A.J. Brown

NegativeValue23:33

Matt Harmon believes AJ Brown should be drafted as a third-round pick rather than in the late second round, where he was being selected in the mock draft. Harmon views the late-second-round ADP as overvalued relative to his ranking.

Insight page

Alec Pierce

NegativeValue57:37

Alec Pierce is mentioned as being drafted after an unnamed wide receiver (likely Damonte Adams) in the mock draft, suggesting Pierce is falling in draft order relative to other receiver options.

Insight page

Blake Corum

NegativeValue62:51

Blake Corum is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeProjection27:12

Breece Hall was selected in the third round of the Yahoo staff mock draft.

Insight page
NegativeRole40:01

Hall was selected as the third running back in a robust RB-heavy mock draft build, following James Cook and Derrick Henry in the first four rounds. This team then pivoted to tight end (Colston Loveland) and receiver in later rounds, demonstrating the depth of running back talent available early.

Insight page

Brian Thomas Jr.

NegativeValue50:15

Matt Harmon groups Brian Thomas Jr. with Roma Dunze, Parker Washington, and Carnell Tate as receivers in the same tier, indicating they are similarly valued prospects in the draft.

Insight page

Brock Bowers

PositiveBreakout20:24

Second-round pick with rare tight-end upside to deliver top-five fantasy receiver numbers by season's end; potential comparison to JSN as a generational tight-end talent.

Insight page

Bucky Irving

NegativeValue47:30

Matt Harmon took Bucky Irving in round 6 as a stop-gap RB2 option after failing to secure multiple early running backs due to poor value. Harmon had Irving in the "coping corner" since February, citing limited ceiling with Sean Tucker back; he doesn't project Irving as a top-10 RB or RB1, but views him as a viable top-24 option in round 6. Harmon notes the Buccaneers offense will be significantly better with an improved offensive line, and Irving remains the RB1 there, making round 6 a palatable ADP that bakes in risk while offering reward.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeValue62:51

Caleb Williams is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page
PositiveProjection64:07

Matt Harmon projects Caleb Williams as a potential top-10 fantasy quarterback and solid starter available at good value in the mid-round range, preferring this quarterback upside over chasing running backs.

Insight page

Carnell Tate

NegativeValue50:15

Matt Harmon groups Carnell Tate with Brian Thomas Jr., Roma Dunze, and Parker Washington as receivers in the same tier, indicating they are similarly valued prospects in the draft.

Insight page

Chase Brown

NegativeUsage14:14

Matt Harmon mentioned taking Chase Brown multiple times in drafts, then pivoting away from him in subsequent drafts to avoid overexposure to the same player in similar tiers, opting instead for alternatives like O'Marion Hampton.

Insight page
PositiveProjection21:07

Ranked ahead of Omari'an Hampton but both are expected to return round-one value; absolute slam-dunk pick with top-five fantasy back ceiling; minimal backfield competition; top-five in targets and receptions among running backs; Joe Burrow recently talked him up as a focal point of the offense with ton of volume; final 10 games of last season produced like a top back in the league.

Insight page
PositiveValue22:17

Matt Harmon ranks Chase Brown as a top-five target and reception receiver among running backs, highlighting his pass-catching ability as a key fantasy asset. Harmon projects Brown as one of the best second-round picks, noting that despite a difficult opening schedule, his pass-catching role ensures heavy usage and strong full-season production if healthy.

Insight page

Chris Godwin

NegativeValue62:51

Chris Godwin is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page

Chris Olave

NegativeProjection26:56

Chris Olave was selected as the first pick of the third round in the Yahoo staff mock draft.

Insight page

Christian Kirk

NegativeInjury0:59

Christian Kirk, signed as a free agent by the 49ers, is dealing with a calf injury that raises questions about his ability to contribute to the offense this season.

Insight page

Christian Watson

PositiveBreakout40:28

Matt Harmon identifies Christian Watson as an obvious breakout candidate who performed when given opportunities last year and is expected to receive even bigger opportunities this season. Harmon expresses strong conviction: 'As long as Watson can stay healthy, I feel really good about him as one of my favorite picks this year in drafts.'

Insight page

Chuba Hubbard

NegativeDepth Chart47:30

Chuba Hubbard was selected in the round discussed, part of a mixed group of running backs, receivers, and tight ends.

Insight page
NegativeValue59:08

Matt Harmon expects Chuba Hubbard to be drafted behind Jonathan Brooks very soon, as fantasy players chase the Brooks narrative and highlights despite Brooks' deteriorating value at seventh round ADP.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveValue38:35

Loveland's ADP has fluctuated from late third to fourth round; he fell to the fourth in this mock and is going only a few spots ahead of Trey McBride. Matt Harmon notes the Loveland hype may be catching up to McBride, who people are down on due to the Cardinals offense. Harmon thinks it's very possible these two flip in ADP, which would have been unexpected given McBride's season last year. Training camp reports show the Bears offense is cooking with all receivers going off and Caleb Williams ripping it, which supports Loveland's upside. Harmon is excited on the record about everybody in the Bears offense, including Loveland, and expects his ADP could end up flipping relative to McBride.

Insight page

Courtland Sutton

NegativeValue62:51

Cortland Sutton is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page

Cyrus Allen

PositiveSleeper30:06

Cyrus Allen, a fifth-round pick, generated significant training camp buzz and is the player Matt Harmon is most ahead of market on in his dynasty rankings. Harmon spent considerable FAAB in deeper leagues to acquire Allen off waivers after rookie drafts, viewing him as positioned to be the backup ready to take over if Rice misses time. Harmon tweeted about Allen being his most ahead-of-market dynasty target before camp.

Insight page

D.J. Moore

PositiveProjection40:28

DJ Moore is a quality receiver in a new offense where he will be the clear number one receiver. Matt Harmon notes that while he initially lacked conviction about Moore, he is warming up to this receiver tier significantly and now has more confidence in Moore's prospects.

Insight page
PositiveValue44:23

Matt Harmon ranks DJ Moore around receiver 29-30 and sees him as an attractive fifth-round pick despite not expecting a top-12 finish. Harmon notes Moore is set up to accumulate 130+ targets in the Joe Brady offense, which he believes fits her better than the Ben Johnson scheme; he expects low-end WR2 production with a ceiling of top-15 if things break right, but cautions fantasy managers to keep expectations in check given her efficiency drop-off from Carolina years.

Insight page
NegativeRole67:24

Referenced as a comp for how Nico Collins could dominate the Texans offense if healthy; Moore's role is characterized as soaking up the majority of targets with other receivers rotating behind him.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveValue38:44

Swift is coming off a very good year in the Bears offense. In the context of fourth-round running back options, Matt Harmon identifies Swift as the guy he feels best about after Javante Williams, suggesting he's a better fourth-round pick than some other running backs in the round. Harmon notes that receivers are much more palatable fourth-round picks than most of these running backs, but Swift is the exception.

Insight page

Dak Prescott

NegativeValue62:51

Dak Prescott is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page
PositiveProjection64:07

Matt Harmon likes Dak Prescott's value in the mid-round range, projecting him as a potential top-10 fantasy quarterback and solid starter, and prefers this quarterback value over chasing running backs in the same area.

Insight page

Dalton Kincaid

PositiveProjection44:56

Matt Harmon expresses renewed optimism about Dalton Kincaid in the Bills offense after being skeptical following last year's injury-plagued finish. He suggests Kincaid could be a strong contributor in the Joe Brady scheme and notes he may have drafted him in the mock draft.

Insight page

Dalvin Cook

NegativeProjection19:36

Difficult to build on prior-year production; less ceiling upside compared to late-first-round targets like Justin Jefferson.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeDepth Chart40:28

Selected in round five of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0.

Insight page
NegativeValue48:00

Matt Harmon mentioned David Montgomery as an example of a running back he expected to acquire late in the draft as a value pick, but was sniped one pick before his selection, illustrating the scarcity of late-round running back value in this mock draft.

Insight page

Derrick Henry

NegativeRole40:01

Henry was selected as the second running back in a robust RB-heavy mock draft build, following James Cook. The team went three running backs in the first four rounds (Cook, Henry, and Breece Hall) before pivoting to tight end and receiver, demonstrating Henry's value in early-round RB stacking strategies.

Insight page

DK Metcalf

NegativeValue62:51

DK Metcalf is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeValue24:01

Matt Harmon admits to drafting Drake London fourth overall in the second round despite ranking Nico Collins higher and having debated the two receivers as nearly equivalent on a recent podcast. Harmon regrets the pick, noting that London's current quarterback situation is now uncertain with Matt Ryan potentially starting due to injuries in Atlanta, and that he should have drafted Kenneth Walker instead.

Insight page
NegativeProjection26:26

Matt Harmon mentioned Drake London as an example of a player he drafted in a mock draft somewhat impulsively, acknowledging that sometimes picks happen due to draft flow rather than strict ranking adherence.

Insight page
NegativeRole67:00

Matt Harmon notes Drake London is part of the Texans receiver discussion; some analysts prefer Nico Collins over him, while others would pick London regardless, reflecting mixed opinions on his ranking relative to Collins.

Insight page

Drake Maye

NegativeDepth Chart47:30

Drake May was selected in the round discussed, part of a wave of quarterback selections alongside other positional picks.

Insight page

Garrett Wilson

PositiveValue39:00

Matt Harmon argues that Garrett Wilson is a better fourth-round pick than some of the running backs available in this round. He groups Wilson among receivers who are much more palatable fourth-round picks than most of the running backs, suggesting strong value at the position in this round.

Insight page

George Kittle

PositiveInjury1:30

George Kittle's recovery from injury has been going really well and he's being bumped up in rankings; once healthy, he's positioned to be a very strong fantasy contributor for the 49ers offense.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

NegativeDepth Chart40:28

Selected in round five of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0.

Insight page

Jalen Coker

NegativeRole7:00

Jalen Coker is viewed similarly to Teddy McMillan in the Panthers offense, with perhaps a very slight bump up in projection due to Brazel's injury opening more opportunities. However, the overall efficiency of the offense may decline without Brazel.

Insight page

James Cook

NegativeProjection9:30

James Cook is ranked as a late first-round pick (around 10th overall) but Justin Boone doesn't see a path to him delivering as a late first-rounder. Cook had 1,900 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns last year, but Boone thinks he could backslide this year and doesn't see how he can improve on that production. The Bills have the second-hardest fantasy schedule for running backs, with a tough start against Houston, Detroit, LA Chargers, and New England.

Insight page
NegativeMatchup10:50

James Cook faces a difficult early-season schedule with games against Houston (strong run defense), Detroit, LA Chargers, and New England. Against New England specifically, Cook had only 49 yards when Milton Williams played early in the season, but over 100 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns in the second half when Williams was out. The Patriots' improved run defense with Williams makes Cook's early-season outlook challenging.

Insight page
NegativeProjection12:00

James Cook was the RB6 in fantasy points per game last year with 1,900 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns. Boone questions whether Cook can top those numbers this year, especially with DJ Moore now in the offense potentially getting used out of the backfield and Josh Allen capable of stealing goal-line work. It's hard to view Cook doing better than last season.

Insight page
NegativeRole40:01

Cook was drafted early in one of the mock draft teams, which went on to build a total robust RB-heavy approach. Cook was the first running back selected for that team, followed by Derrick Henry and Breece Hall in the first four rounds. This team then pivoted to tight end (Colston Loveland) and receiver in later rounds, making it the only squad with no receivers through the first four rounds.

Insight page

Jameson Williams

PositiveProjection40:28

Jamison Williams quietly finished as wide receiver 18 last year, with some of that production tied to Sam Laporta's mid-season injury. He has begun to come into his own in the Lions offense, which Matt Harmon emphasizes as a team to target for roster pieces due to a great schedule and expected high scoring output. Harmon expresses enthusiasm about owning Lions players this season.

Insight page

Javonte Williams

PositiveValue38:57

Matt Harmon identifies Javante Williams as a rock solid fourth-round pick and the running back he feels best about in this round, ahead of other RB options like DeAndre Swift. Harmon also notes that receivers are much more palatable fourth-round picks than most of the running backs available, but Williams stands out as a strong RB value.

Insight page

Jayden Daniels

NegativeDepth Chart40:28

Selected in round five of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0.

Insight page

Jayden Higgins

NegativeValue62:51

Jaden Higgins is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page
PositiveProjection66:47

Produced at WR35 pace from week 10 onward last season with at least 50 yards and/or a touchdown in six of his last nine games. Even if he only achieves WR3 value in his current draft range, that represents a win; ceiling exists for significantly more production if opportunity expands.

Insight page
PositiveRole67:00

Benefiting from depth chart clarity with Tank Dell's injury status uncertain and Jalen Noel sidelined; his role is expanding with opportunity to cement himself as the primary wide receiver. If Nico Collins gets hurt, Higgins could be thrust into a significantly larger role.

Insight page
PositiveSleeper67:21

Underrated prospect receiving minimal hype despite strong late-season production and favorable depth chart situation. Matt Harmon notes he should be getting talked about more; there's no hype on Higgins currently, making him a potential value target in his draft range.

Insight page
NegativeRole68:29

Played significant X receiver snaps in his first season; player comparison tool shows comps ranging from Kenny Galladay (rookie) to Adam Thielen, Jawan Jennings, and Tim Patrick. Matt Harmon sees him more as a supersized Z receiver and believes his film was stronger when playing that position.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

NegativeValue62:51

Jaden Reed is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page
PositiveValue65:48

Matt Harmon considers Jaden Reed a good value in the eighth round, though he couldn't afford another receiver pick in his draft; Reed projects well and offers solid eighth-round value.

Insight page

Jaylen Warren

NegativeDepth Chart47:05

Jalen Warren was selected in the round discussed, part of a mixed group of running backs, receivers, and tight ends.

Insight page

Jeremiyah Love

NegativeProjection26:56

Jeremiah Love was selected in the third round of the Yahoo staff mock draft.

Insight page

Joe Burrow

NegativeDepth Chart47:05

Joe Burrow was selected early in the Yahoo staff mock draft, opening the round with a quarterback selection.

Insight page

Jonathan Taylor

PositiveProjection13:00

Jonathan Taylor is ranked ahead of James Cook by Boone; he's viewed as a better bet for consistency and delivering a higher-end outcome than Cook this year.

Insight page

Jonathon Brooks

PositiveBreakout57:37

Matt Harmon likes Jonathan Brooks and is open to him having a breakout season; however, he notes the hype train has left the station with Brooks now going in the seventh round, a significant ADP rise from when he was around the hundredth overall pick. Harmon acknowledges Brooks has a very high ceiling and could take over the Panthers backfield without injury, making him the most exciting running back in that range, but emphasizes the value proposition has deteriorated. He expects Brooks to be drafted ahead of Chuba Hubbard very soon as people chase the narrative and highlights.

Insight page

Josh Allen

NegativeProjection27:03

Josh Allen was selected in the third round of the Yahoo staff mock draft.

Insight page

Josh Jacobs

PositiveValue27:28

Matt Harmon identifies Josh Jacobs as a second-round talent being drafted in the third round of mock drafts, suggesting significant ADP discount relative to his tier.

Insight page
PositiveValue29:18

Josh Jacobs has been a very solid top-10 fantasy running back the last two seasons. Despite an open investigation with potential punishment coming, Matt Harmon views getting him in the third round as an absolute steal if he's able to play the full year.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveProjection14:10

Justin Jefferson stands out in the late first round; last year appears to be an outlier due to poor quarterback play and offensive line injuries that caused the offense to fall apart. If Kyler Murray provides better quarterback play, Jefferson could easily deliver top-five WR value or even finish as the number one fantasy receiver this year, making him a ceiling pick worth chasing late in the first round.

Insight page
PositiveProjection19:14

Late first-round pick with ceiling to deliver top-five receiver value or finish as the number-one fantasy receiver this year; potential bounce-back candidate if Kyler Murray provides improved quarterback play compared to prior seasons.

Insight page

Kenneth Gainwell

NegativeRole49:10

Boone noted that Kenny Gainwell could limit Bucky Irving's passing game work in the Buccaneers offense, though he still views Irving as the RB1 in Tampa and the round 6 selection as acceptable given the improved offensive line.

Insight page

Kenneth Walker III

PositiveValue24:23

Matt Harmon was tempted to draft Kenneth Walker fourth overall in the second round but talked himself out of it at the last minute, a decision he regrets. Harmon views Walker as a strong second-round target and believes taking him would have been the correct move over Drake London.

Insight page

Khalil Shakir

NegativeRole44:55

Matt Harmon characterizes Khalil Shakir as a nice complementary piece in the Bills offense but explicitly states he is not the number-one receiver, positioning him below DJ Moore in the receiving hierarchy.

Insight page

Kyle Pitts

NegativeValue62:51

Kyle Pitts is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placing him in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page

Kyren Williams

NegativeProjection26:56

Kyron Williams was selected in the third round of the Yahoo staff mock draft.

Insight page

Lamar Jackson

NegativeDepth Chart40:28

Selected in round five of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0.

Insight page

Marvin Harrison Jr.

NegativeProjection59:32

Matt Harmon reports mixed signals from Cardinals camp: some beat writers say Harrison Jr. looks fine, but social media montages show him dropping passes in practice. Harmon notes the drops appear to stem from inaccurate passes from the quarterback (including one from Brissette that was behind Harrison Jr. and may not even chart as a drop), not necessarily a mechanical issue with Harrison Jr. himself. He does not believe the practice drops warrant rank adjustments and considers the concern overblown by social media aggregators.

Insight page
PositiveRole60:36

Matt Harmon notes that social media focuses on drop clips, but beat writers' actual practice footage shows Harrison running open and making great catches; the LaFleur offense is scheming receivers open effectively, which fits Harrison well. Harmon expresses being "Cardinals curious" about Harrison's upside given the improved offensive scheme and open receivers at practice.

Insight page

Michael Pittman

NegativeValue62:51

Michael Pittman is selected in round eight of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0, placed in the veteran zone where draft strategy shifts toward picking preferred players rather than chasing ADP.

Insight page

Michael Wilson

PositiveRole60:36

Matt Harmon highlights Michael Wilson alongside Marvin Harrison Jr. as benefiting from the LaFleur offensive scheme; beat writers' practice footage shows Wilson making great catches and getting open, fitting well with the new offensive system that schemes receivers open more effectively than the previous Cardinals offense.

Insight page

Mike Evans

NegativeInjury4:20

Mike Evans has dealt with hamstring injuries in six straight seasons, making it unlikely he'll be an iron man contributor. This extensive injury history increases the degree of difficulty for the 49ers offense and elevates the value of other receiving options.

Insight page
PositiveProjection40:28

Mike Evans, as long as he stays healthy, can deliver top-24 receiver numbers and has wide receiver one ceiling in any given week due to touchdown scoring. In a new offense where he will be the clear number one receiver, Matt Harmon suggests he could replicate Devontae Adams' massive touchdown total from last year, positioning him as an exciting pick in round five.

Insight page

Nico Collins

PositiveValue24:01

Matt Harmon ranks Nico Collins higher than Drake London in his personal rankings and preferred Collins in a recent on-air debate comparing the two receivers. In the mock draft, Collins was selected eighth overall in the second round, two picks after London, aligning with Harmon's stated preference.

Insight page
PositiveRole66:57

Matt Harmon notes Nico Collins is a strong receiver in the Texans depth chart; some analysts prefer him over Drake London, though opinions vary on the ranking between the two.

Insight page
NegativeRole67:19

Positioned as the potential center of the Texans offense; if healthy and on the field, he could soak up the majority of targets and opportunities, with other receivers rotating behind him—similar to DJ Moore's role in his offense.

Insight page

Omarion Hampton

PositiveProjection21:07

Expected to return round-one value alongside Chase Brown; strong enough prospect that speaker has taken him in some drafts despite ranking Chase Brown ahead, to balance backfield exposure.

Insight page
NegativeProjection25:42

Matt Harmon selected O'Marion Hampton as an alternative to Chase Brown in a draft, citing similar tier and projection levels between the two running backs.

Insight page

Parker Washington

NegativeValue50:15

Matt Harmon groups Parker Washington with Brian Thomas Jr., Roma Dunze, and Carnell Tate as receivers in the same tier, indicating they are similarly valued prospects in the draft.

Insight page

Rashee Rice

NegativeValue27:12

Matt Harmon views Rasheed Rice as a second-round talent falling to the third round in mock drafts. Rice has top-10 fantasy receiver upside when healthy; he posted top-five per-game production last year, top-six in 2024 before injury, and top-15 over his final 10 games as a rookie. Harmon acknowledges off-field and injury risk but emphasizes Rice's scheme fit with Mahomes and consistent elite efficiency, making him undervalued at current third-round ADP.

Insight page
NegativeRole29:42

Training camp reports heavily featured fifth-round pick Cyrus Allen as a threat to Rasheed Rice's target share. Matt Harmon downplays the concern for redraft, saying barring injury or another off-field situation, Rice's role is not much of a worry. However, in dynasty, Harmon notes Rice's long-term outlook with the Chiefs is in question, making Allen a potential successor.

Insight page

Ricky Pearsall

NegativeInjury0:16

Ricky Pearsall aggravated a PCL injury at 49ers camp that he played through all of last season without surgery; knee swelling has returned and the 49ers are preparing for him to miss the entire 2026 season. Matt Mayocko reported the team could reasonably not expect Pearsall to make any contribution in 2026, making surgery now season-ending.

Insight page
PositiveProjection0:43

Before the injury, Pearsall showed strong ceiling in the 49ers offense; in six games where he wasn't limited by injury last season, four were top-24 fantasy WR performances. Late-season production included 96 yards and 85 yards in fantasy playoff weeks, demonstrating what could have been with a healthy season playing across from Mike Evans.

Insight page

RJ Harvey

NegativeRole63:30

Matt Harmon suggests RJ Harvey has a capped ceiling in his role; even an injury ahead of him may not unlock a bigger workload, limiting his fantasy upside relative to other bench options.

Insight page
NegativeRole63:35

Boone notes that running backs in round eight range typically need an injury ahead of them to get a bigger workload; in RJ Harvey's specific case, Boone suggests there's a cap ceiling on his upside and that even an injury may not matter for his fantasy value, implying limited path to significant playing time.

Insight page

Sam LaPorta

NegativeDepth Chart47:30

Sam Laporta was taken in round 6 of the Yahoo staff mock draft, part of a wave of tight end selections in that round.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

PositiveValue20:00

Early second-round pick; barring injury, represents solid value in a strong round of running backs and receivers.

Insight page

Sean Tucker

NegativeRole48:00

Matt Harmon cited Sean Tucker's return as a key reason for limiting Bucky Irving's ceiling; with Tucker back, Harmon does not project Irving as a top-10 RB or RB1, instead viewing him as a top-24 option with limited upside.

Insight page

Tank Dell

NegativeInjury66:27

Not placed on PUP list despite significant injury recovery; still a ways from returning to pre-injury form with no guarantees he'll be available week one. Dealing with a serious injury that complicates his timeline.

Insight page
NegativeInjury67:11

Matt Harmon notes that Tank Dell was not placed on PUP (Physically Unable to Perform), which was surprising; however, he remains a ways from returning to his pre-injury form with no guarantees of recovery.

Insight page

Tee Higgins

PositiveValue65:57

Matt Harmon highlights Tee Higgins as an intriguing eighth-round pick, noting that people aren't talking about him as much as they should be relative to other receiver names getting more attention in the draft.

Insight page

Tony Pollard

NegativeDepth Chart47:30

Tony Pollard was selected in the round discussed, part of a mixed group of running backs, receivers, and tight ends.

Insight page

Travis Kelce

NegativeValue28:15

Kelce was a top-six fantasy receiver on a per-game basis last year and top-15 at the position over his final 10 games even going back to his rookie season. Matt Harmon views him as a massive value in the current market because the Chiefs didn't bring in real competition to take away from him; as long as he and Mahomes are on the field, the upside is significant. The risk is off-field issues and injuries recurring, but Harmon is willing to take that risk from the third round onward given Kelce's ceiling at the position.

Insight page

Trey McBride

NegativeValue38:35

McBride fell to the fourth round in this mock, going only a few spots ahead of Colston Loveland. Matt Harmon observes that people in general might be down on the Cardinals offense, which could explain why McBride is falling despite his strong season last year. Harmon suggests it's very possible that Loveland and McBride flip in ADP, which would have been unexpected given McBride's previous production.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

NegativeDepth Chart47:30

Tucker Craft was taken in round 6 of the Yahoo staff mock draft, part of a wave of tight end selections in that round.

Insight page

Tyler Warren

NegativeDepth Chart40:28

Selected in round five of the Yahoo staff mock draft 2.0.

Insight page

Zay Flowers

NegativeProjection27:03

Zay Flowers was selected in the third round of the Yahoo staff mock draft.

0:00Big show for you here today, Justin Boone joins me to recap our latest staff mock draft.
0:05We go through the first 10 rounds in depth.
0:07Most intriguing pick, Reaches. Who are we concerned about with some of these picks?
0:11Speaking of concern, we do have to start the show off with some injury news.
0:16Ricky Pearsall, oh man, Ricky Pearsall injured at 49ers camp.
0:18His season potentially looking in doubt, plus some news out of the Carolina receiving room.
0:23All that and more coming off on today's show.
0:25Let's get into it. What's going on, everyone? I'm Matt Harmon.
0:28Welcome to the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast. And it is a hell of a day to talk ball and joining me to do just that.
0:35It's all I'm not too long ago at the Fantasy Football Expo.
0:39It is my good friend, my guy, Justin Boone.
0:41Boone, what's going on, man? How you doing? There's a little piece of me that's like sad that we're back to just
0:47the video version of this after getting to hang out a little bit last weekend.
0:52But so it is. It's fine. And we got plenty to talk about, man.
0:56This week, a lot of news coming in with everybody in training camp.
0:59Some things that I think we already can feel pretty good about from talking through them all offseason.
1:04Some things that, Harmon, we might have been a little misguided on and we're going to have to adjust here on the fly.
1:11But there's still a lot of time to do that.
1:14The main draft season is kind of in a couple weeks here.
1:17And we still have, what, six weeks before the actual season kicks off.
1:21So a lot of time to make adjustments to the rankings, the projections and to some of the articles that we've already written that will need some updating.
1:29Man, I was not ready for just the reality of training camps opening up, just smacking me in the face this week.
1:35Not just even the work part of it, but, you know, opening up your Twitter timeline and so many things are happening.
1:41And unfortunately, one of those things is also injuries.
1:44Boone and I are going to go through our round by round recap of our most recent mock draft.
1:49So we're going to hit on a ton of stuff today on the show.
1:53But before we get into that, unfortunately, we do have to start with a little fantasy fallout here with a couple of pretty significant wide receiver injuries.
2:01The first one of which is a situation that is still developing here.
2:05We don't quite know what's going on. But Ricky Pearsall had some knee swelling, essentially aggravate the PCL injury that he played
2:11with and tried to play through last year that was dogging him basically all of last year.
2:16And now Matt Mayocko, who's covered the San Francisco 49ers forever, says that the 49ers could be preparing for Ricky Pearsall to miss the entire season.
2:23He said, quote, I think it's reasonable, rational, logical for the 49ers to not expect Ricky Pearsall to make any contribution in 2026.
2:30So what essentially happened here, folks at home, is that Ricky Pearsall never had surgery on that PCL injury that was a big problem for him last year.
2:38Again, he tried to just kind of gut it through during the season.
2:41He was on and off, and he aggravated. He tried to not have surgery on it, and he experienced knee swelling at the start of training camp.
2:49It's kind of been bothering him all offseason. So now, essentially, he has to decide, if I get the surgery now, 2026,
2:55the season is over before it even starts here for Ricky Pearsall.
2:59So it is July 30th, Boone. And the Niners not only are also dealing with an injury to the serious one of
3:05Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, who they signed as a free agent, is also hurt.
3:09Jordan James, their backup running back, is also dealing with an injury.
3:12So what's old is new again. The 49ers are dealing with injuries.
3:16Where are you at with Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk, and what's going on in the 49ers wide receiver room?
3:21I mean, I guess we shouldn't be surprised by this, like you're alluding to there, right?
3:26The 49ers just injuries every single year. But the Pearsall one, it's such a gut punch.
3:30You feel so bad for the guy. And again, we don't want to, you know, eulogize him here.
3:35His career still has a long way to go.
3:38He can still rebound from this and be a great NFL player and a great fantasy asset.
3:43But man, I was looking back at like last season and some of the things he was doing right.
3:48Starting with the back-to-back 100-yard games or two in the first three weeks there.
3:52Gets the injury, comes back, takes a little time to get going.
3:55But late in the season, puts up a couple really solid stat lines.
3:5996 yards in one game. 85 yards in another during the fantasy playoffs.
4:03And it just leaves you thinking like, what could be with this guy?
4:07Even entering this season, it was like, this could be a really great offense.
4:11It still could be. And playing across from Mike Evans, we could see a breakout from him.
4:15Like if you look at just what he did last year, the four times, or sorry, the six appearances that he had
4:22where he wasn't limited due to injury. Four of those games, he was a top 24 fantasy wide out in those weeks.
4:28Like he showed that ceiling. And now there's a really good chance that we're not going to get to see it this year.
4:34So it's awful for him. We wish him the best.
4:37It makes you wonder what we can expect from this offense.
4:40Like you said, Christian Kirk, I think it's a calf injury for him.
4:44So how will that impact him? Will he be able to get back out there and contribute to this offense?
4:50Could they look to the free agent market where I know Kyle Juszczyk, George Kittle, they've been lobbying a little bit to
4:56maybe get Debo Samuel back in the building. He's still out there.
4:59And even George Kittle himself. I've talked about him on the show as somebody that I kind of keep bumping up my
5:06rankings and we don't know exactly when he's going to be back, but it sounds like his recovery has been going really well.
5:12This just kind of puts him back in position to, once he's healthy, be a very strong fantasy contributor.
5:18So overall, I think the 49ers offense will be fine.
5:20But what an incredible asset that Pierce saw could have been for them this season.
5:25And now it looks like that's not going to happen.
5:28Absolutely brutal. I thought to myself, you know, today, does it get to a point where the Niners like send a you up text to Brandon Iuke?
5:35Probably not. I don't think they'll ever get that desperate.
5:38But he is theoretically on the roster. Not even theoretically.
5:41Like, he is on the roster. So it's a thing.
5:44But that's how bad the situation has gotten here from an injury standpoint.
5:47That the impossible, I thought for, you know, two and a half seconds might be possible.
5:52But yeah, for Ricky Pierce, it really stinks. Obviously, clearly a good player.
5:56Anybody with eyeballs can tell he's a good player.
5:58But it's the guy who did not miss a single game due to injury in his college career boon.
6:04And now it's just been like one thing after another in the NFL really stinks.
6:08I'm curious, have you considered or will you be or have you bumped Dazon Stribbling up the rankings here?
6:13Because I'll just say, man, he's a player I'm really intrigued by.
6:17Even before the NFL draft, like I think and it's weird how like much he gets posted about on social media.
6:23The aggregators are all there on Stribbling Island for sure.
6:25Funny enough, my Dazon Stribbling breakdown on my personal YouTube channel is my most viewed video of all time.
6:31So random. But there's real thirst about the Stribbling information because he was such a shocking pick.
6:36But I think he's I think he's a quality prospect was a day two guy.
6:40He goes on day two and reports have been positive on him so far.
6:44So where do you stand on Stribbling right now?
6:46So I'm working on a rankings update right now.
6:49It'll probably come out early next week. Maybe we'll see if we can get it done by the weekend.
6:54But a lot of changes. I normally wait until the first couple of days of camp go by because we find out
7:01about a lot of this news and then we have to update from there.
7:05But Stribbling right now, to me, you move him up into like the wide receiver for flex kind of range.
7:10And there is certainly some upside there. On top of the fact that Mike Evans has quite that extensive injury history, right?
7:17He's got to try to avoid another hamstring issue.
7:19I think it's been six straight seasons where he's had some sort of hamstring injury that he's dealt with.
7:25So it's not exactly like Mike Evans is going to be this Iron Man out there.
7:29George Kittle, we talked about the injury. There's so many guys hurt that we could see truly end up being the guy in this offense.
7:36I think Purdy's a great quarterback. I think he is really, really good.
7:40He's very good for fantasy. We've seen him produced as a QB one now on a per game basis for three straight seasons.
7:46But this is going to increase the degree of difficulty if we continue to deal with these injuries.
7:52And it makes that Stribbling pick look quite smart now because I think he is going to be a huge contributor for them.
7:58And I think he's somebody that we have to be targeting in fantasy.
8:02I'm curious to see how far, how fast the ADP rises because it's going to go up very quick.
8:07Like you said, the amount of hype that he was getting before this, let alone now after the Pearsall thing wouldn't shock
8:13me if he goes even higher than how I'm talking about him here.
8:17But for me in the rankings, I'm looking at him, you know, wide receiver for wide receiver flex range.
8:22How about you? Yeah. To me, it's dribbling is draftable in all formats.
8:26I think he was pretty close to being draftable in all formats before even before the Pearsall injury.
8:31Just because I really don't. And we'll see what happens with Christian Kirk.
8:35But I think there's a chance Kirk's just like not a meaningful contributor to this team.
8:40And like he was going to be the third receiver anyways, which is on dribbling.
8:44But he'll be fascinated track like with fantasy ADP and everything because he is a guy and you know, in fairness, Pearsall
8:50was one of these players too that doesn't check out in like the pure spreadsheet prospecting.
8:55Stribbling doesn't check those boxes. Then again, neither did Pearsall and he's turned into a quality player when healthy.
9:00But right now, like in my dynasty rankings, I have a tool on the site for this.
9:05I have 26 and a half spots ranked ahead of the market right now because I am a sellout Boone.
9:11I gave you all that fluff about the market last year and now I'm a sellout and I'm comparing my rankings to
9:17the market because that's what you do. Anyways, I'm pretty high on stribbling, specifically how he works on in-breaking routes, which are the key routes in this offense.
9:25I mean, when I saw Purdy connecting with Ayuk on those big like dig routes and out cuts, that was when I
9:31was like, oh yeah, he's going to the moon in 2023.
9:34And same with Pearsall. They had a really good connection on those routes.
9:38So I do think stribbling on the dig routes, the slants, the key routes in this offense, he's a verifiable and maybe
9:44just like an obvious sleeper now at this point to be a fantasy contributor.
9:48But let's, speaking of rookie receivers, go down to Carolina where we got some more unfortunate news for a guy that probably
9:54wasn't on the fantasy draftable radar, at least for now.
9:57But I do think this is a pretty big injury here.
10:00The Panthers, who have had just rotten luck with injuries to start their training camp, they found out that Chris Brazel, according
10:06to Joe Person, who's covered the team forever, he reported that the Panthers are going to lose Chris Brazel, their rookie receiver for the season.
10:14He's undergoing season-ending LCL surgery after receiving a second opinion after he aggravated that injury in training camp.
10:19So no Brazel here, Boone, which again, Brazel was a guy that we weren't drafting in fantasy, but loses a little bit of potential potency to the offense.
10:27And critically, I think this decreases the odds that they are able to pull off the slot work that they wanted to get with Teddero McMillan this year.
10:35I think his slot rate will go up because he ranked 101st out of 117 receivers who ran 200 or more routes in slot rate last year.
10:42I still think they'll get more than the 15%.
10:45But I think Brazel being out as the kind of sacrificial X decreases the odds that McMillan can get into the 25% range.
10:51Maybe they can still get there. I'm a little skeptical of that.
10:55But that is definitely an impediment to McMillan's upside.
10:57Because if he could have been like a 30 plus percent slot player, even with Bryce Young and quarterback, that's enough for
11:04him as talented as he is to get into kind of the, not the Drake London range maybe, but like the poor man's Drake London range in fantasy.
11:12I'm not willing to completely write that possibility off.
11:14Like, I think the efficiency of the offense might go down because now we're going to have to have someone else out
11:20there instead of getting Brazel, who again, I wasn't that high on as a prospect.
11:25And like you're saying, it's not really moving the needle too much for fantasy.
11:29Still looking at McMillan, very similar to how I had him still looking at Jalen Coker about the same, if not maybe
11:35even getting a slight bump up, very slight, but maybe a little bump up in terms of his projection.
11:40But yeah, this one is to me just more unfortunate for Dynasty.
11:44I know a lot of people like Brazel as a late second, third round pick and rookie drafts.
11:49I wasn't really taking him much this year. I don't normally go after receivers once we get to like the third round
11:55because it's very difficult to hit on those guys.
11:58We remember the ones that do it, but a lot of those receivers just kind of become depth pieces in the NFL
12:04and don't really make a difference on your Dynasty roster.
12:07So this one, I don't have that much to add on it.
12:10It's too bad a young player going to have to delay his launch for his career.
12:15Doesn't really, in my mind, change much for fantasy.
12:17But yes, does take a little excitement away from this Panthers offense because Bryce Young, I think at this point, needs every
12:23potential pass catching weapon that he can get in order to maximize what he can do in the NFL.
12:29And this takes away kind of the ideal way that they were planning to deploy that offense.
12:34Right. And yeah, I mean, for Brazel himself, you really hit on it.
12:37This is this was a raw player coming into the NFL needed a year of development that he is now going to lose.
12:44And that's a bummer. So hopefully Xavier Leggett can be the best version of himself because he's now clearly going to be the wide receiver three.
12:51But even that, like I've had people reach out, well, can't they just use Xavier Leggett as the sacrificial X?
12:57Xavier Leggett was he was he was promoted into the extra receiver role after they traded Deontay Johnson in 20 in 2024.
13:03Yes, that is a thing that happened. Deontay Johnson did once play for the Panthers.
13:07I know we've all forgotten that. I try to.
13:10Anyways, they traded Deontay Johnson. They made Xavier Leggett the X and it did not go well in the back half his
13:16rookie year, which is why they've kind of continued to change and alter his role.
13:20So Coker, obviously, yeah, he's the biggest thing like to make the McMillan 25 to 30 percent slot rate happen.
13:26And he's still great and he's still going to be a stud this year.
13:30But I do think this dampens the true upside case of McMillan getting really high in the slot percentage.
13:36I do think that dampens it a little bit because this was their plan for Brazel.
13:40But we'll move on here. We'll get into our mock draft.
13:43And man, this was a fun one to go through.
13:46I will just say right now, hated this team, did not like the way this draft came out for me.
13:52So that's fine. But we'll get into it anyways.
13:54We're going to go round by round and offer our general takes.
13:58Just kind of look at the most intriguing picks in each round as well.
14:02So let's start off with the first round of this one.
14:05We're going to show the results on the screen here.
14:08Number one overall, no surprise, Jameer Gibbs, Bijon Robinson goes second, Jamar Chase, Puka Nakua, Jackson Smith and Jigba, Christian McCaffrey, James Cook.
14:14At seventh overall, Amon Ross St. Brown, Jonathan Taylor, Ashton Gentia, 10, CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson to round out the first round.
14:21Any thoughts? What sticks out with you in the first round here?
14:24Normally, you know, I wrote up the mock draft takeaways for this one.
14:28I often do that for Yahoo. I quite enjoy it.
14:31And normally the first round, you don't have that much to say.
14:34We have to. And I heard the inflection of your voice change a little.
14:38The James Cook pick is maybe a couple spots earlier than usual here, right?
14:42Um, I just, I don't see it. I don't see the path to him really delivering as the 107 as a late first.
14:49That's fine. We saw what he did last year, right?
14:51Over 1900 scrimmage yards, 14 touchdowns. He has a good ceiling in this Bill's offense, but can he actually have a path
14:58to get up into the range where he's going to be like worthy of a top five pick, which I think you want somebody like that.
15:05If you're picking them in the middle of the first round, I don't see it.
15:09If anything, I could see him backslide a little bit this year.
15:13Right. And one of the biggest reasons and surprise, surprise.
15:16I'm going to talk about schedule for me is the fact that they have the second hardest fantasy schedule for running backs this year.
15:22But man, Harmon, the way they start the year at Houston, we know how good that defense is versus the lions.
15:28Okay. Versus the chargers and versus the Patriots. Like that is a pretty tough start talking about going to get up against
15:35some of the best run defenses out there. And if anybody wants to point to the fact that he had a pretty
15:41good game last year against new England in the second half of the season at over a hundred scrimmage yards, he scored three touchdowns.
15:48That was when Milton Williams was not out there in the game where Milton Williams played early in the season.
15:53Cook only had 49 yards in that one. So it's a much different defense as we saw in the second half of
16:00the year last year for the Patriots when they have their best run defender out there.
16:04So for me, Cook's not somebody that I'm willing to take ahead of his ADP.
16:08And that was the only one I think in the first round that was really pretty surprising to me.
16:14Yeah. Interesting. You kind of share the sentiments that Hayden had on the show earlier this week about this being a little early for James Cook.
16:21Where do you have him ranked overall right now?
16:24Don't have it in front of me. It would be like I said, it's late first.
16:28Let me pull it up here. Yeah, I do have it.
16:31I will just say like guys like Jonathan Taylor for sure.
16:34I have ahead of him a Munra St. Brown.
16:37Like I think those guys are better bets in terms of consistency and better bets in terms of just delivering a higher
16:43end outcome than Cook this year with the fact that DJ Moore is there now.
16:48Right. We're going to see DJ Moore potentially get used a little bit out of the backfield.
16:52Josh Allen always capable of putting up like a spiked season where he's stealing a lot of goal line work.
16:58So it's hard to view Cook doing better than what he did last year.
17:02And last year, he was the RV six in terms of fantasy points per game among running backs.
17:07Right. So that's the reason to me that do you think he's going to do better than last season?
17:13You think he's going to top 1900 scrimmage yards and 14 touchdowns?
17:16That is a pretty lofty total to get ahead of here.
17:19I have him at the 110. I have him 10th overall.
17:22So like I said, a few spots behind and near the end of the end of the first round.
17:28But these things really matter in the first round to like get these picks right.
17:32You obviously want to get your team off on a strong start here.
17:36And yeah, again, I don't have him dramatically. We're talking about that.
17:39He goes seventh here. I have him as the ninth pick, and I just wouldn't have taken him ahead of Jonathan Taylor or Amon Ross St.
17:46Brown, and I actually have Jackson Smith and Jigba ranked eighth behind both Taylor and St.
17:51Brown as well. Not that I'm out on JSN.
17:53I just think like, man, St. Brown has a chance to just go.
17:57I think the Lions offense has a chance to go completely nuclear, which is why Gibbs is my number one overall player.
18:03He goes number one overall here. Ultimately, I just really want to be attached to that offense.
18:08So I'm very, very high on St. Brown this year.
18:11I would have gone with him ahead of James Cook.
18:14But I do think Cook's pass catching upside, which we talked about that with Zane.
18:18A couple of weeks ago on the show here and some of the reports from training camp about him being used more in the past.
18:25Again, we'll see if that's true. It could be nothing.
18:28But I at least want to acknowledge that. Anything else that stands out here to you in the first round before we go to round two?
18:35Well, I will say to tease it out a little bit that the Cook team actually, to me, ends up being one
18:42of the more interesting teams in this draft. And we'll talk about it a little later when we get deeper into the
18:48draft to see how that build goes. But even though that first pick might have been a bit of a reach, it's
18:54a very interesting roster that gets put together on that Cook team there.
18:58Other than that, nothing really crazy. Like I said, I think Justin Jefferson is somebody that kind of stands out in the
19:04late first round because we know the upside. And last year seems to be the outlier, the poor quarterback play, the offensive
19:10line injuries, just that offense kind of falling apart as the year went along.
19:14But if you go back to the years before that, he was an outstanding fantasy receiver.
19:19And could we see him just bounce back this year?
19:22If Kyler Murray can come in, potentially give them a little better quarterback play.
19:26Justin Jefferson's the kind of pick late in the first round that we could easily see him deliver top five value.
19:32We could easily see him finish as the number one fantasy receiver this year.
19:36So I would rather chase someone like that where I can see that ceiling.
19:40I can see the huge season from him where Cook, I think it's going to be difficult for him to build on what he did last year.
19:47I think that makes a lot of sense to me.
19:50I'm definitely going to be kind of in this same range with Justin Jefferson as well.
19:55Okay, let's get to the second round here. Starts off with Saquon Barkley, who Hayden Winks takes Saquon Barkley, the first pick
20:01in the second round after he and Josh were talking about Saquon on our last episode.
20:06Then it goes Chase Brown, Omarian Hampton, Drake London, Devon A.
20:09Chan, Derek Henry, Kenneth Walker, Nico Collins, George Pickens, Brock Bowers, A.J.
20:12Brown, Devontae Smith. A lot of good picks here, Boone.
20:15Any thoughts on the round two and how this played out?
20:18I think barring injury, you really can't go wrong this round.
20:21Look at the names here, right? The running backs are solid.
20:24The receivers are solid. Brock Bowers, such a cool pick in the second round this year.
20:29I was on with Ian Harditz last week and Harditz was joking that maybe Brock Bowers is this year's JSN.
20:35I think he was joking, but it might not even have been a joke because he actually could be that kind of player.
20:41He could be the rare tight end where he's giving you top five fantasy receiver numbers by the end of this year.
20:47So that's a great pick. And I don't know if we're naming everyone here who made the picks, but I believe producer
20:54Colin is the one who took Brock Bowers there.
20:56So we'll shout it out to producer Colin for taking Brock Bowers there.
21:00If we must. I made a pick here. My second pick, it was a weird.
21:04I know it's a mock. You and I joke about that.
21:07It shouldn't matter. But I did kind of weigh this one a little bit before I made it between Chase Brown and O'Meara and Hampton.
21:14I've had to make this decision quite a bit.
21:17I've had to kind of flip it, even though I have it ranked Chase Brown and O'Meara and Hampton.
21:22I've had to take Hampton in some drafts just to kind of keep it a little more even.
21:27So I'm not ending up with all the Chase Brown shares because to me, Chase Brown, absolute slam dunk.
21:33I really feel great about Hampton as well. I think the both these guys are going to return round one value.
21:39We've talked about Brown a few times on the show last like last year.
21:43I think we could put that early season stretch aside, right?
21:46We had the Joe Burrow injury. We had a tough schedule for him.
21:50Once we got Joe Flacco in there, kind of stabilizing things.
21:53Once we got Joe Burrow back, you look at the final 10 games of the season, right?
21:57This guy was producing like he was one of the top backs in the league.
22:02He can be a top five fantasy back. He has very little competition in that backfield.
22:06We have Joe Burrow recently talking him up, right?
22:09That he's a focal point of this offense. He's going to get a ton of volume and he was top five in terms of targets among running backs.
22:17He was top five in terms of receptions among running backs.
22:20He has that in his bag as well. And that's the kind of thing where if they have to go through another
22:26tough stretch and I think the start of this season, the schedule is a little bit difficult in the opening month for him.
22:33He has that pass catching ability. So he is going to be out there a ton.
22:37He is going to put up great stats and I think we're going to see him over the course of the full
22:43season as long as he stays healthy, be a very, very valuable fantasy piece this year.
22:48And I think one of the best second round picks, but I could see the exact same thing happen for Hampton.
22:54Yeah, I have these guys back to back in the rankings.
22:57I have Chase Brown one spot ahead. So I would have gone the way that you did there.
23:02I think it's just a little bit more of a proven commodity, right?
23:06When you're looking at Chase Brown, I think the pass catching everything that you mentioned there.
23:10So yeah, again, I really like a lot of the picks in this round.
23:14Derek Henry stands out to me as like still in a great spot.
23:18I mean, unbelievable. Like I don't really see any reason for him to decline.
23:22He was better last year on a yards after contact basis than he was the year prior.
23:27I think he's an amazing second round pick. I think almost all the receivers that go in this range, I'm probably not
23:33going to be the guy to take AJ Brown in the late second round.
23:37I think you should be a third rounder, but you know, you're, you're kind of splitting hairs there.
23:42I think it's probably fine. I will just cop to the fact, uh, Boone that you and I had this whole debate
23:49on the pod a couple of weeks ago about, about Drake.
23:52I didn't know if you were going to mention it.
23:54I didn't know if we're going to bring it up.
23:57I'm glad you are. We're going to, we're going to bring it up.
24:01You and I had this whole big debate about Drake London versus Nico Collins, uh, on the pod.
24:06And we both admitted it was very close and I have them, we've had them back and back around.
24:12He's blah, blah, blah, blah. You went with Drake London.
24:14I went with Nico Collins. I realized that in this draft, I took Drake London ahead of Nico Collins.
24:20I took Drake London with the fourth pick in the second round.
24:23Nico goes eighth. Um, you know, honestly, maybe just wasn't fully paying attention.
24:27I think honestly, what happened is that I really want to, I actually really wanted to take Kenneth Walker there.
24:33I was very tempted to take Kenneth Walker at that fourth pick in the second round.
24:37And I talked myself out of it like a coward at the last minute, which I ultimately ended up living to regret this picks.
24:44I got behind it running back. This is where I, I made my first mistake.
24:48I, I think this was an issue for my team later on.
24:52I should have just taken Walker. And then I was like, ah, crap.
24:55I'll just take London. I feel really secure about London to second round pick.
24:59And then realize I had gone against what I said on the show and gone against my own rankings, by the way,
25:06cause I do have Nico ranked higher than Drake London.
25:08And, and now Drake London's current quarterback might be Matt Ryan.
25:11Matt Ryan, the, the, the team president, because the quarterbacks in Atlanta are so injured right now.
25:16They signed Cooper rush this week in free agency.
25:19And yeah, there are videos from Falcons training camp of Matt Ryan throwing the looking pretty good, by the way, throwing the football.
25:25So, um, yeah, I just wanted to cop to the fact that, uh, I went against what I said on the show.
25:32I mean, well done by you to say that.
25:34And I'll just assume that it was because my argument was so persuasive that you changed your mind, but it sounds like maybe it was other reasons.
25:42I will also say too, because I think sometimes people call us on this, but sometimes we do pick against our rankings.
25:48And I mentioned a scenario where it happens just a second ago, right?
25:52Where I've taken so much chase Brown that now I'm in a draft and it's like, you know what?
25:57I probably shouldn't take chase Brown again. I don't need another share of him.
26:01I'm going to flip and I'm going to grab somebody else like an O'Marion Hampton.
26:05Those are just things that happen when you have guys in similar tiers and they have similar projections.
26:11So the people out there that sometimes we're in drafts and they're like, you took this guy.
26:15That wasn't what your ranking said it was going to be.
26:19Well, that's not how it works necessarily. Right. That's why we look at tears and things like that, because we're drafting off more than just our rankings.
26:26It's not that simple. Well, I know Boone's like a competitive psycho too.
26:30He probably wants to win every mock draft that he's in.
26:33A July mock draft is the perfect time to, you know, maybe test some theories, try some different things, you know, see how it plays out.
26:40Or, you know, you're, you're kind of doing multiple things at once and you're like, oh yeah, I got to make this pick here.
26:47I'll just take Drake London. You know, sometimes, sometimes there's that too, but we're going to take our first quick break.
26:53We come back, we're going to continue our mock draft recap.
26:56We're going to get into the third, fourth and fifth round.
26:59We'll get into those picks right after this. All right, we're back.
27:03Justin Boone and I are continuing to recap our latest staff mock draft here at Yahoo Fantasy.
27:08Let's get into the third round. Justin Boone, this is where things get a little bit interesting.
27:12Things start off with Chris Olave, first pick of the third round, Kyron Williams, Lad McConkie, Josh Jacobs, Jeremiah Love, Rasheed Rice, Brees Hall, Teddero McMillan, T Higgins.
27:20I don't know who made the T Higgins pick, but that guy's smart.
27:24Zay Flowers, Josh Allen and Malik Neighbors to finish out round three.
27:28What stands out with you here on this team?
27:30I mean, for me, it's the upside picks that have just so much risk, right?
27:34A lot of good guys in this round. But I look at Rasheed Rice.
27:38I look at Josh Jacobs and I don't see third round picks.
27:42I see guys that should be going in the second.
27:45And Rice, I mean, I think he's somebody that would flirt with the one to turn if he had absolutely no off
27:51field issues, no injury situations or anything like that.
27:53But we're getting them right now in the third round.
27:56And if you look at what Rice has done over the last couple of years, this guy can be a top 10 fantasy receiver when he stays healthy.
28:04He is now out of jail. He is back at camp.
28:07He's catching passes. But in the last few seasons, right, he has top five potential even.
28:12Top three fantasy receiver on a per game basis last year.
28:15Top six before getting hurt in 2024. Even if you go all the way back to his rookie season, he was top
28:2115 at the position over his final 10 games.
28:24Like he has just shown that we know he might not be doing it all on his own.
28:29Some of it is scheme. Some of it is Mahomes.
28:32But all those things are still going to be in play.
28:35And they didn't bring in really any other competition there that's going to take away from him.
28:40So as long as he is on the field, as long as Mahomes is on the field, and it looks like that's
28:46going to be the case, he is a massive value in my mind right now.
28:50And the risk just being that when we see a guy have a lot of off-field issues and we see injuries pop up, those things can occur again.
28:58But normally I'm willing to take the risk. A little less likely to take the risk in the first or second.
29:04But once we start getting to the third and later, I will take on that risk if I think the guy has
29:10that kind of ceiling at the position. So really like him.
29:13And then Josh Jacobs, another one where it still has an open investigation on him.
29:18We don't know what's going to happen there. There could be punishment coming down, but he's a player who has been a
29:24very solid top 10 fantasy running back the last two seasons.
29:27And to get him in the third round, if he's able to play this year for the full year, is just an absolute steal.
29:34Are you worried when it comes to Rasheed Rice, the fact that the overwhelming drumbeat, the massive drumbeat from training camp is that fifth round pick Cyrus Allen.
29:42Is about to take Rasheed Rice's lunch money. Are you worried about that?
29:46Can I just say before you answer that question, I try not to go on the for you page on Twitter sometimes because it can be a mess.
29:54The algorithm has been perfect this week. It's rage baiting me about something else that I know we're going to get to later in the show.
30:01But every time I pop on that for you page, the first like seven tweets, it's like, hey, this is for you, big boy.
30:08Cyrus Allen tearing it up in training camp. Not but like 24 hours after I joked that he was going to become
30:14the greatest receiver of all time with Josh and Hayden on the show earlier this week.
30:19So any reaction from you that Rasheed Rice, the era of him scamming targets is over because they got a real deal
30:25receiver there now in fifth round pick Cyrus Allen.
30:27Again, I think barring injury, barring another off field situation this year.
30:31No, I don't think it's much of a worry.
30:33But in terms of dynasty, I got a ton of shares of Allen now as well.
30:38Right. I was out there even after drafts where in shorter, you know, rookie drafts, he wasn't getting taken.
30:43And then it goes to the waiver wire and you have this like crazy bidding process where we're trying to get the remaining rookies.
30:50I was spending quite a bit of fab to try to get him on my rosters in some of those deeper leagues.
30:56And I'm happy to say that I did it.
30:59I think he's going to position himself now if he hasn't already to be the backup who's ready to go.
31:05If we see, you know, Rice do something again where he's going to miss time.
31:09But no, I think that's more of a dynasty scenario where Rice's long term outlook with the Chiefs is certainly in question in my mind.
31:16And I think that's where we start to consider Allen being the guy who could take over for him.
31:21Yeah, I mean, I think I'm like kidding sort of.
31:24I'm kind of kidding about what I about the way I framed that question to you.
31:29But yeah, I mentioned my dynasty rankings earlier. Cyrus Allen is the guy and I tweeted about this a few weeks ago before camp.
31:36He is the guy that I am most ahead of market on right now is Cyrus Allen, like 58 spots ahead of
31:42market on Cyrus Allen from a dynasty perspective, which sub six foot, 180 pound route running specialist.
31:47People are saying Matt Harmon may have fallen for it again.
31:50But, you know, also he's having a nice start to training camp.
31:53So it's at least worth filing it away. Well, we're talking about backups, too, with these guys.
31:58We should probably mention the Marshawn Lloyd of it all right.
32:01Marshawn Lloyd, a guy who hasn't been able to do much in his career so far due to injury.
32:06He's actually healthy at the moment. He's flashing a little bit in training camp, making some plays out there.
32:12If he can stay healthy, he's somebody that could potentially factor into that backfield as an intriguing change of pace guy.
32:18I don't think it would completely rob Jacobs of the ceiling that he would have, but it still would be something that
32:24we'd have to consider when looking at the projections and then knowing that if Lloyd were healthy, Jacobs is a guy that
32:30if he were to miss time, Lloyd potentially could be the one to step in because I think Chris Brooks is a
32:37nice player, but he's not someone that's going to get in there and get 20 touches in a game.
32:42He's just going to be part of what they do if the starter goes down.
32:46So Lloyd is the guy that if he can stay healthy, he could actually make some noise if he gets an opportunity.
32:52No, Lloyd is someone I took late in the Kings Classic draft at the Fantasy Football Expo, which that's a draft for sickos, a draft for lunatics.
33:00It's not a real league. I mean, it's a great league.
33:03I love playing in it, but yeah, you're going to pretty much draft anybody with a pulse.
33:08Cyrus Allen's going to go for $100 off the waiver wire after week one because he's got a pulse.
33:14So that's that league. Marshawn Lloyd, I'm invested in the Marshawn Lloyd situation.
33:17Something I actually truly unironically am invested in is the fact that Malik neighbor has got it.
33:22He's probably the most intriguing pick of this round.
33:25He goes with the final pick in round three.
33:27Look, he's avoided training camp PUP. Talked about that with Josh and Hayden on their show earlier this week as well.
33:33And ever since then, like we actually are getting some, you know, real deal routes that he's out there running a camp like he looks pretty good.
33:41I wouldn't say he looks like 100% Malik neighbors Boone just because 100% Malik neighbors looks even freakier than what you're seeing
33:47in some of these, you know, training camp videos.
33:50But have you reevaluated maybe some of the hesitancy that I know you and I both shared on neighbors prior to training camp?
33:56Yeah, I think we have to like based on what we heard all offseason based on the way he spoke earlier in the offseason.
34:03It seemed a little more negative. It seemed a little more like I'm going to have to be exactly 100% before I'm
34:09putting myself back out on that field. And again, is he 100%?
34:13We don't know that yet, right? He's trying to work his way back.
34:16Even he's trying to throw a little cold water on it, right?
34:20And say he doesn't have an exact return date set.
34:23And he's just trying to stack days here. But yes, we absolutely.
34:26He was going in like the fourth round. We're going to bump him up now.
34:30He is certainly a third round pick and somebody that could get to the two, three turn pretty quickly.
34:36There's a lot of other factors, a lot of other variables that have changed, though, in New York, right?
34:41In terms of a new coaching staff, new offense there, a bunch of new pass catchers that he's going to share the
34:47field with guys like Isaiah Likely and Darnell Mooney and some of these other players.
34:52So there's a lot of things that we're going to have to figure out over the next month.
34:57But yes, a healthy Malik neighbors has a chance to be a top five receiver in the league in real life and in fantasy.
35:03Can he get back there? We're probably not early in the season, even if he starts in week one.
35:09I don't know that we're going to see him at 100 percent health.
35:13But hey, the second half of the year, you got to feel really good about the fact that he could get back
35:19somewhere pretty close to that 100 percent version of him.
35:22And if you have that the second half of the season while having 80 percent of him in the first half of
35:28the season, that's an absolute win here, even at the end of the third round.
35:32So that is a great pick. And we will say that this mock happened before we got some of that news coming
35:38out that he was out at practice and some of these clips that we're seeing now.
35:43So it's worth mentioning that. But yeah, an absolute smash pick in the third round.
35:47Yeah, I'm 30th overall wide receiver 15. You know, and there's definitely ways to go up from there for sure.
35:53Yeah, look, I like the way you painted this, that when he says these things, this team says these things leading into
35:59they don't know like it's this is an inexact science here.
36:02So he might be feeling great now. He might be feeling even better in a couple of weeks, which he's feeling better
36:08now than he did probably a couple of weeks ago at the same time, though, you know, just because you see a
36:15guy running routes on social media does not mean they're like 100 percent in football shape and everything like that.
36:20I am the example I always come back to, unfortunately, is Tank Dell in his second season.
36:25I remember, you know, just constantly seeing great Instagram videos of him running routes and stuff.
36:30He gets on the field and he was not himself for quite some time before he then got hurt again.
36:35So ultimately we will see like neighbors still might miss, you know, week one.
36:39He still might miss a few games, but nothing but positive news right now.
36:43And I would totally green light him where he goes here at the end of the third round.
36:49But let's move this into the fourth round now where things continue to get pretty interesting.
36:53Starts off with Javante Williams, Jalen Waddle. We've got Trey McBride, Quinshon Judkins.
36:57That was my pick. I hated that one. That was that was the pick I hated so much.
37:02Travis Etienne, Colson Loveland, Emeka Ibuka, Cam Scadaboo, DeAndre Swift, Travion Henderson, Garrett Wilson and Terry McLaurin.
37:07I'll just say this here. After Javante Williams, I felt like there was a massive drop off at running back in this round.
37:13And I can I contributed to the pick of Quinshon Judkins, which, you know, looking back on it, even looking at my rankings, like, I don't know.
37:21Like, why did I take why did I take Judkins?
37:24Not that Judkins is a bad pick or anything like that.
37:27I just think he's more of a fifth rounder than a fourth rounder.
37:31I probably would have taken DeAndre. I should have taken maybe DeAndre Swift ahead of him.
37:35But all these backs, I think they're more almost all of them, except Williams, I think are more fifth rounders than fourth rounders.
37:42But at the same time, because I went receiver receiver in rounds two and three, I know personally, Boone, I felt like
37:48I had to get ahead of the like I had to get a running back here in round four.
37:53And I just didn't love feeling like that when I was on the board.
37:57Yeah. And that's why we've talked a lot this year about how you got to get running backs early, right?
38:03You want to get at least one of those guys in the first couple rounds, because if you don't, the build ends up looking pretty tough.
38:10Now, I like Judkins. I mean, I'm in a charity league this week where I just took Judkins.
38:15I did take him closer to the end of the fifth round, but I like the potential there.
38:21I'm with you, though, after Javante Williams, just so many of these guys have red flags attached to them, right?
38:26When we're looking at Judkins coming back from the injury, Scadaboo coming back from the injury and, you know, the new offenses
38:33that those guys are going to be in HN, right?
38:35Having to deal with Alvin Kamara there, like all of these guys in this round, it's they can all come through.
38:41They can all end up having fantastic fantasy seasons.
38:44That's why they're going here. DeAndre Swift, obviously coming off a very good year in that Bears offense.
38:49Travion Henderson. We've talked at length about him and what could happen there one way or the other in that Patriots backfield.
38:55But yes, you're taking on a lot more risk.
38:58And when you compare it to some of the receivers that are available or the really interesting thing that happened here with the tight ends, right?
39:05Your guy Colston Loveland, who we talked about when we did one of our first mocks this year and you grabbed him
39:11in the third round and his ADP has kind of fluctuated from like late third, fourth round or so.
39:17So we see him fall to the fourth here.
39:19It's not even him going in the mid fourth.
39:22It's Trey McBride falling to the fourth and only going a few spots ahead of Loveland.
39:26And I wonder if that's telling at all, if we're starting to see the Loveland hype actually catch up to Trey McBride,
39:33who people in general, I think might just be a little bit down on that Cardinals offense.
39:38Could we see those two guys flip in terms of their ADP, which at the end of last year, you never would
39:44have expected that that would have happened with the season that McBride had, but it seems like we might be getting closer
39:50to something like that potentially happening in redraft. Oh, I think that's very possible that those guys flip.
39:55It probably takes like a lot more buzz out of training camp.
39:59Sounds like, by the way, the Bears offense is cooking in training camp.
40:02Like I was reading reports that it's like all their receivers are going off.
40:06Caleb Williams is is ripping it all over the place.
40:09And part of me thinks like, man, maybe the maybe the Bears defense is not going to be very good this year.
40:15It's it doesn't it looks like it has some holes on paper.
40:19But you do love to see that because I am excited on the record about everybody in this Bears offense.
40:24Obviously, Colson Loveland included. So definitely someone to monitor there and just kind of I think that ADP could end up flipping.
40:31But yeah, this was definitely one of the rounds to me where I think all the receivers again after Javante Williams, so
40:37I think is a rock solid fourth round pick.
40:39All the receivers here, I think are much more palatable fourth round picks.
40:43Even, you know, Garrett. I can't get hurt again.
40:46Wilson is a better fourth round pick than some of these running backs.
40:49Maybe maybe DeAndre Swift like is the is the exception here.
40:53He's the guy that I feel best about after after Javante Williams.
40:56But, you know, maybe I'll stand alone on that one.
40:59Anything else from this round before you before we get to round five?
41:02Yeah, just to track it, because I mentioned it off the top that the James Cook team there was going to be on an interesting build.
41:10It's a total robust RB build. Ended up going with three running backs off the start.
41:14Cook, Derrick Henry and Brees Hall. And then that's the team that actually got Colson Loveland here.
41:19So the only squad that has no receivers through the first four rounds.
41:23And I think it's pretty interesting that the receiving core he ends up putting together in the next three rounds.
41:29We'll talk about it once we get to round seven.
41:31The receiving core is still pretty good. And that just speaks to the level of receiver talent when we get to these rounds.
41:38And it was similar to what we discussed and recommended last year.
41:41Try to hit receiver very hard in this area drafts.
41:44I think you're going to want to do that again this year because there are a lot of good receivers on the
41:51board to contrast that with what we're saying about the running backs that are just getting riskier and riskier and having more
41:57and more red flags as we go here. All right.
42:00So yeah, on that note, let's get into the fifth round here.
42:03A lot of interesting receiver picks. You're right. It starts out though, however, with Basial Tootin to begin round five.
42:09Then Luther Burton, Jadarian Price, Tyler Warren, Christian Watson, Lamar Jackson, Devontae Adams, Mike Evans, Jaden Daniels, David Montgomery, Jamison Williams, and
42:15then DJ Moore to finish it off with the final pick of the fifth round.
42:19What do you like here in round five, Boone?
42:22Just look at the receivers. I mean, again, we're going to just absolutely hammer this point home, but Luther Burton, Christian Watson,
42:28obvious breakout candidates, guys that performed when they got opportunities last year, probably going to get even bigger opportunities this season.
42:34As long as Watson can stay healthy, I feel really good about him as one of my favorite picks this year in drafts.
42:40Devontae Adams, 33, going to be 34 in December, but it's like people are forgetting that he was the wide receiver seven
42:47in fantasy points per game last year. I know that's going to be tough to do again, and it did really revolve
42:53around the touchdown scoring, but they didn't end up bringing in anyone that's going to threaten him in terms of the passing game.
43:00So it's going to be an opportunity to put up another big touchdown total.
43:04Jamison Williams, quietly the wide receiver 18 last year.
43:06I know some of that had to do with Sam Laporta being hurt in the second half of the season, but we've
43:12really started to see him come into his own in a Lions offense that you said it in the first round.
43:18We just want pieces of this offense. The schedule is great for them.
43:22They're going to score a ton of points this year.
43:25You're going to be happy that you have Lions on your roster.
43:28And then Mike Evans, DJ Moore, quality receivers, new offenses.
43:31They're going to be the clear number one in their offenses.
43:34And the Mike Evans of it all goes back to the Ricky Pearsall situation that we discussed off the top.
43:40Mike Evans, as long as he stays healthy, but whenever he's on the field, he can give you a top 24 receiver
43:46numbers and has that wide receiver one kind of ceiling in any given week with the touchdown scoring.
43:51And you're telling me that he couldn't be this year's Devontae Adams and have that massive touchdown total.
43:56Absolutely. He could. So excited about all the receivers in this round.
44:00I couldn't agree with you more, man. And the more I've looked at this receiver tier, which for me is the is tier four.
44:07I do have both Bears guys, both Bears receivers at the top of the tier.
44:11A Dunze who goes in the next round and then Luther Burton who went in this round.
44:16I have them at the top of this tier to me just because I think that's a rocket ship offense that I want pieces of.
44:23But the rest of these guys are in my tier here of receivers Adams, Williams, Evans, Watts, like all the names we just mentioned.
44:30And then a couple that go a little bit later.
44:32I really I'm warming up to this group an awful lot.
44:36Even DJ Moore, who at one point I was like, I don't know if I have a lot of conviction about DJ
44:42Moore from a fantasy standpoint this year. And I don't know that I'm going to like massively bump him up the rankings,
44:48but you can see a lot of paths where DJ Moore is a great fifth round pick this year just because I
44:54think it's tough with just the drop off and efficiency for him.
44:58And even I think the drop off in his own individual individual play, I do think a little bit from his best
45:04years in Carolina, but he's just so set up well to moonwalk into like 130 plus targets right now.
45:09And I don't know where you're going to end up ranking him, but yeah, I've got him around like receiver 29 or 30 ish, like in that range.
45:17I just think he really fits this Joe Brady offense better than the Ben Johnson offense.
45:22So he is someone that I could see being like a really, really attractive fifth round pick in this range.
45:28And they need it. Like even if DJ Moore is not that top 10, top 12 receiver that we saw at times in Chicago, the bills needed someone.
45:35And he is very clearly the best receiver on that roster.
45:39Khalil Shakir is a nice piece, but he is not a number one.
45:42We know what's happened with the key on Coleman.
45:45I like Skylar Bell as a contributor here, but I don't think he's going to come in and take over the true number one slot.
45:52I think Dalton Kincaid could be pretty good in this offense this year.
45:56Didn't think I was going to say that after the way last year ended with the injuries, but I'm back on board.
46:02We will talk about him a little later. I may have taken him in this draft, Harmon, but yeah, I think DJ
46:08Moore is set up very well here and we're already seeing it, right?
46:12Some highlights coming out of camp where they're going to get the ball in his hands.
46:16They invested in him. They obviously believe that he can come in and make a big impact.
46:21And I think he can too. I just think fantasy managers need to keep their expectations in check.
46:26I don't think he's going to give you a top 12, top 15 kind of season, but low end wide receiver, two numbers definitely in reach.
46:34And if you're getting them in this range, you're happy to get that kind of return.
46:38I could see a top 15 season. He just, things just have to obviously break really right for him.
46:44Like again, I, if I'm wasn't a hundred percent sure, just like how convicted I was on him in fantasy, even though
46:50I really liked the trade contract, you know, and compensation aside, I really liked the trade to get DJ more.
46:56And I just thought they'd add someone else. They didn't.
46:58So he's in position to really dominate targets here.
47:01But yeah, I do think the theme of round five and round six are some of these receiver picks certainly out start
47:07to outweigh the running backs on the board. And speaking of round six, we are going to take another quick break.
47:13When we come back, we're going to quickly talk through our sixth round picks.
47:17We will get into that right after this. All right, we're back.
47:21We're talking through round six. Now, uh, boom, these are some interesting picks here.
47:25Starts off with a quarterback, Joe Burrow, Bucky Irving, Roma Dunze, Brian Thomas, Jr., Jalen Warren, Parker Washington, Sam Laporta, Tucker Craft,
47:31Drake May, Carnell Tate, Tony Pollard, and Chuba Hubbard.
47:33Uh, all different mixing stuff here. We've got a couple of tight ends.
47:37We've got a quarterback, got some running backs receivers.
47:40Where do your eyes take you here in this round?
47:42Well, I think the first thing I have to address is that I took Bucky Irving in this round straight out of the coping corner.
47:50I put Bucky Irving in the coping corner in what, like February?
47:53Okay, let's, let's talk through it, right? I mentioned before, normally this year, I'm trying to get at least a couple running
47:59backs in the first few rounds because it drops off so badly.
48:03The way that this draft unfolded, I wasn't able to do that.
48:06I didn't like the value that got to me every round.
48:09I went in different directions because of it. And normally when I do just one running back builds early, you end up getting somebody.
48:16There's a David Montgomery, for example. I thought I was going to get him in the last round.
48:21I got sniped one pick before me. He goes off the board.
48:24There's normally a few guys like that, that you can take a chance on in this instance, it didn't happen.
48:30So then I had to pivot and we get to the sixth round now.
48:34And I have to take Bucky Irving. Who's really in my mind, like the absolute end of that tier, the last running
48:40back that you maybe could see have a pretty solid fantasy season.
48:44I just think the problem with him and the reason that we had him in the coping corner going all the way
48:50back to whenever that was February, March, whatever is because I don't think the ceiling's there anymore.
48:55I don't think we could look at Bucky Irving and say, okay, we're getting a top 10 season out of Bucky.
49:01He's going to be an RB one for fantasy with gain.
49:04Well, there with Sean Tucker back. I don't think that's going to happen.
49:08It's going to be something similar to what we saw last year.
49:11Now, could it be a top 24 running back?
49:14Yes, I think so. And is that fine in the sixth round?
49:17Absolutely. With the build that I have going right now, I just need him to give me RV two numbers.
49:23So in the sixth round, as that like stop gap fail safe.
49:26Yes. I'm going to have to keep investing in running back the rest of the way.
49:31Bucky Irving ended up being the pick there. And I figured it might get a laugh or two out of people that
49:37saw it based on I've talked about him all off season.
49:40There's a palatable ADP for everybody here, Boone. And you found it for Bucky Irving.
49:44Yeah. Round six, I actually, I think is totally fine for Bucky Irving.
49:48At that point, you're baking in a lot of the risk and you're getting still look still plenty of reward because even
49:54if he does, you know, get the passing game work zapped by Kenny Gainwell, this is still an offense in Tampa that
50:01I think is going to be really good. So ultimately, I really like the way this Bucs offense sets up.
50:06Their offensive line is going to be so much better than it was last year.
50:10And Bucky Irving is still the RB one here.
50:13So I'm with you that this is a fine spot for Bucky Irving.
50:17We definitely start to get more quarterbacks and tight ends in the mix here.
50:21Tucker Craft, as mentioned, was taken in this round.
50:23Sam Laporta taken in this round. I like the four receiver picks as well.
50:27These are all guys, again, in that sort of tier of players that I mentioned earlier, where it's Brian Thomas Jr., it's Roma, Dunze, Parker, Washington, Carnell Tate.
50:35I think they're in the same tier. And I have a Dunze ranked ahead of a lot of the guys that went in the last round.
50:43By the way, clarified his new normal comments today.
50:45Like to see that. People can just, they can search that on their own.
50:49Anyways, I like to see that from Rome, who again, I have ranked around higher than this.
50:54But ultimately, all these receiver picks here are pretty nice.
50:57So good range to be shopping for receivers. Because yeah, ultimately, I think when you get to the, these guys make sense
51:03in certain builds, Boone, Jalen Warren, Chuba Hubbard, Tony Pollard.
51:06But there are pretty obvious red flags for all of those guys.
51:09Even, you know, Bucky Irving kind of aside. I mean, let's face it.
51:13I got lucky that Bucky Irving fell to the sixth round, right?
51:16Because you don't want to end up picking a running back in this range.
51:20You just don't. You don't want to have to pick a guy who's going to have to be a starter on your
51:27offense and redraft from this group of Jalen Warren or Tony Pollard, Chuba Hubbard.
51:31I think there's guys that we'll target as we go here.
51:34There's some interesting values. But to spend your sixth round pick on those guys versus all the names that you brought up
51:40at the other positions here, it's just a much better build if you're grabbing a guy at quarterback at tight end or
51:46at receiver here versus having to dip into the running back pool.
51:50And again, I think that's why I got pretty lucky with the Bucky Irving pick.
51:54And this is kind of a big group. I would almost say it's like two tiers the last two rounds from the
52:00fifth and the sixth in terms of the quarterbacks and tight ends that have gone off the board.
52:05And normally I don't dip into this range, but I think this year, like with Josh Allen going in the third and
52:11you're waiting a couple rounds and then you have a shot at a Lamar Jackson, at a Jaden Daniels who could be,
52:18you know, top two, top three, or even the top quarterback overall by the end of the season or in this round,
52:24Burrow may these guys that we feel really, really strongly about.
52:27It's not a bad way to invest in part of it is because when we get to this area, the draft running
52:33back is just such a waste of time versus past years.
52:36So you want to be using those picks at the other positions.
52:40And if you don't like what's there, not worried at all about pivoting and grabbing a quarterback or a tight end in that range.
52:47Yeah, it's I think the quarterback and probably probably quarterback or tight end though.
52:51I have found Boone. I don't know if you agree with this.
52:54I have found my least favorite team builds are the ones where I go double up on the kind of onesie positions, which was old is new again.
53:02That was something we were probably all talking about like eight years ago, bold strategy, all that type of stuff.
53:08Now it's just I do feel like we're kind of back there with just the opportunity cost, specifically at running back, but
53:14even to still get these premium receivers like the guys we know are going to be on the field every single down.
53:20I don't really like the teams where I grab both onesie positions in the first six rounds or so.
53:26Yeah, no, I totally agree. And it's also because there's at the onesie positions.
53:30There are so many good options later in drafts, especially at quarterback.
53:33And we're going to get to it like some some of the quarterback values that are available in the very late rounds of this draft.
53:40It just informs how you should be drafting this year.
53:43And I know in this draft, I ended up taking Josh Allen in the third.
53:47And that was in part because I didn't really love the other options in that range.
53:52So I decided to burn a pick on quarterback and can't really argue with taking the best fantasy quarterback over the last how many seasons.
53:59But still, normally this year, I've leaned towards the late round QB build again.
54:03And I think we're going to see why coming up here.
54:06There's just so many great players available in the deep rounds.
54:09Absolutely. And we're going to get to that here.
54:12We're going to take our final break of the show, and that is going to do it for us on the Yahoo Sports Network.
54:18However, for all of you watching with us on YouTube, we're going to come right back after this break and finish up our recap of this mock draft.
54:26We will get into that right after this. All right, we're back.
54:30Let's start off round seven here, Boone, as we get into the late rounds of this draft.
54:35This begins with Marvin Harrison Jr., Harold Fannin, Ramondre Stevenson, Rico Dowdle, Jalen Hurts, Jordan Tyson, Josh Downs, Jonathan Brooks, George Kittle,
54:41Justin Herbert, Makai Lemon, and Alec Pierce. Some very intriguing picks all throughout this range.
54:45I was the one who made the George Kittle pick.
54:48You know, it's fine. It's fine. I just never was on the clock in this draft, Boone, and liked anything that I was looking at, honestly.
54:55It's like all the guys I wanted would go right before me.
54:59It happens. You know, dust yourself off. Live to fight another day.
55:02But anything from this round really stand out to you?
55:05Kittle in the seventh feels a little bit early, but I've been taking him in the eighth, man, so it's not that crazy.
55:12And I think there's a good chance, especially with this Pearsall news, that as long as we see Kittle get back out
55:18there in timely fashion, his value is going to go way up.
55:21Because once you get to this range and you're looking for a starting tight end, how many guys have like pretty obvious and clear top five potential?
55:29Kittle is like the guarantee as long as he is healthy enough out there.
55:33So I wouldn't beat yourself up too much about that one.
55:36But yeah, I think we're going to see his ADP potentially end up in this range eventually.
55:41The thing that really stands out to me, we can get back to it, that James Cook team, right?
55:46That we talked about before that went James Cook, Derrick Henry, Brees Hall, Colston Loveland, no receivers through four rounds, follows that
55:52up with Devontae Adams, Parker Washington, and Josh Downs.
55:55Now, I don't know if they're just kind of playing to us knowing we're going to talk about this and be like,
56:01you know, all right, we obviously like these guys.
56:04We're never going to say bad things about Parker Washington.
56:07Josh Downs, of course, we think is going to have a big year.
56:10But that's not a bad receiving core to put together when you have pretty rock solid options at running back and tight end now.
56:17And now all you have to do is come back and find yourself a quarterback in the late rounds that we just
56:23discussed before the break, how many great QB values there are the rest of the way.
56:28So it is not a terrible way to build your team.
56:31I know sometimes it might feel strange. You don't have a receiver yet.
56:35You're watching these big name receivers go off the board.
56:38But that build to me is fine. And you can keep loading up on some later receivers as well and try to find some values that way.
56:45Be aggressive on the waiver wire at receiver. I think that's a pretty solid team that's been put together there.
56:51I think it's I think this is Dan Titus's team, by the way, is the one that we're referencing here.
56:57Um, it's a little it's a little thinner than I want to be at receiver as much as I like.
57:02Obviously, Parker Washington, especially Josh Downs. Good note from Colts camp this week, as Shane Syken said, like, yeah, we're going to
57:09be playing Josh Downs all over the place. 12 personnel in a slot and 11 personnel, which like I know that I
57:15know that's like something we need to hear. And obviously, it's just something he's saying.
57:19We'll have to see what it looks like on game day.
57:22But like, of course, they're going to this is team brought in Chase Claypool for tryouts today.
57:27That's how desperate the Colts are at wide receiver.
57:30They're not going to be playing some of these guys ahead of Josh Downs, who's obviously a good player and one of their top pass catchers.
57:37So he'll be out there. He goes ahead of Alec Pierce on this one.
57:41But it's just a little risky, like with Damonte Adams being your wide receiver one.
57:45If he's the guy that he was last year, you know, he hasn't taken a step back or anything like that.
57:51That is going to look good. Just a little thin at receiver.
57:55But you obviously make for make up for it with the robust running back build.
57:59So the build is coming together here for Dan Titus.
58:02There's no question about that. One thing I wanted to know from this round is, you know, Jonathan Brooks, seventh round pick
58:08like the hype train has left the station here, I suppose, for Jonathan Brooks for a Panthers team that, as we mentioned,
58:14not off to a great start injury wise going to be missing their starting right tackle Taylor Moton.
58:19Obviously, the brazzle thing is a space clear. You know, maybe that takes away from the run game a little bit.
58:25But I still like Jonathan Brooks and I'm open to Jonathan Brooks having a breakout season.
58:30But now we're talking seventh round Jonathan Brooks. That's very different from when he was like the hundredth overall player when I
58:36was first like, oh, Brooks is in a nice position so far this year.
58:40Yeah, that happened very quickly. Not a bad pick.
58:43But in terms of value, it's tough to make that click in my mind at the seventh round.
58:48It's very hard. And I think this just tells us like we're going to see him go ahead at Chuba Hubbard very soon.
58:54It's already happening in some drafts. People are that excited.
58:57People want to hit on that next running back.
59:00And we're seeing some highlights. And it's a great story, right?
59:03It's just a great story. And people want to be a part of that.
59:07And fantasy should be fun. So if you want to have that guy on your team and hope that magical story comes
59:13through while he's on your roster, all the power to you.
59:16I think he's somebody in terms of guys in this range who could blow up, who have very high ceilings and could
59:22take over their backfield without an injury, he's the most exciting.
59:25Absolutely. I wanted to ask you, I don't know if you had anything else to add on Brooks there, because I wanted
59:32to ask you any concerns about, and I know it is practice, but any worries about the Marvin Harrison Jr.
59:37Oh. Situation. I mean, we're getting mixed reports out of camp.
59:41We're seeing highlights where he's dropping passes. We're getting reports from some of the beat writers that, hey, he looks fine.
59:47He's out there. Don't worry about it kind of thing.
59:49But if you put together these montages like we're seeing of all these drop passes in practice, it just seems like he
59:56kind of has like the yips a little bit at the moment, right?
59:59And that's not something that necessarily is going to stick around and plague him all year.
60:04But it's not nothing. But I don't think it's something where I'm moving the ranks because of it.
60:09Oh, I actually think it's nothing. I actually truly think it's nothing.
60:12I mean, by the way, can we talk about the quality of some of these passes too?
60:17Like none of these are good anyways. Like the ones going to Marv are the ones that are inaccurate and like just a little bit off.
60:25Like the one that he put like Brissette, I think it was Brissette.
60:28It might not have been though that he puts it like a little bit behind Marv and like it hits his hands and he doesn't catch it.
60:36Like that probably doesn't even honestly get charted as a drop.
60:39So this was the thing I said early in the show is like, yeah, my for you page is like Cyrus Allen, Cyrus Allen, Cyrus Allen.
60:46Would you like to get rage baited by people talking about like the social media aggregators with the Marvin Harrison Jr.
60:52Drops? And like, guess what? I am getting rage baited by it because when you actually, by the way, my, I have to stop.
60:59I have to stop tweeting about the 2026 Cardinals because I've done it quite a lot because now the algo is starting
61:05to feed me like all Cardinals content. And when you actually follow like the videos that the beat writers that are there
61:12are putting out, it's like Marv is wide open.
61:14Marv makes a great catch and Michael Wilson too.
61:17And that's why I am a little bit, Boone, I really, I gotta, I gotta stop.
61:21I can't, I can't stop, but I gotta stop.
61:24I am like admittedly a little Cardinals curious. Okay.
61:27Like I just, I do think that LaFleur is going to, and he already had, I mean, clearly already has been again,
61:33the reports about how just open guys are getting at practice and the difference between what the previous offense looked like in
61:39this offense just really fits these receivers so well.
61:42And like, this is where then I'm going to start gaslighting myself and be like, is Jacoby Brissett really that bad?
61:48Like, is it, I mean, it not really like, I think he's a functional starting quarterback.
61:52They did make some additions on the offensive line.
61:55Like Jeremiah loves their stuff. Like I can, I can feel myself being gaslit maybe by myself because I'm Cardinals curious and
62:01I do like Harrison and I really like Michael Wilson.
62:04So anyways, long story short to answer your question.
62:06I, I don't really care. I don't care about the Marv drops.
62:10I actually, what I care about is that like all the other, these other clips where he's like running by guys and
62:16the offense is scheming guys open, which is why I admittedly if we're doing the safe space here, I am a little, I am a little Cardinals curious.
62:24Well, I look forward to continuously asking you about this to try to get reactions like that throughout August.
62:29Get you all fired up. Once a show, I have to try to knock Harmon off his chair here.
62:35That was the one for this episode. Yeah. You're on a good, you're on a good streak here.
62:40So I'll be seeing you every week on the show here.
62:43So I'll load up the material. So yeah, the algorithm is, is, is, is kicking my ass right now.
62:48Okay. Round eight. We'll get into the next one here.
62:51Some interesting picks here as well. Begins with Kyle Pitts, Chris Godwin, RJ Harvey, Kyle Manungai, Jaden Higgins, Dak Prescott, Jaden Reed,
62:57Blake Corum, Cortland Sutton, Caleb Williams, DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman.
63:00We're getting into kind of the boring veteran zone here for sure, but some intriguing picks from this round as well.
63:06Boone, what stands out to you here in round eight?
63:09I think at this point we've gotten to like the, get your guys territory, right?
63:13Just pick the players who you want on your team.
63:16You start to not worry as much about ADP.
63:19And I also think we're seeing as much as I do like the running backs in these, these ranges, they're guys who
63:25probably are going to need an injury ahead of them in order to get a bigger workload.
63:30I think in RJ Harvey's case, I don't even know that the injury is going to matter.
63:35So I think there's a bit of a cap ceiling.
63:37There's a bit of, you're just grabbing these guys and throwing them on your bench versus some of these receivers who I
63:44could see turn into starters on fantasy teams this year, right?
63:47The quarterback value again here, getting guys like Dak Prescott, Caleb Williams, who could certainly be top 10 fantasy quarterbacks, solid starters,
63:53and you're getting them in this range. I like that so much better for my rosters this year than having to chase running backs in this area.
64:01And I say that because in past years, we're normally already filling up on running backs right now.
64:06And yet I just feel like this year, some of the guys going in this range, I would rather wait and chase
64:12other backups, other one injury away guys that are a little bit cheaper and spend these picks on quarterback.
64:18If I haven't taken one already or tight ends or some of these veteran receivers who I think still have a chance to produce this year.
64:25Yeah, I will admit just as we're talking about chasing running backs here, like I took common guy in the eighth round
64:31and I was like, oh, thank God he's still on the board because I was I am chasing running back in this draft.
64:38And I do. By the way, I like I like common guy.
64:41I actually think he's a good eighth round pick.
64:44I think there's ways where it works out for him.
64:46And again, I just want to be attached to this Bears offense.
64:50I totally agree with you. The quarterbacks are better picks in this range, but I actually do have to give Joel a shout out here.
64:57I said that I was getting smoked in this draft like guys were going off the board right before I wanted to take them.
65:04Joel must have done that to me like. I don't know.
65:07Every other round basically was he was he was just crushing me taking the guy that I wanted to take and put me on tilt.
65:14So when he did not take my nun guy, he took RJ.
65:17I was like, oh, thank God. Like I really want to come and I got there, which is a disgusting position to be in.
65:24By the way, when you're just like, thank God I got common guy.
65:28Fine. Fine. Fantasy pick whatever. But to Boone's point here.
65:31This is like not the range to be targeting, you know, your your RB three like you met.
65:36You might want to be a little bit more locked in than that because but when I do think I'm not all
65:42that into kind of the they're fine. Eighth round picks, you know, the Sutton's the Steelers receivers, the Chris Godwin's and any
65:48I do like Jaden Reed who goes in the eighth round here.
65:52I couldn't afford another receiver pick, but I did consider Jaden Reed a good value here in the eighth round.
65:57But all these guys do project pretty well. And I think Higgins, Jaden Higgins is a really intriguing pick in this round.
66:04I know you wanted to highlight here. Yeah, I think he's somebody that it just seems like people aren't talking about maybe as much as they should be.
66:12People have latched on to some of the other names, but we're seeing what's going on in that receiving core.
66:17Of course, Nico Collins. Great. We know Nico's awesome.
66:20Some would say that he's better picked than Drake London.
66:23Some would pick Drake London over him regardless. Some would not act on it.
66:27Yeah. What a clown. Look at what else is happening in that receiver depth chart.
66:31And I think we were all stunned at the fact that Tank Dell not placed on Pup.
66:36Now, I think he's still a bit of a ways from potentially getting back to anything close to what he was before
66:42and no guarantees that he's even going to be out there week one and just a crazy injury that he's trying to come back from.
66:49So all the power to him, but the bigger surprise that Jalen Noel, who is another exciting young receiver in this office,
66:55he's the one that's on Pup now. So that just kind of helps clear the deck even more in my mind for
67:02Higgins, who we saw produce pretty well last year.
67:04Like his role was growing later in the year, at least 50 yards and or a touchdown in six of his last nine games.
67:11Like there's something here. I think he showed us last year.
67:14He certainly belongs. And from week 10 on last season, he was the wide receiver 35 in fantasy points per game.
67:20So if you're getting them in this range, even if you just get wide receiver three value, which he put up down
67:26the stretch, that's a win in my mind. And I think there's a ceiling for a lot more on top of the potential.
67:33If a guy like Nico Collins gets hurt and thrust Higgins into a bigger role.
67:37So he's somebody that I really like. And maybe I'm missing it, Harmon.
67:41Maybe it's just not on my for you page, but I feel like he's somebody that should be getting talked about more.
67:47There's no there's like no hype on on Higgins right now.
67:50I'm with you. By the way, Higgins was actually excuse me.
67:53Jalen Noel was actually placed on the NFI, the non football injury list.
67:57Yeah, because I and then GM Nick Casario said, quote, honestly happened three or four days ago issue with this finger was
68:03catching passes must have caught it the wrong way.
68:06Short term. He's not real concerned, but then said might be a few weeks.
68:10Kind of like finger injury for a receiver. Not good.
68:13Not ideal. Yeah, not ideal. So definitely not good for Jalen Noel, who needs the time to kind of continue to learn the offense and everything like that.
68:21And, you know, this is just room for Higgins to really cement himself as kind of a standalone wide receiver, too, because
68:27when I've looked at this Texans room, if like if Tank Dell gets out there and is even like a part time
68:33player, he's going to get on the field and Jalen Noel like is going to get on the field.
68:39And I thought like there's a chance that Nico is just out there and he's the center of the universe.
68:44Honestly, kind of like what we're talking about with DJ Moore, where like he gets out there and he's just the one and he soaks up everything.
68:52And then these other guys kind of rotate behind him.
68:55But there is a real chance that like Higgins, if he has a strong camp can just like he's the wide receiver
69:01to these other dudes don't really make much of an impact.
69:04And I think that's I think that's very possible.
69:07I'm looking at his comps, Jalen Jaden Higgins in the reception perception player comparison tool.
69:11They're like kind of all over the place because he played a lot of X receiver in his in his first season.
69:17Like he draws like a Kenny Galladay rookie comp.
69:20But at the same time, then and by the way, like Kenny Galladay was a good player with the line.
69:25So that's actually not a mean comp. But then he also gets some like Adam Thielen, Jawan Jennings, Tim Patrick.
69:31And I do feel like that's kind of the player I see him more as is like a supersized like bigger Z receiver.
69:38And I thought his film was a lot better when he played in that position as opposed to when he had to
69:44kind of fill in for Nico as the X.
69:46So, yeah, I'm with you. I think there needs to be a lot more hype on Jaden Higgins, who's like a ranks in like the 50s across platforms.
69:54So good, good shout out on Jaden Higgins. But let's move to round nine and kind of get through these last two rounds here.
70:01Round nine begins with Jordan Mason, J.K. Dobbins, Ricky Pearsall.
70:04Sad. Michael Wilson, Kenny Gainwell, Ja'Cory Kroski, Merritt, Rashad White, Aaron Jones, Quinton Johnson, Jordan Addison, Dalton Kincaid and Chris Rodriguez Jr.
70:10Yeah, we're getting to the late rounds here. Any picks stand out to you from this one, Boone?
70:15Yeah, I think I'm a little more interested in the running backs in this range, right?
70:20Because we're talking about some guys that you're getting extremely cheap and someone's going to be a starting back in their offense, right?
70:26We have some some teammates here, Jordan Mason, Aaron Jones, JCM and Rashad White.
70:30Like you can invest in these guys. Even if you take one of them around earlier, you can invest in these guys
70:37and you're getting a backfield fairly cheap. A guy like J.K.
70:40Dobbins going in this range. He's almost certainly going to start the season as long as he's healthy as the number one back in that offense.
70:47Now, how long will he hold that job? You know, that's the concerning part.
70:51The durability issues every single year that have popped up.
70:54Maybe this is the year. Don't know about that.
70:57I don't know that I'm willing to make that bet.
70:59That's why I make a pick of Jonah Coleman a little bit later in the deeper rounds here.
71:05But you look at the backs here and there's value, whether it's Chris Rodriguez, Kenny Gainwell, guys who I think are number
71:11two backs but are going to get work in their offenses.
71:14It's just a range where I'm more than willing to invest in these running backs versus some of the running backs who
71:20were going a couple rounds earlier here. I don't see that much difference in the value with these guys.
71:26And I think some of these players could return value without an injury happening ahead of them on the depth chart.
71:32So that to me is kind of interesting. And we can say with the Pearsall injury, I'm pretty sure producer Colin took him as well.
71:39So you take the good and Brock Bowers in round two and you take the bad and Pearsall here who we didn't
71:45know that was the situation when Colin picked him, obviously.
71:48Of course. I think you're right, though, about these running backs.
71:51These are strong picks here. You're going to need a break here or a break there for them to really come through for you.
71:58But that's what you're doing when you're taking running backs in the ninth round.
72:02I think these are all solid bets. Although the receivers are fine bets as well, including like, again, I will just say
72:08as a Cardinals curious man, Michael Wilson is just like way too good of a player to be a ninth round pick.
72:14Like, I get it. He might be the third pass catcher, but he might not be like, should there really be this
72:20two round gap between him and Marvin Harrison Jr.?
72:23I don't know. Like, I think these guys are really, really good players.
72:27So we'll find out. But yeah, anyways, no more Cardinals talk for me.
72:30I need to be on like a limit. Let me mention one other thing here.
72:35I said that I took Dalton Kincaid. I've made my Dalton Kincaid case that, you know, early in the season last year,
72:41he was producing like a top five fantasy tight end.
72:44Then he gets hurt. Season gets derailed. If we can keep him healthy for a year, which we're getting to like JK
72:50Dobbins levels here where he's getting hurt every season and he plays through it later in the year and he's just not the same player.
72:57But still, he's a guy that has a pretty good ceiling.
73:00But I want to bring him up here because I just want to bring up the strategy of me taking him.
73:06I looked at it and I considered who else didn't have a tight end.
73:10There were two other teams that didn't have a tight end yet.
73:14And then I weighed who was left on the board.
73:16And then I decided Kincaid was kind of that last name that I really felt strongly about.
73:21So I decided to take him here as opposed to waiting and ending up with somebody else a little deeper down or
73:27having to grab multiple tight ends because I knew I wanted to mostly fill my bench up with running backs based on
73:34the build that I'd taken so far. So I think that's something that people might not do enough of during your draft.
73:40Take a look at what other teams, especially with the one-off positions.
73:43It's easier to do at those positions. Take a look at which teams do or don't have quarterbacks.
73:48Try to use that to your advantage, especially if you're picking sort of near the turn, but not on the turn.
73:54You can look at the teams that are going around the turn.
73:58If you need a tight end, you take a look.
74:01Do those teams already have tight ends? Great. I could probably wait another round then before I pick my guy because they're
74:07not going to take a second tight end normally at that turn.
74:10Those are just like little strategy things. It's a lot harder to do with receivers and running backs, but I bring it
74:17up because I think that's just another way people can get an edge and reach athletes, especially.
74:21A hundred percent. Yeah. Especially those onesie positions. Like you said, like be keeping track of what your league mates are doing
74:28when they're right around you in the draft. That just makes so much sense.
74:32Okay. Round 10 final round. We will recap in full here.
74:35Xavier worthy, Jonah Coleman, Romeo Dobbs, Tyron Tracy, Casey Concepcion, Wandale Robinson, Jacoby Myers, Jalen Coker, Travis Kelsey, Bo Nix, Trevor Lawrence, and Isaiah likely.
74:42What are your standout picks here from this one?
74:44I mean, just look at the quarterback values. Like again, when you're talking about how you're building your team, if you waited
74:51on quarterback, if you load it up at every single other position, you can get Trevor Lawrence here.
74:56You can get Bo Nix here. Both those guys top eight fantasy quarterbacks on a per game basis last year.
75:01I think there's reason to think that both guys are going to have really strong seasons this year.
75:07There's some more depth around them in terms of if an injury happens in the receiving core.
75:11They have some better players around them this year that could insulate them.
75:15So I think that's just a great way to build this season.
75:19Late round quarterback is nothing new, of course, but there were a few years there where we started to get a little
75:25more enticed by the elite quarterbacks because of the numbers they were putting up.
75:29There's so many good quarterbacks this year. You can get these guys.
75:32They have, you know, top eight potential or more, and you're getting them in this round versus having to take shots on
75:38some of these other guys, which is just like some of them are a bit more like Hail Mary type picks that you're hoping come through for you.
75:46Not nearly as guaranteed as the value that you're getting that quarterback.
75:50So for me, that's what really stands out that I think these teams got just great value by waiting on quarterback.
75:56Yeah, obviously I hate my team in this league.
75:58Again, I'm very glad this is the last time I'll ever think about it.
76:02But yeah, my two biggest concerns are that I did get behind at running back and then also took Jaden Daniels a
76:09little too early to the point that like, yeah, I was looking at Trevor Lawrence going off the board here in round
76:1510 and shoot in round 11, you know, like Jackson Dart goes off the board here for us, I believe in the
76:21next round or yeah, like there's just there's so many good quarterback picks all over the place.
76:26Just doesn't make sense to rip it early, especially when you get behind it at running back as well.
76:31Look at the quarterback room that Scott ended up with, right?
76:34Scott Pianowski. He got Trevor Lawrence here. He gets Brock Purdy in round 12.
76:38Both those guys finished his top six fantasy quarterbacks last year, right?
76:42They were two of the hottest guys down the stretch.
76:45Some of that was schedule related, but still guys that have produced over multiple seasons, guys that are looking really good for this year.
76:51And he's totally hedging his bet there by grabbing two of them in the late rounds.
76:56Essentially, in my mind, like just securing high end quarterback play for his team.
77:00So it's a great way to build your team this year.
77:03And just these receiver picks to real quick, like it's a it's a very fascinating blend here in round 10 where there's
77:09Casey Concepcion and Jalen Coker to, in my opinion, you know, and I'm not the only one that holds his opinion, but
77:16like two stone cold ballers at the receiver position.
77:18We just have questions about their offensive ecosystem, obviously.
77:21And yet you can also get kind of the boring.
77:23This guy is probably going to out kick his ADP, even if he's not the league winner upside guy like Romeo Dobbs.
77:30I'm really warming to Romeo Dobbs being a nice late round pick.
77:33If you need help at receiver, Jacoby Myers probably is just going to play and produce more than anybody thinks in Jacksonville
77:39while everyone's getting gassed up on Parker, Washington, BTJ and the whole deal like Myers is not going anywhere.
77:45There Wondale Robinson, like Boone, I one of my bold predictions might be that like Wondale Robinson catches more passes than Carnell Tate this year.
77:52I just think he's in a pretty good position there in Tennessee as well.
77:56So, yeah, there's some, you know, you get into the boring tight ends as well.
78:00Kelsey likely whatever, but there's some interesting receiver picks in this round as well.
78:04Yeah, because of the build that I was on now, the rest of the way I'm taking running backs and it's kind
78:10of like you were saying with the Kalmanunga pick, right?
78:13You feel compelled to do it because the build you're solid at the other positions and you got a backfill at running back.
78:20So for me, it's Jonah Coleman here. Who's one of those guys that the Dobbins injury at this point almost seems like an inevitability.
78:27It's just a matter of like, when is it going to occur?
78:30And right now, the way a lot of the people around the team are talking is if Dobbins goes down, Coleman's the
78:36one that might just step into his role. Harvey maintaining a similar role to what he has.
78:41So that could be a way where Coleman, unlike some of these other guys where they needed injury, but some of the
78:47starters ahead of them are younger guys, guys that don't have durability concerns.
78:51Coleman's somebody that seems like the path is set up where if that Dobbins injury just happens one more time, he's stepping
78:57into the starting role or at least a meaningful role in one of the better offenses in the league.
79:03So he's a guy that I've been trying to grab on as many teams as possible and just toss him on my bench for a later date.
79:10Absolutely love the Jonah Coleman pick very high on the Broncos offense.
79:14And I think Coleman is the perfect like, hey, he's the smart back who kind of does the little things well.
79:20So a really good breakdown from you there. Any other thoughts just on rounds 11 to 15 real quick rapid fire stuff before we get out of here?
79:28I thought it was interesting. I don't normally recommend people taking a running defense or a kicker taking them earlier than the last couple rounds.
79:35And often in drafts for redraft, I don't even take a defense or a kicker.
79:39I grab a couple more players who maybe could get their situation improved by an injury during the preseason or something like that.
79:46And then before we get to the season, I make decisions.
79:49You know, if somebody gets thrown on IR, if I have to drop a couple guys and fill those positions.
79:54However, I will say if you are going to take a defense or a kicker, make sure you're the first.
80:00Don't go too early. But I think we see here Hayden in what the 11th and 12th round around there ends up
80:06taking a Brandon Aubrey and the Texans defense. Be the first if you're going to do it and take the best ones
80:13because he secured that around the turn one of those rounds.
80:16And it seems like a smart move. Normally, again, I want to stream at those spots.
80:20I don't want to get locked down. But when he made that move, I was like, man, that kind of does look
80:26good in this range compared to what else we're dealing with and who we're picking from.
80:31I mean, yeah, I'm never taking especially a draft this early.
80:34Obviously, I'm never taking a kicker in defense. I'm just going to keep upside flyers on the bench.
80:39So out of protest, because our fearless leader, Jason Klobacca, makes us take a kicker and a defense in these mock drafts.
80:45I will just take them with my last two picks.
80:48So that is actual in that situation, smart strategy.
80:51By the way, final pick in this draft round 15, 12th pick in the 15th round.
80:55Hayden took Kyler Murray. Interesting. I think that could obviously go down as a very good value for the Winks team there.
81:02And yet another quarterback in the late rounds that if he finished as the top 12 QB, would you be shocked in the slightest?
81:08I don't think any of us would. So why not?
81:11Round 15 pick. Also, Tyler Shuck was the only other non kicker taken there.
81:15Who's going to get to throw to Chris Olave, who shout out to Chris Olave secured himself a nice bag as we were talking here.
81:22His contract extension is finalized, so he'll get into camp.
81:25And man, I've just been watching the Saints offense because I'm working on Olave's profile.
81:29That offense is so fun, man. Just Jordan Tyson, especially being dropped in here.
81:33I'm really excited about that Saints team. And Boone, I'm also very excited that next time you and I speak, next time
