play in an NFL game, suggesting those who drafted him in the seventh round were likely overpaying.

Insight page

Jordan Addison

NegativeUsage85:28

Addison is considered talented but risky; the source warns that his playing time may be limited by game script and Juwan Jennings' run-blocking role.

Insight page

Josh Downs

PositiveBreakout62:39

Downs is a major breakout candidate who should be started, with the hope that he earns a role in two-wide receiver sets despite the arrival of Keenan Allen.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveProjection84:55

Jefferson is described as a fantastic, legitimate WR1 candidate, though the source expresses uncertainty about Kyler Murray's ability to maximize his ceiling.

Insight page

Keenan Allen

NegativeUsage65:27

Allen has a solid PPR floor and could see significant targets if the Colts are trailing, making him a viable start despite potential usage concerns.

Insight page

Kenneth Gainwell

NegativeUsage45:58

Gainwell is a viable PPR flex option who projects to catch passes, providing a solid floor, but he is unlikely to see red zone or green zone work; expectations should be tempered unless Bucky Irving's shoulder injury becomes a long-term issue, in which case Gainwell could reach top-eight to top-ten weekly RB status.

Insight page
PositiveUsage74:07

The source views Kenneth Gainwell as a significant upgrade over Rashad White due to his pass-catching ability. He is considered a flex-plus option in PPR formats, though he likely lacks red-zone work.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

NegativeUsage23:27

John Laghezza recommends starting Kyle Pitts but notes he would consider benching him for a proven TE1 like Michael Bayer, given the uncertainty surrounding the Falcons' passing game with Cooper Rush.

Insight page

Malik Willis

PositiveBreakout66:12

Willis is a highly rostered quarterback who could 'break fantasy' due to his rushing ability and passing upside; he should be started over any questionable QB options.

Insight page

Mark Andrews

NegativeBust64:04

Andrews is a concern due to poor camp buzz and competition for targets; he is a start if drafted as a TE1, but he is a player the source would rather have Michael Bayer over.

Insight page

Michael Mayer

PositiveValue15:48

John Laghezza suggests he would prefer starting Michael Bayer over Sam LaPorta, citing Bayer's proven ability to perform as a TE1 when filling in for Brock Bowers.

Insight page

Mike Washington Jr.

NegativeUsage70:25

The source advises against starting Washington, expecting his role to diminish as Gentty reclaims the majority of the Raiders' backfield work.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveBreakout52:12

Collins is a freak athlete and a top-tier breakout candidate with the potential to finish as the overall WR1; he showed sustained efficiency last year and could benefit from formation movement and the addition of Kayshawn Booty as a field stretcher.

Insight page

Sam LaPorta

NegativeUsage15:05

John Laghezza advises starting LaPorta because most drafters lack a better replacement, though he expresses caution regarding back-end TE1 consistency against a Saints defense that defended tight ends well last year.

Insight page

Stefon Diggs

PositiveProjection73:53

Diggs is projected for a monster season in Washington, with the source noting he could provide value on volume alone if the team is playing from behind.

Insight page

Terry McLaurin

NegativeProjection74:27

While a must-start for draft capital, the source advises tempering expectations for McLaurin against a legitimate Eagles pass defense.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

PositiveValue60:09

The source identifies Tony Pollard as one of the few Titans players worth starting, even in a difficult matchup, due to his role.

Insight page

Tre Tucker

PositiveBreakout71:01

Tucker is identified as the clear-cut WR1 for the Raiders in the absence of Brock Bowers and is considered a smash play due to his role in the Kubiak system.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

PositiveRole81:26

With no restrictions reported, the source is rolling with Kraft as a starter, though advises having a backup plan like Dulcich or Mike Meyer.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveProjection64:45

Flowers is a must-start who has the potential to finish the season as a high-end WR1.

3:28All right. What's up, everyone? Welcome back. The whistles have blown, and we are kicking off already smack in the middle of NFL Week 1.
3:37It is Fantasy Football Weekly, the very first in-season edition of 2026.
3:41And boy, are we excited. I'm your host, John Laghezza, flying solo today in the Millennial Falcon.
3:47Jake Trowbridge getting a little bit of R&R for the long road ahead.
3:52But I got you. Man, grab a snack and a drink.
3:56Get comfy. We got a long one. We're going to be going over every single game.

4:09All right. Hit me up on the socials at John Legazza.
4:13Any questions and feedback is welcome, as always. But without any further ado, let's just dive on into it.
4:19So much work to do and so little time to do it.
4:24We're starting off. It's New Orleans Saints heading to Ford Field to face the Detroit Lions.
4:29In Detroit, New Orleans, a very heavy underdog, right?
4:33And again, I know it's not a betting show.
4:36It's fantasy. But I always advise folks to use the sport book as a guide.
4:41You know, it'll point you towards where the high expectations for scoring is.
4:46And again, with that 49.5 point team total, which is the second highest outside of Tampa and Cincinnati, letting us know some fireworks to be expected.
4:55Saints on the underdog side have a 22-point implied team total, which is not bad.
5:00I think the main question for the Saints has to start under center with Tyler Schock.
5:06He came on late in the season last year and really gave us a back-end QB1 performance after that bye.
5:13I think the general public has probably been a little too hard on Schock, frankly, as a rookie, hitting the ground running
5:21and trying to board the moving train. All these things are very difficult.
5:26Also trying to understand the fast-moving, telling more offense.
5:29And that is a real thing for fantasy gamers like ourselves.
5:33Saints ran more than 63 plays a game last year.
5:36That's where you want to be. Now, a lot of the macro efficiency stats did suffer.
5:42Again, doing the Rattler thing and trying to get Tyler Schock acclimated.
5:46And then also, maybe more than anything, not having a run game is always going to be really detrimental for young quarterbacks,
5:54New Orleans, as a team, just bottom of the barrel across the board.
5:59Below 95 rushing yards per game. Three and three-quarter yards per rush.
6:03I mean, this is terrible. I think they might have been bottom five in yards before contact per rush.
6:10At .9, success rate below 36. An explosive rush rate right around five.
6:15All those are bottom five, bottom eight metrics. You go and sign Travis Eichen.
6:19I think I got that one right this time.
6:23And he's going to bolster the room. Say what you want about him.
6:27Whether or not he deserves the draft capital. I thought for fantasy drafts where he was going was perfectly fair.
6:34Especially when he was starting to drift down towards the fourth round.
6:39So I think the pieces surrounding Schock are really good.
6:42Olave is a real wide receiver one piece. Eichen is a definite start.
6:47I think Schock, we're going to have our questions.
6:50But I think this is one of the places where you're thinking about starting.
6:55Detroit, the defense is banged up in the secondary.
6:58And they weren't great overall. Plus you get the fast track and a very high likelihood that Detroit is going to score
7:06again, you know, reflected in the high implied team talk.
7:10So kind of always using the books just to be like a guiding light for us.
7:15I think it's always going to help. You don't use it as an end-all, be-all.
7:21But again, that guiding light really matters. So last thing for New Orleans, because I think it's pretty much wheels up for all our guys.
7:30One of my sleepers for this week has got to be Devon Vele.
7:34Who in the few games that we saw him play with Schock, gave you legit wide receiver two output.
7:41Tyson is out. And while Jawan Johnson is pretty good, I think they're going to serve different roles.
7:48And I think, again, they could all get home against a team like Detroit.
7:53You know Kellen Moore is just going to keep his foot on the gas.
7:57That's kind of his modus operandi anyway. So against a team like Detroit, we want to go get it.
8:04I really wanted to make sure to bring up Vele in this one.
8:09Because I think that's a name not a lot of people are going to be looking at.
8:15And I know it's week one. Our teams are mostly healthy.
8:19And maybe you're not starting him. You should already, right?
8:22Look what happened to him. Shriveling down and Donald down.
8:26We want to be ready for injuries. I'm always churning the back end of my roster.
8:32It's usually not too many wide outs. But I think Vele is the kind of guy, if you're going to hold one, maybe you should.
8:41And it's got a chance to be a flex-worthy play this weekend.
8:45Detroit probably just as crystal clear. You know, not every team is going to be.
8:50You want to start golf at home. You want to start golf indoors.
8:55Check both those boxes. Obviously, if you're not starting Jameer Gibbs, you're doing at least one thing wrong.
9:01Maybe two. Maybe ten, actually. Amon Ra, ditto. Jameson Williams, ditto.
9:05Sam Laporta. You know, I think you have to start him.
9:09I always worry about these guys. I don't mean to clump Laporta in with the catch-and-fall type ends.
9:16But anytime we're dealing with back-end TE1s, there's always a chance that that could go wrong.
9:21New Orleans also did a pretty good job defending tight ends last year, allowing just seven PPR points a game, just over five receptions a game.
9:30And that's, you know, not to the tight end one.
9:34That's to the position. So I think you're going to start Laporta because if you draft him, you probably don't have a better replacement.
9:43Unless, of course, and we're going to get to that, you could add Michael Bayer.
9:48I'd probably rather have Michael Bayer than Laporta. I'm not sure if that's sacrilege or not.
9:54But he's a guy that we've seen fill in as a real tight end one in the absence of Brock Bowers, and you're going to get that.
10:03So Saints and Lions feeling pretty clear cut, I'd say, from a fantasy lens, right?
10:09We're starting all of our starters. And I know I kind of pushed past Chuck.
10:14I think you want to start him. If you drafted Chuck, he might have been part of a two-headed monster, right?
10:21Maybe you drafted him with somebody a little later on.
10:25You know, maybe you've had him with like a Cam Ward or a lesser-known option or lesser-used option.
10:31I think I'm going with Chuck and a lot of coin flips.
10:36If not, and you have a much better option, I think that's okay too.
10:41But keep an eye on him in these positive game scripts.
10:45I think there's a chance this one really shoots out.
10:48I like New Orleans more than the crowd, and I think they could go over that point total.
10:55Well, I'm expecting a ton of scoring in this one.
10:58So I think we could pretty much move on again.
11:02Pretty much straightforward for New Orleans and the Saints.
11:05Let's pop into the next one, down to the dirty, dirty.
11:09It's the Atlanta Falcons. Three-point dogs on the road in Steel City to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.
11:15This one has a 41.5 team total. Pittsburgh implying 23.
11:18Atlanta down at 19. That one's actually dropped the point, excuse me, the big news, right?
11:24Breaking news. Tua Tagovailoa is out. Now, not to bash this guy, but he very nearly lost a competition where he was the only person in it.
11:34Sounds like Cooper Rush is going to get the rock.
11:37Now, we haven't really seen much from him. I thought he might have been, I don't know, a backup is not even really going to be replacement level.
11:47But replacement level for a backup with Dallas, the little bit we saw from him in Baltimore last year was kind of atrocious.
11:56Now, is it really fair to judge a backup against a team like Houston that has eaten up especially good offenses that are fully healthy?
12:04I'm not sure. But Rush performed probably the way you might expect.
12:09He threw for all of 179 yards, zero touchdowns, and three picks.
12:13Uh-oh. Again, I don't want to judge him just on that.
12:17But it's not like Pittsburgh is going to do him many favors either.
12:22Now, I guess we're a far cry from the steel curtain of yesteryear.
12:26But Pittsburgh does do the things that makes backups slash inexperienced quarterbacks shaking their cleats.
12:32Pittsburgh was top five in splash plays. They're really good with creating pressure through the blitz, getting sacks, and converting those pressures into sacks.
12:40They were top half of the league across the board, 18% blitz, 37.5% pressure, going for 48 sacks, and a 19% conversion rate.
12:48Now, there are some holes in the game I was getting a little bit excited or as excited as anyone can get with two on the center.
12:58Pittsburgh being aggressive a lot of times, that opens up a window of opportunity right beyond the line of scrimmage where you can get to the slot.
13:08Pittsburgh especially vulnerable against the slot last year. Bottom five in EPA allowed.
13:12They were good for seven catches, 88 yards, and nearly two scores per game in the slot.
13:18Again, if you were bullish on Atlanta, which now, I mean, pretty much objectively and measurably, that's a real thing.
13:25Can Rush get the ball out to the slot in the way that we'd need to?
13:31Again, Tua, that's one of the things, maybe the only thing that he was really good at, was getting the ball out quick to playmakers.
13:40Looking at you, Kyle Pitts, even looking at you, Drake London, who Atlanta's been pretty vocal about moving him into that slot
13:48role, kind of mixing around the usage, trying to get him some of those high probability layup targets.
13:54Really great stuff for PPR drafters. But right now, you have to have a baseline confidence to roll out any Falcons.
14:02Now, into the nuts and bolts of it all, you've got to start Bijan.
14:07I think you have to start London. I even think you probably have to start Pitts, though.
14:13I might take Michael Mayer again. Let's make him the benchmark.
14:17Because there is a viable replacement. There might not always be.
14:21I wouldn't dump Pitts even in a bad spot for a player I have no faith in.
14:27But I would start him for somebody that we've seen with tight end finishes like Michael Mayer.
14:33Prepare to hear that name another hundred times today.
14:36Not sure what I think about the Pittsburgh defense.
14:39But now, all of a sudden, I'm thinking about streaming them this weekend if you need to.
14:45Falcons, until Michael Penix gets back, are going to be a target all year.
14:50However, this spread and team total feel a little bit off to me.
14:55On the Pittsburgh side, I was never that bullish on Pittsburgh to begin with.
15:00And I know we've had some changes as far as the people kind of pulling the switches.
15:06However, whenever your quarterback's age starts with a four, and I have an outside chance of beating in a foot race, which
15:14is not great, there's going to be question marks of fantasy.
15:18Especially because they're actually talented. I think we might like Pittsburgh better if they weren't.
15:23Everywhere you look are viable fantasy pieces. I just don't know if we get a repeat of 58 plays a game for
15:31305 yards a game at one of the NFL's slowest paces, that we're going to have a pie big enough to feed all the mouths.
15:40Especially in a spot where we're expecting Pittsburgh, at least on offense, to not really be pushed.
15:46Let's say you're not buying the Pittsburgh defense. You think Atlanta is at least representative, which, again, I have my doubts.
15:53I don't think we're talking about a shootout here.
15:56I'm benching pretty much all of my Steelers, maybe outside of Jalen Warren, who I think can eat just based off Aaron
16:04Rodgers totally refusing to take a hit and throwing incessantly to the running back position.
16:10We saw Kenny Gainwell get something like 85 targets or whatever.
16:14I think Warren steps into that role. I'm worried about Dowdle.
16:17Now, he's always going to be a pop for RB2 or flex finish because he could fall into the end zone.
16:25But again, I think the ceiling case is very much limited for a guy like Dowdle.
16:31We're going to want play volume. And we're not even sure that Dowdle is the better runner over Warren, who's been explosive
16:38and good between the tackles with success rate, EPA, all the stuff that we're looking for.
16:44So I'm really worried. I would copy and paste the same argument for the wide receivers.
16:50Yeah, of course I like Michael Pittman. And of course we like DK Metcalf.
16:55They're both good receivers. I just don't know what we're going to get in this one.
17:01It's worrisome from a pace thing. You know, please really do dictate fantasy output.
17:06Now, Atlanta's been pretty bad at defending the run in recent years.
17:10So if Pittsburgh is able to move it, what are we going to get?
17:15The tick-tock of the clock. So maybe call me crazy, but I'm benching all my Steelers outside of Warren, rolling with just
17:23my Falcons that I had to draft in the first round.
17:27You can't sit a first-rounder in week one. But man, I am really kind of disinterested in this one.
17:33Let's try and get through the next one before our first break.
17:38I'm kind of hitting that flow state right now.
17:41Not sure how much there is here anyway. Cleveland Browns on the road down in sunny Jacksonville to face the Jaguars.
17:48Another low total here at 40.5. Though it's more based on expectations for the Browns and Jags, I guess depending which way you're looking at it.
17:58Jacksonville carrying 24 of those 40 points. Browns down at 16.5.
18:01I believe that's the lowest individual team total on the sleeve.
18:05With good reason. For years, we've all heard if you have two quarterbacks, you have none.
18:11Well, what happens if you have five quarterbacks? I don't know what the answer is.
18:16Cleveland's struggling to find an answer. They keep trying to make Deshaun Watson a thing.
18:22I think they were hoping he would just walk away.
18:25He wanted to get paid. He's going to force the cut.
18:29They're going to make us watch Cleveland easily, if not the worst offense right next to it.
18:35I mean, this is awful. Just 262 yards a game at 4.3 yards per play.
18:4136% success rate. These are all, again, bottom two dead last or bottom three metrics.
18:46Can't get the rush game going. Not that you're going to get any volume there anyway.
18:52So really quick, let's address that. I've been higher in a vacuum on Dylan Samson than Quinchon Junkins from the jump.
18:59Junkins, to me, comes across as more of a two-down player.
19:03Samson had some of the best advanced receiving metrics in the league as far as yards per out, target per outrun.
19:11I think Cleveland is going to be behind perpetually all season without Miles Garrett and throwing.
19:16So Samson, I think, is a sneaky start as a flex.
19:20I wouldn't be, like, forcing him into a lineup.
19:23But I do think he's viable in a deeper league or if you have question marks.
19:29Other than that, maybe regardless of the quarterback, you could start Casey Concepcion as a back-end wideout.
19:35Because I think a lot of the layup targets that went to Harold Fann and who I am also benching, I think those targets go to Concepcion.
19:45If you're not picking up what I'm putting down, I think those would be the only two Browns could start outside of
19:53Samson, but actually start in a standard league. Fann has shown us real ability as a rookie breakout, but there was very little target competition at the time.
20:03But bringing in Concepcion, as well as Denzel Boston, might put a little bit of a chokehold, especially Concepcion.
20:09His style of play, the camp buzz, his ability to win right around the line of scrimmage might make things kind of tough for all the surrounding pieces.
20:19Because, again, how big is the pie going to be?
20:23Browns were essentially dead last as a team in completion rate.
20:27EPA per dropback, pass yards per game, yards per attempt, air yards per attempt, deep completions.
20:33I mean, it's as bad as it gets, plus all the pressure allowed.
20:37A 48% pressure rate allowed last year. Just horrendous stuff.
20:41Jacksonville, if Cleveland was easy in one way to do, Jacksonville's just as easy in the other direction.
20:47You're starting all of your Jaguars, right? This goes around saying, I think you're starting Brian Thomas and still you know what you got.
20:56If it turns out they're just empty cavalry go routes, then maybe we rethink it.
21:01But for right now, you want to go after it.
21:05I'm not viewing Cleveland as the same kind of defense that we saw last year.
21:10Without Garrett and all the pressure stuff, which was really the foundational piece of that unit.
21:16I want to see what we got. We spent the draft capital on Thomas.
21:21I think you roll him out. Washington, of course, Parker.
21:24Washington, I mean. Salutes, Lee, you're starting. Same for Trevor Lawrence.
21:28Same for Basial Tootin. Maybe Chris Rodriguez because of the team total and our expectations that this could kind of run away.
21:36He also, to me, projects to be the goal linebacker.
21:40And getting a lot of the high value stuff.
21:43So give me Chris Rodriguez as a deeper flex play.
21:46I'd rank him above Samson for the Browns. But also kind of in that same elk of players maybe that you're only
21:54starting, you know, if you're in a pitch. If Rodriguez is out there on your waiver wire, you should absolutely go roster him.
22:02Not just to say he's a contingency ad in case Tootin gets hurt.
22:07But because the pie for the Jaguars could be big enough to feed families.
22:12I would sit Jacoby Myers, Bretton Strange, just as the ancillary tertiary pieces.
22:17I think we want to see how the route rates shake out.
22:21Including kind of Travis Hunter into this. I definitely wouldn't start him.
22:25But meaning we want to see how he's worked into the plan.
22:29So, all right. That's our first three games. Feeling pretty good, everybody, right?
22:34Get some ice cubes. We're going to be back in a moment with the Bears and my J-E-T-S.
22:40Jets, Jets, Jets. This is Aaron Burnett from Ridiculous Crime.
22:44Sports fans do some ridiculous things. And we somehow convince ourselves that all of them are completely reasonable.
22:50I'm not checking my pick every five minutes. Five minutes later, checking the pick.
22:55I'm staying calm today. Sure you are. Then suddenly I'm emotionally invested in a backup tight end I had never heard of because this man needs 12 yards.
23:05I don't know him. I don't know where he went to school.
23:10I'm not entirely sure I know his first name.
23:13But right now, his success is my success. Then the quarterback throws an interception.
23:18So naturally I change seats because clearly my location on the couch had a direct impact on a professional football game happening hundreds of miles away.
23:27Is that rational? No. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely. And that's why it's fun.
23:32Every catch. Every yard. Every strange little twist until the game is over.
23:36That's why I love having something on the line.
23:40It turns all of us into complete lunatics in the best possible way.

27:21All right, everybody. Thank you for listening, and we are back, Fantasy Football Weekly.
27:26Let's get into the next set of games here.
27:29One of the most anticipated teams of the offseason, Chicago Bears, travel to Carolina, and far be it for me to IKB,
27:37or I Know Better, a very sharp betting market.
27:41But I have to admit, I was a little surprised.
27:44Bears are just a two-and-a-half point favorite. On the road in Carolina, bringing along with them a 25-point team total, to Carolina is 22-and-a-half.
27:53And everything feels a little bit off to me, right, just from a kind of gut reaction.
27:59I thought Chicago might come in a little bit higher.
28:02I thought Carolina might come in a little bit lower.
28:06And I guess it shows what I know. Big question to be answered really has got to be the Bears' defense.
28:13And will the real Bears' defense please stand up?
28:17I thought they played a little bit better towards the close of the season last year.
28:22But, man, there's a lot of ugly stuff here on the spreadsheet.
28:27Bears, one of the few teams to allow six yards of play or more.
28:31One of the few teams to allow more than 360 yards a game.
28:36Few teams to allow more than 35 yards on average per drive.
28:40Those are all pretty bad. They struggled against the run.
28:44They struggled against the pass. They struggled to create pressure.
28:48But I still find myself asking, does Carolina have what it takes to push around anybody?
28:53And that's where I'm really not so sure. So I guess we could start on the Carolina side.
29:00And you can tell from all the weird inflection in my voice that I'm not really buying any of this Carolina stuff offensively.
29:08I've never been a big Bryce Young guy. We've seen him get benched.
29:12I don't even think he really played well. And now all of a sudden we're expecting him to kind of hold serve with Ben Johnson and the Bears.
29:22I'm not really seeing it. I mean, again, Young at just six and a half air yards per attempt, 6.3 YPA.
29:30It's all pretty gross. Plus, he doesn't run. And I think for undersized quarterbacks, I think that's a killer.
29:37That if you can't stand up in the pocket and attack the middle of the field, and you're not really a threat to take off.
29:46And I don't just mean to rack up these long runs or long touchdown runs.
29:51Patrick Mahomes, of course, the GOAT, kind of set the standard and the template for how to succeed with this.
29:58And it's running for first downs. Remember, runs are part of EPA per dropout.
30:03So if you scramble for a first down, you're going to boost it.
30:08And that's been part of it. Quick little cap point for people, right?
30:12That's how you split the difference between EPA per dropout and EPA per attempt when a pass attempt was actually made.
30:20Either way, Bryce Young, pretty weak in that department below average.
30:24He's always been that way. He turns the ball over too much.
30:28And man, I'm not buying any of this. So I'm out on Young.
30:33As far as the pass catchers go, I think you have to start Ted Arroa.
30:38Though I had him on my zero share list basically throughout the entire summer.
30:43He might have found his way onto a squad or two in best ball.
30:48Because sometimes, right, this is a price game that we're playing, right?
30:52It's price driven, I mean to say. And when Ted would make it to the back of the fourth at times, I
31:00think if he's the best option, then you go to it.
31:04I do have one of my thick eyebrows raised just based on a little bit of what we saw in the preseason.
31:12Not that I think it's all necessarily sticky or, you know, worth kind of jumping on.
31:18But when you have a player that talented and he's clearly the top option on a team, and then you see that,
31:25you know, said team deploy that player from the slot.
31:29Very similar to what I was mentioning with London at the outset.
31:33If we're going to get Ted Arroa and McMillan moving in and out of the slot where he's going to get a
31:41boost to that inherent floor that you get from a slot guy, that could be really, really great.
31:47However, until we see it, I'm not really buying it, which is why I wasn't drafting him at cost.
31:54But it's also why he's worth kind of rolling out there just in case the Bears defense is still terrible.
32:01So maybe Ted Arroa is good. My worry, of course, with Ted in the slot is Jalen Coker kind of eating up
32:09a lot of those routes where he's been good.
32:12I wouldn't start him. If you think Carolina is going to get blown out and the negative game script needs a ton
32:20of attempts, then I could see why he's viable in the flex.
32:25So I always like to be understanding to the range of outcomes and understanding I have my own biases, my own projections.
32:32So, of course, I'm going to lean into my own work.
32:36I think we all should do that. But I do understand why and how those players could make their way into a lineup.
32:44As far as the running backs go, I want to see it first.
32:49Call me Missouri. You know, Chuba Hubbard, as boring as he is, can't get a 20-yard run for anything.
32:56He's still probably going to be the lead. Jonathan Brooks, until we see him handle some kind of volume, at least make
33:04a big play, finish an NFL game perhaps, I'm not going to roll him out.
33:09I think if you drafted him, I understand it.
33:12I think if you were buying up that steam into the seventh round, you're probably crazy.
33:18So I'm pumping the brakes on everything Panthers until I see it.
33:22Flip side for Chicago, this one should be easy.
33:25You're starting all of your bears. Give me Caleb Williams.
33:29I'm off for him with Doomsday because of the injury stuff he popped up again.
33:34I am not inviting injuries on my roster, especially week one.
33:38We saw a bunch of players already go down.
33:42Or players that we had injury optimism for, like George Kittle, have a reduced role.
33:47Not interesting. Roald Doomsday is not Malik neighbors. We could live without him where we drafted him.
33:53Outside of that, you're starting Loveland no matter what.
33:56Universally, starting Luther Burden also. I think they both could be huge PPR scam guys this entire season.
34:03We mentioned the Panthers' defense. They're not very good.
34:06They were highly inefficient. They struggled against the run.
34:09You want to roll with DeAndre Swift, who just got the bad three-year extension.
34:14They don't create pressure, and that's the best way to get to Caleb.
34:19So Caleb, with time, he should deal. I think the bears blow the doors off the Panthers, and you can see why I'm off those Panthers.
34:28Let's get one more game in before we take our next break.
34:32It's J-E-T-S. Jets, Jets, Jets, Jets. Again, I'm kind of making funny faces, and I know we're not supposed to be bucking the NFL market.
34:41I get it. Well, I've always been a little bit of a rebel.
34:46I'm a rebel, Dottie. And I don't know how else to be other than I got to be me, right?
34:53I got to be me. And when I see inefficiencies, I'm going to call them out.
34:58And if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I'll try and self-audit, figure out where I was wrong, and get better next time.
35:06But the Jets are underdogs to the Titans. Do we really hate the Jets that much as a collective?
35:13Jets have, again, one of the lowest team totals on the slate.
35:17It's at 18 and a half. You know, I'm going to be betting that over.
35:22Titans are at 21, and I'm not buying. I know the Jets' defense was not great, and maybe they won't be.
35:30But I don't think the Titans should be favored over anyone.
35:34And again, not to continually drag betting stuff into the conversation.
35:38There's a reason we talk about it because it matters.
35:41Anybody that's done any high-level professional betting or handicapping, touting, or modeling, you know, at any kind of a high commercial business-grade
35:49level will tell you differentials are it. They're more important than any single stat, particularly yards per play differential, EPA per play,
35:57pass yards per pass attempt, explosive play differential. The Titans were literally worse in every single one of those metrics by a country model.
36:05I am really struggling to digest why we like the Titans.
36:09The defense was terrible. Cam Ward's been terrible. And they have, like, a consensus bottom three offensive line.
36:16I am sitting literally all of my Titans, maybe outside of Tony Pollard, and in really deep leagues, 14 or 16-team leagues, maybe Tajay Spears.
36:25This is the same Dylan Sampson principle that, you know, you're looking for dump-offs and garbage time, but don't expect any touchdowns.
36:33I'm sitting Cardinal Tate. I think that was a busted pick.
36:36I don't think the line will be able to protect Ward long enough to have those routes mature.
36:43I am just out on all of it. Wanda Robinson, I guess there's a case for him as a flex play, but
36:51I'm sitting all my Titans if I can over to the Jets.
36:55It's a bit of a mixed bag. You're starting Brees Hall no matter what.
37:00I think he's going to be a tremendous profit at cost.
37:04Geno Smith, I don't think you're really interested in.
37:07I wouldn't mind having him as a QB, too, in a deeper league.
37:12You could start him in super flex, but not somebody we're really pushing to the fore.
37:17But don't be surprised if he's like a sleeper playing DFS.
37:21Remember, those games are all about matchups, paying low for high ceiling, and I think you can get that.
37:28Garrett Wilson is a smash pick. I also think A.D.
37:32Mitchell is a smash pick. He's my sleeper for this week.
37:36So you're rolling with the core Jets. I'm not rolling with either of the rookies.
37:41I want to see Sadiq. I want to see Omar Cooper do anything first.
37:46We also don't know if Sadiq is going to play over Mason Taylor.
37:51So the Jets keep an extreme line, consolidated. Give me the stars on the Jets.
37:56I think they both do work. Next up, people, is maybe the most exciting game on the slate.
38:02We're going to be talking Bucs. We're going to be talking Bengals.
38:07And what we're hoping is like the fantasy shootout game of the weekend.
38:11We'll be right back. This is Zarin Burnett from Ridiculous Crime.
38:15You know what's ridiculous? How quickly you can go from being a completely normal sports fan to becoming a full-time investigator the

38:27Then my picks lock and suddenly I need information.
38:30What's the weather? How strong is the wind? Who's injured?
38:34Why is this guy not getting the ball? Now I'm three feet from the television yelling, Throw him the ball!
38:41Like the quarterback has been waiting all afternoon for Zarin Burnett's expert analysis.
38:45He has not. But that's the fun of it.
38:49Once you make your picks, every ridiculous little detail suddenly matters.
38:53Every catch. Every yard. Every play. And you get to see whether you were right or whether your entire theory falls apart spectacularly.

42:03It's the game that we're here for, right? It's why we play fantasy football in the first place.
42:10Yar! The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road in Cincinnati to face Joey B and the Striped Cats.
42:1650 and a half points on the board. Let's go.
42:20This is what we're talking about. When the underdog is implying 24 points, we are talking shootout.
42:26And hopefully some fantasy gold in this one. Starting with the Buccaneers.
42:30You know, I'm actually excited for Baker Meafield. Not only is he a gamer and one of the most fun players to watch, in my opinion.
42:39I think he was playing with a million injuries last year.
42:43And I'm expecting just a slight leveling up across the board.
42:47Similar to what we saw the year prior. So I'm just kind of starting off with a bull case for Tampa.
42:55I think they're going to be really good. And as I was doing my write-ups for Mr.
43:01Matthew Berry over at Fantasy Life this weekend, I did have to pump the brakes a little bit on those same kind of bullish expectations.
43:10When I was digging through the Bengals offseason moves, they added an absolute ton of talent on the defensive side.
43:17And I wonder if maybe they're going to kind of turn it around a little bit.
43:22Now, it's difficult to kind of transpose year-over-year defensive stuff.
43:26But yeah, they signed Boye Mafe, extended Dexter Lawrence, a couple of big draft picks early on, Cassius Howell.
43:33So going to be interesting to see how Cincinnati progresses on defense.
43:37Again, one pick up in defense, and this team is potentially a Super Bowl contender.
43:42Remember, we haven't seen Joey Burrow healthy. But back to Tampa.
43:46So I think you could start Mayfield. Again, we're at the point where we want teams to show us first.
43:53I'm not going to assume that Cincinnati fixed the defense.
43:57They have to show us that. Because Tampa already has shown us explosivity.
44:02Now, I know this is going to upset some people.
44:05But I've been off Bucky Irving. Now, you're going to have to keep an eye on the news.
44:12Because Sean Tucker was banged up. And whether or not he's active, which is funny because technically he's like the RB3.
44:19But if he's active, there's your goal line carries.
44:22And if he's inactive, it looks like right now, depending where you look, I see a Q tag.
44:29I see a D tag for doubtful. If Tucker is doubtful, then I'll walk that back and say you're rolling with Irving.
44:36If not, what's the worry? It's obvious. We have no problem sharing a backfield with one other player.
44:43We don't want to share the backfield with two other players.
44:47Especially when one of the other players, Kenneth Gainwell, is a tremendous upgrade from more of a dusty Rashad White.
44:54It's like a full... That's a real upgrade. Because he's a real pass catcher with better running abilities than White, who's probably
45:02had his best years behind to be ready. So there's obviously threats, right?
45:06There's barbarians at every gate for Irving looking to take that job.
45:11But again, if in fact Tucker is out, then I think you could roll with him.
45:16On the pass catching side, it's going to be really tough.
45:20Tough, though news from Tampa Camp today made it a little bit easier to digest.
45:26Jalen McMillan is doubtful. It doesn't look like he's going to play.
45:30Maybe there was a setback. They said he looked like he was tracking to play.
45:35Now it looks like that's not the case. So that makes it easier.
45:40You're rolling with Egbuka. You're going to roll with Godwin.
45:43Again, I was worried. McMillan is a good player.
45:47He's like a two-yard per out guy. And that was under tough circumstances, returning from injury with target competition.
45:53Now Ted Hurst, the rookie, I think we should sit along with Otten.
45:58Gainwell is like a flex plus. And he was one of the more highly drafted RB2s.
46:04So if you have to start him in PPR as a flex, I think that's fine.
46:09Because in this environment, he probably projects to catch at least a few passes.
46:14And he should have a real floor. But I don't know if you're going to get baseline work.
46:21I don't think you're going to get any of the green zone or red zone work.
46:27So just keep expectations tempered for Gainwell. Though, of course, if Irving's shoulder, it's not to be an issue again.
46:34Gainwell is like a wheels up, possibly top eight, top ten weekly running back.
46:39So Tampa pretty cut and dry for me. Over to Cincinnati, same thing.
46:43I don't know if any team is easier than Cincinnati.
46:47You're starting Burrow, obviously. You're starting Chase, obviously. Same for Higgins and Chase Brown and everyone else just not interested.
46:54Yoshi Voss, people have been trying to make a thing for years and it really hasn't happened.
47:00So I wouldn't bother. I'm not even sure if there's any contingency upside.
47:05Because when given a shot at the WR2 spot, he hasn't really done anything with it.
47:10And then for a guy like Kosicki, who has popped up in the red zone at points for some touchdowns.
47:18Now we're hearing whispers about Eric Hall. And in fact, if I were really speculating because I got boxed out in tight
47:25ends, that'd be a player that I would add and not start what I'd like to have.
47:31Because if they decide, the problem with Kosicki was never the receiving chops.
47:36It's that he gives away what you're trying to do.
47:40He doesn't block well. If they think all can block and also do the catch and release stuff of a standard tight
47:47end, he could be a guy that works his way into the streaming conversation, even a flex conversation.
47:54Because again, the pie. The pie is big enough for everybody to eat for Cincy.
47:59So this one for all the fireworks is especially interesting because we're talking about offenses that are consolidated.
48:06All right, next one. It's strength on strength, man.
48:09What it's all about. AFC potential title preview at some point.
48:13Josh Allen and the Bills. Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.
48:17They're on the road in the Lone Star State.
48:21It's the Houston Texans and tons of question marks there.
48:24On the Buffalo side, again, should be pretty easy.
48:27And what do we love? We love prolific offenses, check.
48:31And we like when they're consolidated, check. Is anybody more consolidated than Buffalo?
48:36Man, it's just incredible stuff for them. Obviously, you're starting Allen in a fire.
48:41James Cook as well. Now, I don't want to say I was necessarily just buying the narratives.
48:47But I've always thought that Cook had a lot of potential to catch more passes.
48:52I also think acquisition of DJ Moore, we'll talk about in a second, I think helps Cook.
48:58I don't think Buffalo had a viable threat downfield.
49:01Teams were challenging Allen to go over the top.
49:04Because you're throwing to Cook, you're throwing to Coleman.
49:08Guys that just were never proven. But DJ Moore is proven.
49:12I know we're coming off a bad season. But I think styles make fights.
49:17And DJ Moore, stylistically, is a freestyler. Waiting for defenses to break down.
49:21Moving towards the ball. In the line of sight of the QB.
49:25And looking for chunk plays. We actually got a whiff of that in the preseason.
49:31Not, again, that I want to marry myself to single preseason plays.
49:35But that is a microcosm of exactly what we're talking about.
49:39Where Ben Johnson and the Bears very much predicated on being a route technician.
49:44A route technician, excuse me. And being at the spot.
49:48On the right time. Everything so meticulously planned. That's not his game.
49:52And that's not Josh Allen's game, we know. You can have three defenders hanging on to Allen.
49:58You can be dragging him down to the floor.
50:01He can get it 45 yards in the air.
50:04Off the back foot. He's a superstar. So I do like the stylistic matchup here.
50:10And again, how that might resonate downstream. Keep an eye on Shakir.
50:14I've been hearing he's hurt. I don't know if he's even going to suit up.
50:19And if he does, could be limited. I think that's really good news for Dalton Kincaid.
50:25Who I think was underpriced just all offseason. So again, Bills, pretty streamlined.
50:30You got to roll him even against this defense.
50:33I think when you drafted these guys, Allen in the third or the fourth.
50:38Hook in the first. Moore in the fourth and the fifth.
50:42You just don't have the luxury of sitting him.
50:45Week one, you got to roll it out and see.
50:48Even though every expectation, statistic, and like measurable metric points to the Texans being excellent on defense.
50:55I think you just have to let it roll.
50:58Though to the last note on Moore, I think even with good defenses, those kind of freestyle players are guys that can get to a good defense.
51:07Right? You are close to getting Allen, but he wiggles away.
51:11And now you have a shot at a broken play.
51:15Over to the Houston side. They tried their best to fix the offensive line.
51:20It should be a lot better than it was last year.
51:24I want to see it first before I start anointing C.J.
51:28Stroud, my comeback player of the year. Because the pass game for the Texans was terrible.
51:33Just awful. And he was inaccurate. But if we're going to lay blame at the foot of the O-line, then we have
51:41to understand, again, how that pebble in the pond creates the ripple effect.
51:46And would hurt everybody, in particular, the quarterback. And I wish I knew what we were going to get from Stroud.
51:53People all offseason always talk about, you know, tell me the stat lines that you'd like to see before doing your biggest fantasy draft.
52:02And Stroud, believe it or not, is one of them.
52:05Because if Stroud goes off, it means Nico Collins actually does have a chance to be like the overall wide receiver one.
52:13Legit overall wide receiver one. Definitely top five overall.
52:16He is a freak athlete that is an absolute stud.
52:20And I think between the injuries and the stunted play, we just haven't seen the sustained efficiency yet.
52:26But Collins was fantastic, man. Last year in like a bad season.
52:31Over 25% target per route. Over two and a third yards per route run.
52:36Almost 16 yards per reception. Will be interesting to see if they move him in and around the formation.
52:42Houston suffered the loss of Jaden Higgins. Hate to see anybody go down.
52:47But from a selfish fantasy lens, could that be a help to Nico Collins?
52:52Because, again, the subsequent move was Kayshawn Booty. A field stretcher.
52:56If Booty assumes a pure X archetype role, that could open up a lot of really juicy routes for Collins.
53:03There are very few players higher on going into the season than Nico Collins.
53:08Houston is a one and a half point dog in this one, by the way.
53:1444 and a half point total. And what does that tell you when you see that, people?
53:20Right? I mentioned using the book for hints. They're not really sure.
53:24So for as much as people like to say, oh, Vegas knows.
53:28The books know. They don't really know. They just have really good calculations of getting the main outcomes.
53:35So this one's anyone's game and anyone's guess. Be weary of ceiling expectations for Buffalo or anybody against Houston.
53:41Roll out your Texans. I think Montgomery is a smash.
53:45Collins is a smash. But it probably ends there.
53:48I guess if you're stretched in a deeper league, then Dalton Schultz could soak up targets.
53:54He's always kind of earned just enough work. But he is one of those catch and fall tight ends.
54:01Unlike a guy like Dalton Kincaid, who I think could break out to be a top five tight end at the end of the year.
54:09I mean, Schultz could get there, but it would have to be the most vanilla ice cream route.
54:16So I think we're in pretty good shape with this one.
54:20Right? You're starting your studs. I'd pump the brakes on Woody Marks.
54:24And I don't know what we're going to get from Michael Noel.
54:28Or is it going to be Xavier Hutchinson or anybody like that?
54:33So be wary of the guys that have question marks surrounding them.
54:37And after that, roll them out with confidence. And man, that was a really exciting pair of games right there.
54:44We'll be back. Ravens, Colts, Dolphins, and Raiders. A game that I'd like a lot more than your average fan.
54:51Sports fans do some ridiculous things. I'm not checking my pick every five minutes.
54:56Sure. Now I'm emotionally invested in a backup tight end I'd never heard of because he needs 12 yards.
55:03Do I know his name? Barely. Do I desperately need those 12 yards?
55:08Absolutely. Ridiculous? Yes. Fun? Also, yes. That's why I love having something on the line.

59:12All right. Those drum beats can only mean one thing.
59:16The marching band is leaving the field. Second half about to commence here on Fantasy Football Weekly with your host John Laghezza sitting here solo.
59:25Our good friend Jake Trowbridge will be back in the co-pilot seat next week.
59:30Can't wait. All right, let's try and get a three-pack in here.
59:34Pretty excited about this one, but again, very streamlined.
59:37And I think that's how we want to be attacking fantasy in general, starting with game environment, into expectations, per team, consolidation
59:45of the offense, ceiling cases, fades, and go from there.
59:49I always try and template my work. Maybe this is from handicapping baseball where there's 15 games every day.
59:55And if you're not organized, you're going to get taken in by the current.
60:00So let's get right into it. Baltimore Ravens on the road against the Colts.
60:05Ravens, one of the few road favorites, three-and-a-half-point favorites in a 48-and-a-half-point total.
60:10They have a 25-and-a-half implied total. Colts down at 22.
60:14Now, I was talking to our lovely producer off air before.
60:18One of my shocks to start with the Colts is Daniel Jones.
60:22We may even extend that to Alec Pierce. I've been talking with Jake all off-season and you about how I'm an injury pessimist.
60:30And I'm not going to pay premiums for hope on injury recoveries, though.
60:35The injury timeline has certainly flattened. I guess, tip to medical technology taking steps forward.
60:40Daniel Jones not just practicing, but practicing in full without restrictions or a brace.
60:45The reason I mention it, even if we're not crazy about starting Jones this weekend, and I think that would be a
60:53fair assessment, though Baltimore's defense can be a little bit shaky.
60:57Kyle Hamilton, really the lodestar there, one of my favorite defensive players, one of the few people able to play at all
61:05three levels of the defense, which is extremely impressive.
61:08Though, when Jones was under center, this Colts team was, like, historically good on offense.
61:13Now, while I don't necessarily expect that, the Shane Steichen stuff with all the play action, with a legitimate threat in John
61:21Taylor, and even if we're not expecting Jones to make these long runs, again, he was doing what I was speaking about
61:29earlier, understanding the assignment, went to tuck and run for the first down, Daniel Jones.
61:34That's when he's most effective with his legs. So I think we have two defenses that are a little bit challenged, that
61:42are both pretty good at stopping the run, that are both pretty leaky in the secondary.
61:48We could get, again, a ton of points here if the 48 and a half points on the OU board is any indication.
61:56So I think it's wheels up for Jones and the Colts.
62:00Again, even if we're not starting him, I think he's got the tools to facilitate exactly what we're looking for.
62:07John Taylor. Now, I mentioned Alec Pierce, and I'm going to sit him at least one week.
62:13I think if you were drafting Pierce, buying the dip in the 120 EDP, you're going to come out looking very smart.
62:21That said, I'm expecting the George Kittle treatment, which is full speed incorporation in the offense, but just not the volume to get there.
62:29So keep an eye on the route share and the route tree, I guess, for Pierce.
62:35But in the meantime, of course we're rolling with Taylor.
62:39Of course we're rolling with Tyler Warren. And one of my big breakout cases is actually Josh Downs.
62:45Now, I'm going to start Josh Downs and hope that he's going to be playing in two wide receiver sets.
62:52Colts just brought in Keenan Allen, and I know he prototypes for that two wide receiver stuff, but he didn't play any two wide receiver sets last year.
63:02The problem? Neither did Downs. So I'm going to have a close eye there, but because I don't think we're going to
63:10get a full route share from Pierce, I think that does open the door for Downs.
63:16Keep an eye on Warren if he gets any of those opportunities in the green zone.
63:21So we like what we're seeing from Indianapolis. I'm a little worried about Keenan maybe eating into some of the other cold
63:29wide receivers, but we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there.
63:34One of the things I'll be looking for. Baltimore side, again, very streamlined.
63:39I'm going to keep it really tight. You're starting LJ.
63:42You're starting King Henry. Though this could be one of the initial worries with Henry that if they fall behind at all, will he get scripted out?
63:52With Declan Doyle now with the switches, will Derrick Henry get five catches?
63:56Who knows? We don't know what's going to happen anytime you shake up the etch-a-sketch and kind of reset the drawing.
64:04Outside of that, and I started the offseason very high on Mark Andrews, thinking without likely and real competition for pass catching,
64:12that he could kind of reassume one of those tight end one seasons.
64:16I've been getting worried. The camp buzz doesn't sound good.
64:20Other analysts have me a little bit worried. So I'm not really sure.
64:24If you draft him as your tight end one, I guess you start him.
64:29I'd have him on that list of players that I'd rather have Michael Bayer than.
64:35Though Indianapolis did not defend the tight end position well last year.
64:39Over nine PPR points per game, six receptions to the tight end position on the nose.
64:45So I guess you could roll with Andrews. You're absolutely starting Zay Flowers, who I think could finish as a high-end wide receiver one.
64:53A lot of people are giving credence, putting a lot of hope on somebody like Jacoby Lane.
64:59I want to see it first. And I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
65:05I don't, yes, fortune favors the bowl. But I don't think where you drafted Lane, you need to force him into a week one lineup.
65:14So this one we want to definitely attach pieces to.
65:17And if that ends up being the thing that gets you over the decision tree for Mark Andrews, I think that's fine.
65:25Maybe even same for Keenan Allen. There's absolutely a world, if the Colts give up 20-something points, that Allen is going to get eight targets.
65:34And maybe he catches six. It might be six for 55, but maybe he gets you in the end zone.
65:41So he's the kind of guy that's going to have a good PPR floor.
65:46So this is not a game I'm avoiding, but there are pieces that I'm worried aren't going to get the usage.
65:54Next up, it's Miami and Las Vegas. I teased this one earlier.
65:58I'm really into this game. And, man, how could this go wrong?
66:02Me being extremely high on these Dolphins this season.
66:05And I know a lot of people are saying, huh?
66:09I'm just not seeing it the way everyone else is.
66:12For starters, Malik Willis somehow avoided all the love that every other running quarterback has gotten for so many years, pushing Justin
66:20Fields and Anthony Richardson up into the top 50 overall.
66:24Now Malik Willis, who appears at least to be a better passer than either of those guys, was regularly available after pick 130.
66:32He's one of my most rostered quarterbacks across several hundred leagues.
66:36And I think he could break fantasy. His battery mate this year, Devin Achan, caught a lot of heat.
66:43The Dolphins have a low implied team total when Vegas is not expecting it to score.
66:48Running quarterbacks don't throw to the running back often.
66:52Now I'm like making a funny face and doing air quotes because I don't necessarily believe all of that.
66:58Who is to say that Achan isn't going to still get his four to five targets every game?
67:05Why wouldn't he? Who else is getting the ball?
67:08So I just feel like we box ourselves into these range of outcomes that we just don't know the answer to.
67:16If the Dolphins want to win, maybe Devin is going to get the ball.
67:21Also, when you draft him, you have to start him, obviously.
67:24So those are the obvious calls. Willis is the guy I'm starting over any quarterback question that I have all year.
67:32If you have a question, you're starting Willick Willis.
67:35If he's available, you pick him up right now and keep him for exactly that scenario.
67:41And if something happens to your QB, injury, poor performance, either or both, he's the guy that we're going to want.
67:48I think he could be really good. Also speaking to my producer about the wide receiver room, another part of the ire that Miami's been receiving.
67:58Again, with good reason on its face. But I think we kind of jumped the shark with this stuff.
68:04You're out of Malik Washington. He got outplayed and it looks like he got replaced in the offseason by at least one rookie.
68:13Sounds like Caleb Douglas is going to start. Sounds like Chris Bell is going to start.
68:18The OC at a presser just a day ago.
68:21So they're both in line for starter roles without restrictions.
68:25If that really means Chris Bell also, he is a must add.
68:29Do not wait to add Chris Bell. Add him now.
68:33If he's the player we thought he could be pre-injury, then all of a sudden this isn't the worst offensive roster.
68:40They may have a deep threat, which would open up looks for A-chan in the flat.
68:46Or Greg Dulcich on crossers. Or little out routes.
68:49I just seen this differently than the public. I really think there's a window for a breakout from the Dolphins.
68:56Maybe I'm just telling myself and you know this story because I drafted so much with them.
69:02Now, I would pump the brakes on Bell for this week.
69:06I would want to see it first and I think that's fine.
69:11Same for Douglas, though I'm significantly less enthused for him.
69:14I would start Dulcich. I would start Dulcich over Andrews.
69:18I'm starting Dulcich over all of the catch and fall tight ends.
69:22Maybe outside of Schultz because I do think that volume will be there and they're going to get pushed.
69:29But I'm excited about the Dolphins and I'm way over this 18-point team total.
69:34I think they get there easily. I also think they cover the three-and-a-half-point spread.
69:39They could win this one outright. I don't think the Vegas defense is any good at all.
69:45They weren't last year. It didn't do much to correct it with or without Crosby.
69:50Speaking of the Raiders, again, I think it's really tough now.
69:54You drafted Bowers. He's out. That's a smash play for Myers who we can stop talking about at this point.
70:01After that, it's nothing but question marks. Former first-rounder, subsequent second-rounder, Ashton Gentty, went down.
70:07Thank goodness for prayer circles. He's going to play.
70:10How much is he going to play? That is yet to be seen.
70:14I think you have to start him. I don't know how you could have a better option.
70:20If that makes sense. But don't be upset if he doesn't get 25 touches.
70:25I'm not expecting it. Especially after the way that Mike Washington looked.
70:30I wouldn't start Washington whatsoever. I know people are now having delusions of grandeur because of the way Caelan Black ate into McCaffrey's workload for San Francisco.
70:39Now, I think we could see that in game one.
70:43But I think that will phase itself out. And I think Gentty goes back to the vast majority of backfield touches for the Raiders.
70:51So you're starting Gentty now, looking forward to him later.
70:55He's probably a good buy low right now. The wide receiver room is going to be funky.
71:01I've been really big on Trey Tucker all year.
71:04I think he's the clear-cut wide receiver one. And he was available deep in the drafts.
71:10I picked 140 or later. If he's on a waiver wire, you're adding him now.
71:15Don't wait. Why? Because the Kubiak system has always been predicated on a good running back, which they have.
71:22Lots of play action to open up the deep threat.
71:26Tucker looks like he's going to be that guy.
71:29Without Brock Bowers. Tucker is the number one pass-catching option.
71:32Beyond that, I obviously have, like, no clue. Whispers of Jack Besch.
71:37Whispers of Malik Benson. Maybe you're adding those guys in really deep leagues.
71:41And hoping for something to pop up. Out of the surface.
71:45But I don't really know. I wouldn't push any of those guys.
71:50But if consolidation is the word of the day.
71:53Then, yeah, we still want our Raiders. The Miami defense was terrible.
71:57The secondary is terrible. I think Trey Tucker is a smash play.
72:01I think you could actually play him this weekend.
72:05So I'm off the quarterback situation. How long are we going to get Cousins?
72:10Who knows? I'm interested to see how that drive leg looks.
72:13Cousins was never a runner. But once he had the, I think it was Achilles, right?
72:19Or the tightrope surgery. A lot of times older players have a hard time recovering from that.
72:25So it made sense that he wasn't ready. I was shocked at the Falcon contract, by the way.
72:32So, again, this game, despite low expectations, I think the focus being on the players that we want could work for us against soft defenses.
72:41I'm more excited about that one than a lot of other people.
72:45All right, let's try and smush one more in here before we move on.
72:50NFC matchup. Washington Commanders on the road in Philly to face the Eagles.
72:54NFC East showdown. Commanders five and a half point underdogs, implying fewer than 20 points.
73:00And, again, I'm kind of making that funny face.
73:03Well, this isn't on video. My face, I guess, always looks funny.
73:07I'm making a funnier face. Because Jaden Daniels is back.
73:11And I think sometimes it may be just too nature to focus too much on the last thing we've seen.
73:18But there's also throwaway seasons in the NFL. Daniels was hurt.
73:22I think they rushed it back, got hurt again.
73:25And I think the entire season was a wash.
73:28I'm looking at Washington more like the team from the year prior that was excellent and made it all the way to the conference championship.
73:37I see Jaden Daniels as top five QB easily.
73:40And the kind of guy who could and should have been going much closer to Lamar, not to mention the weaponry is a lot better.
73:49Similar to Josh Allen, Jaden Daniels will break down plays.
73:53I think Steph Diggs would be a monster in line for a monster season for Washington.
73:59Remember, he had a fantastic season for New England.
74:02Really surprised he didn't bring him back. That already looks like a mistake.
74:06Looks like a mistake. You acclimated him to the offense.
74:10He was super productive. Even in a part-time role, they decided to move away from him.
74:16And now they're not looking so good over in Foxborough.
74:19So give me Washington to go over that team total.
74:23And I think we want the studs. We're starting Daniels, of course.
74:27You're starting McLaurin, of course, though. I think you have to pump the brakes on expectations.
74:33You know, Philly's defense is pretty legitimate. The pass defense was really tough.
74:37They only allowed 46 20-yard completions below 190 pass yards per game, right around 18 completions in general.
74:44So I think you're rolling McLaurin out for the draft capital, even though, again, you're probably, you know, not expecting a ceiling outcome here.
74:52Diggs could get you there just on volume alone, especially if the spread is correct.
74:58And Washington is playing from behind. Jaden Daniels, again, breaking down the defense.
75:02Diggs wiggling to get free. Now, Diggs, I think there's a bit too much redundancy or overlap to start Chigakonkwo.
75:09Now, he could be fun, but I'm not going there.
75:13We've never really seen it from him. And before Diggs, I liked it.
75:18Post-Diggs, I'm out in the backfield. I was into Rashad White.
75:22I thought he was in line to maybe be a clear RB1.
75:26But then he got banged up in the camp buzz around Bill Krosky-Merritt was that he really leveled up his game as far as pass protection goes.
75:35So if that's the case and we're getting more of a true split or Krosky-Merritt is the guy, then you're going to be sorry that you started White.
75:45I'm benching them both this week. I don't want to find out the hard way.
75:51Again, week one, I want floor. And if we're talking floor, I think White is the floor player in a game where
75:59Washington's the underdog because he's the pass catching guy.
76:02But if he's banged up and might even be limited, you're going to be really sorry that you did that.
76:09So this game also, feeling pretty clean. I want to stay in my lane, start our studs, not be too daring.
76:16Right. For the Eagles, of course, you're starting Hurts.
76:20Obviously, of course, you're starting Devonta Smith. Now, I might go the other route.
76:25And I think where people are higher on Makai Lemon than I am, I think I'm sitting Lemon to see how he
76:32works into this offense where a lot of the buzz has really been on.
76:37I think that's a good one. Free agent on Tavian Wicks, who I like as a sleeper this weekend.
76:44I like him as an add early in the season, maybe like a chaperone pick until Lemon gets fully acclimated and assumes like a full-time role.
76:54But in the meantime, you want to attack this commander's pass defense.
76:58They were bottom three in EPA per drop back, bottom five in opposing passer rating at 104.
77:04They allowed more than eight yards per attempt and 33 passing touchdowns.
77:08They don't tackle well. They didn't pressure the quarterback.
77:11Hurts without pressure can be really effective. Bill Dolphy's in a pretty good spot to get it done.
77:18And, of course, without your role with Saquon Barkley, despite me feeding him in fantasy, I'm worried about the long-term prospect.
77:25I'm also worried that we see what we saw from San Francisco.
77:29That in order to save him and preserve him, maybe they go more to the backup.
77:35And Tank Bigsby gets more of that between-the-tackers role.
77:38And while, yeah, a lot of it is not high value, excuse me, just the volume in itself could hurt a guy
77:46like Saquon, who was already seeding goal line touches to Hurts and the Tushbush.
77:51So, of course, you're starting Barkley. And I think the same goes for Goddard.
77:56But even though I do consider him a little bit of a catch-and-fall guy, I think for the environment, we're in a pretty good spot.
78:05So that's that three-pack of games, everybody. Thanks for listening to the show.
78:10We have a couple more to go here on Fantasy Football Weekly.

82:33All right, everybody. Welcome back. Fantasy Football Weekly. John McGeeza in the pilot chair today.
82:38Doing pretty good. We got one, two, three, four counted games left.
82:43As you prepare for week one, hopefully coming home with a couple of dubs in your opening matchup, we know winning early matters.
82:51And I know it sounds silly, but I think sometimes we're so locked into, and of course we should be thinking about
82:59winning the championship, but you got to get, you got to get to those playoffs.
83:04And I know as a younger player, there were times I'd have too many rookies or too many injured guys or too
83:12many stashes and not focused on the points today.
83:15So let's score some of those points today. It's Green Bay and the Cheeseheads.
83:20They're on the road up in Minnesota, eh, to face the Vikings, Vikings at home, minus one and a half point favorite.
83:28A little bit surprised there, though, you know, when you're at home, that's kind of like a wash.
83:34Forty five and a half point total there. A little bit higher than I expected.
83:40Maybe because I have questions about the offenses or maybe because I bet against the Vikings a few times last year.
83:47And once you get a couple of really good looks at that defense, they can be really frustrating.
83:54They're one of the better scoring defenses in the league last year, 19 and a half points a game, 282 yards a game, 4.7 yards per play.
84:03And one of the best EPA per play in the league.
84:07They're very good up front. They're very strong against the run.
84:11They're very strong against the pass and really good at not just creating pressure and converting pressure, but also disallowing those slot
84:19receptions over the middle that I was mentioning before.
84:22A lot of times that is the skeleton key when you're being pressured is to get it out early over the middle of the field.
84:31But again, the Vikings, 45 pressure rate, 25 blitz rate, double digit sack rate, 21% conversion rate, and there were limited slot
84:39catches to just five catches a game from the slot.
84:42Remember, that's not like a slot receiver. That's all slot receivers including tight ends for an entire game.
84:49Vikings, really, really tough. So, I guess the book a little bit soft on him.
84:54I don't know if I'm seeing it and I like the Packers offense.
84:59Let's get into the market. I like the Packers offense, especially for fantasy.
85:03Word of the day, consolidation. Green Bay did all fantasy gamers a massive solid and they vacated just a metric ton of targets.
85:12Right? Romeo, Dubbs, off to New England, Don TV and Wicks, off to Philadelphia and they didn't really do much in terms of replacement.
85:20So, they were very vocal about that being one of the things they felt hurt the offense actually in Green Bay.
85:28You know, sharing maybe a little bit too much, not letting guys get into the groove.
85:33Well, they're going to have a chance to get their groove back and we like all of the Packers in this one just based on potential volume.
85:43I think efficiency is going to be hard to come by but that's always going to be the case.
85:50You're never going to have a full roster worth of players in perfect matchups.
85:55That's just not a thing. Green Bay offense is really good.
85:59I like Jordan Love under center. He was one of my favorite, I'm kind of doing air quotes, statue quarterbacks at a value.
86:07We mentioned Willis before. I have a ton of Willis and Love, Willis and Dart.
86:12Dart and Love, guys that were going in the triple digit ADP that I think could finish as top six, top eight
86:20quarterbacks or even better on any given week. So Packers again, very consolidated.
86:25We want the pass catchers. I think Christian Watson in line for a breakout season.
86:30I don't know if it's going to happen today, though similar to O's Kayshawn Booty with the Texans.
86:36I think usage for Matthew Golden, who everyone is super high on, I was drafting anywhere after pick 100 this year.
86:44If he's going to eat up a lot of the cardio routes, the go routes, and allow Watson to move around the
86:52formation, play more of a Z than an X, work intermediate option routes with post stuff, especially over the middle, he looks
87:00like the best player on the field sometimes. So I'm wheels up for Watson.
87:05I think he could play Golden, though I would prefer more certainty because of the matchup, and I think he has to be efficient.
87:13Now again, he can hit you a jackpot shot one time.
87:17He missed two different EDR touchdowns last year that get you home in fantasy on just a single play.
87:24Minnesota not really the team, again, we want to expect to be efficient with this.
87:29So Golden is on the bubble. I understand starting him.
87:33I'd probably rather not. I would rather start a guy like Jaden Reed in this matchup because I think when the chips
87:41are down, divisional game, in a close matchup, he's the more high probability guy.
87:46I know I mentioned Minnesota being very tough against the slot.
87:50I think Green Bay is going to have to move the ball at certain points because I'm a little bit worried about the Green Bay defense, right?
87:59They've struggled against the run. Where they've been okay against the pass, there's a lot of question marks for Minnesota.
88:06Oh, I almost forgot my guy Tucker Craft. The word is it's no restrictions.
88:11So I think I'm rolling with Tucker Craft. I'm hoping we don't get the Kittle treatment in which case I'm probably taking
88:19the L and then you'll need a replacement. So if you have Craft, I'm probably adding Dulcet or I'm looking to add
88:27Mike Meyer just in case always, right? We want to win now but you want to keep one hairy eyeball downrange.
88:34So I think the Packers are pretty straightforward. They did us that fever as far as the backfield goes.
88:41People are going to be dying to start Lloyd and I guess you have to.
88:47I don't know what kind of workload we could reasonably expect.
88:50The player I'm circling is actually Caleb Johnson. He's got, you know, some nice draft capital.
88:56I think he's really talented and I think with opportunity he could be really good.
89:02He may get that opportunity sooner than later. Again, as much as I want to believe in Lloyd, he's one of my highest rostered players.
89:10Every one of those clicks came after pick 160 knowing that I was worried when he went into the double digits.
89:18I was out on Lloyd. So remember, it is a price determinant game and I'm worried when that price is really high.
89:26Go add Caleb Johnson yesterday. Over to the Vikings.
89:29Who knows? The answer here is what you think about J.J.
89:33McCarthy who, I don't know, we're asking you how bad is J.J.
89:37McCarthy? If they're saying he lost the QB2 job to Carson Wentz, then maybe he is that bad and we should be believing in the Vikings.
89:46Maybe. Because Kevin O'Connell at one point was thought of as a QB kingmaker.
89:51Nick Mullins had monster games for crying out loud.
89:55However, I thought it was a little bit arrogant at the time to move away from Sam Darnall winning 14 games.
90:02I'm sorry, Kevin O'Connell. I love you, man. And I think you're very good at what you do.
90:0814 games should never be sneezed at and to think that a quarterback is just plug and play seemed a little bit misplaced.
90:17Learned his lesson the hard way with McCarthy. The team sunk and we saw the floor which is a literal zero which
90:25takes us right to Kyler Murray and whether or not he can elevate Justin Jefferson in a way that we've seen him elevate DeAndre Hopkins.
90:33What is the run game going to look like for Minnesota?
90:37Is Kyler going to take the reins? Will he be giving it off to my guy Jordan Mason?
90:44Again, I was not really drafting Vikings. I was taking running backs where Jefferson was going.
90:49Always worried that he was the type of player that could give you the blade.
90:55He is fantastic. Fantastic, legit wide receiver one potentially overall wide receiver one guy.
91:00I don't know if Kyler could get him there, especially with competition in the same room from Addison who I think is
91:08supremely talented and then even Juwan Jennings whose run blocking ability and toughness keeps him on the field in two wide receiver
91:15sets where I think he hurts Addison. Addison I'm looking at similarly to Matthew Golden.
91:21You start him if you need to and don't be kicking yourself over it but understand the worry that depending on the
91:29game script Addison might be seeing more of the sideline than any of us want to admit.
91:35If they need the run blocking you're going to be seeing Jennings.
91:39That's how it goes. I'm also sitting Hawkinson worried about the volume waiting for maybe a better game situation.
91:46So the Vikings kind of have me worried. I think they're going to be looking to lean on the defense.
91:53I think they're going to be moving the ball slowly and I think that caps the ceiling on a lot of the purple people eaters.
92:02But again I'm starting Mason. When we when or I guess I should say if and when the Vikings come in as
92:10big underdogs then you might want to shift to Aaron Jones who I think I'm off of right now.
92:16A little bit long in the tooth not so explosive all the campers has been for Mason who I'm anticipating to take the lion's share of work.
92:26Got to always watch the utilization. If Jones ends up being the lead back he's a tremendous value and somebody you're going to wish you had.
92:35I just don't think that's it. I think he's really going to be serving more for pass protection, pass catching role with
92:43Mason more of the baseline back and the guy around the goal line, the one that we really want to have.
92:51So a lot of mixed signals here but I think you just have to start the guys you're drafting with big capital.
92:58I want to try and push through the next one really quickly.
93:03We've got Arizona Cardinals. They're on the road as gigantic underdogs against the Chargers.
93:0810.5 point favorites in week one is kind of highly unusual.
93:1246.5 point total so that shakes out 28.5 for the Chargers, 19 for the Cardinals and I worry.
93:18As much as people tried to pump the Cardinals, I think what we saw at the end of last year was really a facade.
93:27I don't think garbage time production is sticky and it's hard to believe that they went back to Brissette after losing whatever
93:34it was nine in a row and 11 out of 12.
93:38The floor here for the Cardinals again, I just said it but it's zero.
93:43Chargers defense was excellent. If they take another step forward because they're returning a couple of injured starters into the fold, there's
93:51a chance they just shut the Cardinals out. This was like the best pass defense in the game and they got sacks
93:59without sending the blitz, something I always look for.
94:02Generally, that's a sign of creativity from the coaching staff.
94:06Chargers with one of the lowest blitz rates in the league below 12% yet still managing nearly 9% sack rate because of
94:14the big time sack to pressure conversion. I'm really scared of Arizona.
94:18Jeremiah Love is supposed to play but he's going to be limited.
94:22I think that knocks both Algier and Love out of contention for me.
94:27Of course you're starting McBride. Of course you're starting McBride.
94:30And I think also you can get to Michael Wilson.
94:34I'm worried about Harrison put him in that chin scratching question mark wide receiver bubble territory.
94:40I'm not buying it. I wasn't drafting Harrison. I do think that we have a chance for a little bit of a
94:48repeat from what we got from Wilson in the zero in that offense.
94:52But just keep in mind neither one of those wide outs was able to break out when both were playing.
94:59In fact Harrison got a little bit more of the attention.
95:03So if I could sit him I would but being down double digits double digit points on the you know kind of mean expectation.
95:12I think that's when you start to think about rolling it out.
95:16As much as I don't like who I'm sitting we know that they're willing to let him drop back 50 times in the game.
95:25And if he is going to drop back 50 times in the game then he could get a couple of players there
95:32on volume but I'm worried about the backfield. I'm worried about the wide receivers.
95:37The only confidence I have is with Trey McBride.
95:41So not to hurry through this one too much but you're rolling with your charges obviously right.
95:47Give me Hampton. I don't like Mitchell because he needs to be too efficient.
95:52We love Ladd McConkie. We love QJ of course.
95:55I'm probably sitting Trey Harris although I think he was a draft ace deal.
96:00Guys that carry that Q tag all the way through the summer end up getting you know their nose turned up at them.
96:08Nobody wants them. He's healthy and playing and is a really great contingency play.
96:13So Los Angeles kind of making it easy for us.
96:17Maybe a big question mark with the tight ends.
96:20People like Gaston coming in after last year. Looks like he might be phased out completely.
96:26They bring in Njoku. They bring in Charlie Kolar.
96:29And I don't know if I'm going to be riding the Kolar Express like so many of the other sharp fantasy analysts out there.
96:37Though I do think if you're speculating on tight ends Kolar is a perfect bet on a guy that you keep and
96:45see because if he goes out and gives you a 70% round participation rate and even makes four catches maybe falls in
96:53the end zone all of a sudden he's going to get a ton of attention.
96:58You want to jump on that first. So Charger's keeping it pretty easy for us.
97:04I think they smushed the Cardinals. And you really just want to be on the stars in this one.
97:10So one more segment left everybody. We got the primetime games coming up.
97:15Dallas and the Giants. Broncos and the Chiefs. Two big divisional matchups as we wrap up this week one season episode here
97:23at Fantasy Football Weekly with your host John Laghezza doing the very and Brunette from Ridiculous Crime.
97:29Sports fans do some ridiculous things and we somehow convince ourselves that all of them are completely reasonable.
97:35I'm not checking my pick every five minutes. Five minutes later checking the pick.
97:40I'm staying calm today. Sure you are. Then suddenly I'm emotionally invested in a backup tight end I had never heard of because this man needs 12 yards.
97:50I don't know him. I don't know where he went to school.
97:55I'm not entirely sure I know his first name.
97:58But right now his success is my success. Then the quarterback throws an interception so naturally I change seats because clearly my
98:06location on the couch had a direct impact on a professional football game happening hundreds of miles away.
98:12Is that rational? No. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely. And that's why it's fun.
98:17Every catch, every yard, every strange little twist until the game is over.
98:21That's why I love having something on the line.

102:25All right, that whistle is a two-minute warning. Let's wrap it up and score the rock one last time before we get
102:33out of here on Fantasy Football Weekly with your host, John Legazer, in the chair solo this week.
102:40Our friend, Jake Trowbridge, will be back. Thank goodness.
102:43Jake, we miss you, man. Make sure to check out the Fantasy Life website where you can find my week one manifesto.
102:51It is 15,000 words, believe it or not, of every single game going over my takes, expectations, headline for each game, next
102:59week's headlines, looking back, starts, sits, sleepers, and a couple stats for everything.
103:03That's along with all the projections and the week, the game model and everything.
103:08There is so much great stuff going on over there at MB Fantasy Life.
103:13Make sure to check it out. You can check me on Twitter at JohnLegaze, my name, if you have any questions.
103:21All right, let's wrap this up. We got two divisional games to go.
103:25First one couldn't be easier to summarize. Dallas Cowboys on the road against the New York Giants.
103:31Big Blue is a two and a half point dog at home with a 48 and a half points on the board here.
103:40Should be pretty exciting, but again, it's all really streamlined, nice and neat.
103:44We love it. You know, I thought it was last year.
103:48I had to look it up. It turned out it wasn't.
103:52I was like, wait, didn't the Giants host Dallas at home in a primetime game week one last year?
103:59No, it was two years ago and they lost 40 to nothing.
104:03Well, the jerseys are the same, but the faces have changed.
104:07So Dallas, again, this should be easy. I'm projecting Dallas along with the rest of the world to be one of the
104:15better, if not like the best offense in real football, but also for fantasy because of the big C consolidation.
104:22Dak Prescott looks awesome. He was great last year, scored over 300 fantasy points.
104:27No one seems to care. Javante Williams. Now I'll be fair.
104:31I wasn't really drafting him because I kind of thought of him as maybe dusty.
104:36I was also worried about Jaden Blue. Well, that didn't work out.
104:40Trombone sound here. Blue gets cut. They bring in Amari DiMarcado.
104:44And I heard Malik Davis actually got caughted off the field today.
104:49Again, we don't want to overreact. Look what happened to Ashton Gentile.
104:53He ended up being fine. He's actually off the injury report.
104:57I just saw that. So pump the brakes. But it does, at the very least in the short term, look like it's wheels up for Javante Williams.
105:06You're starting him no matter what. Of course you're starting Lamb.
105:10Of course you're starting Pickens. They are, you know, the tree trunk, right?
105:15We often talk about a target tree. So if the target tree were an actual tree, Dallas is a redwood, right?
105:23It's one single trunk, unlike some other teams, which are like a bonsai tree, which are short and spread out all over
105:30the place, which we want to be on the redwoods, right?
105:34Cincinnati is a redwood. Dallas is a redwood. Now I want to be a little bit careful with somebody like Jake Ferguson, though.
105:42He got a little bit of love. I was off of Ferguson again, the catch and fall tight ends.
105:49I think he's an afterthought when the rest of the guys are healthy, sometimes in there to block a little bit more
105:57than I want for my tight ends. I'm just not sure he's really explosive.
106:02So Dallas making it really easy for us. Giants off defense, excuse me, really not great.
106:08We've seen them get blown up, and I think that could happen again.
106:12Dallas defense was a little weak, though. They put a lot of capital into that defense, both with acquisitions, extensions.
106:20Quinn and Williams got extended, and they also brought in a couple draft picks.
106:25So Dallas might get better. I think they're a dark horse for the Super Bowl.
106:30But the Giants should get it done anyway. So again, quick cap on Dallas is the studs.
106:36Sitting Ferguson, I have Flournoy as a sleeper, because if we think this game could get near 50 points, I think we're going to need another wide receiver.
106:46So he's kind of a fun showdown pick. He's kind of a fun stream.
106:51He's also one of the few wide receivers that I think has big time contingency value.
106:57Though I don't know if I'm going to necessarily start him unless I absolutely need to.
107:02Giants couldn't be neater either. You're starting Dart in a fire.
107:06Can't Scadabo. I can't believe people trying to convince us that like the Giants don't like Scadabo and they're going to play Najee Harris.
107:15I'm not buying that for one second. Scadabo. I'm condensing things.
107:19We're in a hurry. Scadabo with Jackson Dart, the two of them together, the Bass brothers from Mighty Ducks, when they're playing together, Scadabo is a smash RB1.
107:29All the work, all the goal line work with receptions, maybe Najee Harris does a little bit of pass protecting.
107:36Nobody gets 100% of the workload nowadays. So Giants really easy.
107:40I think you got to start neighbors, even if he's at 75%, the draft capital he spent, plus the fact 75% of
107:48Malik neighbors is still 100% better than most people.
107:51So I think you roll with him. The guy I'm really excited about for the Giants has got to be Isaiah Likely.
107:59All of a sudden, nobody likes him. We liked Likely when he was the tight end too, and if only he would get an opportunity.
108:07Well, now he got an opportunity and no one seems to care.
108:12Giants also vacated like 3,000 slot targets. All right, it was 142, but still Wanda Robinson targets that were mostly underneath.
108:19Who is going to operate from the slot? For my money, it's Likely.
108:24I think we're going to get Theo Johnson is going to be out there blocking.
108:29I think Likely is going to serve as a slot one out.
108:34I think he has a chance to be a huge breakout pick.
108:38My sit for the Giants is probably Malachi Fields.
108:41He feels like more of a Juwan Jennings type.
108:44Right now, you may see him in and kind of blocking, looking to set up for some swing passes.
108:51So this one, nice and clean. Big time total, prime time game, consolidated target trees on both sides.
108:57Loving every bit of it, man. I can't believe Jackson Dart has been going so late.
109:03Honestly, it's the thing I've been stuck on maybe more than anything, that running quarterbacks, even though what we know about it
109:11and how the scoring for running is disproportionate and the Konami code, cheat code, skeleton key has been a thing forever.
109:18No one seems to care. So I care. Hopefully my running quarterbacks come through.
109:23Last but not least, Denver Broncos on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs.
109:28Bo Nix seems like he's 100% and ready to go.
109:32Chiefs are three-point favorites at home with a 42.5 point total.
109:36I'm much lower than that. Obviously the Broncos defense is fantastic.
109:40Chiefs defense is also fantastic. My worry with the Chiefs is that rather than bolster the offense that I think desperately needs it, they put even more resources.
109:50I should have said aerially because they put all their resources into the defense and the run game with Ken Walker.
109:57So this would lead me into the Chiefs, regardless of what we think of the Denver defense, which they're fantastic, is I
110:05think the Tyreek Hill days are over. I think the Chiefs have kind of telegraphed to us through their roster moves what their intentions are.
110:14And it's to win on defense, run the ball, and have Patrick Mahomes work a little bit of magic and win you every single game.
110:23It's going to happen. It's worked before. And I think Walker is really going to elevate this team.
110:29So I'm all over Walker. I'm sitting Mahomes. I think maybe you're starting Kelsey just for volume.
110:35I'm worried about Rashi Rice. You paid for it.
110:39Maybe you're rolling out there. I don't like the matchup.
110:42I don't think he looks healthy. I don't think he could win and press me in coverage.
110:48I'm very worried about that. Rice is a bust.
110:51I'm worried that Worthy is too fragile. He already got hurt.
110:55My sleeper pick has been Cyrus Allen. I'm not starting him week one, but he's another guy I want on my squad before the breakout.
111:04I don't want to show it on my fab.
111:07I don't want to use my priority pick. I want him there beforehand.
111:12And if it turns out to be nothing, Berger, easy come, easy go, as Bobby Sherman would say.
111:18That's a little bit of a deep cut there.
111:22I don't know how old our listenership is. So, yeah, I think it's pretty simple, right?
111:27You roll with Knicks. I'm off of Sutton. You're going with, you know, Harvey maybe to catch the passes because that Chiefs run defense is so rough.
111:37So from Big John, our producer Robbie and Jake from somewhere sunny.
111:41I appreciate you all for listening to the show.
111:44That's fantasy football weekly. We'll be right here. Same bad time, same bad channel.

112:10What's the weather? How strong is the wind? Who's injured?
112:13Why is this guy not getting the ball? Now I'm three feet from the television yelling, throw him the ball!
112:20Like the quarterback has been waiting all afternoon for Zarin Burnett's expert analysis.
112:25He has not. But that's the fun of it.
112:28Once you make your picks, every ridiculous little detail suddenly matters.
