Aaron Rodgers

NegativeProjection47:48

JJ Zachariason is not optimistic about Aaron Rodgers in 2026 despite roster improvements (new tackle, Broader Drums departure). Zachariason notes Rodgers had the lowest ADOT in the league last year and criticizes his play-calling as repetitive (slant-flat patterns). While Mike McCarthy's return offers theoretical upside, Zachariason points out that McCarthy's last years with Rodgers in Green Bay weren't working either, and Rodgers has stopped playing his traditional style.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

NegativeProjection33:00

JJ Zachariason discusses Baker Mayfield's 'tale of two seasons'—red hot early with ball going through defenders' hands, Mecole Hardman escaping sacks at ridiculous rate, then banged up and crumbling. Mayfield has great seasons with Liam Cohen and Dave Canales, then off-and-on with Josh Grizzard last year. Now gets Zach Robinson as OC. Zachariason thinks Robinson is 'probably a better offensive coordinator' than Grizzard. Mayfield was still QB18 in PPG last year despite completely banged-up offensive line. Going into this year, many have Buccaneers with best offensive line in NFL. Key concern is 'what level of Chris Godwin are we getting?' since last year wasn't good, and whether Mecole Buka is a star or banged up and plateaus. Without full weaponry, Mayfield may not fully get help.

Insight page

Bo Nix

PositiveProjection22:32

JJ Zachariason ranks Bo Nix as QB10 (consensus QB11+). Nix has been QB10 in PPG to open his career and can be drafted as QB11+ in most leagues. Adding Jalen Waddle gives him a top-10 receiver, making him a top-10 QB in back-to-back years to start his career—very difficult to accomplish. Zachariason notes he probably ranks him QB10-11 but acknowledges he's better than that ranking.

Insight page

Brock Purdy

PositiveProjection21:06

JJ Zachariason ranks Brock Purdy as QB9 (consensus QB11, sometimes QB13 on other platforms). Since returning in week 11, Purdy posted 70.6% completion (2nd best), 7.5 yards per attempt (8th best), 7.6 TD rate (2nd best), and led the league in 10+ yard completion rate for the second time in three years. Over the past three years he's been QB8, QB12, and QB6 in PPG. Last year was 'gangster season' with everything going wrong yet still finished QB6; schedule is tougher this year but he's a value at QB11-13 with easy stacking via Sean Dribbling.

Insight page

Bryce Young

PositiveProjection41:36

JJ Zachariason does not see a career turnaround for Bryce Young in 2026; the Panthers face significant offensive line challenges (new starters at both tackle spots, edge rusher injury on day one of camp, Monroe Freeling switching from left to right tackle). Young will need to rely on superhero moments and fourth-quarter comebacks with pinpoint accuracy, but Zachariason doesn't see the upside case materializing. The division is weak, but the offense and line construction don't support a breakout.

Insight page

C.J. Stroud

NegativeProjection37:00

JJ Zachariason ranks CJ Stroud as QB22. Stroud had great rookie season with Bobby Sloak, extra protection, and hot receivers (Nico Collins, Tank Dell, Noah Brown). Since then, offensive line has declined—Mike Clay ranked Texans 31st in pass protection. Texans lost Jaden Higgins, which is 'a huge deal.' Stroud is coming off 'disastrous post season.' Zachariason wants them 'red hot from the start' or 'the storyline continues.' For fantasy purposes, Stroud is 'just never gonna fully get there.' Looking back to 2023 was his big year as QB14. Zachariason notes 'He's just not a big quarterback' and 'just not going to run around enough.' Texans won't ask him to do a lot because their defense is elite.

Insight page
NegativeProjection37:57

JJ Zachariason views Stroud as unlikely to reach fantasy relevance despite a better 2026 season; he was QB14 in 2023 (his big year) and won't run enough to generate fantasy value. The Texans' elite defense and conservative play-calling scheme mean they won't ask him to do much, and losing Jaden Higgins further limits his ceiling. Zachariason expects Stroud to improve but not to become fantasy-relevant himself.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

PositiveProjection15:00

JJ Zachariason has Caleb Williams ahead of Jaden Daniels, noting obvious areas for improvement but strong underlying performance. Williams was QB8 in points per game last season with a 14.6% accuracy rate (worst among 33 qualified passers), all while in his first year with Ben Johnson as coordinator. Preseason and training camp were miserable with poor chemistry, yet he still had a very good season. Ben Johnson has stated he wants the highest-scoring offense of all time this year; if achieved, Williams would finish better than QB7. Second half of season showed real improvement; Colson Loveland came on strong from week 12 onward. Offensive line remains awesome; Williams can run more than he's been tasked with.

Insight page

Cam Ward

NegativeProjection44:02

JJ Zachariason ranks Cam Ward as QB26 and expresses concern about his 2026 outlook despite improved skill talent (Wandale Robinson, Cardinal Tate, Calvin Ridley). The core issue is the offensive line, which Zachariason believes is not actually better and causes Ward's lackadaisical play to generate turnovers. While Ward has theoretical upside as a Jordan Love-style air-it-out quarterback, Zachariason questions whether Brian Daboll's system is the right fit and notes August camp performance has been concerning.

Insight page

Dak Prescott

PositiveProjection16:47

JJ Zachariason ranks Dak Prescott as QB8, noting he's been a top-eight scorer in points per game in five of his last six full seasons. Prescott is the proven fantasy commodity in the Dak/Justin Herbert/Trevor Lawrence tier. Offensive line all returning, play-callers returning, skill group all returning, and he was awesome last year. Cowboys defense couldn't stop the run for much of the game, but with new coordinator there's a great shot at league-average defense at worst. Zachariason thinks Cowboys can be the one seed this year.

Insight page
NegativeProjection19:05

JJ Zachariason has Prescott in the same tier as Justin Herbert but expresses skepticism about repeating past performance, saying 'He's done this too many times,' suggesting inconsistency concerns despite tier placement.

Insight page

Daniel Jones

PositiveProjection39:43

JJ Zachariason is buying Daniel Jones as a value play; he was QB7 in 13 full games last year and is consensus QB24 in ADP. Zachariason expects Jones to finish QB14 this season, citing the Giants' #1 scoring offense, Shane Sykin's play-calling fit (point-and-shoot style), Jonathan Taylor's presence, Tyler Warren's quality, and Alec Pierce's expected Week 1 availability. Jones doesn't need to repeat his rushing production (12 yards per game last year) to hit this projection.

Insight page

Deshaun Watson

NegativeProjection51:23

JJ Zachariason is not optimistic about Deshaun Watson in 2026; he notes Watson may have looked better to some, but Zachariason observed him dirt a pass to Casey Concepcion five yards in front of him that would have gone for 15+ yards. The Browns will cycle through four quarterbacks this season, none of whom are fantasy-relevant, and each can be pulled mid-game. Zachariason would not draft anyone on the Browns in super flex and considers them the worst situation of the bunch.

Insight page

Drake Maye

PositiveProjection7:01

JJ Zachariason ranks Drake May as QB3 (though aggregated rankings show him lower). Last year's explosives and scrambles are exactly what fantasy wants: third in completion rate on 20+ yard throws with league-high five 30+ yard TD passes; targets went to Matt Collins, Kayshawn Boutte, and Stefan Diggs, and now he gets AJ Brown and Romeo Dobbs. Led NFL in scramble attempts, third in scramble yards, three scramble TDs, but only 20 design QB runs—untapped area. Post-season had some down moments, but regular season was unbelievable. AJ Brown addition is huge; Romeo Dobbs is a better safety blanket than Austin Hooper; improved offensive line depth and healthier left tackle (Will Campbell) make the environment significantly better.

Insight page

Fernando Mendoza

PositiveProjection45:09

JJ Zachariason projects Fernando Mendoza to start Week 6 (after two home games following New England) and ranks him higher than several other starting quarterbacks despite not starting Week 1. Zachariason sees real fantasy tools: Mendoza can throw downfield to the sideline and run over defenders. Zachariason compares him to Trevor Lawrence rather than Jared Goff and expects him to play many games with Clint Kubiak as coordinator, potentially finishing QB17 in the back half of the season.

Insight page

Geno Smith

NegativeMatchup46:16

JJ Zachariason likes Gino Smith's early schedule: Titans in Week 1, Packers (without Micah Parsons) in Week 2, and Lions in Week 3. However, Zachariason expresses concern about Gino's 2025 regression—he was throwing directly to linebackers without checking coverages, a departure from his previous risk-taking style. Zachariason hopes this was a Chip Kelly scheme issue. The Jets have strong skill talent (top young tackle duo, three-deep at WR, two-deep at TE, Breeze Hall, Braylon Allen), but Frank Reich's presence and Gino's recent play create uncertainty.

Insight page

Jacoby Brissett

PositiveProjection48:48

JJ Zachariason sets Jacoby Brissett's win total at 9.5 (higher than consensus 6.5) but notes it won't be pretty; the team will need to upset some teams. Zachariason states that if he knew he was getting 17 games from Brissett, he would rank him right next to Daniel Jones. Brissett was putting up strong numbers last year and would make Cardinals skill players more valuable if he started all 17 games.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

PositiveProjection9:00

JJ Zachariason prefers Jalen Hurts in the QB tier with Drake May, Joe Burrow, and others, citing his rushing upside and recent lean-down. Hurts has been a top-three fantasy option whenever he has a competent offensive coordinator; last year they finished 19th in scoring but were top-12 every other year he's been QB. Design rushes dropped to 3.3 per game last year (career low), and he only had eight carries from the one-yard line with five TDs (vs. 15 carries, 13 TDs in prior years). One scramble-heavy game was successful; others looked lethargic and slow. He's slimmed down this offseason (GQ interview), which could help. Zachariason has been drafting Hurts most personally in this group; can now draft him first, then Kyle and Dallas Goddard (typically both pass catchers went ahead of him).

Insight page

Jared Goff

PositiveProjection29:15

JJ Zachariason ranks Jared Goff as QB17 (same tier as Kyler Murray). Goff was QB12 in PPG last year when his play-caller got fired halfway through. Zachariason notes Goff 'literally has to have like a Matthew Stafford-esque season for him to be a top seven quarterback' due to lack of rushing compared to athletic QBs. However, Goff is 'very firmly on the table of having MVP season.' He's finished second in passing yards three straight seasons, so it's only about passing TDs. Lions are favored in 14 dome games and defense stings, so 'he could easily have a like 5,000 yard season with 44 touchdowns.' Zachariason is 'okay with him as the quarterback if I'm waiting for the entire time' and notes 'I know what I'm getting from him no matter what.'

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

NegativeProjection13:09

JJ Zachariason ranks Jaden Daniels as QB6, less excited now than in June due to Laramie Tunsil injury and center barely playing in preseason. Rookie season was great with Brandon Coleman at left tackle (basic offense, fantastic play), but things got stale last year. More risk for ruin versus other environments (skill group, offensive line, mystery offensive coordinator). However, even in bad situations, his 5.7 rushing points per game (QB5 last year) provides a floor; can't lower him behind Dak Prescott or Justin Herbert due to scramble upside. Only played 38% of snaps last year.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

PositiveProjection6:13

JJ Zachariason aggregates Joe Burrow as QB3 (though he personally has Drake May at QB3 and Burrow at QB4). With Jamar Chase and T Higgins on the field together over the past two seasons (550 attempts), Burrow has completed 72.3% for 8 yards per attempt and 7.3% TD rate. If both receivers stay healthy for 14-16 games, Burrow could finish top two-to-four at QB. He can easily win MVP this year; Bengals are more competitive than previously. Caveat: without rushing numbers, he's not a top-two fantasy QB in the modern era—more of a Matthew Stafford season (top five). Best value: draft him in round six if you have Chase or Higgins. Bengals games averaged league-high 53 combined points per game over past two seasons.

Insight page

Jordan Love

PositiveProjection24:34

JJ Zachariason ranks Jordan Love as QB14 (consensus QB18), marking a tier where he's comfortable drafting after filling his entire starting lineup. Love has been top-12 fantasy QB before in an always-efficient offense. Zachariason projects increased passing volume due to offensive line decline (now bad vs. previously good) and skill group experience (now experienced vs. previously young). Josh Jacobs may leave, forcing more passing. Love doesn't need to be more efficient, just drop back more. Micah Parsons is out and the division is loaded. Zachariason 'can easily see Jordan Love having his best career numbers across the board this year' and notes easy stacking with Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Tucker Kraft, and Jaden Reed.

Insight page

Josh Allen

PositiveProjection0:59

JJ Zachariason ranks Josh Allen as QB1 for 2026, citing his consistency as a top-three QB for four straight seasons with 24+ fantasy points per game in all of them. Allen has finished as the 30th, 18th, 30th, and 19th overall player in fantasy points over replacement per game in half-PPR, placing him in round three territory. Despite potential offensive changes under Joe Brady's play-calling, Allen's dominance persists across different offensive schemes (downfield and run-first). Additional upside exists with DJ Moore, Dalton Kincaid healthier, and a head coach he's close with; he's the number one red zone QB in the NFL and has 14 rushing scores with his third straight year of 12+ rushing touchdowns.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeProjection17:27

JJ Zachariason ranks Justin Herbert highly in the QB8 tier, preferring him over Dak Prescott for several reasons. Joe Alt's on-off splits are incredible: Herbert averaged 0.56 fantasy points per dropback with Alt on field vs. 0.43 without—the difference between QB7 and QB21 in weekly points per game. With Alt and hopefully Rayshon Slater returning, interior line hopefully a wash, Herbert has almost limitless potential. Last year he hit league-high 129 dropbacks while dealing with hand breaks and rib injuries. Mike McDaniel's passing game scheme and quick-hitting offense should help him avoid running for his life. Comparison: Tua had a QB5 overall season in 2022 without rushing numbers under McDaniel; Herbert is light years better.

Insight page
PositiveProjection19:05

JJ Zachariason ranks Herbert in the Dak Prescott tier, noting he's 'obviously light years better than Tua' but lacks the same skill group Tua had in prior seasons. Herbert's ceiling is defined by his talent level relative to his supporting cast.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

PositiveProjection28:00

JJ Zachariason ranks Kyler Murray as QB17 (his highest drafted QB on his teams). Murray 'could also have a poor season' but Zachariason is 'middle grounding' him at QB17. He loves Kyler and notes 'when the surroundings are awesome, that he can have awesome seasons.' Zachariason made a bold prediction of Kyler as comeback player of the year. Murray now has one of his best offensive lines ever with both tackles good, a first-round guard, Kevin O'Connell as coach, Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson, and Hawkinson. Zachariason expects Murray to run more and wants to see comfort level in first three weeks. He's curious if O'Connell will utilize Murray's athleticism differently now that he has an athletic QB (unlike Josh Dobbs in three games).

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeProjection3:18

JJ Zachariason ranks Lamar Jackson as QB2, noting a two-round gap between him and Josh Allen in current drafts. Last year was inconsistent (three top-five scores through four weeks, then QB29 after hamstring injury), but the transition from Todd Monken to Declan Doyle as play-caller is significant—Lamar has won an award (Heisman or MVP) every time he's had a new play caller. Key concern: Baltimore's offensive line is multiple tiers worse than Buffalo's, with center and rookie left guard issues. Upside play: 33% of Lamar's snaps were under center last year with a 75% completion rate, 9.2 yards per attempt, and league-high 11.2% TD rate; doubling down on under-center play-action could create an explosive season.

Insight page

Malik Willis

NegativeProjection34:00

JJ Zachariason ranks Malik Willis as QB20. Willis's rushing is his floor and passing is his ceiling. Zachariason believes some of his passing work is 'underappreciated' in terms of sticking in pocket, scanning field, and firing downfield. Over last three seasons on 159 plays, Willis is QB1 in EPA per play, QB11 in completion percentage over expected, and QB1 in success rate out of 79 qualifiers (passing numbers). As a rusher, he's top-5 in the league. Zachariason calls him a 'complete freak' and notes he's 'just as fast as Jaden Lamar' in straight line, better scrambler than Jackson Dart tier. In super flex, Zachariason would draft Willis as QB1 after four studs at other positions. He has no guaranteed money next year and Zachariason would be surprised if they trade for another starter. Bench risk is overstated; even if benched week 10 in redraft, you'd have info to make another move.

Insight page

Matthew Stafford

PositiveProjection22:48

JJ Zachariason ranks Matthew Stafford as QB13 (consensus QB16). Stafford won MVP, finished top-4 in scoring last year, yet is being drafted as QB16-17. Zachariason notes 'Matthew Stafford could easily throw for 44 touchdowns again this year' and highlights his under-center play action dominance: 20 TDs and 1 INT on those plays last year, with four no-look play action TDs over the middle. He's a value pick when other positions are weak on the board.

Insight page

Michael Penix Jr.

NegativeProjection50:09

JJ Zachariason expresses significant concern about Michael Penix Jr. as the Falcons' starting quarterback; Penix has barely practiced and hasn't played a single preseason snap, yet has already played himself out of being a lock to start Week 1. Zachariason notes Penix's career has been defined by big downfield plays but struggles with post-snap confusion, often throwing directly into defenders' stomachs. Zachariason expects Penix to play most of the season but is not optimistic about his fantasy value.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveBreakout38:48

JJ Zachariason believes Nico Collins can 'go absolutely crazy this year' with Stroud as his quarterback. Despite Stroud's own fantasy limitations, Zachariason sees Collins as the primary beneficiary of Stroud's improved play and the Texans' passing game.

Insight page

Patrick Mahomes

NegativeProjection31:00

JJ Zachariason ranks Mahomes as QB13 (consensus QB18). Mahomes finished QB4 in PPG last year, but 25% of his fantasy points came via rushing before tearing his ACL—that won't happen again. Zachariason notes 'I don't want to be flat out fading the maybe greatest talent quarterback that we have other than Josh Allen' but is doing so anyway. From 2023 until ACL tear, Chiefs were 16th in PPG. Mahomes won't run as much early in recovery and Zachariason still has 'worries about the tackle spot' and receivers. He doesn't draft 'any rushy rice' and doesn't feel obligated to draft Mahomes up the board. Chiefs are in a 'transition year' figuring out the offense's future. Offensive line concerns include possible seventh-round or undrafted starter at one tackle spot, and left tackle has 'some oddities' with back soreness from weight gain.

Insight page

Sam Darnold

PositiveProjection38:54

JJ Zachariason expects Sam Darnold to regress from his 2025 breakout; even when the Seahawks were Super Bowl champions, Darnold finished as QB27 in points per game. Zachariason notes Darnold ran hot last year throwing downfield but expects regression as the defense remains awesome and game scripts become less pass-heavy in close, low-scoring games.

Insight page

Trevor Lawrence

NegativeProjection19:12

JJ Zachariason expresses concern about Trevor Lawrence's offensive line, noting 80% of it will be starting in new places. Anton Harrison is moving from right tackle to left tackle, and Van Lannen has been injured most of camp and is moving to right tackle. This instability is a red flag in the QB tier discussion.

Insight page
PositiveProjection19:15

JJ Zachariason is 'a Trevor guy' and ranks him as his quarterback one despite offensive line concerns (80% new starters, position shuffles with Anton Harrison moving right-to-left tackle, Van Lannen injured). Lawrence led all QBs in red zone fantasy points last season and is going in the seventh round on Yahoo, earlier than other platforms. Zachariason acknowledges some rushing TDs were fluky but remains comfortable with the pick given Liam Cohen's presence and the depth of QB options available.

0:00We close out our final rankings week with the quarterbacks.
0:03I mean, this position is so freaking deep. A lot of strategy is involved here.
0:07Like, should you even draft up with your Josh Norris and Lamar Jacksons?
0:11And if not, there's some mid-round quarterbacks that really suit our fancy, that catch our eye.
0:15Or is it just as simple as someone falling and whoever falls is the one you should select?
0:21By the way, we really like Brock Purdy this year.
0:23I think he's a, you know, the most undervalued quarterback in drafts.
0:27But on top of that, every single year, there's a late-round quarterback that smashes.
0:31Last season, Drake May, Daniel Jones, and we give two or three of our favorites to finish they do that this year.
0:37So stick around for this episode of Yahoo Fantasy Football with Josh and Hayden.
0:41Let's talk quarterbacks. I mean, I would say Hayden, the position has never been better than it is right now.
0:47That's probably not true, but at least it feels that way for fantasy football where you can go like 24 players deep with your starters.
0:54That makes Superflex incredibly intriguing this year. So this video is for single and double quarterback leagues out there.
0:59I'm going to just kick it off with Josh Allen at the number one spot for us.
1:04This whole conversation, this whole episode is also going to be a little bit of an offensive focus too, along with the individual players.
1:11And that makes sense with Josh Allen, where we think his offense is going to change quite a bit.
1:16Like since Joe Brady took over as the play caller, they've been 31st, 25th, and 30th in dropback rate.
1:22Now Joe Brady's probably going to have his influence on it without Sean McDermott telling him to run the football a bit more.
1:28And that might change Josh Allen scoring from maybe less rushing into more throwing, but that just still is going to make him the quarterback one of all.
1:36Yeah. He's been the top three quarterback in four straight seasons, finishing the quarterback one in three of those seasons.
1:42He's cleared almost 24 fantasy points per game in all of those seasons.
1:46So he's just been completely dominant. It doesn't matter which type of offense he's been playing in.
1:51He's been a downfield offense. He's been in this balance run first offense before.
1:54So it hasn't mattered when I run the math on him.
1:58Fantasy points over replacement per game in half PPR.
2:00He's finished as the 30th, 18th, 30th and 19th overall player.
2:03So that's the sweet spot. That's round three for me.
2:06But there are some indications like that. This could be one of his like better Josh Allen years.
2:11They're all awesome. But you add DJ more Dalton Kincaid's healthier.
2:14And you have the head coach is now like the guy that he's like best friends with.
2:19I could see this being like even more of like a let's just go all Josh Allen and maybe downgrade the James Cook rush attempts per game.
2:27Yeah. Most rushing yardage since 2022 for him. He is fifth year in a row of at least 500 rushing yards on the ground.
2:3414 rushing scores his third straight year with at least 12 rushing touchdowns.
2:37It's pretty cool. Pretty good. Pretty good. He's like the number one red zone quarterback in the NFL now, despite everyone still believing that's Jalen Hurts.
2:45It's now Josh Allen. I think the more interesting conversations where you should take him.
2:49So we have six people at Yahoo doing rankings.
2:52All of us. I think all of us have a great analysis.
2:55We're between 30th and 41st overall across the board.
2:58Boone, who always wins the rankings awards. He has them lowest at 41st and most of us have like at 30th overall.
3:04So that's the range. I'm 34. So I'm closer to the end of round three, but on a bunch of home platforms
3:10that you use, he's going to go in round two.
3:13We've talked about this before where I like the two V twos of like the wide receiver that you can get in
3:19round two and the quarterback you can get in round nine versus the quarterback.
3:23That you get in round two and the wider receiver that you get in round nine.
3:28Yep. Super deep this year, like beyond deep. Well, that brings us to Lamar Jackson as the quarterback too.
3:33And there's almost like a two round gap between these guys in drafts right now.
3:38Last year was just up and down. Like we know through four weeks, he had three top five scores and was the
3:44quarterback to overall scoring, but then he missed, you know, games with a hamstring injury and other things on top of it.
3:50When he returned, he was quarterback 29. And now he goes from Todd Munkin calling plays.
3:55You kind of open up this Lamar 2.0 to win another MVP.
3:58Yeah. I'm very fascinated to see what Declan Doyle does.
4:01Yeah. I think that Declan Doyle has probably the best chance of like kind of these new play callers, like him versus like David Blau.
4:08I'm starting to feel a lot better about like Declan Doyle and how everyone seems to be reporting that he's just the man.
4:15Um, and then with Lamar Jackson, like every single time he has a new play caller, like he wins like some type of award.
4:21So whether it's the Heisman trophy or MVP. So, uh, over the last couple of years, it's been Lamar and Josh Allen, then everybody else.
4:29And maybe someone like Jacoby lane makes the difference.
4:31Now, I think the one thing in the back of my mind with Lamar is this offensive line makes me really nervous.
4:37And I think like it hasn't been the best offensive line recently for like the last couple of years in Baltimore, where
4:44it was at one point, a big strong point, man, they have to like figure out center and they have a left
4:50guard who I think is awesome, but he's a rookie.
4:53Both tackles have been kind of in and out of the lineup before right guard isn't like a, a, an awesome player either.
4:59So that's like the one difference between Josh Allen Lamar is like, I think that the bills offensive line is like multiple tiers better than Baltimore's.
5:07Yeah. Now, if he plays like a top three quarterback this year, then Declan Doyle is going to be a head coach this time next year.
5:14You know, it really is that simple. Uh, one way of doing that is we've heard about it in preseason is the under center stuff.
5:21Uh, per reebs 33% of the Mars Jackson snaps were under center last year.
5:25And he led the NFL with a 75% completion rate while averaging 9.2 yards per attempt and league high 11.2 touchdown rate when under center.
5:32So yep. Is that just a small sample? Can we make that 50% or is this really cool?
5:37And we should lean into that even more. I remember for a long period of time, his numbers throwing over the middle
5:44and like deep middle, which is the most valuable part of the football field.
5:48Uh, he was by far the best quarterback at that type of stuff.
5:51So like the under center play action, like that's kind of where you're trying to target.
5:56Um, so doubling down on that part of it could like create a huge explosive season.
6:01And Lamar's been doing that since the Bobby Petrino days at, you know, Louisville on top of this.
6:06So, uh, that was very much a pro style offense and he's carried that stuff into the league.
6:11Okay. You have Joe Burrow as your quarterback three.
6:13This is where we slightly differ. Tell me why.
6:16Uh, I moved Jalen hurts ahead of him, but it's all in the same tier.
6:20Um, I was, I guess this is the order that it gave us.
6:24And I have Drake may as my quarterback three, I believe.
6:27And I think somehow some way our aggregation of quarterbacks is Joe Burrow as quarterback three, even though neither of us have him as quarterback three.
6:34This doesn't make any sense. Um, yeah, I'm trying to figure this out.
6:38Are you checking the numbers here in the backend?
6:41No, I must have Drake may like fifth or something.
6:44And Burrow is my four. It's yes. Overall rankings, 61, 61 and a half 62 for our average.
6:49So like it's the same player. And I think that's the difficult quarterbacks that I kind of end up with more often
6:55than the Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson territory. Okay. And you've been breaking that, uh, tie in favor of Drake may.
7:01Yes. Okay. Why don't you tell me why before we get to go?
7:04Okay. Then I'll just throw Drake may up there.
7:07We'll make this in a full blown conversation. I mean, what Drake may did last year in terms of explosives and scrambles
7:13is kind of exactly what we want out of the quarterback position.
7:17Uh, I mean on throws 20 plus yards or more down the field, he was third in completion rate with a leak
7:23high five touchdowns, uh, 30 plus yards. And then those targets were going to Matt Collins, Kayshaun booty and Stefan digs.
7:29And now he gets AJ Brown and Romeo Dobbs to do that too.
7:33Um, I mean, and he also led the NFL in scramble attempts last year was third and yards gained from scrambles had three touchdowns off scrambles.
7:40Um, he only had 20 design quarterback runs. Maybe they do that a bit more often and only through two seasons to
7:46design rushing attempts inside of the five yard line.
7:49That's it. Or he can do more of that.
7:51And we saw like Trevor Lawrence get way more of that last year.
7:55For example, Drake made that this is a untapped area of his game.
7:59So, um, there were some down post season things.
8:01And we can talk about that here in a moment.
8:04But the regular season was unbelievable for Drake. Yeah.
8:07Drake may is awesome. I think the AJ Brown stuff is just going to be a huge, huge win for him.
8:13And Romeo Dobbs, like a better, maybe safety blanket.
8:15I think Eli Raritan offers more than Austin Hooper.
8:18So there's a lot of ways that this environment is going to get better.
8:22There's more depth across the offensive line. Hopefully their left tackle will Campbell is healthier.
8:26This season does not have that horrific stint last year.
8:29So I think Drake may is going to fall out this year.
8:32I think for me, when it comes to the quarterbacks in this range, do I have AJ Brown or do I have
8:39T Higgins or do I have with Jalen Hurts?
8:41Do I have Devante Smith? So I think for the most part with within these tiers, it's, do I have their top receiver or not?
8:48It's kind of how I'm going into these drafts.
8:51Cause I think all these guys are so close together.
8:54Yeah. Um, maybe if I didn't have any of the receivers, I would go with Jalen Hurts first, uh, for me personally,
9:00because of how much of his game is built off the rushing attack.
9:04And, and I like Jalen Hurts this year because he's leaned out this year and it sounds like they're going to give him more design carries last year.
9:12They scaled back as design carries was not nearly averaging as many rushing yards as he typically does.
9:17It sounds like they're still going to do the tush push stuff.
9:20And then I would just like to see him with a competent offensive coordinator again, because whenever he has one, he's been a top three fantasy option.
9:28So I've been drafting Jalen Hurts of this group the most personally.
9:31And what's new about him is you can draft him first and then draft him Kyle and Dallas Goddard.
9:37Where typically both the pass catchers go ahead of Jalen Hurts, which made it a little bit harder to stack.
9:42On the rushing note, he had 3.3 design rushes per game last year, which was by far his lowest of his career.
9:49And then he only had eight carries from the one yard line and he only converted five of those for touchdowns last year.
9:55When in previously that was 15 and 13 in two previous years.
9:59Um, and also like he had one game last season where he scrambled a lot and it was really successful and they
10:05basically won the game because he scrambled. I remember all the other ones.
10:09He kind of looked like lethargic and slow and lumbering.
10:11And, but yeah, he has slimmed down and he did a GQ interview and all that type of stuff.
10:17So maybe that turned good on him. Yeah. I mean, they finished 19th in scoring last year.
10:22Uh, and they've been top 12 in scoring every other time that Jalen Hurts has been the quarterback.
10:27So fix the run game. It fixes everything else.
10:29Uh, okay. We do need to rewind and talk about Joe Burrow.
10:33Cause somehow, some way he is our quarterback here.
10:35I'll bring this up. Okay. I mean, with Jamar Chase and T Higgins on the field, the past two seasons, which is a huge number, that's 550 attempts.
10:43He's completed 72.3% of his passes for eight yards per attempt and a 7.3 touchdown rate.
10:48Like just be normal. Bengals. Let's have these guys play 14, 15, 16 games together.
10:52And if that happens, like Joe Burrow truly could finish as the top two or three or four quarterback this year.
10:58Yeah. I think he can easily win MVP this year.
11:01Like Bengals, I think are way more competitive than they have been previously.
11:05It seems like it's been a normal off season aside from there, like trying to implement more under center stuff, but they
11:11can abandon that if it's not working. I think that it will work to be honest.
11:16Um, and Joe Burrow is awesome. So like, there's almost like nothing to say.
11:20Like, I don't even know what I would bring to the table to say about Joe Burrow.
11:24Like, I think especially if you have Jim, I would say if you have Jamar Chase or T Higgins and he's available
11:31in the sixth round, you draft him. I think before that, it gets a little bit too risky to me because he's
11:37not going to have the rushing numbers that it typically takes to be a top two fantasy quarterback in the modern era.
11:43Um, like even like Tom Brady and a lot of the seasons would be like the tight end three or tight end
11:49four or the quarterback three or four. Um, so that's where like, you know, Lamar should go ahead of them because he
11:56has that nuclear season where Joe Burrow, it's, it would be the Matthew Stafford season from last year, which you can still finish the top five.
12:03Yeah. Rebs noted this, that over the past two seasons, Bengals games have averaged a league high 53 combined points per game.
12:09So a lot of people might say, Hey, with an improved defense, that means they won't put up as many points.
12:15I will add with a better defense that puts you in shorter fields.
12:19Yep. Easier, you know, areas to score points. Like for example, I think the Jaguar scored something like 122 points off of turnovers last season.
12:26Like, yeah. So often we just hear, Oh, you want the quarterbacks with bad defenses, that's from Hey, sometimes ones that create
12:32a bunch of turnovers and that it's not sticky year to year can also lead you to awesome fantasy seasons and shorter fields.
12:39The spot you want to avoid the most is when your defense can't stop the run, which like we've seen this with
12:45the Bengals in particular, where like it's just run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run touchdown.
12:51You're like, damn, there goes six minutes, eight minutes off the clock.
12:54And they gave up a touchdown. So, um, and there's no risk of turnovers.
12:58So like, that's, that's the spot that the Giants have been in.
13:02Yes. So like if your defense is giving up big explosives through the air, that's fine for fantasy.
13:07You just don't want like 10 straight run plays.
13:09And like, there goes the entire quarter. Okay. Jaden Daniels is our quarterback six.
13:13Um, it's one of those offenses I was excited for in June and less excited for now in early September.
13:19Uh, namely because of the Laramie Tunzel injury. And also the center has barely played football this preseason.
13:24We know Jaden Daniels rookie season. They actually played Brandon Coleman at left tackle.
13:28And that's who once again is doing this. Now that was a great fancy season for him.
13:33I will also say going back and watching all those games.
13:36That was really basic offense. You know, he excelled in it.
13:39He was fantastic. He took it to the next level, but we know that things got stale last year.
13:45So I don't know. Hopefully this is the team that makes my nerves stupid in preseason.
13:49Uh, but I actually think they're kind of warranted here.
13:52Yeah, I think they are warranted. They're just more risk for ruin here versus the other environments.
13:57Just like the skill groups, the offensive line, the, I'd also say mystery offensive coordinator, like just total, total mystery.
14:03So I just think there's more ways this one can go wrong.
14:06And at the same time, even when things are going wrong, if he's averaging 65 rushing yards per game, it doesn't matter.
14:12And sometimes that's kind of how the cookie crumbles where like it's a total shit show.
14:17And there he goes for another first down as a scramble and like it didn't matter.
14:22So I can only break ties against him. I can't like actually lower him in my like overall rankings.
14:27Like I'll throw Jalen hurts ahead of them now, but like, I'm not going to like throw him behind Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert.
14:34Like those guys just don't have the same upside as Jaden Daniels, even in a bad situation.
14:39He did post 5.7 rushing points per game last year, which was the quarterback five.
14:43So like there's your floor. And then he was also the quarterback five in points per game before he left.
14:49I mean, he only played 38% of snaps last year.
14:51I actually, and people might think this is crazy.
14:54I actually have Caleb Williams ahead of Jaden Daniels.
14:57That's not that crazy to me. There are obvious areas where Caleb Williams needs to improve.
15:01And yet he was still the quarterback eight in points per game last season.
15:05Like he had an accurate rate of 14.6, which was worst among 33 passers that qualified last year.
15:10Ben Johnson has, and that was again with a first time playing with Ben Johnson as his coordinator.
15:15And we know how it seemed like miserable last preseason was and training camp was that he just couldn't, they couldn't gel with it.
15:22And then still it was a very good season.
15:25So with that in mind, Ben Johnson has said, yeah, I want to have like the highest scoring offense of all time this year.
15:32And if they have the highest scoring offense of all time, Caleb Williams would be better than the quarterback seven.
15:37Yeah. And then, like you said, the second half of the season is when Caleb was like really starting to come on.
15:44So I like from week 12 on, he was on the field.
15:47That's when Colson Lovelland was on the field. All of it.
15:50Yes. Yeah. This team, the offensive line's awesome still.
15:53So I feel very good about Caleb Williams. And he can run more than he has been, than he's been tasked with as well.
15:59And speaking of bad defenses, the bears defenses, it's a tragedy.
16:03It's a tragedy. What's what's happening there? And that quarters and safety, there are a lot of no names out there right now.
16:09Nope. Nope. They're all banged up. They still can't rush the passer.
16:13They didn't fix that in the off season. And then, um, yeah, that's a good team for them to make the playoffs.
16:19They will have to be like top five ish in points this year.
16:23It's a stack division and, um, it'll be fun to watch though.
16:26Yeah. We disagree with like a lot of individual quarterbacks.
16:29Like, but I think we all have them in the same cluster and I'm kind of ranking them in clusters.
16:35Yes. Like they split up a tier break of wide receivers and running backs.
16:38And I'm like, okay, I would be happy to draft three or four of these quarterbacks in this area.
16:44Uh, and that brings us to Dak Prescott. Who's our quarterback eight.
16:47I mean, he's been a top eight score in points per game and five of his last six full seasons.
16:53Yeah. So I think Dak Prescott versus Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence kind of like the, the, that's the same type of quarterback, uh, more or less.
17:01And we love the coordinators. We love just the overall environments that these guys are in.
17:05And I just think Dak Prescott has done this for the longest as like a proven fancy commodity.
17:10So he's first on my list. That offensive line is all returning.
17:14The play callers are returning. The skill group is all returning.
17:17And he was awesome last year. And the Cowboys, one of those defenses where they could not stop the run for so
17:23much of the ball game that the game would like just disappear all of a sudden.
17:28And I think that's gotten there. And there's a great shot at them with this new coordinator to be league average at worst this season.
17:35I think the Cowboys can be the one seed this year to see it.
17:39Like this team is, I think very, very good.
17:41So in this grouping, you have Dak highest. I actually have Justin Herbert highest for a few reasons.
17:47I mean, the on-off splits with Joe Alt are incredible.
17:49They are truly incredible. Like again, Reeves' worksheet had this.
17:52Justin Herbert averaged 0.56 fancy points per drop back with Joe Alt on the field compared to 0.43 without him.
17:58That sounds small, but that's the difference between ranking as the quarterback 7 and the quarterback 21 in points per game on a weekly basis.
18:05And so that was Joe Alt really by himself with his offensive line.
18:09And so at worst, hopefully we have Rayshon Slater, hopefully, and Joe Alt.
18:12And then maybe the interior is a wash compared to what it was last year, you know?
18:17Yeah. Yes. I just don't want him running for his life than he was last year.
18:22He was hitting a league high 129 dropbacks. We know he broke his hand.
18:26We know he had rib injuries. We know he had all of it.
18:30I just think it's almost limitless potential with Justin Herbert in a Mike McDaniel passing game.
18:34Yeah. And then I think that I just trust McDaniel to like scheme around the offensive line and with either like quick
18:40hitting offense stuff or getting him out in the move a little bit more than what I thought last year.
18:46Last year was a very like traditional offense. So I think that'll help him out.
18:50The more you learn about Tua in this Falcons quarterback battle, the more you have to appreciate Mike McDaniel.
18:56And then like the upside case becomes more and more evident the more you learn about Tua away from Mike McDaniel.
19:02Tua had a quarterback five overall season in 2022 without rushing numbers.
19:05So that's the ceiling that you have with Justin Herbert, who's like obviously light years better than Tua is.
19:11It's not nearly as good as the same skill group as what Tua had during those seasons.
19:15But I think he belongs in the Dak Prescott tier.
19:18I just have Prescott. He's done this too many times.
19:21I think it's fair. Trevor Lawrence is next. I'm low-key worried about this offensive line.
19:25We talk about offensive lines all the time. I mean, 80% of it will be starting in new places.
19:31Anton Harrison is moving from right tackle to left tackle.
19:34Van Lannen has been injured most of camp and he's moving over to right tackle.
19:38He's played three positions, but you know, now be the start on that side to, you know, get pregnant on in at left guard.
19:45They're moving in someone else to the right side, so on and so forth.
19:49So yeah, that's the crux of everything with this team.
19:52And then also I brought this up that Jacksonville scored.
19:54It wasn't 120 points. It was 110 points off turnovers last year.
19:58And I doubt they repeat that. Yeah. And then Trevor also had all those goal line touchdowns, which he could repeat that.
20:04But some of those were beyond fluke. He maybe falls down and then runs for runs one in.
20:09And he's doing the big, yeah, there was some, there was some BS going on over there with the Trevor Lawrence rushing
20:16stuff, which I think will end up hurting him just a little bit, but he was the quarterback for last year.
20:21So, um, like this is why I'm a Trevor guy.
20:24Yeah. I, I have no reason to, to be betting against Trevor Lawrence with Liam Cohen.
20:29And, but this is why when we talk about the Josh Allen stuff, it's, it's not just what Josh Allen's going to do.
20:35It's within the context of how many other options there are in fantasy.
20:39We're halfway through this list of guys that I feel comfortable drafting.
20:43Like we're only halfway through with this. And Trevor is going in the seventh round, for example, on Yahoo.
20:48And that's earlier than he will go on other platforms out there.
20:51So I'm very comfortable, like you said, with Trevor Lawrence being my quarterback one.
20:55Uh, and he led all quarterbacks and fancy points scored inside the red zone last season.
21:00And it's a lot of what you talked about too, with the rushing, my favorite, actually value on the board.
21:06And maybe my ranking pushed him up here because he's my quarterback nine, but he's quarterback 11 for us as Brock Purdy.
21:12Um, he returned to the lineup in week 11.
21:14Then he went on to complete 70.6% of his passes, which was second best average 7.5 yards per attempt, eighth best, and
21:21posted a 7.6 touch on rate, which was second best.
21:24Was he throwing to anyone good? No. Anyone? Uh, did he have offensive line injuries in front of him?
21:29Yep. He also completed a leak high 61% of his passes, 10 plus yards on the field.
21:34The second time he's led the league in that.
21:36And over the past three years, he's been quarterback eight, 12 and six in points per game.
21:41And you're able to get him as the quarterback 11 at worst, you know?
21:45Yep. Sometimes it's quarterback 13 and these other platforms too.
21:48Yeah. I mean, last year was like the gangster season for Brock Purdy because nothing was going his way.
21:53And he still was a quarterback six and fancy points.
21:56So that was like a stamp for Brock Purdy.
21:59He's that's an awesome, awesome season that he had.
22:01It could get better this year. I think the biggest difference between the two seasons is one is now everyone's another year older.
22:08Uh, uh, and last year's schedule was a complete joke.
22:11This schedule is pretty difficult. But, you know, that's why you go from quarterback six to quarterback 10 and no one complains
22:17and we're on to the next one. And if we're talking about stacking, I mean, you know, I get Sean's dribbling in every single league.
22:24And so it's easy to stack here with Brock Purdy.
22:27Okay. Bo Nix is next up for us. Um, he's been the quarterback 10 and eight and fancy points per game to open his career.
22:34Again, you can get him as the quarterback 11 plus in drafts.
22:38I mean, it's crazy. It's crazy. And now he gets Jalen Waddle on top of it.
22:42Yes. Top 10 quarterback and back-to-back years to start his career.
22:45Very difficult to do. Add Jalen Waddle goes after.
22:48And guess what? I can't even say I'm better than this.
22:51I probably rank him as my quarterback 10 or 11.
22:54Like, this is how every one of these quarterbacks, we're like, he was better than this.
22:58And I rank him lower. Like, we're going to do this the entire episode.
23:02Like, this is, this is why you have to wait on the position.
23:06Well, I mean, Matthew Stafford's a perfect example of that.
23:09He won the MVP. He won the MVP. Finishes as a top four quarterback.
23:13In scoring. And here he sits as quarterback 13 for us.
23:16And in consensus, he's quarterback 16. You know? I mean, yeah.
23:19It's a very difficult podcast to do because, like, all these guys are awesome.
23:23You guys should just stack. Pick the quarterback for the guys that you've been drafting the most on that particular team.
23:29Draft whoever's falling. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Yeah.
23:32Matthew Stafford could easily throw for 44 touchdowns again this year.
23:35Like, no one would be surprised by that at all.
23:38And he's going as a quarterback too. It's almost a feeling I get in drafts where I'm staring at the board and
23:44it's like, okay, I don't like any of these other wide receivers or running backs.
23:48So, I'm going to take a look at the quarterback spot and then take someone I feel good about.
23:54Like, in the expert league that we did, that was when, you know, it was like DK Metcalf at wide receiver.
24:00And I was like, okay, I'll take the quarterback here now.
24:03For other people that might be, you know, when it's Chris Godwin at the wide receiver board or, you know, Jonathan Brooks at the running back position.
24:10It's like, okay, now I'll take my quarterback. Just one thing, why we talk about under center play action so much.
24:16On under center play action last year, Matthew Stafford threw 20 touchdowns and one interception.
24:21He probably was looking at the receiver on like only 16 of those.
24:24And he probably had four no look play action over the middle passes for touchdowns last year.
24:29He was unconscious. Okay. One of your big stands at quarterback though this year is Jordan Love.
24:34He's consensus quarterback 18 and he's quarterback 14 here.
24:37Yeah. So, this is like the tier now that I'm where I'm drafting these guys.
24:41So, it's Jordan Love's. It's Kyler Murray's. I'll do two of this tier because now we're into the range where we're talking
24:47pure backup handcuff running backs or wide receivers that I just don't trust at all.
24:51So, this is where my entire starting lineup has been filled up.
24:55I have a bench player at running back and wide receiver.
24:58And then you enter the Jordan Love kind of tier of players.
25:01Jordan Love is, first of all, he's been a top 12 fantasy quarterback before.
25:05This is an offense that's always extremely efficient. It's always just about the past attempts.
25:10And over the last couple of years, they've been dead last in neutral pass rate and neutral pace.
25:15And I think that was a Josh Jacobs stat.
25:17They, at one point, had a good offensive line and they had question marks and a lot of youth out with the skill group.
25:24Now, we can just flip that. Now, they have experience in the skill group.
25:28Their offensive line's bad. And Josh Jacobs might have to go to jail.
25:32So, I think they're going to pass the ball a whole lot more.
25:36They're going to play with more pacing. And then I think that Jordan Love's numbers.
25:40He doesn't have to be more efficient. He just has to drop back more.
25:44Micah Parsons is out. The entire division is completely loaded.
25:47I can easily see Jordan Love having his best career numbers across the board this year.
25:51And I think that it's really easy to stack his team up with Christian Watson.
25:56I draft a lot of Matthew Golden. You can like Tucker Craft and Jaden Reed.
26:00So, it's pretty rare when all three of your wide receivers go ahead and your tight end.
26:05And then you're the quarterback that goes after all of them.
26:08Like, how does that... Like, that doesn't make any sense to me.
26:11So, he's probably a good pick. So, if we're ranking a bunch of these guys ahead of consensus, that means one has to fall.
26:18And it's your beloved Jackson Dart. I mean, I thought I'd be much different than you on this.
26:23But he's my quarterback 15. And here he stands as our quarterback 15.
26:27I mean, the numbers last year, you can bring them up.
26:30But they don't necessarily apply here because it's new players.
26:33It's Malik Nabors on the field. It's, you know, new people calling the plays.
26:37But 42.5% of his fantasy points last year were via rushing.
26:40The only player that had a higher percentage than that was Justin Fields.
26:44Yes. Now, that was because he only had tight ends to throw the football to and not even great tight ends.
26:50So, it should be a big difference that Malik Nabors and Isaiah likely bring to this team.
26:55Yeah. So, I think he's just going to get squeezed for the reason that you just mentioned.
26:59I don't think he's going to run as often.
27:02And I think that's just going to make him have to get there with more passing volume.
27:07And I think that he is going to be able to do that.
27:10I think that he's a better passer than other people getting credit for.
27:14I think he's plays with good touch. But last year, it was just like a complete, like, just shit show surrounding.
27:20He was second most EPA on the ground, only behind Josh Allen.
27:24He was still 13th in EPA per play, 17th in success rate.
27:27But a lot of that was just the rushing stuff.
27:30He was also first in passer rating on plays excluding the first read.
27:34So, when he's out in the scramble drill and stuff, he can make those plays work.
27:38Hopefully, the first read stuff gets settled down with Malik Nabors and Isaiah likely.
27:42And if that's the case, he can out-produce this.
27:45I would just be fading that he's just going to be quite as good as a rushing threat as he was last year.
27:51And I think that would be smart for the Giants to get him a little bit more calmed down.
27:57Yeah. Dayball would call design stuff near the goal line.
27:59I don't think they're going to do that as often.
28:02And I think that they've tried to hammer in his head, like, hey, just scramble less.
28:07Yes. Yep. Okay. It wouldn't shock me at all if Kyler Murray jumps up a tier if he has a great season.
28:13That's what is going to happen. He could also have a poor season.
28:17So, we're almost middle grounding this, I think, as the quarterback 17.
28:20He's my highest drafted quarterback. Just like on how many teams I have him, he's the one I draft the most.
28:26How do you feel about that? Fantastic. I love Kyler Murray.
28:29I think Kyler Murray is going to be, you know, he's frustrating.
28:33But when the surroundings are awesome, that he can have awesome seasons.
28:36So, I think he's like the perfect example of like bold predictions.
28:40Like, Kyler Murray, comeback player of the year. We just wrote something up on Yahoo.
28:44And I had Kevin O'Connell as coach of the year.
28:47Like, it's stuff like that where the Vikings are just going to get red hot if Kyler Murray has a season I think he can have.
28:54It's one of the best offensive lines he's ever played with.
28:57Both tackles are good. First round guard. You have Kevin O'Connell, Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson, Hawkinson.
29:02It's just way better than what he's been dealing with previously.
29:05And I think he's going to figure it out.
29:08Plus, he's going to run more. I think we're going to have a good idea after the first three weeks.
29:13If he's comfortable, if he's standing in there, you know, trusting the environment, trusting that primary, trusting the tight window throws.
29:19Or is he like trying to find space to throw to?
29:22So, it'll be interesting. I'm really excited to watch him.
29:25Yeah, I think the Vikings are like one of the teams that want to watch the most this year.
29:31Like the Bears and the Vikings are definitely up there.
29:33I'm also curious, is Kevin O'Connell going to do anything now that he has an athletic quarterback?
29:38He's never really had like an athletic quarterback going into here.
29:41Other than Josh Dobbs in that like three games.
29:44Off the plane. And that was one of the coolest games ever.
29:47Okay, Jared Goff is our quarterback 17. He was the quarterback 12th in points per game last year.
29:52That was when, you know, his play caller got fired halfway through.
29:56He is though, I mean, there's a reason why we have all these other names ahead of him.
30:01And especially like the two previous and Dart and Murray, because they're going to offer some rushing.
30:06Jared Goff, he literally has to have like a Matthew Stafford-esque season for him to be a top seven quarterback.
30:12And that's in the range of outcomes here, but it's just the lack of rushing compared to a bunch of the other athletic quarterbacks we have.
30:19Yes, but I think he's very firmly on the table of having MVP season.
30:23That's the hard part about this. And I'm okay with him as the quarterback if I'm waiting for the entire time.
30:29You know, I know what I'm getting from him no matter what.
30:32But three straight seasons, he's finished second in passing yards.
30:35So it's literally only about the passing touchdowns. And you mentioned it, they're supposed to score all those points.
30:41They're favored in what, 14 games or 14 dome games.
30:43And, you know, like the defense stings. Like he could easily have a like 5,000 yard season with 44 touchdowns.
30:49And like all of a sudden we're like, is Jared Goff the MVP of the league?
30:54Like how did, how did we let this happen?
30:56But I think like that type of scenario, like is, is within the range of outcomes.
31:01So I think you should draft him. They have a bunch of injuries on defense open season too.
31:06So that's one to watch with some explosives being allowed.
31:09Okay. I have Patrick Mahomes as my quarterback 13, but between us, he's quarterback 18.
31:13This is interesting. I mean, he finishes the quarterback forward and points per game last year.
31:18Now a big part of that was 25% of his fantasy points came via rushing and he tore his ACL.
31:23So that's not going to happen again, but I can also paint a picture of, Hey, can walk to the third just
31:30makes the passing game easier for him. And he finally can connect on these downfield throws.
31:34You know, he was 11th in the league last year and 20 plus yards on the field.
31:39But again, he was 23rd in the completion rate of those.
31:42So I don't know. I don't want to be flat out fading the maybe greatest talent quarterback that we have other than Josh Allen.
31:49I don't want to be doing it either. I guess I have to do it.
31:53Um, from 2023 until he tore his ACL, the chiefs were 16th in points per game.
31:58You know, I think he's not going to run as much on the beginning.
32:02One's expecting that. And then I just still have worries about the tackle spot, um, and the receivers.
32:07So my homes could easily do it. You know, I just don't draft any rushy rice.
32:11I don't feel like I have to drag Patrick Mahomes up the board.
32:15That's a lot of Xavier worthy. Yeah. But that's usually kind of after where Patrick Mahomes is being drafted.
32:21I draft a lot of, you know, I draft a lot of Xavier worthy on my Kyler Murray teams.
32:26It's kind of that situation. Yeah. If you want to draft Patrick Mahomes, I'm not going to disagree with it.
32:32I just think that we're in, this can be like, I think a transition year as they kind of figure out what
32:38the future of this offense is going to be.
32:41And I just still don't think they have the wide receiver talent slash the, they have some real offensive tackle concerns.
32:47That makes me look a little bit nervous. Yeah.
32:49I think they might be starting like a seventh round or undrafted guy along their offensive line too.
32:54And there's seven problems. Jalen Moore inside maybe. Yeah.
32:57But even their left tackle, there's still just some oddities with him.
33:00They know his back sore because he's putting on more weight because he's coming in light.
33:05And there's, there's some weird stuff going on. Let's talk Baker Mayfield.
33:08Tale of two seasons for him. Red hot. The ball going through defenders hands for a long touchdown.
33:13So he met at Buka escaping sacks at a ridiculous rate.
33:16Uh, and then he gets banged up and it all kind of crumbles after that.
33:21Yeah. It's interesting. You know, he has great seasons with Liam Cohen, obviously Dave Canales before that.
33:26Then an off and on season last year with Josh Grizzard.
33:29And then now we get Zach Robinson. So you have like two guys that get head coaching jobs, one who gets fired after one season.
33:36And so like, what is the outcome going to be here with Zach Robinson?
33:40Yeah. I think Zach Robinson is probably, I would say better offensive coordinator.
33:43Um, and Baker Mayfield last year, he was still the quarterback 18 per game.
33:47And that was when the offensive line was like completely banged up.
33:51Like this, like going into the year, like a lot of people have the bucks, the best offensive line in the NFL.
33:57So, you know, we're drafting him where he finished last year when the offensive line was.
34:02Banged up. I think the hard part is what level of Chris Godwin are we getting?
34:06Cause last year was not a good version of Chris Godwin.
34:09And then is a Mecca Buka like a star receiver or is he banged up and kind of plateaus this year?
34:15And then all of a sudden, like he doesn't have the weaponry to like fully get help.
34:20So I think that's to me, the bigger concern.
34:23Malik Willis is our quarterback 20 ahead of a bunch of other names.
34:26I'll continue saying it that the rushing that he brings is the floor and the passing is the ceiling.
34:32I already think that some of his passing work is a bit underappreciated just in terms of sticking in the pocket and
34:38scanning the field and firing down the field. Um, but we'll see if he has enough pass catchers and then especially enough
34:44of a good defense to like keep them competitive in games.
34:48But, uh, Malik Willis and super flex. Hell yeah, give it to me.
34:51I'm in a super flex draft with your favorite fantasy analyst and I'm the last to draft a quarterback.
34:57And I got Malik Willis after going with four like studs at other positions as my quarterback one.
35:02Um, we'll see if that works out. I think he's got plenty of upside here and they don't have a backup quarterback.
35:08So I think that people are overstating his bench risk odds.
35:11And if you guys are playing for redraft, even if he gets benched in week 10, like you would have the information by then to make another move.
35:19So pure upside over the last three seasons, 159 plays.
35:22He is the quarterback one and EPA per play quarterback one in completion percentage over expected quarterback 11 and success rate out of 79 qualifiers.
35:29Those are passing numbers. And then as a rusher, he's top five in the league.
35:33No doubt about it. Complete freak more like he's well-built.
35:36So you can do a lot of like the red zone stuff with him.
35:40Um, but he's also like, I'm going to say he's just as fast as Jaden Lamar, but he is extremely fast in a straight line.
35:47So it's like better than like the Jackson dart tier of player, like as a scrambler.
35:52So you're going to get some crazy numbers from, from while he doesn't have, you know, a big cap hit, I believe
35:58next year in terms of guaranteed money, I still would be surprised that they're like, oh yeah, let's go with XYZ quarterback
36:04that we traded for to be our starter at some point this year.
36:08I mean, it might, I will say because everyone assumes that Malik Willis is just going to suck this year.
36:14Like, I don't think that like we should be assumed that he's just going to be a terrible quarterback.
36:19Like they, like there's some proof of concept with him.
36:22Um, so next Tyler shock started about halfway through last season.
36:25They drafted Jordan Tyson to hopefully take this offense to the next level.
36:29Jordan Tyson will miss at least the first six games.
36:32It sounds like, uh, and so now we're back to Chris Olave and Juwan Johnson on an offense.
36:37That's going to run the most plays in the NFL behind a good offensive line.
36:41Good offensive line. I like that. He had, um, he was the leader in yards per attempt on plays, excluding his first read.
36:48You go kind of watch those plays. He's willing to like get through his progression, throw the ball over the middle, which I just appreciate.
36:55I think that's like pretty, like, you know, it's like a veteran type of rookie season for him considering his age.
37:01Not that surprising there. Uh, and then he surprised, uh, was the Buccaneers for like three explosives on the ground.
37:07Um, kind of clustered those ones together, but he, he reminds me of Ryan.
37:11Tannehill. Um, and I think it's a kind of exciting offense.
37:14The skill group is still pretty, I mean, pretty rough shape, uh, without Jordan Tyson.
37:18Um, versus Devin Neal today. Hayden. Did they? Dang.
37:20They cut Devin Neal today. What can you do?
37:23What can you do? Uh. Pride of Kansas. He was fun.
37:26All right. Let's throw in CJ Stroud up next as our quarterback 22.
37:30I mean, we had that great rookie season. That was with Bobby Sloak.
37:34That was extra protection. They were red hot in terms of Nico Collins and tank Dell and even Noah Brown.
37:39And then ever since then, like you talked about looking at the, you know, offensive line rankings.
37:44I think Mike Clay just put something out and had the Texans at like 31st.
37:48Um, I agree. And that's kind of the key to all of this.
37:52Like Nico Collins is great. Uh, they just lost Jaden Higgins, which is a huge deal.
37:57And then, you know, CJ Stroud is coming off a disastrous post season on top of it.
38:01So this is one that like, I want them to hit it red hot from the start.
38:06And if it does, then we could be in for a really fun season.
38:10And if it doesn't, then like the storyline continues.
38:13Yeah. He's just one of these guys for fantasy purposes, just never gonna fully get there.
38:17Looking back to 2023 was his big year. He was the quarterback 14 and he averaged.
38:22He's just not a big quarterback. Yes, exactly. He's just not going to run around enough.
38:27And the Texans are never going to ask him to do a whole lot because their defense is elite.
38:32And, you know, they always want to play conservative ball with him.
38:35So I think he's gonna have a better season for the Texans and not going to be relevant for, for fantasy and,
38:42uh, losing Jaden Higgins, I do think was a big deal, but I think that, I think Nico Collins can go absolutely crazy this year.
38:49And Stroud will be better for Nico Collins. I just don't think he's going to get there himself.
38:54Okay. Next we have Sam Darnold and it's interesting.
38:56Like, I don't think, sorry, Seahawks fans, that they're going to repeat as Superbowl champions.
39:01Um, and even when the Seahawks were Superbowl champions, Sam Darnold finished as the quarterback 27 in points per game.
39:06So yes, he might throw more, but this is another one of those.
39:10You don't get big win upside here. Yeah. It's the same conversation with Stroud.
39:14I think Sam Darnold ran really hot last year, throwing the ball down the football field.
39:19We've seen Stroud do that for a season. Then it kind of regresses.
39:22The defense is always awesome. And then you don't have to throw the ball that many times because you're in close games and low scoring games.
39:30Um, uh, so yeah, Sam Darnold next to Seahawks.
39:32Stroud makes all the sense in the world to me.
39:35Okay. I have Daniel Jones quite high. I am buying that Daniel Jones looks better than any of us could have anticipated in April or May or June.
39:43He was the quarterback seven in 13 full games that he played last year.
39:47Now that offense is also like the number one scoring offense in the league, but I could easily see Daniel Jones, who
39:53is the consensus quarterback 24, um, finish as like the quarterback 14 this year.
39:57I like it. I, I, if we're doing super flex, he's like kind of the last one I'm going with and feeling
40:04a bit better than a lot of people that would also end up with Daniel Jones feeling in that Malik Willis team, my quarterback too is Daniel Jones.
40:12So I like this. I like this. Uh, that's like doing the absolute least you can do in super flex is those two.
40:18I think the offensive line is fine. Right. And I think Shane Sykin is really good at his job.
40:24And you have Jonathan Taylor to, you know, to maintain stuff.
40:27And then I think Tyler Warren is quite good.
40:29Yeah. And Alec Pierce seems like he's destined to play in week one.
40:33And so with that group, if Daniel Jones apparently is super human recovering ability, like I'm not asking him to do what he did last year.
40:40I'm asking him to do like half of what he did last year.
40:44Yeah. And I mean, last year he had 12 rushing yards per game.
40:48It's not like that. He was like getting home because he was just running like he was as a rookie.
40:54So, uh, I think it's a good call, but I didn't, I didn't, I didn't move him up.
40:59It's just one of those where we find certain play callers that are really good.
41:03Um, have a nice fit with quarterbacks that are kind of like point and shoot passers.
41:07And I feel like Daniel Jones is the point and shoot player that Shane Sykin just wants to utilize on the field.
41:14You know, not asking him to do too much more.
41:17And it's like, Hey, here's your answer. Pre-snap based on this coverage.
41:20If they change it post-snap, here's your answer. He says, yes, sir.
41:23And he rifles it in there. Yep. Yep. But are you biased because you met the man you shook his hand?
41:29Um, that video never came out. Be careful. That video never came out.
41:33Let's put it that way. Uh, Bryce Young's up next.
41:36Uh, Hey, I don't think the Panthers are going to have a great season.
41:40Really? Yeah, I agree. I agree. I mean, the opening of training camp after day one, when you have a new starter
41:46at left tackle, a new starter at right tackle and your edge two goes down all on by that in that first day is pretty rough.
41:54Um, I mean, it's asking Monroe Freeling to like switch from the left side to the right side and he might be able to do it.
42:01There's going to be some growing pains on top of that.
42:04Uh, and then, you know, Rasheed Walker got no money from anyone to play the left tackle spot.
42:09And then they had a ton of injuries along the interior of the offensive line last year too.
42:14Yeah. Freeling people were like, can you just play the position he played?
42:18Cause he barely played in college. Like now you're asking him to change positions on top of it.
42:23It's asking. And I think Freeling is going to be awesome.
42:26Like he is a prototype, but this is a huge ask for him to immediately start on the right side.
42:32He was somebody that you're like drafting him because in three, four years from now you have a finished product.
42:38Like this year is like, you change positions. You're at, you're asking for too much.
42:42Um, Bryce has had moments where he's ran around and then had some big plays in fourth quarters where he's like been
42:48able to get home as a quarterback too. He's going to have to do that a lot.
42:53Like he's going to have to put on like that superhero cape in second half of games and like throw the ball, like pinpoint accuracy to the sideline.
43:01Uh, you're gonna need a lot more of that from, from Bryce.
43:05The defense is probably gonna be a little bit better than where at one point it completely had bottomed out.
43:10It's like, maybe that helps them. The division's still bad.
43:13So I don't see like the true upside case, like the turn, turn your career around type of season this year.
43:19I just don't think it's going to happen. Well, they can't rely on second half comebacks like they did last season.
43:25And you know, the defense is part of that too, but it's also starting hot on offense and you know, they switch
43:31play callers from Canales to Brad Edzik and just throw the football down the field more often the first eight, nine weeks of the season.
43:38We talked about that last year when they finally did it last year, good things happen too.
43:43Um, I also think having Jalen Coke in the first half of the season is going to be big.
43:49Like that, that, that should help. They really didn't get them until about week eight, week nine of last year too.
43:55And team Mac and Coker is a good tandem.
43:57Okay. Cam Ward. What do you want to say about Cam Ward as our quarterback 26?
44:02Hopefully everything in August was wrong. Um, I mean, just last year as well.
44:06Um, I also think the context of like what he was as a prospect, I think still matters here because I really
44:12did enjoy him as a prospect, but I think both of us did feel squeamish like, uh, like how could this go wrong?
44:19It's like pretty easy as how, how, how this can go wrong.
44:22Um, and like, that's kind of what happened last year and what's continued to happen in training camp.
44:27The skill group is a lot better. Wandale as a safety valves better than what they had in the slot last year.
44:33And then obviously Cardinal Tate and plus Calvin really missed most of the season last year.
44:38He's out there. So I think the skill groups a lot better.
44:41I just don't think the offensive line is actually better.
44:44And I think that was a big problem with Cam Ward.
44:47He's very lackadaisical and what the offensive line that causes like huge, huge turnover.
44:51So I can just like inescapable. Um, at the same time, like he does have theoretical upside.
44:56I think he can play like a style of like Jordan love, like kind of a fun, just air it out quarterback.
45:02I just don't think that that's what day ball is trying to get out of him.
45:07Like, it seems like he's trying to, I don't know what day ball is trying to do.
45:12Yeah. Um, I mean, that part makes me nervous.
45:14The fit. If August is any indication, this is like maybe the final year we get Brian day ball as a play caller in the NFL.
45:22So we'll see BPR scam. One Dale Robinson, uh, Fernando Mendoza isn't starting week one, but we have him higher than a bunch of other quarterbacks.
45:29They're going to start week one. Yeah. I think he's going to start week six.
45:33That's gonna be my guess. I think it's the two home games after playing in new England.
45:38I think that's going to be my, where I'm drawing the line this year for Fernando.
45:43Fernando's got real tools. He can throw the ball to the sideline down the field and then he can also run people over.
45:49Um, so I think that there's a little bit more fantasy appeal than people would kind of give him credit for.
45:55Like, this is not Jared Goff. This is like a different style.
45:59He's closer to like Trevor Lawrence to me. Um, and I think he's going to play a lot of games.
46:05And I think that Clint could be a competent coordinator.
46:07So I wouldn't be surprised in the back half of the year.
46:11He's the quarterback 17. That does anything for anybody?
46:13Uh, let's talk Gino Smith and the New York jets.
46:16Okay. They're scheduled to open the season is the Tennessee Titans.
46:19And then they also get the lions defense in week three and sandwiched between there.
46:24They get the Packers without Micah Parsons. So like, I like it.
46:27Maybe we have a little nice start here for Gino Smith.
46:30If Frank Reich has kind of like found this calendar and knows it's 2026.
46:34Uh, but there's enough skill talent here and especially offensive line for Gino to have a bounce back year.
46:40He should. Yeah. One of the best young tackle duos in the league.
46:43And then you are three deep at wide receiver and you're too deep at tight end.
46:48And you got breeze hall. And I think Braylon Allen's a better backup than others.
46:52So like there's really not no excuses here except, you know, it's, it's Frank Reich.
46:56Um, Gino Smith last year was throwing the ball directly to linebackers without checking coverages.
47:01Yeah. It was not, he had not done that before.
47:03Uh, he would take risk in previous years, but last year he was just like Yolo balling it.
47:09Uh, I hope that was a chip Kelly thing and that he has not forgotten how to play football all of a sudden.
47:15But the Jets are a situation where they don't have like a clear cut backup.
47:19Like Clay, uh, uh, what's his name? Um, Kludenik.
47:22Kade Clubnick. Kade Clubnick. Gosh. It's like one of your grooms guys.
47:25Yeah, it really was. Um, I think Gino's going to play for most of the season.
47:30So of the guys we're going to get to next, I feel like he's going to play the most of the season.
47:36Somehow in the experts draft, I wound up with both DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.
47:41on my team. I noticed. So that was not my plan.
47:44Uh, I'm just hoping one of them emerges and I can dump the other one, but, uh, I am really rooting for Aaron Rogers now this season.
47:52Yeah. Uh, I wish you the best. I can't say I'm joining you on that train.
47:56I mean, I think Aaron Rogers is just like playing a different brand of football than literally the rest of the NFL.
48:02Um, it was not my favorite offense to watch last year.
48:06No, it was brutal. I mean, he had the lowest ADOT in the league.
48:10He can't throw it on the field. He, the only upside is, Hey, we got rid of broader drums, you know, and
48:16we have a new tackle on top of this.
48:18And then hopefully he and Michael McCarthy can find the time machine and dial it back seven years.
48:23But if you remember, and Craig Roosevelt was pointing this out, like the last couple of years of the McCarthy thing was like, that wasn't working out either.
48:31Like he wasn't working in the middle of the field.
48:34Yeah. He, he stopped playing like Rogers. He seems moody.
48:37It was slant flat, slant flat over and over and over again.
48:41Yeah. So we'll see. We'll see. I don't know.
48:43I mean, yeah. Okay. Uh, to close this thing out, got three more and Jacoby Brissette higher, lower six and a hearts for Jacoby Brissette.
48:50I'll go higher than that. Um, I would set it at nine and a half, but it's not going to be pretty.
48:57They're gonna have to upset some teams. Like if they're two and seven, then you pull the, you pull it.
49:02But if they're Owen nine, cause I remember that what he was last year.
49:06Was he? Cause I think he's already starting a streak where they did not win a game for like nine straight.
49:12So like if you lose another five and we're like, okay, as a team, we're Owen 14 with Jacoby.
49:18I'll say this. If I knew I was getting 17 games out of Jacoby Brissette, I would rank him, uh, right next to Daniel Jones.
49:25Yeah. I think that's totally fair. He was putting up some, he was putting up some numbers.
49:30I wish we got seven and I would be drafting all Cardinals higher if I knew I was getting 17 games at Jacoby Brissette.
49:36Uh, cause he was fun. Yeah. He was very fun last year.
49:40You know, we're getting Minshew and then Carson Beck and then we don't know what we're doing.
49:45Right. Yeah. Um, I'm not going to put him on the board because you know, uh, but we have the Falcons quarterbacks next.
49:51It seems like to have played himself out of even for certain being the quarterback one to open the season, which is crazy.
49:58Cause Michael Pinnock says barely practice. He hasn't played a single preseason snap on top of it.
50:03Right. Yeah. Uh, that's horrible. And we as salt, Michael Pinnock has been so far in his career and it's big downfield plays.
50:09If you confuse him at all post snap, he kind of throws it directly into your stomach.
50:14Wasn't my favorite prospect has not, I've not changed my tune, but I think he's going to play most of the season.
50:20Um, yeah. To a loss to job. He's like anti Kevin Stefanski.
50:24I agree with that. Stefanski wants the, you know, Dylan Gabriel to, uh, Hey, I'm going to point and shoot in the direction.
50:30Meanwhile, Michael Pinnock's, I'm not talking about like a freelancer in terms of moving, but he just wants these big shot plays down the field.
50:37And it sometimes doesn't have a lot of timing to it.
50:40Uh, and then that was also an ACL ago.
50:43I remember we were debating, people were debating like if he threw an interception, if he was trying to throw the ball
50:49with arc or if it was right at somebody and like, we had like some big debate and it was like, I
50:56think he was just like, I think he would just threw the ball about eight yards away from where he was trying
51:02to throw the ball to like his when he misses, he misses.
51:05That was an incredible tight window throw to Drake London.
51:08And it went through like three players and you go back and watch.
51:12You're like, actually, he was probably trying to throw to someone else.
51:15Yeah. That was to Darnell Moody. I'm like, no, like that, that was not even to him.
51:20Uh, he has those moments. Yeah. And then we have the Browns.
51:23Um, Deshaun Watson's opening the season. Uh, you know, maybe he's looked better to some people, but then I watch him dirt
51:30a pass with Casey Concepcion five yards in front of him.
51:33That would have gone for 15 plus yards. And, uh, I don't want to watch them play.
51:38Everyone's going to play, you know, there's going to be four quarterbacks at play here.
51:42None of them, none of them are really fantasy relevant.
51:45They each can get pulled in the middle of the game.
51:48I think Shador's no good. I think Deshaun's no good.
51:51Yeah. If we're doing again, um, super flex stuff, I wouldn't draft anyone on the Browns.
51:55I wouldn't draft anyone on the Falcons here. In fact, I think like that undrafted guy from the Falcons might get a start this season.
52:02As crazy as that sounds. I think Penix is draftable and super flex because I think he's going to get most of the season.
52:09Um, but I think I would take like Kirk cousins over the Browns guys.
52:13Like six games of Kirk cousins. Like I think that's going to be more valuable over the Browns guys.
52:19Easily the Browns. It's the worst situation of the bunch, which is saying something for the best situation of the bunch.
52:25Thanks for tuning in this week for our ultimate ranking series.
52:28Plus we did a rookie video on top of it.
52:31Hopefully you're prepared for your drafts this weekend. Uh, and we kick things off on Monday, Monday.
52:36It's Joel Smith and I for waivers this season.
52:38And we'll have a new episode ahead of week one for you just so you can switch up the team that you just drafted.
52:45Uh, talk about all the buzzy names here from August.
52:48And then for this upcoming week, we have Tuesday running back rankings with Justin Boone on the channel.
52:53And then Wednesday morning, Hayden and I are going to record a wide receiver show on top of it ahead of kickoff
52:59on Wednesday and Thursday ahead of week one. Sound good?
53:02Let's do it. All right. Have a great weekend, everyone.
53:05We'll see y'all then.
