Player insights

53

A.J. Brown

PositiveValue49:01

Brown is cited as an example of a top-tier player the source would be happy to acquire in an auction; paired with Omari Hampton, Brown represents the caliber of elite talent (top 25-26 overall) the source targets with 45-55% of auction budget.

Insight page

Aaron Jones

NegativeRole22:31

Vikings backfield option; mentioned as part of strategy to draft two backs from same team in middle rounds; similar uncertainty to Panthers, Commanders, and Steelers.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

PositiveInjury5:09

Adam Schefter expressed optimism that Alec Pierce will be ready for week one.

Insight page

Bijan Robinson

PositiveValue6:10

Robinson is positioned as one of the top four running backs in auction strategy alongside Jahmyr Gibbs, Jonathan Taylor, and Christian McCaffrey; speaker notes a definite sliding scale among these four but advises committing close to half budget for either of the top two running backs.

Insight page
PositiveValue49:15

Robinson is referenced as a top-tier running back in the context of auction strategy; the source discusses allocating 45-55% of budget for two elite players in the top 25-28 range overall, with Bijan as an example of a premium target.

Insight page
NegativeValue64:18

Auction value set at $29–30 on a $100 budget (approximately 30% of budget), placing him in the same tier as Jameer Gibbs. Speaker suggests Gibbs warrants more aggressive bidding than Bijan.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

NegativeValue47:03

Bowers is flagged as a top-tier tight end likely to be overpriced in auctions; the source advises letting other people spend on Josh Allen and Brock Bowers and McBride unless you really want those guys, because when those guys are nominated early, people get overexcited and tend to spend more than necessary on those one-position spots.

Insight page

Caleb Douglas

NegativeDepth Chart6:31

Listed among top five receivers on the Dolphins depth chart.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveValue46:42

Williams is positioned as a mid-tier quarterback available at significant discount in auctions; the source advises letting the board fall and targeting quarterbacks like Dak, Lawrence, and Caleb much cheaper than expected, especially if top-tier options (Josh Allen) are nominated early and drive up prices.

Insight page

Chase Brown

NegativeValue60:15

Brown is included in speaker's second tier of running backs to target in auction, alongside Ken Walker, Saquon Barkley, Henry, and A-chan; speaker's strategy is to wait for two or three top-tier backs to come off the board before jumping in on this tier to avoid overpaying.

Insight page

Chris Bell

NegativeDepth Chart6:23

Back with the Dolphins; listed among top five receivers on the team's depth chart.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

PositiveValue28:35

McCaffrey is positioned as one of the top four running backs in auction strategy alongside Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, and Jonathan Taylor; speaker notes a definite sliding scale among these four but advises 30-35% budget allocation for the third and fourth tier running backs.

Insight page
NegativeRole30:35

49ers want handcuff to be multi-dimensional with receiving ability, not purely one-dimensional runner; Shanahan mentioned preference for back who can catch and run; handcuff situation unclear between Black and James.

Insight page
NegativeProjection66:48

Christian McCaffrey's primary risk is injury; if healthy, he will perform very well. However, if his passing-down usage regresses and targets decline, he could fall to a 17-18 points-per-game pace, which would be more of a round-two pick value rather than a first-round anchor.

Insight page
NegativeValue67:38

In a $100 auction budget, acquiring McCaffrey for ~$25 and his handcuff (likely Isaac Guerendo or similar) for $1 is a reasonable strategy. The only material risk is injury; if McCaffrey plays, production is expected to be strong, making the $1 handcuff insurance a worthwhile hedge.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveValue9:00

Since 2022, Christian Watson ranks third in fantasy points per target among all wide receivers, behind Jaden Reed and Jalen Naylor; this efficiency supports the Packers passing game as underrated despite lower overall throw volume.

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

NegativeRole22:31

Hubbard expected to work in rushing downs and passing downs in Carolina backfield; positioned as complementary option to Brooks in rounds 8-9 ADP range, with potential to be flex option if both are drafted together.

Insight page

Dak Prescott

PositiveValue46:42

Prescott is positioned as a mid-tier quarterback available at significant discount in auctions; the source advises letting the board fall and targeting quarterbacks like Dak, Lawrence, and Caleb much cheaper than expected, especially if top-tier options (Josh Allen) are nominated early and drive up prices.

Insight page

Dalvin Cook

NegativeRole22:31

Vikings backfield option; mentioned as part of strategy to draft two backs from same team in middle rounds; similar uncertainty to Panthers, Commanders, and Steelers.

Insight page

David Njoku

PositiveSleeper27:48

Njoku ranked tight end 30 on Fantasy Pros; not ranked on CBS; unlikely to be sleeper despite question; will rotate with Gadsden and Kohler; Kohler getting most snaps; limited opportunity expected after five-six years of good fantasy profile.

Insight page

Derek Carr

NegativeProjection7:10

Under Kellen Moore's play-calling history, his starting quarterbacks have averaged 21+ points per game when they've been the starter for the majority of the season; Carr achieved approximately this level in the second half of last season.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

NegativeValue60:15

Henry is included in speaker's second tier of running backs to target in auction, alongside Chase Brown, Ken Walker, Saquon Barkley, and A-chan; speaker's strategy is to wait for two or three top-tier backs to come off the board before jumping in on this tier to avoid overpaying.

Insight page

Isiah Pacheco

NegativeInjury6:14

MCL appears fine but has a back injury, which is disappointing for his fantasy outlook.

Insight page
NegativeRole22:31

Steelers backfield mentioned as option for drafting two backs from same team in middle rounds; similar uncertainty to Panthers and Commanders backfields.

Insight page
NegativeValue58:03

Pacheco was a sixth-round caliber pick who fell through the cracks in auction, available three hours in; speaker spent $12 on him late when other bidders were down to $4–$5, but notes he would have cost $7–$8 if nominated early, making the late-round spend inefficient relative to his draft capital and the opportunity cost of early-round value.

Insight page

Jahmyr Gibbs

PositiveValue37:55

Gibbs is identified as one of the top four running backs in auction strategy alongside Bijan Robinson, Jonathan Taylor, and Christian McCaffrey; speaker advises committing close to half budget for either of the top two running backs, with Gibbs in that tier requiring significant allocation.

Insight page

Jalen Tolbert

NegativeDepth Chart6:48

Listed among top five receivers on the Dolphins depth chart.

Insight page

James Cook

NegativeDepth Chart37:18

James Cook was drafted in the third round in a one-keeper redraft league but is being traded away by the commissioner in exchange for Fab and a late-round pick swap, raising questions about keeper league trade eligibility rules.

Insight page

Jarquez Hunter

NegativeRole5:17

Jarquez Hunter was traded away by the Rams to the Dolphins in exchange for wide receiver Tutu Atwell; the trade may indicate the Rams are moving away from Hunter in favor of other running back options like UDFA Dean Conner.

Insight page

Jaxon Smith-Njigba

PositiveValue47:10

JSN was acquired for $11 in the source's auction draft last year, cited as a great pick and successful value acquisition that fit the strategy of letting the board fall and targeting mid-tier talent at discount prices.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

PositiveValue9:00

Since 2022, Jaden Reed ranks number one among all wide receivers in fantasy points per target, ahead of Jalen Naylor, Christian Watson, Jamison Williams, and Keyshawn Booty; this efficiency metric suggests the Packers passing game is underrated despite lower overall volume.

Insight page

Jaylen Waddle

NegativeValue43:39

Waddle is cited as a reference point in the Waddle-Abukabar range for wide receiver pricing strategy in auction leagues; the source notes these receivers went for $13-14 last year and can be used as anchors for building multiple auction roster construction strategies based on projected salary tiers.

Insight page
NegativeValue45:30

Waddle is referenced as part of a tier of six similar-valued wide receivers in auction strategy discussion; the source uses this tier as an example of how to identify a group of players at a similar price point and target one of them based on value relative to last year's auction costs.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

NegativeRole22:31

Steelers backfield option; mentioned as part of strategy to draft two backs from same team in middle rounds; similar uncertainty profile to Panthers and Commanders.

Insight page
PositiveValue46:16

Warren is positioned as a tight end available at significant discount in auctions; the source advises letting the board fall and targeting mid-tier tight ends like Laporta, Warren, Kraft, and Likely much cheaper than expected, especially if top-tier options (Josh Allen, Brock Bowers, McBride) are nominated early and drive up prices.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

PositiveRole61:33

Speaker indicates there's a good chance Jeremiah Love plays early in the season, though health status remains uncertain; similar to Ashton Gentry, the team appears to be counting on him for early-season action.

Insight page

Jonah Coleman

PositiveSleeper56:57

One of Dave's favorite sleepers; recommended valuation in a $100 auction budget is $1–$2, with a ceiling of $2 late in the auction process; strategy is to bid up to $2 but accept losing him rather than overpay early when demand inflates his price.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveValue60:03

Taylor is identified as one of the top four running backs in auction strategy alongside Jahmyr Gibbs, Bijan Robinson, and Christian McCaffrey; speaker advises 30-35% budget allocation for the third and fourth tier running backs, with Taylor in that tier.

Insight page

Jordan James

NegativeRole30:35

James missed time with injury and most of training camp; came in after Black in preseason game; behind Black in handcuff hierarchy for McCaffrey; younger (22 vs 25) but lower draft capital (5th round vs 3rd round); more explosive profile but ramping up from injury.

Insight page

Josh Allen

NegativeValue47:03

Allen is flagged as a top-tier quarterback likely to be overpriced in auctions; the source advises letting other people spend on Josh Allen and Brock Bowers and McBride unless you really want those guys, because when those guys are nominated early, people get overexcited and tend to spend more than necessary on those one-position spots.

Insight page
NegativeValue61:51

Speaker states he is not a Josh Allen guy and uses him as an example of a player to nominate in auction to drive up price and get money off the board from other bidders, allowing the nominator to save budget for later picks.

Insight page
NegativeValue63:59

Used as an example of a player the speaker would nominate at a low opening bid ($1) rather than price-enforce; strategy is to let other teams spend their budget on the player rather than artificially inflate the price.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeUsage9:00

Potential Josh Jacobs suspension could reduce Packers rushing volume; the source expects the Packers to throw more this year, suggesting a shift away from their typical run-heavy approach.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

NegativeDepth Chart7:00

Vikings receiver; mentioned in context of top receivers on team depth chart.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeRole7:29

Vikings offense is underrated at ADP; downside exists if Kyler is no longer seeing the field well and not playing at a high level, but the team has a really easy schedule and has been slept on ADP-wise all offseason with the exception of Jefferson.

Insight page

Malik Washington

NegativeDepth Chart6:41

Listed among top five receivers on the Dolphins depth chart.

Insight page

Mark Andrews

PositiveProjection24:58

Andrews ranked tight end 13-14 in ADP; coming off one of his worst seasons since rookie year; needs 8+ touchdowns to crack top 12 tight ends; target share concerns with Bateman and Jacoby Lane in mix; requires 90+ targets to be truly productive, but has only 69-70 targets in last two full seasons.

Insight page

Pharaoh Brown

PositiveSleeper27:48

Kohler positioned as the deep sleeper dart throw option at tight end for Browns; getting most snaps in three-TE rotation; better opportunity profile than Njoku or Gadsden.

Insight page

Rashod Bateman

NegativeRole24:58

Bateman had strong camp; competing for targets with Mark Andrews and Jacoby Lane in Ravens offense; could impact Andrews' target allocation.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeValue60:15

Barkley is included in speaker's second tier of running backs to target in auction, alongside Chase Brown, Ken Walker, Henry, and A-chan; speaker's strategy is to wait for two or three top-tier backs to come off the board before jumping in on this tier to avoid overpaying.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

NegativeDepth Chart8:37

Saints tight end (Travis HN); one of only two players being drafted as starting fantasy options on the Saints offense, along with Alave; has an impressive resume.

Insight page

Tutu Atwell

NegativeRole5:17

The Rams acquired Tutu Atwell from the Dolphins in a trade for running back Jarquez Hunter; Sean McVay indicated the move was about adding wide receiver depth rather than addressing a possible Puka Nacua suspension.

Insight page
NegativeDepth Chart5:52

Dolphins can afford to trade or move Atwell given their depth at wide receiver.

1:24And he stays on his feet! He's just gonna go the distance!
1:27Now, here's some combination of Adam, Dave, Jamie, and Heath.
1:30Wait, wait, don't talk, don't talk. Hold on. Dan.
1:32We're on the air. We're waiting for you. BTV went late.
1:35Can I get a street yard link? It's not in my email.
1:39It sucks. That can't be true. Tell him it's from Sam, not Thomas.
1:43It's from Sam. We're on the air right now.
1:45We're having this conversation in the air. I don't get it.
1:48He's gonna curse. Why are we doing this? He's definitely on the email with the street yard link.
1:53And now I can tell you, it's mailbag time!
1:56Adam and Jamie are here. We were waiting for Dan.
1:59Dan, Beyond the Box Square went late. I'm sorry.
2:01I'm gonna make fun of him now. Beyond the Box Square went late.
2:05Nobody sent me a stream yard link, of course.
2:07He did get a stream yard link. Here he is.
2:10Stream yard is the program we use to record our podcast.
2:13You all right over there, buddy? No, Beyond Stress for other reasons, but okay.
2:17This is gonna be a doozy. I'm gonna make you feel better.
2:21In the last 30 minutes, I walked into a spider web and freaked out, because I hate that.
2:26And I ate what I thought was a grape, but it was actually a tomato, and it was disgusting.
2:31Like, it was a fine tomato, but when you think you're eating a grape, and you eat it, and it's a tomato?
2:37Because it was like one of those purple-y tomatoes, like, looked like a grape?
2:41Oh, it was horrible. I don't know that I've ever seen a grape that looked, a tomato that looks like a grape.
2:48That's a first for me. Well, there are grape tomatoes.
2:50Yeah, but this was like, it looked like a long grape.
2:53I was like, this is an oddly shaped grape, and then I ate it, and it was definitely not a grape.
2:59Anyway, welcome to the show, Dan. I just had to do like 25 minutes worth of stuff in 10 minutes, and I went over by 7 minutes.
3:07So I'm not doing great, but with that said, I'm happy to talk mailbag today.
3:11I'm happy to talk auction strategy as well. So excited for the show.
3:15All right, so here's what's... Dan, just wait. I got about 10 articles to send you today.
3:20Oh, that's awesome. That's all. I love when the articles drop like yesterday, like 7 p.m.
3:24I get notifications for four articles that come in.
3:27It's like, all right, well, do I have a chance to spend my night how I plan to, or no?
3:32Yeah, well, Dan is a... No, why am I complaining?
3:35We have the greatest job in the world. So I take all that back.
3:39Let me resettle, recalibrate. Shush, shush, shush. Important stuff here.
3:42And coming up, we have an auction talk. We're going to do that in the second half of the episode.
3:48We'll get mailbag first, auction talk, second half of the episode.
3:51We're going to tell you how to win your auction league.
3:54But even more important, I keep forgetting about this.
3:56We have our Leftovers League. It's our other podcast league.
3:59We're drafting September 2nd at 8 p.m. Eastern. If you want to be in the league, we have some spots available.
4:05Please email fantasyfootballatcbsi.com. Put Leftovers League in the subject line.
4:08September 2nd, 8 p.m. If you can't make it, don't submit.
4:11Fantasyfootballatcbsi.com. That's our email address for everything. But put Leftovers League in the subject line.
4:15Heath and I share a team. And then we compete against nine other people.
4:19We have like five spots left, I think. Anyway, it's 10 teams.
4:23I believe it's half PPR. And it's Superflex. All right.
4:26Did you steal that from me? Or did I steal it from you?
4:29The Leftover League. The calling it the Leftover League.
4:32It was sort of thrust upon me by someone at work.
4:35I didn't want to call it the Leftovers League.
4:37That's what I call all the leagues that I do for the people that you never let in.
4:42I know. I know. This used to be the For the People League, but whatever.
4:47Oh, that's what you used to call it. So you did steal it from me.
4:51That's right. No, I did steal it from you.
4:54Someone higher up made me call it the Leftovers League.
4:56Oh, that's so terrible. That's copyright infringement. You owe me money.
4:59All right. Let's get into the show. I'll do my Leftover Leagues too.
5:03Don't worry for everybody that Adam shuns. I didn't give some notes on the earlier Friday show, but Adam Schefter expressed optimism
5:09that Alec Pierce will be ready for week one.
5:12The Raiders haven't named their starting quarterback yet, although by the time you hear this, maybe they will have.
5:17Travion Henderson expected for week one. The Rams acquired Tutu Atwell from the Dolphins for running back Jarquez Hunter.
5:23Sean McVay said that was about having wide receiver depth, not about a possible Pukinacua suspension.
5:27That was the strangest trade I think I've ever seen.
5:30I was on the set for CBS Spotlight, whatever we call it, on HQ, and I'm sitting there with Dave and I go, this is a joke, right?
5:38It's like a fake Schefter account. Well, it's Dean Conner season.
5:41You know who that is, Adam? No, I don't know who that is.
5:45A little UDFA running back for the Rams that looks pretty good on preseason tape.
5:49That might be the reason they traded Jarquez. I don't know.
5:52Okay. I was going to say the Dolphins don't really need any more wide receivers.
5:56They're good there, so they can get rid of Tutu Atwell.
5:59To be fair, I didn't really know who that was either, Connors, but Jacob put me on to him.
6:05Okay. I'm sure he'll be great. Can you name the top five receivers on the Dolphins depth chart without looking?
6:10Yes, but let me tell you, Wando Robinson's being evaluated for a concussion.
6:14Isaiah Pacheco seems like his MCL was fine, but he has a back injury, so that's disappointing.
6:19Mike McDonald said that wide receiver Torrey Horton's injury is not a long-term one.
6:23Dolphins, we've got Chris Bell back. We've got Demario Douglas.
6:26We've got... Wrong already. Dan, you're up. Not Demario Douglas.
6:28What on there? Unofficial depth chart you're talking about?
6:31Caleb Douglas. Top five receivers on the team. Doesn't have to be the order.
6:35Adam Pacheco. No, come on. I got this. How is Bell wrong?
6:38Bell, Douglas, Malik Washington. First names. Jalen. Jalen Tolbert.
6:41Who's the fifth? Who is that? Do they even have anyone else on that depth chart?
6:45Another Jalen. Jalen. Jalen. Hopefully soon to be Jalen Hyde.
6:48Former first-round pick in the NFL draft. I can't...
6:51I don't know why I'm drawing a... Former first-round pick in the NFL draft.
6:55Yes. The Vikings celebrated it very profoundly. Oh, Jalen Naylor.
6:58Wow. Oh, he's on that team? Oh, my God.
7:00You're terrible. Not Naylor. Jalen Rager. Jalen Rager. Jalen Rager.
7:03Jalen Rager is the Rager. Yeah. All right. Justin Jefferson.
7:06Yeah, pick before Justin Jefferson. Okay. Draft-a-thon questions. Emails.
7:08FantasyFootball. At CBSI.com. Mario Douglas. Wow. Our first question...
7:11Our first question was from an anonymous person who wanted to know how much he could donate to St.
7:16Jude. He didn't have a ton of money, so he just wanted to donate $20.
7:20So if you want to go... I know the draft-a-thon show is over, but he wants to start this chain of people donating $20 to change people's lives.
7:28Please be like this person. Go to tinyurl.com slash FFTdonate2026, and you can still make donations.
7:33Now, next question is from Tyler in New York City.
7:36A key way to ID potential breakouts is to find underrated offenses.
7:39Last year, it was the Colts, at least prior to the Jones injury.
7:43Who are your top three offenses that you think are being underrated and you might want to target players on in drafts?
7:49The Vikings are the first and foremost for me.
7:51Been on them all offseason. There is obviously downside if Kyler is no longer seeing the field well and not playing at
7:58a high level, but they have a really easy schedule and they've been kind of slept on ADP-wise all offseason, with the exception of Jefferson.
8:05The Saints? No one seems to have any concerns about Tyler Shuck.
8:08Well, I mean, there's concerns. Otherwise, we'd be ranking him higher.
8:11And I think looking at this offense in a more favorable light, I think really the only two players that are getting
8:17drafted as starting fantasy options are Alave and Travis HN, and they have a pretty impressive resume, each of them.
8:23So, you know, the loss of Tyson doesn't make things better for Shuck and the Saints.
8:28That being said, I've said this a few times.
8:30Kellen Moore's history as a play caller, his quarterbacks have all scored when they've been the starter for the majority of the season.
8:37All average, excuse me. 21 points per game or more.
8:39And that's basically what Shuck was when he was the starter the second half of the season.
8:44Yeah, so the Saints, I would say, honestly, I would say the Colts again.
8:48People, you know, probably down on them a little bit.
8:51And I'm concerned about them, but they could be very good.
8:54And I would say the Packers passing game with a possibility of a Josh Jacobs suspension with just, I just feel like
9:00they're not going to run the ball quite as much as usual.
9:04And I want to tell you since 2022, when both Christian Watson and Jaden Reed entered the league, here are the top
9:10five wide receivers and fantasy points per target. Jaden Reed is number one.
9:14Jalen Naylor is number two. He's not on the Dolphins, though.
9:17Christian Watson is number three. Jamison Williams is four.
9:19And Keyshawn Booty is five. You have a very efficient offense.
9:22And I would say the passing game for the Packers to me is perhaps an underrated one because they are very efficient,
9:29but they just don't throw that much. I think they'll throw more this year.
9:33Tampa Bay, I think they bounce back. I think what we're looking for is clearly for what the teams that fit the
9:39bill last year, Jacksonville, Indianapolis, Chicago is quarterback play that fans are questioning, not believing in and great offensive line play and
9:45great offensive scheming is really the combo there. So I mentioned the Vikings there.
9:49They're fit that bill perfectly. I think from the scheme, offensive line, questionable quarterback play.
9:53Jamie mentioned Tampa. They're they're expected. I'm trying to find out like I'm trying to figure out a nut saints are a good one.
10:00And I mean, I wouldn't put them now. I don't think the Giants qualify because the coaching standpoint, uh, uh, there's really,
10:06I mean, if you're looking down the board offensive line and scheme being a plus the Steelers, maybe if McCarthy can get
10:12back his magic from a schematic standpoint, we saw it with Schottenheimer.
10:16Um, I would say that the main culprits are the ones Jamie and I brought up earlier though.
10:21Okay. And I do think the Giants qualify from a personnel standpoint.
10:24Like they could take a big jump where I worried about, but it's Matt Nagy.
10:29Yeah. All right. Thank you for the question, Tyler.
10:31Much appreciated. Next up gamer, Eric, who is in the channel gamer, Eric, and I had an email exchange yesterday where he misquoted Rocky IV.
10:38I didn't want to embarrass him, but I'm going to embarrass him.
10:42He misquoted Rocky four. He's a big movie guy.
10:44So that's surprising. Yeah. He was pretty embarrassing. He's in the chat right now.
10:48And I think he has never done an auction.
10:51Let's see. He said hard to believe I've been playing for 25 years and still no auction.
10:55And, um, he said that as commissioner, one of the managers suggested this week, we should do an auction.
11:01We've had a hard enough time getting people to stay two to three hours for an in-person snake draft.
11:06What are some tips to overcome this? Um, so yeah, like how do you, we're going to talk more about auctions later.
11:12This is the only auction part in the first half of the show, but how do you get people to stay and
11:19have fun for two to three hours? Cause it is a long event, Dan.
11:22Are you talking about for an in-person live auction or an in-person done on the website auction?
11:27Um, they're very, two different things. I think he's talking about, I think he's, I don't know.
11:32I think he's talking about in-person. He said in-person snake draft.
11:35I would say the first thing you should do is make sure it's still on the online app.
11:40You all guys all get together, but do it online.
11:43Cause online will move it along and keep it going faster.
11:46Especially it's your first auction. It's pretty risky to do it offline.
11:50So keep it online and look the way it goes.
11:52It's pretty at this point, like from an online auction standpoint, it goes the time it's supposed to go.
11:58Will it go longer than a snake? Yes, but it's only, I bet.
12:01Like, I mean, just judging on our auction that we do every year, Jamie, that Dave organizes, what do we lose?
12:07An extra 35, 30 to 45 minutes, maybe an hour at most.
12:11Not really. Um, that's a lower rostered elite player league, but you know, you, you're going to just add 30 to 60
12:17minutes as far as like keeping people engaged. It's up to you.
12:20Like, is your league into fantasy football? And are they nerds about fantasy football?
12:24Cause if not, they shouldn't do an auction. If they are, then they're going to be engaged the entire time.
12:30The auction is the most engaging way to play fantasy football by far.
12:34You need to be aware of every single bid.
12:36You need to have in your mind a value on every single player.
12:40There's no zoning out like you can do in a snake.
12:43That's not true. You can zone out. If you spend money early, you could zone out, I guess, technically, but you should
12:49always be looking to hunt for value in auction.
12:52That's the whole point of an auction. Yeah. But if there's a player that you just don't want or can't use, like
12:58if you have, you zone out, but his bid is over within seconds or minutes.
13:02Yeah. Yeah. You can zone out. I think the, the, the best way to make it more entertaining is to do it
13:08in person because then you're, you're, you're engaging with everybody and you're seeing how people are acting and reacting to bids.
13:14And clearly if you do it as a draft party, you know, you're getting to spend time with your friends, which is,
13:21you know, the best part of this. And if, if you like, I don't, I don't disagree with Dan about, you know,
13:27maybe doing it online, but still like, if you can find a way to get somebody to be an auctioneer, like that's just the jokes are endless.
13:34We did that last year and that it worked out really well.
13:38It, yeah, it's, it's actually, I, it's kind of a must.
13:41You don't want someone in the league being the auctioneer.
13:44That's tough. It's too, I should come up for your auction this year and we'll play some tennis, Adam.
13:49September. We're, we're set. It's going to be next week.
13:52We're trying to figure out the spot for me in the league.
13:55Maybe. Maybe. Oh, that would ruin Adam's advantage. No, I mean, you got to take down the auction expert, you know?
14:01All right. Um, I guess I just, one more suggestion.
14:04If you are intimidated by the time is I think we've done this in baseball before.
14:09You could take like the top, you have to figure it out.
14:12Like you're in a 12 team league. You do eight rounds with that's 96 players.
14:16You could take the 96 top players, however you determine it by ADP or whatever, and do auction for them and then do the rest snake draft.
14:24Yeah. Afterwards. You also, if you want to get done quickly, just spend all your money and don't care about your dollar bits.
14:30You could go studs and dods, right? And zone out or whatever.
14:34Yeah. Zone out. All right. Here's an email at fantasyfootballatcbsi.com from Nick.
14:37Nick says, Hey, Otto, Reggie, Maurice, and Sam from an underrated TV show.
14:41Otto, Reggie, Maurice, and Sam. Sam from an underrated TV show.
14:44I'm supposed to be the guy who knows TV.
14:46Rocket power. I have no idea. Oh, rocket power.
14:49Were you too old for rocket power? That was right in my age range, Adam.
14:53Yeah. Oh, Schaefer is like all about rocket power.
14:56I could see. Yeah. I was about to hop on and say rocket power, but you beat me to it.
15:01Schaefer's such a, if I could just look at Thomas Schaefer, I would, and someone said, Thomas Schaefer's a rocket power fan.
15:08I'd be like, that checks out a hundred percent.
15:10He looks like the people in the show to some extent.
15:13And he probably still calls people shoobies. You know what a shoobie is?
15:17No, but this is great. I love it. Yeah.
15:19I know what a shoobie is. Thomas does, obviously.
15:22Adam must be a shoobie then. Adam is. Adam a hundred percent would be a shoobie.
15:27He would be. He would be. He's like, that's a Glock shoobie.
15:30All right. The question is, why do you have Brock Bowers ahead of Trey McBride?
15:34I think Bowers is in a spot where he could lead the NFL in targets.
15:38I think he could have an opportunity to be among the reception leaders.
15:42You're talking about a guy that had an elite profile as a rookie battled through a PCL injury last year.
15:48I think if he had sat out and maybe came back at the end of the season, instead of trying to play
15:54through it, we would have gotten the best of ours.
15:57But you saw that one game against Jacksonville. I love Trey McBride.
16:00I just think we're gonna have a better run game in Arizona than we had last year.
16:05You're going to get more opportunities. Remember, a lot of what McBride did at the end of the season was without Marvin Harrison.
16:11So you got Harrison and what should be a better version of Michael Wilson there.
16:16So given the receiving core for the Raiders, they both have questionable quarterbacks in my mind.
16:20I think there's more upside for Brock Bowers. Slightly, but more.
16:23Okay. Yeah. I mean, Bowers is like, you know, he's just sitting there on like the tight end beach and then McBride comes in.
16:30He's a total shoobie. Yeah. McBride wouldn't be a shoobie, but you, you, you would.
16:34Yeah, I would. I looked, I Googled. The other question was, I'll give this one to Dan.
16:39Why are we not higher on Chris Olave? After Shuck took over, he was sixth in points per game.
16:45Why is he ranked 11th, especially with Jordan Tyson's injury?
16:47I think not only six in points per game, I think he's like wide receiver three overall or something.
16:53After Shuck took over, I saw that stat yesterday from Dave Kluge.
16:56I guess the reason to not be more excited about him is his injury history with the concussions.
17:01The fact that he's hurt right now. We have very little information based off of that.
17:06And thirdly, the fact that he's not hurt. Oh, he's fine completely.
17:09He came down and practiced and they just said he got the wind knocked out of him.
17:14Okay, good. Cause I hadn't heard any updates on that.
17:17That's good. Um, and then for me, the main one, which has nothing to do with injuries, which is like, if you,
17:23if you look at it like this, I mean, there's just no way that the schedule they had at the end of
17:29the season, this is a big thing for Shuck too.
17:32It just cannot possibly repeat itself. It was a dead Panthers defense, a dead Jets defense, a dead Falcons defense.
17:38And then one other, like it was literally like the five of the worst defenses in the NFL they're matching up against.
17:44So if you care about that and you think that factors in because you're worried about, you know, we're saying he was
17:50wide receiver six, but it's over a very small sample size, sample size included four games against the worst defense in the NFL.
17:57Then that is something you should factor into why you wouldn't want to draft a Meyer.
18:01Yeah. Great point. And there's also a lot of great players around him.
18:05I was about to say, I mean, there's so many guys, what are you gonna do?
18:09You'll put ahead of CD lamb and George Pickens.
18:12He was better than was better than lamb last year.
18:15All right. Let's take a break. Thank you very much for the email, Nick.
18:19Oh, wait, wait. Let Eric guess. What's the ad?
18:21What is it? The ad. That's our new game.
18:24I guess the ad. Pretty soon we're gonna have live reads from Dan on here too.
18:28We did last week. Oh, we did. That's right.
18:31Yeah. No, this is this. My Z Biotics finally made the show.

19:37Coming from South Florida, it was such a change of pace.
19:40We spent our days exploring Glacier National Park, taking in the incredible mountain views, spotting wildlife, and doing some easy hikes to waterfalls and scenic overlooks.
19:47It was amazing being surrounded by mountains and cooler weather, something we just don't get at home.
19:52We also checked out some local restaurants, tried a few Montana favorites like Huckleberry desserts, and really enjoyed slowing down and spending quality time together.
19:59But while we were off exploring somewhere new, our home was just sitting empty.
20:03That's when I realized while we're away, we could list our space on Airbnb.
20:07It feels like a smart and practical way to bring in some extra cash, especially when there is a high demand in

21:34And we are back. Okay, this one is from...
21:36I have no name here. Jamie, this is a quick one here.
21:39Hey, Buzz, Woody, and Rex. Oh, please tell me you know that, Dan.
21:43Obviously Toy Story. Yeah, Toy Story. Minions? I'm kidding.
21:46Okay. One of the few movies I've ever seen.
21:48What do you think of pairing the Carolina backfield?
21:51I've been seeing Brooks and Hubbard going rounds eight and nine and ended up with both of them in a couple mocks.
21:57Yeah, you know, that's the spot to, you know, take a chance on two players from the same backfield that we just
22:03don't have any idea of how it's all going to look.
22:06I think you could make it, it's a little bit earlier, but the Steelers backfield, you can do it with the Commanders backfield.
22:13You can do it with... I'm trying to think there's any others.
22:16You could do it with the Vikings. Oh, the Vikings.
22:19Yeah, that's a good one. You can look at all those, you know, duos and just see how it shakes out early in the season.
22:26And I think in the case of the Panthers, like, both can end up being flex options for you, you know, with
22:32Brooks most likely the first and second down guy, and then Hubbard working in and rushing downs and also being the passing downs guy.
22:39But I think, like, the Commanders, you know, if their offensive line holds up and what Rashad White does in the passing
22:45game, you know, same thing with the Vikings guys and what they'll be able to do, I think, in tandem.
22:51It's very easy to take chances on those backfields, especially if you take two running backs early and then you're looking for your third.
22:58If that's your third and your fourth, it's not a bad way to go.
23:02Tim in Radford, Virginia is really upset because he's got an outstanding commissioner in every way, except his commissioner still uses non-decimal scoring.
23:08Ugh. Yeah, and that produces more ties. Ties are settled by bench points, which seem absurd.
23:13What? Yeah, ties settled by bench points, that's worse.
23:15I actually don't hate that. No, that's horrible. Why should players not worthy of starting status ever determine an outcome?
23:21Am I crazy to be so against non-decimal scoring?
23:23Is there a benefit I'm missing? And I don't know if you've seen this, but in our email system now, sometimes we
23:30get AI-generated responses that we can use. So AI would have said to Tim, you're definitely not crazy.
23:35Non-decimal scoring is brutal and definitely outdated. There's really no benefit to it.
23:38Decimal scoring is the only way to go to avoid those unnecessary ties.
23:42I am with you on this one. Yeah, there is no benefit to non-decimal scoring.
23:46So just it's a simple cut and dry case here.
23:49And the bench scoring thing, I mean, that's- To some degree, I'd argue that this commissioner is not that great because he's doing this.
23:56Here's an email from- What are the three qualities you look for to a good commissioner?
24:00That's like- It is the opposite of Adam Azer in the Big Burger League.
24:04Is that what we're looking at? You just reminded me of the scene from the movie Road Trip.
24:09Or how about collecting dues and paying out on time?
24:12Is that a key one? JB's paying dues. JB's paying payouts from 2023.
24:16How do you think I brought it up? I did the audacity.
24:19I finally got paid on the Superflex League. I won the audacity.
24:23He's like, do you want me to just roll it over?
24:26Roll it over? I mean, come on. I want to feel like I want something.
24:30I said, do you want to put your entry fee in for this year?
24:34I thought you said roll it over. No. I had this discussion with Jack in the office.
24:39We both were just stunned by that whole question.
24:41But it's okay. We love it. That was while you quoted me incorrectly.
24:45Exactly. I thought I heard roll it over. That's what he said.
24:48So I blame Jack. Okay. So this email is from anonymous and he says, hello, bearded Adam and burping Dan.
24:54I feel like we are severely underestimating the value of Mark Andrews this year.
24:58Declan Doyle was a tight ends coach before being an OC.
25:01He has a history at Iowa with Kittle and Hawkinson.
25:04He most recently worked with Ben Johnson who produced great seasons with Laporta and Loveland.
25:08Yeah. Are we, are we underestimating Mark Andrews? And he's related to Mike Ditka.
25:12Underrating him, it's hard to say. Like, you know, when you start to compare him to the tight ends that are going
25:18directly in front of him, which I think in ADP, he's still tight end 13 or 14.
25:23So he's in that range with Dalton Kincaid. I would take him ahead of Kincaid.
25:27But are you taking him ahead of Travis Kelsey?
25:30Are you taking him ahead of George Kittle? Are you taking him ahead of Isaiah Likely?
25:34Are you taking him ahead of Dallas Goddard? You know, I would say he's behind all those guys because he just came
25:41off one of his worst seasons, maybe his worst season ever since his rookie campaign.
25:45So really comes down to and, you know, just to tie in our draft-a-thon, we had that wonderful moment where Scott Fish pulled in two random people.
25:53I know some people like Dan thinks it was planted, but two random people at Universal Studios.
25:57And one of them asked about Jacoby Lane and, you know, can he score five touchdowns?
26:02I don't know what the over-under is. You were insane for even thinking that Jacoby Lane is scoring five touchdowns.
26:08You don't think Jacoby Lane can score five touchdowns?
26:10I think he could. I think if I were going to bet the over-under on four and a half touchdowns, I'm 100%
26:16taking the under on a rookie wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens scoring five touchdowns.
26:21But that's like his profile, though. But what I'm getting at is like that's the type of player that could ruin Mark
26:27Andrews because you need Andrews to kind of go back to what he was two years ago.
26:32You need him to be like Dallas Goddard. He's not going to still be an elite catch target yard guy.
26:37He's going to be a touchdown guy. And you need eight-plus touchdowns, I think, for him to crack the top 12.
26:43So I did a draft last week where I was picking on an end at the 12th spot.
26:48Whiffed on tight end. He was the best available option.
26:51I'm hoping he's going to score eight touchdowns. I'm hoping he's going to be the second guy in terms of targets for this team.
26:58But that could be all over the place because Bateman's had a strong camp.
27:02And again, Lane's going to be a factor here.
27:04So I know you're rooting for everybody. But I'm rooting for Mark Andrews.
27:08I hope he leads the team in targets. So I think he's just a good fallback option.
27:13I don't think he's somebody you should go and say, I have to target Mark Andrews.
27:17Well, the Ravens don't target Mark Andrews. He's played 17 games, two straight seasons.
27:21And he has 69 targets in 2024 and 70 targets in 2025.
27:25But I will say this to Anonymous. He just needs to get that target per route run rate up.
27:30And he needs to run more routes. But if he gets 90 targets, I think he's going to be really good.
27:36If he gets 70 targets, that's extremely difficult. And it's two straight years of full seasons with 70 targets.
27:41Yeah. That's tough. Now here's one from Tom in Minnesota.
27:44And he says, is David Njoku being completely overlooked as a potential tight end sleeper?
27:48He's not even ranked on CBS. He's tight end 30th on tight end 30 on fantasy pros.
27:53And yeah, all indications are Gadsden is not being seen as a starter.
27:57Charlie Kohler is. Yeah. Yeah. So now Njoku. Okay.
27:59You're not feeling it with Njoku. No, I mean, three tight ends.
28:03He'll probably rotate in with Gadsden and Kohler. Kohler getting the most.
28:06And then they'll run some 11 personnel stuff too because they have three good receivers.
28:10So no. I think Kohler's the guy if you're looking for like a really deep sleeper dart throw type of guy.
28:16Like it just sucks for Gadsden, you know, because he showed some promise last year.
28:21It sucks for Njoku who has had a, you know, good fantasy profile for us for the last five or six years.
28:27And both these guys, I don't think are going to get the opportunities that they're, they're used to getting and that we would like to see them get.
28:35So no. Sean Hellyer is in a slow draft and he has Christian McCaffrey.
28:39He wants to know if he should get Christian McCaffrey's handcuff and who that is.
28:43Based on last night, it looks like it's Kalen Black because he came in first.
28:47But Jordan James, who's missed time with injury and is now back after missing most of the training camp was right after him.
28:54And he looked good too. I thought I watched their tape because Jacob did a cup.
28:58I thought they both looked good. So I think it's anyone's guess.
29:02I think they went into this thing, wanting it to be Jordan James.
29:05My lean is now it's Kalen Black because Black has looked so good in the preseason and training camp and has proved to them.
29:12I can handle some of the receiving responsibilities. But we know for one thing, like at least from reading between the lines,
29:18Shanahan has mentioned that he doesn't want it to be like the situation it's been in the past where it's like I
29:24bring on the RB too and he's so one dimensional.
29:27They know we're running the ball. He wants someone who can catch and be a runner.
29:32And to me, based on their college profile, that's easily James.
29:35But if they feel comfortable given what Black has shown in camp in the preseason that he can be a receiving option,
29:41it's going to be Black, I think. I would guess that if McCaffrey gets hurt, it's both of them.
29:46Plus, you're going to get – I think this is one of those.
29:50They got so much flack for their draft night of Stribbling and Black.
29:54I know. They're going to try to prove us wrong.
29:57And they just would be the type of team that we're going to use Kalen Black, maybe in tandem with McCaffrey, not
30:03to the level that it's going to hurt McCaffrey that way.
30:06But we're going to put Black on the field.
30:08He's the first guy. Because they know James will handle the job if Black struggles in terms of being the second guy, right?
30:15They have, I think, enough faith in James that they can go to him.
30:19It's almost like when you draft to play a quarterback, we've got to play the veteran guy first because it's easier to go to the younger guy next.
30:27So draft capital, age favors James. He's actually younger than Kalen Black.
30:30He's 22. Black is 25. Draft capital, though, Black was a third-round pick.
30:34James was a fifth-round pick. So I would lean toward Kalen Black as well.
30:38I have a slightly different take than Dan on what we saw last night in the preseason game.
30:43Yes, Jordan James came in right after Kalen Black.
30:45But Kalen Black played each of the first two series and played, I think, every single snap.
30:50He did. And then his night was just over.
30:53And Kalen Black came in with the backup. And Jordan James came in with the backups.
30:57But then the second play of the game, I don't know if Kalen Black ran the route incorrectly.
31:02But he and Mac Jones weren't even close on a really short pass.
31:06And then later in the game, he got completely blown up in pass protection.
31:10So I didn't think it was that great of an outing for him.
31:14Not to say James would have done much better.
31:16James is a lot more explosive, I think, than Black.
31:19But, you know, I just... He is... Kalen Black last night was clearly ahead of Jordan James.
31:24Was that because James is ramping up? Because of the injury?
31:27That could be... And I just remember two years ago when McCaffrey played four games, I think we felt like it was
31:33going to be a split there as well. I remember...
31:36You know, I don't remember exactly what we said.
31:39But I remember that being said on the show.
31:41And it wasn't. It was Jordan Mason as a workhorse who had almost no involvement in the passing game.
31:47But he was getting... He was probably getting like...
31:49He was on pace for over 300 carries. So...
31:52That was also, though, Garendo's rookie season. And then he took over after Mason got hurt.
31:56Yeah. But it's Kalen Black's rookie season. But yeah.
31:59All right. Anyway... And Garendo, for what it's worth, could still be a factor too.
32:03He's on the pup list with a chest injury.
32:05Right. If he's healthy at any point, then it could be two or three guys.
32:10All right. Well, that's all the emails I have.
32:12Except for, of course... The Fantasy Cops! Here we go.
32:15Wait. Stop it now. Stop it. Yeah. Now both of you do your impressions.
32:19Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like I'm still closer.
32:22That's how bad my hearing is. Jamie, come on.
32:25Who's closer? Huh? Who's closer? Oh, it's you by the way.
32:28Thank you. Wow. Wow. I mean, I am tone deaf and now I know.
32:32I thought, I always thought I lived my life thinking I was tone deaf.
32:36Now I know for sure that I am. Yeah.
32:38You said... I think it's Dan. What? Wow. Let's go, Thomas.
32:42Oh my gosh. Adam is way better. Adam wins.
32:44Adam... No chance. It's Dan. No chance. Thank you.
32:47Oh, wow, Sam. You're not... Dan, you are not the only tone deaf person on the podcast.
32:51Congratulations. You and Jeff have a lot in common.
32:54You guys are so... Thomas and Dan were bonding there for a little bit.
32:58You guys are the biggest shoobies I've ever met.
33:01All right. Here we go. This is from Sean.
33:0316-team keeper league. Four divisions. The top two teams from each division make the playoffs regardless of record.
33:08And we can keep three different player positions and team owners can also trade future year draft picks for players and the trade deadlines week eight.
33:15So I started out two and five. My season looked bleak.
33:19So I traded a few of my top players to the top two teams in my division.
33:23And I got both of their first round picks and a third round pick.
33:27My thoughts were fire sale for my team this year, meaning 2025, and extra picks for 2026.
33:32And that would not only help me, but hurt my division opponents because they don't have their first round picks.
33:38But here's the problem. The league commissioner announces to the league after the week eight trade deadline that next year, 2026, we're
33:44going to shuffle the teams and create new divisions.
33:47There was no vote for this. I immediately contacted him and said that I, and I assume others, have made trades in
33:53their division this year with the purpose of having an advantage next year.
33:56And I went on and explained in detail why I made decisions and why I felt deciding to shuffle the divisions now
34:03was a bad idea and not really fair, especially mid season and after the trade deadline.
34:07He didn't care. He said he made the decision and it was final.
34:11He said, if I don't like it, I don't have to play next year.
34:15I then tried to explain how I was more or less forfeiting in 2025 a $250 league fee.
34:20And that was all for the purpose of setting up for next year.
34:24So then he booted me from the league immediately and kept my league fee, refused to respond or take any of my calls.
34:30Was the commissioner out of line even before he kicked me out?
34:33Was I right in my thought that he should have had a league vote before the season starts and make the change after the season?
34:41Would love your thoughts. First of all, I want to start by saying I'm angry at Frank in the chat.
34:46Now is Dan, the commissioner league? Yes, I would never do anything like this in my life.
34:51And I've been commissioner of multiple leagues, including my home league, which is going into year 20.
34:56Will I kick someone out for inactivity or poor play and making horrible trades?
35:00Maybe, but not in this regard. I won't just kick someone out because he doesn't agree with a ruling I made.
35:06And this is a terrible decision by the commissioner.
35:08You have to you can't just rule on something without pulling the league when usually when you're going to make a big
35:14change like this, it has to be in effect the year after.
35:18That's usually how good commissioners do it. So, yeah, obviously this is terrible.
35:21I also don't really understand this, Adam and Jamie.
35:24Like, is this a friend league or is this just like it is or no?
35:28No, that's the same. Like, who does this? Because this doesn't happen in friend groups.
35:32You can't take somebody's money. He's a jerk. He's a jerk.
35:36Unless it's not a friend league. And it's just like this is like, oh, I met some guys online.
35:41I'm taking this 250 and I'm laughing to the bank.
35:44I don't know. He's a jerk. I mean, that's illegal.
35:47So, yeah, I think. Yeah, I'm confused, though. Didn't he say he made the decision after the week eight trade deadline?
35:53The commissioner. Yeah. Like, so this guy makes a trade tank, basically tanking this year, getting two first round picks next year,
35:59weakening his future opponents in the same. I got all that.
36:02And then after the trade deadline, the commissioner says, oh, we're reshuffling the divisions.
36:06You're not going to be in the same divisions.
36:08Crazy. Yeah, you can't do it. Right. But he's doing that for 2020.
36:12I just because you guys are saying he has to do it after the season.
36:16So he wasn't doing it after week eight for the rest of the 2025 season.
36:21He was doing it for 2026. Yeah. But if people are.
36:24I'm not saying he's right. I'm just trying to get the timeline.
36:27No, you're right. It didn't mean that it was after the trade deadline or before the next season started.
36:32He needed to do it farther enough in advance where no draft pick, you know, were.
36:37Well, I don't think that unless he was purposely trying to ruin this particular manager's situation.
36:41I don't know if that was the case. Like, we don't know.
36:45Like, it could be like, hey, I'm tired of the same divisions for the last 10 years.
36:50I think we should shake it up a little bit.
36:52Should put it to a vote, obviously. Can't just make that decision arbitrarily.
36:56But I don't know if like if this the personal email to us is just saying, oh, he's doing it to screw
37:02me over because I took draft picks away from other players in my division.
37:06Like that would be very crappy if that was the decision.
37:09Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to have to get rid of some of these fantasy cops to make time for some auction talk.
37:16So let's go. Never get rid of the fantasy.
37:18Don't get rid of cops. We'll do less. No, no, no, no, no.
37:22I'm not good. Oh, damn it. I forgot to play.
37:25Jamie, it's Friday afternoon right now. You know what tonight is?
37:28There's no way Dan knows what that's from. No idea.
37:31All right. What is that from? A movie called The Greatest Opening Scenes in Movie History.
37:35Yeah. The Last Boy Scout. The last what? Boy Scout.
37:38Dan, you will love it. There's never been a football scene where there's 45 defenders on the field.
37:43It's so crazy movie. All right. The question here is from KC.
37:46In a redraft league, we get to keep one keeper in the round they were drafted in the prior year.
37:52Our commissioner just announced that he's making a trade with another team.
37:55He's keeping Jameer Gibbs in round one, but he drafted James Cook in the third round, and now he's trading James Cook
38:02in exchange for Fab and a late round pick swap.
38:04But he isn't keeping James Cook. So technically, he isn't on the team.
38:08What do you guys think? Should you only be able to trade the person you're keeping?
38:13You should only be able to trade the person you're keeping.
38:16This is a cut and dry one. Okay. But then you don't have any keepers?
38:20No, you're trading your keeper for somebody else's keeper.
38:23But he was trading for Fab and a late round pick swap.
38:26I mean, unless that's something that's established. Like you can do obviously some different amendments to your keeper rules where you're going
38:32to keep two players until X date, and then it's down to one player if you want to make trades to do that.
38:39But I think if you're just in a one keeper league, it's got to be I'm keeping Gibbs, and I'm keeping Gibbs
38:45for a first round pick, but I want to get James Cook for a third round pick.
38:50So I'm going to trade Gibbs to get the first round pick back, and I'm going to get James Cook.
38:55So let's say like you have Gibbs and your pick 10, right?
38:59So I don't know. It doesn't make sense. But you get my point.
39:02Like you want to get a better pick in round one.
39:05Yeah. All right. That's it for the fantasy cops.
39:08We'll try to do more next show, but we've got to save some time for auction.
39:13I'm going to take a break and come back and tell you how to win your auction league.
39:18Let's see. What's the ad? What's the ad? What is it?
39:21What's the ad? I can't keep doing this. Come on.
39:24All right. We'll be right back. How much time do we spend on this podcast talking about value?
39:29Value is everything in fantasy, and that's not a bad way to think about health care too.
39:33If you're someone who feels like you're paying too much for health insurance or just don't love the value you're getting, you should know about We Share Health.
39:41We Share Health is a nonprofit alternative to health insurance, and their members pay up to 60% less than they would for traditional health insurance.
39:48Members have access to a nationwide PPO network with over 1 million physicians.
39:52In fact, there's a good chance your doctors are already in it.
39:55And how does unlimited telehealth sound? Pretty good value, right?
39:58If you're between jobs or self-employed, this could save you thousands of dollars a year.
40:03If this sounds interesting to you, take a few minutes to check it out.
40:07Call 1-888-WE-SHARE for a free quote. That's 1-888-WE-SHARE. Or check them out at WeShareHealth.org.
40:10Hey, before we jump back into the show, let's take a quick break.
40:14But not just any break. This is a refreshing break with Snapple.
40:18We all know about Snapple's iconic real facts. So let's take a minute to go over some of my faves.
40:23Snapple Real Fact 1-9-8-3. The first player drafted to play pro football never played in the league.
40:28Snapple Real Fact 1-1-1-9. The Grand Canyon could hold about 900 trillion footballs.
40:32Snapple Real Fact 2-0-6-4. The first college football game broadcast on TV was on September 30th, 1939.
40:36Snapple Real Fact 1-8-9-6. The tradition of playing football on Thanksgiving originated with college football in 1876.
40:41So grab a Snapple, take a second, and enjoy the moment.
40:44Because let's be honest, this might be the most refreshing part of your day.
40:48Snapple, make your break more interesting. All right, now let's get back to the show.
40:53How to win your auction drafts, your auction leagues.
40:55Auctions are the most fair way to draft. Everyone's got an opportunity to get every player in the player pool.
41:01Real quick, why don't we talk more about auctions?
41:03I think it's very difficult. I think every auction is so unpredictable and has a life of its own.
41:09You're doing a snake draft. You're going to have a pretty good idea of who's going to be available to you at different points in the draft.
41:16Auction is tough. They just are their own living, breathing thing, it seems.
41:20And yeah, it's hard to do a lot of content around it.
41:23But they are super fun. We got this comment earlier in the show that says, Dan gets no credit on this show for anything.
41:30I think that was after his pretty horrible Fantasy Cops rendition.
41:33But he should get a lot of credit for his auction advice.
41:37So what are some tips you want to give right out of the gate, Dan, for winning your auction?
41:42We do this show every year, literally around this exact time on the mailbag.
41:46So I don't want to repeat any of the tips yet.
41:49I want to start with something new I haven't talked about on the show, which I think gives you a really good opportunity to build out everything.
41:57So first thing you can do, and this is for people who are playing in repeat auction leagues.
42:02I think that'll be the majority of the people listening and wanting advice.
42:05Look at last year's auction results, go player by player, and fill out by your rankings.
42:10And I'm sure you have rankings, or I hope by this point you have rankings, if not create rankings.
42:15Fill out what, let's say, the QB1 went for last year, what the QB2 went for last year, QB3 and down.
42:21What the RB1, RB2, RB3. Fill them out, the pricing from last year, and then build out your entire draft board and your auction strategy based on that.
42:29This is the best way that I've learned how to play auctions.
42:33So I'll know, if I like a lot of the receivers in that Waddle range, that Waddle-Abuca range, well, they went for
42:3913, 14 last year, and I could build them out, start placing them wide receiver two, wide receiver one.
42:44And then you get a feel for how you want to build your auction out.
42:48And in a sense, you can have multiple builds.
42:51So I'll do that for one build. Then I'll do another build.
42:54This is the build if I buy Bowers. This is the build if I buy whatever it may be, buy Gibbs or whoever it may be.
43:02And you come up with eight or nine different strategies on a separate sheet in Google Sheets, all based on your projected salaries for the wide receiver two.
43:10And use ADP. Do not use your rankings to rank it down.
43:13Use the most updated ADP. This will give you a great sense and feel for how to build your roster out, what you can do.
43:20And it'll stop you from doing things like overexposing yourself early in an auction and then panicking and having to kind of like reel off a strategy mid-draft.
43:28Because what that could lead to at times is you ending up with money at the end of your auction, which is
43:34the worst possible scenario, or you just having no way to recover at the end of your auction.
43:39If you build it out in a certain way and you create eight to nine or ten multiple builds, it will give
43:45you all sorts of contingency plans to create a great draft and not be left over with money at the end.
43:51Okay. That's really good advice. Do you really do all that?
43:54I do all that by hand. I'm sure there's an AI way to do this, which sucks, but I kind of enjoy it, though.
44:01It's kind of fun to look back at last year's results and be like, this guy went for this, and then find your values that you like, right?
44:09Yeah. And I would just say, if this sounds intimidating to you, you don't have to do it.
44:14Dan loves it, right? And I think a lot of people do.
44:18I remember when we were kids, I would handwrite all of my rankings and cross it out as I crossed everybody off
44:24the list as we were doing drafts, and I enjoyed that.
44:27I don't do it anymore because it would be pointless, but you don't have to do all that work.
44:32I really don't do any preparation going into my auction.
44:35I'm playing in a somewhat casual league, my auction league.
44:38I would do more prep if I were playing against Dan and Jamie and all that, but you don't have to do everything Dan said.
44:45But that is really cool advice, really great advice.
44:48I think just one thing maybe to modify it to make it simpler for people that aren't as into it as Dan
44:54is, like you can just, the second part of it, I think once you go through the cost of the players from
45:00last year, you just kind of tie that into tiers.
45:03Like I would get rid of the ADP part of that.
45:06I would just tie it into whatever tiers like you look at.
45:09So if you tier players yourself, if you use a tier system that other people use, that's I think just an easier
45:16way to sort of marry the two things. So like if you want to see what the players went for last year,
45:22and then you just start to tier those guys.
45:24So knowing that, okay, that waddle group that Dan referenced, like there's six players in that tier that I like.
45:30So I know I'm going to try and get one of those guys.
45:34And that's kind of a neat, I think just easier way to sort of make it happen for you.
45:39And one thing I see in the chat. Yeah, sorry, go ahead.
45:42No, no, no. If you want to keep going, go for it.
45:46I was going to say one thing I see in the chat, which I think some people do like to do, and
45:52that's why there are such things as bidding wars and auctions.
45:55Someone said there have to be players you're willing to go higher on.
45:59I actually find that my best teams and all of my championship teams are the teams where I draft players in my
46:05auction that I didn't go in wanting. It's that I drafted them that I looked at my tiers, I have my tiered
46:11rankings, and this guy's for some reason going for $12 in a range of $18 guys.
46:16I didn't like him, but I went for him because of the value.
46:19And then if you continuously do that throughout an auction, you end up having a better chance to win, in my opinion,
46:26by letting the board fall to you. That's the beauty of the auction to me.
46:30It's that you can let the board fall to you.
46:33Top two or three tier and then live in sort of like a middle tier for all these guys.
46:38So it's almost like you're getting one sort of superstar or one borderline superstar at a running back, a wide receiver spot.
46:44I think the onesie positions are easy to target in auctions unless you're going for the top two or three guys.
46:50So if you love Laporta, Warren, Kraft, likely, just as it goes down, you'll be able to get those guys a lot cheaper than you think.
46:58If you love Dak and Lawrence and Caleb and all those quarterbacks, you'll get them much cheaper than you think.
47:03You let other people spend for Josh Allen and Brock Bowers and McBride unless you just really want those guys.
47:09Because if those guys are nominated early, people get a little too overexcited and they tend to spend more than they need to on those onesie spots.
47:16Yeah, I mean, that's definitely something I do. I'm actually trying to pull up my draft results from my auction last year.
47:23I can show you the team I put together.
47:25And the team, it wasn't great, I think, on draft night, but it doesn't end on draft night.
47:30So I like to get... Ooh, JSN for 11.
47:33That was a great pick. Nice. Good job. I tried...
47:36$100 or $200? $100. Nico for 21. I'll show you.
47:38I'll share the screen. But... Notepad. What's that? Notepad.
47:41It is true, though. Like, for me, like, after I have that all valued out, like, I don't use anything in my draft but my rankings.
47:48I just... I've always been a use-my-own-rankings kind of guy.
47:51I trust... I mean, I do this. I trust myself.
47:54So I think there are people who go a step further.
47:57If you want to take this even further, a couple of my friends have, like, Excel slash Google Sheets where it, like,
48:03adjusts based on the auction live and tells you where the values are going to be.
48:08You can take it a step further for sure.
48:10All right. So I will share... First, I'll share my three tips for winning your auction.
48:15Okay. And then I'll share the team I did last year, which I don't really think I followed my rules because it
48:21just probably didn't work out that way. Because you have to adjust.
48:25You can't just like... You do have to adjust, yes.
48:27All right. So let's... So my three tips for winning your auction.
48:31I try to get at least two great players.
48:33Now, easier said than done in a shallower league.
48:36I play at a 12-team auction, two running backs, two receivers, two flex, one quarterback, one tight end.
48:41It's a fairly normal size league. I try to get at least two great players.
48:45For me, that would be like two of the top 27, eight-ish, something like that.
48:49No, probably more like 25, 26-ish. But whatever it is for you, I want to get...
48:54There's no way I'm walking out without one unless it's just crazy prices.
48:58But I'd like to... So if you got Omari and Hampton and A.J.
49:01Brown, you'd be happy? I'd be very happy. Gotcha.
49:04Very happy. It doesn't have to be Jameer Gibbs and whatever, but I'd be very happy with that.
49:09I've always find the value... Anyway, before you go on, how much of your budget do you allot for those two players?
49:15So if it's... It changes if it's Gibbs, Bijan, and...
49:18Let's go anywhere from player 10 overall through 28 overall, whatever your number is.
49:22More like 25, 26. Tell me what you think.
49:24I think 50%. 45 to 55%, somewhere like that, depending on how things are going.
49:29When you said that, my number was 40%. 40?
49:31Yeah. Okay. First of all, if I get two great players, I'm probably a $1 or $2 quarterback guy.
49:37And I might be a $1 or $2 tight end guy.
49:40Yeah. And this is all of a $100 budget.
49:42And if you do that, then you can really spend up on two or more players.
49:47But I think the value in these drafts is usually the guys that are a little boring, like a DJ Moore or a David Montgomery.
49:54They could go for $4 late in your draft.
49:56No one's excited to nominate them. So they get nominated late.
49:59And not a lot of people have money at that point.
50:03I love to save money. I love to have money at the end.
50:06In a shallower league especially. You still have good players who are going to be nominated at the end.
50:12So I don't want to run out of money.
50:14I like to be a bully at the end and take all the guys I want.
50:19Yeah. I'm going to show you who I did that with last year.
50:22It was, sorry, I'm going to get rid of this.
50:25It was, of course, Isaiah Pacheco. I was so excited about it.
50:29I had $12 left. I remember it was my last player.
50:32He's like a $3 or $4 player, $5 player, whatever.
50:34I spent $12 on him just to get him.
50:37But yeah, I love to have money at the end because in that league, Tony Pollard for nine, that's probably a reach.
50:43That's probably late draft too. Yeah, go ahead. I mean, not to be like a Debbie Downer, Adam, but to me, I
50:49would consider that a poorly managed option. I was going to say the same thing.
50:54Well, okay. I understand that wasn't ideal, but I had Trevor Lawrence for one and Tyler Warren for two.
50:59Right. But if you took that $13 that you spent on Christian Kirk and Isaiah Pacheco and instead got two really good $7 players, $6 players.
51:06Look, man, there's always going to be in auctions.
51:09There's always going to be in retrospect that could have spent differently.
51:12This wasn't the best auction I did, but I got JSN for 11.
51:16I got Hampton for 15. Those were good values.
51:19And Trevor Lawrence for one and Tyler Warren for two were great values.
51:22And you don't have to- Hey, moment, I'll take this off the screen.
51:26This is not a great- Well, it's just not a great auction.
51:29I mean, some of the players you have here- Hey, look, it happens, man.
51:33I mean, we were excited about RJ Harvey last year, right?
51:36We were- Yes. And then the thing is like, you go back- I just see Caleb Johnson and Joe Mixon and it makes me squeamish.
51:43I know, right? But you never know when I pick them.
51:47Sometimes you have a lot of money left at the end of the draft and you just spend it because you have the money.
51:53But all right, that's how I approach it. I like to get two great players.
51:58I usually don't spend up on quarterback and tight end in an auction.
52:01And I like to have money left over at the end so I can get the values for those mid-round guys that
52:07are like, you know, somewhere between 40 and 60 in the rankings and just kind of slip through the cracks.
52:13So that's the end of my auction spiel. So to kind of piggyback off that, I think if you're of that mindset
52:19that you want to get those mid-tier players later, you should be nominating the high-end guys that you don't like almost every time.
52:26Let other people fight for those players. You know, so it could be, hey, I'm not spending on Jameer Gibbs.
52:31I want two people to go spend 50% of their budget on one guy and then I'm going to hope to do the same thing on B.
52:39John Robinson and I just know that I'm not going to get one of those guys.
52:44You could easily be one of the other players.
52:46You know, Dan used a phrase, which a lot of people will know, studs and duds.
52:51You want to go get one of those high-end players.
52:53Then by all means, go be that manager. There's nothing wrong with it.
52:57But if you know you want to live in the mid-tier and get a lot of those players and just have a
53:03balanced roster with a couple of guys like Adam said, let people fight for those high-end players and then early nominate the
53:10buzzworthy guys if you're not in on them. So like, for example, you'd want to say, hey, Marshawn Lloyd.
53:15Hey, Mike Washington Jr. Hey, Dejan Stripling. Those guys in most auctions, if you're just looking, or most drafts would be dollar and $2 players.
53:22You may get somebody spending $5 or $6 on those players or whatever your budget may be, $150, $200.
53:27I'm going on a $100 budget. Let those people spend money that should not be spent.
53:32And then you're getting somebody, hopefully, of a similar caliber that you like.
53:36For example, if I like Jalen Coker and I want somebody else to go get Dejan Stripling because everybody's talking about him
53:42or Casey Concepcion or one of those players, hey, bid up that, let that player go out early, spend the money early
53:48because everybody sits down at their auction, chomping at the bit.
53:51They're ready to go, ready to spend money. Be patient.
53:54Be patient. People are looking at my team and saying it was terrible.
53:58There's no way I did well. I was one of the highest scorers in the league.
54:02I lost in the semifinals and I led the league in scoring seven times that season.
54:07That's crazy, given how bad that roster looked. Yeah, no one else did it more than twice.
54:11I would say- This is your softball league, right?
54:14Yeah, by the end of the year, I had the best team without question.
54:18I just didn't win the championship. The second best team.
54:21So just so everybody understands, the thing about your softball team is if you finish in the top four in the fantasy
54:27league, they keep you on the team the next year no matter how bad you are as a player.
54:32The thing that you should understand is that your season's never over after your draft, whether it's an auction or a draft or whatever.
54:39Rico Dowdle was huge for me in that league, for example.
54:42Okay, anyway, yeah, Jamie makes a great point about nominating.
54:45Yeah, like what do you do? Let's say your guy is Dijon Stripling.
54:49Like you just have to have him. What's your approach with Dijon Stripling?
54:52Do you try to throw him out right away for $2 out of 100?
54:56No, of course not. Yeah. You try to throw him out for $1 and see if you get him?
55:02You don't throw him out early. The general rule with these auctions is do not nominate players you want to draft.
55:08There's just no value. Now, it's not always the case.
55:10There are some times you're right where you need to.
55:13There's never really a sneak through early in drafts when people have money, but there are times where you need to nominate
55:20a player you want toward the end of an auction.
55:22And what I mean by that is if your whole strategy was, I'm waiting for Kyler Murray.
55:27I'm just going to use an example. Kyler Murray at quarterback, and this is more super flex.
55:32Again, in these one QB auctions, which I don't do any of, it's just like, whatever, at this stupid...
55:37It really turns the quarterback position into a joke, even though I kind of feel like snakes do at this point, too.
55:44Just give you a strategy. But there are times at the end of a draft where it's like Murray or whatever, you're waiting on him.
55:51And you actually have to nominate those players early because if you're waiting and other people are waiting, you're now not bidding
55:57on all these other players who are being brought up before him because you're like, no, no, I'm going to get this.
56:03And then there's a bidding war with that, and you've just totally screwed yourself because other people were waiting on that last player.
56:10So toward the end of the auction is when I start nominating.
56:13But as far as early in an auction, if you have a sleeper like Stripling, do not nominate him.
56:18The key with auctions is never lock into certain players.
56:21That's really what the auction is all about. If you want to build out a great team, if you want to just
56:27get your guys, that's another way to play auction.
56:30Just, I want these guys on my team. I'll bid whatever it takes.
56:34And you could maybe win that way if you're very good that you're predicting who's going to break out.
56:39You will win that way, but you're certainly not getting value from that standpoint.
56:43I definitely would not do it early. I think if you're going to go with that mindset of, I got to get Stripling.
56:49I got to get Washington. I got to get Lloyd.
56:52I got to get whoever, you know? So like, I know for you, I'm just using example.
56:57I know for you, like Pacheco was somebody in the early part of this before he got injured.
57:02So you have to just assign a little bit of a dollar value to it.
57:06You know, so let's say like Dave, for example, he loves Jonah Coleman.
57:10He loves Concepcion. He loves Golden, right? Those are three of his favorite sleepers.
57:14If he knows like, I want to get those guys, I'm probably looking at them in a hundred dollar budget as $1 players.
57:20Maybe Concepcion was a $2 player and maybe Golden.
57:23Like I'll double that, but that's as high as I'll go.
57:26So if I'm late in the auction part of the process, I'll spend $2 on Coleman.
57:31But okay, if I lose him, I lose him.
57:33I'll spend $4 on Concepcion. But I can't go in with the mindset, like Dan said, you can't just hyper focus on somebody, especially early.
57:40Like in your case, you had $12 left for Pacheco.
57:43Okay, you know you can spend the most because you're playing bully ball at that point.
57:48That's totally fine, right? I want that guy so badly, I'm going to spend as much as I have to because everybody's
57:54now in dollar bids or $2 bids or whatever.
57:56You know, you're bidding against yourself. But in the case of doing it early, you're going to find like, oh, that's the guy everybody wants.
58:03So now a $2 guy is probably a $6 guy.
58:06And while that doesn't really hurt your budget, it also throws things off a little bit.
58:11Yeah, another point though is that Pacheco last year, look, obviously I liked him a lot and he was one of the worst draft picks I've ever made.
58:19But he was something like a sixth-ish round pick, right?
58:21Like he was a quality player, like deserved to be drafted.
58:25And he was available like three hours into the auction.
58:27Yeah. So just, that's always, if you're not familiar with it, there are a number of players.
58:32But that will fall through the cracks in auctions.
58:35That's Dan's point though. It's like, if you nominated him early, he's probably going for $7 or $8, which is, at that
58:41point, sixth round pick, that's around the value of it.
58:44You spent all your money at the end, right?
58:46That was your last. Yeah, that was my last.
58:49I had $12 left and I just spent it all.
58:52So what, if you could recall, what were you bidding against?
58:55$4 for somebody, maybe $5 for somebody? Can't remember.
58:57But that range, right? $4 for, you mean for Pacheco?
59:00No, no, no. The other people in your league were down to like $4 or $5 left.
59:05Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right, so you could have still got him for the same cost.
59:09Had you done that earlier, he might have been a player that slips through the cracks.
59:14Also, you might have had to spend $7 or $8 at that point, which would have just changed your whole philosophy.
59:20Yeah, right, right. Exactly. Okay, so no, fair enough.
59:22Um, now tiers, I think are super important in auctions.
59:25Jamie talked about that, but let's say, uh, let's take the top 11 running backs.
59:30I'm going to kick Chinty out of that group and say there are those 11 running backs right now.
59:35Um, and you, you, Jamie, you, you want to get one of them, right?
59:39Let's say that's, that's your goal. Um, what is like, do you not want to be the, do you not want to
59:45be bidding when there's only one left? Do you want to try to get in there before the tier ends?
59:51Yes. So I would just go with the idea, the mindset of, and you talk yourself into this however you want.
59:57Do you want to be in on, I'll say the top four guys, because I think those are going to be pretty
60:03locked in of Gibbs, Bijan, Taylor, McCaffrey. So if you want to be in, and there's a definite sliding scale with those
60:09two, but those four, if you want to be in on those guys, then just make the commitment that you know, you're
60:15gonna have to spend probably close to half your budget for either of the top two and maybe 40% for the next
60:21two guys or 35, 30 to 35% for the next two guys.
60:25I would probably look at it because this is the way I would approach it.
60:29I want to be in on Chase Brown, Ken Walker, Hampton, Barkley, Henry, again, sliding scale, A-chan, sliding scale.
60:34And so once I see how the, you know, the nominees are going, the nominations are going, I'll probably throw in Gibbs
60:41or throw in Bijon if it comes to me, let somebody else again spend money on that.
60:45And then after two or three of them are off the board, just knowing that they're in the same tier for me, then I'll start to jump in.
60:53I don't want to be in your scenario where I'm fighting for somebody and spending more than I have to because now
61:00two of us are trying to get one of the last players in that tier.
61:04Jamie has a great strategy for DSTs and kickers.
61:06He nominates them early in the draft for $1, the ones he wants.
61:10If someone goes for $2 on those kickers or DSTs, he says you can have them.
61:15It's a win. This is an easy way to get the DST and the kicker you want is just to nominate them
61:21for $1 and, you know, just get them. And if someone takes them, someone spends more than that, then that's on them.
61:27By the way, Clint Kubiak, somebody mentioned in the chat, I didn't even see it, but Clint Kubiak did talk about Ashton
61:33Gentry today and said, kind of seems like he's going to play week one based on what he said, but we're going
61:39to, we're going to, got another week to assess how he's going to look going into his first game, but we're counting
61:46on him, I think is what he said. So there's a good chance that Gentry plays early in the season.
61:51Good chance Jeremiah Love plays early in the season.
61:54We just don't know how healthy they'll be. Um, I think we already said it, but nominate players that you don't want
62:00that you think will go for a lot of money just to get some money off the board.
62:05Like, I'm not a Josh Allen guy. I'll nominate Josh Allen and someone's going to go spend a bunch of money on
62:11him and that's going to help me down the line.
62:14Uh, anything else, Dan? Yeah, I have a bunch of little tips we won't get to.
62:19There's not enough time. I'll just give my main most important rule because I do think it's the most important because I
62:25would say 30 to 40% feel the opposite way on this and it's a tried and true.
62:30Every 100% of people should be thinking this way.
62:32Do not ever price enforce in auctions. There is, it is a horrific strategy to bid an amount on a player that
62:38you are not comfortable winning on and I understand the upside of it.
62:42I understand why people want to do it. They're like, I spent 48 on this running back.
62:47I want this guy to go to for 45 so my buy looks better or whatever it may be.
62:52This is how you can blow up an entire draft by doing this.
62:56I've had twice in my home league when we used to be a one QB league, the bid, the team that bid,
63:02that won the number one quarterback threw out the second quarterback for a price and heard crickets.
63:07$20 starting bid, going once, going twice, sold. Now you're in a one QB league and you've spent all your money, a
63:13lot, good chunk of your money on a QB one and QB two.
63:17Do not ever price enforce. It's a terrible strategy.
63:19It is not good. The upside does not outweigh the downside and it's not even close.
63:24Okay. Okay. Is it excellent? Anything else? Well, that's the main rule.
63:27A bunch of that you've hit on. I've said another thing to consider is while you do want to always bid on
63:34players that you don't want to win, it's important also to keep in mind, like if you just bid on your, let's
63:40say you won Jameer Gibbs, for example, your next three, two or three nominations should be all of the next ranked running backs.
63:46You know, no matter what within your budget, you're not going to be able to buy two back.
63:51So anytime you feel within your budget, you can't spend on a certain type of player, nominate that player, get other people to spend on that player.
63:59Yeah, that's what I was talking. I'm not pricing, like if I don't want Josh Allen, I'm not nominating him for 20,
64:05I'm nominating him for one and I'm just letting everyone go out and spend whatever they want to spend.
64:11Jamie, anything else you want to add? One more thing.
64:13Before that, let me ask you about Gibbs. Jamie may have frozen a little bit here.
64:18How much for Gibbs and there he is. How much for those guys?
64:22Like what percent on your league? What percent of your budget?
64:25Okay, it's not, let's say it's not a super flex league.
64:28It's like a regular 12 team league. Depends on your league.
64:31I have both guys because, you know, our auction values are on the site.
64:35You can see them. They're based on $100 budget.
64:37I have Gibbs at 30 or 31 and Bijan at 30 or 29, you know, so basically 30%.
64:43Okay. I think I'd be more, I would know I'd be more aggressive than that, especially with Gibbs.
64:48Probably 35. And I feel like someone in your league is probably going to be there.
64:52May not be you, but someone will be. Again, Dan said the phrase, you know, so if you want to lock up
64:58the number one running back, the number one receiver, both on the same team, two top receivers, two top running backs, you can do that.
65:05You just have to know like the rest of your roster could be crappy or you just have to be extremely creative
65:12and hope you get some lottery ticket running backs, some good late round receivers.
65:16You're going to probably be a $1 quarterback guy and maybe a $1 tight end guy.
65:20So, you know, minimal depending on your budget. I just think you have to commit to that and understand that is your team.
65:27Those two players are your team going into it and then hopefully everything falls in place, waiver wire moves, maybe some trades.
65:33But for the rest of the auction, you know that you're getting players that have to have a lot of upside and getting them cheap.
65:40It's been a while since I've said this. I did a, we did a bold prediction show a few months ago and
65:46my bold prediction was that Jameer Gibbs would have, I think it was like the second best season by any running back
65:52in the last 10 years behind only Christian McCaffrey that one year where he averaged over 28 points, played a full season.
65:58Like Jameer Gibbs in the last two seasons, he's played 17 games in which he's had 15 or more carries and he's
66:05averaged about 25 fantasy points per game. And he's done that with David Montgomery.
66:09David Montgomery over the last three seasons has the second most goal line carries in the NFL.
66:13That guy is gone. He was their goal line back last year all three years.
66:18It's amazing the fantasy point potential for Jameer Gibbs.
66:20It's almost like you have to talk yourself out of it because it's like how could someone be that good?
66:26But if he gets 95, like 80% of the fantasy points that the running backs in Detroit score, he's going to be
66:32worth probably 40% of your budget if not more.
66:35I think that's fair. If those things happen, that's fair.
66:37But it's like you can't really bank on that.
66:40This is a dream season. It's just, that possibility is out there.
66:43He's so clearly the 1-1 to me though this year.
66:46We don't always have that feel. I think he's so clearly the 1-1.
66:50I love when I pick second and somebody takes Bichon.
66:53I couldn't imagine being in a league like that.
66:55I haven't seen it, but I couldn't know. I'd be happy.
66:58I was in an analyst draft that happened. I wasn't the two.
67:02I was the four. I was hoping he would slip.
67:05Wow. And that was the whole point of my Pacheco thing from a few months ago, which obviously doesn't apply anymore, but
67:11it's like I'd be willing to spend crazy money on Jameer Gibbs if I really liked his handcuff and could get his handcuff for one or two dollars.
67:19And then I just feel like, okay, if he got hurt and my whole team imploded, then I'd have someone there that
67:25I felt could do pretty well, but I don't feel that way anymore.
67:29I mean, you could do that pretty easily with your McCaffrey love.
67:32I don't think so because I just not really a kid.
67:35They don't know who it's going to be. Yeah.
67:38But that's a dollar that's well spent. I agree.
67:40Are you spending it on black and are you spending it on James?
67:44Now you have three rosters. No, but you just have to be very hyper aware of if McCaffrey gets hurt and to
67:50whatever extent he gets hurt, you're going to have black and then maybe you go get James as well just to see for the first couple weeks.
67:58It's not bad. Like, if we're talking $100 budget and you get McCaffrey for about $25 and black for $1, it's not
68:04that bad because I think the only risk we feel like with McCaffrey is injury.
68:08We know if he plays it's going to be really good.
68:11Yeah. I don't think he's going to completely stink.
68:14Dave made the case, I think it was on CBS Sports Network yesterday, that if he, or maybe it was on our
68:20show, that if he just has like the passing downs work regress to a point that you're just relying mostly on his rushing.
68:27I don't know if that's fair. If his passing downs, if his targets go away and he's, you know, not as reliant
68:33on his passing downs work, we could be looking at a 17, 18 point per game guy, which is still good, but more of a round two pick.
68:41I think the thing with McCaffrey, so I did this in a snake draft and it's obviously playing itself out right now
68:47is I drafted with three of my first four, five, four picks.
68:50McCaffrey, Ken Walker, and Marshawn Lloyd. And it's a deep enough bench where I took all three handcuffs.
68:55So I took Marshawn Lloyd, I took Emmett Johnson, and I took Kaelin Black.
68:59So, you can cover yourself in an auction the same way.
69:02It's, just know that instead of a dollar you may have to pay two, you know, by the time you do your,
69:09you're doing your auction next week, so maybe we have a little bit more clarity on who McCaffrey's backup is.
69:14You know, I think in the case of Jonathan Taylor, for example, who's, you know, in that range of guys or B.
69:20John Robinson, for example, you know, Brian Robinson and Seth McGowan, you know, those are dollar bids that you should be able to go through.
69:28So you're covering yourself in the event. They're not going to be the same player, but who else are you spending dollar
69:34bids on that could have top 20 upside? All right, folks, that's it for our auction show.
69:39Really good tips here. Obviously, we forgot the most important one, which is if you're doing a live in-person auction, you better nail the food.
69:46You got to have some really good food. You got to have some appetizers because it's going to be a while.
69:52It's so fun. It's really good. Would you go to like some pizza place or something?
69:56Yeah, I sure would. Dan would love it and then he'd hate it at 24 hours, five hours.
70:01No, it's not 24 hours. There's an immediate reaction.
70:04No, I said the second slice once cold was bad of the mushroom and the entire time the chicken parm slice was horrible from the start.
70:11Everyone agreed on that. it was bad. In addition to it digesting horrifically, just showing how bad the ingredients were.
70:17I have seen, by the way, at least two, I think three team names that are Dan's indigestion.
70:22Because of what I ate because pizza time, I don't have that normally.
70:25Again, we ate the same exact thing and basically the same quantity of the same exact thing and I was fine.
70:31Not really the same quantity, first of all. I had an extra slice of mushroom that you didn't have.
70:37No, I had too. I had a full slice of the chicken parm.
70:40You had like one bite and so it was disgusting.
70:43You didn't take a second bite. Am I right about that?
70:46Why would you eat a full slice of a bad slice?
70:49I was hungry, man. We were starving and you decided to take us to the work of a terrible pizza place.
70:55The next time we're all together, you guys are having an eating contest of some sort.
71:00The place has been around for 40 years. Kill him in an eating contest.
71:04This guy has no shot against me in an eating contest.
71:07Are you kidding? Dude, I have like 60 pounds on you.
71:10If you want to do your eating contest from the toilet, you might be able to beat me.
71:15What does that mean? You're going to barf or crap yourself at some point.
71:19If it's not crappy ingredient you-know-what time, I'm not going to barf and I won't say the full name of this disgusting establishment on the air.
71:26Shockingly enough, Jamie, he went back to it two days later.
71:30I would eat there every day. It's one of the best restaurants.
71:33You live in New York now where you get real pizza and you're still saying that.
71:37It's insane, dude. By the way, the initial one, it was hot.
71:41The mushroom was good. I said four Florida pizza.
71:43I never said overall. Oh, God. That story just keeps changing.
71:47No, it doesn't. You're putting words in my mouth.
71:49You and Nando should share a team. Just misquoting me all the time.
71:53All right. I'm down for an eating contest, no doubt.
71:56Actually, I don't think I can beat Dan. No, no.
71:58You guys have an eating contest. What he did with a cheesesteak and the sandwiches from the Mount Kisago Diner.
72:04I mean, it's like reckless. It's reckless. I feel bad for his body.
72:08All right. The burping was still, like it haunts me to this day.
72:11It was haunting to be in that position where I couldn't, it was crazy.
72:15I threw up in my mouth like six times on that stream.
72:19Oh, I'm sorry. The two of you mic'd up on a tennis court 50 feet from me.
72:24I'm sorry that I got confused. Why would you think it's me?
72:27Like that's so insulting. It was obviously Dan. That's so insulting.
