Amon-Ra St. Brown

PositiveValue35:51

Described as probably the safest player in the first round, getting a half-round discount in ADP. Only wide receiver in NFL history with three consecutive seasons of 115+ receptions, three consecutive seasons of 1,250+ receiving yards, three consecutive 10+ touchdown seasons, and 90+ catches in each of his first five NFL seasons. Represents elite consistency and floor play.

Insight page
NegativeBust43:35

The source groups Amonra St. Brown among elite wide receivers (alongside Puka Nacua and JSN) who may experience a drop-off in production, suggesting he is a potential bust candidate at his likely draft position.

Insight page

Ashton Jeanty

NegativeBust60:21

Bust candidate despite improved offensive scheme; snap percentage expected to decline as Raiders adopt more egalitarian backfield approach with Mike Washington Jr. receiving carries. Most critically, ESPN's Mike Clay projects the Raiders to have the most difficult strength of schedule for running backs in 2025, creating significant headwind for Jeanty's production.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeBust32:00

Thomas is classified as a straight-up bust from last season, implying poor production and/or underperformance relative to draft expectations.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

NegativeValue56:18

Falls into the same value bust category as Trey McBride; the source indicates Bowers could be slashed with McBride as a late second-round ADP concern. While elite talent, the draft cost is prohibitive relative to positional depth at tight end.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

NegativeProjection40:41

The source expresses concern about C.J. Stroud's ability to have adequate time in the pocket due to the Texans' offensive line issues, which impacts his ability to find receivers like Nico Collins downfield.

Insight page
NegativeProjection40:51

The source questions whether Stroud is as good as his rookie season suggested, noting that his play has felt like 'regression city ever since.' Concerns center on his ability to provide adequate pocket time for deep-ball threats like Nico Collins, and the source is skeptical of his overall quarterback play. The offensive line issues compound the problem, making it difficult for Stroud to execute the vertical passing game needed to support his receivers' fantasy value.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeProjection5:45

Ranked QB5 in total points last season but QB7 in points per game; 32nd in completion percentage (58%) and had four stiff weeks in 17 games, more than Drake Maye (one), Stafford, Purdy, and Jones (two each); inconsistency is the core concern despite talent. Bears schedule tougher this year than last, and he feasted on weaker opponents while struggling against formidable ones. The source notes the good version of Caleb is really good, but the bad version is not so good, making him less optimistic on his 2025 season.

Insight page
NegativeValue8:15

The source has Caleb Williams as QB15 in rankings, tied for lowest among ESPN rankers. The core value problem: he is the most expensive quarterback in a tier that includes Dart (two to three rounds later), Lawrence, Prescott, Nix, Purdy, Stafford, Herbert, and Mahomes. The source would rather wait four rounds and get Bo Nix, whom he projects higher than Caleb, making the premium price unjustifiable.

Insight page

CeeDee Lamb

NegativeBust43:43

The source groups CeeDee Lamb among elite wide receivers who may revert to form, suggesting he is a potential bust candidate if his production declines from recent levels.

Insight page

Chris Bell

PositiveInjury62:18

Expected to be ready to go after injury, suggesting he will resume his role in the Dolphins backfield and potentially limit opportunities for Jarquez Hunter.

Insight page

Christian McCaffrey

NegativeInjury32:48

McCaffrey is used as an example of a player whose injury history creates bust risk; if he gets hurt this year, it would feel like a real bust due to his recent injury history, making some analysts hesitant to draft him despite his talent.

Insight page
NegativeBust60:57

Flagged as bust candidate; the source notes he has been discussing McCaffrey as a bust all season and declines to repeat the case in this exercise, but acknowledges he clearly fits the bust profile.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

NegativeValue43:00

Used as a comparison point in the wide receiver depth discussion; ranked around wide receiver 34 but could reasonably perform at wide receiver 20 or better, illustrating the volatility and depth available in the wide receiver position beyond the top tier.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

NegativeMatchup34:00

Jones' effectiveness directly impacts Jonathan Taylor's fantasy value; Taylor averaged 12.2 PPG with Jones off the field vs. 24.8 PPG with Jones on the field in the final month-and-a-half of last season, showing significant variance based on QB availability.

Insight page

Davante Adams

NegativeBust61:07

Bust candidate as a top-20 wide receiver; the source prefers six to eight other wide receivers drafted behind Adams, citing better ceiling and upside potential. Adams is aging and the source favors more ascending talent. End zone targets that Adams received last year are expected to go to Terrence Ferguson and 2-2 Atwell, reducing his red zone opportunity.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeRole44:16

The Texans brought in David Montgomery to fill the running back role that Joe Mixon did not occupy last year. This addition may reduce target opportunities for Nico Collins, who benefited from the absence of a featured back.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

PositiveProjection34:30

Henry is referenced as the best pure runner in the NFL and a comparison point for Jonathan Taylor; he is less of a pass catcher than Taylor, making Taylor's receiving upside a distinguishing factor.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

NegativeProjection38:27

DK Metcalf was the last wide receiver to average at least 15 points per game with Geno Smith as QB, achieving this in 2021; the source notes that in Seattle's three-year window with Geno Smith, Metcalf was part of a receiving trio that included Tyler Lockett and Jalen Smith, with the receiving corps spreading targets around rather than concentrating on a single alpha.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeBust43:51

The source groups Drake London among wide receivers who may experience a production drop-off, suggesting he is a potential bust candidate at his likely draft position.

Insight page

Dylan Sampson

NegativeRole28:00

Sampson is a pass-catching change-of-pace back in the Browns backfield who will have a role on third down and in passing situations. He is not a rushing threat and will see time when the team is trailing significantly, potentially limiting Judkins' snap share in negative game scripts.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

NegativeBust36:54

Ranked as wide receiver 13 in ESPN consensus but source ranks him 14th due to Jekyll-and-Hyde inconsistency. In his career, he has only four games with 25+ fantasy points but 23 games under 10 fantasy points. Has nine weeks as a top-15 finisher but 17 weeks outside the top-30 entirely. Concerns about bad quarterback play (Geno Smith) and whether it improves this year.

Insight page
NegativeBust40:00

The source identifies Garrett Wilson as having bust potential, citing concerns about the Jets offense and Geno Smith's inability to support consistent wide receiver production; the source concedes this is a legitimate bust candidate despite Mike's disagreement.

Insight page

Geno Smith

NegativeProjection38:07

The source expresses low confidence in Geno Smith and the Jets offense compared to alternatives like Lamar Jackson and Baltimore; notes that the last wide receiver to average at least 15 points per game with Geno Smith as QB was DK Metcalf in 2021 (five years ago), and is concerned Smith will win fantasy managers two weeks but lose them five weeks this season.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeBust24:03

Hurts is identified as a potential bust due to declining efficiency across multiple metrics: fantasy PPG fell from 25 (four years ago) to 21.5 (two-three years ago) to 18.7 (last year); rushing efficiency declined; tush push efficiency dropped to under 63% last season. With A.J. Brown gone and the Eagles moving to a timing-and-rhythm passing offense (not his strength—career high 26 passing TDs), his ceiling is diminished. While he may still finish mid-range QB1 due to rushing upside, his ADP is too high given the risk of finishing outside top-10 QB.

Insight page

Jameson Williams

PositiveRole53:37

Has demonstrated ability to thrive in the Lions offense without Sam Laporta on the field; the source indicates the Lions have other options and may not need to force Laporta back, suggesting Williams could see increased opportunity if Laporta remains sidelined.

Insight page

Jarquez Hunter

NegativeRole62:18

Acquired by Dolphins in trade; the source notes Hunter was graded to go in the fourth round two years ago and went about where he was graded, suggesting fair value. The trade may have been hedged due to Chris Bell's injury, but Bell is expected to be ready to go, so Hunter's role may be limited.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

NegativeProjection9:30

Ranked QB2 but has a wide range of outcomes with a potentially low floor. Rookie season was outstanding (25 passing TDs, 6 rushing TDs, 891 rushing yards), but last year he appeared in only seven games due to injury and was less productive when healthy: 16.3 fantasy points per game (down from 20.9 in 2024) and paced for 675 rushing yards (down from 891). New play caller Cliff Kingsbury's fast-paced offense may not translate to more plays; supporting cast (Terry McLaurin, Stephon Diggs, Chico Coutinho) is solid but unproven; left tackle Armie Tunsell will miss significant time. Offensive line ranked very low by the source, and reports indicate the offense has been roughed up.

Insight page

Jaylen Smith

NegativeProjection38:24

Jalen Smith was part of Seattle's receiving trio with Geno Smith, alongside DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, contributing to a spread receiving corps during that three-year window.

Insight page

Joe Mixon

NegativeRole44:05

Joe Mixon did not exist for the Texans last year, creating a void in the backfield that the team addressed by bringing in David Montgomery. Nico Collins benefited from this absence, finishing as WR8 in total points, but the addition of Montgomery may reduce Collins' target share going forward.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

NegativeProjection34:00

Taylor is defended against bust concerns despite two consecutive seasons of ~370 touches. The source notes he is the second-best pure runner in the NFL (behind Derrick Henry), a prolific pass catcher (better than Henry), will lead in goal-to-go opportunities, and is only 27 with a couple good years left. Last year he led the NFL in carries and touchdowns, was second in carries inside the five, and had career highs in receiving categories (all top-10 at position). He is considered one of the safer second-half first-round picks despite wear-and-tear concerns.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

NegativeBust19:27

Jacobs is a primary bust pick at third-round ADP. Concerns include: recent misdemeanor charges with potential suspension; groin injury late last season followed by production collapse (11.3 PPG down the stretch); age 28 with only 12 instances of RBs 20+ finishing top-15 in last five seasons (16% hit rate); comparison to Dalvin Cook/Joe Mixon/Aaron Jones suggests decline phase. While a healthy, non-suspended Jacobs in a good offense could be borderline RB1, the combination of legal uncertainty, injury history, and age makes him very likely to bust at current ADP.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

NegativeBust31:15

Jefferson is classified as a bust from last season because he played all year but his output sucked; unlike Malik Nabors (who tore his ACL), Jefferson's poor performance was not due to injury but rather a decline in production, making him a true bust despite not being injured.

Insight page
NegativeBust43:35

The source groups Justin Jefferson among elite wide receivers (alongside Puka Nacua, JSN, and Amonra St. Brown) who may revert to form or experience a drop-off in production, suggesting he is a potential bust candidate at his likely draft position.

Insight page

Keaton Mitchell

PositiveRole18:15

Mitchell has elite big-play efficiency (18.2% of carries gaining 10+ yards, #1 in NFL since 2023) and embodies Mike McDaniel's speed-centric running back philosophy. At $5.5M/year, he will have a meaningful role; if Amari Hampton plays 62% vs. 72% of snaps, Mitchell could still finish RB13-RB17, limiting Hampton's ceiling.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeInjury31:40

Nabors is not classified as a true bust despite early underperformance because he tore his ACL in week four; the source distinguishes between injury-related underperformance and actual bust status, noting that Nabors' injury was bad luck rather than a reflection of his talent or draft value.

Insight page

MarShawn Lloyd

PositiveSleeper20:06

Lloyd is positioned as the preferred alternative to Josh Jacobs in the Packers backfield. He is described as looking the part, appearing healthy, and heading in the right direction, making him an attractive value pick.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeBust40:00

Daniel identifies Nico Collins as his bust wide receiver pick; Collins has spent time on injured reserve in three of his five seasons, missing at least four games each time, has never played a full healthy season, and is being drafted at the back end of the wide receiver one conversation; the source is concerned about the Texans' offensive line and C.J. Stroud's pocket time.

Insight page
NegativeBust40:51

Being drafted at the back end of wide receiver one despite injury history; has spent time on injured reserve in three of the last five seasons. The source is concerned about his bust potential because he requires deep-ball opportunities downfield, but C.J. Stroud's pocket presence and overall quarterback play are unreliable; Stroud has shown regression since his rookie season. Collins finished top 10 in fantasy points per game for three consecutive years and eighth in total points last year, but the source views him as a floor play with significant downside risk given the offensive line concerns and injury history, making him one of the biggest bust potentials at the position despite recent production.

Insight page
PositiveBust43:37

Collins finished as WR8 in total points and WR10 in points per game last year, but the source highlights significant volatility and floor concerns: six games with five or fewer catches, three straight games with exactly four catches, and seven weeks outside the top 25 at the position. Despite top-10 per-game efficiency, the source notes he failed to deliver on preseason expectations of graduating to a top-five wide receiver; the source had him ranked ninth overall in their preseason thinking but now views him as unlikely to reach spectacular production levels. With David Montgomery added to the Texans backfield (replacing Joe Mixon's absence), Collins faces reduced target opportunity.

Insight page

Puka Nacua

NegativeBust43:35

The source groups Puka Nacua among elite wide receivers (alongside JSN and Amonra St. Brown) who may experience a drop-off in production, suggesting he is a potential bust candidate at his likely draft position.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

PositiveBust17:33

Johnson is characterized as unreliable and boom-bust; the source notes he will have sporadic explosive plays (like his recent catch from Justin Herbert) but will be "useless" most weeks, sitting on the bench. His inconsistency makes him a poor draft target despite occasional highlight-reel moments.

Insight page

Quinshon Judkins

NegativeBust26:48

Judkins is a bust candidate due to playing on the worst offense among top-20 RBs; the Browns' passing game is poor, limiting touchdown equity. While he is a capable pass catcher (2.5 targets per game last year), Dylan Sampson provides competition as a pass-catching back. The offense's weakness means limited ceiling; if trailing significantly, he could be benched for Sampson. However, he is going in the fourth-fifth round (cheap), will likely lead the league in carries (20-25 per game), and is very young with elite rushing ability, making him a solid RB2 value despite the offense concerns.

Insight page

Sam LaPorta

NegativeInjury53:12

Entering the season with hip history and back injury concerns; recently flared hip injury following recovery from back injury. The source notes that if Laporta is unavailable, Jameson Williams has shown he can thrive in the Lions offense without him, and the team has other options, suggesting they may not force Laporta back prematurely.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeBust35:26

Led the NFL in carries and touchdowns with career highs across all receiving categories (all top 10 at position), but collapsed in final month and a half of season, dropping from 24.8 points per game with Daniel Jones to 12.9 points per game. At 27 years old, he still has a couple good years left but the dramatic mid-season decline raises bust concerns.

Insight page

Terrance Ferguson

PositiveRole61:54

Expected to receive the end zone targets that DeVante Adams had last year, indicating increased red zone opportunity and role expansion in the Dolphins offense.

Insight page

Trey McBride

PositiveValue55:46

Bust candidate not due to talent or production—McBride is elite and will maintain huge target share and potentially lead the Cardinals in receptions—but due to draft cost. Coming off the board at pick 21 overall (early third round) or sometimes mid-second round depending on league position. The source argues that at this price, the positional value is poor; other tight ends drafted later will score similarly, allowing drafters to allocate earlier picks to wide receiver or running back. Comparison: paying high-end boutique pricing for department store quality. McBride led NFL in catches and targets over last two seasons (second only to Jamar Chase), but his 12.5 PPG average with Kyler Murray last year jumped to 21.1 PPG with Brissette, who remains the Cardinals QB. Despite elite production, the source declines to pay the cost.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

NegativeBust54:06

Bust candidate due to multiple compounding factors: ACL tear mid-last season with uncertain return timeline (possibly week one); significant touchdown regression risk after two consecutive seasons of massive overperformance (7 TDs on 3 end zone targets in 2023; 6 TDs on 2 end zone targets in 2024, when expected was 1.8). Historical analysis shows tight ends with similar two-year TD overperformance stretches see significant regression in year three. Target volume spike in final two games before injury (10 targets each) coincided with injuries to Jaden Reed and Christian Watson, suggesting those elevated targets were circumstantial. Best four games (12+ fantasy points) came against Bengals, Cardinals, Steelers, and Commanders—the four worst defenses against tight ends—indicating matchup-dependent performance. Averaged 4.1 targets per game in 2024 and 4.2 in first five games of 2023, suggesting baseline volume is modest. Drafted in sixth round, making him one of the more expensive tight ends.

Insight page

Tyler Lockett

NegativeProjection38:59

Tyler Lockett was a top-16 fantasy receiver in 2021 when DK Metcalf averaged 15 points per game with Geno Smith; in the subsequent three-year window in Seattle, Lockett was top-15 in fantasy points two years ago, demonstrating that Seattle's receiving corps spread production across multiple receivers rather than concentrating on a single alpha.

Insight page

Woody Marks

NegativeRole44:14

The source takes a shot at Woody Marks in the context of the Texans' backfield, noting that the team lacked a featured running back last year (Joe Mixon did not exist for the team) and brought in David Montgomery to fill that void.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

PositiveBreakout37:36

Previously discussed as a potential breakout candidate a couple of years ago. Source has much more confidence in Flowers with Lamar Jackson and the new Baltimore offense compared to other wide receivers in similar ADP range, particularly those with Geno Smith as their quarterback.

Insight page
NegativeProjection43:50

The source compares Zay Flowers to Nico Collins as a floor play, noting that Flowers had a higher floor with more finishes in the 21-30 range and outside the top 30, while Collins had more top-10 and 11-20 finishes. This suggests Flowers offers more consistency but less ceiling than Collins.

0:00We all know Saturday's game time can get a little messy.
0:03Your crew came over to watch, snacks on the table, drinks in hand, and somebody celebrating like they just won the whole season and beyond.
0:09And when that energy gets going, your walls can end up taking the hit.
0:13Whether it's a big spill or a noticeable scuff, that's where Bayer Ultra Interior Paint comes in.
0:18It adds an extra durable stain-blocking finish that helps your walls hold up for the whole season.
0:22It also delivers outstanding coverage and hide in fewer coats with easy application.
0:26and a smooth, even finish that goes on clean from the first pass.
0:29Plus, that easy, clean finish helps walls stay looking new longer.
0:32So before the next kickoff, give your space, game-ready defense and coverage that goes the distance.
0:36Bayer Ultra, only at the Home Depot. All right, welcome to Fantasy Focus Football.
0:40I feel weird right now because I'm Field Yates and not Daniel Dopp.
0:43He's Mike Clay and we are awaiting Daniel's arrival.
0:46A little bit of a travel situation has impacted his commute to work here, Mike.
0:50So you and I are going to be holding down the fort.
0:53Can you really tolerate me all by myself for an hour straight?
0:56I'm going to try. We're also sitting closer to each other.
0:59Usually, I feel like I'm far away when I'm in that seat, but right here, we're just like right here.
1:04I can reach you. Yeah, stay away, will you?
1:06The last thing is that, at least for that shot that opened up the show, for those that are watching right now,
1:12Mike and I are staring into cameras, despite the fact that if I put my left hand out, you can see him.
1:18So I don't quite know what to do with my hands.
1:21I don't know which way to work. I'm just going to let the camera find me and we're going to roll here.
1:27We have a huge show today, Mike. One of the biggest words in fantasy football, especially during the preseason, is bust, right?
1:33We are covering bust today in fantasy football. This is a tough exercise.
1:36Say again? This is a tough exercise. Yes, yes it is.
1:39And we talked yesterday about our guardrails, which were top 10 quarterbacks.
1:42Yes. You said, hey, like top 10 quarterbacks or good judgment, top 20 running backs slash good judgment.
1:47I stuck in your guardrails. There we have it.
1:49And then also top 10 tight ends. So we'll get into that.
1:52A reminder that if you are looking for something to do while you are in the chat, Eric Moody is there.
1:58The great Eric Moody, he is answering all of your questions and engaging with you about Mike's costume for the show yesterday.
2:04That really got the people going. It did. People really enjoyed that.
2:07And I'm glad because that was my, we actually had a, what was it, a Christmas party last year?
2:12A holiday party at my house. Yes. And it was a pajama party.
2:15So everyone wore their PJs and that was mine.
2:18So I've now worn that two times. It was great.
2:20I'm getting a good run out of it twice a year.
2:23It was hilarious. It was great. One of my memories from that holiday party was there were a lot of pregnant moms there at that time.
2:30Remember that? Yeah. It was just like a weird confluence where like a lot of us who were invited to this party all had expected wives.
2:37And now all those babies are born. Yeah, I made like 100 margaritas and they just sat there.
2:42I had 84 of them. I digress. That's how I came up with my bust picks for today.
2:46But again, Daniel Dopp coming at some point we hope during the show.
2:50What we're going to do is Mike and I are going to go through our bust picks.
2:54And if Daniel shows up, we will let him empty out the clip.
2:58If he does not show up because of travel stuff, you and I will go through his picks and decide whether they were good or bad selections.
3:05I do like that. They just cut to the empty chair.
3:08Yes. It's like he's here. There he is. There he is.
3:11There is Daniel Dopp. In spirit, Daniel Dopp is here.
3:13By the way, this, you know, this is a tough exercise.
3:16It's tough to go because oftentimes we think and even me, I would even I would even put me in this category,
3:22despite it's going to sound like it's not true.
3:24But like generally, we're positive about players, right? Especially guys ranked this high.
3:28You know, these are the guys we'd like. These are the guys we want to draft.
3:32So when you go, you talk so positively about the same guys over and over, it's tough to be like, okay, I
3:38have to like adjust my notes and my thought to like, what's the downside here?
3:42And that's, I think I do that a lot with a lot of players.
3:45It's important not just to see the ceiling, but see what could go wrong, you know, because stuff goes wrong and you're
3:51like, how on earth did Dave Davis fail in Buffalo?
3:54Right. Everything seemed positive. How did Brian Thomas go from wide receiver four as a rookie with a backup quarterback for a
4:00chunk of the season and drop off that much in year two?
4:03It doesn't make sense. And the offense was successful.
4:05Like it's a, it's a really hard thing to do, but it's important to look at.
4:09So I actually going through this, I was picking one, one specifically.
4:13I'll tell you who it is when we get to that player.
4:16But I was like, actually, the more I dig into this, this is more of a red flag than I thought on this guy.
4:22So it is a, it is a healthy exercise.
4:24I think even though it's a negative exercise, we'll find out my picks in just a moment, but just one way in
4:30which I landed on my selections and at least two of the four cases was I looked at players in the range that we're talking about.
4:37And I found out if I was the lowest ranker or tied for the lowest ranker on any of the players within
4:43the top 10 quarterbacks, top 20 running backs, wide receivers, or top 10 tight ends.
4:47And that allowed me to make my pick. I'm going to tell you right now, Mike, it was hard to find a
4:53bust for tight ends because there's only so many good ones that it's hard to find a bust for tight ends.
4:58That's the one that I'm referring to. That was really interesting.
5:01All right. By the way, I did not do it exactly that way.
5:05I looked at like, I thought more in a range of outcomes, like this guy, like a lot of the guys, again,
5:10especially like QB ones, for example, the floor is so high or even tight end ones.
5:15Yeah. The floor is so high, but what about a guy that maybe isn't as cemented yet and has a wider range of outcomes?
5:21And you could say, okay, yeah, if that player busts, maybe we should have saw that coming.
5:25So slightly different angle, but the bottom line is I think we have some good names.
5:30All right. Let's go ahead and get to it, Mike.
5:32We're going to start with our quarterback busts and I'll take the floor here first, Mike, see what you think.
5:38My quarterback bust. And you said this stat at one point this preseason.
5:41And I really thought you had an incredibly rare error where I was like, there's no way Mike said that and meant that.
5:47At one point, you told me that Caleb Williams was quarterback five in total points last season.
5:51And I was like, there's no way Caleb Williams was quarterback five in total points last season.
5:56He was, in fact, quarterback five in total points last season was Caleb Williams.
6:00He also was quarterback seven in points per game last season.
6:03So Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy, because they missed time, finished with higher points per game than Caleb Williams.
6:08But, of course, he played wire to wire all 17 games.
6:10The issue is not that I don't think Caleb Williams is talented.
6:14I think he's very talented. I've talked often about how in the construct of the other pass catchers in this offense, like
6:19he's going to be an improved passer this year.
6:22He was 32nd in completion percentage last year. Do the math.
6:25That's not very good. Pack avoidance in the NFL.
6:27He's made a number of ridiculous throws that have already become like the stuff of YouTube legend.
6:32The throw against the Rams. There's all good. The jump man throw against the Packers.
6:36Like, he's a dynamic player with his hands. It just comes down to can Caleb Williams do it more consistently?
6:41Right. And I think that sometimes year-end finishes can be a little bit too misleading.
6:45Right? Because you can have a handful of spike weeks that inflate your season-long total.
6:49Jared Goff. Exactly. Correct. He's a good example of it.
6:51Seriously. That kind of cloud the reality of what the player is week in and week out.
6:56Our friend Tristan Cockroft writes about consistency of players.
6:58He does consistency ratings. And it's actually a great article that I would find.
7:02Just search Tristan Cockroft consistency ratings. It'll pop up from last year.
7:05And he overviews the system that he has developed.
7:07And he highlights the players that were most consistent at each position.
7:11He also highlights a couple of different categories. One of those categories is what he calls a stiff week.
7:16It's a week in which a player is started.
7:18And he performs so poorly relative to the rest of the position.
7:21That you would have been better off starting a player off of the waiver wire.
7:25Right? Caleb Williams last year in 17 games had four stiff weeks.
7:28And that's the thing about Caleb Williams. The good version of Caleb?
7:31Really good. The bad version of Caleb? Not so good.
7:34Just some context on how other... You know, Drake may have one stiff week.
7:38All of last year. Matthew Stafford. Daniel Jones. I know he was injured.
7:41But Daniel Jones. Brock Purdy. Just two all of last year.
7:44So there were players that in the case of Jones and Purdy.
7:47May not have had as many points as Caleb Williams last year.
7:50But just were more consistent week in, week out.
7:53I also know that last year the Bears schedule was more favorable than it is this year.
7:57Maybe it's a bit overblown of how difficult it's going to be this upcoming season.
8:01But it's not going to be as easy as I thought it was at times last year.
8:06Caleb tended to feast on the week and had a...
8:08Met his match against the more formidable opponents. So for those reasons, I'm just a little less optimistic on Caleb this season.
8:14Yeah. Two thoughts. First is, you're right about the passing efficiency.
8:17It has to be better. He completed 58% of his passes last year.
8:20To your point, one of the worst in the NFL.
8:23That's going to have to be better. And you could say, well, Ben Johnson's there.
8:27It's going to be better. Well, he was there last year.
8:30And it wasn't exceptional. So we need to see that this year.
8:33And it's also like, offense is a little top-heavy.
8:36You know, Adunze, Burden, Loveland, in terms of pass catchers.
8:38Like, if one misses a game, then you're like, okay, they're rolling out like a rookie and Khalif Raymond and, you know, potentially Cole Kamedu's fine.
8:45But, you know, obviously he's vaulted into more of a blocker as well.
8:48So that's something to think about with Williams. The other thing is, and my problem with him, he didn't...
8:53I didn't choose him as my bust, but he's a guy that I haven't drafted.
8:57And the reason is we talk about this tier, right?
9:00So let's say after like Joe Burrow's like quarterback six, like Dart, Lawrence, Prescott, Knicks, Purdy, Stafford, Caleb, Herbert, Mahomes.
9:05I have them all in a tier. Dart actually I have with Burrow, but everyone else is in a tier.
9:11The most expensive quarterback in that group is Caleb Williams.
9:13And that's my problem. I can get Dart two, three rounds later than Caleb Williams.
9:17And I like him more. So I just... And even if you don't like Dart, all of those other guys I listed,
9:23he's going ahead of all of them. So why would I pounce on him instead of just waiting upwards of four rounds
9:29and get a Bo Nix who was like I projected higher than him?
9:32Like it doesn't... That's the problem I've had with him during draft season.
9:36Money where my mouth is. I have Caleb Williams as my 15th ranked quarterback.
9:39Four have him in the top 10. And I believe two people have him as high as quarterback six overall.
9:45And our guy Matt Bowen is one of them.
9:47Matt Bowen knows serious ball. He's also based in Chicago.
9:50He knows this Bears team backwards and forwards. That was one of the reasons why I reconsidered Caleb moving on up in my rankings.
9:56But just love the quarterback depth overall this year.
9:58Who is your... And he has... He certainly has a high ceiling.
10:01We know that maybe he does make a leap forward and Ben Johnson's right.
10:05And they score a ton of points and he gets up there.
10:08But there's a lot of quarterbacks that fit that bill.
10:11I mean, it's just... It's so deep right now in that tier.
10:14So... And also, I think it's... We're going to like...
10:17I don't want to just deliver 20 qualifiers about how our picks may not be perfect, but they may be right enough.
10:23The only thing I will say is that a bust is not defined as like...
10:27I don't expect Caleb Williams to be quarterback 25 this year.
10:29Oh, no, no, no. Right? It's take a look at the players that are being drafted right around Caleb.
10:34Or perhaps even well behind Caleb, as you just discussed.
10:37Like Bo Nix. And is Caleb's juice worth the squeeze paying the full freight for that player?
10:42Who do you got, Mike? Mine is a little bit higher in our rankings.
10:45Actually quite a bit higher in our rankings. And again, I looked at the top 10 quarterbacks and I said, who is
10:51the guy here that maybe we're overvaluing a little bit or at least has a chance to be a bust?
10:56And we would say we should have saw that coming.
10:59And for me, it's Shaden Daniels. So he is QB2 on my board.
11:02But there's reasons to think maybe there's a chance the floor is low after what we saw last year.
11:07So again, outstanding in his rookie season, 2024. One rookie of the year.
11:1125 passing touchdowns. Six rushing touchdowns. Almost 900 rushing yards that year.
11:14But obviously, he was actually beat up quite a bit that season.
11:17He missed the bulk of that one game. I think it was the Eagles on Thursday night or something like that.
11:23I think he missed. He got hurt against the Panthers.
11:25It was the Panthers. Okay. Yeah. Last year, obviously, appeared in only seven games with the injury.
11:30But the other part of it last year is that when he was healthy, he wasn't quite as good in fantasy.
11:3520.9 fantasy points per game in 2024. 16.3 points per game.
11:38Last season, he was pacing for 675 rushing yards.
11:41It's obviously quite a bit down from 891 in his rookie season.
11:44And, you know, in terms of coaching and support cast, we've been kind of pointing that as potentially a positive, but it's not always a positive.
11:51You know, he does have a new play caller.
11:53That could change things from where he's been. Remember, there's a really fast-paced offense under Cliff Kingsbury.
11:57Maybe the plays are down this year. And, frankly, the supporting cast could be good, but it might be fine.
12:03Terry McLaurin. Stephon Diggs has, you know, kind of evolved his role a little bit last year in New England.
12:08And Chico Conquo has been fine so far, but we haven't seen him really break out into a star yet.
12:13So, not to mention the injury. It left tackle with Armie Tunsell who's going to miss a good chunk of the season.
12:19So, again, I remain optimistic about Jaden Daniels, but I could see a path to him kind of struggling this year.
12:25And also, there's been reports that they have struggled.
12:27The offense has been kind of getting roughed up, the offensive line specifically, who I've ranked very low, which is another reason why he is on my list.
12:34So, again, wide range of outcomes, I would say, for Jaden Daniels.
12:38A very high ceiling, but potentially a disaster. I have noticed that Commanders fans, and I understand this, by the way, they
12:43finally get a quarterback who gives them real hope and promise after what feels like decades worth of mediocrity at best in
12:49a lot of cases until Alex Smith arrived there and played well before he got hurt.
12:53It just feels like this is a franchise that's been waiting for somebody like Jaden Daniels.
12:58And understandably, Commanders fans don't want to hear that Jaden Daniels is not anything but the truth.
13:02I think that after two seasons, I lean much more heavily towards he is the truth.
13:06But last year did bring about some questions, and I was not expecting to ask, given how great that first season was.
13:12Yeah, no doubt about it. Again, I remain very optimistic about him, which is painful as an Eagles fan.
13:17I don't like how optimistic I am about the Giants, the Cowboys, and now Jaden Daniels.
13:21That's kind of scary, and you wonder if the Eagles are going to go over the other side very soon, and these
13:27other teams are going to be competitive. But anyway, we'll see what happens.
13:31So we're going to save Daniels' pick. But I will tell you that the three names that I considered for my quarterback
13:36bust are my pick, obviously, Caleb Williams, Mike's, and Jaden Daniels, and Daniels, who we will not reveal.
13:41Yeah, my first choice was who he has, but yeah.
13:44Let's go to running back bust here, Mike. And maybe, just maybe, we're fortunate that Daniels not here in this moment because
13:50my pick for running back bust is Amari and Hampton.
13:52I thought about it. My current RB13 tied with you for the lowest amongst ESPN rankers, so no surprise that you are also thinking about it.
13:59Daniel, obviously, is the highest of any ranker at ESPN.
14:02He's got a fifth in his running back rankings.
14:04Let me give you a couple of negative stats from last year.
14:07One specifically that has, is a little bit, it's a yellow flag at least for me, but it could be explained based off the offensive line.
14:14But there were 49 running backs that had 100 or more carries last season.
14:18Hampton ranked 46th in percentage of carries that gained yards.
14:20Like just a decent amount of meat left on the bone.
14:23Now, you could justifiably tell me that was an offensive line issue for the Chargers, and I could hear you out on that.
14:29And it was also a different scheme. I am acknowledging that.
14:32Again, we're trying to find small warts on players that we still have ranked as a top 13 back.
14:37The offensive line, they did invest heavily this offseason.
14:40They drafted four players. They paid Tyler Biotish three years and $30 million.
14:43He's now out for the year, so you can take him away from the equation right now.
14:48But both of their amazing tackles are healthy or healthy-ish at the moment.
14:51That's big. As you guys know, I love this scheme.
14:54So it's a little bit about the offensive line health and a little bit about the lack of gain rate last year from Amar and Hampton.
15:00But it really comes down to, I think that the most optimistic rankings and outcomes from Amar and Hampton revolve around him being the guy unto himself.
15:08And just so many other players, the guys that are being ranked in the first five to six of running backs, really
15:13don't, they either have no threat whatsoever for work behind them, right?
15:17A la B. John Robinson and Jameer Gibbs. Or they're guys that are such good bets to rush for 1,200 yards and 12 touchdowns.
15:23Derrick Henry, who does have some threat behind him because if they're playing from behind, it's going to be Justice Hill.
15:28Jonathan, maybe James Cook. James Cook, if they're speeding the ball up, then they would throw Ray Davis or more likely Tyler Johnson, Ty Johnson into the mix.
15:36Bottom line is that Amar and Hampton to me is being drafted at times at the ceiling.
15:40And I'm not entirely sure the ceiling is there.
15:43Keaton Mitchell is a legit player. Yeah. That contract has been in my brain all off.
15:47Yeah. That has led me to adjust things a little bit too.
15:50Is this the hyper on Keaton Mitchell? I think there's a little like, I'm not getting carried away.
15:55I feel like many have gotten really carried away with it, but he's going to be involved.
15:59And if that's pulling Hampton off the field and key spots, not to mention they, Mike McTaniel said they're going to use three backs.
16:06And again, I'm not taking it super seriously, but if Kamani Vidal plays 10 snaps a game, that's 10 less for Hampton.
16:11And maybe he's at 50% of the snaps or 55.
16:14Like it, it does. It doesn't make me sink him in my rankings to somewhere like terrible.
16:19It's not like RB 25, but it could knock him down behind like Brees Hall or, you know, Saquon and Henry and those kinds of guys.
16:25And because those guys are so close. I will also point this out to 4.4 yards per carry as a rookie, but
16:31remember the sample was kind of small, so we can pick it apart a little bit.
16:35He had that one huge game where he had like 12 carries and over a hundred yards against the giants.
16:41If you remove that, which again, I'm not saying you just remove the best plays, but that was one game.
16:46It falls to 3.7 and he was below like 3.8 yards per carry in a lot of games last year.
16:51It wasn't like it was just a fluke thing.
16:54Like that, that one game really did influence things a lot.
16:57And for the season, he caught most of his targets, which was good.
17:00I think he had the best catch rate actually at running back, but he only averaged five and a half yards per target, which is not good.
17:07So 35 was his 32 catches on 35. Yeah.
17:09Yeah. So, and again, interior O-line concerns, how much does the efficiency go up?
17:13So I think you can pick it apart for a bunch of reasons here.
17:17Not to mention that I've, I've said this before.
17:19Or I'm not quite as sure that like Mike McDaniel's the guy that's going to come in here and just make it
17:25go from an offense that really struggled to an elite offense.
17:28I don't know why it's just assumed that's going to be the case.
17:31So I don't know. I just feel like somebody is doing something wrong.
17:35If it's that easy to flip that switch to a Mike McDaniel and suddenly you're an elite offense.
17:39Like, what have you been doing? Like Jim Harbaugh is a smart guy.
17:43What have you been doing the last two years?
17:45I think he's been at times too stubborn for sure.
17:48Maybe that's it. Maybe I could be wrong. To me, it's, and I do believe this will be an elite offense.
17:53Did you see Justin Herbert last night? Chuck that thing to Quentin Johnson?
17:57You know, I almost, I almost posted this on social and I should have, but I was like, I, my thought was,
18:03I can't wait for that to happen again. Like in weeks three, seven and 15 next year.
18:07That's every other week. Quentin Johnson's useless, but he's going to do that on your bench all year long.
18:12Let me just give one more piece of context.
18:15Yeah. One more piece of context on Keaton Mitchell.
18:17Again, two years, $11 million. This isn't Travis H.
18:19Hand for four years and $53 million. But there's a point when you pay a running back five and a half million dollars a year.
18:26It's going to, he's going to have a role.
18:28What's the number one trait that Mike McDaniel loves?
18:31It's speed, right? Speed leads to big plays. Since 2023, when you look at every player that's had at least a hundred
18:36carries, because there's probably a couple of random guys that got some reverses or something.
18:40Keaton Mitchell has gained at least 10 yards on 18.2% of his carries.
18:44That's number one in the NFL. Like he is kind of a vision of what Mike McDaniel wants a running back to look like.
18:50Not saying Mike McDaniel doesn't think very highly of Amari and Hampton.
18:53He's on the record there. It's just if Amari and Hampton is playing 62% of the snaps versus 72% of the snaps,
18:59that might be enough for him to go behind.
19:01Yeah, for sure. He's going to limit the ceiling.
19:04He may not be RB13. He may be RB17 in that instance.
19:07Who's your running back pick? All right. My running back pick is, and I'll totally own this.
19:12This is a little bit of a layup here.
19:14I'm taking Josh Jacobs. There's plenty of reasons for concern here.
19:17But the fact is, we also had some news yesterday regarding him to charge with two misdemeanors.
19:21We'll see where that leads, of course. But I think there's a lot of reasons to think that at his current ADP,
19:27which is the third round, it's just like, don't do it right now.
19:30Like, just press pause on Josh Jacobs. We also saw, after a really strong start to the season, he missed a little bit of time with the injury.
19:38And then his production and usage really plummeted down the stretch last season, 11.3 fantasy points per game.
19:43Overall, he was still effective. He scored a ton of touchdowns since he's been with the Packers.
19:47But he had that groin injury. We have a potential suspension coming at some point.
19:51We don't know for sure. But that could come at some point this season.
19:55And keep this in mind, he's 28 years old.
19:57And I've picked guys apart for this plenty. Over the last five seasons, there's only 12 instances of a running back age
20:0320 or older finishing top 15 at running back.
20:05And fantasy points. And some of those are the same guys.
20:08Like Derrick Henry said it a few times. That's a 16% hit rate.
20:12I've said the guys like Henry and CMC tend to be unicorns.
20:15I don't know if Josh Jacobs fits that building.
20:17I don't think. He fits more in like the Dalvin Cook, Joe Mixon, that sort of Aaron Jones, where I think around
20:23this time it's going to start to fall off a little bit.
20:26So I think a healthy, non-suspended Jacobs and a really good offense has a shot for one more really good fantasy year.
20:32Where he can be a borderline RB1. But with all of the other issues here, where he's going in drafts, very, very high chance of busting this year.
20:39Let's own or try to do our best to sort of talk through this legal situation here, Mike.
20:44I think these are, and they're not the most important thing.
20:47I think these are the hardest bits of ranking analysis to do when there's something like a legal situation hanging over a player.
20:53What do you really say? Right? Like we don't know what the next step is.
20:57We don't know whether Josh Jacobs is going to face significant punishment.
21:00We don't know whether Josh Jacobs is going to face no punishment.
21:03It's not nearly as important as real life. Like fantasy football is not nearly as important for it.
21:08But as of right now, like last night I did a draft.
21:11And I was not going to draft Josh Jacobs.
21:14Probably at all. Like I figured, I just figured somebody else would do it before I did.
21:18But in my first four or five picks, like I was not considering Josh Jacobs.
21:22We don't really have a good answer on what Josh Jacobs' next legal steps are.
21:26And his fantasy value is not nearly as important as the real life ramifications of that.
21:30Exactly right. But I understand if people at this moment in time, until there's clarity, are saying, you know what?
21:35I'm just going to let somebody else do it because I'm concerned about what's going to happen next in that legal situation.
21:41Yeah, no doubt. We're just doing our job here.
21:44The fact is we're out on him for now.
21:46And obviously we're prioritizing Marshawn Lloyd, who looks the part now, looks like he's healthy now, and heads in the right direction.

22:48Round pick for me last night was Marshawn Lloyd.
22:50And we now have Daniel Dopp here. There he is.
22:53Hey, bud. That's right, my friends. Your favorite Double D is here.
22:56We can start the bus show now. And I'm excited to be able to be here with you guys.
23:01What's going on, Fields? What's going on? I don't understand.
23:04Sorry. I, um... Inappropriate. I have no words right now.
23:06Welcome. We have covered our running backs and our quarterbacks so far for bus.
23:10I heard that. Yes. How about we go back to QB and running back, and you just take them over from there?
23:16Real quick, I will just say this, and Mike and I talked about this for a little bit.
23:21Jalen Hurts is going to be my potential bust here.
23:23If you look at what Jalen Hurts... Yes. Oh, he is my bust.
23:27But if I'm picking someone like we had talked about, it's really tough because I listened to the top of the show while I was sitting in traffic.
23:34Oh, is that right? Yes. Yes, I did. Your energy is great right now.
23:38Yeah. How was it? How was it? Top of the show was good.
23:41It was good? Yeah. What's that, like a letter grade?
23:44Like a B to B plus. I didn't get many of those back in the day, so I'll take it.
23:49Yeah. That's better than what I usually get when I do Mike's mocks.
23:53So, like, B to B plus is pretty good for what it's worth.
23:56I mean, we usually get a C, so it sounds like it's better.
23:59Yeah, better. I got to see my draft. Yes.
24:02Okay. I got it. Okay. All right. Got it.
24:04Jalen Hurts, last couple of years, we've just seen the efficiency fall off, start to fall off a little bit.
24:09Four years ago, he averaged 25 points per game.
24:12Two and three years ago, he averaged 21.5 points per game.
24:15Last year, that fell to 18.7. The rushing efficiency has fallen off a little bit.
24:19The efficiency of the tush push, shout out to my girl Liz Loza, who gave me this, under 63% efficiency on the tush push last season.
24:26I think that when we're looking at this now, there's no A.J.
24:29Brown. There's just a lot of easy narratives to be able to line up to.
24:33If there was one quarterback that we all still think is that cheat code because of the running inside of the top
24:38five at QB, Jalen Hurts just feels like the one that is the obvious bust where things could maybe not go right
24:44and he could finish outside of the potentially top 10.
24:47I agree. I thought about going this direction as well because it wasn't just the tush push.
24:51It was overall rushing. Everything. Substantially last year. I don't know if that's going to change.
24:56They do have a new play caller in Sean Manning, which if you're an Eagles fan and you watch them closely, I
25:01mean, it's amazing that they were as competitive as they were last year because that offense was extremely bad.
25:06They were, I think, during the top of the league in three and outs.
25:10Like, it was really, really poor last year. So, the hope is that Sean Manning, he's going to change things more, probably
25:16more under center, more play action, things like that.
25:18Hopefully, that'll improve the efficiency. But to your point, the supporting cast, not quite as good either.
25:23They're going to spread it around a little more.
25:25And A.J. Brown, we know, is a real difference maker.
25:28So, he's fascinating. I still think he does enough with his legs and the offense will be good enough that he'll hang as a mid-range QB one.
25:35But I don't think the ceiling's what it used to be.
25:38And I think that if he doesn't run, if he just is committed to not running that much, he might fall and
25:44be a fringe QB one, not a mid-range. And that means his ADP is a little too high.
25:48They're also moving away from the Jalen Hurts-centric offense.
25:51Like, this is now a timing and rhythm passing offense, at least according to the Eagles themselves.
25:55That's good for him. Yeah, we'll see. Like, if he can do that.
25:59I said that's good. No, you said that's new for him, right?
26:02Yeah, yeah. That's a change. Because I don't know.
26:04That's a new variable. Yeah, that is, I would say that Jalen Hurts has not, throughout his career, been regarded as a
26:10top five timing and rhythm passing quarterback. Agreed. Obviously, you guys never throw him for 4,000 yards into season.
26:15I think his career high in touchdown passes is 26.
26:18So if they're taking away some of the run and focusing on the pass, we'll see whether he can level up there.
26:23Daniel, who is your running back pick? And then after this, we're going to go to the mailbag, and I'll let you take over hosting dude.
26:30Love it. Love it. I actually shut the show off when you started talking about Amari and Hampton as a bus field.
26:36I got to be honest. It hurt my heart a little bit, but I understand why.
26:40I said you weren't. I know. I know. Earmuffs from that one.
26:43My bus is Quinshawn Judkins. Okay. Because this is another, it's just a narrative situation for me, right?
26:48You look at what is one of, does he play on the worst offense out of all the top 20 running backs in the NFL?
26:55Question. Yes. Is Dylan Gabriel under center in this scenario or not?
26:58Great question. If we knew, it might be easier to prognosticate, guys.
27:01I don't know if that matters. Yeah. I don't think.
27:04I'm being funny. Who knows? He was ridiculous. He was like so classic preseason football.
27:08So this is the thing with, this is the thing with Quinshawn Judkins and this Browns offense.
27:12I am just nervous. Wow. He could easily be the guy.
27:15I actually, if I had to pick a Brown, I would probably rather have Quinshawn Judkins over anyone else.
27:20I'm even a little worried about Harold Fann and just with how bad that passing game has looked.
27:25But it was bad last year. And he was good.
27:27It was bad last year. They're going to run that thing.
27:30It was bad last year. And then they added a handful of first round picks at the Wiser.
27:35That's fair. He also had about 25% of his total targets in two games.
27:39Yeah. Yeah. So with Quinshawn Judkins, it's just if this offense isn't going to be good, touchdown equity is probably going to be low.
27:45He is a very good pass catcher. I think when he is asked to catch the ball.
27:50But Dylan Sampson is there too. He's a really nice change of pace guy out of the backfield.
27:54Oh, Mike, you gave me a little bit of head nod for that one.
27:58You're not sure about Dylan Sampson? Not good rushing efficiency.
28:01I didn't say anything about rushing efficiency. I said he's a pass catcher.
28:04Well, he's not a threat though. I mean, Judkins was over 70% of their carries last year.
28:09I hear what you're saying. Like there's, I don't want to poke.
28:12I'm just saying. I don't want to poke yet.
28:14Go ahead. As a third down roll, there is a chance that he's not just going to be on the field all the time.
28:21Dylan Sampson will have a role as a pass catching running back in this backfield from time to time as a part of everything.
28:27And just with how bad this offense can be, I think that he is the worst running back on the worst team
28:33within all of the top 20 running backs. It just gives me the least excitement out of anybody to draft.
28:38There's no ceiling here. The ceiling is they're down by 100 points every game, which they might be.
28:43It might be. Yeah. And they just have to have dump off city because he's not going to get huge rushing efficiency
28:48or rushing touchdowns if they're trailing every single game.
28:51I could see him being off the field if they're trailing every game.
28:54Like, I do think they will legitimately play a lot of Dylan Sampson if they're down by 10 or more points.
29:00Yeah, very possible. I did face the heaviest box, the heaviest boxes in the NFL among qualified running backs last season, which may not change much this season.
29:07That's not going to change. Yeah, exactly. But here's my pushback on this one.
29:11Okay. If we're talking about all of these running backs in like the RB1 and RB2 territory, let's just say the top
29:1720, which has generally been our kind of our cutoff before you get to like Bucky Irving and DeAndre Swift and guys like that.
29:23He's the cheapest. He's going in the fourth, fifth round of 12 team leagues.
29:27Like, so that to me feels like a value for a guy that, yeah, might have.
29:31There's a reason he's not going in the second or third round, you know, and I think you just kind of laid out those issues.
29:37If he was going that high, I'd be like, yeah, that's a problem.
29:41I would not be touching him in that area.
29:43But I think where he's going, a guy that can get, he's a candidate to lead the NFL in carries.
29:49I mean, it's going to, they're going to have to be somewhat competitive, but he's probably going to, they're going to try
29:54to get him 20, 25 carries every single game.
29:57And last year, he averaged two and a half targets per game.
30:00That could go up a little bit in year two.
30:03Remember, he is very young. He's one of the youngest running backs in the NFL.
30:07So he's a capable. I love him. That was part of his game.
30:10Yeah. Don't miss that. Yeah. Like he, as a prospect, he was really good.
30:14I mean, he has the chance to be one of the feature run, one of the best runners in the NFL.
30:19I mean, let's say five years from now, we look back at the prior five years.
30:23You might say Judkins is third in the NFL in carries over the last five years.
30:28Like he, he should be on that list. So Cleveland gets somehow better than maybe.
30:32But I mean, even last year, he had a ton, ton of carries last year.
30:36So I'm still optimistic about him and where he's going, especially if you're looking for a little, like a good solid RB
30:41two in the fifth round, fourth round. I'm happy to do it.
30:44Nothing like sticking to the structure of the rules and still getting told your pick was wrong because it's too low within the structure of the rules.
30:52Oh, you did a great job, Daniel. Well done.
30:54Thank you. All right, let's go to the questions.
30:56It feels like it's so weird sitting in this chair.
30:59Yeah, this is like, it feels like trying to write left-handed right now.
31:02It's awkward, but go ahead, Daniel. All right, let's take some questions from our YouTube chat.
31:07My friends shout out to our buddy, Eric Moody, by the way, Scott McClory.
31:10He was active in there earlier while I was watching question for the panelists.
31:14Are you a true bust? If you are healthy and just plain suck or do injuries affect your true bust status?
31:20Great question here from you guys. Yeah. To me, it's definitely, it's like, just go back in time to last year, right?
31:25Let's use two former LSU wide receivers. Justin Jefferson was a gigantic bust last year because he played all season and not because of himself.
31:32His output sucked. Malik Nabors got hurt in the fourth week.
31:35Now he wasn't, he did not come out of the gates as strong as we had hoped for.
31:40He did have, I think one gigantic game in there, but it wasn't three straight top five weeks and then he got
31:45hurt, but he was not a bust in my eyes because like he tore his ACL.
31:50Like that's just bad luck. Right. That's bad fortune.
31:52Yeah. Everything is kind of different. Like Brian Thomas was a straight up bust.
31:56Justin Jefferson is a bust, but the qualifier is, it wasn't his fault.
31:59Malik Nabors is a bust for a different, and then, you know, he got hurt.
32:03So I don't know. It's, I don't consider that a bust.
32:06The only guys, I agree. I agree. If I'm going to make a bust list, like I, we do that.
32:11We do like awards. Like I didn't consider Malik Nabors.
32:14Like he wasn't on my list last year, but Justin Jefferson.
32:17Yeah. I think so. Even though it wasn't his fault.
32:19I would like to say from an emotional standpoint, I would still consider them a bust, but they're in a different category
32:25that I don't hold against them in the same way.
32:28The only time I would put an injury guy in a...
32:31Your pick's still busted. That's fair. Yes. That's totally fair.
32:33I would say this, to defend Daniel a little bit here.
32:36Oh, right. I like this. If Christian McCaffrey gets hurt this year...
32:39I was just going to use that example. No!
32:42It's going to feel like a real bust. Yeah.
32:44Right? Because there's been enough recent injury history that there are people like Daniel that are like, I'm not going to do it.
32:50Right? And then sometimes you do it. I think a good quality...
32:53I would finish it. No, no. So that's where I land up.
32:57Like, generally speaking, nine times out of ten, if a guy's hurt, it doesn't apply.
33:01I think maybe a good way to look at it is, like, if you could have predicted it...
33:05Like, you can't... Like, okay, neighbors tore his ACL.
33:08Like, no one was going to sit here last year and be like, I think he's a bust because he's going to tear his ACL.
33:14Like, you couldn't do that. But Justin Jefferson, you could have been like, McCarthy just doesn't have it.
33:19This is going to be a disaster. And, like, you sort of could have seen that coming in a way.
33:24Like, if you've... I'm sure some people were lower on him for that reason.
33:28So maybe that's the way to do it. Yeah, that's fair.
33:31I would say, like, I think he's asked for our personal parameters of busts, unless it's a player that comes into the
33:37season and he either has an injury history or is dealing with an injury during training camp.
33:41Yep. I am not considering that a bust if he...
33:44Like, if Jameer Gibbs has something happen, sorry to know, God willing, that does not happen.
33:48That's right. If something does happen, I will not...
33:50I would feel like that's just a really crappy string of bad luck.
33:54Yeah. All right. Next question from our YouTube chat.
33:56This one comes from Adam Hinton. Adam wants to know, really worried.
33:59Jonathan Taylor is going to be a big bust this year.
34:02Are you any concerned about this Colts offense with him?
34:05I would love the why. Yeah, exactly right. This is kind of what I was just saying.
34:09Like, if he is now, what's the case there?
34:12Because if you have a case... Let's say we're looking back in December and he was a bust, it'd be like, why did we miss that?
34:19Right. So, that would be... Again, unless he has a serious injury.
34:22So, the case... I don't have a good case for this one, though.
34:25The case would just be that he's got two seasons of 370-ish touches.
34:29And so, a third consecutive season, does that make your body...
34:32And we're not projecting injuries, but does that make your body more susceptible to the wear and tear of a third season?
34:37Like, that's the hard part that's like, does it make you a bust?
34:41Or does it make you like someone that... I think about it, but I'm not sure that it weighs that heavily.
34:46I'm trying to imagine what the case for this user was.
34:49And maybe he's responded in the chat and we can get some feedback from the production staff.
34:54Is he potentially... Remember, you've highlighted the stat. It was, what, 12.2 fantasy points per game with Daniel Jones off the field?
34:59Yeah. Maybe it's, you know, concerned about his health and Daniel Jones' effectiveness.
35:03Sure. But he's probably the second best pure runner in the NFL, right behind Derrick Henry.
35:07He's a better pass catcher, at least a more prolific pass catcher than Derrick Henry.
35:11He's going to be amongst elite leaders in goal-to-go opportunities.
35:14And that might actually go up this year because the Colts might protect Daniel Jones a little bit.
35:18So, I think safe is a really dangerous word.
35:21I tend to think of JT as one of the more safe second half of the first round picks.
35:26Yeah, led the NFL in carries and touchdowns. Second in carries inside the five.
35:30And career highs across the board in all the receiving categories, which were all top 10 at that position.
35:35And to answer your question, he went from 24.8 points per game with Daniel Jones all the way down to 12.9.
35:40Final month and a half of the season. So...
35:42And by the way, he's 27. He still has a couple good years left.
35:46As far as floor plays go, there's... Again, it's hard to call anyone that, but he fits that bill.
35:51Amon Rao's probably the safest player in the first round, right?
35:54I think so. Amon Rao? Like, just because you're also getting a half-round discount.
35:58Not that Jamar Chase or Puka are like, if they're healthy or big threats to not be great.
36:02Same with Bijan and Jameer. But like, the stakes are a little bit different.
36:06Like, if you get Amon Rao in eight, you're like, all right, yeah, that's about where he deserves to go.
36:11I really... I love the stat that I use for the fantasy marathon.
36:15If I'm allowed to use it one more time, guys.
36:18Ask Mike. He's the stat guy. There is only one wide receiver in the NFL that has three consecutive seasons with 115 receptions.
36:24That's Amon Rao. There's also only one wide receiver with three consecutive seasons with 1,250 receiving yards.
36:28That's Amon Rao. There's also only one wide receiver with three consecutive 10 touchdown seasons.
36:32I have one, too. And I play this game?
36:34And that's Amon Rao St. Brown. I play this game, too?
36:37Please, yes. Only one receiver in league history with 90-plus catches, each of their first five NFL seasons.
36:42I got it. Mason Tipton. Amon Rao St. Brown.
36:44That's Amon Rao St. Brown. Yeah. Unbelievable. Shall we go to the wide receivers?
36:48Yeah, let's talk about some wide receiver busts, my friend.
36:51Let's do it. Start with you, Field Yates. With my running back pick, I took Daniel to task.
36:55So with my wide receiver pick, I'm going to take Mike to task here.
36:59I appreciate you doing this. I'm not dramatically lower on this player compared to my ESPN colleagues.
37:04I have him as my wide receiver 14. ESPN has him in consensus rankings as wide receiver 13.
37:08But if I told you there was a player that we're currently ranking as wide receiver 13, that in his career has
37:14four career games with 25 or more fantasy points and 23 games under 10 fantasy points, you'd say to yourself, a little dicey, right?
37:21Probably a bad quarterback play. Correct. That's exactly what you'd be saying.
37:24Bad quarterback play. Does it get better this year?
37:26I'm not so sure it does. It does. Difference of opinion here.
37:29He has nine weeks as a top 15 finisher in his career.
37:32He has 17 weeks being outside the top 30 entirely, right?
37:35So it feels like Garrett Wilson, who is, of course, my pick, if you couldn't already figure that out, is just a
37:41little too Jekyll and Hyde for me relative to some of the other wide receivers that are going to be taken around there.
37:47Just laughing that you're one spot lower. I said that, though.
37:50I said that, right? I know. I know. I know.
37:53But it just made me laugh. There are others that fit this category.
37:56We talked about Zay Flowers as a potential breakout candidate.
37:59Just a couple of years ago. There might be a cross section of the crowd that's saying, hey, like, how do you
38:05not feel that way about Zay Flowers? I hear you.
38:07I just have much more confidence in Lamar Jackson and this new Baltimore offense than I do Geno Smith and the Jets offense.
38:13Do you remember the last player, last wide receiver to average at least 15 points per game with Geno Smith as his QB?
38:19Wait, the last receiver too? Yeah. I mean, he had three top 16 receivers in Seattle.
38:24Lockett, Matt Caval, and the question. Mike, the question was 15 points per game.
38:2715 points per game. Is it one of those three?
38:30JSN? Metcalf? It is DK Metcalf. Metcalf, okay. Do you know what it was, though?
38:34No. 2021. It's been a while. Five years ago.
38:36Five years ago. Now, do they have a good receiving trio and they spread it around?
38:40You can make that case. But bottom line is, I just have a lot less confidence in Geno Smith than I know Mike does.
38:47And I have a lot less confidence in his overall Jets operation.
38:50I'm just concerned about this being one where he wins you two weeks this year and you feel like he loses you five weeks this year.
38:57I think he's the clear alpha, whereas no one really emerges that when he was in Seattle.
39:01I know as good as DK Metcalf was, Tyler Lockett was a huge part of that.
39:05And that year you're talking about? Yeah. Maybe Metcalf didn't have, or maybe I guess Metcalf did have 15 points, but Tyler
39:11Lockett was also top 16 in fantasy points that season.
39:14The next year, Metcalf was hurt and missed some games, but Lockett had a big season.
39:18The year after that, JSN was top 10 in fantasy points.
39:21I mean, Seattle was top 10 in passing yards and wide receiver fantasy points during that three years.
39:26I'm less confident. I don't know. Maybe I don't know.
39:28Just last year, maybe I just watched too much football last year.
39:32I watched the Raiders. That's what happened. That's your problem.
39:34This is how Mike wins arguments. He just throws numbers at you like fast and furious.
39:38He was top 10 three years ago. Two years ago, Tyler Lockett was top 15.
39:42Last year, he got this NFL. It's like a super soaker.
39:45He was just pounding you. Exactly. You know what?
39:48Just give me the towel. I'm relenting. I'm relenting, Michael.
39:50Fine. You're like, I walked in here, sat down, started ripping off Jalen Hurts.
39:54Actually, it's weird. You know what? It's like when you're playing paintball and it's like someone hits you.
39:59Oh my gosh. And that hurts. Yes. Like, just stop.
40:01I'm out. Like, hands in the air, I'm done.
40:04Is that a punishment? Like, just paintballed. No. We need to put that on the punishment.
40:08So you shouldn't even brought it up on the show field.
40:11Bad idea right there. Why'd you do that? For those reasons, I'm out.
40:14I'm Garrett Wilson with bust potential. Mike doesn't feel that way.
40:17Daniel, do you agree or disagree? Or are you kind of neutral on this one?
40:21I completely understand the bust potential of Garrett Wilson.
40:24Did you consider him at all? So do I.
40:26I'm just making the positive. Yeah. Did I consider him?
40:29I did not. Because I already knew who my bust wide receiver was.
40:32I've kind of been talking about it for a while.
40:35Okay. Let's hear your bust wide receiver then. My bust wide receiver is Nico Collins with where he is at.
40:40Nico Collins, as I have said to you guys before, in his five seasons, Nico Collins, three years, has spent time on the injured reserve list.
40:47Missed at least four games because of that. We're in a situation where he continually misses time.
40:51Has never played a full season. Not one time has he played a full healthy season.
40:55He's being drafted at the back end of your wide receiver one conversation.
40:59I am still unbelievably worried about this offensive line and C.J.
41:02Stroud's ability to be able to have time in the pocket to find his guy, Nico Collins, deep.
41:07Nico doesn't live in the slot. He's not having short area targets.
41:10He's not a short area king. He's a guy that runs down the field, catches the long ball, and that's what he does well.
41:16C.J. Stroud has got to have the ability to have a pocket to be able to do that.
41:21And it makes me nervous that of all the wide receivers that we're taking in that range, he's the one I feel
41:27like has the biggest bust potential because of not only the quarterback play.
41:30I know we were just talking about Geno Smith.
41:32I'm not sure. I really think C.J. Stroud is that good of a quarterback, to be honest.
41:37And maybe if he had a better pocket and he had a lot more time back there, I would feel differently.
41:42But after what I saw in his rookie season, it's just felt like regression city ever since.
41:47So I am out on Nico Collins and think that he is one of the biggest bust potentials because of the fact
41:53that he's being drafted as a low-end wide receiver one.
41:55Yeah. This one surprised me. We've talked about this before.
41:58What has changed for him? Like, what is the difference from, like, say, the last three years to this year with Nico Collins?
42:04Like, what am I missing? I feel like I'm missing something.
42:07I'll give you the answer. He has finished top 10 in fantasy points per game three years in a row now.
42:12So what is different this year that makes him that he's going to plummet?
42:16That's where I don't understand. I was thinking about this one here a little bit.
42:20Also, you highlighted our point. While you pull it upfield.
42:23No, no, you go. While you said he's finished top 10 in fantasy points per game for three years in a row.
42:29And I told you that three of the last five seasons, he has spent time on the injured reserve list.
42:34Yeah. I don't want to draft a wide receiver one that has an injury history that's found him on the IR over half of his career.
42:41But he finished eighth in total points last year, too.
42:43Last year he did. Yeah. But do you believe that injury history still exists?
42:47Maybe. I don't put a lot of stock into it.
42:50Okay. I think it's something that's easy to look back at it, but it's hard to predict it forward, which is why I'm so conservative with injury projections.
42:57I don't think that... But I just don't know what has changed for him.
43:01He feels like a floor play to me. I don't...
43:03I think what Nico Collins crystallizes really well is we talk about wide receiver depth all the time, right?
43:08And there are players that we like that are ranked like wide receiver 34.
43:12You're like, I could totally see it with... I don't even know who wide receiver 34 is.
43:16I think it's like Cortland Sutton. That's a great point.
43:19We could all agree. Cortland Sutton could work at wide receiver 20 or something.
43:23Yes, sure. And because we have positive outlooks for like 34 guys, it would make you think that there's got to be
43:29like 10 or 12 that you think are totally money in the bank.
43:32When the reality is there is a dip somewhere after those like first five or six receivers.
43:37It's pretty notable. Just go through some of Nico's games from last year, right?
43:40First week, three for 25. Three for 52 with a touchdown.
43:43Eight for 104 with a touchdown. Okay, now you're like, we're back on track.
43:47And then he goes three straight games with exactly four catches.
43:50Then he goes three games with seven, seven, and nine.
43:52And then the rest of the season, one, two, three, four, five, six.
43:56He ends the year with six games with five or fewer catches.
43:59That doesn't sound like a floor play to me.
44:01It is though. I mean, I have him. His bus rate was 10th best among wide receivers.
44:06And he had one of the highest top 10 rates as well.
44:09I mean, I disagree. I just think it's wide receivers are more volatile.
44:12Yeah. So, but it just, so maybe the, yeah.
44:15So it brings me to the back of the point of like, you know, the Pukas, the JSNs, the Amonra's, maybe a
44:21few more that you could put into that category.
44:23Like maybe a Justin Jefferson reverts to form. CeeDee Lamb reverts to form there.
44:27Rashi Rice, if he can stay healthy and on the field for the Chiefs can be that guy.
44:31Drake London, you know, it just paints that picture that maybe that drop-off hits right before Nico Collins comes off the board, Daniel.
44:37I would like to also state really quickly that while Nico Collins was, what did you say?
44:42Did he finish as wide receiver 11 in points per game last year?
44:45Eight wide receivers, seven in total points or something like that.
44:48Yeah. He was eighth total, 10th, top 10 points per game.
44:51That was with no running backs on their roster.
44:54And I'm taking a shot at Woody Marks here.
44:56But like they brought in David Montgomery to be a guy.
44:59They want him to be someone that they did not have last year because Joe Mixon didn't exist for this team.
45:04He did it. He was top 10 with Joe Mixon two years ago.
45:08He was wide receiver 23 two years ago. And what?
45:10Per game? No. Total points. Okay. He missed games.
45:13He was top 10 in points per game. So you're looking at points per game.
45:17Which matters. You don't get zero when he's out.
45:19No, but I have to go to my bench to go find someone else that's not Nico Collins.
45:24Okay. But you have to add back replacement level.
45:26I don't know. I just don't get how we're poking holes in this guy.
45:30I mean, even you just compared him to Zay Flowers.
45:33I can tell you. He was top 10 more than Zay Flowers.
45:36He finished 11 to 20 more than Zay Flowers.
45:38Zay Flowers crushed him in 21 to 30 finishes.
45:40That was a higher floor. And then in terms of outside, the top 30, they were about to say.
45:45I believe I know why. And this is Daniel's pick, not mine.
45:49I think last year we were all preparing for Nico Collins to lift off.
45:52It was like he is going to graduate from like awesome wide receiver to like he might be a top five wide out.
45:58Like I remember last year. I remember this league, of course, distinctly because it's high leverage.
46:03The war room. I had the ninth pick last year.
46:05And I was like, I think I'm going to take Nico Collins ninth overall.
46:09That's how optimistic I was. I ended up not.
46:11And I somehow got him, I guess, at 25 was when I picked in the second round.
46:16It's a 16 team league. And I was like, I just got to steal the draft.
46:20Nico Collins. We were like, I thought this guy was about ready to go to the moon.
46:25And he didn't. He had a solid season. But I think we were banking on the spectacular because there are moments of spectacular.
46:31Yep. And as of this year, Daniel does not view him as a guy going into the spectacular.
46:35Seven weeks outside the top 25 of wide receivers last year.
46:38Plus he missed time again this year. That's good though.
46:41That's good compared to other wide receivers. That's what I'm saying.
46:44Wide receivers are so volatile. You're going to have numbers like that.
46:47It's like, I don't think it's fair to compare him to Chase, Nakua, JSN, Amon.
46:51If that's what you're doing, then fine. You're right.
46:53He's a tier down from them. But we have him ranked as such.
46:57I have an idea. He's going to the second or third round.
47:00I mean. I hear you. I hear you here.
47:02I don't know. I, again, I'm just. I don't get this one.
47:05It almost feels like you don't get this one, Mike.
47:08I can't tell from your tone. Mine is a better one.
47:11Mine is Ted Aromac. Oh, of course. All right.
47:13All right. Go ahead, Mike. All right. We'll just pivot off that.
47:16We could do a whole show. I have an idea, though.
47:19It's how to make this work at the end.
47:22And look, I might be totally wrong on Nico, but I'm not.
47:25I'm asking you to explain to me what I'm missing and you're not doing that.
47:29I don't know what it is. I don't think that you have the emotional side of football like I do.
47:34I truly think that's it. I don't. I don't think that you think about football the way like I do.
47:39But I feel like if I've had Nico. There is no but.
47:43There's no but. But if I've had Nico, I wouldn't be emotionally scarred by him.
47:47I feel like just because he misses games here or there when he plays, he's good.
47:51No, this actually, Mike, is like it's almost annoying how good you are at this.
47:55But like. I don't compartmentalize like that. Correct. Like I care too much.
47:58I'm just being honest. You're so good at being like, yeah, but he was whatever.
48:02I guess that's it. Like maybe you guys had drafted him last year as like, I think he's going to make the
48:08JSN leap and he hasn't done that. So you're like, oh, he's just not.
48:12He's he disappointed me where I'm just like, he's kind of been.
48:15Honestly, I'm just a sappy emotional guy. And sometimes when my teams don't win the.
48:19That has to be. But that's what I'm trying to understand.
48:22Like I'm legit asking. That's what we're saying. He's over half of his time in the NFL.
48:26He has gone under the injured reserve list. I don't want to draft a wide receiver that has spent more time on
48:32IR than they've spent time off IR. When you look at three of his five seasons.
48:36That's not true, though. What do you mean? He doesn't spend more time on IR than three of his five years.
48:42He has spent time on the injured reserve list.
48:44OK, so sometimes I spend sometimes I think about it and we have 14 minutes left.
48:48We're going to get to our time. Yeah, we got to fly through.
48:52Doubtful. I have a lot to say on Tucker.
48:54You won't get time. We live obviously in Connecticut and there are three teams that really move the needle around here for fans.
49:00Right. Patriots. Yep. The Jets and the Giants. And so I know a lot of Giants fans as a result of being in Connecticut.
49:06And I have a lot of Giants fans that are just so disgruntled and frustrated over their team year in and year out.
49:12God damn it. Our offense sucked again last year.
49:15We underperform. Yada, yada, yada. And I always feel like my retort to them is like, if I could tell you that
49:21over a 20 year span, you would be you would win two Super Bowls.
49:24Would you take the other 18 outcomes regardless of what they are?
49:28As a Lions fan, I would say yes. In a heartbeat.
49:30Yes. And so that's me putting on my Mike Clay hat for a second because yes, they've won two of the past
49:3620 Super Bowls and in arguably two of the biggest upsets during that time as well.
49:40They don't care about that. I mean, they do care about that, but it doesn't mean that they're not incredibly frustrated by the fair point.
49:47Lose every game, not every game, every year they've lost way more games than they expected to.
49:51So I get that is the Mike versus Daniel side of the New York Giants argument that hopefully brings it to light.
49:57Let's get to your pick, Mike Teddero McMillan, and then we'll do tight ends and say goodbye.
50:02Teddero McMillan, offense rookie of the year last year.
50:04I think you know where I'm going with this 16th and fantasy points, 22nd points per game, but he had one top 10.
50:10We didn't see a ceiling from him. He only caught 56% of his targets.
50:14And we're not so sure that Bryce Young is going to be better this year.
50:18That's why I don't know if he's going to improve on where he was last year.
50:22Bryce, a 6.3 yards per attempt. Each of the past two seasons, he has yet to finish top 20 in passing yards or completion percentage.
50:29And in three seasons, he supported just two. Get ready for this.
50:32Two top 50 fantasy receivers. One was McMillan last year.
50:34The other was Adam Thielen a couple of years ago.
50:37So I just it's he needs a leap from Bryce to get to that next level.
50:41We're ranking him at that next level. I think the floor could fall out.
50:45So that's that's the case on him. But honestly, this just felt like a layup.
50:49So that's why I didn't pick it. I wanted to go with something a little bit more difficult.
50:54So I'm with you. I agree with all your stuff.
50:56I'm not even going to fight with you on it.
50:59You just made a bad pick. All right. We got all of our energy and our emotions out over that Nico Collins.
51:05Mike and I do love each other. Sometimes people worry that Mike and I don't love each other.
51:10Mike is one of my best friends. Look, that's why we're able to have conversations like that.
51:14Yes. Trust me. We are all good here. So do we workshop this?
51:17Do we find a way to kind of like each category, one of us wins, one of us lose?
51:22We have a gold, silver, bronze for each of these?
51:25That's the best pick out of all of them.
51:27Or like, you know. Which you got the silvers and the bronze so far?
51:31Stop it. Stop it. Whoever's pick busts more. I'm going to win tight end though.
51:35So I just went to W on tight end in advance.
51:38This is a fascinating. I don't exactly know how to do this off the top of my head.
51:43We can maybe talk through like a way to possibly score this.
51:46So for the end of the year. That'd be fun.
51:49It can be like who's picked for the best.
51:51I would love that. That'd be great. All right.
51:53Let's get to tight ends. This does feel personal.
51:56You did one pick against me, one pick against Mike, and then a second pick against Daniel Field.
52:00Get him. Get him. That's what you get for picking Nico.
52:03That's right. Actually, I was sort of right down the middle on Nico.
52:07I had a really hard time coming up with a tight end bust because the position is so thin with good options.
52:13Yeah. That talking myself out of one of the good options hurt my heart.
52:16Yep. I ended up with Sam Laporta. Mm-hmm. And the only reason why is last year he played 10 games.
52:22Yeah. He got hurt in week 10 of last season.
52:24So maybe he played nine games. He got hurt in week 10 of last season.
52:28Do you know how many end zone targets Sam Laporta had last year?
52:32I don't know this one. I don't either. One.
52:34That's not good. And so maybe this is the outlier.
52:37Maybe he was dealing with that back injury up to that point.
52:40Maybe they were just managing him. But generally speaking, tight ends are going to need touchdowns other than maybe three or four at the very top.
52:47So generally speaking, we're going to need more touchdown upside than Sam Laporta showed last year.
52:51Easy counter. Hey, two seasons ago, three seasons ago as a rookie, he was really good in that category.
52:56No need to feel like that's not going to get back on track.
52:59It's that. It's also the general number of pass catchers the Lions have.
53:03He has two career 100-yard games. Not a ton there in the department of big receiving outings for Sam Laporta.
53:08And he's now hurt. And I know that we said like busts generally aren't injury related.
53:12But when a guy's going into the season with hip history and back, it's not quite Christian McCaffrey, but it's at least on the radar.
53:19I agree with you. I'm with you on that, unfortunately.
53:21I get it. If it wasn't for this hip injury that just recently flared up and he was just coming back from
53:27back injury and things sounded good, I would feel a little bit more optimistic about it.
53:31I've drafted him. Yeah, I have as well. But I definitely see that, especially because if he's not out there, we've seen
53:37Jameson Williams without Sam Laporta absolutely take off in this offense.
53:40And so I don't think the Lions feel like they need to force Sam Laporta out there with the other options they have.
53:46It's like, let them get healthy. They got other people.
53:49So I'm with you. I like, unfortunately, I like this pick.
53:52I think we should finish with yours, Daniel, because it's one of the most interesting and I think understandable.
53:57Like there's a logic behind it picks. Yeah. Okay.
53:59So I'll go second. This is my favorite one too, because I went down a rabbit hole on this guy yesterday and it was fascinating.
54:06So Tucker Craft is mine. Jack Rabbit. He played his football at sets.
54:09That's it. Good pull. Good pull. So look, I've been kind of bad at him all off season because he tore his
54:15ACL in the middle of last season and it was kind of an unknown when he would be ready to go this year.
54:21It looks like he might be ready for week one, but I could in theory just stop there.
54:26Like tight end coming off an ACL chance to bust.
54:28Right. Yep. But there's, there's more to it. Obviously, um, came out and was fine in his rookie season, but it was
54:34only 14th in fantasy points per game because he didn't see a lot of volume.
54:38He was 18th in targets and catches, but he was very lucky in touchdowns.
54:42Seven touchdowns, but only three end zone targets was way over his head.
54:45Then we go into next or last year. Uh, obviously got hurt mid season, but before that way over his head in
54:51the touchdown department again, had six, but his expected total was 1.8.
54:54Only two end zone targets. You might be thinking, wait, that's two years in a row where he just like almost tripled his expected touchdown total.
55:01He's probably just good at touchdowns. That's just not the reality of the situation.
55:05I actually did some research on that two years, two year stretches of tight ends that exceed their totals by the largest numbers.
55:11He's at, at or near the top of the list.
55:13Those guys all year three went down. Wow. And like, he'll still, the history says he'll still be an okay touchdown score.
55:19He's probably not going to score two this year, but you know, he'll, he's going to fall off from where he's bid his touchdown rate.
55:26But I went a little deeper. Cause I was like, the one reason why I might feel differently is that his targets
55:32went up his last two games before he got hurt.
55:34He had 10 targets and back-to-back gains. So I was like, all right, maybe his target here should be much higher because of that.
55:41So I looked a little closer. 2024 averaged 4.1 targets per game.
55:44His first five games last year, 4.2 targets per game.
55:46So about the same. Then he had the two games with 10 targets.
55:50Jaden Reed was out for both of those games.
55:52Okay. Christian Watson missed week seven. Okay. Which is one of those games.
55:56Don Tavion Wicks was out week eight. So a little bit of targets could go his direction.
56:00And then I looked at his best games last year.
56:03He had four games with 12 fantasy points. They were against the Bengals, Cardinals, Steelers, and Commanders who ranked, get ready for this, first, second, fourth, and fifth.
56:10And fantasy points allowed to tight ends last season.
56:13And that's like meaning they're cakewalk matchups. Yes. And they were his only four games with 12 plus fantasy points.
56:18And two of them were those games where he was heavily targeted.
56:21So I was like, maybe that explains why he was a featured part of the game plan those two weeks.
56:26And what would have happened after that? Would he have kind of come back to earth and seen four targets a game?
56:32So all of that, plus the ACL, plus how competitive that mid-range areas of tight ends and his cost in the sixth
56:38round, I could see him just plummeting and not paying off.
56:41That's such a nuanced argument. How do you fight it?
56:43I went down the, I did go down the, you went down the rabbit hole on this one.
56:48It wasn't intentional, but I was looking at it and I was like, wait a minute, that jumps out.
56:53And I just kept going and going and going.
56:56I'm just waiting for the part where Mike says something that convinces me that Tucker Kraft is supposed to be a bust this year.
57:02It wasn't convincing enough. Oh, yeah. That wasn't enough.
57:04Ninth round. He's got a ninth round ADP. Six round.
57:07He's one of the most, he's one of the more expensive tight ends.
57:10A ninth round ADP. Okay. But if you play here.
57:13ESPN platforms, I'm good with it in the ninth round.
57:16Yeah. Daniel, yours is so fascinating. So make the case because I think you're pointing to a construct less than a player.
57:21Correct. And I'll explain that in a minute. 100%.
57:24Okay. My bust, unfortunately, is Trey McBride. Get out.
57:26Trey McBride is unbelievable. It's, I mean, him or Brock Bowers, they're 1A and 1B.
57:30We know that. The dude is one of the, if not the best tight end in the game.
57:35He is going to continue to have a huge target share.
57:38He will be potentially the number one pass catcher on his team again.
57:41If we don't see Michael, Michael, I almost said Michael Wilson.
57:44I didn't even mean Michael Wilson. Marvin Harrison Jr.
57:46Become the guy that they drafted him to be.
57:49But the draft cost is just way too high for me, given some of these other tight ends that we're talking about right now in fantasy football.
57:56Right now, coming off the board with the 21st overall pick.
57:59So the very beginning of the third round. And if you don't know, depending on where you're picking, if you're in the
58:05second round and you know he won't make it back to you in the third, he's sometimes coming off in the middle
58:10of the second round because you know he won't make it back.
58:14To me, with where the tight end position is at, it's not about how good this guy is.
58:18It's not about how many points he's going to score.
58:21I just think that I can wait a couple of rounds, get someone that's going to be close to where he is
58:27at and get better positional value because of it.
58:29Because I can take another wide receiver or running back or something else at that point of the draft.
58:34Get my tight end a little later. Would Brock Bowers have fallen in the same category for you?
58:39It was. You could slash Trey McBride slash Brock Bowers.
58:42This is sort of like the Josh Allen argument we've been making.
58:45Bill Pullian used to have a quote when he was with us at ESPN.
58:48And I think I might be off by either a couple words or stores, but it was basically like if you're going
58:54to pay Tiffany pricing, you can't get Marshall's quality or something like that.
58:58You know, fair. I like it. You're paying high-end boutique jewelry.
59:00You can't get department store quality product. Right. And so for Trey McBride to be worth his late second round ADP, he's
59:06got to be comparable to the difference maker he was last year, which could definitely happen.
59:11I mean, we like the depth to a degree at tight end, but it does fall off pretty.
59:15Definitely. Yeah. Like you get past eight or nine guys and all of a sudden you're like, really?
59:20Like Dallas Goddard? Like Jake Ferguson? Hunter Henry? Is those guys like that good?
59:24Really? Yeah. I think it's fair because I, I mean, kind of to your point, I haven't paid the cost for him.
59:29I'm waiting a little later. Yeah. On the other hand, like who leads the NFL in catches and targets over the last two seasons?
59:36Jamar Chase. Who's second? Trey McBride. Trey McBride. So it's hard to pick him apart.
59:40Also use it. The goal. Also, he wasn't that great with Kyler last year.
59:43He was averaged, averaging 12 and a half fantasy points per game.
59:47Once Brissette came in, he was at 21.1 per game and Brissette still is quarterback for now.
59:51So that, that helps the cost, but cause, but I'll give you this one because I'm not paying the cost.
59:56Thank you, Michael. Oh my God. I'm not paying the cost.
59:59It's not as good as a Tucker craft. Okay.
60:02I'm just saying. All right. All right. We brought a bonus bus.
60:05Yeah. Let's do a bonus bus. Yeah. Mine'll be quick.
60:07Want me to go first? Yeah. Quick. Go ahead.
60:10He talked about him. Omari in Hampton was my, my freaking dad.
60:13For this, all the reasons we, I already gave my case.
60:16You gave your case. So I'll leave it at that.
60:19I'm going to lean into mine very quickly as well.
60:21It's Ashton Jeanty. It has nothing to do with the, get the interest and help the cause, but I don't know if
60:27the offensive line is that much improved. It is definitely a better scheme.
60:30Yep. I do think his overall snap percentage will drop.
60:33They will, ready for this, Daniel? Have a more egalitarian backfield approach.
60:36Love that. A Mike Jr. Most. Mike Washington Jr.
60:39Like Mike Jr. But maybe the most important thing is if you go read the ESPN magazine, ESPN the magazine fantasy preview,
60:44there is a graphic produced by Mike Clay that shows projected strength of schedule for each team by position.
60:49And the Raiders project to have the most difficult schedule for running backs this upcoming season.
60:54So those would be reasons why Ashton Jensi can bust this year.
60:57Okay. Okay. I like it. Well said. I would have said Christian McCaffrey, but I've been saying him all season long.
61:02So like, I'm not choosing him for this exercise, but I think he clearly fits the bill.
61:07Um, I would end up going with Devante Adams as my other boss top 20 wide receiver guy.
61:12There's a lot of guys. There's probably at least six to eight other wide receivers being drafted behind him that I just
61:17like the ceiling of and potentiality of, is that a word?
61:20Sure. Potentiality. Yeah. Of more this season than I do with Devante Adams in that skill set that even though he's awesome,
61:26it's sooner or later you start to see these guys start to fall.
61:29I like guys that are probably more ascending. Give me a lot of McConkie over Devante Adams.
61:34Plus all those end zone targets that he got last year are going to Terrence Ferguson.
61:38We know that. That's right, baby. No, no, no.
61:412-2 Atwell. Oh, that's right. He's back, baby. Back on the right.
61:44I mean, he was playing about half the snaps early last year.
61:47Mr. 3 got hurt. And then when he came back, he kind of just rotated in.
61:51So he might be the three, but the good news is it kind of cements our love for the tight ends because
61:57if that's their target and not, you know, I don't know, they didn't sign like Keenan Allen or someone like that or Stefan Diggs.
62:03Like if it's 2-2 Atwell and Keenan Munn Field and guys like that, then we should be pretty safe with our tight end love.
62:10I just like what the Dolphins are doing right now as an organization.
62:13They signed 2-2 for $1.4 million, which is basically nothing for an NFL veteran of his caliber or of his tenure.
62:19And they traded him for a guy that was good enough to go in the fourth round two years ago.
62:24I like Hunter. I see whether Jarquez Hunter's a good player or not.
62:27But I thought he went about where he was graded to go.
62:30That's like kind of intriguing right there. If you're Miami, like what?
62:34I mean, what was the destiny for 2-2 Atwell with that franchise?
62:37Yeah. No, I think that was Hunter. There was your number 20.
62:40Yeah. There was some hedging there, I think, with the injury to Chris Bell, but it looks like he's going to be ready to go.
62:46So he's moving along. Yeah. Keep an eye on him.
62:49All right. Love that. It's been a fun week, guys.
62:52Closing out the week of the fantasy marathon. Thank you guys so much for hanging out with us.
62:56We got a show league draft coming up on Monday.
62:59Come and hang out. Yeah, it's not even mock draft Monday.
63:02I know. It's real draft. It's real draft Monday.
63:04We're going to put our money where our mouth is.
63:07Thank you guys so much for hanging out with us.
63:10Don't forget to love each other and be kind to yourself.
63:13You deserve it. Enjoy the weekend. We'll see you on Monday, guys.
63:16Later.
