A.J. Brown

NegativeRole7:16

A.J. Brown was not mentioned in the Eagles' offensive performance discussion, though the Eagles' pass-catching group was heavily analyzed. The focus was on DeVonta Smith, Davian Wicks, and Makai Lemon as the primary pass catchers in the game.

Insight page
NegativeRole19:55

Brown is part of an Eagles offense that is struggling with offensive line play; the line played a mediocre game in Week 3 after being a bigger problem in prior weeks. The Eagles' current offensive line is not at the level of their Super Bowl-winning unit when Hurts was a top-10 QB, and this line won't hit that potential again.

Insight page
NegativeRole88:27

AJ Brown's absence is cited as a contributing factor to Drake May's poor performance, but Matt Harmon notes that even with Brown's return, it won't be enough to fix May's issues. The Patriots' offensive line injuries and overall dysfunction are the real problems.

Insight page

Baker Mayfield

NegativeInjury68:28

Baker Mayfield suffered a dislocated right thumb with no fracture, ligament, or tendon damage; he is expected to miss at least three weeks. Matt Harmon notes that Mayfield has played poorly to start the season, and the thumb injury won't correct his performance issues when he returns. The injury is particularly damaging because Mayfield advocated for his contract prior to the season, and the Buccaneers offense has looked terrible through three games.

Insight page

Braelon Allen

PositiveRole31:58

Braylon Allen will step into a lead-back role with Breece Hall sidelined week-to-week; Justin Boone is excited about Allen as a waiver wire target. Allen has performed well in a complementary role, getting decent touches and goal-line work, and scored a touchdown in Week 3. The Jets offense is competent and moving well with Geno Smith playing good football, making this an attractive opportunity.

Insight page

Breece Hall

NegativeInjury31:37

Breece Hall is considered week-to-week with a quad injury; this is the most significant injury among the grab-bag of news items. Hall's backup Braylon Allen will get an opportunity to start for however long Hall is sidelined.

Insight page

Caleb Williams

NegativeProjection23:00

Caleb Williams has played well but lacks the consistency of Case Keenum; Matt Harmon suggests Williams needs about 5-10% more of Keenum's consistency to elevate his game. Williams is dealing with a grade-two hamstring injury and the Bears may rest him through the Jets, Packers, and Falcons games to allow full recovery.

Insight page

Case Keenum

PositiveProjection0:23

Case Keenum delivered an elite performance against Philadelphia: 247 passing yards, 2 passing touchdowns, 1 rushing touchdown; 8.44 adjusted net yards per attempt (sixth-best game by a Bears QB under Ben Johnson); 10 of 12 against the blitz for 134 yards and 2 TDs; 10 completions on under-center play action (Eagles have 6 all season). Matt Harmon notes elite offensive play-callers relish backup QB performances where they can execute their scheme cleanly, and Keenum was completely in command of Johnson's system.

Insight page
PositiveProjection22:48

Case Keenum had a strong Monday night performance, bringing a well-designed Bears offense to life with consistency and accuracy. Matt Harmon notes it was a memorable game and credits Keenum with executing the offense effectively, though the question remains how long he can sustain this level of play.

Insight page

Christian Watson

NegativeInjury60:15

Christian Watson grabbed at his hamstring in the final minutes of last week's game, a detail injury analysts flagged on social media. This warrants monitoring given Watson's prior history with hamstring and soft tissue issues. Watson is on track to be a potential league winner this year, but if he or Matthew Golden miss time (with Jaden Reed already out), Tucker Kraft would assume a larger role in the Packers passing game.

Insight page

Colston Loveland

PositiveRole4:00

Colston Loveland was an inch away from scoring a touchdown but still only received 4 targets when Case Keenum threw 34 times. Matt Harmon notes the hard part is not just that Loveland is falling in rest-of-season rankings, but the entire tight end position is flying up rankings, creating 14+ tight ends with legitimate debate over Loveland. Harmon attributes the low target share to Kalief Raymond and Luther Burden being wide open underneath, making Loveland not a priority. Harmon recommends having a backup plan at tight end if possible.

Insight page

D'Andre Swift

PositiveProjection4:00

DeAndre Swift picked up 84 rushing yards in the Bears' dominant 27-7 win over Philadelphia. Matt Harmon recommends starting Swift moving forward despite the backup QB situation, indicating confidence in his role and production.

Insight page

David Montgomery

NegativeBust62:29

Matt Harmon expresses total panic on David Montgomery, viewing him similarly to Ramondre Stevenson in current fantasy value. While Montgomery was drafted with preseason expectations of potentially being an RB2 in a Joe Mixon-style situation, the Texans offense has not materialized as expected. Woody Marks is heavily involved and the workload is shared; the rushing attack lacks juice and is not producing as anticipated.

Insight page
NegativeRole63:42

Montgomery is sharing the workload with Woody Marks in the Texans offense, which lacks the rushing juice of previous years. Matt Harmon compares him to Ramondre Stevenson as a touchdown-or-bust RB3 in startable range, but not expecting much more production. The Texans offense is non-functional without Nico Collins and Jaden Higgins, and their outside receiver group is among the worst in the league without them.

Insight page
NegativeProjection65:18

Matt Harmon expresses total panic on Montgomery, noting the Texans defense is not a top-2 or top-3 unit (ranking 5-7 in defensive rankings), which undermines the bull case that Montgomery would consistently benefit from positive game script as a lead back. Even when Nico Collins returns and matchups improve (Cowboys, Titans, Jags, Giants in next four weeks), the defense's mediocrity limits script advantage.

Insight page

De'Von Achane

NegativeInjury26:17

Miami Dolphins RB Devon Achane suffered a torn ACL against the Chiefs in Week 3 and will miss the remainder of the season. Justin Boone had a gut feeling in the offseason that Achane, a smaller back with big workloads, would break down; while the injury occurred early with normal workloads, it's catastrophic for fantasy managers. Achane is the engine of the Dolphins offense and his absence brings down the entire unit.

Insight page

DeVonta Smith

PositiveProjection15:00

DeVonta Smith has been balling through the first three weeks of the season. Matt Harmon notes the 50-50 balls to Smith continue to work and he had an awesome catch as an X receiver in the Monday night game. Harmon says 'The one thing that's been working is just the, the 50, 50 balls to Devante Smith just continue to work.'

Insight page

Drake London

NegativeRole80:29

Drake London is mentioned in the context of the Chargers' offensive struggles, but no specific fantasy take is provided beyond the general dysfunction of the offense.

Insight page

Drake Maye

NegativeProjection55:09

Drake Maye ranks 34th among 37 qualifying quarterbacks in points per game this season; only three QBs score lower: Kyler Murray (injured week 1), James Winston, and Cooper Rush. Matt Harmon notes Maye is playing poorly and that A.J. Brown's return may not be enough to fix the underlying issues, as Maye is making problems for himself.

Insight page
NegativeProjection87:32

Drake May is in coping corner for Matt Harmon. The rookie showed a strong floor last year, never finishing lower than QB17 in nine outings with 85%+ snap share, and scored over 14 fantasy points in all but one game last season. This year, he's been under 13 fantasy points in all three games. Despite offensive line injuries and AJ Brown's absence, May should be playing better. He looks discombobulated and is QB34 in points per game (37 QBs qualify), ahead of only Kyler Murray, James Winston, and Cooper Rush. Harmon would drop May if he weren't concerned about overreacting to a rookie's struggles, but he's benching him and streaming other quarterbacks.

Insight page

Isaiah Likely

PositiveProjection67:09

After a big week 1, Likely was expected to be a breakout tight end, but Matt Harmon is now viewing him as a tight end streamer rather than a consistent starter. The Giants' offensive collapse following Jackson Dart's injury has downgraded Likely's outlook significantly.

Insight page

J.J. McCarthy

NegativeProjection35:10

J.J. McCarthy was traded from the Vikings to the Giants for a 2027 fifth-round pick; Justin Boone is not optimistic about his prospects. McCarthy is still at a rookie level, hasn't shown anything close to Jackson Dart's level, and lacks the extensive NFL experience of successful second-chance QBs like Baker Mayfield or Geno Smith. Moving from Minnesota's good coaching to a messy Giants situation is not ideal for his development.

Insight page

Jadarian Price

NegativeRole66:53

Jadarian Price is stuck in a timeshare and Matt Harmon rates his panic level at only some panic, not total panic. Harmon's reasoning is that as a rookie running back, he wasn't expecting Price to be great early in the season; typically, rookies show improvement in the second half of the season.

Insight page

Jalen Hurts

NegativeProjection13:00

Jalen Hurts scored 1 rushing touchdown but the Eagles offense was largely dysfunctional. Matt Harmon notes Hurts threw an interception where there were no routes available on the right side of the field, forcing him to stare down quick hitches to the left. The Eagles are 30th in success rate vs. the blitz (35%), 32nd in screen yards (negative 12), and 32nd in under-center play action completions (6 all season). Harmon describes the offense as 'not exactly the same way that they were losing in the previous couple of seasons, but it's pretty close to that.'

Insight page

Jalen McMillan

NegativeInjury71:48

Jalen McMillan is hurt again and may be a lost year; he came into the season already dealing with an injury and has now suffered another setback. The Buccaneers' offensive dysfunction makes it difficult to get excited about any receivers on the team.

Insight page

Jalon Daniels

PositiveProjection72:18

Jalen Daniels is an interesting prospect who won the number two QB job and carries himself with poise both on and off the field. He can run and scramble a little bit and doesn't seem to get rattled often. With Baker Mayfield playing poorly, the bar is set low, so Daniels could look decent when he gets his opportunity. He's an undrafted player who earned the backup job, which is impressive. However, he's unlikely to be a complete fix for the Buccaneers offense.

Insight page

Jayden Higgins

PositiveRole65:48

Jaden Higgins was a potential breakout candidate this year and was positioned to pair with Nico Collins to create significant firepower in the Texans passing attack. However, the Texans are now operating without both receivers, severely limiting the offense's production potential. The outside receiver group is among the worst in the league without Higgins and Collins.

Insight page

Jayden Reed

NegativeInjury60:40

Jaden Reed is already out, creating a depth chart gap in the Packers receiving corps that could benefit Tucker Kraft if Christian Watson or Matthew Golden also miss time.

Insight page

Jaylen Wright

NegativeInjury28:06

Jalen Wright was out in Week 3 with a stinger and foot injury but is now day-to-day and may return to practice; his status is uncertain for upcoming games. If Wright returns, the Dolphins backfield will remain a committee situation with neither back expected to produce at Achane's level.

Insight page

Justin Herbert

NegativeProjection55:43

Justin Herbert, like Drake Maye, is making problems for himself and contributing to his team's offensive struggles. Matt Harmon groups Herbert with Maye as a QB creating self-inflicted issues beyond scheme or supporting cast.

Insight page
NegativeProjection80:00

Justin Herbert is QB32 in points per game and is in coping corner for Matt Harmon. The Chargers face a brutal schedule with Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs, bye, Rams, Texans, and Ravens in the next six weeks surrounding the bye. Herbert threw an inexcusable interception to Chauncey Carter-Johnson and is picking up where he left off poorly from last season. Harmon would actually drop Herbert and stream a quarterback instead, as there are so many good quarterbacks available that you don't need to deal with Herbert's poor play and difficult schedule.

Insight page

Justin Jefferson

PositiveInjury31:58

Justin Jefferson avoided a long-term injury and has a chance to play on Sunday; this is positive news after the injury scare.

Insight page

Kalif Raymond

PositiveRole4:00

Kalief Raymond was the leading receiver with 7 targets and had explosive plays. Matt Harmon notes Raymond has a real deal role in the Bears offense—'if anybody has the Amon Ross St. Brown role of this offense, it's actually the guy who wears number 14.' Raymond plays the slot for most snaps in 11 personnel and plays about half the snaps outside 11 personnel alongside Luther Burden. Harmon acknowledges Raymond is 32 years old and there's a chance he fades as the season progresses, but currently sees no reason for Ben Johnson to dial back his role. Raymond played the second-most snaps of all pass catchers.

Insight page

Kyler Murray

NegativeProjection88:44

Kyler Murray is one of only three quarterbacks below Drake May in points per game (QB35+), having been knocked out in the first week of the season. He's among the worst-performing quarterbacks this year.

Insight page

Luther Burden

PositiveRole4:00

Luther Burden scored a touchdown and was heavily involved early in the Bears' offense. Matt Harmon notes this was his best game of the season (first two games were rockier) and recommends starting him as a WR3 with upside. Burden plays about half the snaps outside of 11 personnel; he has 4.45 air yards per target and is capable of getting downfield. Harmon expects him to eventually get going down the football field.

Insight page

Makai Lemon

NegativeRole16:00

Makai Lemon has not fully figured out his role in the Eagles offense and has not been a needle mover for the team. Matt Harmon notes Lemon had a Texas route (a cheat code for great receivers) but 'didn't do anything with it.' Harmon is frustrated that Lemon is being used on design touches and screens rather than his strengths—out cuts and over-the-middle routes where he excels. Harmon says 'they're almost like trying to justify his presence on the field by like, Oh, let's get him these easy button touches. But I don't really know that he's going to do anything with those consistently.' From a dynasty/panic standpoint, Harmon is not freaking out given Lemon's offseason injuries and slow-start profile, but 'he just hasn't really been a needle mover for this team yet.'

Insight page
NegativeRole18:25

Lemon is being used for easy-button touches to justify his presence on the field rather than being deployed in the role where he excelled at USC (out routes); Matt Harmon notes he hasn't been a needle mover for the Eagles yet and they're desperate for another playmaker beyond DeVante Smith. Harmon would prefer the Eagles run more out routes—Lemon's college strength and Jalen Hurts' accuracy—rather than the current approach.

Insight page

Malik Nabers

NegativeRole35:10

Malik Nabers' situation worsened with the Giants trading for J.J. McCarthy to replace injured Jackson Dart; McCarthy is a rookie-level player who hasn't shown much and is moving from Minnesota's good coaching ecosystem to a messy Giants situation. Justin Boone is not excited about McCarthy for fantasy and notes that Nabers, unlike Justin Jefferson, won't sugarcoat McCarthy's performance in media. The Giants offense is not in a great spot with this transition.

Insight page
NegativeRole60:03

Nabers is in a dire situation with Jackson Dart's injury removing the quarterback elevating talent around him; the Giants offense lacks a competent QB with Jameis Winston also underperforming. Nabers is dealing with a long-term shoulder issue (unrepaired since LSU, aggravated in week 2) that may lead to season shutdown by week 11 for surgery, with hopes to emerge as his best self in 2027. Matt Harmon is at total panic on Nabers, ranking him low-end WR2 range despite his talent level, because the New York environment makes high-end outcomes impossible.

Insight page

Matthew Golden

NegativeRole60:40

Matthew Golden is mentioned in the context of Packers receiver depth; if he misses time alongside Christian Watson (with Jaden Reed already out), Tucker Kraft would see an expanded role in the passing game.

Insight page

Nico Collins

NegativeInjury63:51

Nico Collins is out, and the Texans offense is non-functional without him. Matt Harmon notes the outside receiver group is among the worst in the league without Collins and Jaden Higgins. The offense will be better when Collins returns, but the lack of depth at receiver is a significant constraint on the passing attack.

Insight page

Quentin Johnston

NegativeProjection84:11

Quentin Johnston (QJ) is in coping corner for Matt Harmon due to the Chargers' offensive dysfunction. The entire offense is underperforming, and there's nothing going right for the team.

Insight page

Rhamondre Stevenson

NegativeRole56:00

Rhamondre Stevenson remains the lead back in New England's committee despite Travon Henderson's strong week 2 performance (fumble by Stevenson, big run by Henderson). Stevenson was over 50% of snaps in week 3, and the speaker expects this lead role to continue rather than Henderson taking over. Stevenson was drafted as RB25 and still belongs in that range.

Insight page
PositiveMatchup56:45

Rhamondre Stevenson faces improved run-defense matchups ahead after tough early-season defenses (Seahawks week 1, Steelers and Jaguars weeks 2-3). Upcoming matchups against Bills, Raiders, Jets, Bears, Dolphins, and Packers are not nearly as tough, creating potential for Stevenson to find the end zone and move into RB2 range in favorable weeks, though he remains a high-end RB3 overall.

Insight page
PositiveBreakout58:05

Matt Harmon expresses optimism about Ramondre Stevenson's potential to turn things around, suggesting there is reason for cautious optimism about his fantasy outlook.

Insight page

Saquon Barkley

NegativeProjection13:00

Saquon Barkley had 15 carries for 82 yards but did not score a touchdown in the Eagles' 27-7 loss to Chicago. Hayden Winks notes the run game was actually working in this game but 'it's still just didn't matter' given the overall offensive dysfunction. The Eagles are 28th in running back success rate (34%) this season.

Insight page
NegativeProjection21:21

Matt Harmon is ranking Saquon Barkley around RB12-14 for the next two weeks (Rams and Jaguars matchups) due to the Eagles' offensive line struggles; he notes Barkley only had two receptions in Week 3 and will lose some tush-push touchdown opportunities. However, Harmon emphasizes this is a box-score problem, not a talent decline—Barkley still looks awesome and ranks high in forced missed tackles.

Insight page

Ted Hurst

NegativeRole71:53

Ted Hurst is an interesting stash but can't be trusted without clarity on the Buccaneers' quarterback situation. The offense is too uncertain to get excited about any players until the QB situation stabilizes.

Insight page

Travis Etienne

NegativeInjury31:49

Travis Etienne has a hamstring injury with an uncertain timeline for return; he will miss some time but the exact duration is unclear.

Insight page

Tucker Kraft

NegativeInjury58:05

Tucker Kraft is recovering from a serious injury with managed snap counts and pitch counts, limiting his early-season production. Despite 84% route share in week two (up from 47% week one) and 72% last week with eight targets in week three (12th among tight ends through three weeks), Matt Harmon characterizes him as a low-end tight end one rather than the mid-range tight end one he was drafted as, with the caveat that he could improve as he gets further removed from injury. Harmon places him in 'total panic' territory for now but not a drop candidate, expecting better days ahead, particularly with a favorable Buccaneers matchup coming up.

Insight page
NegativeRole60:55

Matt Harmon says Kraft is not a set-it-and-forget-it starter right now and recommends checking the waiver wire for streaming options until he becomes fully operational; however, Harmon would not drop him outright. Kraft has favorable upcoming matchups (Bucks, Bears, Cowboys, Lions, Panthers) and the Packers offense should be concentrated without Jane Reed, but Harmon suggests considering waiver wire alternatives this week depending on available options.

Insight page

Zach Ertz

NegativeUsage20:54

Zach Ertz ran 13 routes and played 18 snaps in Week 3 but caught only one pass for nine yards; the Eagles are forced to run 11 personnel on every snap due to the state of their tight end room. At this point in his career, limited production is expected, especially after signing just before the week began.

0:00Big Show for you guys here. Oh, it's a packed one today because Justin Boone makes his triumphant return to the Peoples Panic Meter and the waiver wire.
0:08We have so much to get into news that we got on Monday morning, including a devastating injury to a high end
0:14running back in fantasy football, plus a quarterback trade that's going to affect Malik neighbors in the panic meter.
0:19Emeka Ibuka quarterback injury. We talk him in the panic meter.
0:22Then we go through all of your submissions and we have a lot of coping corner candidates to get to today.
0:28Yes, we are already at that point of the NFL season, plus some players you need to add on the waiver wire.
0:34Also, we start off the show with a recap of a banger of a Monday night football game case Keenum.
0:39We let our case Keenum flag fly. If you know, you know on that reference.
0:43All right, all that and more come up on today's show.
0:46Let's get into it. What's going on, everyone? I'm Matt Harmon.
0:49Welcome to the Yahoo Fantasy Forecast nightcap, and it is a hell of a night to talk ball because Monday night football.
0:55Oh boy. What a game. What a great topper to an electric week of football.
0:59Joining me to break it all down is my guy Hayden Winks.
1:03Hayden, what's going on, man? Pretty exciting game there.
1:05I love when we get a little backup quarterback in there, an old unk and just delivers the offense as it was designed.
1:11So obviously that was the big storyline here, but very exciting game.
1:15No question. We've got Bears 27 Eagles 7 and as always and where else could we start?
1:19We have to start with the team that won this football game.
1:23Hayden mentioned it. Case Keenum 247 passing yards, two touchdowns, a rushing touchdown on an old school traditional sneak.
1:28You love to see it against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Tush push merchants, as some would call them.
1:33Case Keenum gets it done with the sneak there.
1:35Yeah, look, this was what a fun night for Case Keenum, man.
1:38I in no way could have seen this performance coming.
1:41Who could have seen this performance coming? But Hayden, my first thought when I saw him, you know, just tear it up
1:47on the first drive, honestly, and I think I tweeted about this.
1:51You will never be able to convince me that these elite offensive play callers don't relish.
1:55I'm not saying they want these guys for the long term, but don't relish at least a small one game, two game
2:01sample where they get to have the backup quarterback to just paint by numbers, color within the lines, the whole deal and bring their scheme to life.
2:08And that is exactly what we got tonight with Ben Johnson and Case Keenum.
2:12It's like that part of your resume, maybe towards the bottom, like skills or something like credentials and like these coaches just
2:18love like, hey, remember that Case Keenum game that I went through?
2:21So I completely agree. And you kind of noticed it right away that Case Keenum is like way in command of what Ben Johnson was doing.
2:29It seemed like their microphone was like right next to him in the pre snaps on the TV.
2:33You can just hear him just calling out the mics and obviously every quarterback is doing this, but he just seems so calm collected.
2:40He was also feeling himself that one play later on the game.
2:43He kind of does that sidestep in traffic where I thought he was for sure going to fumble it.
2:49So his confidence was building as the game progressed there.
2:51Maybe he got a little bit carried away, but every single way that you dice up the stats here, Case Keenum excelled.
2:57I'm looking at the blitz numbers. He was 10 of 12 against the blitz for 134 yards, two touchdowns under center was completely lights out.
3:04He had 10 completions on under center play action, which is, you know, compared to the Eagles.
3:09They have six on the entire season. So he was doing a little bit of everything.
3:13Obviously, a little bit of everything includes Kalief Raymond being the leading receiver as usual.
3:17So pretty exciting stuff for Case Keenum here. Yeah, no question.
3:20Case Keenum, 8.44 adjusted net yards per attempt. That is the sixth best game by a Bears quarterback since Ben Johnson took this thing over.
3:27And you look at the other ones on the list here.
3:30We're showing them on the screen if you're watching with us on YouTube.
3:34It's the Cowboys game for Caleb Williams. Obviously, you know, that defense was horrible last year.
3:38They have the Panthers performances, number two, the Bengals defense for number three for Caleb Williams.
3:42I'm not saying any of this to take away from Caleb Williams.
3:46It's just to put into context what an awesome night Case Keenum just had executing this offense and, you know, making some
3:52plays to like, you know, some some moving around the whole deal.
3:55It was really great to see. I mean, Caleb Williams is going to miss at least a couple more games here, maybe more.
4:01How are they not playing Case Keenum going forward at this point?
4:05Oh, yeah. Yeah. Tyson Bajan is a figment of our imagination.
4:08At this point, Case Keenum is is the man he's he played so well.
4:11He's 38 years old. He can probably sign three more years of backup quarterback play if he wants it.
4:17Like that's all it takes for him. So really enjoyed this one.
4:20It was cool to see DeAndre Swift at least pick up 84 yards there.
4:24My question to you is just like moving forward.
4:26Luther Burden, he scores the touchdown. He was heavily involved early on in the game.
4:30I loved that. The design touch they got down there.
4:33Colson Loveland is an inch away from scoring a touchdown.
4:36I do not know how he did not score on that one, but still only four targets when Case Keenum threw the ball 34 times.
4:43And then our guy Roma Dunze, I mean wide open.
4:45This just happens too often with Roma Dunze. I you can make a highlight reel from him of like him getting open.
4:51And then if you cut it at the last second to exclude all of his drops, man.
4:56But like what is what are we supposed to do with these Bears pass catchers moving forward?
5:01Because this is another game where Kalief Raymond has seven targets, has the explosive.
5:04And it's kind of like the underneath outlets. Like I'm still kind of perplexed on what to do with my rankings moving forward.
5:11And he played the second most snaps of all the pass catchers beyond Roma Dunze.
5:15Like he's out there all the time is Kalief Raymond.
5:18And yeah, just quick on the Roma Dunze drop.
5:20I mean, good God. I'm a pretty emotionless football watcher.
5:23Like I enjoy the games. I'm never like truly tilting about things.
5:26It's just, yeah, I don't know. It's just not the way I am that I'm riding the exercise bike in the first half of this game.
5:33You know, that's how I like to do the first half of these primetime games.
5:37Keep the blood flowing, whatever. You know, you got to get it in when you can.
5:42I audibly yelled, you've got to be kidding me.
5:44When he dropped that pass, man. Because it's just so frustrating.
5:47It is so frustrating, dude. This guy is, it's just, he does everything so well except finish these plays.
5:52And it's like, well, okay. This is where the comments, it's like, well, separation, route running.
5:57Doesn't matter if you can't catch football. It's like, yeah, you know what?
6:00I got nothing to say for you tonight. I got nothing to say for you tonight because he did have some cool catches otherwise.
6:07And there's a pass where like Case Keenan probably put it behind him when he could have got a first down.
6:13He drew a holding penalty. I can sit there and do all that stuff.
6:16But it's like, my God, if you're going to drop that wide ass open touchdown.
6:21I mean, look at that. Look at that. I don't know what to say.
6:24It is so frustrating, especially because the debates about a Dunzee as a prospect wasn't even like, Oh, he, you know, whatever.
6:30He can't catch. Yeah. It was like, well, he can't separate calling card.
6:34This was his calling card. It's just, it's like, it's got to be in his head at this point.
6:39And I don't really know. Like I said, I don't really know what to say.
6:43I have no defense for the Dunzee stuff tonight.
6:46Like, let it rip Luther burden bros. Let it rip everybody.
6:49That's a Roma Dunzee hater. I don't really know what to say about it other than that.
6:53And yeah, on the Kalief Raymond part of the equation here.
6:56Yeah, this is real. Like he's, he is going to be a problem for all of us.
7:01Like regardless of where you stood on the culture war of this bears pass catcher versus the other.
7:06I don't think anybody on earth hate and accounted for the fact that this guy was going to have a real deal role.
7:12And he absolutely does. Like if anybody has the Amon Ross St.
7:16Brown role of this offense, like it's, it's actually the guy who wears number 14.
7:20Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this is the same kind of splits from this game as the previous ones.
7:25And that Luther burden plays about half the snaps outside of 11 personnel and Kalief Raymond plays the other half of them.
7:31And then in 11 personnel, Kalief Raymond is the slot for the most of the snaps and not Luther burden.
7:36And I think like definitely so right now, like Luther burden is the one that you can put in your starting lineups.
7:42And I think that Colson Loveland and Roma doans.
7:45Like we're getting to the point where it's, it's absolutely have to prove it to me first.
7:49And I think the hard part with Colson Loveland is it's not just that he's like falling obviously in like rest of season rankings.
7:56It's at the rest of the tight end position is flying up rest of season rankings.
8:00So there's, there's probably 14 tight ends that you can like legitimately have a debate over Colson Loveland.
8:05He's such a good player, but man, like there's like not getting him the football.
8:09I think part of the reason is because Kalief Raymond and Luther burden are just like wide open underneath.
8:14And they just have like not been making Colson level in that priority.
8:18So I think right now in fantasy, I think for next week, it's pretty hard to trust Kyle Monunga with a backup quarterback, but you're starting DeAndre Swift.
8:26I think you're starting Luther burden as a wide receiver three with upside.
8:29And then kind of everyone else is like on the periphery.
8:32I'm not sure if you have another opinion. I think that's pretty right.
8:36You know, if you have a backup plan at tight end, I definitely think it's, it's time for that with Colson Loveland.
8:42Like these guys are all so talented, a dunes included like that, that things can change quickly.
8:46You know, and Cleve Raymond is, is, is, is a 32 year old player.
8:50Like there's a chance that this is one of those classic, the veteran who knows the offense starts off fast.
8:56And then he fades as the season goes on.
8:58I'm totally open to that, but where we're living in right now, I don't see any reason for Ben Johnson to dial
9:04his role back just because of, you know, draft capital or whatever for these other players.
9:09Next game, they get the jet, the jets defense and excuse me, the jets in week four.
9:13That defense is, is certainly gettable. The offense for New York is cooking.
9:17I mean, there's definitely a path where these guys pop off next week.
9:20Um, so yeah, it's just like, that's where I'm at with these pass catchers.
9:24And, uh, yeah, I think Luther burden definitely, this was his best game for sure.
9:28I thought the first two games were a little rockier for him, but still it's 4.45 air yards per target.
9:34Like at some point you want to think that he's going to get going down the football field too.
9:39And I think he's definitely capable of doing that.
9:41Just last thing to kind of close the loop on these bears pass catchers.
9:45Hayden, I say this in the panic meter show, which if you're listening to us on the audio side, you're going to
9:51hear this in just a moment about like Brian Thomas jr and Marvin Harrison jr.
9:55And I think this fits for Roma dunes day as well.
9:58It's ironic. These guys are all from the same 2024 draft class.
10:02Like if you're an X primary receiver and rum does play other positions, but he mostly in this offense this year is
10:08the X given that Kali frame and Luther bird, the other guys we're talking about.
10:12And you were not so clearly the best pass catcher on your team.
10:15It is really difficult in today's NFL to be like every week, consistent fantasy option.
10:19I mean, I can't, I'm sitting, I'd love to sit here and think of who that player is.
10:24That's kind of the, the second best pass catcher on his team.
10:28And you know, they don't have like Caleb, obviously it's great case game playing in this game, the whole deal, but like
10:34a, like a Joe burrow type of quarterback. It's really hard to be in every single week fantasy starter when, when you're that player.
10:40Yeah. I was going to say T Higgins, but like, you know, that's because you have, first of all, T Higgins is awesome.
10:46And then you also, you have Joe burrow. So it's, it's a very difficult role.
10:51You need like some manufactured touches to, to create a floor and Roma dunes.
10:54He's just like not going to get those right now.
10:57So totally agree on that point, but man, just like so awesome for Ben Johnson to get a performance where we like,
11:03we can have some confidence with the Chicago bears next week in an awesome matchup.
11:07But yeah, that's absolutely fantastic. Thank God for us.
11:10And this transition is pretty cleanly to the Eagles.
11:12Cause I actually first wanted to talk about the defense with you before we talk about the offense, because kind of the
11:18continuation of that conversation, watching the Eagles defense tonight.
11:21And this is something I've been thinking about, but with defenses the last few weeks, I'm like, again, talk about this later
11:27on in the show with Boone about David Montgomery and how it relates to the Texans defense.
11:31Like you can have great pass catchers, you can have great cornerbacks.
11:35And I think the Eagles have that and the Texans do as well.
11:38But if you have linebackers and safeties that you can pick on in coverage, it is really, again, hard to be an elite defense.
11:45And Andrew Okuba was like, this was a disaster night for him.
11:48This is a burn the tape type of night for him.
11:51They picked on those players in coverage all night.
11:53And that is something that even, I think the Eagles are a good defense.
11:57They have really talented players, but that was an issue all night for Philadelphia.
12:01It really was. Losses throughout the year as well.
12:04So he was, I mean, obviously a complete lights out player before and like he isn't, he isn't getting picked on, but
12:10there has just been more moments where Cooper Jean has been at fault.
12:13So yeah, the Eagles defense right now, they don't have like elite edge rushers right now.
12:18And they are having a couple more either missed tackles or coverage bust over the middle of the football field.
12:23They still have Quinnian Mitchell and Rick Wollin, which for the most part has been really well working really well this season.
12:29Uh, but the spine of the defense is just making more mistakes.
12:32They're not creating as much, uh, pass rush, uh, movement either.
12:35Um, so yeah, this is, this is not like an S tier defense.
12:39It's like one down from that. And the offense is like, just not picking up the pace either.
12:44So like, this is, this is where you could have squinted and seen how the Eagles like a real legit, uh, uh,
12:50contender, but right now they just feel a beat off and that's both sides of the ball.
12:54Yeah. And it's funny how Vic Fangio was sort of the original boogeyman for, you know, Sean McVay when he was on
13:01that real come up and Ben Johnson's got him twice and back to back years.
13:05And this one a little bit was, uh, it was the run game for the most part in that black Friday game last year.
13:11This one, uh, run game ended up being pretty good, but it was for the most part kind of picking them apart
13:17across, as you said, the spine of the defense Eagles offense, uh, thoughts on that unit in what was again, a pretty shaky performance.
13:24What was so frustrating about this one is the run game was actually working in this one and it's still just didn't matter.
13:30So Saquon 15 carries for 82 yards does not get the touchdown.
13:33Obviously Jalen, uh, Jalen Hurts gets one going into halftime, which by the way, that was, that was an awesome moment.
13:39Uh, Jalen Hurts just instead of, you know, trying to spike the ball, just, uh, runs it in himself, like going in, uh, into a halftime.
13:46But the rest of the offense just feels, it's not exactly the same way that they were losing in the previous couple
13:52of seasons, but it's pretty close to that. And just some stats to kind of throw out there big picture.
13:58The Eagles are 28th and running back success rate this season at 34%.
14:01They're 30th in success rate versus the blitz at 35%.
14:04They're 32nd in screen yards at negative 12. They are 32nd in under center play action completions this year at six.
14:10Uh, and then like players like Makai Lemon, like they have just like not fully figured it out.
14:15So it's just one of those where it's the blitz, the screen game, the under center play action.
14:20Like we've talked about this before with the Philadelphia Eagles and, uh, those stats are popping up once again.
14:25It's not that surprising, right? Um, it was tempting to say because the matchups were so good through the first three weeks
14:31of the season, maybe this wouldn't be the case, but didn't this feel like all along it was going to take some
14:37time for this unit to make what's pretty, a pretty schematic, hard schematic left turn.
14:41And now they have to do it without the run game carrying its weight, even though to your point, like tonight it
14:47was certainly better than it was in the first two games of the season.
14:51And they don't have the tight ends that they'd like out there to really get into all these different formations and everything.
14:57I really think at this point, it's going to be one of those, Hey, if it clicks for Philadelphia, it's probably going
15:03to be a back half of the season type of offense.
15:06Yeah, I totally agree. The one thing that's been working is just the, the 50, 50 balls to Devante Smith just continue
15:12to work done on Davian Wicks is like showing real, like a route running chops, like that big out route that he had.
15:18That was a special moment, but that can't be like the only part of the past game.
15:23Like there's just not easy completions in this offense.
15:25And like that, the interception to Jalen hurts is left there watching that play back again.
15:30There's not a single route available on the right side of the football field.
15:33And it looks like there's gonna be like a lot of pre-snap pressure and some of them drop out into coverage.
15:39And then the rest of the routes are just like quick little, uh, uh, hitches to the left.
15:44And Jalen hurts is like obviously staring those down because there's literally not a route on the entire right side of the field.
15:50So it's like little things like that. I can't wait to watch this game back tomorrow for, for stats versus film, but
15:56they're just not like a whole lot of creativity here.
15:59There's a little bit of motion, but for the most part, just kind of like the same shotgun offense that they've been
16:05running for the last couple of seasons. Awesome catch by Devante Smith as an X receiver tonight.
16:10That was really cool to see. Uh, he has just been balling through the first three weeks of the season.
16:15Yeah. Good contributions from Wicks. I certainly, if you, if you played him in fantasy, you wanted more than what you got tonight.
16:22Um, two catches for 32 yards. He had a deep one that Jalen put it a little out of reach and then
16:28ultimately he can't corral it, which was unfortunate. But yeah, I mean, Wicks has been, it's just, it's really nice to see.
16:34Wicks is a positive force in this offense. Where are you at with McKay lemon's lack of contributions at this point?
16:39Yeah. I mean, it's becoming an issue. I did not like at one point in the game, they had him in the
16:45backfield and they ran that little Texas route, uh, which has like been the cheat code for like the last five years,
16:51like every single great wide receiver on that route, like scores a touchdown and he didn't do anything with it.
16:57Um, and then all, all the screen stuff is just not worked, you know, and not all of that is his fault.
17:03Obviously like a lot of screen stuff is just like, did you hit the block or not?
17:08And the Eagles have been terrible at that. They're the worst team in the NFL on screens.
17:12Like that's not the worst team. And at some point, a lot of the routes are a little bit Mickey mousey for me.
17:19He's not super explosive. And so like, I think that even those type of routes, like it's, it's got such a low ceiling on them.
17:25Like, I think for me, it was like his ball tracking over the middle and his toughness over the middle.
17:31And I don't think that you're going to really unlock that skillset if he's going to be working at and behind the line of scrimmage.
17:38Like he's not going to be the type that catches a screen and houses it for 70 yards.
17:43Like you're going to have to get more crossing routes, uh, over the middle here.
17:47Um, so that that's kind of been the frustration with me.
17:50He had, he had one of those or maybe two of them in this game, but, um, he's not going to be super explosive.
17:56So you have to use him and tailor his role to his strengths, which to me, they have not done quite enough.
18:02Yeah. I think it was on the final drive for Philadelphia where he did have one of those catches that you're kind of describing.
18:09Like, yeah, I just would love to see more of that with him.
18:12I never saw him as kind of a design touches type of receiver.
18:16He's, he's someone that you want to get in motion.
18:19And, you know, you mentioned like over the middle of the field, I loved how he was used on out cuts at
18:25USC, where that to me is like where you'd ideally want him to be in this offense.
18:29The problem is that's kind of what Wicks is doing in this offense.
18:33So they almost are kind of, this sounds really harsh to say, and I don't mean it was, they're almost like trying
18:39to justify his presence on the field by like, Oh, let's get him these easy button touches.
18:44But I don't really know that he's going to do anything with those consistently.
18:47So from a, like a dynasty standpoint or a panic standpoint, I'm not freaking out about Makai Lemon, because I think he
18:53was always going to be a slow start player with all of his off season injuries, but he just hasn't really been
18:59a needle mover for this team yet. And they're really kind of desperate for another needle mover beyond Devante Smith.
19:05Cause Wicks is again, a rock solid player. And I think a guy that you can, you can get away with it
19:11with him as your wide receiver too, but you'd love for this to be like a two way in a two B
19:17situation that just has an apple with Makai Lemon.
19:19Right. Right. But he was so money on those out routes at USC.
19:23Like that was like, actually the gimme play for, for USC, uh, the last couple of seasons.
19:28So, and Jalen hurts is accurate on those throws.
19:30Like to me, I would like to scrap out all just like run those.
19:34Like that's what he was good at college. That's what your, your quarterback is good at is throwing the ball to the perimeter.
19:40Uh, and let's just see if that works a little bit more than what it's, what's been going on here.
19:46So, uh, and the last night, like there was a couple of plays where like cam Juergen just misses a block one-on-one.
19:52Like they're still having some moments of that. Every quarterback deals with that.
19:55But, uh, like you have noticed, like this is not the super bowl offensive line.
19:59They played better this week than they had previously where it was like a actual, like big problem.
20:04This was more of a mediocre game from the offensive line.
20:07But you know, when they were winning the super bowl and Jalen hurts was playing like a top 10 quarterback, uh, that offensive line was dynamite.
20:14And this offensive line, just like, it's just not going to hit that potential again.
20:19No, it's not. Um, I am hoping to see their team.
20:22They don't have a buy till week 10. So like the whole post by rookie bump thing for Makai lemon, you know, hopefully it comes sooner than that.
20:29Right. Uh, hopefully it comes after, I don't know, maybe a mini buy, right.
20:33Uh, they talked about that with Thursday night stuff.
20:35That'd be great. If we had one of those games, we don't have any of those games before their actual buy week.
20:41So, um, we'll see with that part of it, cause it kind of feels like they didn't originally plan to be this 11 personnel team.
20:48And now they pretty much have to run that out every single snap because of the state of their tight end room.
20:54Uh, Zach Ertz played, he ran 13 routes in this game, played 18 snaps.
20:58Didn't know that, uh, based on watching the game, uh, on broadcast really.
21:02Cause he just caught the one pass for nine yards.
21:04But I mean, yeah, it's Zach Ertz at this point of his career.
21:08Like, what are we expecting? He's, he signed like two seconds before this week got really rolling here.
21:13So yeah, it's difficult for sure where the Eagles offense is right now, especially as they go into a much harder portion
21:19of their schedule with the Rams and then an international trip against Jacksonville in week five.
21:23They do eventually then get Panthers, Cowboys, commanders, and giants before that buy.
21:27But these next two weeks, I don't think I'll be ranking Saquon Barkley as a top.
21:31Like, I mean, maybe a top 10, probably top 10 running back, I guess maybe fringe top 10 running back, but it's
21:37pretty dicey with the state of the, uh, offensive line at this standpoint.
21:41I kind of been ranking him like around RB 12 to like 14.
21:44I feel pretty good about that. Only two receptions for Saquon Barkley.
21:48And then obviously you're going to lose some of the, the tush push touchdowns to it.
21:52So it's like a weird needle. He has to thread.
21:55I will say individually, I think that Saquon Barkley still looks awesome.
21:58And he, and he's, he's really high up there on like the, the force miss tackles pretend it's like this is it's Saquon Barkley's box score problem.
22:05I don't think this is a Saquon Barkley has lost a step problem to me at all here.
22:10Um, and then on your Zach Ertz point, uh, you guys got to follow Zach Ertz, uh, yak on, on, on Twitter.
22:16It just tells you if he broke a tackle or not.
22:19Uh, and the one tweet, nope. That was all you had today.
22:23One. Nope. Do you think that account ever thought it would still exist in the year 2026, especially with back with the Philadelphia Eagles?
22:29Uh, look at that. What a, what a time.
22:32If nothing changes really like case Keenum's throwing heaters and Zach Ertz is in breaking tackles.
22:36Unbelievable stuff. Yeah. Again, what a night for case Keenum.
22:39This was, uh, this is a game I'm going to remember for a really long time.
22:43Cause that was just really cool to see for him.
22:46And, and we'll see how long he can sustain this.
22:49Cause it just is really, God, this tweet is so funny.
22:52It's just great to see a quarterback really bring what's a really well-designed offense to life.
22:56And again, this is no shade to Kayla Williams cause he has played well.
23:00Uh, there's just, you almost just want him. You almost want Caleb Williams to have like 5% more.
23:05I don't know what the exact meter is, but is it just like 5% more of case Keenum to him in a weird way?
23:11Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think I'll raise that to 10.
23:14I was watching the same thing here. It would bring a little bit more consistency.
23:18Uh, also this is just going to buy them more time if they could pull off another quote upset, uh, over the next couple of weeks.
23:25Cause it's a grade two hamstring injury. And obviously you don't want a setback for Kayla Williams here.
23:30They get the jets Packers and Falcons. Like maybe they ride all the way through that Falcons game before bringing him, uh, back.
23:37So, you know, the better case Keenum plays, but the longer that they could have Kayla Williams just sit there and rehab.
23:43Hell of a night. All right. That's going to do it for our Monday night football nightcap here.
23:48And we will check you guys all out next time.
23:50All right. That does it for our Monday night nightcap.
23:53Now let's toss to the rest of the show with Justin Boone, making his triumphant return to the panic meter and the waiver wire.
24:00Let's get into it. It is a hell of a day to talk ball and joining me to do just that is my good friend, Justin Boone.
24:07Boone, it has been way too long since you and I have been together on this podcast feed.
24:12Yeah. We've had fantasy football live. Yeah. We've, we've seen each other in Monday meetings.
24:16We we've, we've, we've obviously spoken several times over the last few weeks, but I've missed you pal on this show.
24:22Scott P now, he's been holding it down. I know you were holding it down for me on the preview last week,
24:28but it is good to see you on the other side of this call.
24:32What's going on, man. How you doing? Yeah, we're back buddy.
24:35I am great. Like there was of course a couple of rough weeks there to start the season, had a death in the family.
24:41Thank you to everybody for the support who watches the shows.
24:44Thank you to Scottie P for stepping in for me in those shows.
24:48Really appreciate that. And then, yeah, you take an early bi-week Harmon.
24:51What is that all about? We're taking an early bi-week.
24:54Look, that's a mistake, man. Nobody wants an early bi-week.
24:56That is going to come to haunt you later in the season.
25:00I mean, number one, never. I've never taken a bi-week ever.
25:03Okay. I don't know if you can call it a bi-week considering still was on the Sunday night recap last night was watching games on the plane.
25:10I knew it would bother you if I said that.
25:13Yeah, it's been. Well, because again, I think I was told that you said this on the preview show.
25:18Producer Colin or maybe JB. Maybe it was Jung.
25:21I don't know. One of them tattled on you.
25:23I mean, producer Colin can't say anything. He was also taking time off last week.
25:27So a lot of people apparently were taking a bunch of time off.
25:31But anyway, we're back in the groove here, man.
25:33We're feeling good. We're raring to go. I'm fired up.
25:36I told you I'm in mid-season form. This is great.
25:39And I can't wait. I got a lot of panic here that we got to get out that's just been storing up in me for a couple weeks.
25:46Oh, good. Maybe there's some players you should have submitted to the People's Panic Meter.
25:50Because yeah, this is a packed show. It is good to be back with Boone and certainly feeling good that I'm here
25:56with you and definitely been thinking about your family.
25:59And man, I'm just, you know, love you, buddy.
26:01Love all the Boones. Love the whole family, the whole deal.
26:04So yes, it's a packed show, though. We got a lot to get into.
26:08We've got the People's Panic Meter. We've got waiver wire targets.
26:11Tons of stuff coming up. However, we have a little bit of fantasy fallout before we get into all that.
26:17Because we've got a bunch of injury news to discuss on this show, starting with some really bad news.
26:22Miami Dolphins running back Devon A. Chan is going to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL against the Chiefs on Sunday.
26:29And again, when I was on my bye week, quote unquote, I was watching this game on the airplane and, you know, saw the play.
26:36You know, his face mask gets grabbed and he kind of pulls up lame.
26:40It's like, oh, that didn't look that bad. But yeah, torn ACL for Devon A.
26:44Chan. He's going to miss the rest of the season.
26:46I'm sure we're going to be talking about some of the potential replacements later on in the waiver wire, Boone.
26:52But reaction to the Dolphins losing by far their best skill position player here.
26:56I had, and I think I brought it up a couple times on the show.
27:00I had this like gut feeling in the summer.
27:02It wasn't based on anything really real. It was just the idea that this is a smaller back who's had big workloads, made it through last season healthy.
27:10Now he was going to have to carry this team.
27:13And I was worried that this is how his season was going to end, that he was going to have another massive
27:19workload and that he was going to break down because of it.
27:22That's not exactly what happened here because he kind of had normal workloads and it's early in the season.
27:27But still, we're going to be without A. Chan.
27:30And I had a couple of dynasty teams, Harmon, where I have been contending with those teams.
27:34And now based on this injury and a couple other things, I might actually have to go into rebuild mode on a couple of these.
27:41So that is how catastrophic this is for fantasy managers out there.
27:44And the unfortunate part is normally with backfields, we have someone to look to where we can get excited and say, OK,
27:50well, at least fantasy wise, there's going to be opportunity that comes up here.
27:54This guy's going to step into it. Now that person can get into our fantasy lineups.
27:59And yet here, we're not totally sure how this is going to play out, right?
28:03Olly Gordon got the opportunity this week. That was because Jalen Wright was out with an injury of his own.
28:08He was dealing with a stinger and a foot injury.
28:11We got word today, this afternoon, that now he's day to day.
28:14We might have Wright back at practice here. So Olly Gordon wasn't very efficient this week.
28:19He found the end zone to kind of save his fantasy day.
28:22If I had to pick between them, I do like him as the better back.
28:26I liked him as a prospect. I thought there was a lot more to be unlocked there with him.
28:31And yet this isn't a great offense. These guys are nowhere near Devon Achan.
28:35So we can't expect that they're going to produce the way he did and have that kind of efficiency.
28:40So, man, it's like not a great situation all around.
28:43It's terrible news for Achan. We're wishing him the best.
28:46I hope he can come back totally healthy in 2027.
28:48And yet looking at this backfield now, it's like if you want to put one of these guys in your lineup, all
28:54you're really looking at is like an RB3 who's probably going to be in some sort of split or committee.
29:00This offense is 27th in EPA per play. They're 31st in success rate so far this season.
29:05I mean, I don't know that I would be.
29:07I know we showed the tweet from Hayden Winks earlier, and I think he said that perfectly.
29:12I don't know that I want to be swimming in these waters.
29:15You know, fish analogy here. I know dolphins are mammals, but nevertheless, fish analogy here.
29:19Notwithstanding, I don't know that I really want to be swimming in these waters because, I mean, Achan removing him here.
29:25He's a type of player that creates a lot of gravity, too, in the passing game.
29:29Obviously, he's a really good pass catcher as well, so I think this is just a net negative for the entire offense.
29:35Wasn't really playing anybody from this offense consistently, and I don't think I'm going to end up playing the backups to Devon Achan here.
29:42He was not on track to have a great fantasy season as it is, and, you know, it's really unfortunate.
29:47Actually, the play, I think the play that he got hurt on where the offensive line is like out in space, and
29:53you saw Patrick Paul like kicking butt in the open field there.
29:57I mean, that's just that was like, oh, this is the vision.
30:00Like, okay, maybe we're going to get something from Achan here in week three, and it just ultimately doesn't happen.
30:05At least he got paid before the season, the $64 million contract.
30:09That's for sure. At least he got that. Good for him.
30:12Yeah, and it also sucks because this whole offense, he's the engine of it, right?
30:16Now you're taking away the absolute best player there, so it's kind of bringing down everybody.
30:20We're going to talk about some of these guys, including, like, the receivers when we get to the waiver wire section, and
30:26yet no one's like a league winner here. Always opportunity.
30:29Anytime a back gets hurt and somebody else gets to step into that void and get that opportunity, and maybe you get
30:35surprised, and all of a sudden a guy comes on and does something that you didn't expect, but not really sure that that's the case here.
30:42And that's why, and again, we'll get into it a little more and talk about, like, specific bids, but normally when you
30:48have a guy go down for the year and the backup's going to step into potentially a role for the rest of
30:54the season, I'm very aggressive on the waiver wire, and my bids normally in the waiver wire column, I'm putting them very
31:00high to get that player, and this time we're just bidding, like, under 10% for these guys.
31:05We are not spending a lot of fab on them.
31:07No, we are not. I like that you brought up about the receivers actually might in a roundabout way be the guys
31:13who benefit here because, and again, we'll talk about it when we get to the waiver wire section.
31:18We might be looking at one of the worst pass defenses I've ever seen in the NFL.
31:23It is unbelievably bad. The Dolphins are going to be behind in a lot of games this year.
31:28Let's get to some of the other news, and I'm just going to actually throw these out as a grab bag, and
31:34you tell me if anybody kind of grabs you here.
31:37Brees Hall considered week-to-week with a quad injury. I think that's the biggest one.
31:41Travis Achan, he has a hamstring. He's going to miss some time, but the timeline is uncertain.
31:45And then for Justin Jefferson, he avoided a long-term injury.
31:48There's actually a chance that he plays on Sunday.
31:50Again, I think Brees Hall is the one where he's going to miss the most time.
31:55I'm sure we are talking about his backup in the waiver wire section later on.
31:59In fact, I know that because we have a doc here, and I can look at it.
32:04We'll be talking about Braylon Allen a little bit later on.
32:07But any of these injuries, anything grab you from these three?
32:10Yeah, Braylon Allen, even though we're probably not talking about a guy taking over for the rest of the season, he is
32:16a player that we've seen perform pretty well. Even perform well in that kind of complementary role, right?
32:20He's been getting a decent amount of touches in that backfield.
32:23He's been getting some goal line work. He scored a touchdown.
32:27So he's somebody that I am excited about for however long he's going to get to start.
32:31They're saying week to week with Brees Hall, it's tough to get injury information out of Aaron Glenn.
32:36I didn't think we were going to get anything until later in the week.
32:40But fortunately, we got some reports today that said week to week.
32:43So it looks like we're going to get a chance to see what Braylon Allen can do for a few weeks here as the starter.
32:50And that's a player that I do want to go out and get and get into my lineup.
32:55So he's definitely the top waiver wire ad this week.
32:58Not to spoil that section a little bit later, Herman.
33:00Yeah. And the Jets, I mean, their offense has been competent.
33:03I know they just had a great shootout with the Detroit Lions in Detroit.
33:07Of course, that's going to happen. But they get the Bears in week four.
33:11Like this is no longer the OK. Braylon Allen is taking over a bad offense sort of situation here as the lead back.
33:17He's actually going to take over an offense that's moving pretty well.
33:21Geno Smith playing some good football. Garrett Wilson balled out as expected in week three.
33:25A.D. Mitchell's been good when he's been healthy. So there we go.
33:28All right. Let's go ahead and we have some more news to cover here.
33:32So that wasn't the only news of the day.
33:34But the other two news items we're going to cover relate very well to some of the submissions in the panic meter.
33:40So without further ado, let's get into the post week three people's panic meter.
33:44Would you say it's time for everyone to panic?
33:47Yes, I would get. Oh, my God. OK, it's happening.
33:49No, no, no, no, no. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
33:52Everybody sit calm. What's the procedure? What's the procedure?
33:55No. The panic meter is presented by Orgain Creatine.
33:57Whether you're training like it's game day or pushing through the pressure of fantasy season, Orgain Creatine helps give you the muscle
34:03strength to feel harder and push farther. Upgrade your performance today with Orgain.
34:07Reminder for the Boone Brigade who just tuned out the last two weeks because he wasn't on the show and you're back this week.
34:13There are four levels to the panic meter. We have no panic, some panic, total panic, and coping corner.
34:18And on that note, we should remind you guys because there's going to be some people put in the coping corner after today's episode.
34:25If we put someone in the coping corner, we're just no longer taking submissions on them.
34:29However, we are able to reevaluate their coping corner status if slash when they start to appear to trend upward.
34:35But for the most part, once you're in the coping corner, you're staying there and you're no longer allowed to like, Oh
34:41my God, what's going on with this situation? I'm in total panic because you're coping.
34:45It is what it is. I don't know that we're going to be doing any coping corner here with these next two
34:51guys that relate to some injury situations. But let's talk about those because we got a ton of submissions on Malik Neighbors here.
34:57And this relates to one of the news items because the New York Giants went out and traded for J.J.
35:03McCarthy, traded a 2027 fifth round pick, which actually kind of surprised me that the Vikings were able to get so much, a fifth round pick.
35:10We can kind of parse that compensation out here.
35:12But Vikings traded J.J. McCarthy, their former first round quarterback, to the New York Giants, who have lost their former first round
35:18quarterback, Jackson Dart, for the entire season and have gotten two not so ideal performances out of Jameis Winston.
35:24So before we address Malik Neighbors and the panic meter boon, thoughts on J.J.
35:27McCarthy out in Minnesota and in with the New York Giants.
35:30I mean, what a journey it's been since my bold prediction on him last year.
35:34Shocking to see him, you know, on another team within a little over a year after I said that.
35:40He does have some Jackson Dart like elements to his game, but this is not the same level of player.
35:45He hasn't shown us anything close. And the thing I'm worried about is if you're hopeful that like down the road, he
35:51could be like the next Baker Mayfield or Gino Smith, that guy who kind of gets a second chance at his career
35:57and then all of a sudden gets going and comes alive and shows something that he didn't show in his first stop.
36:03Those guys had spent a lot more time getting acclimated to the NFL, getting more experience.
36:08He's still like a rookie. He hasn't even had like a full year of games out there.
36:12He's had these injuries he's dealt with. He hasn't looked good.
36:15And he's going from that ecosystem in Minnesota, which I still think is pretty good.
36:19I think they have good coaching there and he wasn't able to develop under them.
36:23And now he's going to New York where it's a bit of a mess right now.
36:28So I don't think this is a great move for him.
36:31You know, I think, you know, moving down the road, staying in Minnesota, still learning and then eventually going somewhere else where
36:37he would get a legitimate shot to be the long term starter, where I don't think that's going to come in New York.
36:43He's sort of just a stopgap guy there if he gets a shot this year.
36:47So not excited about him for fantasy. And when you look at neighbors, like if we see McCarthy get under center this
36:53year, it's not great for him either. We saw Justin Jefferson struggle through those games and try to be nice in the media.
37:00Malik neighbors is not that guy. He is not going to be nice.
37:03He's not going to sugarcoat anything. So we might see some very interesting interviews of McCarthy's getting starts this year.
37:09Regardless, I think you're more worried about dynasty shares.
37:11You're more worried about later in the season. And it's not a great situation in New York right now.
37:16That's really what this all boils down to. When Jackson Dart got hurt, he's shown us that he's a player that was kind of elevating guys around him.
37:24They don't have that quarterback there anymore. They certainly don't.
37:27Don't feel great about where the Jameis Winston thing is at this point either.
37:30I liked it. Cam Scadaboo made the point that that was probably a game that they would have lost last year with
37:36just how the team, you know, was under Brian Dayball's leadership previously.
37:40Speaking of Brian Dayball, things are not going so well with the Tennessee Titans.
37:44I'm not going to give you a lot of credit for eking out a win against the Tennessee Titans at this point in the proceedings.
37:50So I will say the great point by you on.
37:53I wouldn't rule out that McCarthy at some point could become a Sam Darnold reclamation project, a Geno Smith reclamation project.
37:59But those guys got to like take a beat and learn the game.
38:02And just like I mean, Darnold talks about this all the time.
38:06His year that he spent with the San Francisco 49ers as a backup was really what reset his career.
38:11I think Geno Smith had a lot of those same situations before reemerging as well.
38:15It's not been perfect. Like some guys do move on and they they they reclimate just fine.
38:20But I think those are the two. I mean, especially Darnold is a huge success story in this.
38:25And, you know, at this point, I'm just not 100 percent sure that McCarthy is going to get that time.
38:30I mean, how many games of Jameis Winston playing as he has the last two weeks?
38:34But by the way, they gave James Winston a contract in the offseason.
38:38The whole thing just feels a little weird and mismanaged.
38:41How how many weeks is it going to take before they just trot McCarthy out there and see what happens?
38:46It's probably not going to be very many, especially because it's a fifth round pick investment, which, by the way, also feel
38:52like he's your long term backup to Jackson Dart.
38:55Just just a little bizarre. I don't know. Is Dart even the guy going forward?
38:59I'm at total panic, by the way, with neighbors, with how it's gone so far, with how he's looked, which is to be expected.
39:05You know, he was coming back from a serious injury.
39:08Nobody expected him to be 100 percent in Boone with the way the Giants season is trending.
39:13And the fact that he had this shoulder thing get aggravated in week two.
39:17And this is a long term shoulder situation been dealing with since LSU that he's never gotten surgically repaired.
39:22Doesn't it just feel like McCarthy is going to start a few games?
39:25They're going to have a losing record. And then by week 11, it's hey, neighbors is going to go ahead and shut
39:31it down for the season to get this shoulder finally fixed.
39:34And all the insiders are he's hoping to emerge as his best self in 2027, which I think could could be true.
39:40But I just don't know that this year is going to be the year for neighbors.
39:45Yeah, you have to hate everything about his situation right now.
39:48And if we're doing like fantasy stock on these guys, I'm with you.
39:51Total panic. I'm looking at neighbors down where I had him ranked this week, which was like low end wide receiver to
39:57range, which a player of his talent level you'd never put in that area.
40:01He certainly has the skill to be a wide receiver, one of fantasy.
40:05And yet with that environment in New York, there's just no way we can look at him that way.
40:10I think Scadaboo is like a fine low end RB, too.
40:13I don't think we're going to see high end outcomes for him because of the things that are going on in New
40:19York right now and dart not being there. Najee Harris, he looks like he's going to be the new backup there.
40:25And he's the kind of back that I think could take some more carries away from Scadaboo.
40:29That concerns me as well. Isaiah likely after that big week one, we were thinking he was going to be one of these breakout tight ends.
40:36Now I'm looking at him as more of like a tight end to streamer.
40:40So, yeah, we're bumping all these guys down and the minute that Jackson Dart got hurt, we knew that was going to happen.
40:47Right. There was no one else coming in to save the day here.
40:50And McCarthy is certainly not that guy either. Yeah, this is the kind of an overdue total panic on neighbors and McCarthy
40:56just allows us to really talk about that at this point.
40:59Yeah, I think I'm with you on on Scadaboo as well.
41:02OK, let's get to the next one here, because we did get news that Baker Mayfield is going to be out for
41:08about three weeks with a thumb injury. Probably could have been worse, but certainly could have been better.
41:13By the way, Baker Mayfield could be playing better to start this season as well.
41:17Again, the full report is he suffered a dislocated right thumb.
41:20MRI showed no fracture, ligament or tendon damage. He's expected to miss at least three weeks.
41:25So this relates to Emeka Ibuka, who we got plenty of panic submissions about.
41:28This one from Blues Clues says we, the people, are panicking about Ibuka.
41:32Bucks are looking like a dumpster fire and now Baker is cooked.
41:35Please spend some yard per route run, ADOT or route success rate to save me from converting to a fury?
41:41A furry? Is this a furry? They're going to convert to a furry?
41:44I don't know. That's your personal life. You do whatever you want in your personal life.
41:49I will just say from a panic standpoint, I'm at total panic on Ibuka and I probably would have been at the same level.
41:55Even if Mayfield was going to continue to play because I've watched the tape on Ibuka the first few weeks.
42:01The guy's getting open. He's playing well in the role that he is operating in in the Bucks offense, which is the role I hoped he played.
42:08But Baker has just played poorly to start the season.
42:11And maybe that would have corrected itself at some point.
42:14It's not going to correct itself while he's on the bench and probably not when he comes back after dealing with a thumb injury.
42:20So I'm definitely panicking about Ibuka, who I have in our analyst league, you know, who I drafted in other spots as well.
42:26So, yeah, total panic on Ibuka. Any any difference of opinion here?
42:30No, total panic. I was worried about him. We talked about it on one of the summer shows that once he suffered
42:36that toe injury, that as a receiver coming into the season with a toe injury, was that going to linger?
42:41Even if you are healthy enough to get on the field, is that going to be a problem?
42:46Is that going to take away something from you?
42:49And it kind of seems like it has. Like he doesn't really seem like the same guy, at least not the same
42:55guy that we saw early last season before he got hurt.
42:58Right. So definitely total panic on him. And this is another offense where just not excited about a lot of the guys on this offense.
43:04A lot of these receivers, you bump and God went down.
43:08I think he's basically droppable. Jalen McMillan's hurt again.
43:10Might be a lost year for him. Came into the season hurt.
43:13Now he's injured again here. Ted Hurst is like kind of an interesting stash.
43:17But without the quarterback situation solved there, you can't get too excited about him.
43:21Like I wanted to put him as one of the players in the waiver wire this week.
43:26And I mentioned him in one of the categories, but I wasn't going to write him up because we don't know what we're getting from the quarterback position.
43:33We don't know if this offense is going to at any point get on rhythm, get comfortable out there.
43:38I will say, though, Jalen Daniels is an interesting prospect.
43:41I do kind of like him, Harmon. I wrote about him in January when I did my prospect evaluations way before he got drafted by the Bucs here.
43:49And even when he went into camp there, he was just looking like he was going to be the number three.
43:55He won the number two job, can run a little bit, can scramble a little bit.
43:59He's just a guy that like carries himself with a lot of poise.
44:02I like how he carries himself off the field as well.
44:05I think he could be interesting. Doesn't seem to get rattled very often on the field.
44:10So I want to see him go out there and see what he could potentially do in this offense.
44:15Because the way Baker was playing, the bar is set pretty low right now.
44:19So don't be surprised if Daniels gets out there and actually looks kind of decent.
44:23We use that drafted by the Bucs. He's an undrafted player.
44:26I mean, it's crazy that he earned the backup job.
44:29Yeah, he ended up on the Bucs. But still, that just goes to the point that pretty crazy that he is the immediate backup quarterback.
44:36He's obviously earned that job. I'm open to it.
44:38It will be interesting to see what it looks like because it really has looked poor with Mayfield through three games.
44:44I know I seem harsh on the guy, but it's just been really, really bad.
44:48Especially considering that he really advocated for himself to get that contract prior to the season.
44:52They gave him the contract, and now it's been such a bad product.
44:56Look, I think this is going to be a lost year for this Bucs offense.
45:00Unless Daniels really just knocks our socks off here the next few weeks.
45:03I think it's over for Todd Bowles. I think it's probably over for just the whole coaching staff.
45:08I think it should be, honestly. They've got to be just so regretful that they didn't keep Liam Cohen in house and
45:14do whatever they did to make him the head coach.
45:17I think Abuka is a good player, and I actually think, like I said, I think he's played well on film so far.
45:23And he's in the role that we want, and Mayfield's just made it impossible to really have consistent success.
45:29What would you be doing with a guy like this in Dynasty where it's probably a lost season for him?
45:34Why what? I was just about to ask you the exact same question.
45:38I was curious because the way you're talking about him, I was going to tee you up for that one.
45:43And that isn't somebody that you'd be buying low in Dynasty because this seems like a lost year.
45:48Our heads are in the exact same. Even we missed all this time the last few weeks, Armin, and we're still in sync like that.
45:55Yeah, I think I would still be buying low on him.
45:58You might be able to wait even a little longer, though, and let that price drop a little bit more if Mayfield's going to be out.
46:05Because while I'm saying that I like Daniels, I don't know that he's coming in to be some magic fix for this offense.
46:11If he comes in and just does a competent job, that's actually pretty good for a guy of his stature, right?
46:17So I don't think he is going to be the complete answer that's going to save them.
46:22And because of that and because of how it looks so far, the value is probably going to drop.
46:27So he might be able to wait a little bit, buy low in a few weeks, and then you hold him and
46:33you don't even expect much the rest of the way until next year.
46:37Yeah, I just asked that because I updated my dynasty rankings for wide receivers while I was flying out to San Diego last week.
46:43And I have him at wide receiver 17. The market currently has him at wide receiver 15.
46:48If you look at the aggregate sources, I would expect my ranking to probably hold around there and the market to come
46:54down as we continue to get some maybe disappointing results.
46:56So I like your thought to maybe if you want to buy, wait a few weeks here and see kind of what
47:03happens because I just see like the Twitter sentiment on Ibuka.
47:06A lot of, you know, I like the player.
47:08So maybe this is my own bias is showing, but I feel like I see a lot of confirmation bias of like, yeah, see, he wasn't this guy.
47:16He's never been this guy in the first five weeks were a fluke.
47:19So maybe there's going to be more of that sentiment going forward.
47:22And yeah, again, I think he's played well, but unfortunately just in a tough spot with the way things have rolled out this year.
47:29Okay, let's get to some more panic meter submissions here.
47:32And we've got to talk about Justin Herbert and the Chargers.
47:35And I love the way that our guy Jeff B sets this email up.
47:39Guys, this is my third submission on Justin Herbert in three weeks.
47:42I was in coping corner mode last week, but had a ray of hope this week going up against the Bills with
47:48the coming gauntlet of defenses from here to week 12.
47:51Let's put Herbert and the entire Chargers offense in the coping corner.
47:54No complaints about Hampton. No complaints about Ladd. Was anybody ever complaining about QJ?
47:58Just deal with it. We were wrong. Thanks. Just to put some context before I respond to that, to the next 12
48:04weeks, the defenses that our guy Jeff is outlining here.
48:07They just played the Bills. They get the Seahawks in Seattle this week.
48:10Woof. The Broncos, the Chiefs, bye week. Rams, Texans, Ravens, Jets, Patriots, Bucks, Raiders.
48:14It does lighten up at some point. Not these next few weeks here.
48:17So where are we at with the Chargers offense, Boone?
48:20Because I'll tell you, I am 100% in agreement with Jeff here.
48:23We need to stuff the entire offense in the coping corner because we were indeed wrong about how this is going to
48:30play out with Mike McDaniel and the entire fireworks show we're getting.
48:33Maybe it stabilizes at some point, but we were definitely wrong about the entire offense and what it's going to be this year.
48:39Yeah. Normally, I want to give new coaches or new coordinators a little bit of time, right?
48:44Where you can be like, okay, it's just the first couple weeks.
48:47They're eventually going to figure it out. But it's exactly the problem is exactly what we're bringing up there.
48:52Look at that schedule, right? Where are they figuring it out?
48:55Like if they weren't getting anything going against the Bills, who frankly are not a great defense.
49:00I can say that about my Bills. Yeah. They are not good.
49:03Maybe as the year goes along, they're a team that with the new coordinator are eventually going to figure it out.
49:09But right now, most people are going to be able to move the ball on them.
49:13The Chargers just look awful. And now you're going Seahawks, Broncos, Chiefs, then the bye Rams, Texans, Ravens.
49:18Those are the ones that I'm looking at. After that, like you said, it gets a little bit better.
49:23There's a few weeks in there that you'll be able to maybe play some matchups.
49:28But those six surrounding a bye is absolutely awful.
49:30And I don't feel good about having any investments in this offense.
49:33Lad McConkie is the only one that you're probably putting in your lineup and you're like, all right, he'll be OK.
49:39Hopefully, a Marin Hampton not really feeling great about where we expected his career to go this year.
49:44We thought there was a chance for a breakout.
49:46Doesn't look like that's going to happen for him.
49:49It's just awful all around here, Harmon. And I don't see a lot of pads out of this for at least the next couple months.
49:56Nope, I don't either. And look, football is a weird game, right?
49:59Football is so weird that there is totally a universe where I could look back in a month from now and be
50:05like, I can't believe that the Chargers struggled against the Cardinals, Raiders, and the Bills.
50:09And then Justin Herbert had these great games against the Seahawks and the Broncos.
50:13I totally can see that happening just because that's how weird football is.
50:16But there's nothing right now that would give me any indication of that, especially because what is going right for this offense right now?
50:23I think Lad McConkie is playing well. He is actually – and I was kind of surprised to see this when I
50:29looked this up to try to find a Drake London stat.
50:32And then it turned into like, oh my gosh, Lad McConkie is 10th in the NFL in yards per route run among wide receivers right now.
50:39He just hasn't been able to have a lot of fantasy success because of the injuries and just the fact that this offense stinks.
50:46So I would say I'm kind of at no panic on McConkie as a starting fantasy receiver.
50:50But him being the next Jackson Smith and Jigber or whatever, that's not going to happen in this offense.
50:56The rest of these players, QB 32 in points per game, Justin Herbert, coping corner.
51:00Amarian Hampton, I'm going to say total panic on him.
51:02QJ, if you want to throw him in there, he's coping corner for me too.
51:07So, yeah, we're just not going to take submissions on the Chargers offense going forward because everything is going wrong for this team, including Herbert.
51:13Like that interception he threw to Chauncey Carter-Johnson is just so inexcusable.
51:17Like there's nothing on the coverage it would tell you to throw that.
51:20You're also, I think, throwing it to MVS on that play.
51:23What is – it's just – everything is wrong right now with this Chargers team.
51:27And it's just – it is really unfortunate. We always want to talk about guys ending last season hot and then coming into this year.
51:34And like picking up where they left off. It's like Herbert's picking up where he left off and it was bad down the stretch last year.
51:41And we blamed it on the offensive line and all these different things.
51:45And yet, man, it doesn't look much different right now.
51:48Just totally unusable. And I think the other thing to mention with him is there's so many good quarterbacks that you can
51:54play that you just don't even have to get into the conversation with Herbert.
51:57If you have him right now, I would actually just drop him.
52:01We'll talk about some of the players that we're dropping later.
52:04And he's one of them for me. I don't want to deal with it.
52:08I'm going to go out, find a quarterback, or I'm going to stream off the waiver wire.
52:12I am not going to put him with the way that he's looked up against these defenses that we've rattled off over the next few weeks.
52:19That is a scenario that you were just asking for your fantasy season to be ended.
52:24Yeah, the places where I had Herbert, I did not play him this week if I could avoid it, including our analyst
52:30league where I played Kyler Murray instead of Justin Herbert.
52:32Which, you know, shoot, that didn't go all that well.
52:35But at least I was not going to play Herbert this week.
52:38That is for sure. I'm actually going to go out of order of the outline here, so I apologize to the producers.
52:44But you gave me a clean transition to go to the next quarterback we're going to talk about.
52:49Because talk about a guy who ended last season very poorly and is picking up right where he left off.
52:55That would be quarterback Drake May of the New England Patriots.
52:58We got a ton of Drake May submissions here.
53:00This just Drake Icepick says, Drake May has cost me a few games.
53:04Cousins and Mariota would have gotten me a W this week.
53:07Rob said, we need AJ Brown back to make Drake May great again.
53:10Let me tell you what, buddy. That's not going to be enough.
53:14And then CC Baseball said, Drake May, he's absolutely killing me.
53:17He was thinking about starting Drew Locke over him if he was playing this week.
53:21Wondering if I need to make a trade. Yeah, here's the deal, Boone.
53:24Drake May, definitely coping corner to me. I can't see another way around this one.
53:29Yeah, I totally agree. He's absolutely coping corner. And I said this on Thursday, Shoharman, when you were gone, that in his
53:35rookie season, he had nine outings where he played at least 85% of the snaps.
53:39Never finished lower than QB 17. So like never gave you that like weak losing performance.
53:43It was always like average quarterback play or better.
53:45Then last year, he only scored less than 14 fantasy points once all season long.
53:50And we know how it finished for him, right?
53:52He showed us that he had that big ceiling finishes as the QB three overall and fantasy points per game.
53:58This year, he has been under 13 fantasy points in all three games.
54:01Only did it once last year. He's done it three times this year.
54:05So strange. I know we can blame the offensive line injuries.
54:08We can blame AJ Brown not being out there.
54:10And they kind of gambled big on that. But still, he should be playing better than this.
54:15What happened to that guy that showed us that floor in fantasy that was running to boost his fantasy value?
54:20He just looks totally discombobulated at the moment. And he's somebody that I also I don't want to drop him.
54:26But I did consider putting him on the drop list again because there's so many good quarterbacks out there that you could look to.
54:32But after what he showed us last year, it would be hard to drop him.
54:36And you have to put him on your bench for the moment.
54:40Play somebody else. Oh, I mean, look, this could come back and bite me.
54:43I would totally I would drop him. If we're dropping Herbert, I'm dropping May.
54:47I only and I've said this before on the show.
54:50I only ended up with with Drake May in one league because I timed out on the pick and it was a slow draft.
54:57And, you know, happens. I've been playing Jordan Love over him the last two weeks.
55:01And I'm just going to go ahead and just get I don't know.
55:04Maybe I don't have somebody to pick up this week.
55:07I'll keep him on the bench. I don't know.
55:09But I don't really know. There's a huge reason to hold him.
55:13There are 37 quarterbacks that qualify this year. He is 34 in quarterback points per game.
55:17The only three that are lower than him. Drake May Kyler Murray, who obviously kind of tough because he got knocked out the first week of the season.
55:25James Winston Cooper Rush. I mean, that's where Drake May is at this point.
55:29It's it's not been good for for Drake May.
55:31We will talk more about like the exact reasons why with Nate on a show later this week.
55:36So won't go into too much detail about what exactly what's happening with Drake May.
55:40I have a lot of thoughts on that and why, again, A.J.
55:43Brown coming back is probably not enough to fix everything here because Drake May is playing poorly, just like Justin Herbert is
55:49also making the problems for himself here. This is all part of the equation.
55:53But let's real quick. I want to I just want to touch on this quickly.
55:57What do you think about the backfield right now?
56:00To me, this is also just reminder Stevenson, Travion Henderson.
56:03I don't know if I want to say coping corner for these guys, but I'm definitely a total panic on this group,
56:09too, because it's a split backfield for what's a bad offense right now.
56:12I mean, I don't really feel good about starting either of these backs.
56:16I think I might be a little more optimistic on this one.
56:19I think I would only look at Stevenson as some panic.
56:22For me, you had the fumbles last week, right?
56:24In week two. And we saw Henderson get more work in that game.
56:28We saw Henderson break the big run. And I think a lot of people were talking like, OK, in a normal scenario,
56:34on a normal team, this might be the thing that would vault that young player into the starting role.
56:39And yet last week I kept saying, I don't think that's what's going to happen in New England.
56:44I think they're going to go back to being a committee.
56:47I think we're going to see Stevenson potentially get back out there and be the lead back.
56:52That's exactly what happened in this game. He was up over 50 percent of the snaps.
56:56I think we're going to continue to see that.
56:59I don't think that this is Henderson going to take over.
57:02I think we're going to continue to see Stevenson as the lead guy here.
57:05And you have to remember here, Harmon, the matchups have been very tough, right?
57:09The Seahawks in week one, very tough run defense.
57:12The Steelers and then the Jags, who are also just monsters against the run this week.
57:16So I had both these guys way down in the RB3 range.
57:19There's going to be some better matchups coming up, though.
57:22The Bills, the Raiders, the Jets, the Bears, the Dolphins, the Packers.
57:25Not nearly as tough. So I think we could see a little bit better from this rushing attack.
57:30There will be weeks that we see Stevenson find the end zone, maybe get his way up into the RB2 range.
57:36But really, you're looking at both these backs right now as sort of high end RB3s.
57:40We're going to need Henderson to hit a big play and he can do that in the run game or in the pass game.
57:47Or we're going to need Stevenson to fall into the end zone.
57:50So it depends on what your expectation level was before the season.
57:54But he was drafted as RB25. And I think he still belongs in that range.
57:58Yeah, that's a really good point about the schedule.
58:00Maybe that's some reason to be optimistic about any of these guys potentially turning it around here.
58:05So I like that a little bit of optimism there on Ramondre Stevenson.
58:08OK, last one we're going to get to before we take a break and go to the running backs.
58:14We'll go tight end on this one. Tucker Craft sends we got an email from Dominic V on Tucker Craft.
58:19Listen, guys, this is going to be just a weird one to read, but whatever.
58:23Listen, guys, I know Tuck Tuck is Yahoo Fantasy Starling Baby Boo Boo Bear.
58:27Oh, boy. But even in a game where they were down humongous and only ran the ball nine times, he couldn't get 30 yards.
58:34Is this a long term hold drop candidate or someone I shouldn't be panicked about?
58:38I think Tucker Craft, unfortunately, Boone belongs in the coping corner.
58:41I will say for now because he could get healthier.
58:43You know, he's coming back from a serious injury.
58:46He talked about snap count, pitch count. Maybe that just meant he wasn't expected to be himself for a while.
58:51But it's just like my stance on craft. And I did get to catch a little bit of you and Hayden talking
58:57about this on the Thursday night night cap because I was in the back of the Uber to the hotel from the San Diego airport.
59:04I was like, let me check in on my guys.
59:07You know, I was in the chat. I was supporting you guys.
59:10So I've heard a little bit of what you had to say about this.
59:14But my stance is there's a person wearing number 85 out there for the Green Bay Packers.
59:19That person is not Tucker Craft right now. So I think whoever that is belongs in the coping corner.
59:24Yeah, I mean, 84 percent roadshare in week two.
59:26That was up from 47 percent week one, 72 percent last week.
59:30I mean, eight targets in week three is 12th and targets among tight ends through three weeks here.
59:35I think he's lower than where he was. We drafted him as that mid range tight end one who maybe if he
59:41got healthy, had the ability to get up there into the elite guys like he was the year before, before he got
59:47hurt in the first half of the season. Right now, I think we're looking at him more as like a low end tight end one.
59:53Is that enough to put him in the coping corner?
59:56Like, I still think he's somebody that you can start at the moment.
60:00I think there will be better days. He gets the Buccaneers right.
60:03And this is the Bucs five for 78 one in week one to Mike Gusecki, Harold Fannin and Blake Whitehart combined for
60:09six for 71 and a touchdown in week two.
60:12I think the matchup's pretty good. We also need to watch here.
60:15A few of the injury analysts on social media have pointed out that Christian Watson at the very end of last week's
60:21game, and I didn't catch this at the time, but that he grabbed at his hamstring.
60:25It was like the final minutes of the game.
60:28He was running, kind of grabbed at his hamstring.
60:30Hopefully that's nothing because we know he had a bunch of issues with hamstring soft tissue stuff before.
60:35We want him to be right. He is on his way to being a potential league winner this year.
60:40But that's something to monitor because if Watson or if Matthew Golden ever missed time, we already know Jaden Reed's out.
60:46Then Kraft would have to take on a bigger role in this passing game.
60:50So I'm not ready to put him in coping corner yet.
60:53If you really want to push for it, fine.
60:55I think it's more just total panic. And I think we'll see him the further he gets removed from this injury.
61:01I think the better he's going to get for fantasy.
61:04I think that's totally fair. I'm willing to settle at total panic as well.
61:08Listen, I love Tucker Kraft. I think right now he's definitely he's not someone I would drop.
61:12And I have at least a couple Tucker Kraft teams.
61:15I'm not going to drop him, but I'm going to at least like take a peek at the waiver wire and see
61:21if I can maybe until he gets fully operational and is a set it and forget it starter.
61:26You know, then maybe I'll consider streaming other players ahead of him.
61:29Just a note on the schedule. You mentioned the Bucks matchup this week in week four bears, Cowboys, Lions, Panthers.
61:35Like that's a pretty good upcoming slate for this entire Packers offense.
61:38And without Jane Reed, it should be pretty concentrated.
61:40So while I don't think he is a set it and forget it must start player anymore right now.
61:46Again, this is all for now. My couching this with Tucker Kraft.
61:49He's at least someone I would not drop back to the point of the question here.
61:53Yeah, and we'll get to the waiver wire section later and we'll talk about some of the tight end options.
61:59It all comes down to who you have. And there are a couple guys you could pick up on the waiver wire
62:05who I would consider over him this week. But you got to get one of those guys.
62:09You can't just be playing any tight end to streamer over Tucker Kraft.
62:13All right, we're going to take our first quick break.
62:16We come back. We're talking about running back submissions to the panic meter.
62:19We'll get into that right after this. All right, we're continuing to take your submissions to the people's panic meter.
62:25Let's get into the running back section here. Boone first one up David Montgomery.
62:29Jack B P sends in what's going on with David Montgomery.
62:32Are the Texans truly that bad? Will the triumphant return of Nico Collins fix the offense enough for the run game to work again?
62:38A little bit of a mixed answer here because the return of Nico Collins will absolutely help this team.
62:43And I said this to one of my subscribers in Discord asked me like, which receiver benefits with Nico Collins?
62:49I'm like, nobody. They are they are effed without Nico Collins on offense.
62:52And so far, so good on that prediction. Although the Dalton Schultz obviously scammed his way to a nice week, too.
62:58But yeah, Nico is one of those guys that you remove him.
63:01He his absence impacts the entire offense. But it has been really bad for Montgomery ever since what was kind of a
63:07touchdown deodorant to shout out Scott there. A touchdown deodorant week number one for him.
63:12What's your level of panic on Dave Montgomery? Because I will say it's a total panic for me if I had Dave
63:18Montgomery, which I don't have any Dave Montgomery fantasy teams.
63:20But if I did, I'd be totally panicking right now.
63:23So I view him kind of similarly now to Ramondre Stevenson.
63:26I think he's in the same range fantasy wise.
63:28I think the difference here is just in preseason expectations, right?
63:31Because David Montgomery, we were looking at him like maybe he could be a fantasy RB, too.
63:36If everything went perfectly and he had the massive amount of volume, maybe this could be like a Joe Mixon style situation
63:42from a couple of years ago in this Texans offense.
63:45This is not the same Texans offense, and they are not approaching this the same.
63:49Woody Marks is heavily involved out there. They're sharing the workload.
63:52The rushing attack also just like it doesn't have the juice like we're just not seeing it from them.
63:57So Montgomery is now in that same kind of Ramondre Stevenson, like touchdown or bust RB three kind of range.
64:03That's startable like you can use him in fantasy, but I don't think you can expect much more than that.
64:08So, yeah, not very excited about him. I'll go with total panic for now.
64:12I would not be shocked at all if he ends up in the coping corner in the weeks to come, though.
64:18Yeah, the silver lining here is in the next four weeks before their week eight by.
64:22They have the Cowboys, the Titans, the Jags and the Giants.
64:25So there are some matchups there where you might start Dave Montgomery, and it will definitely be better with Nico.
64:31Like the offense is just it's not functional without Nico Collins because they're they're outside.
64:35I don't know why they don't play Jalen. No, there maybe is there something I don't maybe there's something I don't know about.
64:41But I think he's a talented player that would help them.
64:44They just don't play him enough. And their outside receivers are just it's like the worst outside receiver group in the league
64:50without Nico Collins and Jaden and Jaden Higgins. Like that is what it is.
64:54You're not going to score a lot of points, especially when you're offensive line.
64:58It's different players, but it's not better than it has been in previous seasons.
65:01And the other thing about this that I think is actually bad for Montgomery, even when Collins gets back and even when
65:08the matchups get better, this defense is very good.
65:10But it's probably not like best in the league so far.
65:13Like you can pick on the linebackers. Read Blankenship has not been that great for them so far.
65:18So I think that's a problem for Montgomery being, you know, one of the bull cases for him is, oh, he'd be
65:24this lead back for a team that's always going to have a have a have a lead.
65:29Like they're going to be ahead in these scripts and have a positive game scripts that might not happen consistently.
65:34If the defense isn't one of the two or three best in the NFL and is rather like five to seven in the defensive rankings.
65:41No, it's a really good point. Yeah, that this is not kind of the script that we signed up for going from losing both of those receivers.
65:48I'm glad you brought up Jaden Higgins because I think that's a huge part of this.
65:53He was like a potential breakout candidate this year.
65:55So you put him across from Nico Collins. All of a sudden, you have a ton of firepower in this passing attack.
66:01And now they're operating with neither of those guys.
66:04And yeah, the defense is just it's not the same shutdown unit that it was a year ago.
66:09So I think I agree on all those accounts.
66:11Total panic for now. Hope it doesn't get worse.
66:13All right. Next one up here is Jadarian Price.
66:16John sends in Jadarian Price and said, what in the timeshare hell is this?
66:20I fear that we should start calling him Cancun because he's stuck in a timeshare that we can't get out of.
66:25Nice work on that one, John. My panic level on Jadarian Price is only at some panic here, Boone.
66:31And you tell me if you feel differently on this one.
66:34But the way I looked at it was I wasn't expecting Jadarian Price to be great to start off because he's a rookie running back.
66:41And usually, you know, second half of the season, that's when you see the rookies take off.
66:45But that was probably the only reason I said some panic on Price.
66:49You certainly have to be worried that he is in a timeshare and hasn't just like fully earned this job.
66:54He had the fumble. Fun fact here from Stat Muse.
66:57Jadarian Price has more fumbles lost in three games than Kenneth Walker has in his entire career.
67:02By the way, I don't know if we've said this on the show, but this is one of those.
67:07And I'm saying this is the lead advocate for big receiver.
67:10But when you're a team that signs Rashid Shaheed for the same contract that Kenneth Walker got elsewhere, I think we might
67:16have jumped the shark on the running back versus receiver value in certain spots.
67:20That's just like a side note on this one.
67:22But yeah, certainly not feeling great about where Jadarian Price is right now.
67:26Where are you at with him? I'm willing to go total panic on this one because I had a different view of
67:32how this was potentially going to play out. I thought this early season stretch was his chance to really take over this
67:38backfield, show that he deserved to be that first round pick, that they're going to build this rushing attack around him.
67:43The competition wasn't going to be as tough as it might be later in the season when Zach Charbonnet comes back.
67:49And we don't know when that's going to be probably around midseason.
67:52We know this coaching staff love Zach Charbonnet. And yet, and perhaps this was foolish on my part, they've come out, really run this as a committee.
68:00Now, there was an injury there in week two that obviously factored in.
68:03There was the fumbles, of course. And we saw this week he kind of got sat down because of it.
68:09But they've used Emmanuel Wilson. They've used George Lonnie, a whole bunch here.
68:12And that's a problem because, again, Charbonnet is coming back as well.
68:16It's not like I don't see the runway for him to all of a sudden take on this big workload.
68:21I think it's going to continue like this. I feel like I should take the L because in the summer, Josh and
68:27I, we did that live show on Buffalo. We were talking up Janarian Price as somebody that was kind of getting overlooked, getting slept on a little bit.
68:35He was falling to like the sixth round. And the premise was simple, that he was going to be the back on
68:41the Super Bowl champion offense that wants to build around the run.
68:44And they do, but they want to use a whole bunch of backs.
68:48And also this rushing attack just hasn't really got going like they don't look that great.
68:52Part of that probably is not having a guy like Kenneth Walker or not having a healthy Zach Charbonnet out there.
68:58But still, this team has had to pass more.
69:00We saw it this week. Sam Darnold threw the ball a whole bunch.
69:04They end up losing that game. I don't love this, Harmon.
69:07I don't love this at all. I'm worried about the direction this is going in for Price.
69:12I don't really see that path to him becoming a really meaningful fantasy asset because I think he's going to have to
69:18share the workload all year long, just like they did with Kenneth Walker last year until the final stretch.
69:23Yeah, totally fair. If he has a poor man's Kenneth Walker season, I think that wouldn't be shocking at all at this point.
69:29And he's on track to have something worse than that.
69:32So I would just, again, I don't want to totally panic on a rookie this early into his career, but he's not established.
69:38He's not establishing that momentum, as you mentioned here.
69:41There's no question about that. So certainly some level of panic.
69:44Not a guy you can start at all right now.
69:46I would try to not drop him just because I've seen this story before.
69:50Rookie running back gets off to a slow start.
69:53You drop him, and then he ends up on your league mate's team as they win the championship, which I don't know
69:59if that's going to happen for Price. But for that reason, Boone, I would at least, and I'm sure you agree, I'd
70:05try not to drop Price at this point. Yeah, I think he's still in that RB3 flex type mix right now, and
70:11there's always a chance that he could get going here.
70:13But I'm just not that hopeful at the moment.
70:16Okay, next one comes from Trey Scouts NFL. Does not feel like Chase Brown is seeing many high value touches.
70:21I think I'm at no panic on Chase Brown, who is the running back 13 on the season, but he's only averaging 8.57 points per game.
70:28So, you know, it's certainly not been what you wanted if you took him very early.
70:33But I think it will probably come for Chase Brown, I guess.
70:36I don't know. I was at no panic, but do you think I should be a little bit higher on this?
70:42No, I agree. No panic. However, I think there's a very specific way to approach this.
70:46They play the Jags defense this week, and we've already mentioned on the show, the Jags defense just absolutely shuts down the run.
70:52It is very difficult to run against them. So I'm not expecting him to have a good week this week.
70:58I think that's when you go buy low. I think that is the smart move.
71:02If you want to do it this week, knowing that he's probably not going to have a great game and the other
71:08manager is going to see that the Jags are the matchup.
71:11And if they're smart, they're going to go, oh, man, he's going to have another bad game.
71:16Maybe that might make them a little more willing to sell him.
71:19But regardless, he's somebody that you want to buy low on.
71:22He's playing over 70% of the snaps. He's getting all kinds of volume.
71:26He's getting used in the passing game. Samajin Pirine's taking like three, four touches a week.
71:30That's nothing to be that concerned about. Brown has 21, 23, and 15 touches so far.
71:34You have a guy that is involved in the passing game, a guy that's in a pretty good offense.
71:40I think he's obviously just a buy low. And if it's not this week, it's definitely going to be next week.
71:45So expect to see me writing about him as a buy low and expect to probably see everybody in the industry talking
71:51about him as a buy low next week. Love the way you laid that out.
71:55That's a good approach there. Okay, let's get to the last one here.
71:59And I just wanted to note this one because we talked about Travis H.N.
72:03earlier. But I do think I talked about it with Scott last week.
72:06And I think we've got to put Travis H.N.
72:09in the coping corner. Now, obviously, it's easy to say that now he's going to miss time with injuries.
72:14But this one from C. Miles, Jadarian Price and Travis H.N.
72:17As a Jamar Chase manager in 12 team leagues, I never got a chance to draft any of the good running backs
72:23and ended up with a team where these two were these two.
72:26Price and H.N. are my running backs, along with Remondra Stevenson.
72:29Pretty sure my season is already over. Yeah, not great.
72:32It's certainly not great. It's not over. I want you to keep fighting and competing.
72:36But this is part of the reason, Boone, you and I said consistently all through the summer, we did not want you
72:42to come away from the first four rounds with.
72:45I mean, I said, like, you need to come away with two running backs.
72:48Okay. So and by the way, this is a good stat here from our colleague, Josh.
72:53He noted that right now through the first and this is early and I think this might change.
72:58But he said tight end 17 is averaging more points per game.
73:019.1 than the wide receiver 33 8.8 and running back 25 8.5 this season.
73:05And he said they say it every week or they say it every show, but there's never been a better time to
73:11consider tight ends in your flex spots. I think it'll probably kick up for the wide receivers and maybe the running backs.
73:17But this is why I did not want to be going.
73:20And I love wide receivers, but zero RB or any of that stuff this year, because the run game has never been
73:26more important in the modern NFL than it is right now.
73:29And these high I mean, I talk like talking about my analyst league.
73:33I've made some like, oh, I have a Buka.
73:35I have Justin Herbert. The reason I'm shout out to me three and oh in that league is I have Derek Henry and James Cook.
73:42Okay, like these foundational running backs right now are saving butts, including mine in fantasy.
73:46So, you know, it's again easy to say this now.
73:49The season's already started, but I think zero RB like it can work in certain ways if you hit all the right buttons.
73:55But it's just tough when these are your running back.
73:58So again, long story short here. I do think Travis A.
74:01Chan should be a coping corner candidate because I do think he's unfortunately going to go down as a pretty rough pick
74:07this year based on how things have gone. You know, it's wild about Josh's stat there.
74:11I did a video before the season for tight end premium leagues and it was like three tips.
74:16And one of the tips was basically exactly this.
74:19But that was the scoring last year in tight end premium.
74:22I was talking about on tight end premium. The tip was like, don't be scared to use your tight end in the flex.
74:28And the stat was almost similar to that. It was like the same ranges.
74:32So it's wild that we're getting that kind of production this year and not even in tight end premium.
74:37I haven't looked at the tight end premium numbers, but man, it probably goes even deeper this year.
74:42You're probably looking at tight end 25, tight end 30 that you could use as a flex and tight end premium.
74:48But yeah, there are a ton of tight ends this year that you can use.
74:52That's a very smart call there by Josh. And sadly, yes, A.
74:55Chan not coming through for the Saints this year.
74:57And I don't know who's coming through for them.
75:00We'll talk about it in the waiver wire section, but they seem just totally committed to running a three man backfield.
75:06It's been a different three man backfield here for a couple different weeks.
75:09And it hasn't been that productive overall, unfortunately. Yeah, they're going to be one of these, I don't know, weird collegiate teams where it's a total mix.
75:16Like of backfield. And then they're just throwing the football like crazy.
75:20That's how the Saints offense is going to be this year.
75:23So who's coming through for them is Chris Olave.
75:25It's Devon Bailey. It's Juwan Johnson. It's Tyler Shuck.
75:28Like that's who's coming through for the New Orleans Saints and maybe eventually Jordan Tyson.
75:32Yeah, just to put a finer point on this guys like Noah Fant, 9.5 points.
75:36Darren Waller, 9.4 points. Jake Ferguson, 9.2. Mike Gusecki, 9.17.
75:39Sam Laporta, 9 points. Guys that we were drafting very early, you know, Emeka Ibuka, Terry McLaurin.
75:43Some guys we're about to talk about here in just a second are under 10 fantasy points per game.
75:49Again, I think that's going to change over the course of the season, but it's just where we are right now with
75:55the wide receiver position where things can be very up and down.
75:58So let's get into that. Let's get talking about the wide receiver panic submissions here, starting with one of those players who
76:04is below all those tight ends I just laid out in points per game, which is Jalen Waddell.
76:09Kelly Trainer 7 says, the targets are fine, but it's feast or famine, mostly famine.
76:13Neighbors also, they submitted them because QB change injuries.
76:15He's been pretty useless so far. So Boone, I'm going to say I'm at some panic, but very little.
76:21Some panic, though, on Jalen Waddell based on how things have gone because he had a great week to not ideal in
76:27the first two weeks of the season, which, of course, were island games.
76:30Everybody overreacts to island games, but I definitely think his role is going to be more volatile than it was what I
76:36was expecting this season, but still think he's capable of having massive weeks and think he'll be a fine receiver, too.
76:42Yeah, I don't know. I think two to two bad weeks, one good week.
76:46That's pretty standard at the receiver position. Do you think I am not panicking enough?
76:50No, I'm with you. I think you laid that out pretty well there for him.
76:54It's some panic for me. And I feel bad, Harmon, because I remember in the summer I pointed out that back in
77:00like late May or early June, we had done a show and Waddell came up.
77:04We talked about him. And at the time, I wasn't that high on him.
77:08I didn't see a lot of people in the industry talking about him.
77:11And you highlighted that you were pretty high on him.
77:14You had a really aggressive ranking. It forced me to go back and look at him more.
77:19I'm not blaming you for this. It just gave me that spark to go check it out more.
77:24And when I checked it out, I also kind of fell a little more in love with him.
77:29And then I started pumping him and writing about him more, and I moved him up in my rankings.
77:34And right now it's not looking great. I think that initial take I had where he's more of that like low end wide receiver, too, is probably accurate.
77:41I don't see the high end outcome for him.
77:44It also seems a little matchup based, right? Like you went against the Chiefs and the Rams.
77:49Those are tougher matchups. Didn't come through in those games.
77:51So maybe we have to take that into consideration with him a little more that when he is in some of these
77:57tougher matchups and with the Broncos offense, just kind of as a whole struggling right now.
78:02They don't really look that great. I think maybe we have to look at him as more matchup based if we're going
78:08to move him up the rankings ever. But yeah, still like a low end wide receiver, too.
78:12That's fine. And yeah, just some panic on him.
78:15Yeah, some panic matchups coming ahead. Niners, Chargers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Chiefs again, Panthers before a week 10 by there's going to be
78:21spots there where he really goes crazy. Unfortunately, we've just seen that like Bonix hasn't taken a step forward this year.
78:27The offense has definitely struggled turning over to Davis Webb.
78:29So I probably should have considered those variables maybe a little bit stronger because you mentioned I had probably just too aggressive
78:35of a ranking on Jalen Waddle where I think where he ended up in ADP, which is like a fourth round pick.
78:41I think he returns that value for you, but probably doesn't way out kick that.
78:46I hope I'm wrong because I was I still like the way Waddle's playing.
78:49And I think, you know, again, if he comes down with a couple of these catches that he's dropped over the first
78:55three weeks, then we're probably talking about a different story.
78:58And he did have one of the most impressive plays I saw all of week three.
79:02It just unfortunately wasn't a touchdown. It was a two point conversion.
79:06We'd be having a different conversation if it was a touchdown.
79:09But still. So, well, yeah, I'm just at some panic.
79:12Mr. Waddle has put me in a tough spot, not in the expert league, but in our other staff league that we have.
79:18I'm going against our boy Hayden and I thought I was about to cruise to the victory.
79:22I had Waddle left and I had Saquon Barkley left and he only had Devonta Smith.
79:27And now we're essentially tied going into tonight and it's Barkley versus Devonta Smith.
79:31So hopefully Barkley pulls that one out for me.
79:33That's interesting. Do you do you know who has Jalen Waddle in the expert league?
79:37I'm guessing it's you probably. Yeah, it's me. And do you remember what I said my record was earlier?
79:42We're coming for you. Don't worry. You are not going to be atop the mountain much longer.
79:47Okay, sure. Well, I guess I'm going to say that a slow start.
79:51Don't worry. I'm coming. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay.
79:53We'll see. I'm only saying that for the YouTube comments that are going to light me up about Jalen Waddle.
79:59They're like, well, I drafted Jalen Waddle because you and it ruined my season.
80:02Well, I drafted Jalen Waddle because of me and I'm three and oh.
80:06So I don't know. You know, figure it out.
80:08All right. This whole lineup here. That's the deal.
80:11But yeah, definitely a little worried about how Waddle started, but not total panic.
80:15Just some panic. I actually think if you can, if your lineup is built for it, you could probably make a trade for him.
80:21And because people are so freaked out because of the two Island games and they're not counting the week two game where he was awesome.
80:28Maybe a decent trade target there right now. Okay.
80:31Next one up. Teddero McMillan. This one I think is a little bit more complicated.
80:35The Panthers offensive line doesn't hold up to pressure.
80:37I don't see him getting a lot of looks in the short to intermediate range.
80:41Tet. Remember, he doesn't want to be called Tet.
80:44Also looks slow. I know he added weight this offseason, but the weight does not look great.
80:48In my opinion. Would love to hear your thoughts.
80:51I'm, I'm at some panic on McMillan and maybe I should be a little bit higher than that Boone because there's some
80:57really good observations here from Mikey who sent this tweet in about the, the, the Panthers offensive line allowed a ton of
81:03pressure on Bryce young, which then for McMillan with these long unfurling routes.
81:06I just charted this game here right before we hopped on the show.
81:10So can speak to this a little bit. He's like long unfurling routes where I agree.
81:14McMillan maybe doesn't look quite as explosive as he did, which could just be one game totally random, but it doesn't look quite as explosive.
81:21He did as a rookie. There's, you know, Bryce doesn't have the time to get to those routes.
81:26I also think, and this will inform our next player that we talk about to Boone.
81:30It's like more of a bigger picture thought. Well, I think sacrificial X, my term got a little overused this off season.
81:36There's definitely something to when you are, and this goes to the staff that we're about to highlight here from Joel, when
81:43you're the X receiver on your team and you are not clearly, clearly the best receiver on your team, you are definitely
81:49subject to losing targets and a lot more volatility.
81:51And unfortunately, Ted McMillan is a really good player, but he's not clearly, clearly better than Jalen Coker.
81:56You know, same again with the next player we'll talk about and a few others out there.
82:01It can just be a little bit more of a rocky ride than you want.
82:05So where are you at with McMillan? I ultimately ended up at some panic, but I could hear an argument for more panic than that.
82:12I'm only some panic. And I was surprised at this question.
82:15I mean, some really valid points there. I'm just surprised at it because it's like one bad fantasy outing so far.
82:2075 yards in the opener, 101 yards in the second game.
82:23You had to feel pretty good about the stats through those two games.
82:27Eight targets, 10 targets in those ones. I know this weekend they kind of got, you know, slowed down by the Browns
82:33a little bit there and Coker got banged up.
82:35Seems like he's going to be okay. But yeah, I don't think I can go more than some panic about a guy
82:41that topped 75 yards in two of his three outings so far.
82:45Yeah, eight points. If we're just looking at raw fantasy points, eight points and then 12.6.
82:49Like he certainly was not killing you the first two weeks, but he probably wasn't winning your week or whatever.
82:54And then such a down game in this last one.
82:57I think the argument there would be that, and I don't agree with this necessarily, but that Bryce Young, the first two
83:03weeks were a fluke and, you know, it's the defenses that they were playing.
83:07And now he's going to revert back to old Bryce Young.
83:10And I do think also because it's one of those things, Boone, where yeah, Teddero was totally fine and even good the
83:16first two weeks from a fantasy standpoint. But Coker was so much better than him.
83:20I think if I was to look at the McMillan thing just kind of without rose-colored glasses or without, you know, shaded glasses, whatever.
83:27I think it might be similar with Waddle where he probably returns the value of an ADP standpoint, maybe even as a
83:33small loss, but doesn't necessarily have the ceiling to outkick that, if that makes sense.
83:37Yeah. He's not going to be like a league winner type, right?
83:40He's not going to elevate his game or anything like that.
83:43But again, like they play the Lions in week four.
83:46You don't think they're going to be able to put up some points and move the ball in that Lions defense right now.
83:52So I would kind of be surprised if he doesn't have a good game in week four, and then we'll be talking
83:58about three decent games and one kind of bad game.
84:01So I'm not that worried. I'll say some panic, but I'm not that worried about him yet.
84:06Yeah, I'm at some panic too, and that's a great point.
84:09I don't think we should panic about anybody right before they play the Detroit Lions.
84:13That's the ultimate get right spot here. That is for sure.
84:16Okay. I did mention that some of that X receiver take was going to lead into our next one.
84:21Brian Thomas Jr. Mid-Ball-Knower says, BTJ's stat line through two weeks wasn't good, but he was comfortably second in targets.
84:26He now seems to have lost his job to Josh Cameron.
84:29Maybe he's hurt. We don't know it. It wouldn't be the first time the Jags were shady with the injury report.
84:35But is he droppable barring a trade? I wanted to include this one, Boone, because I do think Brian Thomas Jr., unless
84:41he gets traded, should be in the coping corner.
84:44Brian Thomas Jr. is clearly not the best receiver on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
84:47That is very clearly Parker Washington. And again, it's not that it's not that BTJ, I think, has been terrible in isolation,
84:53although he's going to he has some plays in week two that he definitely wants back.
84:58He's playing a relatively valuable role and he hasn't lost his job to Josh Cameron, but he's rotating with Josh Cameron because
85:04they like him as a dirty work blocker. And it's just like, I don't know what to tell you when you're in
85:10this low percentage X receiver role and Parker Washington is better than you.
85:13So you're going to you're not going to have consistent fantasy viability.
85:16Michael Florio, we put the we put the tweet up on the screen if you're watching with us on YouTube.
85:22He's basically calls him the Jags version of Marvin Harrison Jr.
85:25And that's exactly right. Marvin Harrison Jr. is in the same.
85:28Is it? He's in literally the same position where he is not clearly.
85:32And I think right now, pretty clearly not the best receiver.
85:35Not even talking about tight end Trey McBride from a wide receiver.
85:38Like Parker Washington is better than Brian Thomas Jr.
85:40And Michael Wilson, even coming into the season, like these guys are in the same tier to me.
85:45And now it's like clearly it's Parker Washington, Michael Wilson.
85:48And those guys play in the higher percentage roles in their offense.
85:51Just tough to roster these guys and expect any consistent production.
85:54They will have both Marv and Brian Thomas Jr.
85:57Will have games at some point this year. Good luck predicting when those are going to come and they're not coming for BTJ right now.
86:04So where do you stand on BTJ? Yeah, scoping corner all the way.
86:07I think he's droppable. Another guy that we're going to talk about when we get to the drop list later.
86:13And he's just in that group of like flex plays for fantasy.
86:16And you can almost always go to the waiver wire and get guys like that, that you can throw in your lineup
86:22as like a bi-week replacement or kind of a flex.
86:25So I don't really think there's that much of a reason to hold him other than like you said, if he gets
86:31traded somewhere else, if he goes to a contender before the trade deadline.
86:34But is that really going to happen? We've been sitting around waiting for a trade for him for like a year now, and it hasn't occurred.
86:41So I don't think you're sitting around holding him on your bench just for that.
86:45I'd be dropping him and picking up somebody else.
86:48Yeah, I would as well. Listen, I thought there was a chance that he would make this pretty close between him and Parker Washington.
86:54I was wrong about that because he just doesn't have the role.
86:58I thought he'd be an every down player for this team.
87:01He has not been an every down player for this team, which that makes it impossible.
87:05If he was running 80% of the routes and he had been up and down over the first few weeks, I would
87:11say live with some of that and try to chase some good matchups because they haven't been good matchups so far from a perimeter cornerback perspective.
87:18But the fact that Cameron is eating in and it's Myers and Washington is the top two receivers and that's a rotation afterwards.
87:24Yeah, he's just not somebody you can consistently count on at this point.
87:28And listen, the Jags are one of the best offenses in the NFL.
87:32It's hard to argue with how they're approaching things right now.
87:35Okay, last receiver we're going to talk about here.
87:37By the way, Boone, he also kind of fits into this theory of if you're the second best receiver on your team
87:43and you line up at X, it's going to be a bumpy ride for you and it's always a bumpy ride for Jamison Williams.
87:50Our Kapoor sends this in. Jamison looks disengaged and is an afterthought in a juggernaut Lions offense that has to score a
87:56ton because their defense is mediocre at best. How is someone so talented the fourth or fifth fiddle?
88:01I just don't get it. Well, let me tell you why because I'm on our same Brown is better and he always will be and always has been.
88:08Jameer Gibbs is better. Sam Laporta. It's been the last calendar year when Laporta is active and Jameau is active.
88:14I believe Laporta gets more targets and that's not really like a quality thing.
88:18It's just kind of how the roles work on the team.
88:21I would I'm at I guess I'm at total panic on Jamison Williams Boone, but I also know this is how the Jameau experience always goes.
88:28And at some point he's going to have a massive week.
88:31So I could hear this being just a some panic.
88:33But where do you think we should place him?
88:36Yeah, we're waiting for that boom week. I'm also total panic.
88:39It's probably on the lower end of that and you nailed it.
88:42He just he has a Sam Laporta problem, right?
88:45Like last year when Laporta was out from week 11 on Jamo was the wide receiver 12 and fantasy points per game.
88:51He averaged 7.3 targets per game during that stretch.
88:53Prior to that with Laporta, the wide receiver 39 through the first 10 games and he was averaging 4.8 targets per game.
88:59I would argue that like four for 45 in week one, four for 49 in week three.
89:04Like it's not like he's giving you nothing could be worse, but he is certainly now gone from where we drafted him
89:10as more of that low end wide receiver to or a guy that at least had that potential to be a top
89:1620 top 24 guy to now being in like the boomer bust wide receiver three area.
89:20Now talk about boomer bust. They play the Carolina Panthers in week four who just announced that JC Horn is going to miss a ton of time.
89:28Mike Jackson might not play in this game. Like we said, it's probably going to be a high scoring affair.
89:33Sunday night football. James Williams drops a hammer. I could totally see that happening.
89:37Okay, so you know, we're totally panicking about Williams, but we also acknowledge that the only reason we're totally panicking is that
89:43the Sam Laporta problem, as you said, like that's been now a two year sample here.
89:47And it's just the role that if you can't live with the James Williams volatility and look up at the end of
89:53the year and he's a top 20 receiver of one, even though it never felt like that, then you just shouldn't draft James Williams.
90:00But that is how the experience goes here. So our coping corner update coming out of this episode, the Chargers offense, Drake May, Brian Thomas, Jr., Travis A.
90:08Chan, Jr. I would also say like Marvin Harrison, Jr., obviously coping corner.
90:11There's probably a few others out there, maybe just all not best receiver on their team.
90:15Team X receivers should be in the coping corner.
90:18I don't know. We'll talk more about that. But yeah, so that's where we are at from a coping corner standpoint, Boone.
90:24It is what it is. These guys are no longer eligible to be to be submitted to the panic meter.
90:29These guys are in the coping corner. Any final thoughts?
90:32No, just that there were some guys that were close and are lucky that they are not in there.
90:37And I think they might end up in there in the next couple of weeks.
90:41So I look forward now that I'm back, that we're going to keep doing these shows.
90:46And I think those spots are going to fill up very quickly now.
90:49Yeah, we're going to have some more room on this graphic with the fire and all that.
90:54You know, we're going to have some more room with the coping corner.
90:58That is for sure. Okay, we're going to take a quick break.
91:01We come back. We're going to get into the waiver wire.
91:04Stick around. We'll be back right after this quick break.
91:07All right. Welcome to waiver wire targets presented by Duke cannon.
91:10The soap that is virtually bench proof. Each week we provide the top 10 list of Justin Boone's waiver wire targets.
91:15And we also go over players you need to drop or should consider dropping coming out of week three heading into week four.
91:22So, boom, let's get into the top 10 here.
91:24And, you know, now we don't have to talk about you behind your back with Scott anymore in your list.
91:30We actually get to hear your reasons and justifications for this.
91:33Let's start off with number 10. Keaton Mitchell running back Los Angeles Chargers.
91:36Oh, we're counting it down backwards. I love it.
91:39I'll say just kind of generally about this. I write the waiver wire column.
91:42People can check that out. It's very deep. It's not just these 10.
91:46I write up a few players at every position.
91:48I have categories breaking it down. So if you look at this list and you're like, all those guys are rostered in my league.
91:55Don't worry. You can go check out the column.
91:58I have players that are zero percent rostered in there.
92:00So you'll be fine. Go take a look at that.
92:03Now start with Keaton Mitchell here. This gives you an idea like where we're at in terms of waiver wire pickups, because Keaton Mitchell, not the most exciting.
92:11He is never going to be somebody that becomes a workhorse back, a guy that's going to become a league winner type.
92:17I don't see that for him. He would need a bunch of injuries.
92:20And even then, I imagine the Chargers would probably go out and get somebody else.
92:24But 39 yards in week two, 52 rushing yards and a receiving TD this week.
92:28You know, Marion Hampton, it hasn't been great. It hasn't been bad enough that he's going to lose his job.
92:34This is probably going to remain maybe more of a committee than we thought before the season.
92:39And that makes Keaton Mitchell somebody that you can play as an RB3 flex type.
92:43So you can go pick him up. There's a lot of people out there that are desperate for running backs.
92:48I'm one of them in our expert league, Harmon.
92:51I whiffed on Marshawn Lloyd. I'm kind of struggling and churning the bottom of my roster here to hope that I can hit on somebody.
92:57Keaton Mitchell is the kind of guy that you can do that with.
93:01You could drop him in your flex by yourself some time here.
93:04He'll give you a little something. Give you a little something.
93:07And look, we played or we showed the quote from Justin Herbert earlier in the show.
93:12And we threw that offense in the coping corner.
93:14Always good when you can throw an offense in the coping corner and then get to the waiver wire talking like, hey,
93:20you could pick up the backup running back from the coping offense.
93:23But he mentioned like, we need to try. I don't know what it is that's going to fix this, but we need to figure it out fast.
93:31We need to basically try something different. And yeah, maybe Keaton Mitchell is that something different can add a little bit of an explosive element here.
93:38He had the touchdown run that was a touchdown pass technically, I believe with Justin Herbert, but a little pop pass there where he got to the perimeter.
93:46Anyways, you know, maybe you can give him something.
93:48So not the most heinous pickup that you could make here.
93:51Let's go to it. Oh, yeah, go ahead. I was going to say it's also like when you get to this level
93:57of the top 10, it also comes down to like what you need.
94:01Right. So I didn't put a quarterback in the top 10 here.
94:04If you need a quarterback and not a running back, you can look at Sam Darnold this week.
94:09Like there are other options. Again, when you get to the needs, you can go check out the column.
94:14And that is why to your point, check out the column.
94:17We are reading again in 2026. Reading. Good for your brain as it turns out.
94:21So make sure you do that. Make sure you read Boone's columns.
94:24Okay. We're going to go two for the next one here.
94:27Nine and eight is a pair of Dolphins receivers.
94:30We can go ahead and just reveal both of them here.
94:33Malik Washington, wide receiver Dolphins. Number nine. Chris Bell, wide receiver Dolphins.
94:36Number eight. Not only are we dealing with the Devon HN injury, but Caleb Douglas also missed last week.
94:41So in week number three, Boone, you saw a little bit of something from both these guys in week number three.
94:47Now Malik Washington led the way in terms of route percentage.
94:5081% of the dropbacks. Chris Bell was 71%. 10 targets for Washington.
94:53Seven for Chris Bell. What did you see? And what are you kind of looking at with these two wide outs?
94:59I think Bell's really interesting. And I know there's a lot of talk that if it wasn't for the ACL tear last
95:05year, that maybe he could have been a first round pick.
95:08He's somebody that's come along very quickly in his recovery here to see him already out on the field and putting up
95:14four catches for 67 yards in week three. That's a great sign for him.
95:18I think he has the talent to really become the number one receiver in this offense this year.
95:23And we might already kind of be there now.
95:25It's going to be rocky. It's going to be up and down.
95:29We can't really count that this Miami offense is going to give you consistent production week after week.
95:34But he's somebody that I'm very excited about. I think he has the higher ceiling if you're picking between these two.
95:39Malik Washington is just like that really steady guy.
95:42He's top 50 scrimmage yards in every game so far.
95:45He's a wide receiver for flex. Really, they both are at this point.
95:48And again, you mentioned it earlier with a chance sideline.
95:51Now there might be some more targets that have to go to the receivers.
95:55So we'll see how this plays out, including Caleb Douglas is also someone in this offense and at this receiver position that
96:01you could go out and grab and stash. We're going to monitor his practice participation this week.
96:05But I know the coaching staff said that there's a chance he's going to be out there on Wednesday practicing.
96:11So he's day to day. We'll have to see how this all plays out.
96:15But if you're looking again, kind of like the backfield in Miami that we talked about earlier, we're going to talk about again here coming up.
96:22You're just looking at an offense that has so much opportunity that people aren't that excited about.
96:26And if someone can emerge and get that volume, they could give you surprising fantasy production.
96:31So these are guys that you can take shots on a little deeper.
96:34I do think that Chris Bell has the highest theoretical ceiling out of all of these guys this year, long term, the whole deal.
96:41I like I like what Caleb Douglas has shown.
96:43And I also think, by the way, that the Dolphins are doing the right thing of, you know, let's just throw these
96:49guys into the deep end of the pool and see if they sink or swim.
96:54That's the right thing to do. They actually I think next offseason, they probably should add some level of a steady veteran
97:00and maybe even a great receiver prospect if it comes to it.
97:03I don't know. But I think maybe they could come out of the season be like, hey, Chris Bell, Caleb Douglas, Malik Washington.
97:09We can we can work with these guys. I will note about Malik Washington, too.
97:13He could actually weirdly be a replacement for Devon H and in in some sort of ways.
97:18He has three rush attempts on the season. He had two carries in this past week against the Kansas City Chiefs.
97:24He was a guy that I liked as a prospect, kind of as a little bit of a slot design touches type of player.
97:30He's been in the slot on 42 percent of the snaps so far this season, 7.9 yards after catch per reception.
97:36You know, and again, he's kind of has been used as that design touches type player in Mike McDaniels offense, maybe a little bit less so far.
97:43But I did like Malik Washington as a day two type of prospect.
97:47And ultimately, I think it has been great so far in his NFL career.
97:51But certainly someone that I think could weirdly be a replacement for Devon H and in some of the design touches type of way.
97:57Because that's not going to even if Ali Gordon, who we're going to talk about, or even Jalen Wright, like those guys aren't going to be that way.
98:05Oh, look, Josh is he also felt the same way for showing the tweet on the screen here.
98:10There you go. I will also say, though, Herman, if you're grabbing these guys to play them this week, maybe you take
98:16more of a shot on Malik Washington because he's been the more consistent player because they're going up against the Vikings in Minnesota.
98:22Brian Flores, this Dolphins offense. I don't love this spot for them.
98:25So just keep that in mind. If they come out this week and it kind of looks ugly and their offense gets
98:31blown up after they just lost their best player, we'll give them a pass for this week.
98:36This is more of a long season play. Long term, you're going to grab them and hope that they can emerge.
98:42Yeah, we'll certainly look. I mean, maybe you're going to need some design touches against the Minnesota Vikings and Brian Flores and the whole deal.
98:49But the words of my old co-host, Andy Barons, are running around in the back of my head where he used to
98:55say not about this team necessarily, but this was his phrase.
98:58Yeah, I'm not really trying to find new and creative ways to invest in the 2026 Miami Dolphins.
99:03And I certainly think that that is true. That being said, I mentioned this earlier in the show.
99:08I think this might be the worst pass defense I've ever seen.
99:11And maybe even worse than the Dallas Cowboys of last year where I thought they were the worst pass defense I've ever seen.
99:17From a dropback EPA standpoint, they are pretty far and away.
99:20Cowboys, by the way, 31st at 0.408 EPA allowed, which is pretty close to the 30th team, which is the Arizona Cardinals.
99:26Then the Dolphins are all the way down at 0.46.
99:29I know like EPA allowed is a little tough to understand and kind of conceptualize there, but there's a healthy gap between 31st and 32.
99:36And there's an even healthier gap between 32 and 29 at 0.24.
99:39Okay. So, yeah, listen, there might be a lot of pass attempts for this Dolphins team coming up with no H and
99:45a really bad pass defense on the other side of it.
99:48So definitely if you're playing in a deep league, you start a lot of wide receivers.
99:52These guys are interesting to pick up. Okay. Let's get to number seven here on your list.
99:57Mike Washington Jr. On the Raiders, the Raiders number two back.
100:00And again, that gives you an idea of where we're at here with the pickups.
100:04But you look at him 41 yards in week one.
100:07That was against the Dolphins. So you're like, okay, 41 yards a week one.
100:11That's nice. Not much production or volume in week two against the Chargers.
100:14And then 54 yards and a touchdown this week.
100:17He had the long run for the touchdown. It just, it kind of looks like he has like an extra gear right now compared to Ashton Gentian.
100:24Maybe that's not surprising because Gentian had the ankle issue before the season this week.
100:28He was getting taped up on those ankles. So he might still be battling that a little bit.
100:33They talk though at one point this off season, we're getting both these guys work.
100:37And if Gentian is not a hundred percent out there, if he's trying to battle through this stuff, then absolutely.
100:43They're going to get Washington more involved. And the matchup this week's not great.
100:47They're going to go against the chiefs. We're going to get a real test here for the Raiders to see if this
100:53start for them is legit or not in this game.
100:55That's a tough matchup for the rushing attack. I don't know how much he'll have this week, but this is a guy that has to be rostered everywhere.
101:03If Gentie's injuries continue here, if he eventually misses time, Mike Washington Jr.
101:07is one of the best backups that you could have right now.
101:10He would vault right up into the top 20, maybe even the top 15.
101:14So excited about him. Like what we've seen in the preseason, like what we've seen so far this season.
101:19And he's a guy that could give you some flex value on top of having that big potential.
101:24If Gentie ever gets hurt. Yeah, totally. And yeah, he was a guy that got dropped a ton after week one should
101:30just, should just be on roster, especially because the fact like the Raiders are not a joke, whether they're their three and O start is going to last.
101:38That at least is a good sign long-term for the Raiders for sure.
101:41And definitely for this backfield, if you end up having to start some Mike Washington, if Ashton Gentie was to ever get hurt.
101:47But I do think it's smart to keep these guys in a little bit of rotation because, you know, look, Ashton Gentie's a good player.
101:54And I think he's, he's banged up coming into this year for sure.
101:58And maybe that is why to your point, Washington looks like he's got more juice.
102:02It also wouldn't be surprising, even if Ashton Gentie is the better back, if Mike Washington just has more juice, because Mike Washington has a ton of juice.
102:10For a team that can certainly use it there.
102:12Unless you got anything else on, on Washington, we can get to number six here.
102:16He's still available in 66% of leagues. So if he's out there in years, go get them.
102:21All right, cool. What do we got for number six on the list?
102:24This one, it was just, it was so tough to write this into the column, but I had to based on the situation, Alvin Kamara.
102:31We're putting Alvin Kamara in here and we can also talk about Kendra Miller here because they were both kind of splitting work.
102:37After Travis HN went down in this game, but this is a hamstring issue.
102:41Like we talked about off the top, they're saying that he's going to miss some time.
102:46We haven't gotten the update exactly what the recovery timeline looks like, but he's not going to be out there for the next little bit.
102:52So someone else is going to get volume. Kamara is very dusty.
102:56Kamara is washed. This is not the same Alvin Kamara that we remember from a few years ago.
103:01We've seen him just kind of consistently go downhill.
103:03When he gets volume, we don't see a ton of production from it.
103:07I mean, this guy's 31 years old, right? Like what do you expect from a 31 year old back who has the miles that he kind of has?
103:1422 yards on 14 touches in week two. That was ugly in his first game back there.
103:19Results were slightly better in this game. 41 yards on 10 attempts.
103:22But again, there's a lot of managers out there in fantasy who are very running back needy.
103:27They're trying to find somebody that they can just slot into that RB2 spot, into that flex spot.
103:32Kamara is probably going to get the volume. This could go any way though.
103:36So if you're looking to find like the sneaky, cheaper kind of ad, you could look to grab Kendra Miller and throw him on your bench.
103:43And maybe he gets opportunity if Kamara keeps struggling out there.
103:46But Alvin Kamara is somebody who's going to end up in that RB3 mix this week.
103:50You probably need him to find the end zone or have a big reception total in order to come through for fantasy
103:56and come through for fantasy as a relative term, because that probably just means that he gives you an okay day, not a huge day.
104:03But that's where we're at here. Kamara is somebody that you could pick up.
104:07We haven't made it to the top five yet.
104:09So we're still talking about these kind of guys.
104:12I think you laid that out well. Okay. Number five on your list.
104:15Who do we got here? All right. A little more exciting at least.
104:19And yet it's another super old guy here. Keenan Allen on the Colts.
104:22Alec Pierce on injured reserve. We don't know when he's going to be back.
104:26The Colts passing attack is now just consolidating around Josh Downs and Tyler Warren and Alan.
104:31And all three came away with pretty strong stat lines on Sunday.
104:34The fact that a 34 year old Alan is somebody that I'm recommending that you pick up is wild, but nine targets,
104:40six catches for 63 yards and a touchdown against that Texans defense that might not have the sharpest teeth that it had
104:46in the past, but it's still a fairly good defense.
104:49And he gets a much softer opponent coming up here.
104:51The Colts are heading to Washington. They'll take on that commander's defense.
104:55They're inside the top 10 for fantasy points allowed to receivers through three weeks.
104:59So I wouldn't overspend on a guy like Alan.
105:01Again, I mentioned earlier, we were talking about BTJ that you can get flex plays at receiver.
105:06What you're looking is for somebody who can give you a little more than that.
105:10Alan showed that he can give you more than that, right?
105:13With that stat line, 63 yards and a touchdown.
105:15So he's somebody that you could look to grab to throw in your lineup as a wide receiver, three flex option.
105:21Yeah, I think that's right on Keenan Allen. Like he can definitely be that guy because you said consolidation.
105:26And I mean, the consolidation was crazy in week three, 10 targets for Tyler Warren, 11 targets for Josh Downs.
105:32Oh my God. Thank God. Josh Downs is getting what we need here.
105:35It's happening. Nine targets. It's finally happening. Nine targets for Keenan Allen, who got the touchdown.
105:40The rest of the targets, Jonathan Taylor had three.
105:42Nobody else had more than one. Mo'ally Cox had one.
105:45Laquan Treadwell had one. And I trust Shane Sykin to continue making this happen because he's a good play caller the whole deal.
105:51So yeah, Keenan Allen against the commanders this week is probably going to be in that mix.
105:56If you're hurting at wide receiver, certainly someone that you can chase the opportunity there.
106:00And yeah, Tyler Warren, Josh Downs, those guys will continue to get it done.
106:04I do wish Tyler Warren could like, can he run a route downfield?
106:07Nine, nine catches, 10 targets, 55 yards, 2.5 air yards per target.
106:11I mean, it's wild that Josh Downs is their most effective downfield receiver at this point.
106:1514 air yards per target. I mean, I don't think it's wild.
106:18I think it's justified. My God, finally. But yeah, they could certainly use what they could certainly use an Alec Pierce with the functioning ankle.
106:25That is, that is for sure. When you look at this Colts offense, but feel good about where Josh Downs is.
106:31And what they have is Darius Slayton, who eventually will get up to speed and probably occupy that spot.
106:36The OG sacrificial X, by the way, like when I talk about sacrificial X's, I'm talking about Darius Slayton, not necessarily, well,
106:42Brian Thomas Jr., who we talked about earlier. Okay.
106:44Number four on your list. What do we got?
106:47Okay. Now we're getting real exciting here. And this guy, I think I would bump him up to the third spot if I knew he was healthy.
106:54But at the moment, I haven't seen an update today.
106:57I don't know where his ankle injury stands. All I know, Harmon, is Terence Ferguson in week two.
107:02He gets out there with Puka Nakua on the sidelines.
107:05Looks fantastic. Six for 54 and a touchdown. All the updates about Puka right now, I think are fairly negative that we
107:11don't know when he's going to come back. It's probably not going to be this week.
107:15We're not totally sure when it's going to be.
107:18A lot of the injury analysts suggesting that this is something that could linger, that could eventually have to lead to surgery.
107:24We'll see what happens with him. We don't want to speculate.
107:27We don't know for sure when he's going to be back.
107:30But when he's out of the lineup, Terrence Ferguson is an outstanding play in fantasy.
107:34You want to talk about tight ends that could be in your flex.
107:37He is absolutely one of them. And then you expect this game week three is going to go out there.
107:43He's going to do it again. And what happens?
107:45No, he gets hurt. Only ends up playing 26% of the snaps.
107:48And now he has this ankle injury and he spends a big chunk of the game just watching from the sidelines.
107:54And it hurt even more because Tyler Higby, old Tyler Higby, eight grabs, 62 yards and a score with Ferguson watching from the sidelines.
108:01So we're going to have to monitor for updates.
108:03We'll see if, you know, Ferguson's ankle injury is going to be okay enough for him to play this week.
108:09If we know that he is healthy and he's going to be out there and there aren't going to be any limitations.
108:15He's a guy that is a tight end one play.
108:17He is somebody that you can put in your lineup in the flex spot.
108:21He is somebody that I'm very excited to roster because we don't know what's going to happen to Puka Nakua.
108:27And if Nakua misses significant time at any point, Ferguson, it's just to the moon for him.
108:31Yep. Great call there. We spent a lot of time in the summer talking about how that could be.
108:37Terrence Ferguson is their wide receiver three essentially. And that is pretty much what has happened here so far when he's been healthy.
108:43Got to love him quite literally hopping to a first down against the Broncos.
108:47He's on one ankle there. So yeah, hopefully he can get and stay healthy.
108:51He's certainly a player that really matters. Ollie Gordon is your number three player.
108:54We talked a little bit about him at the start of the show, but just any additional thoughts about Ollie Gordon and this Dolphins backfield?
109:01No, I think it's just important to mention the Jalen Wright of it all like we did off the top that this could really go either way.
109:09Jalen Wright dealing with the injury. We'll see if he's able to practice this week.
109:13The coaching staff suggested that he might be able to.
109:15We could find out later in the week, like by Friday, that it's actually Jalen Wright who's going to start.
109:21I think regardless when both guys are healthy and out there, we're going to see some sort of committee backfield.
109:26We're going to see them both get touches. That just lowers the ceiling, right?
109:30Neither of these guys are Devon H. And like I mentioned earlier, the matchup with the Vikings this week is not great.
109:36So I have the fob bids for these guys fairly close.
109:39Seven dollars for Gordon. Three dollars for Wright. Eight again.
109:42This is if you're desperate. This is if you need a running back, somebody to throw in your lineup.
109:47This is not a guy who's coming in to save your fantasy season.
109:51Your number one and number two players on the list.
109:54What a time to be alive. Both play for the New York Jets and Boone.
109:58I think they're both really good pickups because this Jets team, I haven't updated my offensive efficiency metrics just yet, but just
110:04looking at the EPA and success rate, they're 11th in EPA per play.
110:07They're 15th in success rate are these New York Jets.
110:10And I get they just played the Lions and that's going to be kind of a big 12 collegiate type of game
110:16every single week with that defense, especially when they play inside.
110:19Nevertheless, the offense is functional. Gino played extremely well in week three.
110:22Number two, before we get to the number one players, Kenyon Sadiq, who is ninth in yards per game at the tight
110:28end position right now and had a hell of a catch for a touchdown in week three.
110:33Yeah, he was my featured tight end in the very first waiver wear column that I put out this year.
110:38And it was pretty obvious, like you could see the story for him, right?
110:42He was injured in the preseason. We knew he was going to get brought along slowly.
110:47He gets out there week one. They were manufacturing touches for him.
110:50He scored a touchdown in that game, right? Like they wanted to get him the ball before he got hurt in the summer.
110:56The beat writers were saying he was getting a ton of volume in practice.
111:00So he was going to be part of this offense.
111:03Eventually, he just needed to get up to speed.
111:05Now that was happening. But then we also had Mason Taylor get hurt.
111:09He's week to week. Not sure when he's going to be back.
111:12And then I had an I Mitchell, obviously with the finger injury last week, he ends up sitting out that game and
111:18a game where they were going against the Lions, who were the number one defense for fantasy tight ends to face, which was a great matchup there.
111:25It was obvious this was going to happen. I talked about Sadiq as a last minute pickup on fantasy football live on Sunday morning.
111:32And then, of course, he goes out and just blows away all our expectations, right?
111:36105 yards and a touchdown in that one. So this is the kind of guy who is potentially going to be a
111:42tight end one the rest of the season. I think even when A.D.
111:46Mitchell's out there, he is still going to be a big part of this offense.
111:50Any concerns we had before the season about Omar Cooper Jr.
111:53being involved? You know, he's on IR, so he's going to be involved.
111:56This is going to be great. This is somebody that you should have been stashing and now you're going to be able
112:02to play him the rest of the way. 41% snaps in the slot in week three.
112:07That matters a lot because, yeah, obviously when A.D.
112:09Mitchell gets back, he'll take that outside receiver role from Isaiah Williams, who played that.
112:13And yeah, it's a shame that A.D. missed that game and he would have been a really nice sleeper against the Lions.
112:19But Garrett Wilson, A.D. Mitchell, like their best yards after catch threat unless Omar Cooper gets back and is like fully healthy,
112:25but he's not able to establish momentum right now.
112:28Sadiq is like Sadiq is that guy. He's their best design touches manufactured player.
112:32I think his role continues and is solidified. Plays the Bears this week.
112:35Really good opportunity there. Your number one pickup is, of course, Braylon Allen.
112:39We talked about the Brees Hall injury. What do you recommend in terms of resources to spend on a guy like Braylon Allen?
112:45Because you seem pretty excited when we talked about it earlier in the show.
112:49Well, again, we don't think this is going to be anything season ending for Brees Hall, so you don't want to necessarily go too crazy with it.
112:56It also depends the situation you're in, right? Like in a regular everything's neutral.
113:00I would spend about a quarter of your fab budget to get him because I think it's a plug and play situation.
113:06He's potentially going to be an RB2 in your lineup and an RB2 that you can feel pretty good about in this offense.
113:12Obviously, that we're talking about looks a lot better than a lot of people expected this year.
113:17But again, if you are in a situation where you're 0-3, you're not getting a lot from your running backs.
113:23You need a win immediately. Then you're going to want to be even more aggressive because this is a guy that you
113:29can plug into your lineup and maybe can solve that running back problem for a few weeks for you.
113:34So it's really at your own discretion. For me, it would start, though, looking at about a quarter percent and a quarter of your fab budget.
113:41And then other than that, I mean, you can go as high as you want.
113:45If I was 0-3, I'd be willing to spend most of my fab budget to kind of get that player that can
113:51help me get some wins, get things turned around.
113:53I think that's the way you got to look at it.
113:56Especially, as we said, matchup with the Bears this week.
113:59You know, it's a little tougher. Browns, Patriots, I guess, the next two weeks after that.
114:04But Dolphins and Raiders, week seven, week eight. So there's some spots where this Jets team is going to be able to put up points.
114:10And yeah, I mean, Braylon Allen has definitely flashed before.
114:13He's kind of last season was a bit of a lost year with the injury, but he flashed.
114:18That's for sure. Offensive line is good. The ecosystem is definitely better and improved.
114:22So you'll love to see that. Okay, real quick on the drop candidates here now that we've got through the top 10 players to add.
114:29I'll just rattle off by position here. Quarterback, we got Justin Herbert, Baker Mayfield, Malik Willis.
114:33No arguments there. Marshawn Lloyd, Jonathan Brooks, Tajay Spears at running back.
114:36Yeah, you can go ahead and drop the psyops of the summer, which was Marshawn Lloyd and Jonathan Brooks.
114:42At wide receiver, you know, these are bigger names, but this is where it is now at this point.
114:47We talked about the latter three there. I would just say on Chris Godwin with Mayfield hurt and Godwin, he had a
114:53big play called back, which was a bummer because he's definitely struggled to have a lot of consistency through the first three weeks.
114:59He's just obviously a declining player who's not the featured guy in the offense.
115:03And this is going to be really tough for Godwin.
115:06So it's a big name, but someone I do think we saw the signs of decline last year.
115:11I haven't seen anything to really change my mind on that so far this year.
115:15And obviously Xavier worthy, not helping you. Jaden Reed, Khalil Shakir.
115:18Those are guys who you can also drop as well.
115:20And tight end. I can't believe we didn't get any panic submissions on Kyle Pitts because that's a guy that like we
115:26should just go ahead and say Kyle Pitts total coping corner.
115:29No question. And Hunter Henry also. Yeah. But it's beyond panic, which yeah.
115:33Coping corner. I mean, that's like Michael Penix. I love Michael Penix, bro.
115:37He just gets in there and he's just like, where's number five?
115:40How can I find Drake London? He targeted on 40% of his routes in week three.
115:44And that's like an ongoing trend. Michael Penix, I believe if I have the stats off the top of my head, 15
115:50games with Drake London in those 15 games, he has 1,341 yards.
115:54So like basically a full season, Drake London is one of the most productive receivers in the league.
115:58And we said this a lot, Boone, over the summer when Drake London plays Kyle Pitts, he doesn't eat from a fantasy standpoint.
116:05So yeah, he's probably someone that is in the coping corner and certainly someone you can drop at this point.
116:10Yeah. I mean, we saw the splits last year.
116:13I don't know why anyone would have thought it was any anything different this year.
116:17Kyle Pitts not happening for him. Marshawn Lloyd. I know some people are hesitant to drop him, but you have to.
116:23It's not happening for him either. I really don't think it's happening for anybody in that Packers backfield.
116:27So I'd be dropping Caleb Johnson. I don't know why you would have been carrying Chris Brooks other than maybe some like deep dynasty leagues.
116:34But Josh Jacobs, if and when he comes back is the only one that you'd have a little bit of faith in.
116:40And even I think he would have a hard time producing behind this line.
116:44That's the state of things right now. So yeah, I think all of these are pretty obvious drops, even though some of
116:50them are kind of bigger names that people might be hesitant to click on.
116:54You might feel a little bad about it. But with Herbert schedule, all those receivers that we have there, they're all like
117:00guys who might give you 40 yards or so.
117:02But that's not really helping your fantasy team that much.
117:05So I don't think you have to feel bad about dropping any of them.
117:09And they will definitely have. I don't know about the worthy Khalil Shakir, you know, Quentin Johnson, but like there's going to
117:15be moments for Godwin, for BTJ, for Marv. Like the moments will come.
117:19Boom, it's just going to be really difficult to predict when those are going to happen.
117:23And it's just like that. There was a risk of that coming into the season for all three of those guys.
117:29Unfortunately, I think so far through three weeks, it's a small sample, but through three weeks, we've seen the negative side of those ranges of outcomes.
117:36Boom. No negativity in the range of outcomes having you on the show, buddy.
117:40This has been great. Fit like a glove. No, it wasn't.
117:43Wasn't shocked. But we hopped right into the rhythm on this one.
117:46And I appreciate you jumping back on by. We even wore the same color.
117:50Look at us two idiots wearing green. We should talk about this before the show.
117:54Come on now. Absolutely foolish that we both wore green in this one.
117:57But again, that's because we're just mind melded here, even though we haven't been potting as much recently.
118:02But man, it's great to be back. And yeah, I can't wait to keep doing this panic meter show the rest of the season.
118:09No question. I can't wait either. Although it is always tough to talk through some of the panic and maybe some of
118:15your off season takes that you're already selling on.
118:17I think both of us had to do a little bit of that this year.
118:22Won't be the last time that we have to do that.
118:25As well. We will be back on this channel tomorrow for the week four data dump with Ray Garvin.
118:30Plus, we have an update. I've been hinting at it through the show, but we will have some updates on the Yahoo Fantasy League.
118:36Yeah. You know, some good updates for some of us.
118:39Some bad updates for others. Boone, we wish you good luck going into Monday Night Football.
118:43I know you got a little bit of a sweat here going into that one.
118:48But that is going to be live at 4 p.m.
118:50Eastern on this YouTube channel. Until then, we are out.
